After weighing the alternatives, I've decided to store my gallery, until the 'opt out' feature or some such variant is added. It's not that I think my work is overly in demand to be stolen / shared / linked to, it's the fact that there is no choice being currently offered. Personally, I've always selected the options that prevented downloading / uploading, which to me makes it obvious that I don't want to 'share' my work blindly; I do share it on request however. Yes, I know that you can 'right click on image / save image as'. . . Anything I plan to exhibit, I don't post here. But for me the point is plain, this new feature has negated my personal artistic choice for the last four years.

I've read quite a number of articles and journals on the subject, for and against, (some of which are articulate - and some are just insulting)... "Change with the times", "Everyone is doing it". . . I think they said the same thing about LSD back in the 60's.

What really set me off though was one article / journal that I encountered yesterday, '10 reasons. . .' couldn't find it to link to it today, I think they took it down). Needless to say, it was instrumental in me electing to store my gallery.

I'm a fan of free will.
There are pro's as well as con's to link sharing, and I'm pleased to see both sides being presented in a professional (and adult) manner. . . mostly. I may eventually choose not to 'opt out', but, I would like to make that decision for myself, once the system has had some time to work.

I apologize to everyone who stops by on my page - looking for fractals, photos or odd bits and finds nothing. I don't plan to leave dA, and hopefully there will be a resolution to this issue in the near future.

All promised features, etc., will be put on hold until there is some constructive action on this front.

98% of my plants survived the 6+ feet of snow that landed on them this winter.
72% of my housework / spring cleaning is complete.
80% of what is in my fridge is still edible.

Hello!

Well, I've been playing with the various new and tasty bits that dA has created for subscribers. . . and as a result, my main page has a lot more art on it. lol, gee, I only have 2,000+ to choose from.
So far, I've only been mildly annoyed by the site glitches - and for those that have

'd recently, or left me comments in the last couple of days (and not heard from me), understand that the comment and the

's are probably floating out in the cybervoid. I can upload 4 out of 5 images without error, and and can leave 1 in 3 comments. . . I've heard of worse situations happening with the 'tweaking' that's going on.
ANYWAY. . . back to my original journal plan.
Given everyone is used to my fractal collages, I thought I'd dredge up some of the early stuff, illustrations, sculpture, etc., for fun.

Howdy All!

Well, MY system has ceased to function, in what I could call a distinctly artistic-tantrum-like manner. If I cannot get it going again in the next couple of days it will mean that I will have to replace it entirely, or expensive bits of it. . .resurrecting it as 'Franken-comp'. . . hopefully better, stronger and capable of creating more art. . . but I digress. It would appear that all my recent art (as well as the stuff done over the last 3 years) has transcended the material bit-plane. Sad, but it kinda drives home the importance of backing stuff up. I still have my fingers crossed that the issue isn't a corrupt hard drive, and that everything is retrievable.

Well, here I am, after a very long hiatus. I'd like to apologise to those that may have thought that I was either ignoring them, being rude, or both, for not returning their comments, or thanking them for the faves. Truth is, I've been really ill.
I won't bore you folks with the long story, I can sum it all up in a longish, run-on sentence. Ready?
Contracted evil flu, went to doctor, got meds, didn't take meds, went back, got inhalers, flu became pneumonia, took original meds, got sinus infection, went to emerg, (visited parents over holidays as well), spent much time sleeping, felt crappy for a long time, went to doc, pronounced better. . . and what is today? Well, I'm back! I haven't done a lot of art, but I will upload a couple of things in the next few days - and I will try to answer as many of my messages as possible too.

4. I lost my left upper adult canine tooth and broke my nose when I was 12 (rogue baseball - I was backcatcher)

7. I'm currently looking for full time work.
8. I have a 13 year old son.
9. I've been separated pending divorce since 1995.
10. I'm currently employed part-time as a computer software consultant.

What do I do for a living? Hmmmm. . . well, I teach people how to use software, and computer peripherials. Am I any good? Dunno - been at it for years, and have had one particular client for almost 10 years (he likes to stay current with tech - and buys new stuff every couple of weeks). Do I know HOW TO OPERATE A SCANNER? Yes, I do. Do I understand how to ADJUST DPI SETTINGS? But of course, that's easy, all you do is. . . oooooo.

I didn't even look, did I? Just trusted that the scanner was like the one at work (set to scan at 1200 dpi). Mine (new) was set at 96 dpi. That explains why the shots looked kinda crappy to me. . .
Well folks, this is just to let you know that I'm re-doing most of the photos I've uploaded in the last week - except for the 2 rather painterly shots taken in China.
Sorry. Next time, I'll just have a pot of coffee intravenously attached to me while I work.

The multi-dimensional consciousness. What a delightful topic. What we think, do, how we respond; we're all interconnected, and each action/inaction we choose to take, shakes the variable dice as to where we go, and ripples out. We're all riding the surf of mutual design and consent, it's just some people have forgotten they have a boogie board, and other's had it ripped off while they were looking at the waves. Some people deny they had any part of the waves creation - and in doing so get sucked under with those that fear their own power, and with those who abuse it. Outside forces, be they people, or natural/supernatural events thread through our personal tapestries, altering the design, but ultimately what we choose to do with the pattern is ours to do. Free Will. It hovers over our heads like the sword of Damaclese (I probably spelled that wrong). Crap happens, however good things happen too; what do you personally choose to put forth into the mix? What you put into yourself, and extend to others ripples out, and ultimately returns back to you. Are you where you WANT to be - probably not. I doubt anyone really is. . . Want, is such an indulgent word. There's always the bigger, better, greener pasture just over the rise, or sitting next to you on the bus. Are you where you NEED to be? Well, are you uncomfortable? Is it motivating you to go and meet that stranger, get away from the tv, be adventrous, try something new, or have you settled into a familiar rut? Need is what drives us to action. Learn from the past, plan for the future, but the living is now.
