I dreamed I murdered someone.

I dreamed I murdered several people. Instead of guilt or remorse, I was filled with an overwhelming fear of getting found out - as if the only thing stopping me from killing was not a sense of morals or ethics, but the realisation of the consequences. This is in fact a theme I first thought about right after seeing The Great Ecstacy of Robert Carmichael, but I never really consciously thought about it.

There was a head in my refrigerator. There were bodies, hidden in my room. In the dream - not unlike in real life - I had to move out soon, and my main recurring thought was "Shit, what do I do with the bodies?". Every time I relaxed, every time I sank back into a more peaceful state of mind, there was a shriek - "Shit, what do I do with the bodies?"

I woke up in the middle of dragging a corpse to the river, argueing with myself that it was no good, the cops would find out, even the water wouldn't wash away the forensic evidence, they'd find it all out. Shit shit shit. And suddenly I am in my bed, shivering, recognising a bad dream for what it is, and pulling the sheets over my head.

I close my eyes, trying to get some sleep - I only have half an hour left before I have to wake up and go to work. I relax. And suddenly, my heart skips a beat. For a moment, I'm filled with sheer panic, as I think "Shit, what am I going to do with the bodies?"

"... What bodies? It was a dream."
The bodies in your room.
"There are no bodies in my room. It's not real."
Isn't it?
Doubt. Paranoia. Panic.
The head in your refrigerator, isn't it real?

I'm awake. But not really. The reality of my dream enters the reality of my life. I see myself lying in bed, bodies scattered all around me, the sickening odour of decay filling up my nose. When my alarm clock goes off, I snap out of it, shivering and ready to throw up.

Part 1: How I Came To Be

Were you a planned baby?:
No. I only found out a couple of months ago, as well. Before that, I always knew my mother was twenty when she had me and was still in college, but somehow I never really thought anything strange about that. Way to go, me.

Were you the first?:
No.

Were your parents married when you were born?:
No. They weren't even living together yet after I was born.

What is your birthday?:
October 31st, what's it to you?


Part 2: My Family

How would you describe your family?: (Is this "father mother siblings" family or "father mother siblings aunts uncles cousins grandparents" family? I'll answer this as if it were the latter)
People I've grown apart from over the last few years. With some family members, I regret that. With others, I don't. I've always had the feeling I never wanted to be like (most) relatives from my father's side of the family, and I haven't seen those in years. After my grandfather (on my mother's side of the family) died, a lot of dark family secrets on that side suddenly turned up, so I'm keeping my distance a bit from some people there. Incidentally, my other grandfather (father's father) was found dead one morning sitting just outside a bar. Just as my father know, he was an alcoholic. Hereditary? Fun times. And here I am worrying about baldness. But I digress.

Are your parents married, divorced or separated?
Divorced. Been six years now.

If you have siblings are you oldest, middle, or youngest?
Oldest.

What are your siblings’ names?
Kim. My parents are pathetically uninspired. Really. They're such bores. I would've called her "Shanayaznizzle" or something.

Which parent do you get along with best?:
My mom. To get along with my dad I would actually have to see him, I suppose, and that's been about two years.

Do you have step parents?
Yes.

Part 3: The Friends

Do you have more than one best friend?:
I don't think I have a "best friend". It's a weird concept, and if I had a best friend, I'd probably be shagging him. But then that would defeat the concept best friend and lean closer to boyfriend. Or sexbuddy. But I digress again. I was going to write something deep here. (Haha, get it? Deep. Innuendo.)
Seriously, all my friends are important to me. I won't say they're all equally important, but they all are in their own way.

Who are your good friends?:
The ones I talk to on a regularly basis. I'm not a very social person. I'm not someone with tons of "acquaintances" - frankly I think they're a waste of time. I'd rather save my time and energy for my real friends than hang out with people who essentially bore me; in a way I'd consider it an insult to my friends, as well. If someone isn't really a friend, we won't talk anymore after two weeks. Unless they're persistent, I'm usually too polite to tell someone to piss off. Unless, of course, they really annoy me.

Do you share the same interests?:
With most I do. With some, there are huge differences, but the good kind - the way you can actually interest eachother. But I can't be friends with someone who will for example whine about shoes all the time.

Which friend can you tell anything to?:
All of the close ones, really. Althoug I tend to split things up, tell one friend something about me and another one another thing about me. I've often thought if all my friends one day came together and gossiped about me, they could get close to forming a picture of who I really am. That frightens me.

Part 4: Your Personality

How high/low is your self esteem?:
Low in some aspects, moderate in others. High in few aspects, but those are more rare.

Do you get depressed about things easily?:
Not clinicallly depressed, but gloomy. And I'm a neurotic worrier. You don't want to know, really.

Are you happy?:
I suppose so. I was happier a month ago, because of someone who taught me you shouldn't let your happiness depend on others. I can't really complain about being unhappy (although I do, plenty of times. I just don't really mean it too much.)

Do you live life to the fullest?
I'm pretty sure I don't. But I have fun. After all, if every day's a party, the party's become quite dull, and you'll need it all to become more extreme, untill eventually you've reached some limit - or realise you've gone far over that limit, and then it's all pointless. 5. I just drank a coke in the most expensive café in Ghent. It cost € 2.30, which is a lot more than I can afford.

7. I can't sing. At all.
8. And yet I have music lessons every week in which I have to sing.
9. Speaking of which, I play the piano better when I'm drunk or have a hangover. Or maybe it just seems so.

13. I need a shower badly.

And also, even though nobody asked but I know you all secretly care about my opinion because I am so cool, here's a movie review. With spoilers.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

When watching this movie, I was actually wondering if I was watching an actual movie or a music video clip.

The story... who cares, the story is irrelevant. It seems to be written by a 15-year-old fangirl, anyway. Conveniently, some characters rise from the dead. Poor plot development? Definitely. Over-all I got the impression that the "story" was just slapped together as an excuse to make a movie with pretty pictures - in which virtually nothing happens.

But there are pretty pictures. Orgasmically pretty pictures. And pretty music. And voice-acting that's... not-bad.

I guess I'd say, if you like a cinematic blast-experience and care less about them defiling the story of Final Fantasy VII with some brainless overly-dramatic fanfic pulp, you will like this movie. If you're one of the die-hard Final Fantasy VII fans, you probably won't.

Even though it's graphically amaaaazing.

Dramatic events unfold here on DeviantArt. I am not going to join the protest, nor am I going to pick any side in all this. For all I know, $spyed and °jark may both be lying to us. I'm also not one to demonise a person for making a business decision in his best interests.

It's also my opinion that protesting won't really change a thing. Sure, they will see the community is not happy, but if they're really the vile, money-grabbing fiends everyone here portrays them as, they won't give a shit. And they certainly won't bring °jark back.

I've been around for a bit less than a year now (a bit less than two more weeks to go, and I like getting presents! ), so DeviantArt was already pretty corporate when I got here, I think. I really don't mind at all. I do think it costs a lot of money to keep a site of this size running. I also do think they get more money than they need to put in the site.
But I also do thing there is nothing wrong with that. Think about it. What do you get in return? Your art gets exposure, which would cost you fortunes if you tried to do it in real life. This is even for non-subscribers, who don't pay anything and who just have to put up with some annoying ads.
As long as subscriptions don't become obligatory, I really don't see what all the "omgeeeee, DeviantArt is a big corporation that makes money of us!" is about. Don't want them to make money of you? Don't buy a subscription or print account. It's only a bad thing when you're not given that choice.

But hey, those are just my thoughts.

Soooooooo. 20 minutes ago I had an oral exam, for lay-out. I had to defend my portfolio and all the assignments I have done this year. You know, the ones they said sucked.

I must've misunderstood the whole "defending" part, as halfway through they interrupted me and asked me if I wasn't feeling well. Because I was saying "this sucks and this sucks and this sucks".

Myeah. That didn't go to well.

They liked my final assignment, though. Although I think they were just saying stuff like that to reassure me, so that I would finally start saying something positive.

Also went to a birthday party this weekend; it took me hours to just get there but it was pretty fun, and I'm really glad that I went.

Furthermore... I'm not too overly happy. Feel like there's something missing in my life. Like there's no ulterior point to my existance.

So I'm home today because we have a long weekend apparently... Thursday to sunday, whee. Time for a barbecue!

So, the Illustrator exam last monday... It didn't go too bad, actually. I got really lucky with the questions - the system was that we had to pick one of ten questions/assignments. Each one of them had three vector-images that we had to make; two relatively easy ones and one more complicated. So yeah, looking at some of the more complicated ones, I got reaaaaally lucky. I'd be really surprised if I didn't pass.

But on the other hand, Lay-Out is still shit... Every time I get grades back from assignments, they seem to be getting worse... Which isn't even possible.
I do my best for it, hell I even like some of the designs I make for it, but it's not enough.

On a happier note, I bought an astrology book on my zodiac sign. i almost threw it out the window when reading it, several times. Especially when the writer started saying I need to control my agression.
And all that "self-hypnosis to become a better human being"-shit... Although it was pretty informative. Just a bit preachy. Yes, everyone knows we're the biggest bastards of the zodiac belt.
Doesn't mean we have to change it.

I mean, we have an image to preserve!

The presentation went alright, considering I barely prepared for it and that pretty much everything I said was improv, so yay for that.
I did however arrive at school 13 minutes late because my train had a 3 minute delay, which caused me to miss my bus, which I can only take every 30 minutes. Poo on public transportation, and poo on living in the middle of nowhere instead of in the city.

And I'm procrastinating again.
I was going to work on my portfolio a bit today (which is due the 3rd of May, which is bloody soon), but I'll do it tomorrow. I will. Really.
I was also going to work on that picture for ~AySeGuL-86, but I'm going to do that soon. Soon I say.
Basically all I did today was wake up, watch Dogville while having breakfast/lunch (some might call it brunch but there wasn't any champagn involved ), shaved and took a shower, loitered on MSN and DA, watched Donnie Darko, loitered some more on MSN (which I still kinda hate), watched a taped CSI:Miami episode. Funny how fast a day goes by.

I have to give a presentation on e-business tomorrow. It'll be my first presentation in 2 years. I hate speaking for large groups. I still need to make flashcards, and start to at least try to memorise the info I found. Yeah. I'm quite unprepared.

I forgot quite a few things about it; couldn't be bothered to specify a doctype or to add metatags. Go me.
Handing it in was horrible, yet another proof of my college's trademark incompetence... Instead of just letting us place it on a table and sign a list, we had to go in one by one with our envelope, fill in our name on a piece of paper, throw the entire contents of the envelope on the table and then our teacher would check little boxes on a list to see if we had everything.
I need to give her a flowchart tomorrow. Grrrr.

I'm getting tired of this school, really. They expect perfect results, while they can't decently teach their own subject.
Again, grrr.

Otherwise, things are as usual. Same old stuff came up again. Nyeh.

(Update: Old stuff turned bad. Yay. People always have perfect timing to depress me, right when I have to finish tons of schoolwork - which I can't even find anymore.)

But a Valentine's Demon is on its way, even though it's going to be a week/ a couple of weeks late.

Also, I lost my ring on Valentine's day, which mad the whole day ever suckier than it usually is... And well, been quite depressed lately. I'm probably exaggerating things, but still I feel kinda shitty.

I also got my exam results today, which were better than I expected... only failed two subjects, Maths and Law-stuff... so yeah, should be no problem as I can make up for those at the final exams in June.

It’s at times like these – the fact that it was 7 in the morning and the fact that I came straight from a café not to be taken in consideration – that I start to wonder about life. Not even my life in general anymore, our life as a species on this planet, life as a universal understanding.

And you see, this is the one thing that makes us able to say we are different. We have the ability to think. We have proven that we’re capable of the greatest marvels or the most horrible atrocities if we just put our mind to it. The human mind is the scariest thing any of us will ever encounter – throughout history it has shown us magnificent things, going from the Egyptian pyramids, the Greek temples, the Renaissance all the way to space travel. On the other hand it has shown us through war and torture that it’s also a weapon that will eventually mean the end of us.

There is no telling what 2005 has in store for us; me personally, I think the Apocalypse happened in 2000, but it was not the quick end of everything like most people expected it to be. I believe it was just the start of a series of events – some caused by man and some caused by nature – that is only getting worse. It started out with a terrorist attack, which was countered by a War on Terrorism, and now the world lives in fear and blind hate of everything that is different. And what is different about us? Except for some little details such as skin colour, we are genetically identical. The only thing in which we differ is our mind.

As I watch the images of the disaster on December 26th, I’m filled with an odd feeling of surrealism. At the moment I’m writing this, the death toll is expected to be near 150 000 people. At the same time my mind occupies itself with worrying about my own little problems, that affect no one else but myself.

Our minds are killing us.

The sketches are done, so today I'm going to start on the actual drawing (I think ), and then the whole inking scanning colouring deal... so I'm guessing it'll be done in about 2 days to a week. (Yeah I'm slow.)

And after that it's back to character designing, but for now I'm only going to do characters that'll be in the first episode of my comic. And apparently it's going to rock, according to some people. Meh.

I do not like this summer job. I do however like the considerably large amount of money I get for a day's work.

As a result I am now tired and broken, and still have eight hours of hard manual labour ahead of me. Also, my wrists hurt and my hands are full of cuts. I haven't tried yet, but that can't be too good for drawing...

So if drawing new stuff doesn't work, I'll just keep uploading old stuff like the Gerard comic here every once in a while. My old stuff isn't too bad. Is it?

And to anyone who visits this and cares enough to read this, please leave some comments to my drawings. Pretty please? I don't care if they're good or bad, if you don't like my drawings just tell me what you think is wrong with them, so I know what to look out for in the future.

On a final note, I'm finally starting to have some good ideas for my comic. Gnee. But don't expect any results too soon, I'm a very slow worker when making comics... (Script, character designs, background designs, first sketch everything, then actually draw everything, ink everything, clean it up with photoshop and add colour/shades/blacks - hey, black ink is expensive if you're a gloomy doom boy...)
