I've had a good weekend so far, went out friday night, had fun, stayed out later than anticipated, (but not bothered by that) and managed to damage my throat somehow and now i'm croaking. As i say, it was fun.

As for yesterday, i had a set of 40k battles, my 4th in the week. My first battle was on Thursday and it was me against my friend Scott. He had the first turn, destroyed my Leman Russ exterminator in the first turn, and the normal leman russ in the 2nd turn...because they were put together on the field. Not much went right for me and i ended up losing the battle, i was annihilated. Thankfully, i didnt have to play on that battle ground yesterday.

Yesterday, i had 3 battles...All against Marines, one was a rematch against Scott (Ultramarines), one was against someone called James...Ultramarines...and the last was against Chaos Marines and a teenager called Jack- who im not sure was completely confident of the rules.

First battle i managed to scrape through by the skin of my teeth. I wasnt stupid enough to put the 2 leman russ' together, but did put the manticore near to the exterminator. Nothing *really* takes the most importance of the battle other than the exterminator. Having been unable to fire in the 2nd turn, i decided to try and ram the dreadnought coming up to him, got melta'd close to him. and he then took out the manticore. It really was a case of killing troops as it was an objective fight. All my veteran squads were reduced to non scoring points, and effectively my last turn of firing was all aimed at Marneus + tactical squad who were sitting ontop of one of the objectives, and for once, my Master of Ordanances barrage came down, almost right on top of where it was needed (Uses the scatter dice, always scatters on at least 2 dice, 2 if you get the hit on the scatter, but still goes 2d6 in the direction of the arrow on there, 3 if you get a scatter dice, but if you can see the target you can subtract the ballistic skill) because i rolled a 4 it stayed put and wiped the squad out.

The 2nd battle was alot easier for me. Had the first turn and had a siren going off in my head as a target for my manticore. 1 vindicator, 1 dreadnaught and 2 razorbacks in close formation. Unfortunately, it only took the vindicator out, but he did do more damage to the razorbacks which were hidden in cover - was an annihilate mission. I should have done alot better but i slightly hampered it. My Exterminator had taken the assault cannon off the Dreadnaught, and he went to go to close combat my banewolf...but before he moved it i said how he'd have to hit on 6's. So he went to close combat the Exterminator D'oh. He ripped it apart and then went on to try to kill my manticore, before getting killed by one of my veteran squads. I got lucky in the fact that his terminators + chaplains came down turn 3. My shooting over a few turns did take him down to 2 men, at the cost of a chimaira, the manticore (rear armour) and the command squad. The battle had ended in turn 5, with me 2-1 up kill points. Because some battles were still going on we thought we'd have a bit of fun and see what would happen. His Chaplain in terminator armour, and a single terminator charged one of my veteran squads, but failed miserably and didnt kill, got counter charged in the next turn by my veteran squad, but with some ridiculously poor rolling (2 to hit with re-rolls) i think i lost 2 men from one squad which ran then got back into the fight. Basically speaking, we carried onto about turn 10 - but the result wouldnt matter as it had already been declared. It was a case of working out the result of the chaplain + terminator v the veterans (do have a picture, will be up soon). In the end, the veterans won.

The 3rd battle was very one sided. He had first turn, but had started in cover and the only shooting was obliterators against my leman russ, but failed to damage it. My manticore came down and all but wiped out a chaos squad leading to the survivor (w. chaos icon) running off the field losing a squad of bloodletters. The Manticore + Exterminator did alot of damage to my opponent. The battle was extremely one sided, the only losses i had were a veteran squad and the sanctioned psykers, killed by Abbadon and a terminator squad - who in turn destroyed by a mixture of the manticore's heavy bolter, the exterminator and the bane wolf. Despite being very one sided, the guy i played wasnt too dejected, and maybe i should have been easier on him...but it was part of a league, and i did want to win.

Theres no real update non 40k wise, so if you arent interested in it, close it down now.

I've finally ordered myself a Valkyrie - and should get it tomorrow, and i cant wait. Havent got a clue how i'll load it out - probably a case of the lascannons and the hellstrike missile, with the heavy bolter sponsons, tho i'm not completely sure...and depending how it goes i might get another one. Note, thats a *might*. Amongst other things that i've ordered, i've ordered some of the dead grass, and i'll go about de-basing the Space Marines and set them on the grass instead - as the guys i play with think (and in fairness i do as well) that the "tiled" bases suck. So, as i say it'll be another job in the pipeline.

In terms of gaming - i've got a tournament coming up in about 2 and 1/2 weeks, and its another thing i cant wait for. Without a doubt, it'll be the Imperial Guard army that will be used. Its quite flexible and in my eyes can be suitable to go up against any different army. With the Manticore it can go against tanks or infantry alike, and theres enough variance possible. But, i guess we'll see on the 14th. Looking forward to it, but i do hope i dont go up against my bosses Space Wolf army - he's hoping to get about 3 drop pods painted up in time...Anyone else and i'm happy. LOL

Saying that, my foot doesnt hurt, and it hasnt for some time now, which is brilliant news.

In terms of models, i havent really got much done, since finishing off the psykers + veterans which i think were my last post on here. I had started a squad, basically i've done a whole model aside of basing him, and got the torso and legs of another done, but in terms of guard, thats all i've done...Which isnt good. Tho, saying that, i did look in my drawer of things to do, which contains a couple of drop pods amongst other things, and thought of painting one of them up. The one i'm doing atm is going to stand in as a Dreadnought (typo?) drop pod, as i havent done any of the bits in the middle (tho i will with the next one). Realistically, all i have to do now is 3 more of the "fins" the weapon inside, glue it all together and then do the aquila's on the doors...and then it'll be done. And i cant wait to finish it off. Lol. The other things in the drawers include another drop pod (as you should be aware), a Marine command squad, a squad of cadians (the 20man boxes that is) 2 heavy weapon boxes and another cadian command squad...and theres still some blistered models hanging around, an inquisitor for one, ratlings...the list will go on unfortunately. I dare say half the models on the list will never be completed, but such is the way of things. And its not helped that every time i look on the GW website i see a list of other models i want. I'm gonna look at getting another Hellhound model, a valkyrie, basilisk at least. I'm happy with the ammount of footsloggers i have atm, tho you can never have to many. Tho thats just the Guard...

Other news is i've finally got around to finishing Battle for the Abyss. Hasnt been the best book ive read, neither has it been the worst, but its done with. Like Fulgrim, it didnt make me want to read it till near the end - Fulgrim when it got to Itsvaan 4 or 5, and with BftA, near the time when they've attacked the Furious Abyss on the floor onwards...Then again, i dare say an Ultramarine fan would love the book, as with the Emperors Children loving Fulgrim. The worst book in the series - in my opinion - falls to Legion. To me, it was just damn confusing. All the others that i've read have been brilliant, to the stage where i'd go back and read them. I've got Mechanicum and the Tales of Heresy to read yet, then i'd probably continue reading Eisenhorn till thats read, then have a look see what HH books are released, or look somewhere else in the Black Library for something to read.

Last nights battle didnt go so well. Loyalists lost the battle My units didnt do all that much, the manticore missed with the first missile, failed to penetrate a land raider on the 2nd, destroyed a rhino and some troops in the 3rd...and killed a scout in the 4th (friendly fire Guard style) The Banewolf didnt do a lot, as it wouldnt have done much as everything on the flank was in transport, and despite my hopes that the Chaos lord would have destroyed a dreadnaught leaving him + terminators open to the turret. The Executioner did better, immobilized a rhino + killed about 7 Iron Warriors...and was probably the best unit i had on the field. As for the Psykers/veterans i had on the field, they didnt do much - except for try and gang up on the terminators + lord (couldnt shoot as they were in combat with the dread still). I did have 3 units charge them, The psykers wounded once but it was saved (not bad considering ws 2 v ws 6) one vet squad wounded but was saved, and the other didnt get an attack. It also doesnt take into consideration that the Termies should have attacked first...As per the Ultramarines, Marneus/a Captain/tactical squad came down in the first turn, and eventually ended up taking on a Daemon prince and eventually killing it turn 3, only to be destroyed themselves in the Chaos turn 3. All in all, things didnt really go well in the battle; nothing went to plan.

Oh...and the Tyranid thing isnt going to happen. I tried painting up some gaunts but just cant really get to enjoying painting them up as i do the Guard.

Onto other news, the game that was postponed a few weeks ago is back on. On monday in fact. Contary to what i thought, its going to be UltraMarines + my guard, against i assume The Emperor's Children and the Black Legion. My boss is going to be playing with his Emperor's Children...and he basically knows my army (D'Oh) Saying that, it doesnt matter. The army would have been the same without him knowing, And it basically concentrates around my Manticore and the Banewolf...It would be effective against any army that i went up against, they're both instant kills on a 2+ roll to wound, so unless you have multiple wounds in the banewolf's case, or invunerable saves, anything is screwed...basically. When i said that the Bane wolf would be a pin cushion, to which he said "i know i'll be aiming everything at it"...which is when i found out he was playing chaos. Thankfully, as a fast vehicle it might be able to jump from cover to cover and still fire and avoid all the problems of that...we'll see on Monday. The Manticore should be fine - except for deep strikers...

On the same subject, the Harker model i was going to get is online only. Boo. My sculpting ability sucks, but my boss is nice enough to have offered to make one for me, which is good as he's a brilliant converter. I cant wait to see the model he does, but i dont know when it'll be done. I'm also looking at expanding my models into yet another army. Without a doubt i'm going to stay as an Imperial Guard Commander, that goes without saying, as i'm still going to look at getting a fair amount of troops. I'm gonna look at getting a box of gaunts when i get paid (as well as another Hellhound, dont worry i'm not going to go 'nid crazy) as well as a few of the foundation colours, and if i'm happy with the outcome of the models, i'll look at doing a Tyranid army sometime next year. If you're wondering why so far away, according to The Bell of Lost Souls, theres a possibility of a new codex in 2010... and as i say, it depends on how my paint scheme comes out.

I'm expecting flak out there from the rest of you Loyalist players, but i want to branch away from painting human flesh...and whats better than Tyranids?

I was told yesterday at work i'd have a battle on Monday, so rushed through painting (to pretty tame standards) a Manticore, it could legally be placed on the battle field, its all there. Due to what i did to my foot i got out of work a (few lol) hours early and went to A&E to see the doctor over my foot. That took all of 10/20min (was expecting longer) and i got out and got some painting already done, i just needed to do a few touch ups and get the tracks on today and it was there.

I started to calculate an Army list for a 1500 point army, and got a message from my boss saying it was postponed as one of the players has personal issues going on, which sucks, but its nothing i can help with. My wishes go out to the guy for things to get sorted...despite him being a Chaos player (He's a nice guy!). Regardless, i still worked out the army list, and could calculate it to all but 1500 points, providing i get about 2 models done, 1 being a veteran with a Melta gun, one being a Harker Model for the veterans with the shotguns, as well as finishing off the Manticore, and getting a Dozer Blade painted up to go with the Banewolf. It includes all the tanks i have, the Leman Russ + Executioner, Banewolf, Chimaira and the Manticore, as well as 3 veteran squads, the Sanctioned Psykers + the Command Squad. In fact, the only models i havent included in the army (painted in the right colours so it excludes the Storm troopers) are the Ratling snipers. Which is a shame as i love the models, but based on their exploits in the last battle they didnt warrant a place (had a few turns shooting and killed bugger all...(tho it was against Space Marines!)

After a few attempts, i went downstairs and mellowed out; watched Siobhan's brother play GTA4, then had a chat with Siobhan. Eventually, things sorted out and i ended up getting the Dragon sorted.

Skip forward to today. I had finished the model, apart from gluing it together. I had originally glued the leg on as well as the tail, green-stuffed it and tried all number of things to try get them to stay put, but everything i tried failed and it eventually snapped off. I did get the tail to stay on for a long time, but when it came to trying to do the wings, they wouldnt stay, and eventually the tail broke off (at the join). I've just scrapped off all the greenstuff i used, and the glue, so i'm going to try gluing it again, but if that doesnt work out, i'm going to stop trying.

As i said in the first place, lovely a model or not, its a shame i'll stop, but its not the first time i've had the problem with one of these models

The units that i used were the command squad, ratlings, psykers, stormies, 2 veteran squads, hellhound, banewolf, leman russ vanquisher (1choice) 2 leman russ + executioner (1choice)and a basilisk and griffon (1 choice) As for the others there were about 5 landraiders on the field, a few rhinos razorbacks + predators + many many troops. These'll be seen when i post the pictures up.

I know for a fact that my banewolf (despite sitting still for the first 2 turns) got 9 Iron Warrior kills using its chem cannon, which basically managed for us to hold one of the objectives, which was held by some Ultra Marine Scouts (tho it couldnt kill the last one and had the scouts and an ultramarine combat squad and captain try to take him down. One of the Squads i have didnt do much, they just stayed at one of the objectives in case of deep striking units (Should have had a Daemon prince land on top of them) which landed on some impassible terrain and on the mishap table was allowed to be placed by us. The same happened to a 10man squad of Raptors (woo). The other veteran squad managed to take out a couple of bezerkers from shooting (relatively good in consideration) and then got charged by Kharn and managed to hold him up for a while + help in killing him (tho Marneus Calgar did most of the work). One of the Leman Russ' managed to destroy a defiler in the first bit of shooting, and then the squadron spent the majority of the time aiming for one of the objectives held by plague marines, whom are frikkin hard to kill. The command squad didnt do much, stayed back and used the Master of Ordanace every turn, which limited what they could do. The psykers took 4 members of a raptor squad out (5man) and then got ripped to shreds by a Daemon Prince of Nurgle, and the surviving raptor. the ratlings didnt do much, and ended up running off the battlefield. The hellhound didnt do much, tho was really waiting on one flank to see what happened. The stormtroopers entered the service at the back of the Chaos lines where an objective was, and took a couple of 1000 suns marines out and then got turned into pulp.

All in all, it was a fun battle, and despite starting at about 10am, by 7pm we were still in turn 4, and we blitzed turn 4 chaos by just negociating the important elements - what a chaos dreadnaught would do as it could have affected the result of the battle, as well as a few aspects of close combat. The end result was a victory for the forces of the Space Wolves, Imperial Guard and Ultra Marines, but most importantly, it was fun. It also gave me a few ideas.

1. Bane wolves are cool. But i'm probably going to need more. Be all end all, it can kill normal space marines on a roll of 2+ to wound as its an ap3 weapon - witha flamer template. Because of this, i think im going to need more as if im going to use it again it might turn into a pin cushion.

2. I'm gonna get some artillery. The basilisk and Griffon didnt do that well, but i enjoyed using them, and i might just see about getting a squadron of Basilisks. I'm also gonna get a manticore as i think they look cool. and they seem to have nice stats (d3 blast weapon with strength 10 isnt to be sniffed at)

3. I've gotta invest in some more infantry. I only had 2 objective taking (potential) units, One was all but destroyed by kharn, and the other didnt really do anything. I do still have a box and a half of cadians waiting to be painted up, so its a case of getting round to it.

4. Next time i have a battle im gonna take some paper with me to write down what happens during the battle, and then remember to pick it up at the end!

Regardless. I dont *need* to paint anything up 40k wise at the moment, i have a legal army, and i dont have a battle lined up for a while, so i can take my finger off the pulse a little bit. to this end, i'm finally getting round to painting up another Warhammer Dragon, this time its for myself tho. I'm trying to get it as close to the one i did for Siobhan earlier in the year, just instead of having blue leathery wings, im using Red Gore to do it.

Its a 3v3 2000 point each battle (6000v6000) I'm with Space Wolves and Ultramarines as far as i know, and i think im against the Iron Warriors, Black Legion and another Chaos Legion, tho i'm not sure which. Ive got all the infantry ready to use - im using the 2 squads i have as veterans, and i'm also using the stormtroopers i have in the green colours as well. I've also just recently finished the command squad - so all 5 regular people in there as well as the master of ordanance. I'll upload a picture of each of them singlarly tonight, and possibly a group shot as well tonight or maybe tomorrow.

The only problem i have is is getting the tanks up. I got the Demolisher box yesterday, and as nice as it is theres a few problems. The turret isnt the same size as the older ones, and theres no accessories whatsoever that come with it. I'm gonna paint the turret up (got the cannon to do yet) and then do the banewolf turret, and then see if i have enough time to get the tanks up. Thankfully, i have tomorrow off and friday to get them done.

As for the army list, its a command squad, ratlings, sanctioned psykers, stormtroopers, veterans, banewolf, hellhound, vanquisher (+pask), executioner + leman russ (1 hs pick), griffon and a basilisk. The hellhound, vanquisher, 1 leman russ, griffon and basilisk are being lent to me by my boss at work. It doesnt come out to the 2000 points (of which im sure) so if i can get the executioner tank done ive got another leman russ, and if i can get the banewolf ive got a chimera. Which is good.

On the plus side, i've managed to order more models. Apart from the Executioner and Exterminator Leman Russ', the Bane Wolf and the criminals (whos name i cant remember) I have them all, i just need to paint them all up now. While i was on the GW site, i ordered a Warhammer fantasy Dragon which i'll probably get painted up after i do this next squad, so far i've only got 2 1/2 of them done roughly so i'm not too sure when it'll get done. Also, i'm not too sure how i'm gonna paint it up.

I dont have the time to sit down and write the army list for either atm, (damn work) so it might be tomorrow till you can look and comment on it.

To save a little bit of money, im stealing some models from the green guard army i have. I'm in the process of retrofitting the leman russ and giving it a paint job as it saves me about 30quid or so. I've basically painted it grey just need to work on doing the tracks and sponsons and then sorting it out from there. Money depending and whats going on in other ways, i'm gonna see about getting about 5 different platoons, and then having different set ups for each. For instance, one of the platoons will have mortars as heavy weapons and grenade launchers in the squads, one with lascannons/missile launchers, and one with heavy bolters/autocannons. One probably will have Sentinels and the other the "rough riders" that will actually basically be cadians on scouts, as it would be in keeping with the army. From there, the Ratlings/Psykers/Tanks and Ogryns (if i get any) will be seperate again with different units for each squad, probably. How i'll work it out, i dont know just yet.

If anyone has seen the old old Imperial Guard army list, probably about 1990-95 edition that is, it will try to be similar to that.

Since finishing off the Banesword + some of the sanctioned psykers, i'm doing a test model for the ratlings. I probably took the hardest of the bunch, or one of them. Theres one with his back up against a column with his legs apart but looking down the sight. At his feet is rubble, but a bag of apples (which i hadnt seen) and an eaten apple at his other foot. Doing the outside of the apple is easy, but how should i go about doing the inside. Should i paint it a mix of white and bleached bone 50/50 kinda ratio?

Opinions would be very much appreciated.

I've sorted out what i shall use as a 1000 point Imperial Guard army. There isnt that many tanks - theres only one to be honest But other wise it looks like it'll be a good army. It'll basically consist of the company command squad, 2 platoons with 2 squads in each one having an attatched heavy weapon squad. From there, there shall be a bane wolf (i think its called, the only tank in the army) a squad of ratlings, the psyker squad and a penal squad.

At the current moment in time, (having just had a delivery) i have enough models for the cadian squads, having had 2 of the 20 boxes for a while yet, the psyker squad and the heavy weapon squad. I'm yet to get the ratlings and the command squads which i hope i'll get tomorrow or friday.

For those who have the new Guard codex - The master of arnaments, can it fire once a turn, or do you think it'd be like the space marine chapter master and only be able to fire once. I personally read it as once a turn, but a friend asked me yesterday.

In but a days time, the new Imperial Guard Codex is released in the UK - whoopie. So it's the best time to go back to them. As i said before hand, im going to do an Urban Army in paint scheme, and put gravel on the bases so they look better as well. I've only got the one squad painted up - which has been done for a number of months now...but with the rumours of the new codex i didnt see the point in continuing with it till it comes/came out. I can't wait to get the new models, I've in fact already placed an order, some which is available now, some which isnt, and after that i'm going to have to work out how to convert some things. I had a look in the codex yesterday in store, and i'm going to look at getting some penal legionaires (when you see the codex you'll understand!) and one of the Hellhound variants, but not sure how to go about doing them.

Whilst i was in GW, i also picked up a daemonhunter codex + inquisitor. The whole reason is to get an assasin. Its also because i know i'm going to be against Daemons sometimes, so it should help. Which assasin i'll get im not too sure about just yet. The model i got is going to be slightly converted by someone i work with, nothing major, just a slight change in appearance.

In terms of models, i'm still in the process of doing the Banesword. I've almost finished the full hull - minus the exaust pipes and the cupola hatch and a few hatches atm. I also need to get the weapons done, the twin linked heavy bolters at the front, a lascannon turret and the main weapon, but they'll all probably get done after i make it less grey in colour. Its coming on well...slowly but surely. The Marines will slowly be updated, but for a while my concentration will be on all things Guard probably.

After my first battle not even a few weeks ago, I've got another one tomorrow! Shocking - I go about 10years with none, and i get 2 in a fortnight. Its a "rematch" of the first battle i was at, but its 4 on 2, but to a total of 3000 points - 1500 points for the 2 Chaos players, and 750 for the loyalists each. I very much doubt we'll get a whole battle done, but o well, and this time i'm not listening to my friend as to where to put my Chapter Master, he's gonna do something this battle i swear. I've got the same army that i had for my first battle, but i've got a 10 man tactical squad and a squad of scouts as well. The scouts are probably going to be used as cannon fodder, or just to sit on one of the objectives and hang back, being equiped with a heavy bolter, i wont want to move them, but with 3 shotguns as well they might be able to hold of a chaos marine squad off...(chuckle).

I finally finished Fulgrim a couple of days ago. Its not nearly the best book of the Horus Heresy books that i've read so far - that goes to Galaxy in Flames, it didnt grip me enough till the end. The bit at the end from the "concert" onwards was brilliant. Having played the game and having some knowledge of it, i knew what was to come at the end during the battle, but it was just entralling; I had to finish the book before i went to bed. I havent yet started on Descending Angels, but i hope its gonna be better than Fulgrim.

The battle was really good fun. It was based around a chaos temple held by Iron Warriors, with the 3 different Chapters attacking it. I've got pictures about it, before the battle and during, and eventually (might be the next battle) we're going to set it up the same and attack it again. It ended up in a draw, which was called at about 11pm, having started probably around 7ish. Realistically, with another turn we would have got a result, it was too close to call at the end, but i could have changed that with the last roll of the dice (in a bad way). My assault squad did their job and held up one of the chaos squads by the temple - but they did die. My tactical combat squad would have been on the temple in turn 5 having ran round the village walls. The Dreadnought immobalised a vindicator, and then destroyed it with the last roll. I think it also destroyed a defiler, but there was the Ultramarine Dread round that corner aws well which might have done it. The Chapter Master did absolutely nothing. His orbital bombardment missed, And with the position in which he was set up (I was told to put him there) he missed the battle.

In the last turn, Grey Hunters had arrived at the temple, but an immobalised Vindicator was next to them. I'd already attacked the vindicator with my Dread before being told not to roll a 6 (which could have killed some of the grey hunters) Thankfully i rolled a couple of 4's and a 5, with 3 attacks that automatically hit (immobalised) on the lowest armour, with strength 10 attacks.

At the end of the day, it was a fun battle - which is the best thing. If either side was to have won the battle, we would have had a "re"match for it, with whoever won controlling the town. If Chaos won, they would have got an extra 200 points of daemons, which could be summoned at any time, and if the Loyalists won, they couldnt summon any daemons. As it was a draw, its going to be a normal battle to capture the temple. Or its going to be Loyalists defending the temple with the Chaos attacking, tho the non defensive one sounds better.

In terms of my painting, I'm still going on the Banesword. Appart from the sponson/washes/black the left hand side is done, then I've just got the right hand side and the middle of the tank to do. I might just do this side and then quickly do a marine, the Space Marine sergeant from the command squad.Grey is getting a bit monotomous atm, and i could probably do the Sergeant quickly if i put my mind to it.



I'd like to ask a question for all those that understand the rules well. A Chapter Master's Orbital bombardment can only be used if he hasnt moved. If he's mounted in a Rhino (which has 2 fire points) can he use the Bombardment, as technically he hasnt moved, if the Rhino moves? I dont think he'd be able to, but i could be wrong.

However, I am still painting. Despite still having Space Marines to paint up, I'm diverting my attentions to a different project at the moment. As I said last month, Im actually going to get back playing Warhammer 40,000. Which is brilliant, tho it's been probably about 10 years since I last played, and even that was probably against my Brother. When I was at the club, the people playing were debating about having an Apocalpse battle, which would be good, tho I dont really have a tank thats suitable (I know I've got a baneblade, but thats from an Army that'll never be used - on accounts that I dont like the colour scheme, so I'm in the process of painting up a new tank - Despite what i'd said before. The Stormlord tank + Variants (and obv the Shadowsword + Variants) look too damn good to avoid having one. Not knowing when the Apoc battle is going to be means that painting this tank up takes precidence over anything else. If my boss wants a battle, I can put an army out that is 800 points at the moment, so thats not too bad.

Talking about battles, I'm going to be in one on Thursday. I believe its going to be UltraMarines, Space Wolves and my chapter vs either the Black Legion or Iron Warriors, 1500 v 1500 point battle, I'm not sure. I'm only using the Company Champion (filling in as Chapter Master hehehehe) the dreadnought, assault squad and the combat squad and rhino, the UltraMarine player is likely to have a Dreadnought + Tactical Squad + Captain, not sure about the Space Wolf army tho, or for that matter the Chaos army. I'm going to take my camera to take pictures, which should be good.

Anyway, im fed up of bitching. I'm (well...) back playing War, and i originally started a new Warrior Priest, but i've now gone back to my old one, but I've transfered it to the Eltharion server, where the new one is as well. Basically means that i've missed out on about 13 levels (what a shame) but, im level 29, and i had quite good fun on the Warrior Priest in the Dwarf zones, Captured the 2 castles in the tier 3 area. Didn't loot anything, but it was fun. I've also unlocked the thing to create a Slayer when the Bitter Rivals thing ends...Providing my computer works.

Im still painting up my models, and when i complete the dreadnought, get the AoBR tactical squad, + 5 man tactical squad + a Drop Pod, i'll be 70 points shy of 1000 points. I was also at a gaming club last week, had a good laugh (i was only watching tho) while i was there. It was a 2000 point battle, Loyalist Ultra Marines + Space Wolves vs Black Legion and Iron Warriors battle for a sewerage plant + 2 outlying buildings. It ended up as a draw, but the Chaos players wouldnt do as Khorne demanded (blowing up the sewerage plant) (a rule was no blast weapon firing at the buildings otherwise it would blow it up) basically cost them the victory. Basically speaking, there was Ultra Marine Terminators + Tactical marines on it, and no Chaos by about turn 3...I (acting as Khornes emissary) demanded its destruction on turn 2, with Kharn + 5 Scouts on it. It was fun, and it really got me wanting to play it again. Maybe having no real computer will give me a lot more time to paint my models, so i spose it could be a blessing in disguise, only time will tell.

My next project is to finally complete the Dreadnought that i got with the AoBR box, I've got the main body and feet finished now, its just the 2 arms. After that i'm probably gonna get the tactical squad in there finished, which is only 3 models now i think, so that's good, also from that box is 3 more Terminators, but atm they're on the back burner. Outside of the AoBR box is a couple of Drop Pods, a command squad (which might just stand as the Champion, Apoc and 2 veterans i think, i might see about making a banner and adapting that, because my painting isnt nearly good enough to do what i hope to on the banner thats in there) a 10 man tactical squad, and still the scout bikers, as well as the Space Marine Sarge that you got if ya spent over £50 at the GW website...I think i've got enough models to carry me on for a little while dont ya think?

Outside of the hobby, im back playing Warhammer Online. I really enjoyed it when i was playing it originally, and the only reason that i stopped playing was because i was on an empty server at the best of times, and that most of the friends i was on the server with, decided to f*ck off and go back to...Yes, you guessed it, WoW. Some of my friends created chars on a different server, i wish i joined them in the first place (apparently they were in the group that first stormed the Inevitable City in Europe). Its a shame that i couldnt transfer my character over, i got to level 28 with a Warrior Priest. If anyone has War, plays it, and is on the Eltharion (i think) Server, whisper me, my name is Gaarviel, and im a Warrior Priest (again).

DoW2 is also released tomorrow, and i intend to get up early and have a walk into town to get it...I'm looking forward to it...i might finally end up playing over the internet against someone that wanted me to play her at DoW, but never happened.

Also - I'm getting some more hours at work...finally! Therefore i'll have more money to get models when i need to...especially with the new Stormlord tanks coming out.......

I'm up FAR too early, or should i say ive been up for too long - depends how you look at things. I think i woke up about 4am, and have been reading one of the Horus Heresy books - im only about 1/2 way through False Gods, but i'm enjoying it.

Warhammer 40k wise, i've finally finished my first squad of the army, that being a scout squad. I've got over half of a tactical squad completely painted up - from the AoBR box, as well as the dread that still hasnt been completed since the WIP picture i've put up, as well as the 2 terminators...I'm really unsure why i start models/squads and then start on a different squad - how many of you do that as well? Regardless, theres some models that i've got to paint up before anything else 40k wise (i'm visiting someone next week and i'm painting something for her while im there, but that doesnt count.)

One of the forums that i visit - and some of you do as well i know, the Bolter and Chainsword is holding a challege, you say that you're going to complete x amount of models/tanks etc before the end of February, and i've pledged that i'll paint up 1x Rhino, 1 5 man squad of Assault Marines and 1 5man squad of Tactical Marines. On this end, these are being painted first, without fail, and im possibly about 1/3rd of the way through the Rhino, which is good because its the only one im likely to have a problem with. I'm also considering how i'm going to have the assault marines, whether i should have them with normal backpacks, with jump packs, or using magnets and use both. The flaw that i see is, that theres no points difference to having them with backpacks instead of the jump packs, so is there any point in doing it?

I'm also going to re-think the "layout" of the army. They're still going to have the named "characters" as they are right now, its just with the other squads. Instead of having a squad of Soulfly logo'd, a squad of Fear Factory logo'd, theyre going to be the company logo, so the Soulfly one would end up as the 2nd Chapter, Fear Factory as the 3rd etc, but instead of having 10 companies, its only going to have 5 or 6 - Basically the "Guilliman" set up missing the reserve chapters - the 1st is still the veteran company, and the final one the scout company, Theres going to be a different trim for each of the companies to make it obvious, It also means that the squad with the soulfly logo on it will end up in a different chapter, as they have an elevated arrow on it, as well as a hard logo for me to keep having to paint. Thats the basic thought process i have in mind.

In other news, the work xmas party was last night...and i "shot" myself with one of the crazy balloons that you blow up and then release...As i was blowing it up, it exploded in my eye, things went slow motioned and i saw the bits of rubber hit me. It hurt for a while, everyone (except me at the time obviously) laughed, and i haven't blown one up since, despite people suggesting to me that i should...so they could have another laugh im not sure...Was quite a good party, tho the food was rubbish, as was the Dj...but i spose you cant have everything

Before doing any more Marines, i've got a different project to do - it is still painting something, but its Warhammer Fantasy and not 40k. Its one of GW's Rock Dragons, and its for someone; so it might not be uploaded. Its going to be at least 2 1sts for me, A, its the first dragon ive painted and B, its also going to be done with paints other than the GW ones, im using Vallejo paints. Depending on how it goes, i might start using them "full time". I wont with the Space Marines, as i have too many painted up - but when i get back to the Guard i will - providing all things go well - the workers in the art shop where i live say that the more "experienced" GW painters use them, so its quite possible - hell, its cheaper to buy (1.80 compared to 2.50 (i think) and its more in the pot too!

I'm going to take the terminator torso wip progress off soon, as ive got another picture (still a wip tho) which shows the legs as well, as i'm not too sure whether to do anything else to the it at the moment.

For the future, im almost 95% sure of what my next order will be. Im going to probably get the £50 Marine battle force, as well as a drop pod, but i also might need to get some normal backpacks. I will be having the assault troops without the jump packs, because they dont need them, tho im not sure whether ill condemn the combat squad in the battle force to the bits box and use their jump packs...Might also get the codex as well, and maybe another drop pod and equip one with the deathwind launcher. Depends on how much money i get as wages, and how much i have to spend on xmas pressies, as well as other things obviously.

Slowly working through painting my models up, Warhammer Online isnt helping to be honest - tho i dare say i can put it on hold for a few days as im about 10 levels ahead of the ACTIVE characters of the guild - some had a main to about the 23/24 level and then started on an alt, i've got a few but it depends on my mood. Still enjoying the game, which is the most important part. Painting is also slow work because of a cold - I'm sure you'll agree its hard to paint when sneezing all the time

I'm one Guardsman away from my first squad of the Urban Camo army, which is quite good, yet ive still got tons of them to paint. Having got a set of the new scout bikers, (which will be present in the new Marine army) im debating "converting" some of them into some Rough Riders, bikers will fit in with the army, are cheaper and they look cool, and thankfully seem similar sized in bodies to the Cadian models, little conversions and should be good, only time will tell (ive lost a handle bar set so when i come to painting the last it'll be a test model to see how well it will look Wont be for a while mind)

Marine wise, 4 of the tactical marines are painted up, washed ready for the transfer to go on, tho i'll probably get them all done first. Foundation coating the AoBR dread back atm, the front part is almost finished - just gotta think of a name. Gonna get the tactical squad done then start pondering what to get next - Thinking either a non-jump pack assault squad (if still available) or a devastator squad, and possibly a drop pod or rhino (or both) if its the assault marines, but that a dream for another day, i *might* be going up to see someone very dear to me next week, it depends really on if ive got the holiday, and if im well.

In my own personal news, i've buggered up my camera - somehow. Because of the fact that my tower is down by my feet, ive been prone to running over the usb cables i keep plugged in the front (ipod and camera), so i take them out until i need them, but when i plugged it in earlier, so that i could post new pictures; both for on here and for a contest i intend to enter. The problem is, it came up with the "new hardware installed" or whatever its called, and went thru the wizard thing, ending up that the basic program that i used wont come up, nor the camera one. I can however still take pictures, but theyre only 320x240 sized...and thats with them being taken through the computer. I've tried to reinstall the camera drivers from the cd (didnt find it when it happened originally) which hasnt worked, and ive also done a system restore back to last week...but that hasnt worked either...So im stumped. Any ideas people?

In other news, more akin to what i normally talk about, i've completed my first marine of the new Chapter; The Sons of Malevolance. It is in fact a terminator that ive painted up, and he is from the Attack on Black Reach box set. Ive been working out certain things to go with this "army" - its realistically only going to be a small one similar to the other marine army i have, tho maybe a little bigger, the main focus i have in 40k is the Imperial Guard...and with the urban army im doing is going to be slightly expensive...to say the least. Unlike the other marines, this one will have a command squad, and ive been racking my brains as to what to have as the chapter banner. Someone i watch (Kisaru) has written a speech on a banner, and i was thinking something a bit shorter than what he wrote, and came up with 2 choices. Either an extract of the Churchill Quote "We shall fight them on the beaches..." and ending with "We will never surrender, for we are the Space Marines (or something along those lines), or even shorter (reference to Moses by Soulfly) "So many battles I have fought
So many more, I'm a soldier of God" ...with the God bit as reference to the Emperor of Man. Guess we'll have to wait till i get the models for the answer.

Booked the rest of my holidays (yes, even with 2 days a week heh) till the end of the year, none are of any importance, it was just picked on when was available. I did try and be cheeky and ask for the very last week of the year, but based on the sales it wasnt allowed - dont ask, dont get i 'spose. I did work out that i wont see one of the girls ive got my eyes on, for about a month, she works every other weekend, as well as during the week probably, and i booked 2 weekends at least that shes in, off (if that makes sense). One is the weekend of my birthday, having been booked many a month ago and one is the fortnight afterwards, not sure if shes in for the other weekends ive booked off, i cant remember the dates i booked lol.

In terms of modelling, ive painted up 5 of the urban imps to date, (finished the 5th just before starting this journal lol), and theres gonna be picture of them put up either tonight, after this is done, or when i get up in the "morning". Against what i said on "Brother Celer", im going to leave the bases of the imps as black, and see about putting more punch on the Marines with tiled bases - unless i change my mind again that is. Until ive painted the 10 final green imps, im going to do 5 urban, 5 "jungle", 5 urban then the final 5 jungle - then theyre all done. Im well and truly bored of painting green, but i am throwing ideas around my head about having camo green shoulder pads for the new Space Marines - The main colour is most definately going to be Blood Red, the soft armor will be Boltgun Metal, i know this for sure. Also, instead of having a barbed wire kind of effect on the "chapter badge side of the shoulder pad" Im thinking of having a pattern put between the feet and knees, leaving me more ease to think of a Chapter name/symbol again. The inspiration is [link] Chaos i know, i just wanted some ideas, and this one stood out.

Decided to go into town today, primarily to get some new music - Soulfly's new one, the new Alice Cooper, and i hoped that id picked up Carcass' new one...I didnt know what it was called and had a look on the back of the cd case for the date, saw 2008 and picked it up, only to come home and find out it wasnt the newest, slightly annoyed with myself, but o well, gotta start a collection somewhere havent you.

While in town - Games Workshop is just further than the music shop, i decided to pop in and get more Imp
Guard. I've already ordered 2 boxes of 20, but theres no harm in getting some more surely - especially as i have to wait till September to get them - I advanced ordered Assault on Black Reach - "50 Citadel miniatures, including: a Space Marine Captain, 10 Tactical Space Marines, Five Space Marine Terminators, a Space Marine Dreadnought" - Hell, its worth over 40 quid if i was to work it out, so it was ordered. With that, i ordered the 2 boxes of Cadians, but reading the email, all the bits come together.

The plan is thus: The other box of veterans will be put on hold till i get the AoBR box, and all the bits will go towards the new chapter, im not completely sure about the colours - The main colour will be red definately, and unsure of a Chapter name, but im going to have the chapter symbol as a kind of Barbed wire motif going across the left shoulder pad, possibly working a way of having each company having different colour barbed wire to show what company they come from - but i spose i'll have to cross that bridge when i get there. If anyone can think of a Chapter name, please leave the suggestions below.

The 1st 8 of the new cadians i purchased will go towards the 216 Company, and im also thinking of working a company decision from there. Its probably going to be akin to WW2 platoons - Able, Baker, Easy etc, tho not sure how to designate it atm, mebe an A/B/C whatever painted on the left shoulder - again, suggestions please

In other news, is anyone having any problems with dA? I've tried to look at pictures/journals or post something, and sometimes it comes up with an error page, but when refreshed they work. Odd to say the least, but i do still like the new layout - now that is.

Therefore, my next project is to make a "box" up, have it painted (well, primed with white primer) and put some lighting up inside of it to get better pictures taken to post on here. Shouldn't take long to get done, it just depends on when i can get the wood to start constructing it, then ive gotta work out how to get the lighting done. On [link] there are some led light strips for about 20 odd quid (im rounding up), but im not sure whether to have them in one long strip, or to have one on the top (the total length is 400mm, but they can be chopped down to 100mm lengths) and one on the bottom, to give better pictures, or to have a 200mm one on the top, and a 100mm length on each side for better viewing - guess i'll work that out when it gets to it - as well as which colour to get, white could possibly be the best option, and to have a black background, or to leave it mdf coloured - argh decisions. If anyone has any ideas, lemmie know please.

Im sure that i'll put some logos on it again, but not sure what atm tho, but ill keep this up to date anyway with my decisions.

Out side of the inevitable construction, im not doing alot else. I've stopped playing AoC, it got a little repetitive, but i did like it as a game, it just didnt have the community that (dreads to say it) WoW has. Instead, i'm only really playing BF2 and Footy Manager 2008, but it depends on how i feel.

Painting wise, i'm in the process of (still) painting up the DKoK Thudd gun crews, i've done a total of 5 of the 9 atm, tho due to the fact that i've lost one of them, and one of the thudd guns, it might take a while to be completed, as ill have to order new ones, only i dont know when that will be. I've also got a set of Khorne Bloodletters to paint up, done 2 of them, but intending to complete other projects first. and then, going back even longer, i still have normal cadians to paint up...to get a "proper" imperial army ready (for a battle unlikely to come that is) i need to paint up a total of 12 cadians, and then a mortar crew to complete a heavy weapon squad...Why did this hobby have to be so expensive?

Its been basically 2 months since ive posted anything, tho i have done some work in that time. A Chimaira has been painted/put together, tho its not exactly a model that stands out so im not posting it. I had started on the Death Korps stuff, but ive stopped them for a while, and instead im painting up some of the new Bloodletters of Khorne, tho based on whats come out recently game wise, ive taken a break from them as well, having only painted one of them up fully.

I have been playing the new GTA recently, and ive completed the mission side of the game, im in the process of killing the pidgeons atm, and then its the unique jumps and the criminals till i get the 100% completion. At the same time, im playing Age of Conan, simply stunning in appearances, being able to decapitate people is great, but i think the one failure in the game is the community of the game. Early on when i started lots of people were putting it down because of WoW, but who cares? id rather play AoC for what you can do, than WoW. Alright, im not that far in - i only got level 24 this morning with my Barbarian, but its good fun.

I have also been working on a different project. On the basis that my room is a bloody mess, and i tend to keep my paints in front of my computer monitor, i worked on a cabinet to keep my Xbox, Ps2 and paints on the top as well. Having carved some 40k logo's into the side (the Chaos Gods on one side, and 4 Imperial logo's - Blood Angels whom i had in the first place, Dark Angels and Black Templars (whom ive always liked) and a scythe, that being my own Chapters logo) It was originally going to be BA, DA, Ultramarines and Space Wolves, but the Ultramarine logo is boring from my pov, and the Space Wolves one is to intricate to really be of any good, (the 4 being the "Most Popular Marine Chapter imo - correct me if you will lol). For the reasons i changed it, the 3 real chapters are favorites of mine, and my own Chapter had to really be on there as well. For the top shelf, basically where the paints/paintbrushes and the scalpels are kept, Ive put the Imperial Eagle on there, carved it out then painted it Black - so its visible. As for the rest of the wood, having been made out of MDF, im tempted to stain/dye it, It looks hidious, and im going to eventually change it.

As for now, im going to start painting again soon, first the Bloodletters, then the Death Korp stuff.

I've had a delivery from GW, so new updates will be soon, got a chimaira and a commisar (one of the funky new ones), im gonna finish a normal guard soldier first then do the commisar, then the chimaira. As put on Raemus' journal, im gonna see how quickly i can churn it out; and to achieve that, ill put a new journal up to say when i start it.

Since my past journal i have completed a couple of collections, one being the Full Metal Alchemist dvd's, that being all 50 odd episodes, and the film, and as recently as getting the post, the Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days mangas, that only being 6 mangas, but its good.

Had a break from painting...and returned to the addictive World of Warcraft...after being clean for a few months...but i don't have the account i did have when i began. Got (currently) a level 69 warlock, and I'm loving it (which is half the battle i guess) Anyway, back to business

Finally got round to painting, did a Cadian sniper over a couple of days (hours of actually painting it mind), gonna start on the second as soon as i buy some new undercoat - which might be tomorrow, might not be dont like going into these kinda shops when its school holidays, they tend to be packed, and now that my mate doesnt work there, i tend to get in get out as soon as i can.

I do have my forgeworld stuff, which ill start painting after ive done this second sniper, and after then im not sure what ill get, its probably gonna be an imp guard tank, tho im tempted to get one of the death cart thingies from the vampire counts in Warhammer fantasy, god they look cool...I'm eventually gonna get a Fantasy dragons...gonna kinda be payment for sumit i'll eventually have done...

If anyone reading this :S has any idea what imperial guard tank to buy, lemmie know...

i have a couple of wip's, ones one of the old metal terminators, one of the ones with the thunder hammer and the storm shield (just gotta paint the right arm) another is a kneeling scout (got the majority of the body to paint) and the other is one of the classic metal cadian missile launcher loader, of which im just gonna personalise a little bit and then put up - might be posted tonight, or i might just bulk post them when theyre all done; i will get them finished before i start with the death korp stuff

I hope everyone had a good xmas, and 2007 in general, but 2008 is approaching so its another year to hopefully enjoy.

I'm taking a little break from painting, I'll start again when a few things happen,
A: I get my Death Korp stuff
B: I can get down to Games Workshop in peace (i.e. when the kids are back at school ) to get some bits that ill need for when i do my Death Korps stuff from Forge World. *done. i got bored of doing nothing so i went into town*

Might put some more pictures up before hand, but im not sure atm
