Back in Black

So, as my gallery shows, I've started crafting again. Haven't updated the journal in a while though. Life doesn't seem to want to calm down, so I've forced myself to adapt to the insanity that it will be. I've managed to crank out a series of ties, a new costume, and get myself started on some new projects that occupy what little free time I have.


Upcoming Projects

-Christmas: I'm in the middle of a massive Christmas present for my boyfriend. What possessed me to do that, I don't know. All I know is once I'm done with it, I'm not going to work in fleece again for a while.
-Cross Stitch: I've also started on a massive cross stitch project. It'll be 12" by 16" when I'm done.
-Sewing: I'm done with ties for now. I don't have any more fabric for them for now. If I find something epic or get the paintable dyes I want I'll pick them up again. Maybe even start selling them. Who knows. To fill the sewing portion of my life, I'm going to start on my dream of corset making. That's right, I'm going to try to make myself a corset. I have one I've purchased and another on the way, but I want the satisfaction of wearing one I made with my own hands. Updates on the project to come.

Camera Down

Unfortunately, my camera is having some issues (mainly that I can't find it's charger), so it may be a while before I can post new crafts. I do have some good ones though. I got bored while being a geek, so I made a complete set of Pokemon Gym Badges, and I've been working on some cross stitched Hogwarts house crests. I'll get them up as soon as I can solve my camera issues.


Cross Stitching

So, I've started to cross stitch. It's kind of a return to a lost craft more than a new craft for me, but it's fun. My first project, You Got My Heart, is up in my gallery and it was in my Etsy shop, however it was purchased. More pieces are on the way.

Speaking of my Etsy shop, I had my very first sale! Someone bought my Zelda Valentine's Day cross stitch as a gift for his girlfriend. Needless to say, I'm thrilled. Dormant

As you can see, I've gone slightly dormant. Don't worry, I'm still alive. I've been super busy with working two jobs and planning my own birthday party, but things are starting to wind down a little, so I'll have more time for crafting


Projects

So, I have a couple of new-ish projects in the works. As my bunny plushies have been super popular (and I'm almost done with a pair for ~lenneheartly for her kiriban prize) I'm working on a new plushie type in the same style as the bunnies. I may also start selling them in my etsy shop and put one or two up in *ArtisanCraft's exchange corner. I'm also working on a new series of charms, tenatively titled "Kawaii Holidays." Stay tuned for that.

I have a few projects that need photographing. I made a cool little light for my desk at work for halloween, as well as my first set of hair falls. I'll try to get some pictures up soon.


Birthday!

So, it's my birthday tomorrow, November 4th. My 21st birthday. I'm super excited about it. Hopefully I'll get some craft goodies or money I can use to buy craft goodies so I can get back to the crafting.

Continuing on, I'm bored. I'm still waiting on my second job application to move forward and, because both Fantasmic! and The Haunted Mansion are currently down, I am getting no hours at Disneyland. You know, I didn't think there would be a point in the summer where I felt at least a little bit overwhelmed, but it's finally here. I've been house and pet sitting for a friend of the family, applying for a second job at church and on top of it, I've finally converted to working year round at Disneyland. I get the feeling that I'm gonna be this busy for a while yet.

In other news, Comic Con ruled. There were so many interesting things to see (interesting people too). I ended up not being able to wear one of my cool costumes thanks to my mother's objections, but I pulled together a Battlestar Galactica costume at the last minute. I've already decided that next year I'm going as the Skull Kid with one friend as the Happy Mask Salesman and hopefully another fulfilling our Link requirement. I'll be working on at least my costume, and likely bits and pieces of the boys' over the next year, so y'all can look forward to that.

So, I'm going to Comic-Con for the first time this year. Hurray!! In the spirit of the Con, I have decided that I need to cosplay. I have two options that are already made and have been worn previously in a Ghostbuster and X-Wing Fighter Pilot, but I feel like something new. As you can see, I haven't updated in a while. I have a perfectly good reason of course. School. Lots of it. And issues. Apparently it's not a good time to be the friends or family of me because in the last three weeks there have been six random hospitalizations of family and friends and one death in the family, as well as my car dying, but he may as well be family. Luckilly, it looks like all that is over, so it's back to doing... something.

Next week is Finals Week, so I doubt there will be much from me then. The week after I will be working (Hello Disneyland! The time has come, my children, when I shall accept comissions in any medium I work with. Knitting, crochet, chain maille, anything. However, before we get started, lets go over some guidlines:

--Most of the amigurumis (stuffed dolls) I am not able to sell... yet. If I receive enough requests for them I will try to negotiate something with my fellow artist to bring them to you.
--I do not stock every ring type to make everything you see in my gallery. Sometimes your order may take longer because I must order the rings from my supplier and reveive them myself.
--Prices are done on an individual basis, based on:
a. The material. Obviously a piece of artwork done in silver, gold or titanium would cost more than an amigurumi or plushie.
b. The size. Again, rather obviously, a bigger piece will take more time and will be more expensive.
c. The urgency. If you need something urgently, I can do it, though it will be more expensive than if it was a normal order.


Now a few notes about chain maille pieces:

--I can and will work with just about any material sold by The Ring Lord. Take a look around their site, find your material of choice, but keep in mind that if I don't have the material in stock it will take more time for me to make your piece.
--I can and will make most anything you could want or need out of maille, though I do tend it stick to jewelry and purses.
--I can and will make peices in almost any weave shown on the M.A.I.L. Weave Index. Have a look around there, pick what you like, but keep in mind again that some weaves are not suitable for some applications and are certainly not as pleasing to the eye as others.


And now a few notes about yarn projects:

--I can and will work with almost any yarn made by any company out there. Heavy or light, wool or sythetic, smooth or novelty, it doesn't really matter to me. Some yarns will take longer for me to receive, especially if it is a rare yarn I have to order online. Prices will reflect that.
--Harry Potter scarves are popular, but they are my most difficult iteam to make and the average scarf takes me 750 to 800 meters (820 to 875 yards) of yarn and over a week to make. Keep that in mind when ordering.


How about plushies:

--As I said earlier, I cannot make and sell many of the amigurumis that are shown in my gallery. Their designs do not belong to me. If there's an ami you're interested in, note me and I'll tell you if I can make it.
--Fabric plushies are mostly fair game. Makar does not belong to me, though if I get a few requests for him (or any other plush I cannot currently make) I'll speak to the artist who owns him and see if something can be arranged.
--Different materials cost different ammounts and a plushie's cost will reflect that.

Perler Sprites:

--These are quite possibly the easiest thing in my gallery to make. Lynn, the largest of my sprites to date, took about an hour for me to complete. This means that the sprites will be the least expensive of my items available.
--Sprites can have magnets attatched or not. I could also make them into key chains, but that would mean I would have to iron them more heavilly than I like and they would be flatter and more 'blendy' than the ones shown in my gallery.

Fangirl, Flag, Symbol (or any other) Charms:

--Along with the Perler Sprites discussed above, my charms are the least expensive think in my gallery. Since they're just shrinking plastice, colored pencil and embossing powder, they're very quick and easy to make.
--I can turn almost anything into a charm, but symbols, logos, icons and the like are the easiest thanks to their simple shapes and/or strong lines. The more complex a piece, the more expensive it will be.
--Most of the charms shown in my gallery are about an inch across when finished. Some are a little bigger, but I try to keep them fairly small. If you want a bigger charm, it'll be a little more money.
--I can combine the charms with other crafts and make necklaces, bracelets, keychains or whatever else you may want.

I am going to be starting to take commissions soon, likely as soon as I get my paycheck and order more ring and actually get said rings in the mail. Until then, have a look around, jot down anything you may like, and check back in a couple of weeks on my commission status. Actually, if you intend on commissioning something from me, it would really help if you sent me a note so I could get an idea of what it is, especially if its chain maille. Until then, cheers.
