Last week, I sold one of cameras, the Olympus C-8080WZ. It's a really great camera with which I've taken many nice photos. For example -

[link]
[link]
[link]
[link]
[link]
[link]

It was a hard decision, and I will miss it C-8080WZ is built like a tank, and has a super sharp F/2.4 lens.

However, the reason for selling it is because I picked one of these bad boys: [link] Overall, it's a better camera with one significant shortfall: no manual controls But, it has one huge positive: it's small and IQ is actually better all around (especially when light is less than perfect). As far as having manual controls, I still have my Sony A200

I remember not so long ago it was 100,000. Also got an even 8888 pageviews today - I enjoy numbers like that.
1) New camera incoming. I got a wicked sick deal on it - $200 shipped - [link] Something that I wouldn't worry about breaking as much as a DSLR. One nice thing about is the electronic viewfinder - I grew to like it on my Canon S2 IS. One thing I know I'd miss on it is image stabilization. Nevertheless, a very formidable photographic tool with a sharp wide angle lens which I look forward to using.
2) Finally picked up a 50 mm f/1.7 prime for the Sony A-100.
3) Planning to go on a trip to California for the Indian Wells Masters tennis tournament. This will happen in the middle of March.
4) Next week is off school, so if the weather cooperates I might be able to get some sunsets

You know, I've always hated politicians. They are mostly scumbags who will sell you out and do what they wish. Their words means nothing - chicken shit to keep them in power mostly. I am sure many young people share this viewpoint. This could explain why I've never really been involved in politics to any extent. I've always considered myself a "liberal" mostly because I got to live next door to Bush's "conservative" government. This is the first time I have ever tried to endorse a political figure. The main reason is that I've never been impressed by one until now.

A couple of days ago I've come accross something I have never seen - a politician that I like! He's a conservative, but very different from Bush and the other warmongering b!tches who eat babies (j/k). And his daddy doesn't own an oil business, seriously. He makes sense, speaks sincerely, and caters to no special interest groups. About the only thing I disagree with him about is abortion (he's against it). However, he states that this issue is not under his authority as president. See his debates on YouTube - [link] - with other candidates. Very interesting stuff.

The man I am talking about is Ron Paul. He is a "constitutionalist" - someone who believes that the constitution should be upheld. To me, this makes perfect sense as I believe the American constitution is a very well written document.

Main points for me
1) Non-interventionalist foreign policy: talking to nations rather than maintaining an empire that costs $1 trillion/year. (This is definitely not isolationism as some people mistakenly think). Spending money oh defeding American rather than policing the world. Democrats usually pursue a more aggressive foreign policy.
2) Reduced taxes. Possible complete abolishment of the IRS. Income tax can be gone.
3) Respect for personal liberties and rights of individuals.
4) He is not a little chicken shit who is afraid to come out and state his views conclusively on issues.
5) Nice personal record - volunteer doctor for many years.
6) Great voting record in congress (see for yourself).
7) The only person among democrats and conservatives to advocate a pull out of Iraq (see his reasoning before disagreeing).

So if you are an American and have not gotten a chance to get to know what Dr. Paul stands for, please do so. It's everything that I ask - read Wikipedia, watch the YouTube debates with him. Don't let mainstream media rob you of choices. Please note that you have to be a registered conservative (which can be done online) to help him in the primaries.

As for me, I am long done with exams. I am heading to Dominican Republic on January 1. The scenery looks VERY nice from what I've seen. Expect first works to be appearing around Jan 10.

December 1st is here and it's freaking snowing outside. Environment Canada is forecasting the coldest winter since 1994. What does this mean? Lots of spectacular sunsets around here! Believe me, chances are much higher for a nice sunset when it's cold than when it's 10C and raining.

As you may have noticed, I already had some chances to get out there and snap some photos. Some good ones, but nothing mind-blowing yet.

On another note, I am now done with the first semester of my final year, so I will be having exams until Dec 19. Exciting stuff :-\

Erm, the weather has been just terrible! We must have gotten around 100 mm of rain around here in the last week alone. No sunsets whatsoever either. Good news on the weather though, rain should end tomorrow. Then it will be sunny for 5 days (if the forecast is to be believed). I sure hope so.. clody weather in the fall = best sunsets ever around here.

Went to a Ozzie Osbourne & Rob Zombie concert yesterday (alone because friend got alcohol poisoning :-\) and saw some VERY nice special effects there. I would love to take some shots of that, but of course cameras are not allowed. Not much of an Ozzie fan, but Rob Zombie was awesome.

Other than that, midterms and school work are all over the place. Sports is also taking much time. In addition, I've developed a habit of downloading tennis matches and watching them. It's cool, but the good ones are usually 3-5 hours long.

I look forward to AFTER this Wednesday: good weather + some free time. Hopefully there will be something to photograph!

Tomorrow, I am heading out to a great place - Black Tusk. It's on the way to Whistler, about an hour from Vancouver. We'll be hiking a relatively easy trail (15 km * 2, but with not much incline). There are a few very beautiful lakes there (each with a distinct shade of excellent blue), and overall great scenery. Whistler itself is visible as well from there. I've been there before with a crappy camera which I didn't know how to use 3 years ago. Some beautiful landscapes, though. The weather was perfect for photos (a slight cloud cover, not dense) and we went towards the evening, so it was excellent.

I am back. I've been to Frankfurt, Russia, and Paris. I got 3500 photos, of which perhaps 50-100 have something resembling artistic value. It will take me VERY long to go through them and pick out and post-process the good ones. This work will begin after July 26.

While I was away, the number of times my works have been viewed has passed 100000. A milestone of sorts, I guess

I am leaving to Russia for month on my exact one year DA anniversary, how cool is that?

That means I probably won't be posting much from there (not much Internet where I am going), but I will be taking a lot of interesting photos. I will drop by Frankfurt on the way there for a day and Paris on the way back for a couple.

Bringing my Canon S2 IS and Fuji F10 with me. Leaving A100 at home because I wasn't able to get a 28-300 lens for it in time that I've been looking for. I don't want to be dragging all 3 around, so I'll stick with the flexible range S2 offers.

So long!
