I was going to say I'm still alive, but now I can't stop thinking about the song:
[link]

Anyway. Random update:
-Went to Israel(Tel-Aviv) for winter break to visit my bro and dad. It was pretty safe because Tel-Aviv is still out of the missile-range, so no problems there. My bro and I went to Acre (Akko), so fun. He was pretending to be Altair from Assassin's Creed >.>;; (good we went when we did, 'cause Israel got attacked from the north shortly after) <.<'''.
-Got a TV for the dorm (finally!). Flatscreen 19". It was cheap, but tax on it was around $40!! wtf?! l:c
-Ordered a PS3 (only reason I got a TV, virtually) and Little Big Planet .
-Classes are pretty cool. Except for that one day where I have classes from 9am to 9pm with only 2hrs in-between.
-earphones died, so I ordered a pair of red SkullCandy headphones (got a used pair, so pretty cheap ).
-Need to go to a real supermarket instead of just living on Rice and canned food from Walgreens (I still love you, Walgreens).
-Discovered some new songs to rock to (new to me). like Kids by MGMT and a bunch of songs by the Killers.
-Someone lent me a Wii, playing that until PS3 comes.
-looking into making my own chocolate molds from weird plasticky mold clay (healthy for chocolate-making uses).

!!!!! so many things waiting in the mail. excited

I want to go "EEEE" in a very girly way, but my roomate would not approve.

"and when you're dying I'll be still alive. and when you're dead I'll be still alive"
(portal on mac = win)

But there may be an easier way out of this.
Apparently (and I'm the biggest idiot in the world for not realizing this sooner and/or not paying much attention to it) there are barely any classes in SAIC (school of the art institute of Chicago) that involve Animation or Game Design (the two areas I want a career in some day).

sooo..... I have two possible options:
1. Transfter to another school (BIG pain in the ass/risky)
2. See if I can take classes in these fields through another school (if this is possible).

I'm going to talk to my academic advisor real soon. But if there is no way I can take classes that involve these subjects, then I'll have to look into doing a transfer....

If anyone is in a good school that has a lot of animation and game design, or knows someone who might know a lot about this, leave a comment.

As if I wasn't already stressed out enough >_>;;;;;;

P.S: this school is REALLY into conceptual stuff.
Well, I don't want a thing saying "leaving for SAIC!" if I've already been here for about 2 months >.>; ...

School Update! :

So far it's awesome here. I love all of my classes so far (though there can be some ups and downs with Core and Research class. Even though most of my classes are first year requirements, I at least get to take one elective (3D!!).

I want to take anything I can that has to do with animation and the gaming industry, but I'm not sure there are many (if any) classes that have to do with gaming. I know there's one class that deals with analyzing games (design, plot, the way they work, etc.) so that's awesome. Guess I have to wait until next year when I can take more classes related to my "major" though.

btw, there are now majors. This means I can take ANY class I want without being restricted to one field. And every class is pass/fail, so that instead of focusing on the grade, you can focus more on the art without stressing out. At first I thought this would just make me lazy. But instead of a grade to make you nervous, there's this great sense of competition. So if I slack off and someone makes something that blows my mind, it motivated me to try harder. ARGH but I'm procrastinating right now when I could be doing my long-term core project (and artist presentation.

just to clarify, Core = focus on technical skills and working with diff. mediums Research= conceptual ideas.
technique vs. concept

Today update:

Went to buy cloth for my core project (it's a huge collage the size of my bed. One of the biggest things I ever worked on, so scary) and the women I was getting cloth from were SO BITCHY. I was with a friend of mine, and when she went away from the counter to fetch some more cloth, the women at the counter said:

"how can they pay for so much cloth?"
"oh. they don't pay for it. they get their money from someone. they ALWAYS get their money from someone. like their parents"

and they talked about this in such a shitty derogatory way that made me and my friend seem like ungrateful kids that just use up their parents money. ARGH it just makes me so mad l

On a another note. We stopped at an awesome bead store and made necklaces. I found this awesome metal fish with big red eyes and put it on a silver string with beads that look just like the eyes. yaaay it looks kickass. I'll post a picture.

I'm so happy I'm finally working on this intimidating project!!!!! And I'm learning how to make plushies so that I can earn some extra cash (but mostly because it's fun).

HAPPINESS

I think I just need to find more expensive things to sell.

Still suffering from chronic senioritis. I always said that I would make huge awesome paintings if I had the time...
I'm stressing out so bad right now. I need about 4 pieces for a concept for my Chicago merit scholarship.

The only problem is, my concept revolves around architecture and I can't do architecture. I really suck at it, apparently. T_T

"So why don't you think up another concept?"
Me: why? Because I can't think of another concept, that's why! I have a few weeks to make several illustrations of a concept and I'm stumped.

Current concept:
My concept was (and this may be a little confusing without visual aid) that I would make a painting (watercolor) of rooms with the floor being a mirror, or some sort of reflection. So this reflection would look like the same, just upside-down but underwater. So it would look like a flooded room, basically. The reflection would be kinda blue or green and murky. Plus, there would be eerie glowy lights underwater and something to show it's water (an object or person halfway through with ripples and stuff.

But: I can't do interiors very well, and can't really do water. (plus I have a bad feeling about the whole thing.

Soooo, I'm desperate for any sort of help. I need a concept that does not involve too much scenery or architecture. Something clever. I'm kind of feeling guilty, becaues I would feel like I'm being cheap and stealing someone else's idea. But I need help!!
However, I'm not exactly swimming in money, so UARTS may turn out to be my best choice in the end.

What to do!

Then again, I haven't applied to ever school yet, so there's still time. Plus Chicago didn't tell me if they'll offer me any merit or financial money...
What's happening:

-Went to dentist (got my first tooth x-ray, all good. I want to keep the pictures! D: ).

-Endless college prep, portfolio needs more "emotion" and not just works that are good quality.

-Buying Okami game-art book soon, hopefully.

-Dressing up as either Samara (The Ring) or the Grudge. Or both.
My hair is good for the role, but I got a long black wig anyway. Now i just need a white nightgown. Maybe I'll use red acrylic paint for an extra touch. Or does that ruin it? Opinions?

Sorry, everyone. I'v been gone on a vacation (within a vacation) on the Island of Asos (which is right next to the island of Lesbos, did they name them that on purpose like that??).

So I'v been swiming in cool ocean water, chasing uncatchable fishies. Because I'm such a lousy swimmer, I panicked when the water got a little bit too wavy (lots of wind) and swallowed a whole bunch of sea water. Yay.... But Turkey was really fun altogether....

I'm coming back on Saturday, so I might upload some new stuff. I took a bunch of pics of mosques, including a ton of panoramas (which I'll post).

It's been good!

The time has finally come, the RISD pre-college program is finally over *leans back*. Well, even though I'v been here for like 6 weeks, I feel like it's all been just one big blur. I feel like I haven't been here long at all O_o.

I need to pack, but I don't have the will power....

Oh, I went to see Transformers today. Pretty cool graphics and some funny bits (the two main human characters were making out on a transformer in the end! He was a car at that moment, though. -_-). I went with Snow-Chan, Aaren, and Heilos. Check out their cool art.

But I gotta say, Ratatouille (spelling?..) was by far the best movie I'v seen this summer. GO SEE IT. And the short movie, "Lifted", that comes before it is absolutely AMAZING.

I need to go PACK......And when I get home I'll begin reading DEATHLY HOLLOWS!!! And a week later I'll spend two weeks in Turkey to visit my Dad. Yay! So I may be on less, for I'll be visiting many cool mosques and stuff.

So long and goodnight

I'm leaving for RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) for a summer program soon (June 23rd)..... I'm so nervous... I bet there are going to be a million kids there with really good art. I bet my art will look like crap up there -_-. But I can't let something like that stop me, I need more experience...

Just had my last test (chem regents), so now I'll hopefull post more art. I'll post as much as I can (depending on my energy level), and when I return around september, I'll post a whole lot more.

I'm going to Turkey too. So I'll be away for the entire summer. But I'm still logging on to check comments (though I get very few T_T).

'Till next time!

btw, does anyone know how to put images on a journal entry? I went to the FAQ and found a format and put in the URL and everything, but it still did not work..

This summer I hope have an oppourtunity to update my account since I'm first going to a summer program at RISD and then I'm going to Turkey to visit my dad (who is living there for a year). Usually I visit my home country, Israel, but not this summer.

Alright, that's all for today. I'm now going to watch a movie (no one's home, yay!) with a bowl of Life Cinnamon flavored cereal..... mmm..... (jeez, I'm such a freak O_o).
