I'm a proud father of a nice little girl, 16 months old. I'm not really fond of people publishing their beloved children in a supposed artistic gallery... I restrained myself !

I got engulfed in my job (IT project manager, contractor), things are going well, so well my current client is going to make me sign for them with my blood and so on, mwahaha, mwahaha. I'm just getting more and more involved with this "small" french bank, as my new employer. In these times of unemployement, it's a good thing.

I'm not doing a lot of photos, and only a few of them are almost good. Well, I wanted to start my devArt gallery as a graphist, not a photographer, anyway.

I'm not playing as much music as I once did, stopped giving guitar lessons, stopped with my band, but still going on with my whole equipment (guitars, bass, drums, synths...)
I invested in some lights, which is reaaaaaalllly lots of fun to play with : smoke, moving lights, strobe, changing colors, rays of light... and the whole DJ stuff to get along.


With all this, the very few people wondering where I was up to know almost everything !

I'm still coming to visit DevArt, at least once a month, if you want to leave me a message, I will read and answer !

There were many things... pregnant, dare I say :D

So :
1- my wife and I are expecting our first baby, a girl (for something like the end of November)

2- I started my band last year, we played a few improvised-music concerts, and we're trying to compose some stuff to play.

3- I have been commissioned twice to take photos for weddings. :D
I could earn some money, enough to pay my small 4x6 (10x15 cm) photo printer.

4- I have resigned from my job, and found (before I sent my resignation, in fact) another job. Better wage, better job, or so I hope (I started 3 weeks ago, but I still haven't had any work to do. In this job, this means staying at home, but still being paid. You read it well)

5- since last year, I entered my Martial Arts Association's bureau, in order to represent karate's interests ("against" judo and ju-jitsu representatives)

6- I have been occupied each evening, for all this year : with my karate lessons, my band's rehearsals, my guitar students and all...

7- for all this time, I have been coming to visit DeviantArt, looking at my deviantWatch list and all, but didn't have the time nor the will to submit anything new.

8- my free time, and even my vacations' time has been devoted to my house.


Now you know why I'm not that present here in DA, yet I'm still passing by, and I hope to hear from you too ! :wave:

Voici la version française de ce petit bulletin. Ce n'est pas une traduction directe.

J'avais pas mal de choses sur le feu depuis l'année dernière, et je dois dire que je n'ai pas été déçu...
- J'ai fini par quitter la société qui m'employait, avec signature d'un contrat dans une autre société. Ca n'a pas encore vraiment démarré, bien que je sois employé par cette nouvelle société depuis début septembre, mais je suis quand même payé... en espérant que ça ne va pas durer.

- ma femme est enceinte, notre fille naitra vers fin novembre, c'est donc pour dans pas longtemps.

- mon projet musical avance à pas comptés, avec un gros hiatus pendant les vacances. J'espère qu'on va pouvoir redémarrer bientôt.

- j'ai fait les photos pour 2 mariages. Lors du second, j'ai pu vendre des tirages effectués sur place avec mon imprimante 10x15cm. La formule marche bien et m'a déjà permis de rentabiliser mon imprimante.
Reste à voir à quel rythme je pourrais recommencer, et ce que je pourrais éventuellement financer de cette manière. Un EOS 5 D (ou son successeur) me permettrait d'assoir une crédibilité que je ne me sens pas encore avoir complètement. A suivre.

- Je suis rentré au Bureau de l'association des Arts Martiaux dont je fais partie... ça fait quelques préoccupations en plus, et pas forcément beaucoup de satisfaction, mais bon, je sers à quelque chose.

- tous mes soirs de semaine ont été occupés sur toute l'année scolaire écoulée : entre la musique, le karate, et les cours de guitare que je donne, je n'ai pas eu beaucoup de temps libre. Je pense prendre moins d'élèves en guitare cette année, le rapport gain / temps passé n'est pas très grand sur cette activité.

- Je ne suis pas parti en vacances cet été. Entre la fin de mon 1er CDI et le début de l'autre, j'ai pourtant eu tout mon mois d'aout : j'en ai profité pour refaire tout mon salon. Electricité, plâtres, murs, plafond...

- Je n'ai pas perdu tout contact avec Deviant Art, mais franchement, et bien que j'ai des tonnes des photos intéressantes, je ne me suis pas senti très motivé pour venir poster ici.
Peut être que ça va changer, mais pour le moment, c'est pas parti pour.

my band, my musical project, is finally getting slowly started.

We already have something like 3 to 4 new songs, which have yet to be finalized.

The main parts are already programmed in my hardware MIDI sequencer - expander (a Yamaha RM1x) , using many of its internal sounds, as well as sometimes my Korg MS 2000 synthesizer for some spatial sounds.

I am playing the bass on one song, the guitar (my faithfull 7 strings Vigier, remember) on another.

I'm using my DX 7 synth to get a typical 80's bass sound on a song composed by my fellow musician Philippe, for which he's singing and playing the guitar (a very cooooool holidays beach and sun and ... song)

I have some more things waiting to be played and finalized, too, and a drummer that will soon play with us.

What can I say ? It's pure bliss !
When I get some time available, and we have some songs ready, I'll put together

- my band, my musical project, is finally getting slowly started.
Yes, I've started new songs, I've found another guitar and keyboards player, who's also a singer, and I've found a drummer, too. Now, we're beginning the slow process of creation, since we're creating new stuff only. It's mostly exciting, and I hope I'll tell you some good new about it soon.

- getting involved with boardgames playing and an association devoted to that kind of fun, I'm meeting lots of different people (my drummer, for instance), and spending long evenings socializing around a table a some good games (ever heard of things like Caylus, Jungle Speed or Funkenschlag ?) is a good way of letting the steam out.

- now that I'm a karate brown belt, it's the black belt I'm working for :D , and I'm now involved in getting people to know our martial arts association.

- I'm still teaching the guitar, and I'm trying to make my lessons clearer and more efficient. One gets the students one desserves, and after a good year with them, I'm trying to have an even better year :aww: !


...with all that going on, I'm still taking photos, but the time I used to spend here in Deviant Art I don't have anymore. Je cherche des musiciens pour participer à un projet (musical, évidemment), lequel habite mon esprit depuis quelques années maintenant.
Je cherche essentiellement des gens jouant de plusieurs instruments, des amateurs de niveau correct qui connaissent bien leur instrument principal, et qui en pratiquent d'autres.

Je suis pour ma part guitariste, mais je joue aussi de la basse, du synthé, et il m'arrive de jouer de la bombarde, j'ai joué de la flute traversière et je m'essaie au violon électrique. Il peut m'arriver de jouer des percus et de chanter.
... et je cherche des gens du même type, prêt à passer de leur temps libre dans un groupe de musique moderne, pour de la composition, à la croisée du rock, du metal, des musiques électroniques, de la chanson, du progressif, de l'expérimental, de la fusion............... tout ça, oui.

Et comme j'habite dans le val d'oise (95), pas bien loin de la Seine St Denis (93), je cherche ce genre de gens dans mon secteur.

L'idée, c'est d'avoir une configuration de groupe non figée, et de ne pas se cantoner à un seul instrument. Pas de phénomène de "chasse gardée", pas d'étalage de technique, tout pour la musique


Mes autres projets :
- je suis depuis peu en contact avec le milieu associatif (grâce au jeux de société), et je vais peut être avoir des opportunités de reportages photo... :D
- je vais essayer d'avoir ma ceinture marron (karate shotokan) pour cet été
- et le projet le plus important : avoir un enfant (après le mariage, la maison... logique)

I'm currently trying to find musicians to work with. This may be the good try to achieve a personnal project that has been in my mind for some time.
I'd like to gather a bunch of good -yet non professional- musicians, people that are good at one instrument, and which are able to play some other ones, so that the band would be in constant change.

for instance :
I am basically a guitarist. I can also play the bass (I did in my previous band), and I'm playing lots of keyboards, originaly to compose my own music on a computer.
I'm also learning, form time to time, to play the bombard, and very recently, the
electric violin.
I once played the flute as my main instrument, and I -sometimes- try to sing.
I like to play some percussions, too......

Yes, that makes many things, and someday, I may show you my small realm, the room where I'm playing all that stuff. But don't get mistaken, I'm not good at all with all these instruments, except for the guitar (which I'm teaching).

And now I hope I'll find polyvalent people, drummers that can play the bagpipe
(hmmm, yes, that would be so goooood !), singers that can play drums, of keyboards, or whatever...
... and I expect these people to have creativity, open mindness, all of that in a rock-metal-electronica musical context !!
On top of that, I'd like these musician to be able artists in other domains.


Soooooooooo..... If you're living in France, near the north of Paris, and you fit my
description, leave me a note, it would be great to have some deviants in my band !

Other personnal projects include getting my brown belt (shotokan karate) before this summer, and having a baby.

I just submited 3 new deviations, yesterday evening.
These are new works, for real.

Being now some kind of old deviant, I have known different periods of time. I am now at the very begining of a new one.

- I started manipulating and creating pictures a long time ago. My first digital artwork was created on an ATARI ST, when it was still a rather new and powerful computer.

- I started again with my first Windows-based PC, with PaintShop Pro 4 and a bit later, Photoshop 4. I was mainly tweaking scanned photos, webcam shots, drawing some useful things for my personnal web site.

My first digital camera was a Minolta Dimage 7, and with it I began a new artistic time.
Today, I still consider most of my my best shots were made with this camera ("Noble Steed", Dead Realms deviations...)

- Today, I own a Digital Rebel XT, and I still have to improve my results with this camera.
I should first recover from the shock of having such a quality at hand, I should try to learn to compose properly a picture, and to expose it how it should, I should work, work, work...

I now have much more deviations in my gallery storage than in my visible gallery, and I'm thinking of putting them all back to view, someday, to gather some more comments.
I really would like to hear the harshest comments on my pictures, so that I could see the direction to improve. But I don't want to hear clichés, or mainstream-based critique.
Because I want to find my personnal style, for real.


The ideal would be to find some critiques from people that would try to understand what was in my head, and where I'm trying to go, and I know it's not bound to happen, here in DA.

I'm eager to get to my vacations location, since I couldn't spend as much time as I would have liked my my new photographic setup :

- my Canon Digital Rebel has been put to little use since I bought it (except for some weddings)
- I managed to get a Sigma 135-400 mm lens for Christmas, but this will be the first opportunity to use it seriously (for birds, mainly :p)
- I bought a Sigma 10-20 mm, and I'm eager to get into my favourites mediaval towns and ruins. You got it : it's not modern buildings I intend to shot with this wonderful baby.

Moreover : I now have my internet connection back at home... with a new computer, too !
( a dual core AMD, with SATA II hard drive and some more delicacy )
This means I will probably "be back", for real, in my DevArt space, with new things to put in my gallery.

It's been a while since I have been here !

The reason is quite simple : I moved during my vacations, and I am now living in my own house.
I spent all of december emptying my furnitures and moving my belongings to a great number of cardboxes. I moved right after I signed the legal papers, just before the new year's eve. I spent the rest of my time emptying the forementionned cardboxes, and searching for my belongings. :D

With all of this, I couldn't find the time to work on any picture, even thought I could take a fair number of new photos...
... because under the Christmas tree I found a new lens which I HAD to spend some time to play with : the Sigma 135-400 mm, which is quite a big babe, and for which I've been longing for some months. I spent some time getting familiar with its handling, shooting
some birds from my house's windows (I'm now living very near from a forest).


I still don't have any Internet connection at home (it's always taking some time to get one after moving), and I've been waiting to get it again at my office.

Now I fell like a submariner, back to solid ground after a 6 months trip under the sea ;)
Perhaps is it time for me to get back to Deviant business ?

- 135-400 mm Sigma lens (the newcomer :p )

- a light cheap tripod
- some very small very cheap table tripods
... and a bunch of SD and CF memory cards

- Nikon Coolpix 3700 (small and handy)

- my personal computer (based on an AMD Athlon 2000)
- Archos GMini 400 (20 Go Compact Flash card reader / MP3-divX player)
- Wacom graphire 2 (the small one)


I would like to try a very wide angle lens like a 10-20mm... but it wouldn't be good for my bank account, so I'll try to avoid it as long as I can :D
... and my wife wouldn't like it at all, I just received my 135-400, and I should spend some more time with it to get something valuable.

Bon alors, heu...

J'ai pas encore déménagé, mon fournisseur d'accès a pas encore pris ma demande de déménagement en compte, j'ai donc toujours internet chez moi, et je vis au milieu de mes cartons.

J'enrage un peu, les délais s'ajoutent les uns aux autres, et j'ai l'impression de ne pouvoir rien faire.
Néanmoins, je déménage bien à la fin de cette année. Non mais des fois.


Sur le plan créatif, c'est un peu le merdier, mais j'ai pu sortir quelques photos plutot sympa du dernier mariage auquel j'ai été invité. J'en ai déjà posté deux, et quelques autres arrivent.
A ce sujet (la photo de mariage) :
je n'étais pas le photographe officiel, j'ai donc pu m'amuser un peu, mais j'ai quand même essayé d'en couvrir un max (un peu en tant que photographe presque officiel), pour voir me tester un peu.

J'ai attaqué au 50mm f/1.4, puis, me sentant un peu bloqué (à devori me déplacer continuellement), je suis repassé au 18-125, plus le flash cas échéant... je suis repassé après au 50, puis au 18-125 et......... raaaaah, j'ai pas cessé de papillionner.
Il faut le dire, soit je suis pas assez bon, soit j'ai pas l'objo qu'il me faut, soit la nécessité d'avoir 2 boitiers est une réalité (mais pas pour moi).

Dans les deux cas, je suis parvenu à faire quelques bonnes photos, mais avc des rendus très différents.
Je pense aussi que pour ce genre d'événement, un objo genre 35mm f/2, ou plus court, ferait bien mon affaire.
Je vais continuer à faire avec ce que j'ai, continuer à apprendre.

... en attendant, peut être, un 135-400 qui sera peut être sous le sapin. Peut être. :D

now it's official, next december (very soon, then) , I will move to a new house.

This means I won't have an internet connection at home anymore, starting at the 1st of december. I don't know when my home connection will be operational again, but I'll probably have to wait.
I'll still have my internet access at my work, but no access to my personnal mail boxes.

I'll probably be out of DA for some time, starting around 15th, december, since I'll take some vacations to work in my new house.

That's why I'm whishing you, today, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year 2006 !!

Alors euh, voilà... un peu de discussion polémique (étant donné que je n'ai rien de bien passionant à raconter concernant ma vie à moi)

- sujet récurrent chez les photographes, et très gênant pour les petits zamateurs que nous sommes : le DROIT A L'IMAGE

en gros (et en France, pour préciser), si on n'a pas une autorisation écrite du sujet (ou de ses parents pour un mineur), on ne doit pas utiliser une photo de ladite personne, sous peine de s'exposer à d'éventuelles poursuites de sa part. (il faut que la personne soit reconnaissable)

Pareil d'ailleurs pour des maisons, et si on ajoute l'espèce de droit d'auteur sur n'importe quelle bouse architecturale... on se retrouve carrément coincé à
* soit faire signer 12 000 formulaires par photo
* soit se faire envoyer chier, et la photo, on peut la balancer aux chiottes
* soit dire un truc pas gentil à tout ça, et à publier la photo.

Pour l'histoire, j'avais fait une super mega chouette photo (portrait rapproché) d'une petite fille qui n'est pas la mienne, mais qui est de ma famille. et quand j'ai demandé à ses parents (qui sont de mes proches) l'autorisation, la réponse a été : "beuah, non, on préfère pas, avec internet, gnagna, il pourrait arriver n'importe quoi n'importe comment blabla"....

Et pourtant, je le jure, la photo n'a rien de tendancieux, et les parents en question se sont d'ailleurs empressés d'en faire un agrandissement pour chez eux (parce qu'elle est belle, dixit la môman qui m'a refusé le droit de me faire mousser un peu).

Maintenant, regardez, dans ma gallerie, vous trouverez TRES PEU de photos qui vont à l'encontre du droit à l'image pour les personnes (pour les batiments et le reste, je me contenterai d'un gros FUCK), et que autant je suis pas timide dans la vie, autant dans la rue avec mon appareil, je suis maintenant complètement inhibé.


Des réactions ? My previous week back ache seems to leave me alone, fortunately.
The forced 2 days vacation has been a good period to let me experiment music with Reason 3.0 a bit deeper than usual. Good.
If anyone of you is a Reason user, I would like to exchange some tips and tricks, might be fun.

I also have made some photos at home that will require a lot of post processing to become deviations, or IDs, provided I have the time.

Ouf, c'est fini, mon dos semble me foutre un peu la paix. J'avais déjà eu quelques lumbagos, mais là ça a été vraiment violent.
J'en ai profité pour m'amuser et expérimenter un peu avec le logiciel de musique Reason 3.0. Un vrai bonheur.
Si d'autres utilisateurs de Reason passent par là, qu'ils me fassent signe, ça serait cool d'échanger des trucs en toute simplicité.

J'ai aussi fait quelques petits clichés préparatoires, à la maison, et si j'ai le temps de bosser dessus, ils pourraient devenir de futures deviations, voire de futurs IDs.

Résumé et suite du journal précédent :
Après plus d'un an et demi à être assez actif sur DeviantArt, je me suis retrouvé dans un creux. A la fois sur la créativité, l'envie, le temps libre, et aussi par lassitude et déception du fonctionnement du site, des Deviants, et des communautés artistiques en général.

J'ai donc un peu pris mon temps. Pour rappel, il y a eu une période où je tournais à une nouvelle deviation publiée par jour !! C'est vrai, DA a la possibilité d'être addictif.
Sur le plan personnel, trop de choses à faire, un travail prenant, un mariage à préparer, l'envie aussi de faire un peu plus de musique, de se ressourcer intellectuellement, ont contribué à mon éloignement, avec l'envie de faire des choses nouvelles.

Mon appareil photo principal en a profité pour tomber définitivement en panne, me voilà donc temporairement équipé uniquement d'un petit 3 megapixels compact, et encore, ma femme vient de le prendre avec elle pour la semaine.

Néanmoins, j'ai encore pas mal de choses à travailler pour les poster ici, mais ça ne devrait pas tarder, la récolte des photos n'a pas été trop mauvaise, pendant ces vacances.

Maintenant, je cherche un successeur à mon Minolta... mais je ne me dépêche pas, car je crois que des nouveautés arrivent, cet automne ! (je suis d'ailleurs à l'écoute de tout avis, indication sur ce qui arrive ou ce qui existe déjà, dans le domaine des reflexs numériques)

After a little more than 1 year and a half creating deviation after deviation, I got a bit bored, lacking free time, will to create, and finding the community not meeting my expectations.
As I was really busy preparing my own wedding, and as I was really willing to play more music, and to create new musics of my own, I decided to leave DA and give myself a creative break.

In the meanwhile, my main digital camera went definitively dead. I only have a small compact 3 MPx Nikon camera.
Even thought, I have plenty pictures to work with, but they need some more work before I submit them here.

Salut les amis francophones !
A compter de ce jour, mon journal sera traduit et éventuellement adapté selon la langue. Certaines choses n'intéressent que mes amis et autres DevWatchers (pas d'équivalent français, désolé) francophones.

Je suis donc très récemment rentré de vacances un peu particulières cette année. Je vais donc vous raconter tout ça dans l'ordre. C'est pas tout les jours que je raconte ma vie, mais là, je me lache un peu.

J'avais donc un peu laissé Deviant Art de coté. D'abord parce que je manquais franchement de temps libre, et parce que je n'avais plus grand chose de neuf à présenter. Il faut aussi dire que le coté du site peuplé de "jeunots fans de gothique ou d'anime, voire des deux" et de "photographes pseudo intégristes qui font que des photos de gens en noir et blanc et qui font des photos d'objets sur fond blanc" commençait à m'user...
Bref, la fatigue n'aide pas, le manque de temps non plus, et plutot que de m'aigrir betement, j'ai préféré prendre un peu le large.
Le temps de me reposer, de refaire un peu plus sérieusement de la musique, et aussi de me laisser le temps de préparer de nouvelles idées à présenter.


Pourquoi si peu de temps libre ?
Tout simplement parce qu'en plus de mon boulot, je préparais mon mariage !
Eh oui, je doute que des cohortes de filles enamourées s'effondrent en pleurs à cette nouvelle, mais je me suis marié le 23 juillet prochain. Une belle journée qui compte dans une vie, s'il en est ! Tout s'est bien passé, et histoire de commencer notre vie commune (officielle, parce que bon, hein... on avait pas trop attendu) calmement, nous avons enchainé sur des petites vacances bien calmes et réparatrices.

Incidemment, le 24 juillet au soir, le lendemain même des noces, mon appareil photo numérique, principal outil de mes création DeviantArtistiques, m'a fait un coup de calgon en pleine séance photo sur le site même de ma Deviation "The Tower"... et il en est mort. (en gros, il s'est bloqué, et n'a plus jamais redémarré, gloups)
Soit le site est maudit, soit l'appareil est mort de jalousie envers ma femme, soit notre cher matériel numérique n'est pas prévu pour durer tellement plus que 3 ans et demi, ce qui m'inquiète dans la perspective d'un futur remplacement.
Repose en paix, Minolta Dimage 7.

J'ai donc poursuivi mes vacances avec le petit Nikon 3700 qui me servait de secours, d'appareil passe partout (plus facile à mettre dans une poche). Cet appareil fait du bon boulot, mais il laisse beaucoup moins de latitude au niveau des réglages, voire presqu'aucune latitude, a 2 megapixels de moins (c'est un 3 MPx), et un pauvre zoom équivalent 35-105 (comparé au 28-200 du Minolta, c'est court)


Avec tout ça, je dois le confesser, j'ai aussi un peu délaissé DevArt pour aller trainer sur AudioFanzine, site francophone pour les musiciens, histoire d'appuyer mon retour vers la musique. J'ai donc un peu trainé sur les forums, pour glaner au départ quelques idées, astuces et précisions sur le matériel et la technique, puis pour échanger des vues sur la pratique de la musique.
Ce qui m'a permis de me rappeler que le problème avec nombre de musiciens, c'est leur foutu ego, et des comportements archi elitistes pour les uns et anti elitistes pour les autres... bref, pas que du bon, et pas mal oublient le coté artistique dans l'affaire (ou à l'inverse, se permettent n'importe quoi sous prétexte d'Aaaart). Berk.


Me voilà donc, presque tout frais et prêt à repartir. Je ne pense pas mettre tout de suite de Deviation importante (si ce n'est quelques petites photos sympa prises sur mes lieux de vacances).
Je vais équilibrer un peu plus mes activités, en leur attribuant l'importance qui correspond à mon niveau dans chacune, les principales étant la musique (création et jeu), le karate (ceinture bleue maintenant, ça progresse !), et les activités liées à l'image (photo / caligraphie / infographie et autres)

:pointr: since I started my Deviant Art account -being a former addicted visitor- I achieved a certain level of proficiency.

These last weeks, I scanned many times my gallery, and I took down many deviations.
Today, there are approximatively as much deviations in my gallery as in my deviation storage, which is a great feature, by the way.

I did not reach success. I'm not talking about a "Daily Deviation" or other "feature", but just (except for a few people who'll recognize themselves easily).
I know it's something typical here in DevArt, and I'm not complaining about that.
I'm not even complaining at all.

I'm just at a point where I'm really tired to get so much of my creations viewed 3 to 4 times (full size) at most, especially for my newests ones.

A decision needs to be taken. As for now, I don't know exactly what, there are some different options :
- going away for some time and wait till I feel like doing "Deviations" again,
- start a new gallery with a new and well defined artistic direction, and see what happens,
- turn my back to DA and create my own website.

As some of my fellow devWatchers may already know, I'm gonna get married next july. This is taking a lot of my time and energy, and worse of all, I have so much things to do I can't take some free time for my own amusement without feeling guilt stinging behind my neck ;).

I'm happy, really happy, of course, but I'll be happier when we (myself and my future wife) can have some time doing ab-so-lu-te-ly nothing (eating a pizza in front of a tv isn't considered as an activity by my own standards).

I tried calligraphy, real calligraphy, with ink, pen, and I'm now having text illumination in mind.

I bought myself a new musical instrument... a celtic noise engine called "bombard" !! I'm having lot of fun, even thought I'm not getting much results ( this thing requires lots of air ! )

and I tried many different things, photographicaly speaking. I'm now always shooting at "M" mode, and getting better results than ever.

As you can see, it's mainly boats, beaches, and some "old stones".
Most of these shots are un-retouched, especially regarding the tones, except for the gargoyle which wasn't in black and white, initially. Some very slight modifications have been made to make some road signs disappear, and to re-work some depth of field (with the Photoshop "lens blur" filter)

I have to work for my wedding's preparation. There are many things to finalize, and it's not going really fast.

As for my job, I'm trying to get consideration as a beginning project manager, which means juggling many tasks, working overtime, going in many places. While being really entertaining and motivating, I must say it's eating a lot of time that once would have been called free. Hey, when I get the consideration (and the pay that goes with it), perhaps will I be able to relax ? Mmmmh, I'm having some doubts.

As for creation, especially graphism, I don't know if wether I'll have enough free time or not. I'm still doing some photography, I have some in store, and I have some ideas waiting. With sunnier days (longer days and a better weather) coming, I should

be taking more shots, so you should always expect some new works from my behalf...

For now, free time -I mean really free time- is devoted to music. Guitar playing, bass playing, keyboard playing, various programming and sound explorations are enough to keep anyone occupied for a long time !

Well, me, of course !
After some time being too much occupied or tired by my work, I hope I can now start again with some new deviations, comments... dA's Life !!!

I spent the week working for a client that was both far from my house (I spent countless hours in public transportation), and requiring time and tremendous effort each day to keep him satisfied.
Now the job's done, thank you, bye bye.

Everything's not always easy.
I know I must get better at many things, and it's going to require a lot of efforts. And I don't want that, yet I'll do what's necessary. I'm talking about my career, of course. This has become some kind of obsession, and I know I'm going into times without much fun.
This is the path I've choosen, and when I get where I want, I will have fun again.
It sounds fuzzy ? Yes it is.

I've tried myself at some pen and ink techniques. It's not exactly astounding, but it's somehow encouraging. No, I won't scan it to show it here, but at some time, I may do nice things.
The more the time passes, the more I feel I'll have to spare some money to buy myself a new digital camera. Which gonna be a DSLR this time, unless the bridge cameras get much better visors, with a crystal clear vision of what I would be shooting at. But until then, I will go on with my Minolta D7 and get the best possible out of it, there is still many things to do with that camera.

My 2005 wishes and orientations.

2004 wasn't, in many ways, a good year. I didn't get any raise, I didn't change my job (which could have allowed me to be better paid), I didn't evolve so much, and my client took the decision of getting rid of contractors, myself being among them... Along with many bad things in the world, 2004 wasn't a good nice year.

My expectations for 2005 are far higher, yet I'm not confident about the outcome for this new year. I would like to say "wait and see", but I can't.
This year, I'm gonna marry my girlfriend, next july, and as I want to get what's best in life along with her, this may mean changing my job, or evolving strongly on a personnal dimension.
That's why I've decided to learn and practice drawing (with my hands, not my mouse), among other things, to start a new personnal webpage (which could feature my best deviations, by the way), and to collaborate with some deviants.

I wish I can say, when the year is over : this was a great year.

A lot of new pics are waiting to be prepared and put in my gallery. It's good to have new material to work on... there's no such things as vacations !
My new musical toy is an Alesis Air FX.
It's a nice little toy that fits well with my synths, I'm getting really huge sounds with expression control on top ! I'm getting really enthousiastic with my home studio now, and it's about time for me to finish some songs to release.

It turns out some people like to be surprised, and the approximative same amount of people like my nature and landscape photographying.
Other mentioned categories were : architectural photography, pets and abstract.

Nobody asked for more "Dead Realm", stock photography, or digital designs...


Soooooo...
"Dead Realm" shall be excluded of my future works for some time, as it's neither something new, nor something asked for.
I have some good ideas of "nature and landscapes" as well of "architecture", and I've already tried many photo sessions with my pets (it's really more difficult than one could think, lol !). I know perfectly nice shooting locations, but I will have to wait for the next summer vacations !!!
Now it's time to get something out of all this.

I will stop with submitting new artworks in Deviant Art for awhile.

I'm feeling kind of intoxicated, and I need to take my breath.

Future deviations
I may try some pixel art, because this is where I started, 15 years ago, on my ATARI ST ! (for those who've lived that period : remember those wonderful softwares called Spectrum 512, Degas Elite ?...)
I want to try and submit some video effects, some animations, and many more things, because I live to try all these things, and if I become successful, I will try to make them work together.

Thoughts
In my north half of the planet, winter is coming.

Some may notice my avatar has changed ! I animated my small rabbit nose !

#another new idea#

I won't post anything for some time now...

Not until I've reached 1111 pageviews ! I want to do that because I haven't anything ready to submit now, and the deviations I'm currently working at are more complicated than before.
I will go on with my exploration of the world named "Dead Realm". I will also try to finish some musical pieces I've started, but never ended. I will comment, comment, comment.


Why waiting ?
because I want to have some deviations ready, and to have the time to let them evolve in my way of seeing them before I post them here. And because I don't have much energy, this time around...

Thoughts
It seems I've found an interesting thing to explore (before I get bored ? ) : Dead Realm is my own graphic concept , and I'm pleased with it and the reactions I obtained from you all. It took me some time to find this personnal way, and the concept is evolving, but I am at a good starting point, now.

I hope I have reached a better quality as time passes by, I hope I will be able to take it further, I hope I may at last create something else than just digital photography.

I hope I won't have to create any Deviation featuring anime furry gothic lesbians riding a dragon, with some kind of fractal/whatever plugin render in the background to achieve this... (sigh)

As for my gallery, 4 important things :
1. I've just submitted some Stock photography. These are the ruins of a castle, feel free to use it for your creativity, then send me a link of your art ! I will try to post some more in the future.

2. I found new inspiration, and I've submitted a lot of new photos, with new treatments, and I expect to feel a bit prouder than before.

3. I am working on my 30th Deviation, which will showcase visual art, with a video, but also music ! Yes, you read well. For those who know me a bit, or those who visited my gallery an my scraps, I am more a musician than a photograph. This is the perfect occasion to prove it.
But video takes much more time, and I want this Deviation to be the 30th. So the other works are going to my Scraps gallery.

4. I put many new Deviations in my scraps gallery (see 3. to know why). There are new works and treatments, some experimentations... so DON'T MISS MY SCRAPS !

Some comments wouldn't hurt, too...

I got some kind of flu, and today, it seems I'm recovering my strenghts. Which means I may submit some new works soon.

Beside from that, I was announced my new car just arrived, I will go to retrieve it soon. I managed to get offered a brand new synth as my christmas gift (I'll have to wait), and we're going to retrieve it today, and I'll be eating with a friend I made on the net.

Some days are like that, where it seems everything is going to be fine.

Just to say, I'm heavily relying on technology to create, today. Technology can bring a big power (as for music recording, I have today much more horsepower in my home studio than in a 10-years-ago professionnal studio), but it's also a big restraint, when it comes to such periods.

And now, I'm more battling to get all my stuff almost working, and spending less time focusing on creativity. :tears:

This was just to come to this conclusion : I may invest and use some more natural tools, as I'm doing with my guitars : I'm playing more and more accoustic --> I may try to do some freehand ink drawings, as I did more than 5 years ago.

For some few that stumbled upon my Journal, reading this, did you already try to work with 'natural methods' on some printings of yours ? How did you proceed, how did you obtain better results... ? :confused:
