-Tomorrow I go into the dentist and have some severe dental work start. For those who know me you'll understand at least roughly what I'm talking about, for those who don't it's not overly important.

-In 2 weeks I am going to be cleaning up my DA and FA galleries. In this case it means that I'll be pulling them down and re-uploading the images I deem worthy; in this case it also means that my scraps gallery is gonna be highly 'filtered' and probably about half my current gallery cleaned up. So save what you can before I take it down.

I'm still organising things for my OL store, Though I will point out I am abusing a couple POD services (Print on demand) to achieve this.
Now we all know I'll be doing comics, art CD's, portfolios, calenders etc. But one are I'm still fiddling with right now is clothing.
Yes that's right, clothing. I have a POD (that's -not- caféress) I can go through. Only problem is; if I am gonna have clothing done...what do I get printed and onto what??
So far I have my wing insignia (completely white and filled in with white) onto a black hoodie; and a black t-shirt.
There is the idea for a bag; though that in itself will be simple; though I'm tossing up including my URL on it.
I also have 1 image I wanna put on a t-shirt which should be fine.
Apart from that I wanna hear what you guys (and girls; though supposedly there's no girls on the internet) have to say in regards to this issue.

I have some good news, and some bad news. I've found a publisher for 'Tenebrific Trials' which is great... The bad is that firstly it's a US printer (Yay for those in the US...Bad for everyone else) because of the company itself I'm looking at either near $7 per issue just to publish, hence choosing to go straight to TPB format (so basically the whole 4 issue story in one book) ...Which in itself is good news to those that are interested in it. Which though it raises production costs; it makes the final product a lower cost then it would to publish them as individual issues.

I've also been writing up 2 other stories to 'convert' to comic format. One is a civil war between anthro's and humans set on a distant planet. the other is a short (but extend-able) series following a spy. Both are planned to have 6 issues (in which I will be going through a different printer seen as they will be no more then M rated. (and cost me about 1/3rd of the cost) So you may see some teasers and production images pop up here and there for either project; so if you like what you see, you'll at least know where to find more of it when it's ready.

The reason I haven't been uploading art recently too is due to the fact that I've been doing work experience lately; which has taken up allot more time then I would have liked or hoped; but it has to be done. In any case; I will be getting back to art ASAP... So once again sorry for the delays.

1. You may have all heard it before, the 3 P's. Though I would hardly say it's "Practice, Practice, Practice." I would say it's more like "Patience, Persistence & Practice." You won't get good instantly but being patient and persistent with your work you will get better with practice; & the more you get, the better for you.

2. You'll also want to ask for some critique. After all the worst someone can do is say "no". Even though I say that people also need to remember that if you ask for crit, don't take offense if your image is torn asunder by someones crit/advise. Your better off listening to what they say; given they might also have some very good advice that may just help you.

3. Stay open minded (or 'be' if the case) different methods suit different people/ Not to mention that being stuck in your ways won't help you further develop your skills. Again this comes back to the comment/advice about critique. Try new things and dont be afraid to make mistakes. If you do, try and learn from them.

4. Seek further education. This may not seem practical to some, but this is worthwhile. You can learn several things like colour theory, Methods of application & Perspective (among many other things). Even the basics are essential to any artist and getting an education is the best place to learn about this sort of stuff.

Now I've been part of the furry subculture for near on 7 years and I've been drawing for the whole time. Now I'm no genius or gifted child, but I will point this out. I am self-taught and didn't do any art in high-school and my current art is result of most of what I have said here. As for study I have recently applied to do study in Illustration and the reason I have done this is because I want to get better still, And it's my persistence that has driven me to make that choice.

Though if you are curious as that I do when I draw refer to my previous journal (Titled: I seek some artistic guidance) As for what I've been upto, I've been a little under the weather with the flu. Aside from that I've become a uncle for the second time.

Though I know before I can seek out help I might wanna lay out some of the details of how I work. So here's how it is...

I sketch with red col-erase (the only colour I have), then ink directly over the sketch, usually with a mix of .05, .1 & .2's. Though I have as far as a .8 a couple microns (.05 & .1's) and a couple brush pens. I then scan it into PS...change it to CMYK to remove all but the black channel. Leaving me with nice clean B&W Lineart, I then change it back to RGB. Duplicating the lineart I then lock it and move it to the top layer; creating a couple new layers underneath, which is what I colour and shade on.

Colouring for me usually involves several layers; one for each flat colour that's used before they are all compressed down into one flat layer. Thus far I think I'm not doing anything wrong. Where I believe I fall over is with my shading...Now I state for the record I -never- use dodge or burn to shade, 'nd I refuse to ever do so. I really don't find it's glossyness that appealing. What I usually do is decide where my light-source is and what colour it is ment to be. Then pick an opposing colour IE Yellow/Blue. I then place all the blue I need down onto a new layer; change it's mode to 'burn' then use the smudge tool to add the detail of folds etc. afterwards I adjust the layers opacity to what I feel is suitable, and much the same with highlight's.

Photoshop is the only image editing program I am remotely familiar with; Though I have barely scratched the surface given I only use a normal brush and the smudge tool to do all I just mentioned. Though that doesn't mean that's all I am limited to. I have ArtRage; Painter IX, Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2 & open Canvas 1.1 & 3.

In any case if there is anything anyone can suggest something to help me with my artwork on the whole it would be apprciated; Though I personally want to focus on my colouring skills. Also as a random (but possibly useful note) I use a wacom Graphire 3 to do my digial stuffs.

As of 1pm tomorrow (Adelaide time; 24 hours) both my websites will be taken down.
This is only temporary and will hopefully be rectified within the week. Why?? I'm taking them down to clean them up; remodel and to prepare for a few things to be added. So if there is anything you want to save; then best do so now.
The remifications of this is that my art-blog will lose it's artwork for a while. Though my DA; FA and VCL accounts will remain active if you still wish to seek out my artwork.
What has also prompted this is that I finally found a publisher and distributors for my comics once I draw them up....so that should give you an idea of what's going on to some extent.

For the most part I am still looking for work. (Which is a bummer if you ask me; though I did have a job for 2 days; but that went nowhere due to it being purely commission basis, which as many know; door to door crap just doesn’t sell and getting commission from selling charity gets you nothing at all.) (Which is a bitch ‘cause according to Centrelink/welfare if I make more then 23$AU off of anything I am meant to tell them and it will affect my payments.) Yes I draw adult art; as mentioned, though there has been one minor change lately. Moreso out of respect for my significant other; There will be no adult art of Jaffa drawn unless it's agreed on by her and I; so asking for adult art of your character with Jaffa or her; is best not advised. So if you want art of one of my characters yiffing yours; that is fine; as long as it's not Jaffa. (and even then it's still a tentative answer)

RE: Paysites.
It's been talked about for some time now, the talk of me and my household starting our own. I have asked around about this; and honestly only 2 people have been against the idea. Their reasons; they rather not have to pay for furry porn. But for the most part everyone else has said yes. Though I know this will also disgruntle a few people; Given ATM I do guest work for Hotfurs. Which I am still pondering what to do with that; be it still do it from time to time or be it me selling them material just for the site or just generally not worrying about it once I complete my part of the original deal.
Then there is still the matter of content...I am somewhat curious as to what people would like to see so feel free to comment in that regard too.

RE: Paysites.

It's been talked about for some time now, the talk of me and my household starting our own. I have asked around about this; and honestly only 2 people have been against the idea. Their reasons; they rather not have to pay for furry porn. But for the most part everyone else has said yes. Though I know this will also disgruntle a few people; Given ATM I do guest work for Hotfurs. Which I am still pondering what to do with that; be it still do it from time to time or be it me selling them material just for the site or just generally not worrying about it once I complete my part of the original deal.
Then there is still the matter of content...I am somewhat curious as to what people would like to see so feel free to comment in that regard too.

RE: Where's the new art and where did some of your art go??

I've been rather high strung lately with family drama so not been able to concerntrate on art. Hence the lack of new stuff. Though I am trying to dig myself out of this funk.
Though of the lastest peices I put up; I took down the one of LynFox by request due too to much unwanted attention. So for the most part; all I ask is that most realise; yes the image is teasing; this was the basis for our trade. She herself is monogomus and has a partner and won't even RP. Please respect her and her partner and do not bother contacting her if all you want is RP/Yiff.

(though this may be considered selfish) But if she does go she'll have no support net over there, and thats not a good thing for her, Lilly or her other half. Not now that she and mum's other half have both been diagnosed with cancer. Though I may not a lways get along with family; they are still family; so as there is little I can do; it still worries me given all the 'drama' that goes on. So to anyone I have hurt in the last year. I can only say I'm sorry and ask that you forgive me for it. I know I have done some hurtful things. Some of which have only been brought to my attention recently. So in particular there are 2 people I want to say thankyou and sorry for.

The first for showing me love even though I treated you like shit and being so tollerable of my behaviour with everything. I may never be able to tell you to your face but I wish you the best.
The second for letting me feel love agian for the first time in over 10 years. I know nothing may eventuate ever but it's the way things go I guess. As much as I am hurt and upset by this I should be happy your doing something you want to to make yourself happy.

With that said it should at least be able to start picking my life back up again. I know the next while is going to be painful, But I do have friends there that are there to pick me up; even if I don't want to accept it. 'nd even though I don't want to pick up my pencil right now I am not going to give up on the one thing I can do with passion. So art will be dry again for a little while. But thats the way the coin has fallen. For now I am going to try and work on a couple peices or sleep. Not sure yet really. Well see...anyhow over and out...

Actually; first I should put back up the art I took down in a 'fit of rage'. As I realise. I drew them out of love; Respecting that love I should keep them there. For it is better that I remember that I felt love again; not the fact I don't have it.

*edit* There are other things that need to be fixed. I need to at least try and fix a few of the friendships that have been destroyed in the last while. Even while my mind is elsewhere, there are a few things I intend to do, I don't think what I will do next is considered wise. But hell; I can't let this shit hold me down for too long. Otherwise I'm not living up to what -I- expect of -myself-. A few of my current friends have said a couple things; which have got me thinking. (This is also essentially why there have been so many early morning posts) So right now I may also end up 'back-peddling' with some of it; but IMO it needs to be done.

....Oddly enough; for some reason this is the happiest I have been in a while Go figure...

Things have gotten even worse over the last week. Which as much as I have not wanted to, I may have to cancel the holiday I was to be going on just after easter. The main reason being that my mother is currently in the emergencey ward in her local hospital. 'nd has been since Sunday evening. The really don't know whats killing her, but they have ruled out that its epilepsy causing the seizures. Either or, they are doubting she can hold out much longer as is, maybe not even another month, I've already lost 4 friends in the last year, and one other person I never met (The guy was meant to be my real father and passed away at the end of Nov) So its I seem angsty, I have my reasons, If I seem depressed this is why. 'nd right now I rather not be having to deal with all if at all (which I consider normal) But I am and trying my hardest to live by my own words, and to keep that promise.
I really want an out but this is what I follow. (oh~ and the next person to fucking call me emo will get a barge poll shoved up their asses, got it...I'm not emo, and I am more then justified in being depressed. Any of you try and deal with what I have and still try to stay sane, then try calling me 'emo')

OK so its late tonight. I aint fussed really; its currently 2:15am as I write this up.
I'm actually trying to decide which of my anthro characters I should submit to Void Fighters

Basically its a toss up between 3 characters and I have to do the same amount of work no matter who is chosen. So the fact that the latter 2 are still in concept means nothing.
So ATM the three options are:

Jaffa - This is the character that is me; my avatar; The concept I am looking at takes place at the end of "Crucicifed" So basically Jaffa has returned to the real world to resume looking for his sister 'Ann-Lee'. Coming to the surface near Void City he starts searching there. Still unsure of why he's there.
Species: Giant Panda
Weapons: Swords x2 [Cazgar & Anzor] Daggersx2 and Scythe
Fighting Style: None in particular


De Ododa - An assassin, after being left for dead after his own boss tries to kill him he makes his way out to settle the score; as bloody-ly possible he eventually takes out his old 'workmates' he eventaully does so and fades out and tries to start anew. Heading East into the ocean he is caught in some disasturious weather adn awakes about a week later in Void City hospital.
Species: Stoat
Weapons: 1 pistol, 1 rifle and whatever else he can get his paws on
Fighting Style: Kick Boxing


L'Jorn - A Jamacian once sold as a slave to one of the easter worlds he eventually became free. Having learnt to dance and fight during his days as a slave he travels about trying to learn about the place he now called home. With the world being relatively new to him he has already learnt a couple things...the main one 'There is no drug like adrenaline' and the best way for him to feel this is to push his body and for him that is for him to fight; so has spent the last three years traveling looking for decent combatants. Eventually he comes across Void City...A city running rancid under the vail of comabt...a place where the streets are just lined with combatants that might be worthy to fight.

Weapons: None/Fists and Feet
Fighting Style: Capoeria [think Eddy from Tekken]

Anyone thats willing to share their thoughts please do so. This is somethign I haven't been able to make my mind up on for some time and still want to do. Even more now that I am trying to get somewhere with De Ododa [the comic] and Guilt Trip. So this will help as practice for one another.

Well its almost D-Day...D-Day being Saturday...well Friday in some cases.
Saturday morning one housemate leaves; The new housemate arrives Wednesday.
Though due to the way tings have been handled up till now. We loose net Friday Midday...as in tomorrow. [given I only found out today when the net is actually getting turned off; so I have to get it swiched back on and that can take a week] Which means myself & MistyStriker will be without net till further notice. [Basically till net is connected and we can buy the modem/router we want]
Though I am looking forward to Friday for other reasons; but its all good. Even without net I am still reachable by those I wish to be reached by [and some I rather not be] But all in all things really arent that bad given all the upheaveal.
Will be trying to work on art over the weekend once my time expires till a later date; I have been working on art till now; just not making much headway due to insanity of life and other things.
The next fortnight for me is gonna be good for me as is.
Wanted company and a social life with people I both adore and admire plus that one step closer to being debt free. Such are pay-days and the time following them.
I may have to bail on my plans for December Mainly due to getting debt-free being a prority; though I would rather take some particular company with me given they are the prefered company anyhow.
So my trip to Melbourne in December [For a furmeet as such moreso] may be canceled; though that means I will also not get to see alot of friends...4 in particular that I wish I could be with in most cases anyhow.
Though to them I do miss them but we each make our choices in life and we do what we feel is for the best; so there is no wrong choice. If I don't see you there you will at least understand that I have my reasons. Even though I would rather be there.
Either way this panda has said enough for now.

Had a good day saturday at the dev-meet yep! *nodnods* Spent most of it cuddled to Nell; so course no complaints here. Tania/Animator, Vix/Blitterbug, Bingo/BingoDingo [these guys I spend time with at least once a week] Showed; along with Nell [well duh already mentioned her name once] so did Mezza/Homicidal-Mistress, Lana/Kitty-me and Matthew/Muskau...I forgot the names of the rest; Mezza's boy and her friend Lilly also showed up for the crazyness. I do appologise to the rest I forgot the name of; I recognised the rest cause I already had chronicals involving them some way outside of DA Meets.
Did plan on going back to Tania and Robbie's [and a Vixies] after for some random drinkage but had to bail; 8am start today rather then 12 It makes panda sad that he has to do such things on a Sunday. I rather be at home drawing furry pron or my kitty but its life; should have a new machine up and running within the next two weeks which will most likely end up as a fileserver/home stereo. Just need to get the 5.1 setup and sound card and wireless network for it. But yes all the fun and goodness of yesterday outwighed the fact that things kept breaking on me :S Karma I guess.

Either or things are good and seem to be looking up; or so says the happy panda

Anyhow today for me has been both odd and upsetting. Though odd in a good way. Lets see, The router is back up so I have 24/7 net again [yay!!] Mikey finally got his CD-ROM drive back [cause it was in the router while it was being repaired/looked at.] I got a shiteload of comliments from friends etc. today. Which makes me think a lil. Either something wicked this way comes or god knows what. Either way it put me on a little bit of a high. Funnyest thing [but very damned catchy] is a guy, [dunno him by name etc. but know him via a housemate (Misty)] but he came up with a song [alibet one that has been stuck in my head for the last couple hours now.] My only real annoyance is that there are few artists I really look upto. Out of a list of 3 that I have contact with 2 have fallen off of the face of the earth and the third is looking at doing the same. This is getting me down some because why? Because I want to be like them. I want to be great I want to be worshipped. What I don't want is to be used and abused and treated like a tool that you can throw away and not expect anything to happen. We are artists, but we also live and breath just like the rest of you. Please consider this when dealing with us. To see so many good artist dissapear because of other peoples digressions is bad enough.

Right now my mind is racing with only a few thoughts. That last little bit being one of the few trains of thought atm. One other is also what to do for Meghan if I can't be there for her birthday though its still a fair way off and a long shot in the first place. I love the girl and want to show her that. My third is the two commissions I need to work on. Yay for crazyness. I think for this I will need 'Who framed Rodger Rabbit' and 'Frankestiens monster'. Ok I've slept....over slept...damned rain. Oh well. Sleep is good. Anyhow. 49 aka 'The Den' Is finally comming together okayishly. We have net, phone elec and gas sorted...[yay] I think we need more chairs for the table but we seem to have everything in order [enough of it at least] Only real issue is sorting the router, so we stop this whole 'one person at a time' stuff. I know I'm not the only one annoyed by it. But we still have net..Yay!. Only thing I have to bitch about other then the 'one at a time' crap is that I feel I don't get enough feedback from people about my pics :S oh well. Life is good, I am full I have some cash in my pocket, music is playing and I have my 'Sune.

On a side note I am looking at working on a new story/comic so might not be uploading much new art because of this. [though you know its not like I upload much atm anyhow.]

Easy. The person who's name the internet was under moved out over the weekend. So he's taken it with him to the new place. Thus we loose our internet today untill it is re-conneced. All I am waiting on is a phone call. Basically to arrange a time for it to be connected. 4-7 days at most it seems. Anyhow so for then I am going to be offline. http://JD-Ferel.deviantart.com/journal/3563424/ Mon, 11 Oct 2004 08:30:47 PDT Meghan today [for those that haven't been paying attention she's my lovely and gentle sweetheart] Which put me in a good mood, and given she was happy and all bouncy I couldn't help but laugh. But then again she's been alot of good for me lately. Making me smile, laugh and just generally in a good way. Then the mail came, which put me in an even better mood, cause in there was a package. Not the books I had oredered though but another magazine I had been waiting on. my copy of SFL finally arrived!! Why had I been waiting on it?? Because I did some art in there and given credit for it. Which I am happy over mainly because it means people get to see my art a little more and I might actually get more reccognition and business out of it. . So today has been labeled "Great!!" And right now I doubt that there is anything that can bring me down.

I would also like to point out that because of recent developments I am re-appoint who is getting drawn for the 2000+ pageviews. Because of how things went [I got a notice of 2003 via MSN and 2005 via DA.] I am going to do both. I would like to congadulate Ravs and Wylde
