Anyways, life has been pretty nice. Still pretty tired/exhausted from working but things are looking up. IT'S SO NICE TO FINALLY HAVE MONEY - GOD, I'VE BEEN BROKE FOR SO LONG!!! Over the past 2 weeks, I've started jumping back into doing 3D Modeling. Yes, that's right!!! 3D MODELING!!!

Also recently started practicing painting withOUT the heavy dependency on contour lines. I have a WIP of a drawing of Sarah from Tabula Rasa (that was unfortunately, shut down a few months ago).

I'll post a few up later.

Let's see...what else? I'm starting to work on a script for a story (sort of like a pet project - we'll see how that goes, though)...so far, it's more for fun than any full-blown project. Details will be posted when/if I get enough substance to it.

Anyways, from the looks of things...I think I'm going to have some free time coming up...so I might be able to open ONE commission slot...maybe. We'll see, though. Tease, tease! Hahahaha!


Oh yeah, I've started playing on X-Box Live (FINALLY have the free time, nowadays)...big fan of Left 4 Dead, Gears of War, and HALO (although I JUST bought Street Fighter 4, as well)...so, if anyone wants to hang out with me, add me!!!

But yeah...I need suggestions on a name for a website. PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Desperate for some ideas!

I'm trying to think up something that could have double meanings, or a pun, or something...something that sounds SMRT (clearly over my level of intellectual capability...haha). I dunno...I just need a name...but my uhh...writer's block is kicking in like crazy. Hahaha! =p

-Jim Lee: If you don't know who Jim Lee is, then I guess reading this entire journal is rather pointless. LOL! One of the founders of Image Comics, currently works as head of Wildstorm, which is a branch of DC Comics. Most known for Wildcats and drawing the BEASTLIEST Batman in the world.
-Brian Michael Bendis: It's kinda debatable but this is Marvel's top writer. Like, if you follow the Marvel Universe's major plotlines, it seems as if every single major arc is written by Bendis, no joke. He is probably best known for writing JUST ABOUT everything in the Marvel Ultimates universe (with the exception of the Ultimate Avengers) and also "House of M" which was a segment where they wiped out pretty much the entire mutant population. This year was once again, another truly fun experience. I swear, Otakon doesn't disappoint!

Okay, first and foremost, I just wanted to say that...if there was nothing else, the Udon panel on Saturday made the ENTIRE con worth going to. If you missed it, then...you REALLY missed out...alot. Whether you're an artist or a fan, Omar Dogan's speech regarding art and the development of style was one of the most inspirational speeches I've EVER heard on this topic.

Okay, first and foremost, let me start by saying that I'm a huge fan of Udon. I LOVE their styles and truly believe they are some of the best anime-styled artists around right now. So with that said, you can imagine how stoked I was when I looked on the program on Friday and read, "Udon Crew Workshop". I mean, if you're gonna learn how to do anything, you gotta learn from the best!

So I actually went to the workshop about an hour and a half early and just sat there drawing (well, I was actually inking in Tensai's piece - inks are done now, btw).

So 6pm finally rolled around and I sat there as they set up their stuff...after which Omar starts putting up sketches. They look so simple yet if you really look at it closely, they still are FAR from what a "simple" piece for someone with less skill could pull off. Okay, I'm one of those people that is VERY difficult to impress yet just watching his work completely blew me away. However, that wasn't even the tip of the iceberg...midway through his demonstration, he starts giving a speech regarding art and how you should develop yourself while giving both the highlights and pitfalls of the industry. Through it all, it feels weird but I could sense a strong passion in his voice and I could really tell how much he absolutely loves it. I think it's when people are truly passionate about what they talk about that it really comes across to the listener...and boy, it sure did.

I've never had a 2-hour block go by so quickly before...not even while watching Batman: Dark Knight. Haha...sorry, bad reference...but I think he truly captivated that audience.

(It's a shame noone videotaped that panel...I think alot of aspiring artists out there would really benefit from it) :-(

So, everything else...umm...there was a JAM concert on Friday, which was actually not as bad as some people are making it seem. I mean, I grew up watching these series so having the original singers join together and do a concert is quite cool for an old-school fan (I felt kinda bad for the GaoGaiGar singer though...barely anyone sung along with him, GGG was one of those underground series that never made it past Japan's borders). Umm...let's see, what else. Artist alley and art show was actually rather disappointing. I wasn't really all that impressed with the alley this year (almost everyone seemed to draw ONLY waist-up pics - one thing I've noticed when artists draw nothing BUT pics of people from their waists up, it usually means they don't know how to draw anatomically correct legs)...I chatted with a few people, met these 2 Vietnamese guys who were doing comic-book characters prints. Their style was okay but I thought they tried too hard to do an exact mimic of Jim Lee's art style. I mean, I'm one of those people that think that if you're gonna mimic, you gotta put a spin to the style at the same time...like, learn from the artist but don't become them. Chatted with Silvia Shi (she tried to get me to buy her prints...I was like, "Uhhhh.........no."). I know, I know...that was so MEAN of me (but hey, I'm a cheap bum)!!! =(

note: Feverion is STILL pretty damn awesome (she let me hold her hand-carved wooden knife and gave me a lecture on how to carve wooden weapons - FANGASM!!!). I actually DID want to buy one of her prints with the samurai, but with the Udon panel and having to rush to dinner right afterwards, I didn't get a chance to come back and bug her for a print. I did, however, get a new Applegeeks Power-Symbol T-shirt (my old one that I bought 2 years ago has started to fade alot recently - it's my favorite T-shirt I have...that I wear almost everywhere I go...errr, I DO wash it though, I swear!!!)

Hung out and had dinner both days with the CoH bunch and had a heck of a good time. YOU GUYS ARE THE BESTEST! One of these days, I have to plan out a trip to visit Texas (A-Kon/Ikkicon) and Atlanta (AWA)...

Okay, I'm sorta in a love-hate kinda state-of-mind right now...since I've basically "accepted" the fact that I didn't get a table (they sent me an email a few months ago saying that I didn't sign up in time) so...that pretty much means that I made no preparations whatsoever!!! ARRGHHHH!!!

You can only imagine how peeved I am right now...because I'm stuck with 2 difficult predicaments.

First off, I have ZERO prints available (exception of the left-over ones from last year...which I doubt anyone still wants...and it'd be weird selling old prints) and I'm too damn busy to draw more...so if I go, it's practically guaranteed that I'll be losing money...unless I use commissioned pieces as prints - since that seems to be all I draw nowadays (I actually had to turn away alot of people who wanted to buy the Thor's Assassin display print I had on display last year) but that's a major NO-NO with commissioned works. Dammit!

Then again, I had a total blast last year...but I think that's more from the fact that I had THE AWESOMEST people in the world hung out with me that entire weekend (I'm looking at you, GP, Moggie, Pyrria, and Kai)...

So I'm sorta in a difficult situation. It's basically, Okay, if I go, I'm guaranteed to be losing money...yet if I don't, I'll be like, God, I miss the thrill of Otakon. I only have about 10 days to make my decision...or else I'll be regretting it later on. So, suggestions, guys?

Note: one way or another, I WILL be at Otakon...but this is basically whether or not to do Artist Alley again...

Just quit my job...it felt really bad telling my boss that I was quitting [since she is like, THE sweetest (and one of the hottest) person in the whole wide world]...but it had to be done. But yeah, that officially knocks me down to one full time job...which has been pretty nice. Lazy biatch at work is STILL a lazy biatch...but my ability to tune her out is getting better. "LEVEL UP!!!"

Today was the first day I've had to take a break in quite a while. Last week was one of my friends' wedding. It felt weird going to a friend's wedding...like, she's getting married and I'm like...deathly afraid of the mere thought of that level of [romantic] commitment...it wouldn't be such a big deal if she was alot older than me...but we're practically the same age...but yeah, that felt weird, in the sense of "god, I'm at that age already"...

Regardless, I'm really happy for her, though. CONGRATS JULIE!!!

Anyways, today I went hanging out with *WicasaWakan and `GH-MoNGo of *CAPITOL-DEVIANTS and saw "Narnia : Prince Caspian". Initially planned to go see "Ironman" but movie times were a bit off. Anyways, Narnia was actually quite good...which was rather surprising since the first one sucked. Like, the first Narnia movie...man, that was awful. The sequel REALLY redeemed the series though. Anyways, I'd give it a B+, definitely a good movie! Go Disney!



Oh yeah, I'm back to doing art again! YAYERS!!! Check out the new update for Summer-Heat's commission. (I actually brought it along with me today to get some work done on it since I figured, hey it's a buncha artists but we wound up walking around Pearl (art supply store) drooling like a kid in a candy store, instead). For those of you who hasn't met Mongo yet...lemme just say, he's EXACTLY the same in person as he is online...an obsessed paint/brush fanatic. WicasaWakan was more a really laid-back/chill kinda guy...so between the 2 of them, there were definitely alot of fun moments. Anyways, had a great times, guys! Y'all were real fun to hang out with! I'm definitely gonna be hitting up more of these get-togethers!



When I started, even I didn't think it'd turn out this cool (well, *I* think it's cool, at least). Anyways, to explain my rationale. The armor is all standard armor that was handed to me in the screenshot...however, as I was building his wings, I didn't want to use the same set of wings as with Lucius.



...even though they have the same wing designs ingame...I wanted there to be a difference...I wanted there to be something unique in this one...so I came up with this idea to revamp the design quite a bit. Believe it or not but it's actually partially inspired by the movie "Ironman". Yes, before all the Stark fanatics start to bash me about how Ironman doesn't have any wings ( well, *technically* he does in a *very few* of his armors ...but it did. Okay, end of story. Hahaha! No really, though...I LOVE these new sets of wings!

Oh yeah, this pic (along with the Miho/Maris one) will be the first ones done on my new computer...was saving up money from the 2nd job to build the rig...and for all the computer geeks out there, here's my build.

Life has thrown me a major curveball lately. I guess in a way, I sorta anticipated it...but you know how there's those moments in life where you KNOW what's coming...but regardless of how much you KNOW, it never fully prepares you for it. That's how life is right now...

My new job is great, don't get me wrong. I LOVE Kaiser. They do alot of small things which you really learn to appreciate when you work for them...I mean, I get paid pretty well (significantly more than my previous job), I get great benefits, between holidays, vacation, sick leave, etc, I get about 7 weeks off a year, I get lots of overtime, etc. All in all, it's a HUGE jump from my previous job.

So, where does life become Hell, you ask? Simple...I was stupid enough to keep my old job. I mean...seriously, sometimes I wonder WTF I was thinking. Initially, noone really gave me any problems with it. I'd work 1 day a week and that'd be that...only now the GAY company (not Kaiser, but my other job) requires us to work 16 hours a week. So, I'm doing, on average, about 44 hours at my main job...and now my 2nd job requires an additional 16. That's like 60 hours a week...it's insane, it really is. I've never felt I've ever been so busy in my entire life, before.

And, to top it off...I recently moved back in with my folks. I dunno, it's just weird...but I guess living alone finally got to me...it's good in some sense, but it kinda sucks in others...one of which is a REALLY shitty internet connection. For ANYONE who's ever considered DirecPC...well, don't. It's awful. It's comparable to Dial-up...but worse, since if there's ever the slightest bit of inclement weather, it totally shuts down (wind, rain, snow, etc) or if you overuse your bandwidth (watch ONE trailer on Youtube), it'll kill your connection for the next 2-4 days. Yes...it's THAT bad. I'm hooking up with Cable internet this Saturday so I'm looking forward to that.

So...yeah. I'm REALLY, REALLY sorry for anyone whose commission I haven't gotten to. I swear, I'm trying my best...as for an update, I'm currently inking in Kai's piece (the pose is all set and I'm quite happy with how it's coming along). I'm also working on Summer Heat's piece. I'm trying to get the pose but the dynamic pose that was asked of me is turning out to be ALOT trickier than I had initially expected...but we'll see that comes along.

(If this delay keeps up, I'll offer refunds to anyone who changes their mind over the course of the wait...I'll give it about another couple weeks before that's finalized though to see how things hold up).

Yusaku, sorry for the lack of updates the last few days...I'll probably do the revisions you requested tomorrow night (I'm technically scheduled to work 8am-4:30pm) so I should have some free time afterwards...also, Morgenstern, I haven't had a chance to mail it out yet (sorry)...got a few calls to come into work earlier than I had anticipatedfor my 2nd job (one of my coworkers recently quit out of the blue). I requested this weekend off from my 2nd job so I'll DEFINITELY, ABSOLUTELY WILL mail it out by then. I will seriously shoot myself if I don't.

Also, I requested this weekend off because Katsucon starts this Friday (Feb 15) and runs until Sunday (Feb 17). This morning, had to go into work at 8am, 1 pharmacist caught the flu, 1 pharmacist got sent into training, 2 techs got stomach viruses...so, 4 coworkers out of commission...and, as luck would have it, today turned out to be a pretty busy day too...so, you can imagine how crazy it got. I had to stay an extra hour after work just to try to help everyone get caught up (OVERTIME! Wooot!). Immediately after leaving at 5:30pm, I go into my 2nd job and work till 9pm...so, dropped by a fast food joint and grabbed some food, then get home and shower...and I have to say...I'm so pooped. Gotta go into work tomorrow too...arrgghh...oh well, the weekend is approaching...unfortunately, I only get 1 day off a week!!! ARRGGHHH!!!

Anyways, I've started to become more productive. I'm using my hour lunchbreak to ink in the art pieces. The inks for Yusaku's piece is done and dry. The one for Kai is about halfway done...and it looks gorgeous. The hair turned out incredible (I'm slightly biased, however). =p They're currently sitting in my car right now. Anyways, I'll do the colors on Sunday (my day off).

In other news, my car is about to die...like, seriously...I can feel it...or maybe I just think that way from being traumatized when the radiator busted and the car overheated like crazy when I was about 100 miles away from home during my trip to Richmond a few months ago...so I'm looking into buying a new car. My company gives me an employee discount on Toyota/Lexus/Scion, Nissan, Kia, Chevy, Chrysler, Ford, Dodge, Volvo, and Volkswagon where we only have to pay manufacturer's invoice price...so, anyways, being someone who knows NOTHING about cars whatsoever, anyone want to give me some suggestions/pointers/advice/recommendations? If you know car-lingo and can decipher the language of car-buying, please do give me some suggestions! I'm scared shitless about having to buy a new car)

My budget is around 20K but I'd rather pay as little as possible (because I'm a cheap bastard).

In other news, I just bought an Antec P182 case from Newegg (there was a nice sale on it today where the price went down to $60 after MIR) so that marks my first step in building my new comp. I'm waiting for a price slash on the Intel Q6700 processor before I look into building up the internal pieces...but the specs that I'm aiming for...for all the computer people, please give me a consensus on potential parts that I ought to get (if these are inadequate).

Life has been great...even if I have to work SIX days a week. God...having 2 jobs really sucks. I'm starting to regret keeping my old job when I got the new one. Anyways, new job is incredibly awesome! It's like this...I get paid more money to do less work and get less stress. Hahaha...that's gotta be awesome!

Anyways...since I don't really have much free time to write an interesting journal, I figured I'd copy and paste my virtual interview with Darque for the City Scoop (it was never actually posted, probably because I was being a complete retard through the whole thing...most of the artists that gets interviewed always act so serious and professional *cough* boring *cough* so I figured it'd be better to write something entertaining - I think it is, at least...and sadly, it's all true).

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
-Let's see. I'm a geek first, an artist second. I'm a Aquarius, I like long walks on the beach, candlelit dinners are great, too. Uhh, wait, nevermind. I'm just a dork with a really random personality, which people who've met me can testify to (even if those people who met me are just being nice when they say otherwise).

What inspired you to start drawing?
-GI.Joe and Super Mario. My very first thing I drew as a kid were really awful attempts at recreating levels for Super Mario Bros 3. When I was 6 years old, I was introduced to GIJoes and my life hasn't been the same again. Me and my best friend would create our own [link] armies and create heroes within them...although, neither one of us could manage to create anything even remotely as cool as Snake Eyes, though....but that was THE Snake Eyes. N-O-T-H-I-N-G is as cool as Snake Eyes.

Which mediums do you use for your art? Which are your favorite?
-I try to do a little bit of everything. I call myself an "illustrator" just because it sounds cooler but I'm really more of a "varied artist". My main style, however, is my pencil style, which I'd like to think I perfected from 2 years of taking college chemistry courses (you'll never be so bored in your life). As for my favorite art style, I'd have go with digital, just because it's so limitless...not to mention Ctrl+Z is like God's gift to artists. (note: Ctrl+Z is the hotkey for "Undo").

What's your best experience as an artist? Worst?
-My best experience as an artist is the look on someone's face when I show them a major piece. There's always that glow that comes off which I absolutely adore. Worst experience would have to be this one time I was doing this really big (and extremely detailed) piece in one of my classes (not an art class, either), and someone walks by and tips the desk, somehow causing me to draw this HUGE line across the page. In that instant, I instinctively reached for Ctrl+Z only to realize that a keyboard doesn't exist when you're drawing with a pen on paper.

Who has been your biggest influence, artistically speaking?
-The greatest artistic influence would have to be Chris Metzen, from Blizzard Entertainment. I literally WORSHIP him, seriously. He is the sole reason that has driven me to be an artist...my entire pencil-art style originated from attempts at mimicking his style...granted, I wound up learning it and later on, even tweaking it, however I still consider him to be my greatest influence. If I ever met him in real life, I'd be like the worst kind of fanboy imaginable: the annoying kind.

Who are some of your favorite artists and what is it about them that captures your eye?
-My favorite artist for the last 4 or 5 years has been Ito Ogure (aka Oh! Great) who is the mangaka for "Air Gear" and "Tenjou Tenge" (both of which, I read religiously...with the scented candles and everything). Second to that, I'd have to go with Masakazu Katsura who created the manga, "I''s", which to date, is my favorite story ever written. The thing about mangakas is that they're not just artists, they're storytellers. To me, that's what I dream of becoming...not necessarily a mangaka but a storyteller...either that or a video game concept artist (Random Plug: -I'D LOVE TO WORK FOR YOU, NCSoft-).

When you're drawing, do you have music/television/movies on in the background? Anything in particular you prefer for ambiance?
-I always have music on. I check dA (because it really IS the first thing I look at when I get to a computer)...and I read my messages and I notice adonihs has a journal up saying "RIP Heath Ledger"...as I'm thinking, "WTF are you smoking, boy?"...anyways, so I click it...and he starts talking about how Heath Ledger was found dead in his apartment...at this point, I'm still not completely believing it but he has a link to MSNBC so I check that out...and, am truly shocked at the news.

God, this is a truly sad day...

If anyone has talked to me in the past year or so and even remotely mention movies, I would've gone on a 2 hour rave about how much I think Ledger is the greatest Joker to have ever lived (his tone of voice, his accent, his laughter, his lisp...all done to perfection). I mean, his role as the Joker is going to be what defines the Joker in the future...because this IS the greatest portrayal of the Joker ever done...to absolute perfection. To us geeks, Ledger has created an iconic character that's going to be irreplaceable...and after witnessing his incredible ability at merging with this character (which Jack Nicholson failed at, miserably), I was truly looking forward to future roles from this aspiring actor...and, having heard the news, I am deeply saddened.

Rest in peace, Heath Ledger.

I've used their Cintiq 21UX at my professor's studio before and hated it since it was so incredibly heavy...rendering out the point of getting a Cintiq in the first place for me, being able to rotate it back and forth. So my technical inking pen is starting to show its age (it's overused, alot) so it's started to leak *very messy*...I always felt that it was relatively low-quality (damn you Koh-Noor for your cheap-assed-ness)...so in the middle of inking 2 projects, I'm short of a pen (although I do still have a few Microns lying around) but I also recently bought a Copic Multiliner with a brush tip...so I figured I'd give it a shot.

I have to say...I think I'm in love, baby. The fact that it's a brush as opposed to an IRON nib really enhances its smoothness and loses the jagged feel to it. Also, it just draws on the paper as opposed to make ENGRAVINGS on it like the technical pen did. Also, because it's so smooth, I can draw alot faster with it than the old pen. Only negative aspect is that you can't get as much details in as you could've with the 0.25mm point on the technical pen. Anyways, having tried the brush pen, I decided to go full steam and test out using brushes for inking instead of pens...and I have to say, I can now understand why some people have a strong preference for it. I have to admit, although it HAS its weaknesses, it still works pretty darn well...and, I'm actually adjusting to it alot better than I had expected...so, definitely look forward to more brush action from me in the future.

Upcoming Sale:
At the beginning of December (or maybe even as early as the day after Thanksgiving), I'm probably gonna go all out and have a Holidays' art sale...I'll announce it on my journal...however, to make things more interesting, I'm thinking about opening up THREE freebies for the first 3 people to post on that journal with some random/quirky comment (maybe a haiku or something fun of the sort). Dang, been a while since I wrote a journal...over a month, even. Anyways, update:

I moved out and starting living on my own...hence the absence. It's been a crazy month, really. So many changes so it took some time for things to settle in. Anyways, just wanted to say that I'm back, finally.

Umm...let's see, what's new? A few weeks ago, one of my professors asked me to help him out with this research project he's working on for UMBC/John's Hopkins Hospital so I've been doing some work for that as a Concept Artist. Since it's only just started, things are going rather slowly...I guess since they're still working on the general idea/feel of the project so things are still a bit messy but, I dunno...I hope things will pick up soon.

Asides from that, I've been busy as Hell the last few weeks from work. Like 55+ hours of work a week for about 3 consecutive weeks is absolutely insane. However, looks like things are finally cooling down so I'm finally going to have some free time starting this week. Yay!

Oh yeah, I went to the Baltimore Comicon a few weeks ago. Got a chance to meet David Finch...who, I have to admit, is a GOD. Seriously...bald head and all. Regardless of Bayani says, I thought he was pretty cool...granted, I didn't really care much because just SEEING him in person...man, such an incredible feeling. It's kinda like, it's one thing when you meet just another person...but meeting your IDOL. Dang, something about it...I can't describe it. Just simply, "Wow". Also saw Jim Lee and Frank Cho...and I was pretty surprised too (I didn't really get a chance to talk to them since their lines were, like...HUGE) but it's strange seeing them in person. I've always had this image of Jim Lee as like, this incredible figure of artsy-fartsy-ness but seeing him in person...he looks like just every other 40-year old Asian guy (no offense). Same is true with Frank Cho, although a bit younger. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean any disrespect. It's just that over the years, I've come to really admire these 2 artists...I mean, in one corner, you have a head-honcho from DC, the owner of Wildstorm, the creator of Wildcats, one of the founding fathers of Image Comics and the other one is probably one of the greatest comic artists ever (asides from David Finch, of course)...I mean, c'mon...these are people I respect like utter Hell...these are my heroes, ya know? So I guess over the years, I've always held these 3 artists with the utmost respect (shorter time period for Cho since he hasn't been in the industry for quite as long as Lee). Anyways, that was definitely a mesmerizing day...that's probably the first time I've ever felt a case of anxiety from the sheer act of seeing a person...that isn't a hot, scantily-clad female.

I also got a chance to meet alot of other interesting people. I got to chit-chat with alot of the people there and I dunno, I had a BLAST! I literally spent like 5 hours doing NOTHING except walk around and talk to people in Artist Alley...and walk around completely amazed and dazzled by the amount of amazing artists all around me. God...just thinking about brings smiles to face. All in all, great time. Probably the most enjoyable con I've been to so far...which is saying quite a bit since Otakon was a blast too. I'm currently looking into SDCC next Summer... ;)

In other news...one...more...month. I'm like, completely stoked about it. Seriously...it's gonna be the thing to end all things (most notably: free time). What is it, you may ask? 2 Words...Hellgate...London. I've been looking forward to this title for YEARS...ever since Blizzard North broke away and formed Flagship Studios, I've been following this title like crazy. I swear, starting from November 1st, I am seriously gonna get like, no work done whatsoever...so I'm trying to finish up all of my projects before it comes out. Hahaha!

Anyways, to celebrate the fact that I actually have days off this week, I'm gonna open up TWO DIGITAL COMMISSION slots. If I have more time, then more slots will open up as things move along but for now, only 2. First come, first serve.

1. I'm a hardcore Linkin Park/Forte Minor fan
2. Linkin Park is THE only group in all of music history where I can listen to a CD and like EVERY single track on it (as with Hybrid Theory, Meteora, Reanimation, etc)...this is almost reached by Evanescence, which had only 1 or 2 bad songs. Most CD's tend to have only a few good songs and a majority of bad tracks.
3. The song, "What I've Done", on the Transformers soundtrack was absolutely incredible.

So I got my hands on it...

First thing I did would be the obvious, flip to Track 6 and listen to "What I've Done"...loving every single second of it. Afterwards, after a few repeats, I go back to the beginning and listen through the CD...and I have to say...

I'm...umm...disappointed. Very, very disappointed.

With the exception of about 3 songs, the rest of the CD is *quite* bad. I've noticed that there isn't much Mike Shinoda presence in the whole thing...which is kinda bad because I think, sometimes, his lyrics wrap the songs together alot better than Chester Bennington (vocalist). Anyways, the lyrics are nowhere nearly as deep as they were in the past. As a matter of fact, it seems alot like Chester really dominated this CD, with Mike getting pushed back...so, without their rap counterpart, this new Linkin Park feels more like just a typical rock band...no longer the Hybrid Theory that they once tried to be...

Anyways, just wanted to say that Glow Plug, Moggie, Pyrria, Kai, and Night Shadow are totally awesome and thanks for hanging out with me! This con wouldn't have been any fun without you guys!

I also met =DreiGrasheir who is one of my earliest watchers so that was pretty neat! Anyways, he hung out for a while and we had a discussion about art and various techniques and whatnot. Also had this really amusing conversation with this girl about old-skool anime series. Anyone remember "Venus Wars", "8 Man", "Demon City Shinjuku", etc when they used to show them on the Sci-Fi channel?

So, summary...it's pretty good. Not THE best, but definitely entertaining. Oh and Megan Fox is...well, HOT! Wow, definitely one of the hottest actresses right now. Jessica Alba got nothing on Fox. (Alba fans, please don't hurt me now).




Anyways, first off, there's the action scenes: Wow. Bay and his CGI team did an amazing job. The robots were incredibly well designed and the action scenes were just off the wall. Totally spectacular! Probably on the same level as the team that did the Spiderman movies (if you know how big of a fan I am of the SM series, you'd understand that this means quite a bit). Then the story in itself is rather amusing. The jokes are funny, the plot holds, to some extent, and it's just a fun watch.

So, for criticisms, I'll have to say a few things as well. There were points in the movie where the plot just literally, DRAGS. Then there were also a few things that literally didn't make any sense whatsoever. Take for example, when the Autobots acquire the Allspark. They COULD'VE just destroyed the blasted thing then and there and save everyone the trouble of having to duke it out in the city later on where it'd wind up with the same result! Secondly, Optimus Prime is always bitching about how they can't hurt humans, thus stopping the other Autobots from blasting the shit out of the rest of the cast...yet there is one scene where Starscream shoots down a Blackhawk helicopter. Prime just runs PAST it without even bothering to try to save them or anything. I mean, I don't get it! It makes no sense. Like, so they can't hurt humans, themselves, but if OTHER guys hurt them, then it's Okay! Aye aye!

And, finally, for my BIGGEST criticism of this movie...Megatron.

Okay, I don't know about the general audience who's not familiar with the old series but the Megatron that's in the movie is NOT Megatron! That's Galvatron! Everything about the movie version screamed out Galvatron...from his transformation down to his design. Megatron's transformation was a Walther P38. Galvatron's transformation was a big-ass plane/spaceship thingy. Movie Megatron's transformation was a big-ass plane/spaceship thingy. Then there's also their general design. The movie version of Megatron looks MUCH, MUCH more like Galvatron than Megatron! I swear to God, take away Megatron's paint job and you LITERALLY have Galvatron!



Man...they could've saved themselves so much trouble by just calling him Galvatron!

And for the hardcore fans who knows who Galvatron REALLY is, yes yes, I am aware that Galvatron is the revived Megatron...

So, I also heard news that they're setting up their budgets for 2 more Transformers movies...my guess is #2 will bring in Grimlock and the Dinobots and the 3rd one, hopefully (strongly hoping) will be with Fortress Maximus (if you don't know who Fortress Maximus is, don't worry...barely anyone knows him...but he was the biggest Autobot ever)...but yeah, an all-out battle between Fortress Maximus vs Trypticon for the 3rd movie would totally be the epitome of awesomeness!

ANIME MID-ATLANTIC

So, let's see...I went to Anime Mid-Atlantic a few weeks ago. It was pretty chill...it was my first con so I was absolutely and completely unprepared for it...*chuckle*. Here's a few photos...


This is, without a doubt, THE coolest costume I've seen in my entire life...hands down. General Grievous from the Star Wars: Clone Wars never looked so cool...

METROCON

Then now for Metrocon! MC was soo much fun! I mean, seriously...I had a total blast! Met ALOT of cool people and I dunno, I just had an all-around great time there! This is probably the most fun I've had at a convention so far! The people in Florida totally rocks my socks!

I'll upload my "spoils" tomorrow or something when I scan it up...and, it IS really cool. Afini has never looked so good before...*mecha wings* ;)


I see this guy at a bunch of conventions...but his costume never ceases to amaze me (and freak me out).


If you grew up in the late 80's and early 90's and watched Fraggle Rock...you'd know why this guy rocks!


I swear to God, when this guy came down the escalators, EVERYBODY was literally worshipping him...as they should! PAY DUE RESPECT TO THE KFC COLONEL!!!


I don't like to admit this too often, but when the Power Rangers came out, I WAS a fan...and this chick was totally awesome. I never watched the spin offs so I'm not too familiar with the Space Rangers series...but this costume totally blew me away. Like, when she walked into the AA, I *literally* flung down my chair and just RAN to get the photo.


This was a part of the group of the "Hero Alliance". The girl that dressed up as Susan Storm is actually REALLY, REALLY HOT in person...but the photo really doesn't do her any justice. The guy playing Spidey kinda creeps me out...he tries to act "stealthy" but for some reason, he came off more as gay than anything else...and sent my Homophobe sense tingling! =p


Based upon a unanimous vote between me and Jay, this girl was THE hottest girl at Metrocon! The fact that she's dressed as Jill from the Resident Evil series only heightened that fact. Once again, the photo didn't do her any justice whatsoever...because she, in person, WOWZERS!


Light and Misa, from Deathnote. This is a cute picture. I WANTED to have L in it too (they went as a trio)...the girl playing L was so awesome, I swear! I mean, EVERY SINGLE TIME I saw her, she was completely in character. Like from her walk down to her every movement, she was L...but unfortunately, she isn't in this photo.


Alric Brothers. You can't goto a convention without someone cosplaying as a character from FMA...and, it'd be weird to claim that I went to a con without having a photo of an FMA cosplayer.


This is THE coolest costume at the convention. The guy playing the demon thingy is HUGE...I mean, the guy in it was standing on stilts and everything....and, I think the whole thing stood at around 10 feet or so, high. Craziness!

Of all the events, this is probably the only time when I actually have the time to go out and about...if anyone wants art lessons (at NO CHARGE, yes, FREE!), here's your chance. Hahaha! -THE BIGGEST EVENT of the ENTIRE Summer. Yes, Otakon is the IT-event of the year...so, excited? Damn straight I am! I won't be hanging out much afterwards (since I live about an hours drive away) but hopefully, I'll get a chance to hang out with those of you who I know is gonna be there. At this convention, my BEST pieces will up for bids...yes, The VENGEANCE piece WILL be up for bidding. Yep, the one piece that I consider to be one of the greatest pieces (not to mention, biggest 18"x24") I've EVER drawn will be up for bidding at this event. A few other pieces that will up for sale, either by auction or at-table, will be Burned By Temptation, Logged In, and Leif Stormhammer. Other than that, everything will be relatively normal. Oh yeah, first person of the day to go over and buy me an AppleGeeks T-shirt gets a free commission (the commission is compensation for the $15 bucks they'll charge for the T-shirt...lol). Also, I'm going to need someone to take a photo of me proposing marriage [I'm kidding, not that I wouldn't do it, though...hehe] to Mamiko Noto as well (yes, I am a HUGE fan of her...she's actually my 2nd favorite seryuu/voice actress of all time, following Yui Horie)...free commission to that person as well *cough* Kai, free art, free art *cough*. =)

The Rowr commission is turning out beautifully. ALOT better than I had anticipated and probably more time consuming than I had originally expected it to take (drawing it has been quite addictive, I admit, so I've been adding minor details every so often). No worries...I'm having a blast practicing these new techniques and everything (note, I'm drawing it alot differently than I did with the Kai one and this "new" style seems to work quite well). If I run into Mongo some time this week, he'll probably wind up being the first person to see how it looks...

In other news, I landed ANOTHER commission (2 as a matter of fact)! Hahaha... :strong:
I have to admit, word of mouth works so much better than any form of advertisement! THANK YOU, GUYS!

I need a Header for these journal entries...also need to start building my website...god, so busy. Anyone out there know PHP and would like to help me out? I'm trying to learn how to make a site where I can use a "template" header and footer and reuse that same ones for each page. Is there a special trick to it? I know it CAN be done...just have no idea how to do it. Hahaha!

Anyways, I would like to thank for taking an interest in my artwork enough to commission my work. I love her character...drawing it was an absolute pleasure and I learned alot while I did it.

I can definitely see a gradual (albeit slow) advancement in digital painting. This is probably the first piece (in QUITE some time) where I actually drew a pretty nicely detailed background. Trust me, I haven't done that in AGES! Hahaha!

In other news, the 2 boxes of Micron pens I ordered just arrived. So what does that mean? Simply put...better lineart. Yep, I'm not stuck with just the 0.20mm and 0.45mm Microns anymore, but now I got the entire set of 6...2 sets, as a matter of fact. I'm still looking to purchase a couple sets of the Staedtler Fineliners though. If anyone knows anywhere that sells them for a nice price, please do let me know.

Hahaha...kidding about the speed...sorta. I actually spent my entire week of vacation playing "Need for Speed: Most Wanted" which I have to say is one of the greatest games ever made...and I'm saying that even though I absolutely hate Electronic Arts (EA) for butchering a number of series that I've followed over the years (i.e. Command & Conquer).

So, let's see, what's been going on...I just signed up to take the PCAT...I also tried to apply for a bunch of positions in various game companies for the job of concept artist and, well...

I actually made it into the 3rd round of the Xull'Rae contest (4/32). THAT'S FREAKIN AWESOME!!! The funny part was that I only expected to get into the 2nd round at best...so I'll probably wind up losing but JUST being there beside Aikurisu and Silent-Dream is pretty awesome!!!

Goodbye subscription...I'm gonna miss you. It's been one great week with my lovely subscription...and tonight will be my last day. I'm gonna severely miss it...I'm already missing it NOW!!!

You know what I've realized...? A subscription to DA is kinda like a can of Pringles...once you pop, you can't stop...it's freakishly addictive...yet it just HAD to happen on one of my busiest weeks ever. I mean, I had to run around like crazy to get my car fixed this week...had ALOT of classwork...add on my work schedule since my coworker took a week off to go on vacation...oh god, I'm going nuts!

So, my car recently had to be taken into a shop to get fixed...so I had to get a rental car. I wound up taking a Mitsubishi Lancer...and, ya know what? OMG...I think I fell in love...seriously, I dunno why, but me and a Lancer are just absolutely made for each other! I love the sleek design, I love the feel of it, I love the way it makes me feel all giddy when I drive beside someone, give them the bird, then speed away laughing like the crazy bastard that I am...

Wow, sorry for the recent relative innactivity. I've been SOOO freakishly busy and stressed out. My Organic Chemistry class is going absolutely crazy. Our second exam was this week...class average = 66%. There were 16 people in our class when it started...it's down to 10, now. The others all dropped. C-R-A-Z-Y...!!!

But yeah, I can't even draw in class anymore...so that's gonna slow down my deviations for a while...(sorry!)

Has anyone seen the Xull'Rae contest. Wow...over the last few weeks, I was starting to get too "comfortable" with the relatively weak competition...but dammit! Somebody had to go and ruin it! Hahaha...but yeah, there's ONE on there that I think is killer awesome...I mean, I was totally blown away by how good it is...the thing is that if you know me well enough, not alot of people can do that...seriously. It's not a matter of me not admitting that somebody is better than me or to be "blown away" but when you see alot of other people's works and you, yourself are capable of completely emulating them or even surpass them, then you don't think that alot...but that piece really deserved it. Go check it out to see what I mean...and once again, WOWZERS!

(the arms are a little short, though) ;)

But yeah, that puts me back to the drawing/redesign board. Hahaha! I'll still go with Psion...but I'll need a better design/idea to stand a chance against it.

The Pencil Club's WWF competition is looking pretty nice. There's only 1 or 2 piece that I find to be much challenge...the rest are...meh. I knew one thing when I signed up...namely that all the noobier artists that decide to go with fire are all gonna do phoenixes or dragons...and I was right. Hahaha! Strangely enough, there aren't that many fire-themed pieces, regardless...that's good, to some degree...but then again, it looks like all the advanced artists are waiting for the last minute to submit their stuff...so it should be quite interesting. (my theme will be fire...and no, it's not gonna be a dragon or phoenix...it'll be IFRIT! Haha, sike sike...that'd be downright copyright infringement)

Last night was my boss's retirement party so I joined the group of people going. OMG, soo freakin' funny. What is it about retirements that makes people just LOVE to roast you? So...he got totally roasted and it was just so absolutely hilarious! God, I haven't had so much fun in so long...will miss the big fella.

This is an excerpt of something that just floored the entire room...Esther is this cute, young pharmacist. Bill is the manager. They've been coworkers for a few years, I think.

Esther: "Bill is a great guy, a great manager. We've known each other a long time...yadda yadda yadda..." (she's pretty shy so she's blushing and getting really embarassed)..."sorry I'm getting so emotional, I'm just pregnant".

That just sent the crowd totally off. (joke = Bill got her pregnant, which he didn't...but it was just a natural way of thinking based on what she was kinda saying). We all were all like :rofl:

Yep, it's my Elves Gone Wild contest entry...I decided to completely remodel her...and yeah, she turned out to be QUITE sexay! Hahaha! MUCH MUCH more than the WIP I put up a while back...

Anyways, she's gonna be somewhat nude...and her bod is FINNEEEE. Sexiest pose I've EVER drawn in my entire life...to the point that it's borderline hentai. Don't worry, it's not. I swear! Anyways, I was originally planning on doing it digitally but figured I'd try traditional mediums first...finished and loved it so much that I decided to stick with the colored pencil version...

In other news, I'm looking for a new job. I mean, I DO have a job, but I want to keep my options open. I'm thinking of applying for Kaiser Permanente. I dunno what it's like there but I hope they pay better than where I'm currently making. I swear, I NEED at $15+ salary...eesh!

The nib on my wacom tablet is totally worn out (and I lost the nibs when I originally bought it) and now it barely works so I'm probably not gonna get as much done as I'd like to until I order a new set...especially with the stuff that requires digital paint. I'll probably start the Wind Water Fire contest entry soon...so look forward to that. It'll probably be my best thing this entire Summer since that's probably the hardest of them all, considering the insane amount of competition involved.

It was a really interesting idea although I think I bit off more than I could chew when I decided to focus on the lighting as much as I did...wound up spending just about as much time as I did on the Dark Phoenix piece. Then another problem arose when coloring it...since the weakness of the Prang's were that they didn't blend too well when you apply too much pressure on it...that caused me quite some headaches. Hahaha! But oh well, I think the end result turned out pretty decently.

Lastly but DEFINITELY not leastly, I WON A FEATURE!!! Sweetness! Many thanks to . Glad you liked it. I'm really excited/thrilled about this!!!

SoOoo...just now as I'm rereading that, I just realized I totally screwed up. Hahaha! I wound up drawing and inking my version of the Phoenix from the comics (somehow, in my mind, I mis-remembered him just asking for an interpretation of Phoenix). Regardless, I didn't really like the Phoenix from X-Men 3 movie...more or less because I think Famke Janssen is fugly...which she is. I dunno, maybe I'll do it later on...but for now, you're stuck with Dark Phoenix, based on marvel designs. =P

I'll upload the Xull'Rae WIP after I get off work tonight. I'm currently using my main computer right now and I don't feel like going upstairs to get the tablet PC down...

Recently, my new manager actually came to me and asked me to design a tattoo for her. I was floored. Hahah...I mean, can you imagine a pharmacy manager who's in her 30's (she's actually QUITE attractive) asking you for a tattoo that she wants to get? What's so strange about it, you ask? Just simply her job. I mean, can you imagine your doctor with a tattoo? It's just unheard of...either that or I'm a tad on the prude side. But yeah...I found that quite amusing.

In my spare time, I'm learning to do digital painting. I borrowed Painter IX from a friend and have been tinkering around with it some lately. It's actually REALLY good. I like it alot better than Photoshop...

In other (DA) related news...I'm almost up to 1k pageviews and 100 favorites! Yay! Sweet-motha!!! Hahaha! I dunno about all you long timers who are thinking, "Pshh, big deal"...but I think it's pretty awesome. Yeah, yeah, I know, I know...I'm such a DA-virgin... =p

Anyways, I've been tinkering around with my tablet pc and it's actually quite slick. It can't handle Photoshop too well but Alias Sketchbook Pro runs very smoothly. I'm probably gonna look into possibly buying OpenCanvas which I've read alot of good reviews about...and maybe even try out Painter IX, which is said to very good as well.

Currently I'm taking Organic Chemistry in a community college. In my University, I usually get like D's on my exams...and, coming here, first exam, 97%, fourth highest grade in the class. Hahaha! Pathetic! LOL! Really comes to show the difference in difficulty level between a state university and a community college.

Tonight I have something nice for ya. Ever wanted to see me draw AS I'm drawing? Now you have a chance...check this out...it's pretty slick. The first one is me drawing a dragon and the second one is an eye. I did the eye first so I haven't really gotten used to the program...however, the dragon's definitely an improvement.

Umm...I got accepted into the Talent Club! Yay! It's pretty sweet since I'm now among the B-Members which have ALOT of extremely gifted and talented people. Yes, it really IS quite an honor!

Further along, I've decided to join this pretty neat competition where we draw this drow-girl character. Ok, if anyone's been following my work...and notice which one is my most popular one - High Elf, this contest is just an absolutely perfect chance to really "duke it out" with other elf-obsessed people. Hahaha! I'm SOOOO looking forward to this...*takes off gloves*

P.S. - Gimme my fav's, dammit! LOL! So, for all those other artists out there who get alot of people come by and are like, "OMG! I LOVE THAT PIECE!
