Best time to see it.
Filmed in the handy cam type style you'll have to accept it's not exactly "HD" quality. Kinda blurry at times actually. That gave me a slight head-ache, and that is never good. Besides that, however, it kept me amused.
There are moments where you get freaked out, obviously that's sort of the point. Unfortunately, not as much as I think they were going for. The movie ended up being predictable and just a bit cheesy. The acting didn't help, it was rather mediocre most the film. But what ultimately made it predictable was the writers giving up too much of the mystery too early. This caused me to be expecting certain things to happen, and they did happen, which actually made me laugh sometimes.
Let me give credit on special effects, though. For a low budget film, they did a fairly good job with it. However, if they had to use more, it wouldn't have been very decent, so I'm glad they didn't have to.
I enjoyed this movie, but somewhat for the wrong reasons. To me, the film is mediocre at best.

Where the Wild Things Are
I don't know where my copy of this book is. I haven't looked at it for over a decade after all. With that said, I don't remember it quite like this movie depicted it as.
A slightly bratty, and possibly mentally challenged young boy decided to run away from home, and let his imagination take total control. From there on, I wondered if I was high or something. An incredibly strange string of events played out to the end, and ended up sending an odd message. What I got out of it was: "if you act like a brat, and run away from home, you'll get chocolate cake when you come home."
It's hard for me to talk about this movie....
So even though I think the plot is messed up, I do have some good things to say. Starting with the acting, pretty good child actor playing the main role. The monsters had good voice actors as well. Also I really like how the monsters looked and played.
Ultimately, a weird movie, in a bad way. I'm not sure I'd want to take my child to see it.

2012
What a rush! My friends called this movie "disaster porn" for a good reason.
You most likely know what this film is all about; the end of the world, right? And boy was it. First off, if you see this movie, you need to go in knowing it's not going to be realistic in the slightest. Once you accept that, the movie will be easier to enjoy.
The action and disaster scenes were nothing short of spectacular. The combination of elite special effects and CGI made each of the disaster scenes give me goose bumps. Absolutely amazing.
And that was the best part of the movie I think. The actual plot of the movie is questionable and not exactly original, but not as bad as the critics were spewing. I enjoyed the characters that were written in, especially Charlie Frost. I was a little disappointed he got killed off without too much camera time, but there was a Russian character to make up for it. As far as the acting goes, it was OK, but not too believable unfortunately.
The bottom line; a stellar disaster film, one of the most intense I've ever seen. It kept me on edge pretty much the whole time. But, you have to like this type of film to appreciate it.<br...

Don't know if I'm gonna post it or not, we'll see. But now this means I can really focus on the comic, now officially called "Our School Days." Starring Brett Baxter (yes he has a last name, and a facebook), as you may have known already. I have five characters I'm confident with at the moment. So, now I need to start putting them in their places and practice drawing them. This may take some time, because I'm slow and using a tablet, which is better than a mouse but still.
Feeling pretty confident about this. And of course I'll punch out some misc. stuff for you.

-Otherwise
Well, the weather is totally crazy last 24 hours. What it is,
So I will actually update now.
Natural disasters continue to plague the planet without mercy as we draw ever closer to our ultimate destruction and eradication. I am of course referring to the December 21st, 2012 deadline, which I actually do NOT believe is our judgment day. Never-the-less, mother nature just wants to wreak havoc on our dearly beloved Earth, with massive typhoons and hurricanes, flooding, snow storms, and the Yankees possibly on their way to the world series wtf?
I believe the world has gone crazy.
As for me, I shut a car door on my thumb and it since has turned purple and continues to cause me pain. I also got hit in the head by a bowling ball, after which I did not bowl well. At first any way. OH, and those two events occurred on the same night. Ha ha that was a bad day.... I failed to get a job as well, but I could be on my way to getting one at Ivar's. Stay tuned.
Mood-wise, it still goes up and down, up and down. You know how it is. I'm doing ok.

2. Arts
The projects are as fallows:
-School Dayz: almost to the stage of starting to draw up test strips.
-Misc: A little somethin somethin.
Um, that's it. I'll do some random stuff here and there while I work on the two things above. Maybe another space pic eventually. Sounds good to me.

3. Movie reviews
The next movies I'll review are:
-Where the Wild Things Are
-2012
-Astro Boy
-A Christmas Carol
Those are the movies I am currently intending to see. This list is of course subject to change.

Blah Blah. I'm done for now. Eventually the Nigerians escort them to a slummy area on the surface. My first critique is; how could you be so stupid as to fly your helicopters up to an alien space craft and then break in? It would have made more sense if the aliens had landed and asked the humans for help. But I guess the writers didn't think the beginning through, they just wanted to get set up for the main story.
Also, the aliens seem to be a bunch of pussies with laser guns. Considering how the Nigerians treat them, and their numbers (millions), I would think they would revolt against the Nigerians. But apparently not.
There are other strange elements as well; like prostitution, humans with the aliens....
ew
So, aside from atrocious writing, the film is ok. Our main character starts out as kind of a bad guy who has some change of heart during the course of the movie, after he starts turning into an alien. There's a number of disturbing, but exiting action sequences that hit a pretty awesome climax at the end. It reminded me of Transformers, in a good way. I'll have to say that District 9 is really for sci-fi lovers and not meant for people who don't like to see people exploding in guts and gory stuff.
Overall rating:
As a sci-fi movie, it ranks a little bit higher than that.

GI Joe
I knew this was a bad idea as soon as I saw the preview for it.
Dear lord....
One of the most prominent things in this film is the CG. Not only is it over used, but badly done also. It's very obvious. In fact, everything in this movie was overdone and not good. The Joes' base, the arctic base, the action scenes, all BLEH! I haven't even addressed the main story yet.
The story isn't written well. The two main characters are trying to protect some precious merchandise when some people come and try to take it, but they fail because the Joes come and take it to their secret base in Egypt. Our two heroes are confused but then decide to join GI Joe, for some reason. Then the bad people come again and take the stuff that the Joes were trying to protect. Oh and the stuff is actually some crazy nano technology that eats metal. Cool. And then they attack Paris with it. Blah blah blah.
Actually, the chase sequence in Paris was probably the best scene in the entire movie, which is sad because it really wasn't that spectacular. By this point, I was just bored. Cheesy script writing and bad acting were also part of the problem.
We do get to see the rise of Cobra, sort of. But the Commander gets captured in the end, which I think is stupid.
This entire movie was stupid. Overall rating:
Yeah, it's not good enough to be mediocre. If you haven't seen this movie, don't waste your money.

9
9 was a bit refreshing after seeing GI Joe. Still, I have a few issues with it.
One of the first things I noticed was how jumpy the plot is. Now, I know this whole thing is based off of an animated short, but it jumped from one part to the next a little too quickly for my liking. A friend of mine also pointed out that the animation looked like video game cut scenes. To an extent, I agree, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Especially if you've played Halo 3 or Halo Wars. The cut scenes on those two games are wonderfully animated. Getting back to the poin...

Arts
I haven't done too much, as usual, but I'll go ahead and list what I'm working on:

-The School Dayz
I'm considering changing this name again, we'll see if I come up with anything. Otherwise, I've got things played out in my mind with the comic. What I need to do is figure out how I'm going put it all together. I've been kind of lazy about it but it's cool. I'm working on it.

-1 Request
Promised a pic to a good friend of mine. I started it, sorta, and I swear I saved it, but I can't find it >.< Oh well, I guess I'll start over. Hadn't done much with it anyway so it's fine. Not sure how far I'll take it though. I suppose I should make a finished product. I guess it depends on if he wants it to be all wrapped up and tied with a bow.

-Random Stuff
Whatever pops in that crazy head of mine.

3. Movie Reviews
I've got District 9, GI Joe, and soon Inglorious Bastards to review. I'll probably do them all at once. Oh, and the reviews will hit my facebook for the first time soon as well. By soon, I mean next week.
I also watched The Lion King the other day. Great movie, but innocently suggestive once or twice. lol

4. Personally
Not a lot to report. Still job hunting, but starting to put a lot more effort into it now. Arts
I have a new space pic in the works. Once I really sit and work on it, it wont take me long to do. I hope anyway.

"The School Dayz" got its thumbnail on drunkduck.com, isn't that exciting?! yeah, I know. But if you'll notice, the name of the comic changed. there's a "the" in there now. This is because of a technicality on drunkduck, "School Dayz" was already taken, by a stick figure comic. No worries though.

2. Journals
I'm going to stop updating the journal every week, mainly because I don't think they're read very often, and I still make too many. It's super ice! From Canada!

1. Dear Mr. Obama
You know what the nice thing about capitalism is? As long as we don't do stupid shit, it fixes itself. A capitalistic economy is like the average global temperature of the Earth, it goes up and down, up and down. What has happened after each and every economic slow down? Periods of growth.
Stop freaking out. Things are getting better. It's best to let capitalism do its thing. We don't need stimulus packages that put the country's rising debt higher. The only reason for that is so the government can tax the crap out of us later, making it harder for us to live. The whole point of breaking from the British in the revolution was to be free of ridiculous taxes and communism. So, Mr. Obama, I would love if you stopped spending money like someone with no leadership experience and actually do something good for our country.
Thanks.

-Jack-Mo

2. Arts
Not much changed from last week in terms of MY art status. Still thinking about commissions. BTW I need more people to respond to the poll on my page about that. Cuz after a week, I only got 6. >_>

So, I think it's time I addressed the issue of "styles." "What style to you use for drawings? Oh really? Wow, you fucking stole my style you jack-ass!"
NEWS FLASH! You don't own a particular style of drawing, you simply choose what is comfortable for you. Besides, I don't believe there are 6.5 Billion styles, so there aren't enough to go around.
You know, I have my fox character Jack (who closely represents me) who looks similar to a few others that i've seen. And I imagine that there are hundreds that look similar, maybe more. There's nothing you can do about it, so stop stressing about it. People are going to use similar styles, colors, characters, and designs as you, whether you like it or not. I'm tired of seeing drama about this. It's completely ridiculous.

3. Hungry
Gosh, after ranting for a few minutes, I worked up an apatite! I want food.

4. They're Coming to Take me Away
I love this song. Gum
This may be amusing to you. So when I'm out riding my bike, as I often do, occasionally I run into two little kids called Dumb and Stupid. Stupid is actually completely unimportant, but for the last 5 years Dumb has been thoroughly convinced I took his gum. Every time I ride by him, "I want my gum," "give me my gum." And yesterday it happened twice.
What's even more hilarious is that don't even chew gum.
So I have repeatedly told him this, and I don't have his gum. I'm not sure if he's even serious about it anymore, but I am certain that this kid has other things to worry about. I mean, it looks like he's about to head into high school. Yeah, time to get over yourself, kid.
L O L

2. Art
Have you liked my recent uploads? I wouldn't know because comments are more scarce than usual, but that's saying much, considering I don't get many comments anyway. It's a little annoying.
And yet despite that, I was thinking about commissions. Specifically, commissioning things like these:

Perhaps as backgrounds or somewhere along that line. I wouldn't charge much. I'd just be nice to get a little money out of it, especially since money is tight these days and I don't have a job yet. That said, I don't know if I should do that because I don't have much of an audience, or people who seem to care at all.
What do you think? I'll make a poll.
Besides that, I'll get back to work on "School Dayz" soonish, so I might be ready by fall. It'd make sense. Do know, that most the strips are going to be in black and white. I'm not interested in spending time to color each one I draw. I don't know how often I'll update it either, but whatever I do, I'll try to be consistent.

3. Running from Jew-Alex
When that man is after you in the night, it's very frightening. That was a fun night though.

4. Personal
Well, after about a month-in-a-half, I'm single again. Damn.
In other news; I'm getting a wisdom tooth pulled on Tuesday. That should be fun. Maybe some fillings too since I'm bad at taking care of my teeth and I has cavities. Damn. But I am trucking along as things get weird and confusing. By the way, I had a great fourth of July.

And we're out. Perhaps the actual war between Sky Net and the humans, which fans have waited to see for 25 years? Sort of. The plot was definitely different than the previous three films. In the beginning, the story focused on Conner and an unknown person who found himself awaking in a very war-torn world that is the U.S. in 2018. But then, it begins to head a different direction after Kyle Reece is captured by the machines. It becomes a race against time to save him from certain death.
I like this. For once it's not all about protecting John Conner, but more about saving his still young father. (it's best not to think about it too much, you'll get too confused) Plus this other unknown guy (I forgot his name, been a while) turns out to be a very interesting character. It was a fresh story line that hadn't been done yet, and that's exciting to me.
There aren't any big battle scenes between the humans and machines, more of a "hide and seek and chase" thing. There were some good chase scenes that were quite impressively accomplished. The actual rescue of Kyle Reece in the climax was quite entertaining as well, especially when we first see the t-800. Overall, there was plenty of action and drama, a little humor as with all Terminator movies, and a couple well-played plot twists.
The film was shot very well, with spectacular CG and other special effects, great casting, and combined a new and better plot makes Terminator Salvation a dazzling movie compared to its predecessors . Not without it's flaws and questionable elements of course, but the qualities far out-way the cons.

Angels and Demons

Tom Hanks stars in what some say is very similar to The Devinchi Code. To that, I say there are probably similarities, but I did not see the Devinchi Code. But if Angels and Demons is in any way similar to it, than I imagine the Devinchi Code was pretty good.
The story is powerful, full of twists and turns (some a bit disturbing), and enhanced by the amazing acting of Tom Hanks. It runs a little long, but kept me interested and at times literally on the edge of my seat. It's pretty complicated though, so you have to be focused or you wont understand anything.
The film seemed to hit my emotions harder than normal and i felt like I was there, witnessing first hand the events taking place. At the end of it, I was more than entertained. I had a similar feeling coming out of this movie as I did after The Dark Knight. A movie that can do that usually scores a lot of points with me.
Angels and Demons is also one of those films that is hard to describe after only seeing it once. To get a decent idea, you have to see the film yourself. However, I will say the movie was nothing short of fantastic.

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen

I was hoping this would be about more than the hotness of Megan Fox and sex sex sex. I was wrong wrong wrong. Of course we had the Auto bots fighting the Decepticons in some strange plot line that was hard to focus on because of the continuous sexual elements, and it might have been more interesting if they didn't try so hard to be funny. I mean, the little robot humping Fox's leg was just too much. And the twins... ridiculously stupid. And I'm sure Devastator didn't need a pair of testicles.
I did like the...

Movies to Review
I must review the following:
-Zombies of Mass Destruction (saw it at the Seattle International Film Festival)
-Angels and Demons
-Terminator Salvation

I also saw UP. It was entertaining and I'd give it

3. Arts
I'm finishing something TONIGHT, but I wont post it right away because it's for a specific person and i want him to see it first. I'm almost done with the quarter and out for summer, so I will soon have time to do more art stuff i guess. Mainly work on the "School Dayz" comic. I actually have worked on it. I've drawn out a few strips on paper. They're no good right now, but eventually I'll start drawing them digitally. Right now, there are only 4 known characters:
-Brett
-Roland
-Brett's Friend(name not decided yet)
-Crazy Teacher (still no name for her either)
I'm making progress. Just gotta finish the quarter first.

4. Facebook
Time for me to officially express my frustration with this abomination called facebook. The site breaks down all the time and keeps signing me out. I'm only on this site for my friends. That's the only reason why I don't just up and leave facebook right now.
What a load!

5. Personally
Lonely, but busy enough that it doesn't bother me too much right now. That said, soon there will be plenty of time to think about it once the quarter ends. Hopefully I'll get a job this summer. The economy seems to be turning a corner, so maybe I can find some work. I'll actually have to try though, like get up and go.
I guess I'll just have to live with what happens.

I almost forgot to write this week. I'm sure you wouldn't have cared too much x3

_______________________________________________________
Burn.

X-Men
Star Trek
_________________________________________________________

X-Men Origins
The prequel to what was perhaps a disappointing trilogy, X-Men Origins was highly anticipated anyway because it's got a lot of Wolverine. And boy does it, if you catch my drift.
The movie sets way back to the 1800s when Logan was a child. We get see a little sequence of how he and his brother Victor spent the next century-in-a-half together. Fighting in wars and such, up to the point where they split up after Vietnam or something. The time line is a little hard to figure. The first third of the film I'm a little underwhelmed with, but once Logan actually becomes Wolverine, it gets better.
I thought the whole thing could have been written better, but I suppose they needed to fit the plot together with the trilogy. Victor is a good example. Where does he fit in to the plot? Such a major character with no ties to the trilogy (as far as I know). But for this film, Victor worked out OK. Once things started to get tied together, I was happy.
Plenty of action and humor and nerdy references to things I don't know about that will make you squeal and twist in your seat. Though they really sneak in the climax. I didn't know I was watching the end until the "Back-to-back" line came up again. Ultimately, the action scenes were mostly well done, the special effects looking Marvel-us. And nothing was too much or overdone like in the third movie of the trilogy. The acting was also better, I thought. Hugh Jackman was simply awesome.
I had some high expectations for this movie because of all the hype, and overall I must say it met those expectations. So, here's a rating:
It was good.

Star Trek
Live long and prosper.
This film also had a lot of hype tied with it, because it's Star Trek. Specifically, a sequel to the first series with Captain Kirk and Spock.
The first thing I want to talk about is the crew outfits. Thinking about it now, I'm laughing because they looked ridiculous. I imagine they looked that way in the first series as well.
Moving on, this film is not exactly what you're thinking. With this plot, they actually changed the future. Which means forget any Star Trek series you ever watched except the first one. I'm not sure if I like that or not. While were on the subject of plot, the plot in general is a little strange. They made it entertaining enough, with tons of humor. Perhaps a little more than necessary, but this film will make you laugh. It has its fair share of action as well, but I didn't like how the action scenes were done too much. They were all pretty short except for the ending. And the ending, while climactic and we get the bad-ass Captain Kirk moment, I found it was lame. All in all, I didn't care too much for the plot. But it was nice to see a Star Trek film with state-of-the art special effects. The acting was also pretty good, but I didn't always believe Spock.

Here's your rating:
Overall entertaining and worth seeing, but not great.

_______________________________________________________
Burn.

Reviews
I've got things to write reviews on. First of all, X-Men Origins. Also going to review Star Trek when I see it, Terminator Salvation, Angels and Demons, and possibly the Halo video game series if I feel like it.

2. Artistically
I haven't worked on much at all because of two things; school and laziness. And recently I've been busy doing some things like acting yesterday, and other stuff. And by the looks of things, I am going to remain busy enough to remain too uninspired to to punch out anything too exiting. However, Puzzy gave me a comic idea the other day that I plan to do soon.
Projects:
School Dayz (in development stage)
Misc stuff (like the space battle thing)

3. Swine
So apparently the whole swine flu thing was kinda overkill and wasn't nearly as bad as "they" thought it would be. But internet news surfing turned up that the Swine flu could be bad in the fall. Just a rumor for now.
Figures. The entire planet freaks out, and it doesn't turn out to be much at all.

4. Personally
I was mad at my best friend earlier this week, because I don't the feeling as if I don't make enough of an impact on people to be remembered. But I didn't have the heart to stay mad at him for more than a couple of days, so I'm not anymore. Otherwise, the mood swings continue to plaque me. But, while I've been moody lately, I don't feel all that bad right now. A friend made me feel a little better the other day, just by talking with him. Amazing how that works. Music helps too.
So, in the end, kinda the same stuff as every week.

This journal was a day late because I didn't feel like writing it on Thursday, and Friday I got way busy. so I wrote it today. Not too long, but more than last week. Have a nice week everyone.

_______________________________________________________
Burn.

First 100 Days
Obama has been our president for roughly 100 days now, so where does he stand?
-Obama plans a multi-trillion dollar budget for next year, having already spent trillions in his first 100 days. Apparently radical spending is supposed to help heal our rather large deficit...?
That's my big critique.

2. One Step From a Global Pandemic
This swine flu some serious little bug. There have been a couple of probably cases around the Seattle area now, which has only made me a little concerned. It spread pretty fast. Imagine if it were a zombie outbreak. 0_o
The "Who" (what?) is all like "this gone be a global pandemic lots!" So I suggest caution to all of you.

3. Personally
Not too much news from my end this week. Nothing's changed with me except my mood, and I'm not getting into that. I'm doing fine.

Next week I'll probably have a little more to talk about. Connection Successful.

1. Living Dead
Infection weekend on Halo 3 is back baby!!

2. Artistically
Honestly, I haven't worked on that space pic this week. I'll get to it when I get to it. I might restart it actually, just because I fell out of my rhythm with it.
If you recall; I officially dropped ROFL last Friday. Well, it didn't take me very long to come up with something new, "School Dayz." It is currently in development, but I've done a few test strips already. I think it'll work out. However, please note there will be no guest character appearances. All the characters are 100% mine.
No exceptions.
Otherwise, I'm just thinking about some random stuff.

3. Avatar
No, not the the last air-bender. But wouldn't it be interesting to talk about?
No I'm talking about my DA icon. I changed it. First time in a while. This is exclusively for Deviant Art. I do not plan to change my icon on any other site at this time. Why did I change it? Well, let's just say I'm taking a precaution.

4. Facebook and Twitter
Pretty cool sites, except Facebook breaks and Twitter so popular it can hardly handle all the hits and profiles so it's kinda slow.
In honesty, I only have a facebook account because a bunch of my friends do. I don't really like it all that much, and it keeps spamming me with this "compare your friends" garbage making it more of hassle and annoyance to check messages there rather than a pleasure.
Whatever. I like Twitter, despite it being slow sometimes. It's just neat and I love it's color. :3

5. Personally
I had a good week. I was strangely up-beat, happy, and hyper for much of the time. However, I'm even more self-aware than I used to be, probably because of my Human Relations class. We're talking about how we're always communicating with people, no matter if we even intend to or not, because of body language. That kind of stuff drives me crazy. Not a bad class, though. It's helping me see humanity in a slightly brighter light, which may be part of the reason I had a good week. Also assisting in that: coming up with the new comic, and nicer weather.
It's nice to have some warmer temperatures.

No, I hate mudkips. I love pikachus though. Give me one.

_______________________________________________________
Burn.

ROFL... ???
Yeah, about that. I no longer have interest or motivation for it, and I'm tired of feeling obligated about it. So, I've made the decision to cancel it. There will be no ROFL comic. I apologize to those who might have been looking forward to it.
This doesn't mean I'm done with comics, it just means I need to move on to something more appealing to my interests. If I come up with a new idea, I'll be sure to mention it.

2. MSN Absence
I've been off MSN for several days. The reason for this is; until yesterday afternoon (which was awesome), I was not in a fantastic mood and I didn't feel that I should be too social until I recovered. And, now I have a bit, so I'll be on this evening and weekend. Sorry to my contacts.

3. Artistically
Having already talked about ROFL, here's the rest of the art update:
-Still working on the Epic Space Battle pic. There is no set date of completion.
-I finished my new DA ID. I like it. And a few others have as well it seems. Thanks for the support.
-I'll be brainstorming now and again for new ideas.

4. Personally
Kind of a long week. Haven't felt too great, and I've been moody. Started Monday, ended late Thursday. I feel better for now.
Yesterday, a couple friends came over when I wasn't there and made me come home. Then we deliberated on what to do, and actually came up with something. We made a video, it was super fun. I'm such a dork though. X3 But they cheered me up.
Otherwise, just college going on for me. Looks like I'm gonna get kinda busy, or busier, with school work soon. Loads of fun. Still job searching. I hope to land a job before June. That would be lovely.
It'd be even lovelier if I found a lover >.> hehe <3

Fantasy is my reality.

_______________________________________________________
Burn.

Around the Horn
Baseball season is in full swing, and you can bet I'm following the Mariners closely. So far, not too shabby. I like.

2. Level 3
A level 3 sex offender is bad. Having one in you human relations class is worse. Fortunately he sits in the back and I sit in the front. I'm still extra paranoid though.
Normally, I try to keep an open mind, but surely you can understand if this makes me a little edgy.... But so far, he doesn't seem like the most horrible person on the planet. The crime is eight years old, and he was drunk, according to campus security.
But still....

3. Sky Box
The greatest place for Halo 3 forge ever, easily surpassing Foundry. When I first saw the sky box for myself, I didn't know what to do with myself. Where to begin? Sand Box=best map in Halo history.

4. Sakura-Con
Gonna be down in Seattle tomorrow afternoon to hang around the Convention Center and take photos with . I'm also doing another space thing, which will be titled "Epic Space Battle." Need I explain more?
Haven't worked on anything else just yet, but I'll get around to ROFL eventually. I'm actually going to have homework this quarter as it seems, so might focus my attention more on that. Still plenty of free time though.

6. Personally
Not too sure what to say here. I'm a little more tired than usual, don't know why. Stress level is: moderately elevated
Depression level: no change
Yeah. >_>
If you want to chat, I don't bite. Send me a note or something. Cage plays a college professor who is just a little obsessed and just a little depressed, when his hard-of-hearing kid gets a 50-year-old paper with a bunch of seemingly random numbers. But as it turns out, they actually predict disasters. I was immediately reminded of the film "23."
I don't know if this was based off of a novel or not, but it doesn't seem very original to me. Pretty much the entire idea; end of the world, alien angels...? yadda yadda. Why are aliens showing up so much as plot-twists? A little bit overused. Although, in this case, they're a creative interpretation of what angels look like. I guess I can handle that.
I do however have a problem with there only being two main characters. While this did offer up plenty of time for massive character development between them, the wasn't room many others. Yeah, we got a couple more later on, but not soon enough. Basically I felt like I was watching the same two people for entire time, and in this movie that doesn't work.
Thankfully, the drama was mostly great, with credit to the acting. Everyone actually acted well. It was a good cast. Nickolaus Cage is always up to par, but I didn't expect that from the rest. Some good casting decisions there, well played.
Now, I must say I've seen better special effects. The CG at certain times was painfully obvious and distracting. Particularly in the last scene, which I don't even think needed to be there. It was clearly thrown in at the last second.
However, the plane crash and finishing sequence (before that other finishing sequence) were spectacular. The plane crash especially was well done. In fact, that whole scene was so amazing and even disturbing I cringed quite a bit and then had nightmares about it. Simply put, it was epic.
Overall, I can say this film is mostly for the action/sci-fi guys who don't mind a mediocre plot line, and Nickolaus Cage fans.
"Knowing":

Monsters vs. Aliens (Brief)
Family friendly comedy in 3D animation. No, I did not see this in 3D with nifty little 3D glasses. That gives me a head-ache. And I didn't find it necessary to spend five extra dollars to see animated comedy with Stephen Colbert voice acting the President of the United States, "the only place where aliens seem to land."
This movie is hilarious. With the massive references to 1950s monsters, insensitive government, bad-ass but dumb-ass presidents, it's just funny.
The plot was pretty good. Yes, it involved aliens, but it was a great twist and full of win. It was also fairly quick to get to the point of things and moved right along with subtle action and not too much drama. There was a little drama, but nothing spectacular or that lasted very long. A negative point. Also, not enough character development. It was there, but not enough to satisfy my urge for it.
The animation was fantastic, although I kinda miss 2D animation, but it was good non-the-less. In the first part of the first sequence I thought I was watching live action. HA! Voice acting was all pretty good as well.
Honestly, this is one of those movies you just might have to see for yourself. If it helps kick ya out the door, here's the rating:
"Monsters vs. Aliens":

Also, you might check out "I Love you Man" if you haven't already.
...

April 9th
...is when the Mythic Map-pack for Halo 3 hits the XBL marketplace! I can't wait.

2. Personal Journal
I've been thinking of keeping my own personal journal. No, not something public, private. I figure it might be a good way for me to focus my thoughts and truly be honest with myself. The only place where everything is 100% with out question truth.
But to reach the point where I would consider this, it being something I never saw myself doing, it's a mile stone I wasn't interested in reaching. I'll make a poll.

3. Movies
In the last week I've seen two movies; "Knowing" and "Monsters vs. Aliens." I will review both films shortly. Next month, I'll probably see and review "Observe and Report," but that's not guaranteed.

4. The Alaskan Way Viaduct(Rant)
Otherwise known as State Rout 99 through Seattle. This highway should be no less than 3 lanes north and south, and above ground, not below it. Why not? Well, it's already hard enough to get into the city as it is; Interstate 5 is almost always backed up, the mass transit is a joke, and 99 has lots of lights and is only 3 lanes. Turning the aged viaduct into a two lane tunnel will further cripple traffic trying to get in or through the area. Also, a tunnel next to a weak sea wall in earthquake country is just retarded, unless you want thousands of people to drown or be crushed.
I think our entire state legislator is drunk.
(end rant)

5. ROFL News/Fur and Skin
"ROFL" is taking a step back from major graphic novel story, which was what I originally thought it was to be, to a strip with minor plot laced in through it. With the characters at hand, I think that's a much better fit. And I'm still confident that "ROFL" will be better than its prequel. I will not give a release date. Character intros are still coming.
"Fur and Skin" is the next major project. This is still very early development, but basically it's all about an interstellar war between the Human race and the United Fox Alliance (UFA). I have three nameable main characters so far:
-Captain Happy Clams
-Lieutenant James
-Special ops Sargent Jack
That's all I'm going to reveal for now. If you have further questions about either "ROFL" or "Fur and Skin," I'll answer them if I can.

6. Personal
I'll list this part to save time.
-Signed up of spring quarter classes.
-Lazy/still job hunting... with little enthusiasm.
-Bad mood today and last couple, minor depression, a little antisocial, although I did drag to a movie last night.
-Honestly not looking forward to LLK at 's tomorrow.
-Overall, I'm meh.

OK, sorry for the kinda downer journal this week, and also for it being a day late. Anyway, I'll see you next week. Take care~

_______________________________________________________
Burn.

Twitter
The largest online craze sweeping the nation off of it's feet since Obama.com! (I don't don't know his website) And now, if I can ever be forgiven, I'm a part of that craze. Yes I have joined the bandwagon and created for myself a Twitter account. It's right on my DA main page if you want proof. [link]

2. AIG
HA!

3. Spring Break/Cleaning
Spring is here tomorrow! Let the people party, I say! What a long and drawn-out winter. Even I got tired of it. I did manage to finish my first quarter of college.
Now, I am on spring break, and it's time for some spring cleaning. In other words, account management. Pretty much all on DA: I will be going through my watch list and removing dead or dying accounts, as well as some people who I no longer find interest in art-wise. Obviously, I won't remove any accounts of people who I've developed an acquaintanceship with or better, or people I just like. Mostly just dead accounts, no one will really notice because I don't think you all pay that much attention to me anyway.

4. Comment Shortage
I know, I know, you have lives to tend to. You're busy people.
It just gets old getting only replies to comments I made saying the same thing. Most of you are pretty good at this. It's not that I don't appreciate you taking the time to reply to my mediocre comments I leave you now and then, I just find myself desiring more. I want attention! MORE! GIVE ME MOAR!!!!!!!!!1!1ONE!
lol
What I'm really saying here is, just don't forget I exist. ^^
And really there's a few of you who regularly comment and let me say thanks to you for that. Thanks. <3

5. Monsters vs Aliens
I learned Stephen Colbert voice acts in this film, so now I want to see it.
It'll be my second review of the year.

Now that I'm done griping, comment, or GTFO. <3

_______________________________________________________
My FA page: [link]

Hail, snow, wind, and sleet.
My trip to Ocean Shores last weekend was quite enjoyable, though not so relaxing as I hoped. I did see Watchmen though. The weather was crazy. The wind howled (which I expected), it snowed, and it hailed like it would never hail again. The only thing missing was lightning.
So, driving back on Sunday, I drove right into a heavy snow shower. Visibility was 0 for a few minutes, and you could say I was nervous (more like caught off guard and freaked out). But I made it home safe and sound.

2. MSN fail
For those of you who have my MSN, I apologize for being away for a week. I just haven't been into chatting. But I'll be on at random times this weekend, so if you catch me, let's chat it up west side!

3. Sim City
I like building urban empires. But I hate the damn environmental adviser who shut down my water pumps. Bitch.

4. ROFL news
Eh.
My interest of late has not been with that comic. I haven't worked on it much at all. I did, however, come up with a fun way of introducing the characters in the comic. Unfortunately that requires effort on my part. But I think I'll try to do it.
As for the comic itself, don't ask. It will come when it comes.

5. Washer down
Our ten-year-old washing machine broke, only a few days after the warranty on it expired. XD So now we're spending some good money to get a new one. I hope we don't have any other "surprises" for a while.

6. Personally
I've been having dreams of death. Pleasant, I know. The good news is, it's me doing the dieing not anyone else. Still, I find it strange. But despite the dreaming, I have been sleeping better than previously.
I haven't felt like doing much with other people in the last few days. Me being a loner I suppose. It's odd how I, the lonely one, would want to be alone.
Oh well. My social-ness comes in on and off shifts. And ultimately, emotionally, I'm doing fine since Saturday.

That's all you get from me. Especially since you all have some sort of comment deficiency.
Jack-Mo Reviews
_________________________________________________________

My first review of 2009. This a highly anticipated film, so my standards for it were high.

But where to begin?
The whole movie was a trip. Obviously a drama with humorous moments laced through it, but also a sci-fi. Like Spiderman, except it tops Spiderman in multiple ways.
The plot line itself is very interesting (for lack of better word), keeping you glued and not bored. Even though I haven't yet read the graphic novel, I'm fairly certain that it was pulled off better than The Order of the Phoenix.
However, I find it odd that only a few of the characters were given a decent back story. You can count them on your fingers; John, Eddy, and Rorschach. Yes, the movie was already long enough as it is (over 2 1/2 hours), but I still found myself wanting to know more about the other characters. Of all of them, Rorschach was my favorite, fallowed by Eddy. I liked them because they had the most character, and they were both bad-ass mother-fuckers. Also, they were acted the best.
Speaking of acting, I didn't find myself impressed by the overall performance. Most of the cast was mediocre, with two exceptions I already went over. Although, they weren't exactly horrible either. I must say though, Akerman and Crudup really know how to do a sex scene.
Another weird thing about Watchmen was the oddly timed music. I wanted to laugh at it when John was obliterating Vietnamese soldiers. The choice of song there was, might I say priceless. Sometimes this was working, but sometimes it wasn't. It was just strange. The whole movie was a little strange. Though, often times in a funny way. A lot of the humor was well placed around the drama.
The special effects, obviously important in a film like this, were great. At least they did a fine good job with that. There were some pretty tough things they had to accomplish, but the special effects team pulled it off perfectly.

Not much else for me to say, not without reading the graphic novel.
So lets rate this thing.
Watchmen: 3.5
A decent film to my eye, though not as good as I'd hoped. But it's worth some cash to go see.

_______________________________________________________
My FA page: [link]

Six hits with a hammer. I felt each one.
I have a new iPod now. An orange 8GB Nano. 4 times the space, for less money. The battery life is meh, but we're friends now.

2) Obama's Words of Poison
I have noticed that every time Obama speaks, the stock market plunges. And, acknowledging this, he said to ignore the dow industrial falling 200 points a day.
OK, I've just about enough of you, Mr. Obama.

3) Crazies
Riding your bike at night is the safest thing to do, especially on 84th Street between Chase Lake and Five Corners. When you ride as much as I do, eventually you're going to run in to someone a little crazy. When a person with a stick crosses the road in front of you and prepares to use that stick as a weapon against you, it's time to turn around and go the other way.
I could have been the victim of assault last Friday, or maybe worse. But I turned around instead. I was laughing about it the next day, however, that doesn't mean I wasn't a little bit concerned. I've since changed my bike rout.

4) R&R
I'm going away this weekend. I will be leaving with my Dad on Friday and not returning until late Sunday. Internet access is not guaranteed so I may be absent during the period. But I'll see if I can get some art done while I'm gone.
This is all assuming we find a hotel with vacancies, which for some reason is proving difficult. But we'll get there.

5) Watchmen
I will see this movie, and review it. I'll try to read the graphic novel as well. From what I hear, the novel is great and the movie should be pretty good. I will have high expectations.

That is all for this time kiddies. Watch for my review next week (hopefully next week), and much love to all of you. <3

_______________________________________________________
My FA page: [link]

Things are a little bit slower on FA, but most of my activity has not been there. However, I expect that to slowly change.

2) Spam
So as it turns out, the spamming DA account that, if you watch them, gives you some sort of virus... is a hoax. I couldn't help but laugh.

4) A Cold Winter
It snowed again here this morning. This would be the... 8th snow event of the season? Temperatures have been up and down, from record lows to record highs. Mostly on the lower end.
We may also have a minor drought in our region if we don't keep up the precipitation.

5) Personally
I'm doing ok. I'm kinda bored.
This week's featured deviant:
_________________________________________________________

Though I fall and fall and fall, I keep moving. It's like learning to walk; you fall on your face a lot, but eventually you figure out to put your arms out in front of you.

1. Deception among the clan.
Information is very important. Especially among friends. At least the big things. For example; if you're going to Hawaii for 2 weeks, it would probably be a good idea to let one of your friends know so they can spread the word. If you're coming home to visit from college, or you have information that a friend is coming to visit from college, it would be delightful if you shared that information (unless you want it to be a secrete in which case you better not let it slip out to someone who might be offended).

2. A bug in the system
I am unable to see some deviations without downloading them. Not even a preview. just that silly DeviantArt symbol. Now I can't download everything in my inbox, so there have been a few pics I had to simply ignore and move on the next one I could see. This is irritating and I'm wondering if any of you have some kind of idea as to why this is happening or how it can be solved. If you don't, then don't worry about it. It's not a crisis.

3. Happy bike is happy
In some good news, my bike is healthy again after going through extensive surgery. He now has a new look and a feel like he was brand new. And he wasn't old to begin with.

4. iPod
My 2GB iPod Nano is done. I am now in need of a new one. I do not have the money to get a new one unfortunately, so I will make an attempt to gather up some cash soon. I'll do some odd jobs if I must.

5. Mood Tracker
Quite. After this week, strangely I feel ok. There were a few thorns in the last 7 days but they're not as painful now. Am I becoming... numb?
Probably not a good thing.
And yet, I'm doing fair. That's a good thing I think. Still, some things on my mind.

Well that's about all. One final note though, my first movie review of 2009 will be on Watchmen. Take care all! I'll be around.

_______________________________________________________
My FA page: [link]

Seriously, Modern Warfare was good. Did you really need to go back to WW2? And so quickly at that?

3) Spam saps
The DA spam virus continues to create destruction and chaos throughout the site, because people are retarded and not paying attention. Like, the image itself will not load but the rest of the page will.
Solutions anyone?
[end edit]

This week's update as fallows:

1."Rise to this moment"
President Obama said that to the senate as they continue to debate on the economic stimulus bill. [link]
Reading the article, I found that the President reminded me of the Prophet of Truth from Halo. "Rise, my brothers, to this moment. Our enemy crowds around us, seeking to blacken our path to the great journey. The time for action, has come!" (substitute "enemy" with "capitalism", and "great journey" with "socialist monarchy")

2. Halo
Speaking of Halo, the Halo Wars demo is out! I haven't played it yet, but I'm gonna.
In the mean time I borrowed Halo and Halo 2 from and replayed the stories on each one. I now have a very large understanding of the plot.
...yeah.
I also played some halo 2 live. that was fun.

3. Virus
1 virus, 2 virus... DA has had an onslaught of spam viruses lately. Take care, friends, with this phrase and hyperlink: "Hey. I think i saw your picture on this website/blog here CLICK HERE"
Don't be a stink, don't click the link.

4. And our mystery character is...
I plan on cranking out a complete list of characters in ROFL within the next week, in which the mystery character will finally be revealed.
ROFL official release date: Delayed and Undecided

That's all for now.
What?
_________________________________________________________

Hello all. Let's get straight to business.

1) Ban Whores?
A lot of people are whining about DA and it's administration. Submissions being removed for no reason and bans. Lots of bans, also for no great reason. I'm kind of tired of hearing about it. Don't violate the rules and you're probably going to be fine. And keep this in mind as well, "better to be safe, than sorry." Unless you don't care of course.

2) Fallout
Last weekend I purchased Fallout 3. And as if they were waiting for me to buy it, they came out with "Operation Anchorage" days later.
So far I like the game. You can pretty much do whatever you want, which I like. ^^ Doesn't beat Halo 3 though.

3) ROFL Delay?
I've considered revising the release date of ROFL, currently set at 2/10/2009. I hate to delay it again, especially since it's actually highly anticipated but some people. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected lack of motivation and sudden depression, I'm being slowed down. For now, it stays the same, but I would like a 10-day grace period. So, sometime between the 10th and the 20th of February.
I am planning to post the first 3 pages of the comic at the same time, which might require more time as well.

4) The Language of Your Friends
The way my friends speak to eachother and me, it's so confusing. I often think they insult me, when that is not the case apparently, according to them. It's like Spanish class all over again. (NOTE: this has to do with my RL friends, not my online friends)
I am so oversensitive. Be fragile with me, people!

5) Subscription
I have magically obtained a subscription to DA, thanks once again to Pichu912.

That is all for now. If you have a question or concern, ask it LOL.
I will be writing end-of-the-week journals like this one on either Thursdays, or Fridays. I would also like to ask that readers take this journal more seriously than the other short spam ones that I do, thought I try to limit those.
Thanks for reading, have a good weekend!

_______________________________________________________
My FA page: [link]
I'll do more with this later @_@

Here be the update.

1) Mother fcker....
I will no longer post Random Youtube journals or link any of the sort in my journals. The only reason for this being; I do not want to get banned. The devious people running this site updated their user policy [link] which is ridiculous if you read it. Unfortunately, I do not make the decisions. This was brought to my attention by the lovely =monkeycat52

2) Another new look
DA decided to get cute and plaster this new layout on the non subscribers. Those with a subscription got to test it out first, whether they wanted to or not. Apparently, it was well liked by most subscribers so now everyone gets it. DA seems proud of the new look, despite many comparing it to Facebook. Reading the comments on the official announcement I saw a mixed bag of reactions, leaning toward more positive than negative. Probably not as well received as DA was hoping for but we'll get used to it.

3) ROFL
Drawing practice continues for the new comic "ROFL" and script writing is about to begin. The official release date for page 1 is currently set at February 10th. I have decided to make an official release of a few of the main characters who will take part.

-Brett
-Don
-Bob Fett
-Big Bob (yes, he is return)
-Bluedo
-Uuklay
-Bomb Kirby

Most of those were probably already known to be in the comic, but now it's official. There are a few others, most of them minor characters with little or no importance, but one more main character yet to be released. A complete character list will be submitted shortly before the comic comes out.
It is also important to note this comic is suggested to an audience of 13+ due mostly to language, violence, suggestive dialogue and graphic nature.

That's all I have for you, thank you for reading.
~The Jack-Mo/TurkeyPipes

"Holy God, the entire town flooded!"
"Well that's what happens when it rains a lot and then everyone is completely retarded about it."

We've had a lot of rain recently, on top of tons of snow, so there's been some flooding here. Not in Jack-Mo-City (my house and surrounding area) thankfully, but some places got it pretty bad.

Today, I went up to Bellingham to help my sister move. She had to rent a UHaul truck to carry all her furniture. Watching her drive a 9 foot automatic transmission truck was priceless. We couldn't figure out how to disable the brake. She was really nervous, freaking out every time she had to turn. I offered to drive, but she got the hang of it.

Coming home, my mother bypassed McDonald's and went to Burger King instead. They weren't very busy, looked like it had been a slow day, but somehow they ran out of large fry containers. So I got two small fries instead. My mom got a meal, which comes with a small fry. They didn't give us all three fries. So we had to tell them to give us the last fry. I don't like Burger King. Their fries aren't even that good. Neither are their milk shakes. But it satisfied my hunger enough to continue home.

When we finally arrived back home, I checked my cell phone for missed calls (I had left my phone behind on accident), and found someone had called me. It was a local number but I did not recognize it. So, after some deliberation, I called this person back. I got their voice mail, which was a voice attempting to speak English but not succeeding. Maybe they'll call me back.

I seem to feel like writing. I have a few more skills in writing then in other forms of artistic expression. I wasn't sure what to write down, so I thought I would just write whatever came to mind. That turned out to be how my day went I see. At least for the most part.

I feel strange. I cannot bring myself to talk to the person I need to talk to. I tried, but chickened out and signed out of MSN before he could do anything to stop me. I'll try again soon.

No English tomorrow, just math. I get to sleep in then. Nice. I could use it. I do not sleep well anymore.

I knew it was Clint Eastwood, but oh how little did I know. It's hard to write this review having only seen it once, and it's one of those films you have to see twice to fully wrap you mind around it.
So, we have an aging Korean War vet who just lost his wife. Enter the Asians next door. Kind of awkward.
The plot is hysterical, but sad, and what surprised me; powerful. Part of that had to do with the character development. All the characters were portrayed in extremes, and at least for the major characters, during the course of the movie they all came together and blended. Quite unexpectedly.
There were a lot of unexpected things that happened which kept the plot from being too predictable, and that is always a good thing. I like being surprised and this movie satisfied that.
The acting was for most part, outstanding. The actors really gave the emotion that this film needed, especially Clint. The nearly flawless acting of the cast makes this a very believable story. I might also say that the whole thing was bad-ass.
One of the few (and I mean few) problems with the film was the actors who played the gang picking on Thou. The older cousin in particular. I didn't quite buy their performance and portrayal of their characters. They weren't bad, they just look that way compared to Clint Eastwood.

Overall, a beautifully executed film and probably a classic. I enjoyed every moment of it and is definitely one of the best movies of the year.

4.5
I believe that is the highest rating I've given since "The Dark Knight" back in July. Impressive.
See this movie.

This movie kind of made me wonder what would happen if every major religion were disproved in one day.

Rating Key:
0- so horrid I couldn't watch the whole thing.
.5- a complete catastrophe, or epic fail.
1- an embarrassment.
1.5- very bad, or terrible.
2- bad.
2.5- mediocre, or "meh".
3- OK.
3.5- good, or decent.
4- very good, or great.
4.5- superior, or very awesome.
5- Perfect, not a single flaw.

Alright, so I finally get to review it! Let's get to it.

I can't say much for the beginning. It just made it so you could understand things later (or one thing anyway). The first part of the movie was decent. It was interesting and a little subtle. But once Keanu Reeves starts the destruction of the human race, the script writing gets bad.
He (the alien) didn't actually talk to any world leaders, just a spokes person and a bunch of scientists. The president was a coward apparently and hid in a bunker somewhere. So, except for the Pope, every world leader disappeared when the aliens came.
In fact, late in the movie, everyone disappears. Where are all the people? Some left the cities voluntarily, but not every single person, not is short time period. That was a little unrealistic.
Grated, it's Sci-Fi movie, but still my point stands.
Of course, we have the very typical and overused plot trait of the US government being completely retarded as a part of this movie as well.
And then, the ending. It just, kind of ended. Nothing spectacular. Very underdone. It needed a lot more.
Acting: not great, but not horrible either. It was believable in the majority. The little kid Jacob was alright, especially at the graveyard. But some of the less important characters and extras were really bad, although part of the problem was script writing.
The special effects were pretty good though, no real problems there. I just wish it didn't look so CG obvious. That's been a problem with some of the films I've seen lately.
Another good thing about this movie is that it kept the action going. It wasn't boring.

Overall, I was a bit disappointed with "The Day the Earth Stood Still". It was OK.

It earns the big 3 from me.
