hows everyone doin?

im fine, just fine.

got another marine corps function coming up. the marine corp's birthday is Nov. 10, 1775, so its only expected that it celebrate its birthday with a Marine Corps. Birthday Ball, which seems to be what we will be going to for our function.

what i seem to not be able to get out of my sergeant is what exactly is going on at the ball. mainly, why the hell are we going there at 11am for a few hours, all dressed up in a dress shirt and tie, if its going to be a mock marine ball?!

i mean, why the hell are you going to have a dance or whatever during the middle of the day?! this is what confuses that hell outa me... my sergeant needs to get off the whole vagueness thing.

in other news! xbox died. yeah...it got the red ring of death a week ago. joy...just when all these good games like Deadspace, Fallout 3 and Gears of War 2 are coming out. just my luck...

and lastly, im trying to work out balancing work/school/military. specifically, our new student housing director is telling me that the last day of class is December 12th, a friday. and since im not coming back next quarter, i need to be out by the 13th or they start charging me 50 bucks a day. not worth staying. however, by my own calculation, the 12th is the last day of the 10th week out of an 11 week quarter. see, technically our quarter lasts 10 weeks, but we have an 11th week to make up any classes missed because of weather or holidays. so what the fuck? i know im going to have classes during the 11th week, so why the hell would they be tellin me i have to be out by the end of the 10th? im going to go clear that up after class today.

also, in conjunction with the above, i will have like exactly 30 days before i ship off, and im trying to figure out what to do. id like to work, and continue working at barnes n noble cuz i like the store and the money and i know theyll need my help during the holidays. but, if im not living down here anymore, i cant possibly work there. i think im going to try and get a job at UPS just to give them some seasonal help, and because theres a UPS store about the same distance from my moms house as the distance from my apartment to barnes n noble. easily within walking distance.

so, thats whuts up. =]

is begining to get interesting. to sum things up, i got all Cs in my classes. eh. ok, i guess =/ but i did pass!

so since then ive just been workin full time and enjoying the benefits of an 8 hour shift. haha X]

but! the marine recruiter called me up friday and i set up a meeting with him for 10am this mornin. the meeting which i just got back from a little while ago.

so, heres how it goes:

because im about to be a junior in college, im actually ineligible for the Platoon Leader's Class (PLC) program that i thought i was gonna go into. what theyre gonna have me do is actually go to Boot Camp on some kinda split program (still not 100% sure on whats so 'split' about it). all i know is that split program gets me outa boot 2 weeks earlier. woot.

anyways, once outa boot, ill technically be an undeployable, enlisted marine in the reserves thats undergoing officer training. and, ill probably be at the rank of Private First Class (E-2, out of 9 enlisted ranks) BUT! ill be receiving the pay grade of a Sergeant (E-5). awesome. as an 'enlisted reservist' marine, i would be required to do one weekend a month of service. usually guard duty or some other bull. and i would continue to be an enlisted marine until i went to Officer Candidates School (OCS), which is the exact same thing as PLC, just one summer insteada 2, and its 10 weeks long insteada 6.

after which, id probably have antoher 2 quarters to go (would be my guess) in school and once i graduated, id receive my commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. i think its kinda exciting to think that if i make it, ill probably be the only one of my graduating class to be in a dress blues uniform at graduation. officer sabre n all X]

then (and i dont know how long after graduation this would be) id be off to The Basic School (TBS) where its another 6 months of drilling, classes, technical stuff and the like. fun. afterwards is my Military Occupational Specialty School (MOS) or job school. for flight training, i do believe its up to a year of training.

so anyways, the recruiter dropped me off at home and i called up my ma cuz the dude wanted to see my school transcripts, social security card, high school diploma and birth certificate. and i wsa talkin to her on the phone and i could tell she was startin to get pissed or something. so i called her again when i got into my apartment and she was cryin on the other end =[

i felt pretty bad cuz i know she doesnt want me to go and shes hopping i change my mind. but now that it looks like things are fitting into place, im really startin to look forward to it now.

the only last thing to take care of now is the physical and the battery test. ive already filled out forms for releasing personal medical, police and other such files. then i need to decide a ship off date. basically, they have ship off dates like for one day outa every week outa every month. so i can pretty much choose whenever. which brings the dilemma of do i wait the one year til next summer or do i choose to ship out in the fall? both have pros and cons. see...

summer of '09: i go in, i come out (hopefully in one piece), and i go back to school (by getting the marines to pay for school. big plus) for the next year and then i go to OCS and then i graduate a couple quarters later. simple.

fall of '08: i go in, i come out, i go back to school AND i get the marines to start paying for school sooner. but, then i would assume i go to OCS for the summer of '09 and then what? wait around to graduate for more than a year? =/

ok, so lots to update on and the more i procrastinate the more i have to update X]

so! THE WEDDING!!!! WOOHOO!!!!

it was AWESOME!!! ...cept for the whole 'its an outdoor wedding and its 95 degrees out'

o.O

wait, whut? oh yea, thats right. AND im in a tux.

no bueno...

luckily, it was only about 20 mins. lol, one of my moms friends came up on her cue to read a poem about love and we're all like 'READ FASTER!' *dies* and all the groomsmen (me included) had tissues and papertowels in their pockets to get the sweat outa their eyes X]

but once everything was all said n done, we all went in for the reception, which was nice and ACed. yay!! that lasted from 2-6pm, there i got to chill at the table my ma reserved for me and my buds, which was great. and we danced when a good song we all knew came on by the DJ we hired. and mike's (moms husband) son chris made a speech at the beginning of the reception that was really good (lol, he later admited to the rest of the groomsmen as we were all undressin outa our tuxes that he found the speech on the 'net. haha, cheeky bastard, but its kinda expected X]). they hired a comedian to come in and perform as well. he was...okay, for the most part. admittedly, i think its kidna hard to come in and do material to a mixed crowd that you dont know. so there were several topics he couldnt touch on with kids in the room n such. but the main kicker was that he made a joke about how his agent told him it was gonna be a very diverse group, but then he sees that its mainly white people. lol? eh, not so much, not when two good friends of mine, ryan and andrea are black and sitting at the table with me. admittedly though, he did have a point...they probably represented about half the black population there X]

so then i got up before ma and mike cut the cake to do a toast. um...yea, the beginning went something like this: 'ay attention kids, this is called Improv-ing a Wedding Speech 101', cuz i did have an idea on what i was gonna say...i just hadnt practiced all that much X]i guess it helped that i took a public speaking class last quarter. but the only difference is that i would have my speech a little bit better prepared and i was usually talkin to about 20 people...not 200+ X]

but either way! i studdered a little bit here and there and i was kinda shakin (lol, i had a class of champagne in my hand that when i went to raise it i was shakin so bad that i spilled it over the side a little bit X]) but people in the audience laughed when they were supposed to and everyone clapped in the end. so i would say it was a job well done =]

at 6 we all left and went across the street to the Holiday Inn where the After Party was. eh, i didnt stay too long, only a couple hours. mainly cuz all my buds had to leave and i didnt feel like stayin around and watchin mom and mikes friends get drunk off their asses. so i just went home with my buddy zak and we spent the night playin Ratchet & Clank.

in other news, i did take the whole week off from work before the wedding to finish up finals. i did the Game Design & Gameplay final that was pretty easy and uploaded that here. only problem i ran into with that was that i did the three images of Mr. Freeze n all, then saved the small ass .jpeg files to upload here and then saved the HUGE photoshop files for later use. go figure, my computer fucks up on that last part and all im stuck with are the jpeg files (of course, because of my procrastinatin ass, this is all last minute). so i had to blow up the jpeg files and they look all blurry n shite. i was not happy, but whatcha gonna do? eh, i passed the class with a C, ill live. was a BS class anyways =/

ok, first things first. i got my original laptop back! my grandfather on my dad's side lives down in Louisiana has started a home-based pc repair business. im not 100% sure, but i think hes the guy that orginally built the laptop. anyways! with all the damage i had done to it, its remarkable what he's done; its in perfect working order and i couldnt have been happier! =]

and ive passed all my classes, 'cept for the class i dropped, but were not counting that X] i got an A- in Public Speaking and a B in Sculpture for Animators. WOOT!!!!

aiight, and now the car...basically, two weeks ago i was hangin out with my buddy rob and the car broke down (somewhat) while we were drivin around. it would stall out and i couldnt get it to go above 20mph. so i had to leave it at his house back in maryland and took the metro home.

since then, ive been walking to work. i would drive before cuz i was lazy and didnt wanna take the 20 mins to walk the 5 blocks. so i finally got around to getting it towed to a garage that Papa Auto Parts works with. diagnostics and estimates later...we guess itll be around 750 to fix it. which is HELLA less than it coulda been if my old boss didnt offer to hook me up with parts. basically, i needed the wires (part of the electrical system), spark plugs, oxygen sensors and cadalic converter all replaced. the converter alone is DAMN 'spensive...so right there i was jsut kinda liek...joy....

so for a 600-800 dollar pipe (basically) i could get at around 150 thanks to my old boss. anyways, ma and i decided that neither of us had the money and if i sold the car, it would save me at least 150 bucks a month. 'sides, all i do is drive it home and to work, else i take the metro so no big loss there.

i took the car to Carmax and they offered me 500 bucks for it. i was hoping for (at least) 750, but whatever...i dont care any more...

else...um...started playing EVE Online again, rob and i are planning on starting our own Corporation (aka - guild). so right now we've only been playing for a day or so and are gettin pretty good at it. i'd recommend you check it out. theyve got a 14 day trial thats nice n easy to access.

(religious discussion! warning!) personally, i grew up Christian Moravian. Moravian is just another sect of Christianity (like Lutheranism, Baptism, etc). specifically, Moravians came from Moravia which was a region in the (now) Czech Republic. most of them immigrated to the US, specifically North Carolina due to world wars and other things like that. anyways! even though i grew up with this teaching, i more or less reject religion. why? mainly because more human lives have been lost in the name of god than any war, any disease or any murders combined. over the centuries, countless tribes, cities and villages, ethnic groups and people of different faiths have been slaughtered because (supposedly) some big man in the sky deemed in necessary. among other things, this is why i dissociate myself from religion, but not from god. i still believe that there is something more powerful than me. i mean...how else could a world this beautiful be created, yknow?

anyways, i say that because i do believe in the core beliefs of every religion: to better one self. through educational, social, financial and whatever other means, just to make yourself a better person is a great belief that everyone should practice.

this thought has been on my mind a little bit as of late: when will i graduate. its unfortunate, but my school is notorious for changing the classes in majors. so people think theyre just one or two classes away from graduating and then they get another set of classes sprung on them outa the blue; ive heard this from a couple different people. i myself, in my first quarter, they took a class out of my program that i had signed up for. so there i am in class wonderin why im not on the prof's roster. oh, go figure, they took the class out of my program and then put me in an english 101 class that i didnt need, and no body told me!

anyways, looking at my degree audit (a big piece of paper that tells me what i still gotta take), i have 33 classes still to take (give or take). breaking that down, a full time student is 12 credits so i usually take 3 classes a quarter (4 credits per class). meaning at this rate, itll take me 11 quarters, or 2.75 years to finish school.

the problem i have with this is that, while yes, im technically a sophmore, i feel like i should be further along in my sophmore year than i am. i mean, i started college (in general) back in the fall of 2006, and here it is almost a year and a half later and...damnit, i just want to get done with school. college is fun, but im ready and i want to go into the marines. hahaha...im ready...im ready mentally, not physically.

rented Kengo: Legend of the 9 for the xbox 360 the other day. was bored and spending 5 bucks is way more cost-effective for me than spending $60 at gamestop. take it home, pop it in...and i cant even get past the first level. o...m....g....controls werent explained and the first boss is all like 'you wanna beat me?' then *BAM*!!! one hit kill with no continue option, so you gotta do the whole level over again. yea...screw that. so i took it back the next day and was able to trade it for Kane & Lynch: Dead Man. much better choice. f-bombs aplenty! yaaaay!!

uhh...oh!!! since ive decided to go into the marine officer program, i have about a year and a half til i go in, ive been sort of catchin up. see, i dont really pay attention to whats goin on (unless its Obama X]); i dont like listening to Bush speak cuz just hearing his studdering voice makes me want to rip my ears off; and i havent been paying attention to the war either because i dont support it (but i do support the troops, of course). so perfect example: the Battle of Fallujah, one of the most important battles for control of Baghdad but i dont know what happened there or why it was so important. so for this reason, i have a list of books i plan on reading, specifically on Marine history, Marine Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) and other current affairs stuff. so in no particular order:

-Shooter (the autobiography of the top marine sniper)

-Counter-Insurgency Field Manual for Marines/Army
-Hogs in the Shadows (book on marine scout/snipers)

-Blackwater (about Blackwater, a civilian security force based in North Carolina that has lots of governmant military contracts and a strong presence in Iraq)

-Ghost Wars (talks about the rise and fall of the taliban, bin Laden, etc)
now, it should be noted that i talked with a co-worker of mine who was a marine officer (i dont know what rank) in vietnam. i told him i was going for a commission and if he recommended any books to read. he recommened:
-Fields of Fire (vietnam story about 3 men in a platoon of marines)
-Rumor of War (classic vietnam memoir)
-Koran (it came to my realization that radical islam, or islamofascism, has become more of an enemy toward the US for about the past 20 years or so. but i know very little about islam. so to remedy this, i thought to read the muslim holy book, the Koran. but its probably like 1500 pages or somethin rediculus like that, so ill prolly read somethin like The Koran for Dummies)
-Tora (the Jewish holy book. similar to what i said about the Koran, cept about the enemy part)
-World War IV (this one caught my eye cuz Einstein once said 'i know not what weapons World War III will be fought with. But i know World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.'
-No True Glory (story of the Battle of Felluja)
-Marines Illustrated History
-The 9/11 Commission Report: A Graphic Adaptation (former artists from DC and Marvel Comics came together and transitioned the 9/11 Commission Report into a graphic novel. makes it easier to read for people like me who dont wanna read through over 700 pages of political bull)
-Officer Candidates Test Prep (study guide for each military branch, including marines)
-One of Us: Officers of Marines (marine traning, traditions and values)

sorry if i sounded kinda dead on the phone earlier today, i have a lot i gotta do. last week was midterms and even though i didnt really have any exams, i did have a plot of homework and projects due, mainly in my Sculpture for Animators class. last week i slept maybe 10 hours over a three day period. cuz, sunday night i stayed up all night finishing sculpture homework then went to class at 11 and got home by 4. for whatever reason i stayed up and didnt go to bed until about midnight. got up around 9am tuesday morning and went to sleep at 6am that night, again, doing sculpture homework. woke up at about 9:30 and went to class. was there all day and didnt get home until about 10pm. then i had a 7am-3:30pm shift at work on thursday. and then a 3:30-close shift on friday. so yea...last week was almost no sleep week for me...cept i went to bed again at around 6am last night, woke up at 9:30 and went to class. again, got out at 4 and then i had a 5-close shift at work, so i had to go home, drop off my stuff, eat somethin and go to work. you called me during that brief moment between work and school so thats why i was a little dead sounding.

it wasnt all so bad though, i dont feel overburdened or anything. and lack of sleep isnt so bad, especially since i dont have huge amounts of caffeine in my system. one you hit that exhaustion/tired period of the day, if you can pull through it for an hour or so and take some ib prophen for the on coming headache, youre good to go! =]

so please, no worries. i figure its good to get used to this sorta thing for when i ship out for the marines--theyre gonna be poundin my ass and i wont have the luxury to think about how tired i am, i just gotta get the job done =]

anyways! i can already see that worried frown on your face. please, please, im ok. that weeks over and i have no intention of repeating it. anyways, im pretty sure my grades right now are looking somethin like Sculpture C (soon to be higher, come wednesday, promise!), Public Speaking A, Geometry B. honestly, sculptures my biggest focus and i can honestly see myself having to take geometry again. its too late to drop the class and im doing everything iin my power to ensure that i pass the class, but i still have 4 weeks left in the quarter and plenty can happen in that time period. its simply that sculpture, for all the work and time ive put into it, i *have* to pass it my first time aorund, no matter what. and if i have to relief some of my focus from a class like geometry--a gen. ed. class that im not worried about, then by all means i will. im sure you done approve of that idea, but i at least hope you understand where im coming from. we can talk about it further tomorrow if youd like.

and finally, speaking of tomorrow...im gonna wake up around 9-10ish, run down to the voting place thats only a block down the street and drop my vote for Obama in. then im gonna meet up with rob near Andrew's AFB around noon and work out n run for about an hour. he told me to being shorts, a hoodie and water, so i tihnk we'll be working on a lot of cardio.

tuesday night, went to sleep at 6am, woke up at 9:30am. went to class at 11 again. had class all day til almost 10pm. passed out as soon as i got home. felt bad about it cuz i walked into my room and my roommate is rockin out with a friend of ours and im like, 'i dont wanna be a dick. but i gotta get up early cuz i have a 7am shift at work'

surprisingly, 7am-3:30pm went by pretty quick!

but now i have a 3:30 to close shift.

so, i tried to stir up a little controversy yesterday/today. yesterday we had a 4-person birthday party. by that, i mean we celebrated 4 peoples birthdays all at once because they are either on the same date or close to. basically, my grandfather turned 60, family friend's son turned 5, grandparents neighbor (whom i dont really know) turned...whatever age she turned, and then antoher family friend turned 15.

but! i stirred up some controversy because only a couple minutes into the festivities, i made my little announcement to my grandparents that i plan on going into my marines next summer.

cue awkward silence. oh and even better! my grandmother has this bad habit of doing this disapproving smile. i know she tries supportive of whatever her children and grandchildren do, but that doesnt mean she approves of it either. which causes a disapproving smile...which has lately been pissin me off. cuz if youre gonna be supportive then be supportive! either you agree or you disagree. by being supportive and disagreeing, doesnt that somehow cancel it all out? just a thought...

so there was that, and then last night at like 5am i left a note on my facebook sayin i was goin into the marines. the note before said the same thing, but was about 3 pages longer cuz i just had other general life updates in there. this time, i gots straight to the point and a lot more people commented back, which is what i wanted in the beginning.

i was scrolling through her main page on dA and it was just comment after comment of bashing and insulting on part of the fans. honestly, serves her right and she should have seen it coming. but this one dude caught me off guard cuz heres everyone with like a paragraph or two explaining how shes wrong and what she can do to correct it (not exactly in that mild-manner or nice sounding, but you get the idea). then you get the one dude that had nuthin to say and so hes just like OWNED!!!

jsut a couple updates so i can procastinate further on hw

saw Cloverfield on saturday. not bad...not bad...though a warning: dont sit too close to the screen...cuz shaky camera can equal headaches/dizziness in some people

also, earlier today we mourn the death of Heath Ledger, who plays the Joker in his summer's blockbuster release of The Dark Knight. at first, the death was thought to be an apparent suicide, since pills were found around his body and because of the separation from his wife. then, after the police contacted his family, they told authorities that he was sick with pneumonia. but an autopsy has yet to take place.

schools still going well, the next assignment for Sculpture class is to take an action figure and model them. but then we have to do sometihng with the character to change their 'character appearance'. examples include Captain Planet being a heroin addict. The Penguin (from batman) being an overweight wrestler...flippers n all. i got Predator...so im going to make him into a cripple!

i thought i might put him in a hospital gown with his 'spear' thingy acting as an IV rack and a crutch under his other arm. ill either do that or have him using a metal walker. X]

also, a little life update - ive finalized my decision to to into the marines as an officer. but not right now...i have the option of goin into to the Platoon Leader's Class (PLC) this summer which are two 6 week courses for college freshmen and sophmores. as a junior, its a combined 10 week course. or i can wait til im a college senior or graduate and go to Officer Candidates Class (OCC) however, my ma is gettin married on 6/7/08 and i wouldnt miss that for anything. anyways! if/when i complete any of these courses, though PLC is the most common one and the one i probably will go through next summer, once i graduate i will instantly become the lowest ranking Marine officer, which is a 2nd Lieutenant and then go into the Basic School (TBS)

if you havent noticed, the military likes acronyms... X]

anyways, once at TBS ill spend 6 months training and learning profesional skills needed to lead marines. according to the marine officer website, ill take classes that will include, but are not limited to: leadership, marksmanship, land navigation, communications, infantry tactics, weapons, drill, military law, logistics, personnel administration, and Marine Corps history. works for me =]

while there at TBS, i will submit my prefered choice of Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). i can chose between 3 general fields: land, air or law. land is the most diverse with the most career paths. air is mainly for pilots, since you *have* to be an officer to fly (same with the air force and navy i do believe) and law is simply that: law (but also includes public affairs and some desk jobs).

regardless of where i go, entry level MOS schools are 6-16 week courses. well laws outa the question cuz i dont want a desk/administration job, not yet. and airs out cuz you need 20/20 vision to fly, and i have (last i checked, 2 years ago) 20/40 vision. so, if i go the ground route, theyre are a couple areas that caught my interest. mainly, Infantry Officer, in which i would probably be in charge of a platoon or two of marines (a platoon is between 30 and 50 marines). and Tank Officer in which (according to the marines website) i would be in charge of a small platoon of 15 marines and 4 m1a1 tanks. i also had interest in Force Recon (think Navy SEALs for the Marines) and sniper school, but i didnt know if that was limited to enlisted personal only or what...

anyways! for now, all i need to do is train myself. i have over a year to prepare for the hardships of training. hopefully soon, ill be able to get together with my best buddy rob (who is an enlisted marine, a lance corporal in fact) and start training with him. he told me the marines just enacted a new rule that all personal have to have 17% or less body fat. he just needs to get some paper work taken care of and some decals put on his car and he n i can go to a local base and work out there.

speaking of rob! hes a reservist, but his unit has been called up for rotation sometime in 2009, and thats all he knows. so for now, all he can do is train his body and his trigger finger. im not worried about him though, hes a decent shot (X]) and hes trained to set up and maintain computers and networks. plus, hes attached to an airplane support unit. so its highly doubtful hell see any frontline action. if anything, it might be to set up a forward command post, but still...doubtful =]

works been a little bit of a bitch. not cuz its hard...but cuz our fiscal year ends at the end of january, so theyre scrambling to make sure theyre on target with their numbers. and right now, we're not. so theyve been cutting back hours and the like. so i got my smallest paycheck ever today X]

i dont mind the paycheck, only cuz i only worked that one day last week and got the day off to visit my dad. so i was expecting that. cept now, i cant get any shifts that i want T.T

so i just gotta watch my spendin for the next week or two =/

oh well, this is part of being a college student! just gotta bare with the highs and the lows

in other news...

finally got in contact with the Marine Recruiter. the Sergeant called me thursday night around 5:30 and i was already at work...but i still answered, big no-no X] so i told him i would call him back friday morning...cept i was asleep friday mornin cuz i didnt have to work until noon. so my phone's buzzing at 10am woke me up and i called them back. i assume the same sergeant answered. so i talked with him for about 20 minutes or so, he asked me a buncha questions like 'have you ever been hospitalized overnight,' 'have you ever been diagnosed with ADHD or taken medication for it?' etc... so once everything was done, he said theyd like to talk to me in person and i set up an appointment with them for 11am saturday morning.

so after all that, i hoped in the shower and go ready for work. went i got out, i saw i had a missed call. from whom? just the marines...again... so i figured dude had forgotten something, so i called him back and this time a Staff Sergeant answered. he tells me that the sergeant i just talked to and set up an appointment with was the enlisted recruiter, the staff sergeant i was now talking to was the officer recruiter. oooooh....youd think that little detail might be kinda important....

so i had to go through the whole questionnaire thing with him too, and then some. so then he told me i had to wait until the captain called me back. (oooh....the captain!) so right now it looks like i have an appointment with the officer recruiter on thursday at 10am. so now...somehow...i gotta be up n call teh enlisted recruiter and let him know i wont be coming....uhg...the life of trying to be a marine....

had a good day today. slept in til like 2pm. go some chores done real quic before i left the house and went back home. mah buddy rob wanted to go laser tagging. unfortuantely for us, the place near us has like tournament night or osmething like that...leagues i guess...every saturday night. place was packed. so we decided to go to the mall and see a movie instead.

'cept when we got there, we all just kinda were like...eh...we see a movie like every weekend...so we just hung out at the mall, walked around a little bit...did a little shopping. oh! i got some new earings from Hot Topic. im gonna try n re-pierce my ears tomorrow...well later today. hopefully these new earings will be hella easier to get in. might have kyle or dave do it for me, that way theyre like, "ok, ready? one...two....BAM!" i wont even know its comin X]

but! it should be noted that my philosophy on life is that 'tomorrow' means the time after i go to sleep. so yes, even though it is now 6:45, it wont be 'tomorrow' until after i wake up.

but! the first week of schools all said n done. and i tihnk this is gonna be a real good quarter. Sculpture for Animators is probably gonna be easy but with a lot of work involved (lets hope!). Public Speaking is gonna be a lotta fun cuz the prof. is awesome. and last is College Geometry. now, i havent done math in over two years, but 10th grade geometry was my best year in math ever. so im hopeful. professor is a little monotone though...and thats not cool. but ill live.

had the day off from work yesterday cuz our store manager was worried about hitting our planned numbers for the week and part of that is the number of work hours we have. the more man hours we have set for the week, the larger amount we have for plan. so she called up a couple of people an told em it was dead slow and they didnt need us. well ok, my wallet can take this one, but it was awesome cuz my dad was in town on business and it was a last minute thing and he wanted to see about gettin together for dinner or somethin. so with the day off i was able to do that.

ok, now see--heres the deal with my dad, for those of you that dont know, which is prolly most of yas. ma got pregnant at 18 an had me at 19. she was adopted and was raised in atlanta, georgia all those years. dad was 17 when he got her pregnant. it was prolly more of a one night stand than any real relationship. still, ma at least *knew* the guy. anyways, so she moves up to maryland and has me and yada yada.

dad stayed down in georgia. ma asked him if he wanted to be apart of the babys life--apart of my life. he told her he was too young to be a father. she told him she was too young to be a mother, but was still gonna try.

i didnt meet him until i was 8. i remember, i realized that almsot everyone i knew, all the kids i went to school and daycare with, they all had fathers. where was mine? the question was never asked until then. ma found him still down in georgia and i met him for the first time that summer.

hah, i probably sound like i have some animosity toward him and i dont think thats so. i still talk to him every now and then, and its good to hear he and his (now established) family is doing well. that is to say, his wife of 8 years and their two daughters--my half-sisters. wait a tic, does two half sisters make a whole? X]

i was thinkin about it earlier today. and i do love him, because hes my father and for his part, he tries to be as much of a father as he can be, despite the distance. but i tihnk i still have a little it of anger toward him. i was talking to a friend of mine earlier today. she has a step father whom i know loves her dearly. the man picks her up and drops her off for work every day on time. she rocked out with him in the garage, blastin ACDC on New Years Eve, right at the drop of the ball. he takes her to college visits and makes sure shes gonna get her (and his) moneys worth for her education.

i never had that. i never had a father figure to teach me about football and how to play and about the different teams. or how to work on your car or, fuck, i dont know? grill. so theres that...and when i stop and think about it, he said 'no'. and thats what makes me anger.

becuase!!!! FELLAS! LISTEN UP! if you ever get a girl pregnant, the best and most manly tihng you can do is stay by her and be a fucking man. it is one of my solemn beliefs that when raising a child, boy or girl, they need both parents there.

so yea...when i think about it, his stubbornness of being a 17 year old kid from georgia angers me. but i love him, because hes my father.

anyways, he was in town and i was able to get together with him for dinner with ma and my buddy rob. and im glad. last time i saw him was at my High School Graduation/Party. and that was almost 2 years ago! X]

gotta say ive changed since then. he was surprised when he saw my buzzed head and facial hair. when i dropped him back off at his hotel, he reminded me that even though hes not around a lot, hes still very proud of me.

theres my father...he aint a stupid 17 year old redneck no more. hes really a father.

on a completely different subject...

ma got me a pair of Mickey Mouse boxers for christmas cuz she was down in orlando recently for business. first day i wore em to work i told this one co-worker of mine. now every time she sees me she calls me Mr. Mickey. then just recently, this girl put up some new pics on her myspace sayin 'Hey Mr. Mickey...hey Mickey' in the description space.

as most of you dont know, she was my freshman pet when i was a senior and we have stayed friends over the years. so she had all her high school buds there, some i recognized. then i realized i was the oldest person there (save her mom) and once i let that little fact spill out, everyones like 'why are you hanging out with high school kids then? youre a sophmore in college!'

they have a point, but it was still funny...cuz its true X]

so i spent the night there and then me n her went n saw Sweeny Todd, good stuff! a warning though: its kinda bloody

anyways, im home now! and in about 10 hours, ill be in my first class for the new quarter.

today felt like New Years Day +1, cuz a shit load happened

firstly, i had the day off of work so i met up with my ma and sister and headed over to the insurance company. see, with two accidents and a speeding ticket on my record, the insurance company called up my ma and told her that if she wanted to continue to be with them, she had to drop me from her policy. joy...

so instead, we got me put on my own policy. however, since im now in virginia and moms in maryland, and my cars in virginia, they said i needed to get the car's title renewed in virginia. okidoky, no problem...

so after we finish at the insurance company we drive down the street to the DMV. parkings terrible. sister n i jump out and get a place in line. we get in the info line and discover, to our dismay, that if i wanna do the things i gotta do, i need either a birth certificate or passport. wtf? i's figure, if i already have a license from MD and i just want to transfer it to a VA lisence, shouldnt it be an easy process? guess not

so we meet up with ma a couple minutes later. whole time we were there? 10 minutes. whole time ma was there? maybe 3. total time for her car to get towed? 2

thats right, within that short time span of her parking the car, it was towed cuz she parked in the wrong space. to her defense, she parked in a vacant lot that had tow away signs on either end of the lot, not at the actual spaces. also the signs were pointed inward, viewable only when exiting. just as well, im sure thats their main source of income, towing people at the DMV...cuz they had one like every 10 minutes...assholes...

then ma almost had a breakdown in the (freezing cold) parking lot cuz of the car and we called them up n they said it would be a hundred bucks even to get the car back. then we also had to get a cab to travel the 3 miles down the road to get to the towing place. cue moms almost breakdown moment...and she gets pissed off at me for gettin a little agitated and sayin 'fuckin christ' once or twice...

almost wanted to say to her that it aint my fault you cant read a fuckin sign. but anyways, i offered to pay for the car and then they drove me to my apartment and they left for home.

but! not before emma managed to loose her cell phone in the taxi cab we rode over in.

so...very busy and hectic...and now im gonna work on another digital piece for work. one of my co-workers put somethin up in the break room sayin that he wanted everyone to try their hand at drawing this one picture and then he would put them up as a collection or somethin. so yea, im on it =]

I hope everyone had a great holiday and a soon-to-be happy new year! I had a pretty decent one, cept my car broke down the day after Christmas. I was taken it to my former job at the auto parts store and it kinda died on me on the way. I already knew there was something wrong with the tailpipe cuz one the way home I could hear it hittin the ground. Not good.

So when I got there they replaced the distributor cap (basically an essential part of the electrical system, and often times moisture can get in there, and we all know how water and electricity don’t mix). Then the boss sent me up the street to a garage so they could fix the tailpipe. Halfway there, the car dies again. Joy. Im able to start it back up again and make it there. But! Right before I make the turn into the garage, this truck behind me suddenly slows down and im lookin in my rear view mirror wonderin why. Then I see this little metal thing rolling underneath his wheels. Oh…that’s why….joy…

So basically, the exhaust system on my jetta is 3 pipes. The pipe that actually sticks out from the bottom (the muffler) had half rusted and rotted off. So half the pipe was still on the car and the other half is still somewhere on US Route 1 X]

but now the cars all nice and fixed and god....ohhh.....god....does it sound nice...

anyways!

Soooo, I just walked to work Thursday and Friday. And then because of a good friend and co-worker and her very nice father, I got a ride home both nights. Thursday night wasn’t that big of a deal, but Friday it was pourin down rain and the dude just looked at me and said, “you walking again?”

“Yes, sir. But if youre willing and able, I would greatly appreciate it.”
“hop in”

woot! Nice guy too. Staff Sergeant in the air force. Dry humor. Hell, by best bud rob is just the same so I think he n I will get along just fine.

On a different note…

Ma quit her job. I honestly don’t know why she waited so long. Shes been there, shit…I dunno? 11 years? And as far as I know shes been quitting for the past 5 years, maybe more. So she just finished her two weeks notice and has been sending her resume out. She doesn’t have a college degree, so that might limit her choices. But shes still relatively young—only 39—and shes got 20 years of work experience. I think shell be alright, but still moneys a little tight right now.

Laptops still out of commission but my grandfather gave me an older laptop with XP and a wireless card so im not as much out of touch with the world. I still gotta get all my music n pictures off the old harddrive. Im lookin into getting a desktop computer cuz that’s a little more bang for your buck me thinks. Plus I can continue to upgrade it easily enough.

Its halftime now, redskins are winnin 13 to 3.

I have my life goals all set out, thing is just makin em happen. I think ill list em now, just cuz its good to look at a list and be able to cross things off when ya can, yknow?

Go into the Game Industry
Travel Europe with Friends**
Go Into the Marine Corps. Officer School***
Go Back to School and Complete my Masters Degree of Fine Arts
Become an Art Professor

Eventually
Go into Politics and Run for President

Misc.
Get my own place, prolly an apartment
Buy a big screen HDTV with surround sound and the works to complete my home theater DVD experience
Move someplace where I can snowboard at almost anytime I want to
Buy a Shelby GT500 and listen to that baby purr
Start a firearms collection, just cuz I can
Add 30lbs of muscle to myself
Start a collection of action figures, particularly video game characters and the like
Learn piano
Learn the violin or cello
Learn guitar
Learn other languages, particularly sign language, german, Spanish and French
Start a collection of modern art****

Well, im only 19. life is my oyster right now. Bring it on
