I'm now the proud owner of all HL1 games, including team fortress classic. And man, were games harder back then.

-HL1 has little to no dialogue after the intro, it's merely "here is one huge linear labyrinth, go nuts." And the sheer number of OOPS you're dead traps are phenomenal
- TFC snipers have one-hit-kill bodyshots that take a mere few seconds to charge and the weapon fires like an SMG. With knockback.
- TFC spies lack a cloak, so being caught is pretty much a death sentence
- Rockets send you flying at the slightest contact
- Demomen are insanely more OP
- Grenades are cheap little whores that strive only to roll around a corner and fuck up your shit.

L4D2 expert realism is still the hardest game I've ever played, but TFC's like Megaman 2 meets Battletoads. Holy HELL, people.

But oh is it worth it. Spying is so much sweeter without all the frills and thrills of a cloak, damage reduction, distance backstab and decent gun. Well, I say sweeter...

(Also if you're reading this, ian, get your fat ass on steam some time. not enough L4D2 has been played

I didn't think the next writing one would be so soon, but *crystal-rex is hosting an upcoming one rather shortly. And, since I have a murderous cyborg running around not being used ([link]), then I suppose I'll be auditioning. Maybe I can get to round 3 this time!

In other news: Oh god A2. Hard work is hard, and Biology right now is duller than ever before. Oh look, ATP does this and that and glucose breaks down and enters a mitochondria and does more stuff and OH DEAR. Not to mention building pressure on the homefront, and the world's worst ISP continuing to give me random pingspikes. And I can't get cable. Raaaage.

On the plus side, I'm going to MCM this October as a RED Spy. Should be seven shades of awesome.

Update: On second thoughts, I think AV is the perfect time to give Maggy some more love. As for his support character?
Eventful past few days. Gather round, and I shall tell you a tale.

On Thursday, we all drove down to this port city on the northern coast. We did some random browsing, buying trinkets for souveniers, sampling local cuisine, the usual. Then i happened across a curiousity shop, and there I fell in love with one particularly beautiful little Balisong (or Butterfly Knife, if you'd prefer). Being a huge Spy fan, I thought how I must have it, and walked away five minutes later grinning from ear to ear.

Over the enxt few days, we went everywhere together, and you could find me fiddling with it whenever I got bored and wasn't in a public place. I learned all the tricks I'd seen before, even that really hard one in Meet the Spy.

And, less than 10 minutes ago, we were torn apart. Apparently there's a huge difference between Balisongs and Switchblades. One is a perfectly acceptable souvenier and definitely not a weapon. As for a Butterfly Knife, well, my suitcase was rejected, rifled through to find the offending object, and threatened with a criminal record. Fortunately, being 17 saved me from being arrested for being in possession of a "dangerous weapon." All because my knife's handle can flip TWO ways instead of one.

Other than that, Crete has been great fun. Great sights, fantastic cuisine and a relaxing week. BUT DAMNIT I LOVED THAT KNIFE. Goddamn OTT Security. I don't blame THEM, though, just the asshats that made security GET this tight. You freaking shanking druggies and thugs, making me give up Erin 2 because you couldn't deal with your problems non-violently.

Sadness~

Though I can only do 2 hour sessions at most, and probably at about 4PM GMT. So no need to feel deprived, fellows.

EDIT: Oh, and I finally finished Erin's birthday present. Here it is, love~ [link]

Well, I'm going to Greece for a week (Crete, to be more precise) to enjoy fine dining, siestas and the minotaur's cave.

Unfortunately, while my hotel DOES have wifi, it costs roughly £5 per hour to use. So if I'm ever online next week (which I probably will be, to find out the EX results), expect it to be brief. I'm sure there will be free wifi SOMEWHERE out there, so I might pop online every now and again.

I got my A level results back, BTW. Two A's and two B's, but in the wrong subject. I'm doing Biomedical Sciences at Univeristy, but I got the Bs in Biology and Chemistry. So yeah, not good.

On the plus side, driving is fantastic. I'm five lessons in and already zooming about the roads. However, my car is prone to stalling, and the key often jams in the ignition, leaving me stuck in the middle of a busy road. Fun fun fun.

See you all next time~

Although it took two hours just to get there, it was pretty damn awesome.

The campus is fantastic, the city is wonderful and the Biomedical Sciences department is amazing. Not to sound egotistical or whatever, but everyone who read it said they loved it and we were pretty confident in it too.

Then the results rolled round and turns out we didn't make it. "Fair enough," I thought. "I mean, it's just an OCT, surely they just want better entries on the wh-"

Then I saw that entries such as THIS made it in. [EDIT: Okay, yeah, shouldn't be naming names]

Silly me, I thought it was an OCT, a competition of writing, art and general ability to create a story. Not "ooh, this art is pretty, it should win." Come now, I know that [the guy] is a very talented artist with a great art style, but his writing is worse than Stephanie Myer's. Something very hard to do. And it was deemed good enough to be in the final 64.

To be quite frank, if entries such as that are considered to be the benchmark of quality, then I'm rather glad that we DIDN'T get in.

~~~
Right then, drama over? Good. Time for miscellaneous news.
- School ends this friday, hooray.
- The Exchange's first round has come and practically gone, look to the left for my entry
- Got to see my cousin's daughter yesterday. How fun!
This time, it's AS levels, which make up a half of my entire A level and plays one of the biggest factors in deciding if I get into university or not. I can get all Bs without trying, but being in my family, I need to score over 90%. Because mother's a perfectionist and my dear brother did just that.
So what do these delightful exams entail? Well, my English literature exam consists of two one-hour essays (not to mention closed-book), both halves of my Biology and Chemistry exams are on the same. Bloody. Day. (i.e. I need to learn an entire year's work for one day) and my physics paper is split across two weeks, which is the only one that sounds remotely do-able.
Ain't life a bitch?
Well, time for the obligatory OCT updates.
~OCT Status~
Well, although I'm no longer a contestant, my current "favourite person ever," =Haikera-Baiketsu, is allowing Charles to tag along and shank people every now and again. Go read her round 2 entry ([link]) and my Round 2 SE to understand what's going on there.
My opponent, ~ashes2steel, has posted up his contending entry against The Magician, and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though there are obvious signs of it being rushed towards the end. But he really did Maggy justice. [link]
For comparison, mine is here: [link]
My audition is up, and I'm raring to go. EX has some great participants so far, but the number of mary sues and terrible writers is astounding. The current laughing stock is ~RatedDX, an 18-year old guy who writes like SquirrelKing. His character is evil for no reason, with no motivation and is about as deep as a dried-up coffee stain. And is about as likeable as said stain.
I was against Simmons101 here, and boy was his round epic. Like, unbelievably so. Despite it being poorly written and rife with cliche, it was dramatic, fun to read and just plain badass. Go read it.
His: [link] [link] [link]
Mine: [link] [link]
Update: Simmons won. Yay for him!
Our ref is up, I've scripted our audition and now it's just a case of bothering ~Greennite until he gets around to drawing it.
Well, I challenged my buddy Sensit to a rematch in an OCT. And since he's judging in EX, we had to find a new one. And between such horrors as Boom Town and Redemption, we found End Of Days. So, in a completely non-canon entry, I'm entering Charles to fight his Nathan. I still don't know how the universe will survive such an apocalyptic meeting of douchery, but it's going to be fun.
~And Now, to feature some wonderful art from friends~
<a href="http://shadow...
I have an idea for a unique OCT, but I'm not sure whether I should try and make it serious or not.
At any rate, it's under a working title of IRL. Basically, the only accepted media types would be photo comics and videos. No comics, prose or flashes, just photos or film. While this would limit characters to humans (though superpowers could still be done through video effects and photoshopping) it could be really interesting to see what people do with it.
The question is, should I try and market it as something serious, with proper acting and stuff, or something more along the lines of a working man's OCT that doesn't care about quality so long as it's funny (like ConcentrationMoon's LoT entry against Karl)?
Thoughts, people.
Well, I'm currently in the net cafe of this quaint little place called Future Land. Things here are prety slick, actually.
Just updating this journal to vent some more RAGE.
<strike>EFN "critiques" were posted a day and a bit ago. I scrolled through the masses and masses of paragraphs to find my own, eager to find out what was said about my entry.
Instead, I found this:
You had some nice ideas and good writing, but you need to work on making the story flow well and remember to break up your paragraphs so they don’t become too long.
WHAT. THE. HELL.
That isn't a critique. That's just noting on a few details.
SO ANNOYED.</strike>
EDIT: I just got a note from Care with my full critique, so consider the rage subsided
~Jared-Sol’s entry was well written, with a very promising beginning that made a unique choice in hitting the reader first with a sensation of taste, a sense all too often forgotten by writers. Jared-Sol, however, uses all sensations to good effect in his entry, making the most the sensations he can convey to his audience through his chosen medium. He delivered a competent prose style that created solid and easily understandable images in the minds of the reader, while keeping his opponent in character and providing reasonably good dialogue. (Although Mr. Inverted did not have his cane at the beginning of =Mr-Tea-and-Crumpets’s round, I am not penalizing Jared-Sol for this one, because Mister I’s reference sheet states that he will have it in Nevara.)
I was delighted to see the tale begin peacefully and in a friendly manner, with the two Brits sharing tea and talk. Jared-Sol took full advantage of his opponent’s abilities, using them to teleport his fighting pair to another location in Nevara in a good display of environment use.
While the entry displayed solid characterization and battle progression, it lagged a little at times, especially during long paragraphs of fighting action. Large blocks of essentially descriptive text slow the reader down, which isn’t good in general and especially in a fight scene. Breaking up these paragraphs occasionally would have allowed the reader to continue through the piece much quicker, at a speed better suited to an epic battle; otherwise, even moments of heavy action can become boring. At times the prose is slightly wordy, using more adjectives and adverbs than are tasteful or necessary—especially during descriptive passages, usually those used to denote a change of setting.
Jared-Sol closes the round with the intriguing removal of his opponent by Eskaed, leaving this judge grateful that although evil won over good, good remains alive and will be put to use by the Apparation (Note: not Apparition) later. However, I would have liked to have a clearer idea of where I could expect Charles to go after Mr. Inverted’s removal. Leaving him there at the scene left the battle feeling vaguely abruptly complete, and I would have expected a writer to do more.
Doesn't explain what gave Blake the edge in the end, but still gives me ideas on how I can improve future OCT entries and indeed non-OCT works.
So yeah, Futureworld was fun. Free internet, Segway tours, interesting stuff, generally great. I even got to try a new type of tea. White tea and Pomegranate blend is surprisingly nice.
OCT News
Well, as is obvious above, I lost. Kudos to Mr. TAC, whose entry I emplore you to read. I'm going to write a few SEs, and then join
The second Writers-only OCT that begins this sunday. I'm going to enter Charles in it, and hope I get further than the first round THIS time.
My opponent is one Ashes2Steel, and his character XIII, a demonic scarecrow thing. The entry's practically finished, I just need to upload it.
I won by default and advance to round 2. Though my opponent has started uploading a belated entry, which (because I can't spell her name and can't be bothered to go copypaste) can be found in my favourites. It's good so far. Go read it...
After all, I found EFN when I lost in Desire.
~~~

Update: Well, Judging is being redone for many reasons. There's a guy from Law of Talos, many talented artists, the guy who does the voice of Karl, me, another person who-

Wait, what?

I still can't believe that I'm in. Something crazy like 492 people signed up for 64 spaces. I don't care that I'm probably going to be knocked out in the first round, I actually made it into EFN. What's more, I think there's only one or two other writers here. I'M SO HAPPY.

Here's hoping I don't get paired with Black Ace too soon. As much as I'd love a Charles v Black Ace flash, I'd rather it were as close to the finals as possible.

In other OCT news, my matchup for Inorganic labs is up. A wonderfully imaginative duo, where one of them has a matter -> energy mechanical arm (a match for Jacob on his own) and the other is, as far as I can tell, a crazy gymnast-ninja. And now that I'm in EFN, I'm not going to enter sanguine. I just don't think I could keep up quality if I was juggling 3 cannons at once.

That's all for this entry.

EDIT: Well, the matchings for EFN are up, and I'm against .

While this isn't the worst case scenario of being paired against Zeurel, it's still bad. Very very very bad.

Oh well, if I give it my best, I'll have nothing to regret. Plus he's using Mr Inverted, which is pretty interesting a character on his own, but being pretty much the opposite of Charles, this will be a very interesting round. I'm even going to draw another awful vector picture, no matter how bad I suck at art.

Edit again: Well, both of our entries are up, and it's judging time. Click on over to his page. Meh, seeing as how great he is, I'm not that disappointed. Though I do wish I had used a less Mary Sue-ish OC, or got set up against one of the many, many, schizos or whatever. I'll be trying for the special re-enter event, but if three people like Sensit got knocked out, then I'm screwed.

Ah well, it was fun, and now I feel compelled to finish the continuation of The Broken Scythe I was planning before 1141 came along. Speaking of which, I'm halfway through chapter 9, and I have made significant changes to most chapters so far, so I'll update everything when I finish the magical number nine.

Also, time for some delicious copypasta.
What goes around comes around, and like the chain letter these deviantart memes never are, my oh-so worthy opponent :IconSensit: has now tagged me, too. Not one to spoil the fun, I guess I'll oblige.

1. Post these rules.
2. Each tagged person must post 8 things about their self on their journal.
3. At the end, you have to choose and tag 8 people and post their icons on the same journal.
4. Go to their pages and send a message saying you tagged them.
5. No tag-backs.

1) Until two years ago, when I had to write a short story for English coursework, I only ever wrote crude semi-fanfics (semi as I completely ripped off a game's premise or plot and took it as my own), featuring me and several imaginary friends taking down an evil corperation. In every one.

2) My eyes seem to change with my mood, changing between blue, green, turquoise, grey and I-can't-tell-what-colour-it-is.

3) I cry at sad endings. From Charlotte's Web to Anne Frank, even including Mother 3.

4) I constantly imagine myself as the hero of my own life, and situations where I prove that's possible, such as a fight scene breaking out at McDonalds when armed men storm the place for money. It helps I have the No More Heroes soundtrack on my iPod

5) My dreams are unbelievably vivid - Inside them I can actually recall memories of my past within that dream, as though I have lived an entirely different life in that world. For example: in a world where everything is the same as the real world only with some slight changes, I distinctly remembered the first time I tried on a bra, since every teenage boy did it at one point. I recalled it because my friends were discussing the first time they put on theirs.

6) Greennite / Ian Cheney is the source of most of my inspiration. The strange thing is, we only met because he watched a video of me fighting the final boss in that Boktai game that never left Japan and asked me where to find a rom for it. Did I mention he asked me by tracking down my email address and adding me on MSN?

7) I still haven't paid Will back that £10 I borrowed a half a year ago

8) I'm allergic to two things: One is prawns, probably all variants of shrimp, and potentially all seafood. The other is a random agent that pops up every now and again in spicy chicken dishes. It first arrived in the form of a delicious chicken curry. Then after a year of eating Sainsbury's Cajun-style chicken goujons, I had a bad reaction once. I think the most recent time was after some kind of chicken kiev. The symptoms include a shortage of breathing and my eyelids swelling up, much to the hilarity of those around me. So every time I eat chicken, I could potentially die. You know, if I ate enough of it and was REALLY unlucky.

Right, that's that. But I have no-one left to tag, so I suppose this time I'll let it end with me. Time for some quick updates: I "finished" my desire entry last week, around the same time as Sensit posted his. Then i realised over half of it was absolute crap, so I spent the time until now writing and re-writing it. I'll have it up soon, after a few more checks - I can't be too careful, considering the calibre of my opponent.

Oh, and 1141's finally being picked up again, after the Christmas break. A word of warning: Everything up on dA is obsolete by now, as I'm on version 100 million in all chapters and have revised loads of niggling little details and added a few subtle plot points in various places. I think i'll update all the chapters once, then if I make any more changes I'll just wait until I force you all to buy the book instead.

And I've downloaded the World of Warcraft trial. It's okay, and I can see why people enjoy it, but the height of its entertainment is hammering the attack button while you and your opponent fight like really sticky rockem sockem robots until one of your heads pops off. unless you run around in large groups to solve the quests, which is something trial accounts are incredible hindered to do, then it's about as fun as gouging your eyes out with forks and pouring salt on them.

Though I have about 4 books I need to read over the next two weeks, so I may still not have all that much time after all. Fail.

Also, I entered that Desire tournament ages ago, as you could tell by those things I posted. It sounds like it'll be fun. Judging and stuff needs to happen, though, so I might not make it through (Especially if they lack the 5 people to get to 64, therefore needing to lose about 25 entries).

I guess that's all for this random update.

Well, it's finally time I update this thing that I do.

First of all, Eleven Forty-One news. I have written 3 new chapters that are pending upload, but I still want to make sure everything flows right and stuff. After that, though, they'll be right up. Unfortunately, though, I've hit yet another writer's block in how to proceed, so expect another month's hiatus.

In the meantime, i've started what is intended to be a short story but could end as a novelette The Blood Rose, which, without spoiling too much, is, in a way, a satire about the Anonymous v Scientology thing going on right now. It was actually a real life game that Ian and I were trying to make for the summer, before we realised it would involve effort, and was thus cancelled.

Now time for personal news: I write this just after coming back from a Show of Hands concert. However, this was not just any concert (as you can tell by the middle-aged choice in band), but rather I was invited to interview the band to write an article that would be published in a regional magazine. Awesomesauce. The band was pretty good, but not really my usual style, so it could have been better. But still, I'm already climbing the writing ladder, so yayz.

A more pressing matter, though, is the fact I need to read 3 books by the end of christmas: A Handful of Dust by Evelyn Waugh (fantastic book, BTW), Atonement (Meh if I say so myself_ and Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit (Haven't even touched it yet). So don't be surprised if the next update is in January or something.

Been distracted a lot recently, so I didn't finish chapter 4 until earlier today. I was on the last paragraph for like a week because of everything.

So my second English lit. prose assignment is A Handful of Dust by Evelyn Waugh. Wow. His writing style is phenomenally implicit - hardly anything stated outright, and just... wow. Move over Orwell, I have a new writing idol.

And it's a week-long holiday here in England. For most. I have work experience for most of the time, though, so i'll get started on chapter 5, but I probably won't finish it. And I did the calculations earlier - 1141 is headed for ~ 60 A4 pages at a minimum, so it will be novella length by the time I'm done.

I'll finish with a shameless plug: [link] I'm a sucker for Death Note related videos, and J has some pretty good points in his videos. Also I've started to degrade into 4chan culture. Here's hoping I finish 1141 before I'm fully turned.

Voice in his head: (Yeah right, liek you're gonna finish it...)

SILENCE YOU!

Post these rules.
2. Each tagged person must post 8 things about their self on their journal.
3. At the end, you have to choose and tag 8 people and post their icons on the same journal.
4. Go to their pages and send a message saying you tagged them.
5. No tag-backs.

Mmmmkay, first of all, 8 interesting things about me...

1) My writing style, as far as I can tell, is self-taught. It's obviously influenced by everything I've read, but I've only ever read young adult fiction, like Artemis Foul...
2) 1141 is the first serious piece of writing I've done. Everything before it has been fanfics, semi-plagiarised plots and completely random story lines (see the broken scythe)
3) My favourite anime is Death Note.
4) In my spare time I like to plan / theorise about physical impossibilities, such as what to do in a zombie attack and whether time travel is possible. That, and nag Greennite till he draws some stuff for me.
5) The idea for 1141 was actually partially inspired by FFCCMLAAK, in that I was thinking about it. "Creating things from memory is too limited - let's make it from imagination. But then, how can you tell what's real...?"
6) At one point, 1141 was just going to feature three characters - Ben, Penny and Ceaser. Then Greennite suggested having a foil, Jacob was made, then I decided I needed more supporting cast members
7) One of my favourite sandwich-fillers is peanut butter and apple. You should seriously try it - it sounds disgusting, but then, so does the canadian breakfast of pancakes, bacon and maple syrup.
8) My preferred career path is to become the world's most famous Author while writing under a pen name and curing incurable diseases as a pharmaceutical bioengineer.

Now for the 8 people to tag:

     (that's you, Deepti)

And now, for some news about my works.

I've written a few pages of chapter 4, but right now I've hit one of my many block walls, and I'm trying to show a change in Ben's demeanour, but I'm struggling to keep him consistent as a character. It'll be right by the time I release chapter 4...

I went to see Wuthering Heights at the birmingham theatre the other day. it was very good - the leading actor made a very believable development through childhood to becoming the sour Heathcliff of the recent past. The only faults I could find was the occasional hiccup in stage directions, when Heathcliff jumped up onto a piece of furniture and it made a splintering sound. Oh, and Nelly Dean kept on misplacing her lines, stuttering or correcting herself on numerous occasions. Still, a very good play.

Finally, I'm starting a School Newspaper with one of my friends, so I may be slightly too busy to write 1141 as frequently as I'd like.

See yall next update!

Howdy all. Another fortnight, another chapter of 1141 done. I've planned out the next few chapters, but A-level work is starting to really tire me out. That, and creative collaborator Ian Cheney is hardly ever online and I really tend to use him to review most ideas and such before I do anything. Well, to be more specific, him, Oscar Williams, Jennifer Dovey, Deepti Kanchan...

At any rate, we're looking at the novella being about 100 pages long, book-size.

In other news, the OCBL has been cancelled. Lame. My latest entry sucked, so I'll finish everything off by making my own ending. Involving a huge explosion, the destruction of the OCBL by Jacob's hands, and a fight with Ian Chaney (Note, it's Chaney, the character). Probably. If I don't find time, just assume that Jacob got bored and blew the dimension up with an antimatter meteorite.

So I went to see a play the other day at the Birmingham theatre called "The Bad One," some Indie production with only 5 cast members loosely inspired by Jeckyl and Hyde. It was actually pretty good. The plot dragged a little, but there was some great characterisation, but most of the scenes and jokes could be traced back to the writer's obvious sexual desires spilling into her work. The naming references (Jeckyl and Hyde being Jackie and Hydie) gave me a comforting reassurance that <s>stealing</s> referencing names like in my own story is A-okay. I recommend anyone in the birmingham area to go and see it, but then, I have like one person reading this thing, and he lives in America. I'll be seeing Wuthering Heights and some other play in the next week also, so I'll review those too. Well when I say review...

Finally, my band of the post: Kings of Leon. If you like your Alternative rock in a accoustic and less powerful way, like Wheezer and The Killers, I recommend them.

Well, I'm out of great ideas for my OCBL entry, so chances are good it'll end up as a crappy battle scene rather than anything interesting or unique. Or good.

Anyway, I finally planned out the plot of 1141. Also I found out what a prologue really is, so I'm changing it to chapter 1 and so on. So now in chapter 3 (the one I've been stuck in a creative loop in for a while), I've finally got a page done. Now I just need to find a way to stretch the plot out for another 4 or so. Chances are I'll end up merging my ideas for 3 and 4 together. And my plans for 5-7 are just an umbrella of ideas, so really I'm still in a skeleton structure.

Really, Writer's block is to blame. I'll need to hunt down that VG cats comic...

In other news, it appears I've been living under a rock for ages and never heard of Anonymous, nor about their anti-Scientology movement. Good for you guys, take down an evil corporation or two. I might make a political short story to enter in their competitions, for poops and giggles of course. Then again, they might Fair Game me...

Also, my Wii will shortly be off to be repaired. Yays. Here's hoping it won't require the disc drive to be replaced. Actually, maybe it should, just to be certain it doesn't act up again.

Oh, and for a plug for the jounral: Jimmy Eat World. I like Alternative rock with a kick, and boy do they fit the bill. Go buy their stuff. ^_^

Seriously, England's weather in a point beyond its stereotype. The floods are coming once more (I'm so happy to be on a really big hill, for once) and I'm as much a prisoner of my own house as much as when the sun was out in spain.

And for that reason, i managed to finish my epic, 2450 word OCBL entry. I'm just fine-tuning the final paragraph, but it'll be up later today. This first round is turning out to be a real disappointment - everyone's either dropped out or only done a few pages due to time constrictions. I know I can't understand the intricacies of planning, sketching then inking a drawing as I'm but a writer, but I still wish that everyone could have done what they wanted.

A level education is great. I find human biology fascinating, in english all we do is read books / poems and discuss them, and chemistry and physics are interesting too. I can't wait to see what University will be like in a couple of years, too.

Finally, for the few people who actually read 1141, I will try and write a second chapter in the week between OCBL rounds. I haven't sat down to write any of that since I finished chapter 1, though, so it will probably take another fortnight before I'm satisfied enough to put it online.

Oh, one more thing - if scientists do indeed create a black hole on tuesday that destroys us all, then look me up in Heaven. I'd be happy to continue writing for you all.

God bless England and its many, many clouds. Now I needn't fear going outside. I love the sun and all, just not when it's trying to kill me.

At any rate, The pre-battle was a draw officially, but I got some extra votes afterwards. Many thanks to all that voted for me, I'll try and make round 1 more interesting.

Speaking of round 1, I'm up against Nightshade by . I've also "finished" chapter 1 of 1141, but I'm still fine-tuning some intricacies. And have been doing so for a week. I want a Death Note homage, but not a Death Note scene, if you understand. Speaking of Death Note, the first OP's band is actually pretty good, albeit incredibly outlandishly insane when it comes to dress sense. It's J goth, which should only ever be seen in bad manga stuffs.

The reason my writing's coming so slowly is my switch from a PC to a mac, so I'm still fiddling around with files, programs, and setting up Boot Camp on my Mac so I can run my custom Action game.

Aaaaaneyyy way, I'm starting UK college on Tuesday. It's basically glorified High School, where we do super hard exams over two years. Sound familiar? Yeah, we get tested pretty much our whole lives. As soon as I become the World's first multi-trillionaire writer, curer of cancer etc. and voted number 1 most handsome guy ever, I'll get right on abolishing standardised testing and go for the entrance exam idea. In other words: When pigs fly, my dreams will bear fruit.

So yeah. Watch this space, more writing is coming, seeing as it's the only creative art I'm good at.

I can retake some modules to fix some of them, but right here is proof the GCSE system doesn't work.

I got an A* in Biology, Physics, English language and French
I got an A in Chemistry, Maths, German, Geography and Music. Hopefully if these are close enough to A*s, I can ask for a remark and get moved up a grade.

Now, here's the shocker. In English literature, my absolute best subject, I got a B. Now to you americans, this may not seem bad, but the B is the third best grade, and I was due for an A*. It would be like Greennite getting a C in an art exam instead of an A.

Oh well, as soon as I get more specific results (scres etc.) I can find whether I can get Maths and chemistry changed to A*s without having to retake them. I'm retaking english lit for sure - when you've been getting in and around 90% for a entire year and get 60% in the exam, you know something went horribly arride.

Also, I hate to break release Quirious, but if I don't upload the rest of my OCBL entry before Saturday, I can't upload it till spetember. So I'll put it up tomorrow sometime.

BTW, before anyone starts posting sympathies about my results, bear in mind these results are considered very good. So if I suddenly go offline for over a month, I won't have died, only gone so unbelievably emo due to bad results. I don't think I'll be like Ben and go pushing people down flights of stairs, but just in case...

Well, I uploaded half of the first draft of chaptr one of 1141. Things don't flow quite right in some areas, but that's what feedback's for. Help me make a better story.

In other news, I've entered the new character Jacob Francois into the Original Character Battle League. Here's hoping it gets accepted. ^_^ But his entry form contains huge spoilers for 1141, so if you're one of the two fans of the series, then avoid reading it. Just admire the awesome drawing Greennite did.

At any rate (love that phrase), i've got past my block on chapter 1. Also, the thing's taken a bit of a more fantasy-type turn, and really it's pretty much Death Note, but replacing the power to kill with the power to create and change. So there is philosophy and psychology, but the main plot is more of a fantasy.

Also, I'm hopefully seeing The Dark Knight soon. Yays and stuff.

Thans to some inspiration from my good friend Greennite, I need to rethink the plot, so Chapter 1 is currently suspended. And since writing isn't like art, where I could just draw something real quick for people to enjoy, the imaginary people reading this will have to wait a little longer.

I really need to finish off this chapter, but everything's too concise. Too rushed. I need to find decent reasons to space out the plot points, some way f distracting the protagonist from advancing the story. If only this was an anime, I could fit in a montage, flashback or power up sequence. -_-;

I'll try and work some more on it tomorrow, still thinking of ideas.

Chapter 1 is coming along slowly. And badly. I'm 90% sure it's awful. So here's an excerpt. Review please.

A torrent of water surged past Ben as he tried to run down the winding corridors of the hospital. Something was chasing him, something dark and malevolent with tentacles and razor-sharp teeth, hungry for its next meal. The floor was flooded, and water was rapidly filling the building. Ben turned a corner, and almost ran straight into a large door. He tried to open it, but it was locked. A slithering sound let him know that he didn’t have much time. Ben threw himself repeatedly at the door, but it remained steadfast. His heart pounding in his chest, Ben turned around, pressing against the wall like a cornered rat. One indigo tentacle slowly reached out, coming closer and closer, until-

Also, MANY MANY MANY thanks to Greennite for his awesome drawing of me. I highly suggest that you go and check out his comic at [link]

I have loads of Ideas, but I never finish a story. I'll keep writing Eleven Forty-One, then.
