We're in debt, the bills are piling up (many aren't being paid), the house needs a lot of work (electricity is all fouled up, the roof needs repairs, the windows need new screens), there is no privacy in the house (I sleep on a mattress on the floor in the back room while my sister sleeps on the couch in the kitchen/computer room with our parents in the middle room), it's always an oven unless the a/c is on or its in the 70s and windy, and the driveway looks like it was recently shelled by the military.

Honestly, I am for selling the house and moving elsewhere in Florida. This house is killing us and there's no point in staying. Mom said something about moving into a townhouse or nice apartment. It may be $1,200 a month but with my sister and I helping with rent, we could afford it. We thought about moving near her work in Kenneth City. It would be a long drive to get my sister and I to work, but we could manage. We'd probably look for closer employment (that hopefully pays better and isn't so blah).

I'm excited, although I sit with a -_- face due to fatigue. I hope we do move. I'll definitely harass John from Career Resources more now that there's promise of a better place to live in a different area.

Anyway, I'm watching CNN and all the going-ons. Iran's a mess; I feel so bad for the protesters. The channel keeps showing videos of people getting shot or beaten. Come on, United Nations! Can't you see what's going on? Haven't you heard the sounds of gunfire, the screams of the women, and the chants for freedom? You, United Nations, have become worthless it seems; dragging your feet around as countries like Iran and North Korea abuse its people or its power. Grow a spine and some testicles!



In art news: I broke out my art kit. I don't have my larger book to doodle in so the "journal" I was going to write in every day (whoopsies!) is now my art book.

Here's the plan:

Work at Surf Style for however long it takes to save up enough money for an apartment and vehicle (been looking at this just for fun: [link]); a bike will be first in terms of a ride. I've got a credit card bill to pay off first (not too bad, only $200), then I can save. I must be more vigilant this time around and thankfully school can't interrupt full-time money-making. I'll also be saving up for my loans which are also not that bad ($24-26k).

While I am working, I'll be looking for another job. Americorps (www.americorps.gov) seems like a great opportunity; you get training, could travel, learn new skills, and help America. ALSO! It helps pays student loans. I'll need to be careful, though, I'm not sure if all the money you make goes back to the loans or not... If not that, there are other opportunities. I can also sift through the USGS jobs and see if they have any that fit my skills. Secretary positions are not one... Nor are hydrologists positions... Gotta keep in touch with Dick Poore...

I'm in no rush to do things other than saving money so there's no rush to find THAT ONE JOB that will take me places. I'll find it eventually.





P.S. I'm not euphoric, the mood thing is stuck...

McCain's own supporters are becoming too rowdy, too verbally violent. The Republican party's attacks have instilled anger, hatred, and a verbal lust for violence/blood now not even McCain can calm his crowds. I respect the fact that he's defending Obama, I'm happy that he is. Yet look at these people. This is deep, backward feelings that some Americans still harbor. How sick is that? See what the personal attacks have done? It has inflamed those feelings!! If Obama wins, he'll have to have uber protection from half the country. How sad is that?


I'm going to be dedicating my journal to political updates because I feel this is so important right now. Sorry for all the rapid, anti-McCain updates. It just upsets me so much because I'm at that college student-radical age right now and this is my first election that I can vote in.

McCain and Palin make a terrible duo, by the way. She barely knows anything about Washington and she certainly needs to have a better handle on her intelligence and speech before I'll ever consider her to take office in the White House. I don't mean to say she's ignorant, its just that EVERYONE knows she was being schooled on all things American because face it, Alaska isn't always attached to America's current timeline of events. I don't approve of her policies she propped during her years in Alaska. I don't like the fact that she made rape victims pay for their own rape kits. I don't want her shoving her pro-life policies in legislation. I think it's horrible that she put bounties of the forelegs of wolves and allowed them to be hunted from a helicopter. I do not want a politician that thinks homosexuality is a choice and that gays should be tolerated. I don't want a (vice) president who believes humans and dinosaurs lived together or that dinosaurs were fake (it goes either way). I don't like how she told America that she didn't support the Bridge to Nowhere and does not support earmarks but she clearly did when she was in office in Alaska. Her election was a political stunt to gain the female and uber religious vote. She is not worthy of a VP slot; McCain could have done SO much better!

What angers me even more than the Republican ticket is the supporters. Not all of them, obviously, are as bad as the ugly ones that have shown their true colors. I understand there will be mudslinging in presidential races but, SERIOUSLY, did any of you see video footage from the rallies of supporters shouting "KILL THE TRAITOR" or "KILL HIM"? People want to HARM Barack Obama because, apparently, he's a traitor, commie, or terrorist lover. Also? He's black. Some people hate him because he his BLACK. There are still bigoted, racist people in this country and they cannot get over a black man becoming the president. They can't get over the fact that Barack Obama's father was from Kenya and his middle name is Hussein. They can't get over the fact that he is a Christian (with many years of attending church to prove so) and not a Muslim. They can't get over the fact that he is NOT BUDDIES with that Ayers guy and just because you know someone who was an unrepentant terrorist doesn't automatically make you one. I know there are hateful people out there, but it sickens me to see their scaley hides on television. Grow up you backward, bigoted, ignorant insults to the American people! This era no longer wants your kind!

I believe Barack Obama and Joe Biden will bring the change needed in this country. People think Obama's biting off more than he can chew. He'll have many advisers and resources to help him achieve his goals. If he isn't able to pursue something while he's working on something else, I know he'll set that aside instead of charging in headlong. He is so more mature than the other candidates and Biden will help him keep a level head. I believe he is the one that will help this country regain its footing and prosperity. Of course it's important for America to be powerful and respected in the world, but we need to work on ourselves before we look to the world.

If you've been thinking about not voting this election year, please vote. It is extremely important that you do because this is a very important time in the history of America and we're apart of it. If you don't want to vote for Obama, fine, just please do not vote for the Republicans. Independents are much better than McCain and Palin.

Edward Norton is a great actor but sucks as a voice actor. I'm serious. His voice is detached, uncaring, monotonous, and it seems like he was unwilling to voice his character in the game. I feel like the game directors should've beaten him to get more emotion out. Seriously, some of the conversations are painful to listen to.

Good announcement first:
I have enough financial aid (finally) to go back to school AND have money for both trips to Cincinnati in October (my cousin's wedding and the anime convention). YAAAY!

Bad announcement next:
Not too long ago, the largest raid on an animal mill took place in TN. 700 purebred dogs and cats were rescued from conditions that make me so sad, I can't even type them because I start to tear up just thinking about it. SPCA Tampa Bay is taking in 100 purebred dogs and 28 purebred cats; they will be arriving Monday. They'll be given treatment before going up for adoption and ONLY TEN will be put up for adoption each morning to prevent a mad rush at the adoption office (we predict scuffles, too).



Okay, in other news: Erica's new kitten, Monte, is too damn adorable. ^__^ Aaand dA STILL won't let me change my mood. BOO!

I have to mention the previews because there were several movies in there that looked pretty spiffy.

There's a new "Mummy" movie coming out: The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emporer. From the trailer, it looks just like the other Mummy movies: funny, action-packed, good story (well I think so...), and even has the ridiculous aircraft of almost certain death but will still get you there if you need it to. Should be good!

Another movie which caught my eye: Hamlet 2. Steve Coogan plays a terrible actor-turned drama teacher and is told to create the best play ever or get lost. So he makes a sequel to "Hamlet" that includes Jesus, Satan, the President of the US, and a time machine. It looks pretty freaking hilarious.

Lessee... Hellboy II: The Golden Army. I liked the first movie a lot and am excited to see a second one! The music in the trailer is Rammstein's "Mein Herz Brennt", which made the trailer look epic. Anyway, story goes there was a truce between humans and monsters (who live out of our sight). Of course, some monster schmuck has to go screw things over, blah blah blah. Movie. Looks good! I swear! check it out.

Righteous Kill. Al Pacino. Robert De Niro. Two awesome cops. Many dead bodies. 'Nuff said.

There were several other movies previews. Hancock is one. The first trailers I saw online kind of sucked but the one in the theater showed more of the story and it honestly looks pretty decent. Not "OMG THAT WAS LIKE TOTALLY AWESOME" but something you'd like to watch one day because it's Will Smith in funny situations yet there's a decent story to it. There's also Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Doesn't look too bad but we'll see.

I can't recall anything else, but there might be something. I'm still whirling over the movie. Hehe. Just go see it. You can't really judge movies unless you've seen them.

It rained today and rained yesterday, I hope tomorrow is sunny. Doesn't have to be warm outside, I just want a little sun. Rainy days make me sleepy, but we need the rain and I don't mind the change.

There isn't much to talk about, really, nothing big is going on. Next week, on the 28th, I move into Alpha Mill 16 and start my internship the following Monday. WHEE! Excited and also nervous. I really don't like change because it makes me uncomfortable and I'll probably never get over it. Three years after leaving my comfort zone and I still dislike changing routines. Starting my life off as (hopefully) a college graduate is going to be REAL tough considering I've never really had to pay bills before, hold a job, and pray that I have enough money to buy a shiny comfort object once in a while.

Here's one good situation:
1. I gradute
2. I get a job with the USGS or something to that extent
3. I get an apartment near my job
4. I have a ride (be it a friend, co-worker, the bus, a bike, or the good ol' Shoe Leather Express)
5. I make money
6. I buy a maltese puppy before I'm 25

Sounds good? I can live without the dog, but it's something I want eventually. Yes, I've researched the breed; it barks, it has bad teeth, I need to be careful about letting it in the sun, pups go to the bathroom every 2 hours and they are hard to house break, I need to brush its fur every day and especially near the eyes to keep the goop from discoloring the fur, and it's expensive. I don't care, I want one. Maybe when life settles down and is stable...

Until my freedom from the education system is at hand, I'm going to freak out about passing calculus 2 and pray that I have the money to even start my last year.



Now I'ma eat my Subway sandwich and play EverQuest2. :B

So for those of you who do not know what Relay for Life is, it's a fund-raising event created by The American Cancer Society to raise money to help find a cure for cancer and also help cancer patients with the disease (get treatment, rides, etc). At the event, teams walk for 18-24 hours after they have raised money individually. They keep raising money during the event by offering a service or food of some sort. To keep people entertained, various events are held like eating contents, scavenger hunts, and some of the laps are themed (Tacky Tourist, crab-walk, girls only, etc). Our even started at 12:00pm and ended at 6:00am.

My college's pride group formed Team Skittles and our team fund-raiser was a raffle for a 1GB mp3 player. We had 8 members originally...

Rant portion, because I need to get it off my chest: I got there around 11:30am; two of my other teammates were there and a fourth on the way. The other four were asleep... Needless to stay the four of us (who made it on time...) had to do the opening team lap by ourselves and set up the rest of our campsite by ourselves. They trickled in as the day went on and only ONE of them stayed the whole time. Our team captain had to leave because she got ill. :[ The most distressing thing was that one girl walked a whole lot and left, thinking she did her part. Another barely even walked and was barely there.

The whole point of the event (besides raising money/awareness) is to honor and remember the cancer victims and patients. Staying the whole 18 hours, struggling to stay awake and keep walking is symbolic of the struggle of cancer patients. You're there for them, not yourself.

So many people left before midnight. Some didn't even make it to the Luminaria ceremony.


Aside from all that, I had a lot of fun. I was with my friends and was doing a good thing. The committee had many fun things for a us to do (our team won the tug-o-war contest, OH YEAH GIRL POWER) and there was nibblies and such. ^__^ I'm going to try to do it again next year.


I did it for me, for the cancer patients and victims, and my grandmother who passed away in 2003 from lung and liver cancer.

It's a 17inch, 1440x900 resolution, 75GB hard drive, 1GB ram, and A FULL FREAKING KEYBOARD; the brand is Sager, I've never heard of it, but I'm diggin' it. ^___^ AND IT'S GAMING COMPUTER!



I was worried in the beginning of the day; it had started to look gloomy out and even rain a bit. I always get bummed out when the weather is poor but it was worse since the party was outside. We left a little later than planned because mom wanted more time. It was a lot of fun despite the cloudiness. Mom through glitter and confetti at me, made me wear a Birthday Hat, and basically schemed. XD She gave all my friends those fireworks that pop and shoot confetti then handed out silly string. My cake was in the shape of "21" and very yummy. ^__^

Presents were this FRICKING AWESOME LAPTOP (which I will be taking a picture of), a bar of natural (and uber smelling) soap, (lotsa) money, a Blaqk Audio t-shirt, and a pizza gift card. Kenny's gonna buy my first month subscription of EverQuest when I get it downloaded onto the computer. HEEEEE!

We were going to the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa but it fell out due to lack of I.D.s and mom was tired. We went to the Treasure Island Fun Center instead and to Waffle House for dinner. It was still a lot of fun!



Ohhh my lord, I am still buzzing; I can't believe I got a new laptop. ;___; <--happeh tears

Yesterday, to recap, was my first and only class of the day (lab was cancelled). Sedimentation and Stratigraphy with Dr. Brooks AND TWENTY TWO OTHER STUDENTS (23, I believe, is the final mark). That is TWICE the size that class should be but because Dr. Wetzel is not teaching the Mineral course, we got the overflow. T__T There are a few students that goof around which will be entertaining once in a while but definitely annoying and distracting. But that's not all, oh no. The book is $126 at the bookstore and $80 on the internet. Of course, I won't need it for a while, but it'd be handy to have when exams come a few weeks from now. Also? The labs. We're supposed to go coring two weeks from now to get rock samples from the bay; all our labs revolve arrounding testing the core samples. We're required many hours OUTSIDE OF LAB AND LECTURE to work on these samples. HOWEVER, the boat we will be using to get the cores is unavailable until the end of February meaning we have several labs where we have nothing to do THUS more hours OUT of lecture and lab required to work on the samples. Spoot. All.

Today! Chemistry 2, Calculus 2, Marine Science Seminar. Chemistry 2, I have a few worries about since the labs will now be graded. I already need about $8 for a new lab manual and new lab notebook. Add that to the $80 book. Calculus 2, I am worried about. It will be difficult. Dr. Fernandez told all those who have not had calculus in a year (which would be me and half the class) that there is a new (and thus expensive) calculus book. I borrowed Lexi's so no problem there. The other problem with that is I now have a $100, useless mass of paper in storage (the bookstore won't take it back now that a new book is being used). Seminar hasn't occured yet but it won't be difficult, I can safely assume that. Small amounts of work are required and I'm okay with that.

Now to mention a few other things: I have $1,500 for work study () but had to switch it all around to ensure employment at the Library (T_T). I have one more class (The American Experience) to buy books for but they are $76 here (about $45 online). I also have a phone bill to pay for soon. I need to wait for my school refund and my paycheck to come before I go spending money. I don't want to run real low and also don't want to use my credit cards for anything (other than two books for $6, trying to break in my other card with a tiny expense). Money'll be tight this semester (a punishment to buying stuff for Christmus, but I'm still learning the ropes of things). Eh. Writing Portfolio due in March. I'm missing a paper somewhere but it has to be here in my room. The other paper I need may be with me or in storage, I'll have to look when I can. Other than that, I need to fix it all up, write five more short blurbs, and take the timed exam. WOO.

Where am I going to find all this time this month? MY BIRTHDAY IS NEXT WEDNESDAY!! (212121212121)

I do not drink so we're going gambling as the fun activity, grill out with family and friends, and I WILL remember my 21st birthday. I hope to win something from the casino but whatever. It'll be fun. ^_^
