Recently I began my candidacy for Master of Fine Arts at Montclair State University in New Jersey.  I am very close to NYC. Insane work load!

Also, this past summer I was given an apartment above a studio where I will be making work for the following summers in Gilbertsville New York.  (Near Oneonta and Norwich)  This location will soon be a thriving residency program.

I just finished my second commission.  It's called "CYCLE" It was given to me by the Syracuse Public Arts council.  I worked with the students of Henninger High School in Syracuse.  They came up with the designs of the ceramic tiles which I affixed to the top portion of the piece.

The Post Standard gave me a picture on the front page, underneath the debt ceiling headline and I got a HUGE pic in the CNY section with praise as well.  This is all very exciting!  I thought you should all see the online article.

While I wait to be settled in a metal studio I am making functional and decorative pottery at a local studio here in Syracuse.  I have not been unemployed since I was 16.  I now know why artists starve.  Thank god for friends and family otherwise I would be on the streets.

     I am interested in an issue.  This issue is on form.  When someone conceives a form with the intent to either: impose a specific message to the viewer, OR to let the viewers' mind roam "free."  Can an artist create an abstract form with no representation yet this form contains the same visual impact as a fully representational form, is this work equally commendable?

I believe that art is supposed to be uplifting.  I believe it is supposed to challenge the viewer and push them outside of their comfort zone.  Art is meant to make a person dig inside of their mind and search for a purpose that the object they're starring at, or song they are listening to, or show they are watching is supposed to have.
