I don't think I ever realized how difficult jewelry photography can be!
I've read a little on how to get good photos, and I feel like the 100+ pics I took are pretty decent. The big problem is my camera - it doesn't have a macro setting. I'll definitely be purchasing a new camera, hopefully in the near future.
But for now I'm pretty happy with my results. Oh, I also recently switched from a PC to a Mac and, consequently, switched from Corel PhotoPaint to the GIMP for editing. My GIMP skills are a little rusty so any suggestions/links to tutorials are welcome.
I have been using *chat-noir's photo editing tute: [link] and it's been very helpful.

So the plan is to do 20 portraits and finish them!! Even if they are a load of - well you know. And the hope is that by the end my skills will have improved.
Thinking ambitiously, I want to do 20 male and 20 female...eventually! Wish me luck, I'll post them here once I deem them good enough. Or maybe sooner for some good crit.

The jewelry show was today, and I sold a lot of stuff!! I was very happy with the turnout. I won't post everything I had for sale, just a few favorite pieces!
Now I have some time to relax, catch up on reading, and make a few things for myself...until school starts, that is.

Oh and I loved Deathly Hallows. Yes...there maybe could have been more of this and less of that, but overall I enjoyed it.

My thoughts:
I want dA to remain a community. I don't post my art here for other people to make money off of it. I came here to display my work, have it critiqued, improve, make friends, and find inspiration. The main thing I like about dA is that all skill levels are accepted - it doesn't matter how 'good' or 'professional' your work is, if you put your heart into it, you deserve to show it off. (For the moment, I've hidden my art - silent statements have more of an effect than physical violent ones, I think.)
I want dA to stay like that. And so I support °jark and anyone who feels the same.

I love this free one-week trial. I might have to get a subscription eventually, this is too cool.
Now that AP art is finally over, I don't have to worry about it any more. Eventually I'll get around to posting pictures of the stuff I did this year. Most of it will not be scanned because it's too large/the scanner doesn't like to work for me.
During AP art I really didn't draw anything other than what I had to for class, and lately I've been in kind of a slump. I've also been spending a lot of time taking inventory of all my Star Wars stuff (which is a lot more than I thought I had), and I've been going to rebelscum.com for information. So today they had a link to the star wars kids website on how to draw General Grievous, so I pulled out my new (free) sketchbook and drew Grievous. And then Boba Fett. Those will be up one day when I feel like messing with the scanner.
At least I'm drawing again.

Favorite parts: Grievous' death scene, the Wookies, the final battle between Anakin and Obi-Wan, and any part with Obi-Wan, really.
But what on earth was up with the slapstick humor and the Phantom Menace repeat in the beginning? ("Master, destroyers!" - surprised that Obi-Wan didn't stick his lightsaber through a blast door, honestly.)
