So!
Just thought I'd post up a little fun fact. I saw the Princess and the Frog Sunday and it was pretty much amazing. I hope the ol' 2D animation sticks around a little longer, if not forever. It's so much better than the way most movies nowadays are animated, it's not even funny.
But anyway, yes, it was a really really fantastic movie (awesome characters, stellar storyline, and really fabulous music), and it has been controlling my artistic mind for the past two days.

Also, in case you haven't noticed, I have used the words amazing, fantastic, awesome, stellar, and fabulous to describe this movie. That means you should for sure go and see it! Support an honest, funny, wholesome, and fulfilling movie! Whoo!

Yes, Happy Easter, all.
What a beautiful day it was here. Sunny, but with a cool breeze. A really nice early spring-y day.
But, as I hope everyone is aware of, Easter isn't just 'The Spring Holiday'. Neither is it celebrating the fluffiness of bunnies and baby chickens, or eating really good chocolate (I'm a fan of Lindt). No...
People, this was the day that our Savior rose from the dead. After enduring the pain and humiliation, hanging on the cross, going to the grave, going into Hell to take the key of death from Satan, he came back. He is Risen! How he loves all of us!
He didn't only die for the people who would turn their lives over to him, you know. He died for each and every human being, whether they believe in him or not. And that is true love. Unconditional love. Dying for someone who loves you? That'd be hard enough. Dying for someone who was convinced I was possessed by a demon? Or even someone who wanted me dead? Somehow, I don't think so. But that's the kind of Lord we have! He's ready for anyone to turn and acknowledge him. And he wants everyone to turn and acknowledge him.
And listen to this: When Jesus rose from the dead, he folded his linen and put it on the bench in the tomb. No big deal, eh? But wait to hear this next part. Back then (not sure if it was just Jewish or not), when you were eating a meal and had finished with it, you just kind of tossed your napkin on the table as messily as it happened to be. But if you were not finished with your meal, and you only had to leave for a moment, you folded the napkin to show you were returning.
So?
Jesus folded his linen. Jesus is returning for us, guys! He's not finished with this world just yet. He's still got some sons and daughters down here watching out for 'im, and he's waiting just as eagerly as they are for the day when they can all be together!

Yes, the book with the vampires.
*Sigh*
First let me say I don't want to read it. Honestly and truly, I don't. I have read enough exerpts, enough spoofs, have seen the movie, and have heard many opinions on it to convince me I do not like it. I even read the first few pages a while ago. But I have found that when I tell people why I don't like it, they say it's not fair for me to cast my opinion because I have not read it. In a way, I see their point. Obviously, I would be upset if someone decided instantly they didn't like The Sight (by David Clement-Davies) when they haven't even read the book.
So I'm thinking of reading Twilight to get a full opinion of my own. I really don't see what all the euphoria about it is. As soon as I heard the vampires were sparkly I was turned off. Come on... they sparkle, they're supposedly 'gorgeous', they have super-speed, super-strengh... they're basically described as perfect. How uninteresting!
Some aspects of the book are intriguing, I'll admit. The fact that the vampires were alive 'back then', and... well, maybe that's the only intriguing part, .
Anyway, I saw the movie last night. The acting wasn't terrible, but the whole thing was a little boring. My sister, who read 3/4 of the book, said they matched pretty well as she thought the book was really boring as well. I found that the movie was filled with many dull conversations between Edward and Bella (the conversations seemed awkward, as if they weren't comfortable around each other, yet the two are somehow filled with unconditional love towards each other). The other parts of the movie that stuck out were all the deep, intense looks between Edward and Bella. In the lunchroom, Ed's kind of, hunched over his table, staring at Bella. At night, he watches her. Now, kids nowadays (well, I'm a kid, soo... other kids nowadays) might think that's romantic, but I think it's rather weird. Of course, such devotion seems desirable, but I was also turned off by the fact that he was only attracted to her because of her blood... "I no longer have the strength to resist you." is what Edward says, but is he just talking about how her blood is like his 'own personal dose of heroin', and he can't deny how much he desires it? I dunno, their whole relationship seemed kind of boring to me. The best part, the part that really seemed to reveal how much they liked each other, was when Bella was writhing on the floor after being bitten by that James character, and Edward looked quite sick. But, I think that was the only time. Oh, also the part where they were playing the piano. But other than that, they just seemed too uncomfortable around each other.
So yeah! Just my own little thoughts on the widely read and loved book. Probably I'm already prejudiced against it, but if it truly is good (I doubt it) then I will admit it. As it stands, however, my hopes are not high.

Oh, and the kittens are doing well. Fezzik has gotten so much bigger! And Zelda is such a little klutz sometimes.

Well, I just decided it was about time I updated this thing
We now have two new kittens! One is the first one my Mom accepted from a woman at church, and the other we got so that the first would have a playmate and maybe so she could keep him in line a bit.
The first one's younger, a precious gray tabby and splotched tom, and his name is Fezzik. In honor of the giant in The Princess Bride, maybe, but it also just seemed to fit^^. He's not nearly so solemn, though. He's actually Fezzik the Frenzied kitten. Some of his hobbies include: running up and down the house, climbing anything in sight as fast as he can, attacking anything that moves, and irritating our older cat, Angel.
Angel has been with us for about 10 years, or so, i'd say. We used to have another cat, Neeko, but she's no longer around. I like to believe she hasn't died, but we're not sure where she is. She scored a ride with my oldest sister to the city (without her realizing it) and promptly leaped out the door when it was open. She was always really adventurous, and that added on to her fear probably caused her to run away. I miss her a lot... Even though that was a few years ago.
But anyway, so there's Angel and Fezzik. But the newest addition is Zelda, a cute, long-legged, klutzy torbie she-cat. She is very vocal, and a few weeks older than Fezzik. They crash around nonstop, and poor Angel is probably on her last nerves.
So yes, that's the latest news with my cats at least. I have lots of pictures I've been drawing, but hardly any of them are colored, and most are sketches that I hadn't deemed worthy of uploading. But I like them, so maybe I'll upload a few

I am so excited!! This is such a shock! Okay okay... I woke up today and started getting ready to go to the dentist, like, expecting nothing in particular to happen or anything. I was just thinking about the teeth-cleaning, and not really looking forward to it, when my sister knocks on the door and tells me she has something important to show me. She rarely ever sounds so serious, so I was really wondering what happened. I began to think something was wrong. So she came in and everything, handed me a little yellow lined piece of paper and said 'Read this and tell me if it says what I think it says.'
So I take the paper and read it, getting becoming quite ecstatic.
It turns out that at my Mom's Bible study last night a lady asked her if she wanted a kitten! She said yes!! So we're getting a kitten! The lady has to get him from her boss, but we should have him by monday at the latest!
He's a dark gray kitten with faded darker stripes that start to swirl when they reach his back. This is so exciting! Earlier, before the school year ended, we had had an opportunity to get a free kitten, but my mom said no. I understood though, because we already have a cat, and she is NOT what you wold call social. She's around 8 or 9 years old, and dislikes any strangers. Though she usually only hisses at strange cats, not humans. But we're going to introduce the new little guy to her gracefully and gradually.^^ Anyway, Mom said the lady must have caught her in a good mood, lol But she's not angry that she said yes, she even seems excited at it. I can't wait. We thought a little about names, but decided you totally can't name a cat until you see for yourself what they look like and how they act. I really like the name Lucado, though. How fun!
*Breathe*
Okay, I've been noticing this thing called the 100 Pictures Challenge, and have decided that I want to do it. It's great in a way that you don't have to think about what you should draw because you have the title of it already on the list. Which is a big help to me because I get artist's block a lot. AND hopefully it'll help me get better at my backgrounds which are pretty...ah...terrible most of the time.
So anyway! After much consideration, I'm definitely going to do it. Below are the rules.
The rules

1.) Make 100 pics each pic having a theme listed below. Each pic should have ONE and only ONE theme to it, for it to count.

2.) No time limit so have fun

3.) The main picture should be drawn but not limited to. for all fair purposes, people are allowed to use their paint programs and photo shop to create the pic.

3a.) pics should be of own artistic ability. You may not edit photos, or break any other rules set out in the Da etiquette policy. Your pics can be anything from sketches and doodles to great master pieces. Just have fun with it.

4.) The list below is to be placed somewhere in your journal for others to see that......
A.)You are in the challenge
B.)What you have completed

5.) make sure to update this list and check off what is done and make a link to the pic

6.) In the comments for your art work note if it is part of the list and what ONE theme it is.

THE LIST............................
1. Introduction
2. Love
3. Light
4.
Well, happy new year! I still can't believe how fast 2007 (and Christmas for that matter) went by. I don't really make strict new year's resolutions; I just kinda think of things I'd like to do, or get better at and make it a point to try. But I try to do that every day, so eh.
Anyway, getting to the title, OH my gosh!! I watched Moulin Rouge last night. I must admit, I thought I wouldn't like it; I'm really not one for romance. But this was obviously special! The two main characters' voices were just...amazing! There should be some other word to better describe them. So beautiful. I mean, listening to the music and hearing them sing just inspired me so much. I love to sing, but I have this problem with shyness, or nervousness, whichever. I can't bring myself to do any activity that has to do with singing because I don't think I'd be able to do it. (Choir isn't included in this whole circumstance. I'm not in choir just flat because the songs they sing are frivolous and like mindless theme songs. Bad experiences. No offense, those who like choir.) But after watching Moulin Rouge I just felt this great feeling. I felt like I needed to sing. Silly it may seem, but it's true.
So yeah. That movie is stunning. Spectacular.

P.S. Take a look at this person's journal and see if you can help in any way!: [link]

Ahhhh....Christmas! It was one of the best, I think.
One of my sisters who lives away from us came up, an uncle came, and my grandpa came for Christmas. There were more presents under the tree this year than any other year, for some reason! It was amazing. I was almost to tears when I saw my gifts, they were so awesome.

Clarinet Christmas music

And (OH MY GOSH) a tablet. YES! A TABLET! I'm so ecstatic! It was amazing opening it up because, I mean, I was hoping, but I didn't really think I would get it. I'd told my family not to get it because of the cost, so it was SO awesome to actually realize I have one now! The downside is that while the first CD worked, the computer didn't recognize the second one at all. It kept saying to put in the CD when it was already in there, so we were thinking they accidentally included a blank CD in the box. We're going to see if we can replace it. But I've been practicing with the pen and mouse and stuff for the last...hm, 20 mintues probably? Yeah, checking it out.

So all in all, I'm so thankful for such a wonderful Christmas. Even though there was no snow..., that's only something small, and the rest of the day totally overshadows it!

P.S. the bright blue light on the tablet is so pretty!

Hah! Updated a little earlier than usual this time.
Anyway, not much going on here. My Thanksgiving was fun. I love turkey. But my sister made this really great cherry and blueberry pie with a delicious crumble topping that was WONDERFUL. Mm! After Thanksgiving, my friend from where I use to live came down to visit. Then on Saturday, when we took her back, I stayed there with my cousin til Sunday evening. So yeah, it was pretty fun.
I've drawn quite a few things, but none of them are really traced or colored.. *cough*.. I've just not got around to it. I'm about to upload some little sketches I did in language arts, after this, though. Not that language arts is boring! By no means! We're actually learning about WWII which is REALLY interesting. (Yeah, we're learning about WWII in language arts, lol. It's because we're going to read the diary of Anne Frank.) It's just that, I dunno. I don't like sitting still for a long time without moving at all, and drawing/doodling helps take my attention off the sitting stillness.
So yeah, there's that. And I wanted to mention how HAPPY I am to have won Best Story in 's contest! Yay! She drew the most beautiful picture for my prize! Here's the link: [link] ~ It illustrates a scene in the story I wrote for the contest.
Other than that, that's pretty much it. I'll get to everything I wanted to do after writing this then.
Cheerio!

P.S. I ordered the comic The Blackblood Alliance by and , and can't wait to get it in the mail!
Oh my gosh! I just got back from meeting Erin Hunter! Well, actually, it was Vicky Homes (Holmes?), but it was still amazing!
She was so nice! It's weird to put a personality to a name I've only ever read. She had a great sense of humor, and told us (those of us who were at the book-signing) her favorite characters, books to write, and her least favorite book to write. She told us she's planning on writing 24 books in all!!! There's going to be a whole OTHER series after the Power of Three. The second AND third books of the Power of Three are already written, but are coming out one in December, and the other in April. I wanted to ask why there's always such a huge gap between the release dates, but I forgot. I forgot a lot of things I wanted to say. I think I have short-term-memory loss.
She also said that she really would love for there to be a movie, but a Warriors movie would be such different material from the movies that are becoming such great hits these days. So hopefully in the future...?
Heh, I'm the kind of person who enjoys the books waaaay more than the movie, but sometimes the movies are pretty darn good. Like, it would be fun to see a warriors movie, but stuff is always left out (just look at Harry Potter...) so I'm afraid some of it would be ruined.
Ahhhhhh yeah. Anyway, it was really fun. Got my first warriors book signed. The first one was my favorite. I also got Firestar's Quest, which I've already started, and which is QUITE interesting...

There was a whisper through the trees. The leaves rustled gently as a soft breeze swept among them. The fluttering noise caused the mouse to look up from the seed it was nibbling on and it scented the air with a furiously twitching nose despite the seemingly obvious sign of ordinary nature. But of course, it wouldn't want to abandon its life because of a subtle smell that hadn't been there before. Fortunately, it didn't scent anything out of the usual and it sighed in contentment, turning back to its seed.
UNfortunately it happened to be upwind and not able to smell anything if anything at all happened to be downwind of it. But it led quite a simple life and didn't think about all those reasonings. Which is why it had no idea about the cat until the sudden flash of caramel and black and the feeling of being pressed under a very heavy weight caused it to lose its seed and sqeak in protest. Then it was paralyzed as pain flashed through its fur into its skin.
~~~
Jal's claws felt the satisfying warmth of the creature's fur as she pierced its skin. The muffled sqeak sounded and she smirked. 'You're just a mouse,' she thought. 'Like you feel anything!'
The tiny body went limp and Jal leaned down and picked it up in her teeth. She purred in happiness and trotted back to the fence guarding her house.
A warm scent drifted past her nose, then. It was so familiar it overlapped the smell of her prey. She set the mouse down between her front paws and looked around. A dark brown cat was perched atop the fence next to her own sitting straight and tall with its tail wrapped around its front paws.
"Hello Jal! I see you've been hunting again." The cat meowed with a kind voice. Jal's eyes opened wide with recognition and she replied, "Yes Kerae. It seemed to be almost waiting for me. You should try it. It tastes much better than the stuff they feed you." By 'they' she meant the humans. The two were always debating over which was better: freshly caught forest-smelling prey, or the delectable wet food the people gave out very rarely.
Kerae shook her head but smiled. "Maybe I will someday. But right now the stars are beginning to appear and my family expects me. Have a good supper, my friend." The cat flicked her tail in farewell and leaped lightly off the fence. Jal mewed a good-bye and then scooped up her mouse into her mouth again. She padded over to her tall, brown wooden fence and crouched, waiting to leap. The mouse slowly swaying at her movement.
Then suddenly out of nowhere, a desperate yowling slit through the quiet evening. Jal's ears immediately turned backward and she kept still. Only the unnoticable breeze running lazily through her fur. Her breathing was slow and measured and she was starting to salivate with her prey hanging in her mouth. But she didn't move. She sensed more was coming and she was right. There was another screech, and another one, and more after that. Squeals seemed to light up the early night like firecrackers.
Curiosity shoved at Jal's legs but she shook her head (finally moving) and leaped to the top of her fence. 'You don't get involved in others' business,' She reminded herself. But the thought that somecat might be in trouble froze her limbs and made her whiskers twitch in thought.
With one more quick glance at her house, she dropped the mouse from the fence and jumped back off from the side she had come from. Her ears rippled and she cocked her head. Whatever was happening, somecat was definitely in danger. And she intended to find out why.
Dum dum dum....
Yeah. So I'm trying to decide what this main cat's name should be. Jal sounds kinda weird....
