Actually, the think will be snail mailed. it's been cleared with Steam.

And thus, I am implementing backup Plan B. You no longer need to have your mailing address to be elligible to win the game. What you need now are the following :

- A valid Steam account
- A broadband connection

What will be done now, is that I will activate the product on the deadline and turn it into gifts which will then be credited to the contest winner's account. Everything else still applies.

Okay I got all the reference sheets done for this competition, I think I'll start this thing without further ado.

Premise

The premise is simple, all you have to do is draw a picture of my persona/s and/or main TERRA characters in a setting that involves the Orange Box games or the winter soltice festivities or both. You can do /34/ stuff of them if you like, just so long as it isn't too fucked up or the like...however, there are a few things to note which will be covered in the reference section.

OCs and self-inserts are fine as long as my characters and/or persona/s are still the main focus of the entry/ies. Also, unless I know you as a good friend or better, if you're going to add OCs/self-inserts, absolutely no /34/ shit because that's just creepy.

Phat Loot

"Why?" You may ask. "Why should I waste my talent on your faggoty characters and persona?" Well here is a very good reason, two reasons actually. I got an extra copy of the Orange Box that I am willing to give away, but cannot decide to whom. So if you're a gamer and love first-person shooter games like HL2 or Team Fortress 2 and can't wait to try your hand at Portal, this is your perfect chance to try your chances at getting it.

However, since I will be placing some restrictions on elligibility, not everyone can enter for the game. So I will be placing a second division for those unable to, and the first three of that division will receive a free request from me. Sounds fair enough and everyone wins in that regard.

The winners will be announced on the 25th of December, and the Orange Box will be mailed out on the same day. It could take anywhere between a few weeks to a couple of months for the package to arrive depending on where you live. So be patient.

Rules

- All contestants who enter will be automatically considered to be of the second division (For the prize of free requests) until they can verify their eligibility for the first division. (For the prize of the Orange Box)

- The deadline for entries to be submitted and first division eligibility to be verified will be on the 23rd and 24th of December respectively.

- Contestants who enter should send their entries either via private notes on DeviantArt, SheezyArt or FurryArtPile or e-mail. (Depreciated)

- Contestants who already submitted their entry, but want to verify their first division elligibility must do so in the same contact method they used to enter.

- Contestants are free to opt out of the first division and into the second division or out of the competition altogether if they so wish to and they are free to re-enter if they changed their minds on the matter.

- Contestants are only allowed one entry in one division for the competition, though they are free to change their entry any time.

- Cheaters found will be disqualified and barred from this competition.

These are what you will need in order to be elligible for the first division and win the Orange Box:

- A valid mailing address.
- A short paragraph saying why/how badly you desire a copy and how easily you could have gotten a copy otherwise.
- A working and verifiable steam account. I will add your user name to my Steam friends list and send you a message to verify that you have it.
- Contestants who already own both of the Orange Box exclusive games (Team Fortress 2 and Portals) are inelligible for the first division. Those found out to have already owned said games while trying to apply for the first division will be shunted back into the second divison. Don't try to win what you already own, dudes.

However, that is not the problem, I am no stranger to seeing this kind of stupidity being flung around and it usually are just symptoms to real issues that need to be fixed. First off, you are pompous and egocentric, you can never stand to be told that you could even slightly be wrong or less than perfect, and I cannot abide by that, sorry. I then realised that this is one of the fundamental problems of the furry fandom. It's not the porn, or the lifestylers with their fucked-up fetishes, nor is it the anti-furs and the critical media. It's the fact that the fandom is mostly populated by emotionally-crippled idiots who can't help but create a big spectacle over one trivial problem, and then cry like an overgrown fucking baby, inciting mass feuds, when critisized for their behaviour.

So...what now? What IS my role in the fandom? I identify myself as a furry, despite this mess, but I don't take part in the big fetish spoogefest ( I only on very rare occasions draw smut, believe it or not. ), I don't go to cons, I don't take it as a lifestyle, I'm not nearly as antagonistic as I once thought I was to the fandom. All it is for me is that it's a fun hobby. However, why is it that I care so much about the state of the fandom?

Maybe, for what it's worth, I still find a few people in the fandom who I am glad that I met. They have quickly become my close friends, and they are some of my most beloved friends at that. Maybe, I just want to find more like them and create something promising and wholesome with it. There's so much I want to do with my time here in this world, I don't know where and how to begin.

The mind is a strange thing sometimes.

Personally, I don't think it's so much the concept of homophobia as it is acting upon such bias which I find despicable. Everyone has their beliefs, oppressive or otherwise, and are free to express them, however, they cross a BIG moral line when they act upon such oppressive beliefs.

For some of you who don't know, I came clean with my Gender Dysphoria a couple of weeks ago. However, the reaction was pathetic, my dad doesn't seem to have the full impact of what my condition is reached into his head, my mother doesn't believe me. ( I think she does, but denies it. ) I had my reservations about telling my sis, but I'm glad I told her. No longer do I have to keep everything to my self, so it's pretty cool, my sis made friends with my girlfriend, I think so that's even more awesome. I still have to keep stuff away from Mum though, ironically, she's the least tolerant of everything I do.

I managed to install the scanner and tablet to my sis' PC so I'm able to work on some of the requests. ( I can't work on the adult stuff and yaoi/yuri drawings, because I can't risk Mum walking in on me doing that stuff, she hates that stuff. )

- Stuff

I think I have anough material to start a joint account with my GF. It'll be an account where we'll showcase our ongoing project stuff, so stay tuned. My ongoing project would be an Anthro webcomic set in the future of Earth, I've named it "Terra". ( I know, common name, but i like how it sounds. )

- Rant

I really fucking hate it when some arcade goers show little or no consideration to others waiting for a turn at the machines. I'm talking about those who mash mercilessly on the controllers of the machines, essentially fucking up the controls and damaging the gameplay experience of those who came afterwards. I swear, does it kill those snotbrats to use minimal force to tap the buttons, just a soft press should do. The next one I find abusing the arcade controllers will get a big "Loser" sign superglued to their back.

- Life : Mixed blessings, the good, I gained a lot wisdom hanging around with Janet, she's a cool friend, the peeps at #egscarrot are awesome, God bless them, not to mention my friends at FUS and and the silly loveable buggers at TerraEarth. Doing pretty well in a lot of places, namely drumming, writing music and art, I dunno about writing, but I'm sure I'll do well if I decide to become one. Best of all, me and my girlfriend decided to communicate via snail mail and long distance phone, so this looks very promising in the near future, we need to get on with out lives and make a living for our own. :3 The bad, firstly well, I'm not one to complain but the downside of the communication method with my girl is that she's leaving the net for good, therefore, I wouldn't see her as often, at least I see a good thing out of this in the long run. :3 getting back the life I held back for her and vice versa, we, no I wasn't fair to her leaving her hanging onto the net and keeping her life on hold for me. If you're reading this, Toni, I love you.

- Soapbox : I have nothing much to say here as I am practically busting at the seams in laughter. All I'm gonna say is that, it pays to be open-minded enough to discuss your most grossest details to a homely community you frequent. That way, you wouldn't be embarassed at all when some random troll comes in just to embarass you with some of your "private" details.

Secondly, you may notice that I had put in a disclaimer at the footer in my journal from now. Now, if you must know, I absolutely HATE doing this, but just as big corporations feels the need to protect themselves from costly and often pointless lawsuits, I feel the need to protect my opinions from anyone who happens to find what I say offensive and give me unneccessary trouble because of it. Getting Flipped off Artistically by LockON

I'd like to add a tidbit on the flipside about people who can't take well written critiques, I've seen it quite a few times in the past with quite a few people and it gets frustrating. You know, when that person put "Critic Welcome" or "Critique Encouraged" on their work and then flip out when someone wrote an intense critique?

Just...no...

Seriously, I asked myself many times, "What's the point on opening oneself to critique when they themselves can't take it? Why not select 'Critique Discouraged'" I mean, it doesn't make sense, does it?

*sigh*

I think the main cause of this problem is that said individuals take critiques to their art all too personally and often has the misconception that the critic is critiquing the artist themselves instead of the artist's own work, which usually isn't true. One exception to this case would be when the critic patronizes the artist, usually used when the quality of an artist's work regresses a little, like what happened to me a few times. (Believe me, there are many instances where I took steps back in anatomy and have to relearn what I lost, and it's only after being patronized by a few of my critics that it was brought to my attention. ) Even though, sometimes artists need to develop a thick skin if they're going to post art here, because there WILL be someone who is going to critique your work. Sadly, too few of such people exists nowadays, so the next time I post art in here, promise me one thing : Hit me hard, be as petty as possible, forget my feelings, forget my ego, because you know, you'll be helping me much more than just another 'OmG!11 R0x>< OrZone"

Well, now that I got my new HD iinstalled with WIN XP and all that shizzle, I am ready to get on with the request/trade/collab/offer stuff as well as catching up on making a backstock of pages for A Hero's Tale.

To top it off, ~bleakoblivion bought me 12 months of subscription. o_o So lotsa thanks to him, I'm really glad. n_n

Nothing really worth mentioning here, at least nothing that I felt appropriate to mention in public, except for the fact that I fell slightly ill for the first time in years. Nothing to worry about at all though, just a light fever that went away in a matter of hours. Spending time at the arcades too, playing Drummania and improving on it.

Right now, I am currently stuck on ragging on the hilarity of people freaking out at the sight of plain nudity and ranting about people who you thought to be a friend but then realise later how much of a tosser he/she is so I'll do both.

First off, nudity, I'll start off by stating my personal opinion of it.

I believe that human body is a beautiful thing and the realistion of it is lost to a society that impulsively covers the human body, even at the cost of the wearer's health. I believe that nudity at it's simple form, is innocent and pure, and carries no sexual themes. Just people going about their business, albeit without clothes.

So please explain to me why some people freak out like the apocalypse is coming when they lay eyes on a bare nipple? o_O Do they have some hidden laser cannons I am unaware of? The answer is obviously not, the nipple is a part of the body, just like any other part, so why people scream in mental agony when looking at it escapes me. And if they say it's disguisting, they insult their own bodies, their human race and God's hard work.

People may say that it's purely sexual, that may be so in their minds and it's only half-true, breasts are created so us ladies can feed the young, the fact that it's made sexual is a society-wide fetish that is the most common nowadays, but I'm not talking about the sexual value of boobs, people reacting to the bare sight of knockers as if they died and went not to heaven but instead get stranded on a floating island where they have orgies forever is totally fine, nothing wrong with getting jollies from that.

One more thing that annoys me about those people is that instead of clicking on the back button, they HAVE to comment on it by yelling and cussing at the artist. (Whom I would congratulate for having good artistic tastes. ) ORDERING audaciously to the the piece of art down and/or never do it again, causing trouble and starting a flame war. All that instead of merely stating that as an opinion as a part of a friendly critique. Something like "nudity ain't my taste" would do instead of "ZOMg n1Ppl3S!!11 My 3yEs c0|\/||\/|a th3y bur|\| !1oneoneeleventy!" (Or something to that effect)

EDIT3 : Under the advise of the staff, I edited this section out in case the issue escalates to something I cannot handle. The bridge is burnt, apologies were sent out, further mention of this matter would be pointless.

Oh well, shit happens. I've had been subjected to much worse. ie My mother when drunk.

I'm doing more or less okay, I've been trying to let as many people know about my Gender Dysphoria without my mother knowing. So far 2 of the people whom I talked to IRL knows about my condition, one of them is sorta clueless so I had to explain it, the other one threw in a lot of omg's but took it better than I expected.

Quite nervous telling the people who used to know me as a male, but other than that I'm busy.

Is it just me or are bash clubs conveniently hiding under the guise of anti clubs? Perhaps it's hard to tell them apart, but I'll explain it to you.

Anti-clubs are clubs that talk intelligently and civilly about the reason they dislike a certain thing, and throw around suggestions as to how to improve that thing. They do not promote bashing of the character. The members are fairly open-minded. A good anti-club prohibits bashers and bash pics in their club.

This kind of clubs I promote, even though it's directed at a particular thing I like, because they do have a point I can sometimes see eye-to-eye with. It's this agreeing to disagree mentality of the club that not only makes it tolerable, it sometimes makes it likeable.

Bash-clubs are clubs that nave no other purpose than spread hate of a particular thing they dislike, without offering their reasons. When challenged to provide a reason, they get angered and throw insults around. They usually don't contain any intelligent content or data and it's members are as stubborn as they come, and unwilling to listen to reason. They go for anything that puts the character they hate down, even if it's libelious in nature. Worst of all, they ALWAYS disguise themselves as an anti club, going so far as to pointing fingers at a simillar anti club and calling it a fake anti club.

This kind of clubs are something I don't condone at all as it serves as nothing more than a hive of non-intelligence to fan the flames that rages across every fandom. The fact that it disguises itself as an anti club makes it all the more abhorrent. It's best to stay away from those clubs as you risk losing your intelligence and become one of the many dribbling hate-mongers.

Haven't been doing too much work lately, and the stuff I did are probably too adult-ish to be uploaded to DA, I might open an Sheezy Art account for my yiffy work.

Not going too well for me, I gotta admit. I managed to install XP in my new HD, it seemed like I was gonna enjoy a long time free of computer problems. Nope. One accident after and the HD came collapsing after 3 days and it refused to reinstall. Back in my backup system, things have been falling apart and I have no idea how long my back OS will hold out. To top it off, XJ was MIA for 3 days now, and I am having this terrible heartache, and I'm sick with worry, the last time we talked, she ran off suddenly when I told her I needed sleep. I feel terrible now, feeling that somehow I've up set her. I hope she returns soon.

- Misc:

I shall nominate the song Hikarie from the DrumMania series as best song of the week. It has nice chord progressions, a singer that can hold a high note, a nice melody and overall good structure. Also. it's fun to drum.

My hair, which is quite wild, has grown a lot, and I feel quite attractive with it. Yet some dickheads found it funny to point and laugh at it. I'd understand if it's a kid, but I've seen teenager ditzy girls pointing as well, so I must ask, is society that close-minded and superficial? I for one, wouldn't care, some people are dickheads and I'll be fucked if I let myself be annoyed by it. *Is amused *

This is something I've kept to myself from DA for too long, I've talked about it with the wonderful peeps at TracesofChaos.net and Satamsonic.com but only a couple of people here know what I've been going through. I'm not gonna waste your time with some long-arsed speech and I'm gonna cut to the chase.

I am a female in the body of a male...

In short, I have Gender Dysphoria, my personality, everything that makes up my being is female, I even get monthly recurrent periods of inexplicable pissyness ( ~Rainichan can attest to that.) I somethimes forget that I'm in a male body and get giggle fits at times. Oh and I had a simillar feeling when i was 6 before I pushed it away thinking I was being foolish at that time.

So In short, I am beyond doubt that I am female, despite what my body says otherwise. So you may ask what it's like to be me? In one word, I'll have to say, "damned uncomfortable", When I first figured out about my condition, I was honestly scared, but thanks to the friendly folk at TracesofChaos.net, I have come to terms with my condition. I was given a female identity and is treated as a female as well, which in fact, meant a lot to me. I gained a lot of insight to both gender roles, learned a lot of things that normal people would have overlooked. I also found a few online people who had the same condition as me, I won't name them here to protect my identity, a lot of new friends and above all, I have found a significant other I love and cherish to the deepest of my being. ^_^ I really have to thank God for giving me this odd gift, it make me feel unique and quite with a purpose, although it does hurt at times. The biggest difficulty I have now in dealing with is is resisting the urge to talk about my condition to the peeps I talk to IRL, be it family or friends, I really wanna tell them that my parents never had a son, but an older daughter who was misplaced in a male body, but I can't risk ignoring whatever prejudices they might have against transsexuals. X_x

Now this isn't a cry for help or attention. I just feel the need to tell you peeps a little about myself and I hope you guys wouldn't think any different of me.

To tell you the truth, it's not going too well, two people who I had been proud to call a friend had deeply disappointed me. Normally I wouldn't feel bad and understand it, but the implications of what they had done is quite grave and saddening. I realised that one is an art-thief and the other is a...I'm not gonna say it here, but I tell you that's a terrible thing she did.

Also, my own mother was hospitalised for something real stupid she did, I'm not gonna disclose the details here in public, but I'll mention that it involves a lot of alcoholic drinks and a failed espionage attempt.

I've noticed that a lot of people have been faving my work without leaving so much as a comment, now while I really appreciate the fact that you really like my works, I'd like it if you'd have the courtesy to leave a comment, I'd like to know what you liked and disliked about my works and why it makes it to your fave folders.

I also want to request not to hestitate to leave a critique behind, and not to worry about the intensity. I appreciate the ego patting from the countless praises I get (More than I deserve IMO ), but I indeed place a much higher value on critiques. Thanks in advance ^_^

But I am VERY satisfied with the result and I will really miss working on it.

Here's what I posted in the other forum:

So step one, write down the structure and flow. Since this would be a rock theme, I used the Bass and the Percussion as the carrier for the flow. Go nuts and don't hesitate to use 7th chords. :wink:

Step 2 - Background - Many songs use backgrounds to give the song body, they usually come in chords or arpeggios or both, and they usually involve strings and choirs. There are exceptions, and in this case, a background track isn't necessary. So I'll skip this step in the Process. :silly: EDIT: After further research, this is called Homophony.

Step 3 - Melody - Here's the fun part, this is the life of the song, the inspired part. This is usually where I go nuts and play around with chord harmony and stuff. :biggrin:

Step 4 - Counterpoint: Introduce another melodic or semi-melodic tracks that work independently to the main melody. I also went back to the previous steps and correct the problem with the melodic flow and decided to close the song off at the end instead of looping. :wink:

Step 5 - Effects: Lay some effects down, it can be anything from a cat meowing to an Explosion. XD Right now, it looks like something from a music video (*hint hint*)

Step 6 - Shaping the Notes: In this step, I shaped the notes and how they play by adding pitch bends and changing the velocities of the notes. I also modified the pitch bend sensitivity to increase the number of semitones I can bend to. :wink:

Step 7 - Midi Device setup : In this step, I reset the MIDI device to GS mode to prevent ghosting from other MIDIs, the message is :

FO 41 10 42 12 40 00 7F 00 41 F7

But remember to only use this if you're working with a GS Synthesizer. For GM users, you can use either:

F0 7E 7F 09 01 F7

For GM mode 1, or:

F0 7E 7F 09 03 F7

For GM mode 2.

I also set the intital controller settings and cloned the required tracks. wink.gif For GS users, don't forget to use the NRPN settings to modify and manipulate the indiviual drum patches' Pitch and Panpot settings.

Step 8 - Track Automation: This is where I add the track automation data in the middle of the song, like Volume, Expression Pan, Modulation etc. this is the final refinement of the song and will sound much more polished if done right.

Now that it is all finished, all that is left is to record it. As for me I use Winamp's Disk Writer Plugin and Oggenc.exe to record it to a Vorbis audio file at Quality 0.

So what happened?

- I scanned in my sketchbooks, and plan on uploading them to scraps, as soon as I decide to be less lazy.

- I've made a new song, and will show it as soon as I get a new file host.

- I created characters of what seemed to be a promising story idea.

Tails is actually a girl!

And I'm not talking about my own twisted imagination either, this time I have proof. This time, I KNOW what I'm talking about.

If you would look carefully at Tails, you would find that the hips are wider then the shoulders and there's ample space between the legs. Now if you have at least some knowledge in anatomy, you would find that these are traits you would never find in a male. So I ask this question, what are they smoking when they decided for Tails to be male?

If there's any clubs or deviants who share and support this idea, please let me know! I would greatly appreciate that!

I've gotten through my Religous Studies Examination Certificate Papers without much hassle, considering how badly I suck at that subject. How ironic, though, considering that I'm a devout Christian that this would be my weakest subject.

At first I'm glad that I had a working OS installed on my comp but nooooooo! It had to torture me, it once crashed 5 times consecutively because the stupid OS forgot to update it's registry :-_-: Then when I installed the Graphics card accessories, I got a BSOD saying about a stupid DLL error. As a result I had to perform a system restore and I had to reinstall more stuff.

Right now it's working properly (Gasp!) but for how long, I have no idea. So I'm taking the paranoid and safe way out and backing up my files every few hours.

I hope I could save for a hard disk soon, only God knows when a total HD collapse may occur.

I showed them to a friend today, and she said I was learning FAST, and pointed out the above errors. Oh well, I'm new to this hobby and sure I'll make mistakes, but I shall take it in to myself to improve because it's feel incredibly good to be able to draw! ^_^

The biggest reason why I've not joined before is that I am quite shy at times and am a bit iffy about starting an account with no real material save for my noobish scrawlings , the second reason is that I'm without scanner so all I can show are my P-Chat stuff which, quite frankly, is quite embarassing.

Anyway, I'll be getting around to uploading what little I had quite soon.
