On another note, a few days ago I got a copy of Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter. (The DS Version).

To sum it up, it was fun. Yeah. I actually enjoyed it. My usual cynical tendencies took a back seat to my love of a decent platformer with a good story and an awesome villain (WILFRE IS A GOD PEOPLE. WORSHIP HIM.). Buuuut, there were a few problems. I won;t talk about them here, but my main problem was that like the first game this one was a bit too short. That, and the ending actually threw me for a loop. It takes a LOT to throw me in a loop kids. xD

All in all, I love the game, and I'm actually considering a rental of the Wii version. The DS Version itself is a perfect sequel, and manages to wrap up the series quite nicely...but that means that there's probably never going to be another sequel now....*Sighs* :<

Anyways, I'm still alive, I'm in a better mood than usual (I think it's that damn christmas spirit at work), oh, and it's been snowing for a few days now.....god help me. xwx

....I'm going to gamer hell for this. I just know it. But....I don't really think that this game is the most amazing thing ever made. Let alone, the most amazing Zelda game (That title belongs to either Ocarina Of Time or Link to the Past in my opinion) ever made. I haven't beaten the game yet, but here's why:

1. It doesn't feel like a Zelda game. It just doesn't. I have NO clue why, but as I played through this game...I felt like I was playing a totally different game. Other reviewers are saying that this game is ZOMG TOO MUCH LIKE OCARINA OF TIME, no no no, Ocarina of Time this game is not. Aside from the level order (Forest, Fire, Water, Shadow, Spirit, etc.) the game feels...wrong.

2. The graphics seem a bit too dark. After beating the Lakebed Temple, you're stuck in your wolf form, and when you go to Hyrule Castle town, (carrying a dying Midna no less) it's raining, creepy music plays, and the whole area is grey and dreary. You know what game this reminded me of? Go onto YouTube and look up the game "Rule of Rose". Seriously, after sitting through an entire playthrough of Rule of Rose, as soon as I made it to this point in Twilight Princess, the similarities creeped me out a bit. And don't get me started on the new emo Zelda....jesus...xAx

3. IT'S OVERBLOWN. Okay, even though it's not as huge now, this game has become the FF7 of Zelda....in a sense. All the nOObs and wiiaboos are going all ga-ga over this game, and are going on about how it's "TEH B3$T G@ME 3V@R L0L L337" and I'm sitting back and shaking my head in shame. Too rub salt in my wounds, in an Issue of Nintendo Power Twilight Princess won a shitload of random awards, one of which was "Best new character: Midna"....iffff by "Best new CHaracter" they meant "Best excuse to draw moar pRonZ" then sure, she wins that prize. (Before you freak out, I have nothing against Midna. So cool your jets fanboys.)

4. The Wolf Thing. *Headdesk, headdesk, headdesk* WHY!? WHY!? WHY DID THEY DO THIS!? Ugh....now, I admit that this was a neat idea but....why did it have to be in a Zelda game? Think back to Link to the Past. If you didn't have the right item, and you entered the dark world, you turned into a bunny....but no, in "Hyrule of Rose" you turn into a wolf. (And yes, I could make a million HE'S MIDNA'S BETCH jokes, but I won't....not today anyways B3) If they basically wanted to re-do the Dark World concept, then they could have just turned link into an epic looking rabbit or something. The wolf parts are only used to replace the need for Epona and Ocarina's anyways, so whatever...

5. The Twilight creatures are Ing ripoffs. Let me get this straight....a world of darkness...filled with dark creatures that want to conquer the Light world.....WHERE HAVE I HEARD THAT BEFORE?.... Seriously folks, before you ride me on this, go look at Metroid Prime 2, and then look at Twilight Princess. I'm sorry, but I just notice weird things like this, and it drives me crazy sometimes. |3

6. Ganadorf's Braids....Mon. Wtf is with that hair man!? C'mon Ganadorf! YOU TOOK OVER THE WORLD! YOU GREW AWESOME LOOKING HAIR IN OCARINA OF TIME! WHY THE HELL DID YOU GO AND GET BRAIDS!? xDDD Oi....although his look is retarded in my opinion, I'll admit he's still as bad ass as he was in OOT. (Srsly, he survives a stab wound, pulls out his chains from the wall, and pwns a Sage with the sword he was just stabbed with....

I know I'm going to get in a lot of shit for this mini-review, but I had to talk about this sooner or later. The game IS good....but it's not as amazing as everyone loves to think it is. If you want an amazing Zelda game, go play Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, or Link to the Past. Hell, you can even play Zelda II. At least Zelda II managed to try something new. x'3

The Good:

-My laptop's back in action, and it's been cleaned out completely this time.

-I have a ton of things to scan.

-It's December. Christmas is coming up. Huzzah.

-I've been a lot more inspired lately, which means I'll be able to draw more crap. B3



The Bad:

-Like I said, EVERYTHING was cleaned out. One such item was 'Cave Story', which means that I have to download, install, and start it all over again. >A<

-At this point I'm on edge every time a pop-up or anything appears, since my computer seems to catch viruses like it has AIDS. xAx (My apology to AIDS victims everywhere. ;; )

-All my pictures and files were moved around. (Luckily though, they're all still here).

-My Internet browser downgraded to version 7. (I use Internet Explorer), so I have to update that all over again.

-My MP4 may be carrying the virus that fried my computer, so I either have to get it checked or delete EVERYTHING on it. (And trust me, there's a LOT in my MP4.) To make matters worse, the battery is low, meaning I have to charge it, maening that even if I have to delete everything, I have to risk the chance of the bug passing on to my computer again just to charge the piece of crap. xnx

-With Christmas comes the usual bullshit with my DevWatch filling up with the gifts that the DA celebrities I watch send eachother. And don't go chewing me out for complaining about it, because I know it bugs you guys too. |S

-I may be more inspired, but that doesn't necessarily mean that anyone will bother to look at a quarter of the stuff I plan on posting.


So yeah, I'm on edge, I'm still sick (The common cold is a BITCH), I'm tired, and I've got a crapload of Christmas stuff to draw.

First off, I'd like to state that I absolutely LOVED the first Kingdom Hearts game. It was amazing. The first time I played it, my mind was blown at how good it was. The idea of taking a random hero, sending him on a journey to defeat creatures called "The Heartless", and travelling to DISNEY MOVIE WORLDS to defeat them was like one gigantic mindgasm of awesome. It took me quite a bit to beat it the first time through, but it was worth it...aside from the whole Sephiroth raping me and ripping me a new one in the Platinum Cup....yeah....

Anyways, when I heard about the second Kingdom Hearts, I was actually pretty excited. I mean, now you have to fight TWO armies of evil!? And there's MORE Disney goodness!? FUCK YES. SIGN ME UP....then I started playing.

THE BAD:

1. The Intro Level. Jesus. Christ. I spent well over an hour and a half of game time stuck in this idiotic intro loop. Now, if you haven't played the spin-off game Chain of Memories (WHICH I HAVEN'T) then a few things in the intro don't even make too much sense. Mainly, the whole, SORA IS FROZEN IN TIME RIGHT BESIDE WALT DISNEY (Note, the Walt Disney ref is a joke alright? He isn't in the game. xD) thing. So instead, you start out as Roxas. (Hint hint: SORA X) who lives with a stereotypical group of anime kids. Hooray. Now, I kinda like Roxas. I like the idea that when Sora is turned into a Heartless in the first game (Long story, look it up) he gets a Nobody as well. Roxas is that Nobody. Annnd instead of fighting invincible Heartless at the start, you fight invincible Nobodies....ugh...my main problem with the intro stage is that it's WAAAAAAAAAY too long compared to Destiny Islands, and it seems like the only reason they created the place was to shove in some Anime parodies for the Wiiaboos.

2. The Action Commands. This was my second main problem, the action commands take a game that could have required strategy and thought, and dumbed it down into one long timing puzzle. Seriously, name ONE boss fight in KH2 that didn't involve mashing the triangle button to deal RIDICULOUS amounts of damage. The action commands ruined the game for me. It made the fight with the Hydra from Hercules easier than it should have been. And that's just wrong....oh, and speaking of timing puzzles...

3. ATLANTICA. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED? Back in KH1 Atlantica was the standard Underwater annoying level with standard stereotype enemies....now...well, let me give it to you straight. Y'know that nice keyblade you were hoping to shove up Ursala's ass this time around? Yeah. You can't even use it. There's no attack option in this area. Instead, all of the events in this area are orcestrated (LITERALLY) by some sons that play in each "Chapter" of the level. As you gain new abilities Sebastian (WHO'S DA MON BTW.) allows you to proress through the stage some more. Think of this area as one big DDR/simon says world. I will give the designer's credit though, the songs are very well orchestrated and even Sora seems to have a somewhat decent singing voice.

4. The Nobodies making the Heartless their bitches. I love the Heartless. They're dark, cartoony, and they have an amazing range of designs depending on what level you encounter them on....the only problem is that they're pussies in this game. Yeah. The Heartless are like the wild animals from the reserve. The Nobodies however, are decked out SO much, that the weakest ones can literally pwn entire groups of Heartless in one hit. This pissed me off to no end. In KH1 the Heartless were ABSOLUTE BEASTS, and didn't take shit from ANYONE, not even from MALEFICENT. DAMN. But no, thanks to the Nobodies (And Maleficent's inability to keep them under fucking control) the Heartless are total jokes in this game after the first half.

5. Organization XIII. I only have one reason for why this group was included. To appeal to the otaku and anime fiends. These guys are the main focus, not the Disney villains. They stal the fucking show. My main problem is that they're obviously anime humans. Why couldn't they be anthro or larger intelligent versions of the Nobody's they control!? That way, Roxas would stand out more, and would have even MORE credibility as a Nobody that defects from the group! Seriously kids, I hated this group. I love their theme, love the idea, hate the way they went with it. Hell, I could live with the whole Xenmas thing, it makes sense. But an ENTIRE GROUP OF HUMANOID NOBODY BOSSES? Ugh...just...just forget it...

6. The Levels: All the Disney elements are skimmed over in this game. In KH1 the Disney refs were so blatantly obvious that it actually made you love the company all over again. But, in KH2 they seem to care more about FINAL FANTASY characters. Okay, KH1 had a couple, but KH2? Ugh, it actually makes Sephiroth a fucking plot point near the middle of the game. Anyways, I managed to get some junk done, I've been playing the hell out of Kingdom Hearts 2 (Expect a rant about that game in the future), and I've got a new Halloween story ready for posting if you guys want it.

-A new Halloween story featuring Future Jokerz and Future Felix is ready, but it's got some nasty stuff in it, and I have to be sure that you guys want me to post it.

-A new series of pics for a game idea of mine are ready for scanning and posting, once again, only if you guys want it.

Now, I want to address a little problem involving RPs (Anyone here on DA who doesn't use the forums I do can skim over this if you want). Over at the site I'm currently using, people have started churning out 1x1's in the forums. Umm....that's nice and all...but, why in the HELL would you post 1x1's in AN OPEN RP BOARD. It's not rocket science people, we don;t need 1x1's that we can't join further adding to the ridiculous amount of unfinished, forgotten, and new RPs. And I might as well add that not only has the Arena board remained un-edited for the past few months, but no one's invited me to an arena RP yet, so, yeah, thanks for caring guys.

OH, I've also recently been given Admin power on said RP site, so, HUZZAH. xD

The problem? I slept from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., so I didn't exactly get to fool around on my "day off". XD But I think what really broke me down was that...well...allow me to explain:

Recently my grandmother has been sick. When she went to the doctors before they found tumors in her lungs. Well, today I found out that they were, indeed, lung cancer. And yes, I broke down crying as soon as I found out. But in all honesty, as soon as I heard she had the tumors in the first place my heart sank faster than the Titanic. The fact that it's lung cancer just took my heart and opened a crevice beneath it so it could sink further into the depths.

And to complete the shitty day cocktail, another little newbie decided to flame an old journal that I honestly forgot about. Yeah. I was really in the mood for that after hearing that my grandmother has cancer. Thanks DA. Thanks a lot. :3

At this point though, I've been flamed and insulted by so many sorry bastards and bimbos that I just shrugged it off and blocked the poor sod. When I think about it, there are people who have recieved even more complaints and spam comments than me *coughSPOONYcough* so I don't give a shit anymore. |3

Anyways, on to a different topic: Kit's Play.

Now, anyone who's followed me since day one knows what this series is all about. Every Halloween I write up a Child's Play parodying story about Ridley J. Fox, a serial killer fox doll that kills off various Sonic characters all the while trying to kill Niles, the kit who survived his rampage in the first story. This year....I'm not doing a Kit's Play story.

After Kit's Play 2, in OOC chats mostly, Ridley's character has changed quite a bit. He's no longer just the kill crazy bastard he was in the first story. He actually has repented...sort of. He's still a villain, but not as much as he was. And no, he's not an "Anti-Hero".

Now, I know what you're thinking: WTF JOKERZ YOU MORON. YOU ALREADY HAD THE TITLE PAGE DONE AND EVERYTHING. GO BACK TO YOUR CELL AND STOP HIDING YOUR PILLS UNDER YOUR PILLOW. LOL. But in all honesty, I killed off the characters I wanted dead. Hell, I even killed MYSELF in Kit's Play 2!

Aside from that, the real reason I just can't write it this year is because at the same time I'm currently working on .:Wonderland:., which I really want to get off the ground. INSTEAD. I HAVE A COMPRIMISE.I've recently gotten a sick idea based on another horror movie: HOSTEL. And if that isn't bad enough, I've even found a way to involve Dragons, and those evil mice from those old Porky Pig and Sylvester cartoons....y'know, the ones where they buy a mansion and the mice spend the entire cartoon trying to kill Porky....look it up on YouTube or something. So, should I write this? And, should I write it and post it on DeviantArt? If I'm going to write this, then it's going to be as sick and graphic as I can make it.

On a final note, should I do more reviews? and if so, what kind of things do you people want me to review?

Yeah....I'm going to blame this game for my recent lack in any real activity...though you've got to admit, I've been posting a bit more than I did over the Summer. |D As you guys should know, I've been a huge Mario/Nintendo fan since I was a little kid, so when a Mario game that ISN'T FUCKING SPORTS OR RACING RELATED comes out, I try it out for myself, and if I like it: CHA-CHING. A few more dollars for Nintendo of America. |3

Now, I'm going to be honest, I didn't like Mario and Luigi 2 as much as Superstar Saga. Even though I LOVED the Shroobs, the Dark atmosphere of the nearly dominated Mushroom Kingdom of the Past, and the weird ass bosses created by the Shroobs....the game was really missing some things that the original game had. So, I walked into Bowser's Inside Story not really expecting an OMGIJUSTORGASMEDFROMTHEAWESOME game, but at least a decent game that'll keep me playing....and god DAMN have I been playing. oAo 'll talk more about M&L2 another time, but for now I'm going to focus on 3.

THE GOOD
------------------

1. The Villain: I loved Cackletta and the Shroob Sisters....but they don't hold a MATCH to Fawful. Not only is this guy totally out of his fucking mind, but he's also the first Mario villain other than Bowser to completely PWN the Mushroom Kingdom AND Bowser's Castle! At first I was kind of skeptical about Fawful, one of the most annoying characters from the first game, and definitely the biggest WTF in the second, being the main villain of this game.....but after a few minutes of witnessing his reign of FURY I've fallen in love with the crazy bastard.

2. Difficulty: Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga was a tough S.O.B the first time through. I will always admit that there were multiple times where M&L would kick my ass mercilessly, ESPECIALLY in Bowletta's Castle. Mario and Luigi Partner's In Time had the same problem, once again multiplied 10x over by the time you reach the final castle. M&L3? I've only died twice. And I'm at the final "Chapter" so to speak.....and yes, this is a bad thing too, but luckily my cockiness was my undoing during a boss fight in Bowser's brain.....don't ask. Unlike my first playthroughs of the first two games, this time around I killed everything I came across in the first few sections. Quick tip to all you people who are planning on playing a Mario&Luigi game: GRIND EARLY. When I played the first two, I avoided most of the enemies, and I payed for it when I got to the bosses and my levels were too low to even hurt them. I'm looking at you Cackletta and Swiggler. |P But when I played the 3rd game I basically fragged every monster I met.....up until the final level...but I'll get more into it later.

3. Plot: It starts out as a "save the kingdom from a disease" plot...then it moves on to "Evil Genius takes over" plot...annnd it's got the usual Mario "DARKEST POWER IN TEH WORLD MUST BE STOPPED LOL" plot near the end. Even though it was a LOT more lighthearted than the Second game....it gets freakin' dark when *SPOILERS* Bowser returns to his castle early on, and all his minions act like Fawful gave them all frontal lobe lobotamies. Seriously, it's easily the creepiest part of the game. oAo Unlike Cackletta, Fawful managed to re-decorate both Bowser, AND Peach's castles...mostly by drawing swirly glasses or his face on statues, banners, etc. However, the plot gets a bit well....meh, when th Dark Star gets involved. The Dark Star is basically the "Chaos that was Garland from the start of the game" character that ends up being the final boss. And before you go: JOKERZ YOU BAD FOX YOU SPOILED THE ENDIING GO STUFF YOUR BALLGAG BACK IN YOUR SPOILING MOUTH, I should note that when it comes to this final boss, it was HORRIBLY spoiled by about a million vids on YouTube, and, of course, MarioWiki. So STFU and go cry to them. It's like when they added Master Porky to SSBB. If it helps, I personally feel that the final boss (Even though I haven't reached him) was spoiled for me. THanks YouTube and MarioWiki. :3....bastards.

4. BOSSES: Luckily, no one had the balls to post vids of the other weird ass and awesome bosses (At least, I haven't seen any vids) in this game. Unlike the final boss, I had very little info on what exactly I was going up against when I started. I avoided the boss articles on M.Wiki until I beat the boss I was looking up, to avoid too many spoilers. But hell, even with the wiki some things surprised me. I'm not going to spoil anything, but I'm just going to say that this batch of bosses was one of the better ones (If not the best) the M&L series has brought forth....I'm glaring at you Commander Shroob and Jojora's Friend. <_<

5: Attacks and Items: Meh. Today's Subject: YOU FUCKING OVER OBSESSING FANBOYS AND FANGIRLS.

Now I KNOW I'm not the first person to talk about this. But for god's sake, all you people out there who think that every new Sonic game is gold, Shadow is actually a likable character, or that Final Fantasy VII is the most amazing thing ever, or that Twilight was actually a good movie, I only have one thing to say: S.T.F.U.

I've ranted and raved about fanfags and fansluts well, ever since I started here. But today one underaged bitch managed to push my hate over the edge and has convinced me that I CANNOT enjoy any franchise, any comic, ANYTHING without getting bombarded by spam and bitching from over obsessing fan freaks who need to take a fucking pill and leave other fans alone.

So yeah, I'd like to thank "dark-water-angel" for finally convincing me that there's no such thing as a good fan. Of anything. Wether it be sports or games, or even comics.

Here's a little list of my fandoms and how they were ruined by the fanfreaks. :3

Sonic: Ruined by the purists and nOObs who hate on fan characters, go around spamming RPs, bitch about how there's a lack of Sonic, but THEN bitch about how no one can RP him (Yeah, that's not self conflicting in the slightest now is it? |D), worship the porn characters who consist mostly of re-colours anyways, and think that Shadow is Sonic's rival. In case you nOObs didn't know, that title belongs to either Scourge the Hedgehog or Knuckles. Read the comics, or play the first few games. Thank you.

Earthbound and Mother 3: Ruined by the fanboys and fangirls who spammed the anthro characters I created based on the games. Yeah, these are the same little bastards that inspired me to incude the "No bitching" rule in every pic.

The Legend of Spyro: This one was ruined in a different way, at first I loved the plot, the dark atmosphere, and yes, even the porn. One particular artist (Whom I have great respect for despite this incident) though, managed to convince all the retros who enjoyed the game to turn their backs to it. But even that artist was being pestered by Newfags and underaged Wiiaboos, so I still blame them. |3

JACK: ....okay, this series hasn't REALLY been ruined for me. But, I've taken a look at the forum and a few fans are already getting bitchy about the recent lack of updates. Look, Mr. Hopkins is a human being, and he's going through a tough time right now. Give the poor guy a break and eventually the comic will be up and running again. Alright? Now, where does this fit into how it's ruining it for ME? Well, an already named/mention apparent fan decided to flame a pic a worked my ass off on. And I understand that Rob looks too much like Bob, and I'm still trying to fix the design to make him different. BUT, the sheer immaturity of dark-water-angel's comment is what I found insulting. Next time kid, do yourself a favor and bug someone who has time for your BS. And yes, this immature fangirl got an instantblock. |3


By bitching about this, I'm probably acting like a bit of a fanboy myself. But you now what? I'm personally SICK, and I mean like, throwing up SICK, of all the fangirls and fanboys who have been ruining the things I, and I'm sure YOU, used to enjoy.

Now before you guys freak out I'm going to be blunt here: I have a lot of characters with some sort of power or another. However, I have quite a few villains that have close to no powers or real abilities.

Another problem is the difference between "Powers", "Weapons", "Abilities", and "Author Powers". I know that pretty much all of these can go under Powers, but you need to know that these different classes have different effects and effectiveness levels in RPs, particularely in Sonic RPs. And no, I'm not targeting one person in particular. I just need to talk about this....and I'm bored and need to type something off the top of my head....hooray?

POWERS
------------
"Powers", are usually strange or magical Abilities that are gained or earned in one way or another. The perfect examples of powers are any attacks or defensive moves using the Elements. Any moves using the powers of Earth, Wind, Fire, or Water (BY YOUR POWERS COMBINED- *Shot* ) can count as powers. Now, back in the Neo days Elemental powers were actually held back a bit and were extremely useful for villains and heroes alike to use. Nowadays though, elemental powers are a joke. Because they're more of a basic form of magic/technology that all characters can use in some way.

Example: My character Hate the Breegull. Fire is his main element, and whenever he gets pissed off he's able to use fire spells at will. After he calms down though, he loses his unlimited spell cheat and is forced to ration his attacks to slashing and fighting in hand to hand combat.

Problems: Characters who can use all of the elements can be really annoying sometimes. Especially if I'm using a character that controls only one element, or has o powers at all. Now, if it's a villain/Hero that has an easy weakness (i.e: Can't fight hand to hand, has no other abilities) it's acceptable in my book. But if the character not only has every element, but has other powers and abilities to re-inforce his/her self and make hurting the character nearly impossible to kill, then it's unfair.

WEAPONS
---------

A weapon in RPs can range from missle launchers to guns, to knives or swords, ad even lasers. In Sonic RPs it's usually only villains who use these, especially robots and soldiers in vast armies. Heroes who use weapoons prmarily use swords and knives, while villains use anything that goes boom. I might as well add that any powers that need technology or robotic features to work go under the Weapons class.

Example: KAOS2, my robot villain. He uses mulitple weapons and explosives to fight. Since he's such a large target, he's equipped with an endless supply of different weapons to defend himself and attack enemies.

Problems: Weapons can be absolutely useless in RPs unless used properly. Guns and knives are useless becuse 70% of the time characters are naturally created with some sort of armor or healing ability that makes small slashes and bullets a joke. Also, guns and swords can be chopped up or destroyed during fights. Besides, in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe, weapons and technology are always faulty or defective in some way, hell, even the heroes have constant problems with electronics. XD Needless to say, when using a weapons charrie, unless your character is able to use weapons to their advatage, you're pretty much screwed. (But it still works for cannon fodder characters like soldiers sooo....meh.)

ABILITIES
-----------

Here's a tough one, abilities can count as physical or natural attacks or powers that characters are born with/able too perform using their bodies. Fighting styles, speed, and skin/scale defenses can be put under this class. Super strength and "Sonic Speed" can go under this too.

Example: Damien the Fox. My powerless crime lord character that ruled over a dystopian city. Damien was only able to use guns and his indestructable cane to fight. He had no elemental abilities, he had goons do his fighting for him, and when he DID have to fight himself he used his fists.

Problems: Natural abilities are as useless as weapons when fighting characters that can become hot as fire or can electrify themselves. When combined with certain weapons or powers though, natural abilities can be deadly. Abilities like super speed can be sort of useful, but are often more annoying since with super speed you can dodge most attacks. Super strentgh, as long as there's a limit, can be a fairly useful ability that most characters can have at points.

AUTHOR POWERS
---------------

This is another tough one that can vary from person to person. An author character is literally (And normally) a God amongst the other characters. The Bad
------------

1. It's only got six levels. Seven if you include the unlockable secret stage, but even that's just a room where you can re-fight the bosses. My current record for beating the game is about 2 hours. XD

2. No Plot. The basic plot is simply that a chameleon follows a white rabbit (Alice in Wonderland ref ftw) down a magic pot and ends up in a strange world where said chameleon is given an altered anthromorphic form....after that....well...I can only guess that the rabbit simply let the chameleon follow it around the six worlds to defeat the tyrants at the end. If anyone knows the actual plot, then please tell me, because I'm damn curious about what it is. XD

3. DIFFICULTY. I know what you're thinking. A six level game with no plot? Easy as shit right? Oh f*** no. This game gets tough as early as the second stage. Now, I'm using an emulator mind you, so certain areas (IE: Areas with thin paths over pits of death) are WAY more difficult than they'd be on a regular N64. Add that with the unusual controls (The tongue pullvault drove me insane the first time around) and stiff camera angles, it can be a lot tougher than it looks.

4. Level 3....I mean 2....what? Okay, I don't know if this is an emulator/ROM f***up, but after I cleared Stage 1 (Jungle Land) Two more levels were open.....sort of. Level 3 (Bomb Land) and Level 2 (Ant Land). The problem? Level "2" was inaccessable. I tried pressing all the directional buttons on my keyboard, but the level was unplayable until I beat the Bomb Land boss. Even in the "Secret" boss world, the Bomb Land boss is right after the Jungle Land one. Soooo, it's either a mess up on my ROM's part....or the level designers f***ed up. |D

5. World 5. Ironically enough, named Kid Land.....that's a load of BS already. xAx World 5 is an unholy hell hole of glitches, bad camera angles, and frustrating puzzles, that nearly drove me to smashing my laptop over a puppy's head. Basically, take everything from complaint #3, and multiply it times ten. Then add a dessert theme and kidstchy music and you've got World 5. Even the final stage is easier than World 5! And yes, I used an invincibility cheat for this level....okay for the whole game, but even THEN it was hard as hell!

The Good
-----------

1. The Bosses are somewhat creative, rangin from a gorilla with sunglasses to an evil cake.....I'm dead serious. The bosses are ironically the easiest things in the game too. Which is a godsend (Especially after what I went through in World 5...*shudders*) on it's own.

2. The short length. I know I complained about the length, but seeing how hard it gets, it's a damn good thing they only made it 6-7 levels long. xAx

3. Easy Amount of Collectables. I hate collecting shit in games to unlock junk. I really do. Luckily, the only collectable things in this game, are crowns. And best of all, you only need twenty crowns from every stage to unlock the Boss Arena stage (World "7"). The crowns themselves are easy as hell to find, except for maybe in the last few stages. and the fact that you only need 20 out of 22-25 is (Once again) a godsend. My only complaint with this is the fact that you can't grab the crowns with your tongue. You usually have to tread thin/dangerous terrain and grab it with your bare hands....er....gloved paws.

4. Multiplayer. Yep. It has multiplayer....I can't use it because I use an emulator...but it has multiplayer...|D


FINAL VERDICT
----------------

Mehhh......3.5/5. It gets too hard at points, the emulator controls are hellishly tough at times, ad the camera is clunky. The lack of plot is a bit of a let down too. Still, it can be fun at times as well, and the boss fights are awesome and unique each time. Finally, the concept itself is kind of neat when you really think about it. Should you buy it? Well....if you have an emulator for an N64, then give it a try. I wouldn't suggest buying it from a pawn shop though. Ad if you already have it, then hats off to you. |D

First, I'd like to apologize to my friends on the boards for vanishing lately, I'm not quitting RPing, I'm just taking a break this week so I can relax. I also have to get myself ready for school, which starts in a few weeks....shit. xAx As well, my future RP has come to a complete halt anyways, but that's the last thing really on my mind. |D

Second, I'm still drawing, sketching, and creating stuff for DA....I've just been too lazy to post it. Sooooo, expect an art dump sometime either this month or in September. It's mostly more Project Chimera stuff anyways. |D

Also, I'm a bit curious, does anyone know a decent graphic novel/webcomic I could read? And before anyone starts off with: WELL I'VE BEEN WORKING ON A COMIC. No, I mean a webcomic series or graphic novel that's already been made, and isn't just posted here on DA. I don't want a million artists promoting their own stuff on my journal. And don't suggest sprite comics please, I've read so many sprite comics that they've started blending together. xAx (No, I'm not dissing sprite comics either, I've just read so many that I'm a bit tired of them.)

Firstly, the place I'm RPing on now....well...it's chaotic to say the least. There's WAAAAAAYYYYYYY too many RPs going on at once. I just can't keep up. If I take even a three second break I miss everything. I can try, but I can't keep up with 20 RPs at one time. Both me, and my laptop can only take so much. Right now I think I'm in at least 4 different RPs....and sadly, it's close to my limit. And that's only on the other site. Luckily, there's at least one person on one of the boards who takes the time to let me think before I post (And once again I thank him for it). Then, I decided to take a look at the number of "Tournament" Boards....no one ever invited me? No one wanted to face one of my characters? Apparently not. These are all people from Neo too btw (Big surprise eh?) so that fact that on one even asks me to RP with them anymore...well....that actually hurts quite a bit.

Secondly, the fighting started again. It's the same people as the boards here (of course) and once again it's just adding to the overall stress of RPing. Not only that, but a certain person on the boards there has been a bit nastier than usual too. This person gets upset a bit too easily and tries to grab attention by threatening to leave whenever this individual feels he/she is being ignored. But I'm sure I've pointed that out there before...if anyone even noticed. Still, I'm dealing with it I suppose.

Yesterday night I pretty much lost it too. I had 50 things going on at one time both in the chatroom and irl, but everyone else was too busy screwing around to really give a shit. And of course as soon as I snapped they wanted to know what was wrong.....for about a second. Then most of them just moved on like I didn't exist. Once again, one more person was still worried about me though, which gives me some hope I suppose.

Next, that damn C-Box. Basically, it's a DA chatroom....only smaller. Like a shoutbox almost. If I don't talk enough in a C-Box my message can be swamped by useless spam and idiocy. That, or I'll be ignored completely....again. With all the shit going on at once...it's hard to really be noticed anyways.

I know most people are just going to look at this like it's just another pointless emo bitching journal, but, in all honesty, this is exactly what's going throgh my head right now. I've thought about quitting RPing period. I honestly have. But I don't want to.....yet. At the rate I'm turning invisible and becoming less and less needed or wanted though....I really might not have another choice. I really think no one's going to bother reading this either. No. No one is going to read this whole thing. Whatever. If you do manage to read this though, then I salute your patience and dedication.

I love emulators. It saves me the trouble of buying an old and hard as hell to find game and best of all, IT'S FREE. YAY. But, with great (And free) power comes great problems.

#10 -MAME: I hate these emulators with a vengeance. Why? There are too many versions, too many "corrupted" ROMs, and I always have to find a goddamn guide to use them.

#9 -Crashes: This doesn't happen as much as it could, but when it does, I get pissed. A crash is simply when the emulator decides "fuck this, I give up" and dies. It's even worse if you forgot to save, or if your save state is erased with the crash.

#8 -Glitches: Okay, since it's a program used to mimic an actual game system I shouldn;t expect it to be perfect, but jesus christ some of the glitches are more annoying than others. For example, the ROM for Conker's Bad Fur Day I have has three distinct glitches that bug me. 1, Conker's eye expressions/changes are glitched by polygons. This is really annoying when he's trying to change facial expressions during gameplay. 2, whenever you pause the background of the pause screen actually has T.V. static....only it doesn't go "SSSSHHHHHHHHHHH" and doesn't move. 3, this same static appears in the multiplayer mode whenever you do a slo-mo kill with the katana or chainsaw.

#7 -Links to Protected Games: .....what's the point? Why the hell would a website that is giving away these ROMs (I personally use CoolROMS, so I don't know if other sites do this) actually go and leave the link to a ROM that they don't even have/can't distribute anymore? It's idiotic to say the least. |P

#6 -Setting the Controls for an N64 Emulator: Personally, I think I've memorized the controls I've set for my NES ans SNES emulators...but the N64....god....it's a nightmare. Think of it this way: An N64 has more than 7 buttons on it's controller. A,B,Z,the four C buttons, the pause button, and the L&R buttons. Then you have to set the control stick (Which is easy enough, I use the four directional buttons on my keyboard....duh). And THEN, you have to memorize it....someone shoot me now. xAx

#5 -Cheats for NES and SNES Emulators: ....there's no easy cheat options? I actually have to go and find game genie codes?...bullshit. Luckily, most of the time Project 64 (N64 Emulator) usually has a preset list of cheats available. But for the NES and SNES emulators...bleh.

#4 -Faulty Save States: I understand that these things make the games a MILLION times easier....but when they don't work, you're screwed. Say you're in the middle of fighting a tough boss, or lost, and there's no save room/anything in site. You use the save state and do whatever, come back, and it's GONE....FFFFF.

#3 -Corrupted ROMS: In otherwords, ROMs that either don't work, are broken in some way, or have REALLY bad glitches. I've come across god knows how many of these and every one of them has pissed me off even more each time.

#2 -MAME ROMS and File Type Problems: God. Damn. These. ROMS. Pretty much every ROM for my current MAME emulator is either "corrupt", or isn't the right "file type" for the emulator to work. Can't someone just post a universal ROM type that ANY respective emulator can use?....please?

#1 -AIMING WITH THE N64 EMULATOR: This is the one thing that grinds my gears most of all about the Project 64 emulator I use. Whenever I try to aim at something, my crosshair shoots across the screen, and NEVER points at the target. Sometimes I get lucky, but most of the time, no. This is a fatal flaw in any shooter/action ROM for the N64 emulator in my opinion. Why is it so hard to aim? Simple. The control scheme I use for my emulator is made up of keys rather than buttons, mainly, the four directional keys which replace the control stick. So, since I can't hold the keys still when I click them, unlike the stick they emulate, the ROM thinks I'm simply jamming the stick in one direction. When I'm trying to shoot a CPU in Conker's Bad Fur Day or Banjo Tooie (Mr. Patch and Lord Woo Fak Fak are definitely harder on an emulator without an infinite health cheat) it's way harder than it should be. I know I could buy a controller or something for my computer to solve this, but if I honestly had the money for that then why the hell would I download the ROMS and Emulators in the first place? XD

Okay, now for the rant. Today's subject: Nickolodean.

Oh yeah. You saw this coming. I'm going to be perfectly honest, from the start I didn't really like Nickolodean. Their cartoons looked....the best way I could possibly describe this is...ugly. THe animation and art didn't really appeal to me. Especially shows like Rugrats and Doug. I just didn't like them. Period. I preferred shows like Darkwing Duck, Alladin, hell, anything from Disney basically. Looney Tunes and Flinstones and occasionally the Jetsons pop into my head sometimes too. Oh, and of course: Beasties. Basically, Beasties was Transformers...only instead of vehicles they turned into animals.....EPIC.

Back on track, nowadays there are only 2 companies known for their cartoons in my opinion: Nickolodean, and the bastards at Teletoon who keep making shows like 6Teen and Total Drama Island. Like 4Kids, they recycle a few voice actors here and there, and try to relate to their tween audience...key word being "try".

You can spot a modern Nicktoon a mile away. Look for the following signs after watching either Spongebob or Fairly Odd parents:

-Large googley eyes.

-Similar artwork to Fairly Odd Parents or Spongebob.

-Overuse of Crude humor that would make Oscar the Grouch groan in disbelief.

-A single character has to be dumb as shit, but not retarded.

-All of the villains wish to take over the world, but seriously lack the means to do so.

-Overuses of random jokes worthy of a board at 4Chan. (XD)

If a cartoon contains more than 3 of these elements: YOU GOT A NICKTOON.

....at least a modern one. Still, back in the day NickToons still had that lingering 'All the shows seem similar in one way or another' feel to them. It was almost ALWAYS because of the overuse of crude humor. This was back when crude humor was actually a bit funny. Nowadays crude humor is just that. Crude. And the overuse of randomness only makes the shows nowadays much less appealing to watch...in my opinion of course.

In otherwords, Nicktoons were never the best in my opinion. Disney had it made until Pixar raped their consience. And I still prefer to watch cartoons on YouTube rather than the shit on T.V. now.

Moving on to the next problem: VIACOM.

What can I say that hasn't been said? Viacom is a group of tightwads and bastards who ruin every website they touch. A prime example is Neopets.

Before Viacom:

-Everything was free.

-RP's Were Fun.

-The site had only minor bugs.

-Everyone was happy.

After Viacom:

-The NC Mall was born, forcing kids to pay REAL MONEY to put clothing on their non-existant pets.

-People on the boards were getting suspended and frozen left and right. And the lag made it impossible to RP properly.

-The site has major bugs now, especially with lag.

-Everyone is pissed.

Viacom seems to have this idiotic mission to make everything as kid friendly and sugery sweet as possible, as well as finding ways to rip off their clients at the same time.

YouTube? Yeah. As far as I know: Owned by Viacom. And like the boards on Neo, people are getting kicked off left and right. Music videos are being 'muted' rather than simply removing the videos in their entirety as a kick in the balls to the creators, and the buffering times on certain vids are BRUTAL.

I could go on forever about this, but I won't. Final words: Nickolodean fucked us all over both in real life and online. I hope they burn in hell with those bastards at 4Kids. Now if you'll excuse me, there's a black van with the Nickolodean logo parked outside my house that needs to be- OH SHIT. OAO ....just kidding.

RP wise, I think I've been getting a lot more RPs in...when people are actually in the chatroom. Still, there are a few people that often show up that I'd rather not bother with, especially after all the problems that started at the old board. Ah well. Whatever.

Lastly, I've been dabbling in spriting again, and have managed to create 3 original sprites of bosses from Pocket World, and a fourth which I'm working on now.

Secondly, I've basically filled up one of my sketchbooks with all kinds of crap that I might upload whenever I find the time.

Thirdly, a bit of a Contact (DS) rant, I know that I already said I loved the game (Which I do) but there's just one thing that happened today that really pissed me off.

So, I made it to the final area (Akumojo Castle) and I do what I normally do there: RUN THROUGH AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. Why? Because the enemies are a hell of a lot more dangerous than the bosses here are. I make it past the Fire Giant mini-boss easily, and then I get to the final boss, the Cell Dragon. I started by using all my decals that cause damage (Balloon, Sun/Moon, and Mochi and then attacked normally the rest of the fight. The boss itself can only do the following things, and it usually follows the same pattern:

-It whips you with it's tail.

-Breathes Fire. If you haven't been upgrading your fire defense then getting hit by this will increase it quite a bit, though I'd highly suggest avoiding it altogether. *The best time to attack the dragon is RIGHT before he does this, if you're lucky and fast enough you can hit him twice.

-Flys into up into the top screen and drops easy to dodge giant snowflakes.

-Flys into the top of the Screen and unleashes lghtining, but only in a very limited area.

-Stands in one place after a tailwhip (Or before) and unleashes easy to avoid tornados.

-And for it's most dangerous attack, instead of whipping you it grabs you with it's tail, goes into the top screen, and drops you. As long as you dodge the tailwhips and only attack him when he goes to use a fire breath attack, he'll never be able to do this to you.

Halfway through the fight, you then have to fight Bull Beatnix and Lester Sprawl at once. I ran into a corner, making sure Bull was in front of Lester, and kicked Bull's ass. Then Lester, the king of glitching, gets stuck on Bull's body, and just seizure glitches while I kick his ass too. The dragon then continues it's normal pattern, but then you may catch a slight change in the music, which means that the dragon is PISSED. The only notable changes though are:

-His fire breathing pattern is a bit different, and maybe faster.

-His speed increases.

-He can now fly up into the air and unleash exploding fireballs down on you, but you can easily avoid this by hiding in a safe spot: The entrance you chased Mint through.

-He uses more snowflakes in his ice attack.

-He can now fly to the center of the upper screen and unleash lighting everywhere except the "safe spot"...as far as I've experienced.

Overall, the dragon one of the easiest bosses in the game, mostly because ALL of his attacks are actually avoidable. After the fight I used up a LOT of my healing items (During the fight I kept my HP above 100 in case he grabbed me with his tail) but I kept my Constellation decal (Which heals you completely.) The very last boss of the game is Mint herself, and GOD DAMN is it a cheap fight. None of her attacks are dodgable execpt for her punch, she keeps closing in on you, she can daze you, AND YOU CAN'T USE DECALS AT ALL. In otherwords, the game literally screwed me over at the last minute. If I could have used the decal I saved, I would have beaten her easily. But no, I got killed with a final cheap shot. At that point I just turned the game off in disbelief (Don't worry I saved before the dragon). The Mint fight is totally pointless. You beat a big ass dragon, grabbed the last cell, and you have to fight MINT? Oh well. Next time I'll bring a LOT more healing items before I fight the Dragon. And I'll use the ? decal to pass the Fire Giant if have to fight him again.

HA. FOOLED YA. Rather than bust my ass reviewing the entire Battle Network series, I've decided to start with a game that I've managed to fall in love with: Contact.

Contact is a really quirky and interesting game, that has both its good and bad points. Wether it's the brutally hard enemies and bosses, the nearly unbeatable "Elemental Gods", the music, the CosmoNOTs, or that damned Monkey you save early on in the game, Contact is a really good RPG, with a few minor problems.

The Good:

Plot- To sum up the plot of Contact: A boy named Terry (Who's name can be changed) wakes up after having a strange dream to find a strange rock on the ground (A Cell), as well as the landing of a space ship piloted by the other main hero, The Professor, and his space dog who wants to become a cat, Mochi. The Professor grabs the Cell and orders Terry to get into his ship quickly, as he is under attack by a group of terrorists called the CosmoNOTs. After a short chase through space, the CosmoNOTs shoot down the ship, and end up scattering the Professors Cells around a strange planet resembling earth. At the same time as this is happening, you, (And I mean YOU, not Terry) are in constant contact with the professor with the use of your DS. You then take control of Terry, and aid the professor in finding his fuel cells before the CosmoNOTs do.

Characters: The main cast of Contact is somewhat diverse and interesting. Wether it's the silent protagonist Terry, or the CosmoNOT archeoligist Lester Sprawl, the cast really does make this game a bit more interesting.

Bosses: The bosses in Contact can be EXTREMELY brutal for the unprepared, but if you find a way to "break" the boss's strategy, the fight seems easier. Case in point, the first fight against Lester Sprawl. This is a nearly impossble fight that occurs in the first real "dungeon" area of the game. The trick is to lure Lester up the steps in the room you're in, then hack away at him until his health reaches Zero.

The Music: The best part of the game in my opinion, is the music. Each area has it's own uniqu sound to it, and it really does make th game more enjoyable.

Gameplay: You have near perfect freedom to do as you please in the world of Contact. Ranging from killing people for Experience and items, killing shop owners for expensive weapons, or even killing cows for beef, you'll become a one man killing machine in this game. XD


The Bad

Plot: At times, the plot can leave you scratching your head. Case in point, when you reach Ft.Eagle, an evil military base surrounded by a forest, you meet a man who has had his memory wiped by the military at the base. When you escort him to his house, he engages in a short confrontation with the first Mini-Boss of the area, a group of soldiers and their commander. They talk about some pretty random stuff for about ten seconds before returning to the Cell plot. It's also revealed that they've been experimenting with Cloning, which results in the second Mini-Boss. Later on you reach a desert town where the people are apparently oppressed by someone...or something. Even after defeating the boss and sending the CosmoNOTs packing, they still act oppressed. The military again? Finally, there's the ending. Which is almost as sad as the endings to Klonoa and LoS: Dawn of the Dragon...in my opinion....the somewhat secret message aftet the credits can be a bit heart wrenching the first time around.

Characters: Like the plot, some of the characters are quite odd. But this is easily balanced out by pretty much everything else in th game.

Bosses: As I said, the bosses are BRUTAL if you're not ready. The Lester Sprawl fight is probably the perfect example too. The WORST bosses however, appear after you beat the game: THE ELEMENTAL GODS. The elemental gods consist of:

-FIRE: A large blood red Fire Giant enemy located in the Racing Game in Habara.

-WATER: Four blue and white red eyed caterpillar enemies located outside the cabin in Ft.Eagle.

-EARTH: A yellow cow found deep within Caldoaxa Ruins.

-WIND: A green demon that's found in a pyramid in Aegis that needs to be purchased for 10k before you can enter it.

The only one of these monsters I;ve managed to kill is EARTH. And that's simply because of a glitch similar to the one used on Lester. But even then, it took me at least 45 minutes to an hour to kill the damn thing. On a side note, these bastards can one-hit kill you like you're nothing. Long story short, the bosses can, and will, BRUTALLY RAPE THE UNPREPARED.

The Music: My only complaint is that nobody has tried to post the soundtrack in Mp3 format anywhere so I can download it. :<

Gameplay; GRIND. GRIND. GRIND. You have to keep leveling up ad getting good weapons if you even want to remotely hurt the chapter bosses. BASICS
Firstly, after another year Sonic has once again spewed out a couple more ridiculous games, once again wandering away from the formula that made him a hit in the first place. Let's turn the clocks back a few years shall we? The original 5 Sonic games (Sonic, Sonic2, Sonic3, Sonic&Knuckles, and SonicCD) were all great games. Each one used the same gameplay formula, as well as changing minor things each time, but kept to the basic throughout the series. Snic runs through 2 or 3 Acts per Zone, hits a robot and frees the animals inside, and then fights Robotnik. Simple. And it obviously worked, I mean, they made FIVE games with this formula! However, the formula changed when Sonic went to 3-D for the first time. After Sonic Adventure, changes were made:

1. Robots no longer have animals in them.

2. Robotnik is rarely the main villain.

3. Sonic's attitude gets more and more unbearable as the series progresses.

That's the sum of it there.


ROBOTNIK/EGGMAN
...WHat the hell happened Ivo? I mean, you were the ultimate badass in the comics, SatAm Cartoon, and Five games.....soooo....wtf went wrong? In the first 5 Sonic games Robotnik was just plain awesome. He rode a different machine in each stage, his final boss machines were always epic (With the exception of the first game I suppose), and he was actually the PRIMARY ANTAGONIST. Note the capatalized words on PRIMARY ANTAGONIST. Who's the primary antagonist in Sonic games nowadays?

-Genies.

-Aliens.

-Giant Knights.

....bullshit. I mean, LOOK AT THE DAMN SATAM CARTOON SERIES! Robotnik is a goddamn BEAST in the show, and he's just as nasty in the first few games! Now however, he's a joke. And that's it. Every time he seems to be the main baddie, there's some alien force or dark power that's one step higher than him. It's just ridiculous. Dr. Wily stayed as the main antagonist of the Megaman series for 9 games. I don't see why Robotnik didn't do the same. And yes, I call him Robotnik. Because it sounds a helluva lot more evil than "Eggman."

NEW GAMES
Hoo boy, here we go again. Now, I understand that Sega wants to experiment wth Sonic a bit, and try to improve him...but so far I think that Robotnik's experiments would be more sccessful than anything Sega's done with Sonic recently. The only games that have even TRIED to return to Sonic's original gameplay style are the two Rush games: Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure. Both games are on the DS, and I honestly enjoy them both. However, all those ridiculous platforms he's in now? Not so much. What I really love is how hyped everyone gets about another Sonic game for the Wii and X-Box, only to find out that it's a load of bull right after they play it. It's sad but hilarious. What exactly would I like to see in terms of Sonic games? Two words: FREEDOM FIGHTERS. Yeah, remember when Sonic used to hide out in good old Knothole village with the Freedom fighters? Weeellll wouldn't THAT make a good game? Apparently not. Because the idea of involving the player in a full out war against a total dictorial badass and his roboticized minions, AND POSSIBLY, including a mode where you can play as said badass (No, I'm not talking about Shadow either fangirls) is a TOTALLY bad idea....god damn you Sega.

SONIC X
*Bursts out laughing* Go on YouTube and look up the SatAm show kids. It's a LOT more entertaining.

SONIC GIRLS
Anyone who's talked to me in a chatroom knows where I stand on this. I'm full 101% SonicxPrincess Sally. Screw the other girls, they can keep working in internet porn, I truly believe that Sonic and Sally are the original MarioxPrincess Peach couple of the series. End of discussion.

SHADOW
Once again, you all know where I stand on this. I honestly beleive that the ONLY reason they created Shadow was because they wanted to replace Metal Sonic with a "badass" that the fangirls would totally fall for, and the fanboys would worship. And I hate him for it. The ONLY reason I like Shadow is because he manages to take over Mobius and become King in one of the comic arcs....and he still loses in the end. Long story short, Shadow should take his gun and shoot himelf. NOW. And don't get me started about that cheapass Chaos control Gmod bullshit he pulls whenever he fights.

FANS
I'm a Sonic fan. Yep. I hate his new games, but I still like him for what he was rather than who he's become. THe one thing I TRULY hate though, are the purists. People who:

-Think that you have to love every fucking game to be a fan.

-Worship Shadow.

I, am the reviewer with close to zero talent!

I, am JOKERZ THE FOX.


Now that we've got that out of the way....*clears his throat*, I finally took the time to beat the awesome Klonoa remake for the Wii. Seriously, I just shut off the Wii like five minutes ago. XD

Anyhoo, I had actually never played any other Klonoa games previous to this (I've watched some Let's Plays and read up and the games, but I'd never played them, so I basically went in partially blind. In the immortal words of Darkwing Duck:

Plot 9/10 : The plot is the same as the original game, which is always good. The overall plot seems confusing and strange by the time you get to the final stage of the game,but if you've seen the plot twists from the original, then they aren't as shocking. That's really the only reason I knocked a point off, I already saw it coming so to speak. The rest of the plot is dark, magical, and epic (At one point featuring a Moo/Enemy wearing GOGGLES |D). Like any good game, it balances both happy and sad moments perfectly. Though, if you've never seen the ending before, you may want to have a tissue handy...;;

Voice Acting 10/10 : Hoo boy...I HATE voice acting in games....but this game actually makes voice acting, well, sound good. .A. Klonoa's voice seems a bit deep for veterans of the series, but you'll get used to it. My favourite voice? Joka/Joker, hands down. His eerie almost pedophile-esque voice is perfect for his role. I nearly knocked off a point for Ghadius's voice, mostly because it didn't feel too right at first. By the end of the game though, he pulls off an EPIC evil laugh that saved this spot from a 9. The other voices fit perfectly too, even Huepow/Hewpo turned out well, whihc us especially good considering the fact that he talks through most of the cutscenes. My only REAL problem was that sometimes the music muffled the voices a bit. But that's only a minor thing.

Visuals 10/10 : The game looks beautiful. The ending cutscene itself gave this game an easy 10 in my opinion. The rest of the stages look great, and even the enemies and bosses look amazing. It's a serious update from the original, and it works for me.

Gameplay 8.5/10 : The gameplay in Klonoa is simple. The controls are really easy to get used to, and it doesn't take very long to pretty much master them. The levels are nice and straightforward, and the extra collectable items are easy to find. I managed to find all 6 villagers in every stage....HOWEVER, why in god's name would you want to collect ALL THE CRYSTALS!? Apparently, there are gems beside each stage representing how many you managed to collect. Grey means less than 100 (I think), Green means between 100 and 149, and Blue means that you found all 150 gems. Wahoo. Seriously, it's like finding all 100 coins in Mario 64 all over again. >~<#

Difficulty 9.5/10 : *Spoilers Ahead* The game is too short, and really easy....well, until the final stages and Extra vision anyways. But even those seem easy when you complete them. Visions 5-1, 5-2, 6-1, 6-2, and the Final Vision are nightmares for one easy reason: DEATH PITS. THEY FLOOD THESE LEVELS. World 5 also has a TON of fire hazards that can lower your health from 10 to 1 easily. That's my next problem, why so much health? The orginal game had only 3 hearts, and it was still easy wasn't it? Well, luckily, the insane pitfall puzzles in the 6th and Extra visions add a serious difficulty jump for you if you aren't ready, especially if you managed to skip all the extra lives in the game. What saved this section from an 8 or 9 though: BALUE'S TOWER. Like any extra stage in a game: IT. IS. HELL. Seriously, I had to find a vid on YouTube to get past the final part. @w@; All those lives you found? You'll get to watch as they vanish one by one....unless you're a Klonoa master of course. B3 Even though it wasn't TOO bad, and I managed to beat it, it's still good to see that the game found some way to hike up the difficulty.

Unlockables 6/10 : *MORE SPOILERS AHEAD* If you find all 6 Villagers in every stage, and beat the game, you pretty much unlock everything. You get the basic extra costume stuff, Character Data Room (Perfect for sketch practising I might add), Movie Room, Mirror Mode, Time Attack Mode, an Balue's Hell....I mean Tower. Beating the Tower unlocks a sound test (Lephise's Music Box). My only problems are....what, no Extra Mode? No harder difficulties? NO UNLOCKABE ARTWORK!? Ugh...the unlockables aren't too amazing. Though, it IS fun to dress Klonoa in his original costume and replay the game I suppose. |D

Let's start from the first game, shall we? And continue from there....

Joka: Your typical, evil henchmen-esque second in command. Joka is extremely sadistic and nasty in this game. He's able to pull Nightmare creatures out of nowhere, he's not above interrogating old women (Grandma/Chieftess), he fucking KILLS Klonoa's Grandfather with a badass laser beam, and he turns into a GIANT TURTLE during his boss fight. Joka (Or, Joker)'s voice in th remake is perfect in my opinion too. He ends up returning in quite a few of the games as well though moslty in the handheld series, where he's still an evil little prick XD. Appears in Klonoa Door to Phantomile(PS1) , Klonoa Beach Volleyball(PS1...or PS2/Japan and Europe Only), Klonoa 2: Dream Champ Tournament (GBA), and Klonoa Heroes (GBA/Japan Only ;; ).

Ghadius: You already now how I feel about this guy. In my opinion, he's a bit of a rip-off of Nightmare/Nightmare Wizard from Kirby's Adventure. I mean, he has the empty cloak body, the menacing head, and he's a Nightmare. What other evidence do you need? Still, his role as the Key Villain in Door to Phantomile is pretty good, despite the fact that Joka is the one you see before or after each boss (This stops after you kill Joka himself), and the fact that Joka seems to be the one causing all the Chaos while Ghadius sits back and looks evil for the hell of it. His motive turns out to be revenge for being sealed away god knows how long ago, and his plan involved reviving the ultimate Nightmare: Nahatomb. However, he soon finds out that a "strange dream" is resisting his dark inflence during the final stages of the game, and goes into villain freak-out mode in an attempt to destroy it. This is when he's at his absolute best in my opinion. Appears in Klonoa Door to Phantomile as the main antagonist as well as the remake.

Nahatomb: Oh boy, let's talk about Nahatomb. This guy's appeared a total of three times in the series, each time as a final boss. In Door to Phantomile, he's a disgusting fat, badass nightmare revived by Ghadius after Klonoa hands his cloaked ass to him. Ghadius, desperate to crush the "mysterious dream" that's screwing up his plan, summons Nahatomb as his final act before dying. Nahatomb himself has to be blasted with cannons, attacked from within, and shot a third time, followed by shooting Huepow into him as a finisher, before he bites the dust. Unlike Ghadius, Nahatomb is one bad dude. He returns in Klonoa Beach vollyball as S.Garlen's partner in a final "battle". This version of Nahatomb is MUCH more cartoony, with a bowtie and cigar to make him less like the beast he was in Door to Phantomile. Finally, he is the final boss of Klonoa Heroes, this time he looks a bit like Ghadius, and he was apparently once the greatest hero that ever lived....epic. Appears in Klonoa Door to Phantomile (And the Remake on the Nintendo Wii), Klonoa Beach Volleyball, and Klonoa Heroes as the final badass boss.

Leorina: Okay, I know she changes to good before you face the real villain of Klonoa 2, but before that as far as you know she's the main baddie. Leorina is an Ex-Priestess turned sky pirate who pretty much fills Joka's role of creating monsters for you to fight in the first game. At one point, she transforms into a monster herself due to the power of Sorrow and attacks you. Afterwords she turns good....sorta. Throughout the game she has little to no emotion, and she seems really REALLY dark. Her theme is awesome too. The one thing that bugged me was that her "voice actor" made her sound a bit.....um....mannish. Appeared in Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil (PS2) as the "Main Antagonist", and in Klonoa Beach Volleyball.

King of Sorrow: Now we're cooking with fire, the King of Sorrow may not make his evil presence known until the very end of Lunatea's Veil, but he used what powers he had to pull a Marx on Klonoa (Mainly, tricking him into making it to him in the first place). His main goal was to envelope all of Lunatea in Sorrow for forgetting about him and his kingdom. However, Klonoa soon puts a stop to this. He is apparently reborn after the game ends. Appears only in Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil as the de-facto main antagonist.

Bagoo: Going from fire, to a simmer, Bagoo is apparently the King of Despair who took control of Emperor Jilius and gave him his insomnia. He also poses as Jilius's advisor. Like the King of Sorrow, Bagoo is not revealed to be the main antagonist until the end of the game. Bagoo reveals his true form, an odd....cloudlike dragon thing wearing a mask that changes colour, and attacks. I don't really hae much to say about Bagoo because, hell, he's even less impressive than Ghadius (Once again, in my opinion.). Appears only in Klonoa: Empire of Dreams (GBA) as the main antagonist.

Secondly, my depression's been getting better I suppose. I still get short spells here and there, but they've been pretty tame...

Lately, I've been sleeping a bit more too....at night, not during the day like I normally do. XD I know it sounds odd, but for those who have known me for a while now, I'm a bit of an insomniac, so sleep is usually the last thing on my mind....at least, when I'm not tired. ;;

Second...ly?, I've got a SHITLOAD of artwork to scan. Including:

1. I've been playing Klonoa on the Wii. (I plan to review this awesome game soon).

4. Right now I feel happier than I've been since well....two days ago. Which is awesome.

5. Because I've finally gotten into Final Fantasy, the psychotic idea juice in my mind has been flowing.

Now for the rant.

I was looking around YouTube at, you guessed it, Saddest Scenes lists. I looked at about 3 before I typed this up. I know that they're people's opinions, but for god's sake:

WHY IS AERIS'S DEATH ALMOST ALWAYS NUMBER ONE?

I know it was sad and shocking the first time it happened but, in all honesty, it doesn't affect me, and it's getting stale fast. Even the first time I saw it I barely felt that usual sad twinge in my frozen heart. In all honesty, I think people are just afraid that the Final Fantasy fans will flame their videos for not including it. I already know the fanboys are gonna freak out when they read this rant too.

As hard as it is to accept, THERE. ARE. SADDER. MOMENTS.

I'll start with a recent one: The ending to Klonoa: Door to Phantomile.

Not only does this ending hit you with one HELL of a plot twist, but it features (I'm going to call it) "voice acting", a sad anime-ish ending theme, and the breakup of a bond between two best friends. And the animation is damn beautiful.

This ending got to me. I'll admit it. Of course, the other moment that will tug at your heartstrings occurs halfway through the game (Look it up, because I don't want to spoil it.) but is almost as affective. The only real thing that I found funny was the WAY this scene is started (Quickie Spoiler: JOKA'S FIRIN' HIS LAZAH.)

An even more recent scene involves (Here we go) Metal Gear Solid 4. Yes, I'm referring to the Naomi Hunter Death scene. Naomi slowly dies as Otacon (Note to all girls out there: The average life span of Otacon's Love intrests is usually about, oh, a single game, so watch yourselves XD) is breaking into tears and freaking out on a computer screen. Once again, this is a hell of a lot sadder.

And for the last example, you all saw this coming: The ending to The Legend of Spyro DoTD. This was the first time I'd been rattled by a video game scene for about ten years at least. I can't even get myself to watch it again. One watch and POOF, I'm done. This ending blew my mind and left me in a short state of serious thought for a week at least.

In conclusion: The only reason I find the whole "Aeris's Death Scene" thing so annoying is because whenever it's not featured in someone's saddest moments in video games lists, the fanboys (And girls) flame the vid and bitch about it until the poster of the vid has to write a "Note: I did not include Aeris's death scene because...." notice in the description every time.

In serious conclusion: There are sadder moments. Get off your ass and find them before you bitch about it. Thank you.

Quick Question: What is the saddest video game moment YOU have ever watched? I don't care if it's Aeris's death either. (Though if I get more than one person using that response I'll just hide all of the others saying the same thing. |S )

It's obvious that like most people I despise 4Kids, mostly because they go too far with the censorship and dubbing of shows.

Before I go too far however, let's turn the clocks back a bit shall we?

Now, even before 4Kids existed, American companies (ie. Nintendo of America) in charge of bringing over Japanese games were notorious for censoring or changing some of the most ridiculous little things in the games they brought over here. The perfect example is the way they used to replace crosses and cross shaped objects 90% of the time, fearing that Religous groups would complain (Which they would anyways.). They'd constantly make sure to dispose of almost every single thing that even remotely resembled a cross and replaced it with something else (or simply disposed of it altogether).

Video game companies are under a ton of pressure however, mostly from Parent Teacher Groups, Religous Groups, and ass wipes like Jack Thomspon, who blame video games for all the problems in the world, and need to bitch about every little thing.

Nowhere is this more obvious than in the console port of the popular arcade game Primal Rage. The story goes that in 1996 some bitch named Ellie Rovella of Gilbert Arizona was enraged when her 11 year old son (Who probably shouldn't have had the damn game in the first place) used an issue of GamePro to pull off a move known as the "Golden Shower Technique." To summarize the move: After you beat the opponent, you take a leak on them and melt away their flesh. This move was considered to be so sick that any gamer would have a chill sent down their spine. In reality: The character turns to the side a bit, a stream of yellow liquid flows from between his legs (No penis is shown) and the actual melting process is covered by a thick cloud of smoke. The final result is a bloodless, fleshless, organless, skeleton of whomever you killed. This lead to multiple versions of the game being pulled off shelves (Even the Nintendo version without the fatality).

Now, what does this have to do with 4Kids? Well, firstly, think about it, like Nintendo 4Kids was attempting to make something child friendly for the masses that just wasn't supposed to be. But...it wasn't always this god awful.

Remember back when Pokemon was still good? When the world was swept away by the popular cartoon that we'd watch every day without question just to see what would happen next? Well....that was a 4Kids dub. I shit you not. The original series probably censored or got rid of the cursing from the Japanese version (Because as we know there isn't a single anime show that hasn't used "shit" in its dialogue at some point in time) but it was still good. They had left n injuries and some blood however (Scratches, slashes, black eyes, etc. were all present in the show).

As time went on however, 4Kid began to go astray. Their first fuck up? The Fox Box. The Fox box was a Saturday morning program that was made up of video game based shows, mostly dubbed by 4Kids. The program itself was a good concept...the shows on the other hand...

Around this time YTV had shows like Inu-Yasha and Gundam Seed on at night. Both of thee shows were dubbed really well, and still used terms like "Damn, Hell, and Bastard." Words like "Shit" were once again removed. So, the Fox Box had to compete somehow....so, they grabbed a group of voice actors and got them to voice basically all pf the characters from any Anime thay could grab. Those of you who have watched Yu-Gi-Oh! may have noticed that the actor who voices the Pharoah also does all kind of other voices in various 4Kids shows.

However, fans weren't as impressed with the mediocre voice acting and the often bad dubbibg of these shows. I personally enjoyed the Kirby Anime, (except for the lame theme song at the begginning :< ) but a lot of the other shows (Mainly Sonic X) were just god awful in one way or another.

Then came the most infamous of all 4Kids dubs so far: ONE PIECE.

Anyone who watches the dub knows that somewhere along the line, 4Kids fucked up badly. Wehter it's Luffy's annoying, totally out of place voice, the lack of ANY blood in the dub, the disgusting rap song opening (Which I admit is an iinteresting experiment that they still managed to fuck up), or the weird ass edits that are used as an attempt to water down or Americanize the show, the dub is just plain bad.

The things I enjoy about the dub are the following:

-Most of the vllain voices. (Arlong, Wapol, Buggy, Kuro, etc. all had decent voices that fit their character in my opinion.)

....and that's it.

Why am upset about this? Well...two words: EXCLUSIVE GAMES.

It's not fair. I mean, Mario and Luigi 3 and Megaman Star Force 3 are on the way (I hope), and by the time they get here, they'll probably be DSi exclusives. ;>A<;

What imporvements have been made?

-Well, a camera....wow. Like we need another product that acts as a camera.

-Internet like on the Wii. Seriously? On those two small screens? Aren't laptops and i-pod touches made for the exact same reasons? Why go that far? Because it succeeded on the wii!?

-EXCLUSIVES: That's right, they'll be making games that can only be downloaded from their site using their internet connections. AND ONLY FOR THE DSi.

Seriously kids, people are already falling for it's charms, however, here's the main problem you guys should realise before running off to buy these: THEY. CANNOT. PLAY. GAME BOY AVDVANCE. GAMES. That's right, the cheap bastards took the GBA option away....what the hell!?

Luckily, the sales of DS Lites here in North America has held this system back from coming over here without buying it straight from Japan. I for one am happy enough wih my DS Lite. |3
