So, things that have happened in the PAST YEAR (gasp!) since I actually updated this darn thing:

- Graduated (summa cum laude)
- Moved to Raleigh
- Got a job (Cisco)
- Got married (Kevin)
- Went temporarily insane and quit all my usual activities except pretty much eating and bathing
- Got mono
- Got over mono
- Started behaving like an adult kinda. Rented a house. Paid bills. Cursed the economy.
- Turned 21 (and I still don't drink any amount worth mentioning!)
- Started playing WOW

Yeah I know, WOW, and I said I would never fall for that. It's PRETTY! Catch me on Elune or Scryers if you wanna share my addiction...
And dear lord, I have 869 deviations to view.

Well, my birthday came and went. I'm 20 now, that's kinda weird. And contrary to popular belief I actually HAVE done some art stuff. I really need to get a new camera - most of the new things have been textile-related. I've painted a few custom polyhedral sets, and I'm about to start a featherworking project. No idea how that will go, since I've never done it before, but I have about 6 pheasants' worth of tailfeathers and down that are just BEGGING to be integrated into my much-planned, never-implemented bird costume.

But I know I at LEAST promised you guys some new art. One has been posted now; I wish I had time to work on more. I'm hoping once school is out for Christmas break I'll have an opportunity to show you all some of the new things I've come up with.
Well, despite the fact that I never really had a "summer break" (yay summer school) it's all going to pay off in the form of an early graduation - by a whole year! And assuming all goes well I'll be enrolled in a great grad school for next fall, as well as (fingers crossed) doing one of my dream jobs next summer (interning for Dreamworks in CA, managing computers and the like).

In the meantime I'm still busy running two separate RPGs (D&D and Serenity) and occasionally finding the time to do an awful doodle or two. Often I feel as if the RPGs are something I'm being held at sword/gunpoint to do...but if I don't run them, who will?

"...and run-on sentences with questionable punctuation!"

Despite all my misgivings, I managed to make an A in my Calc II class and secure my spot on the Dean's List for another semester. Phew. I wonder, did it have more to do with me threatening my professor within an inch of his sanity ("Just you remember, I have two more classes with you before I graduate!"), or was it the fact that I walked in, dropped my 18-page final on his desk after FOUR HOURS, and said, "Well, unless I totally screwed it up, that's an easy A!"?

Looking over that last sentence, I realize the punctuation leaves a little to be desired. Oh well, it keeps things interesting. Besides, like I always say, I'm going to change my name to "!" so when people want to get my attention they have to look right at me and look really surprised. Mnyahahaha.

Anyway, if you ask me, the school should do a little something more for those on the DL than just print their name in the paper. I'd settle for having a better dorm to live in. I may have a first-floor room but otherwise it's pretty crummy, 11:45pm fire drills included.

So. Maybe I can complete some more stuff over Christmas break! Keep an eye out, you may see some pictures of the costume's I've made surfacing here. No cosplay for me, I'm more into LARP stuff, but i'm completing a beautiful (simple) black robe and then it's on to custom bags and more rogue stuff for my LARP.

LARP LARP LARPitty LARP. Yay.

I hate the holidays. Not Christmas itself so much, since it IS one of the most holy days of the year, and I can't NOT celebrate Jesus' birth (even though the date is somewhat debatable due to the whole "let's take over the dates of pagan holidays!" thing--whoops, tangent, sorry), but the whole holiday atmosphere is just gak.

Like work on my Serenity RPG campaign. Boy am I dying to run that thing. Soooo many cool ideas for the unsuspecting players! And it'll make a nice break from Exalted and D&D.
Oh yeah, did I mention I got addicted to sewing again? I've agreed to make about 10 different outfits for my LARP friends...plus two wedding outfits that have to be done by next August. Not that I'm worried or anything. After all, I have all summer to work on them! Boocoo bucks for me...

Also, did anybody notice that I changed my icon finally? I'm really working on adapting my own drawing style for once instead of just drawing whatever. Blah. I need more time to be creative. No amount of prodding could convince my boyfriend and I didn't want to drag him to another movie he'd hate (*shudders as she remembers the fiasco with the wonderful - but subtitled - "Hero"*), so I went to the art theater here and enjoyed myself throughly. I love Diana Wynn Jones but I'd never had the opportunity to read the book that they based the movie on. I think I shall have to go get it from the library now. Definitely going in the DVD collection when it comes out, at any rate.

It was kind of nice to get out by myself for a while. But now I must go work on a new submission. (I'm sure anyone who watches me is feeling a great disturbance in the Force right about now). Oh wait...no one watches me! Woohoo, free to commit evil deeds all the day long!
The big news is that I got a really good deal on an Intuos2 tablet and it arrived yesterday! Plugged it in, it worked great, but the tablet-to-screen gap is really working some funky mojo on my ability to coordinate right now. I'll have to practice a lot before I get any good.
I was bored today, so I used a remote viewer to open up a piece of particularly enticing e-mail that I knew was spam, just to find out what was actually inside. I never read spam - I can spot it a mile away - but like I said, I was bored.

<edit>: I Googled for about five seconds and found that most of this spam is taken from an actual book called Captain Blood by Rafael Sabatini. It was released in 1922 and was made into a movie starring the venerable Errol Flynn. *salutes the master*

This is the bizarre message I found inside:

So...I gather than this English seaman, Peter Blood, is having a little trouble getting the bounce back in his plank. I am intrigued indeed. This sordid little preview was rife with double-entendres. If it had been an advertisement for a book I would have run right out to Barnes & Noble and picked it right up!

So kids, the lesson is: don't read spam. It lowers your IQ, you better beliet it.

Spent all day today at the local Renn Faire, rampaging around with a Viking and a Scotsman. I kept waiting for someone to ask me 'Cake or death?' but I had to settle for pestering the cast members instead.
I thought today would never come. I swear, as long as I live, I will never take 20 hours in one semester again, especially if said hours involve any form of calculus. Bleaugh.

That said, I believe it's safe to say that I got a 4.0 and made the Dean's List again. Assuming that my English Lit teacher is kind to me on the 10 and 20 page papers I turned in today, of course. He seemed to be in a magnanimous mood (our final exam consisted of watching Spaceballs and Muppets From Space , so maybe that will give you a hint of what he's like on a good day).

I believe I set a record for the fastest turnaround time between getting out of school for the summer and getting a summer job. I left campus at 1:30 and by 3:20 I had been hired on the spot by a rheumatology center in town. Not as much per hour as I was hoping for, but it was the difference between getting a job NOW and submitting my resume to a temp agency and MAYBE getting a job in a few weeks. (And the job includes half-days on Fridays and no weekends! Woohoo!) I start tomorrow.
School is back in session. Spring Break definitely wasn't long enough. I dug through my old sketches and found a few things I'd like to post, but they're all going in the scrap bin for now. Nothing is really good enough to count as a deviation. Not to mention that I don't have access to my scanner right now - OR my camera interface cable. Left it at home. Darn.

I do have some pictures from my England trip that are pretty good. I'm by no means a professional photographer, but I like to think I've picked up a few things from...er...places. Ah, who am I kidding, I'm biased. Anyway we'll see if I can dig through my 500+ England pics and find something soon. I did find the B&W version of my "After the Summer Solstice" but then Adobe decided to crash and darn it, I don't feel like digging again. I'm just too lazy to write things down while they're still important.
