Because, in the middle of my design project, mine COMPLETELY gave out. And since I've already had it repaired TWICE, I figured I oughtta get a new one. And went on Craiglist. And found a new 11x6 Intuos3 for $250~!!! Thus, I bought it, and am EXTREMELY pleased. HooRAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So yesterday, I started teaching Japanese. I am supposed to teach a husband and wife team, but because the wife was out of town on business, the husband alone came for the first lesson. Apparently, he came to check out the way I taught and see if it meshed with his needs. Anywho, I find out that his wife is a tennis player who travels around the world for tournaments! They go to Japan quite often and love it there so they want to learn Japanese. So I saw some pictures of her and stuff. Then we continued on with the lesson.

I, for one, was SUPER prepared. I wanted everything to go perfectly, and it did. I did an introduction, explained the layout of the Japanese language, explained the textbooks/study materials we'd be using, as well as the mini tests and homework we'd have. After talking for a while, he seemed super excited to get started. He then turned to me and asked, "Let's be honest. How many hours a week should we be meeting? It doesn't seem like three will be enough." Right now, we'd agreed upon 3 hours a week at $60 a week. So I replied, "Well, three hours would be OK, but the more often, the better. The University of Minnesota does 5-6 hours for beginners," to which he responded, "Could we do 6 hours a week then, at $120 a week?" Of course, I totally agreed. So now I've got this amazing job, with an amazing salary. (Keep in mind though, that I have lots of prep work for these sessions.)

So here comes the best news. After talking some more, I checked my list of things I had planned to talk about. I realized I hadn't asked much about him, so I asked, "I know you're wife is a tennis player, but where do you work?" He grinned and told me he'd save the best for last. He had wanted to make sure that I was the perfect fit for his and his wife's needs, and said I was absolutely perfect for the job. "I work at United Airlines. And, because I'd love to really show my appreciation, I can get you FREE first class tickets to Japan whenever you want. All you gotta do is tell me when. Thanksgiving, Christmas break, whenever. I can hook you up. Also, let your family/friends share in it too! If they want to go to Japan, or your parents want to go to Europe or something, I can send them there!"

.....................????!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!??!?!??!??!?!?!??!?!

AND HE WASN'T JOKING! On the spot, he opened up is United Airlines account and added me onto it. Thus, I can basically get free flight to ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Holy crap. I know. I was seriously shaking when the session ended. It's like, I'm still in a state of shock. WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?!?! Stuff like this doesn't even happen in DREAMS!!!!!!!!!!! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAHHHHHH!

So. Thus. Therefore. I'm likely. Going to Japan. Again. Over Christmas BREAK!!!!!!!! I thought I couldn't go for at least another few years, because I don't have money for plane tickets!! Dude. Seriously. And he was like, "I'll make sure all the flight attendants know why you're on the plane, and you won't have to worry about anything."

So. That was my most amazing story. Ever. Yeah.

I just wanted to let you know that Japan is way times cooler that I ever imagined, and I wish I didn`t ever have to go back to the US. Japan is da bomb. Japanese is hard. And manga and CDs are seriously cheap at "book off," this used book store. Seriously, manga is between $1 and $2 here. And new manga is about $4. I`m in heaven!

Sorry for the deadness the past few weeks. I had finals and projects GALORE. I've also been working as a translator for the manga Kimi ni Todoke (only online) so I've had my hands full.

I just wanted to let you all know that I'll have some newer artwork up within a few weeks. Now that schools done, I'm planning my HS graduation party, and all that fun crap. I also became an adult 2 1/2 weeks ago! Dang, I feel old. I feel the pressure on Deviantart, too. For some reason, it feels like when you're 18 or older on deviantart, your art had better be good, or you're just lame. I dunno, is that just me?? Gah.

Anyway, I've managed to get a spot as a missionary to Japan this summer! The exact dates for arrival and departure aren't set yet, but I should be gone around 6 weeks? It's going to be exciting, but intimidating. I'm not going through a program. I'm basically going off my own money on an individual basis, so it'll be pretty tough. I'm so pumped though!

So I just wanted to post this journal to assure (or disappoint) you all that I'm not dead! Be seeing you soon!

Anyways, he sent me... get this. A $140 scarf, a $115 cell phone charm, A poster, a CD, and candy. Like seriously, I haven't EVER owned a single clothing item worth that amount... much less a simple scarf!! I opened his present on Christmas, and Misato (Japanese exchange student from 2007) was like, "Holy crap. That's 'Vivenne Westwood' and 'Swarovski.' Do you have any idea how much that costs???!!" So yeah. Lately we haven't had as much time to webcam, but that totally reassured me he still thinks about me 8D

Oh, and yesterday, another student named Atsumi came to our house. She's a friend of Misato's who is studying abroad in Montana. So yet again, we have 2 Japanese girls at our house. That makes 5 this year! Wowza.... 8D

Yeah. So right now? I'm pretty stressed. I'm sitting in my Plant Propogation class listening to my foreign teacher tell us that our comprehensive final on Thursday?? Yeah. She's not going to narrow it down. We have over 800 power point slides to look for. And, I quote, "That's college." WRONG! Especially for a 1001 course! THE EASY OF THE EASY! NOOOOOTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!

Dang it. I also have two papers due by next monday. And oral interview in Japanese on Friday, and a final in Japanese on Monday. Not to mention that the exchange student that stayed with us summer of '07 is coming next Monday and will stay for 3 weeks. In other words, major cleaning.

I WANT TO DIE. Seriously, the only thing keeping me alive is the thought of vacation. After this week.................. if I can last that long.

Secondly, I finally talked to Ryuuta again on gmail messenger. We had a really fun conversation and stuff, so I was so totally excited. I thought things had gone back to normal with him. Plus, he told me that he made a girlfriend who's Canadian. However, I'm not really sure what to make of this... he wouldn't show me any pictures at all, and then totally switched conversation topics. And me, with my lously Japanese, couldn't come up with a good way to return to the topic.

And THEEEEEN, at the end of the conversation, we were joking around. He was joking that he would tell Takashi all kinds of lies about me like "She's a perv," "She's a lesbo," "She's really a boy," etc and stuff like that. So we were joking around and suddenly, he says...

Anyway, I just thought I'd let you all know about Takashi's status~

So obviously, he sent me an email as soon as he returned to Japan. And now, we send eachother emails twice (if not 3 times) a day! Also, we both bought webcams with microphones, so we talk to eachother on there maybe 4 times a week? It's a little hard with the time difference being 14 hours, but we make it work!In general, we use the webcam for about 8 hours a week or so? Crazy, hm?

Anyway, I was a little sad because his parents gave him the no-go on coming back to MN in February. Like the majority of college students in Japan, he still lives with his parents, so if they say no, it doesn't really work... But I'm going to Japan next summer, so I'll see him then! He even said that if I can't come to Kumamoto, he'll go to anywhere in Japan where I'm staying~

So the relationship is working awesome!! We've gotten into the habit of saying "I love you" on the webcam, which was actually really hard at first~ I was too embaressed, and he was too embaressed. But he finally suggested one night, that we both sign onto Skype for the purpose of saying I love you... and we did! I told a Japanese friend of mine about this, and she says it's really rare, because Japanese guys are usually too shy to suggest anything like that~

So here's a picture of us we took this morning! Haha~ He took one with his cell phone, but my cellphone's camera is kinda bad, so I just used a camera.

Yeah, so we've already emailed like a ton... and I finally gave in and got a MySpace and facebook.... finally.

Also, we've talked a ton on gmail's chat function!

And uses Aishiteru! Which means "I love you" in Japanese... and I get to say it back! I've always wanted to say I love you in Japanese to someone!

Also, he's really computer illiterate. But he's gonna spend his limited budget to buy a computer mic and webcam! I didn't even suggest it! Although suggested it as a birthday gift... but Takashi came up with it on his own because "My smile makes him happy and he wants to see my smile"

What should I write first... O.K. I decided it. Thank you so much for yesterday. I was really really enjoyed it. This "<3 Date" right? In fact... this is the first date in my life (wow!!) Saiko is our joke. Because in English, Psycho is crazy, but in Japanese, it means awesome. Also, the end says "Ore mo Kailey ga suki daken!!!" which means "I also love Kailey!" in Kumamoto dailect.

So we hugged and cried and stuff... and he gave me a kiss before he left!

So, my first boyfriend (of sorts), my first kiss, and my first date... and it was all his firsts too!

So it's bittersweet. He's heading to Japan now. However, he wants to keep in contact and he said he will try to write a song for me.

I was so happy though, I kept hiding my face because I was crying.... and laughing all at once.

So, I got a love letter from Ryuuta... mhmm... and he did the Japanesey thing and bought me my favorite pop as a present.... and then I told him we need to be just friend. GAH. I felt bad. But I did it.. he just made me promise that if we meet in Japan, we'll go on one date. 8D And he's still talking to me and emailing me, too... so that's a good sign.

And today was student graduation. They don't leave until Tuesday, but the ceremony was today. And the person in charge of the program arranged it so that Takashi gave me the flowers.

The other night, I made cards for everyone too... and I wrote a special love letter to Takashi... kinda... sorta....

I gave it to him and RAN. I don't know if he's read it yet... but he'll read it by tomorrow... and my chair is right next to his in the classroom. After announcements we go to MOA all day... I wonder if I'll get some sort of response or not.... gaaaaaaaahhhhhh.... i feel duuuumb

Today
So today, I got to school and had the hardest time making eye contact with Takashi. However, after the announcements, when we leave for the MOA, he pulls me aside and says he wants to talk to me later. Unfortunately, we get stuck in different cars, and the lady driving my car decides to pick up her son on the way over.... so by the time we arrive at the Mall of America, everyone from the first van is gone... and I'm stuck watching this kid (the lady is in charge of the program, and gives me my paycheck... so I couldn't refuse)

So I'm watching this kid and walking around the MOA (which is RIDICULOUSLY huge) and I can't find any exchange students anywhere... let alone Takashi.

So half the day passes by. I'm freaking out trying to find Takashi, and this kid thinks it's hilarious. Finally, I spot some of the girl students eating, and we sit down with them. Suddenly, BOOM. Takashi, and two other guys. "あああ！ケイリー！マジ探していた！" Aaah, Kailey! I was seriously looking for you!

Buuut, we just happened to be in the area with the kid and a buncha other girls or guys... so we just kinda awkwardly stood around for a few minutes and asked general questions. Finally, he asked what I was planning for the rest of the afternoon. I said "Nothing much" and so he asked me what ride I recommend. So I pointed out the awesome loop-dee-loop one, and then he told me to meet him there at three.

So then he left. And I freaked out. I actually ran into Ayaka and her friend, and they kept telling me "ドキドキだけど、頑張れー！" （Even if your heart is freaking out, do your best!) And weren't much help saying "初めての恋！かわいいい！" (First looooove, so cute!) and when I was freaking out, they didn't give me any advice... just kept saying that I was "マジかわいい” (Super adorable!)

So I met Takashi at the rollercoaster... and he was waiting for me on a bench. So we sat down.. and I was seriously doki doki. So he said something like "Thank you for the letter... I read last night before bed. I am a little confused (Jenglish for undecided.) But I am very happy because whenever I talk to you, am I always very happy. I am very impressed. Please let me think some more. Meanwhile, let's enjoy the rest of the afternoon together.

Of course, this came out slowly and in broken English, making it more awkward. But it was cool. So we rode a roller coaster and a log chute, and then we went shopping together... and ended up getting lost when it was time to go... and everyone was waiting for us and laughing when we finally met them.......

So it's kinda good news, kinda bad news... i mean he, and everyone is leaving tomorrow!!! I'm already depressed....

LOL. Yeah, I'm serious. Right now, I have a manga life... sure it's gonna end in a week, but it's pretty hilarious... care to hear?

So I've been doing the internship at the Japanese exchange program, and it's basically my job to speak English with all 19 of the students, providing them with a native speaker close to their age... I spend about 8 hours a day with the group.

So when they arrived, I immediately noticed this guy that I thought I might like. After I talked with him (his name is Takashi), I definately thought I did. He's taller than me (only a little, haha... I'm 5'9 1/2") reaaallly nice, and really cute. Only problem? I'm ridiculously shy around guys in person... especially ones that I like. So I haven't got the guts to say anything... I mean, what if he rejects me, and then the next week or so I have to see and talk with him every day?

So meanwhile, another guy (Ryuuta) pops into the picture. He's like 5'2", pretty cute, and funny. I like him as a friend, but I never thought of him as someone I could really like... and he starts hanging out with me anywhere I go and dropping hints like "I really want to find an American girlfriend" and "if you come to Japanese, please let me show you around! I could bring you to restaurants and kareoke and ect...." telling me that I have really beautiful eyes..... asking me if I'm feeling ok because I look tired... loaning me his sweatshirt when I said I was cold to somebody else.... And he seriously is following me everywhere. I mean, I like Ryuuta, but it's not a like like... you know?

And then, at the host family picnic, when Ryuuta's following me around, my mother comes over to me and says that the Takashi seems kinda awkward now... like he wanted to talk to me, but the Ryuuta keeps following me around, so it's too weird.... and so now I'm wondering if maybe the feeling is mutual, but he thinks I like Ryuuta?

Then we have the side characters. The reaally short, strange, comedic character who doesn't say anything, but shows up in the weirdest places at the weirdest times... just to make everyone laugh. And we have the squealing girls who tell me to just "go for it" and "confess to your lover." I don't think they quite understand the meaning of the word "lover."

And to top it off, there's a deadline crunch of next Tuesday... when they're leaving back to Japan! I like Takashi, but I feel bad for Ryuuta because he's from Okinawa, so he doesn't really have any friends in the group and I've been his only friend... I want to tell Takashi that I like him, but I'm too embarressed!

I tried to talk with Takashi today, but whenever I did, poor Ryuuta looked kinda alone....What do I DO?!

Is this a story for a manga, or what?

UPDATE!

Alright. I don't think anyone is gonna believe this.... but somehow, the situation has gotten more complicated.

I was working up the courage to talk to Takashi during the "free time" but during lunch..... Ryuuta confessed to me. Seriously, yeah.

It's my job to work on the yearbook... so I was on my computer and Ryuuta was like "So... what you doing?" And I was like "Haha, boring work..." And then he said "Itsumo ganbatteru kara, I like you" (Because you are always trying hard, I like you) And I was like "Haha, thanks..." and he was like "No, I'm serious." Then I musta given him a strange look because he said "Doushite, sonna no kao?" (What's with that face?) and then he said "Please think about it" and then walked away.... GEH! I could confess to Takashi after that! NOW what do I do?!

So it's been a while, hm? Just thought I'd update you all on my "interesting" little life.

We got a new puppy! His name is Pogo, and he's about 11 weeks now. He's a toy Aussiedoodle (australian shepherd and poodle.) Aussiedoodles are pretty common, but the breeder guessed that there was maybe only 50 TOY ones in the WORLD! It feels cool to have a rare dog... our vet had never heard of him...

Also, we got our exchange studnet! Lol.. it's been a while already... actually, she's only here for about a week and a half more! D8 I'm also doing an internship at the hosting program, so I interact with Japanese students for about 8 hours a day... it's so fun! Not only does she have incredible anatomy, she has such an amazing skill working with colors! She can make blue look like skin tone, and purple like hair D8

Not only that, but the patterns she uses in her image are her own... she makes them herself! Her pictures are so detailed and so amazing...

So why am I saying this?

Because, after starting classes at the University of Minnesota, I realized I'm very... much... at average... if not less than.

I never used to have problems understanding anything in school. Homework would take me like.. 15 minutes. Everything just clicked. But college is... tough. Honestly, I dunno how to handle it.

I guess I'm not doing that badly. I'm getting a mixture of A's and B's at the moment. But, up until I started PSEO, I was a straight A student.

I probably sound like a spoiled brat... but it's really hard to be brought down like this... when I'm putting 20x the effort than I ever did before, and only getting B's for it. For some reason, it makes me want to giv eup trying altogether.

I'm sorry for this rant, but honestly... I dunno how much more of this I can take Quite honestly, I need some prayer power right now.

The thing he requested me to do is a character design for this manga he and his "friends" (I'm not quite sure what to call them) are creating. If he likes the character design, then there is a slight slight SLIGHT possibility that the character may be in the manga. So I was like "sure, sounds like fun" and all that.

He gave me an idea of what the characters outfit style is supposed to be and the time era that it takes place... so I go onto his deviantart page to see if I can find a link to a website or anything that has some drawings or whatever of characters already created. I saw a link in his journal... annnnddd.. I clicked it... [link]

And you won't believe what I found out... this is a serious thing. I am NOT kidding you... the manga is actually gonna be sold and whatever >.< And guess who one of the main artists is??!!!! Yeah.. I know... scary, right?

Anyway, I asked him for a basic outline of the story so that I know that I am creating a character that actually works... Omgosh, this thing is sooo like, professional! Heck, I hadda sign a "Non-Disclosure Agreement" stating that I wouldn't release any of the information. O_____o

So now, I am like totally stressed. I mean, the character design has to be reallllllyyyy good to get included in the manga... and I mean REALLY good.. (and still, the chances are slim) I really hope I can pull it off!!

(He is prolly sitting here and laughing at me for being so excited, but I mean, what are the chances??!)


On another note, I have almost reached the 2-year mark! Seriously. Already 2 years have gone by since I started to draw! (I didn't even like to draw before that lol)

The first thing was, I was reading a book late at night, and I fell asleep reading the book. Then, I woke up at 2 am and realized I needed to take a shower. So I took a shower and then headed upstairs to grab something before I went to sleep. Thne, my mom came downstairs so I hid, because I didn't want her to think I had been up until two.. BAD IDEA. From then on, I have a HORRIBLE punishment. Every time I want to go onto the computer, I have to ask her. And almost every time I ask her, she finds some job for me to do before I go onto the computer >.> So I have been avoiding the computer.

The other reason is... I GOT A JAPANESE FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT FINALLY!!!! O MAI GOSH!!!!! It's like panic mode! Seriously. Her name is Ran (pronounced kinda like Lawn) Kudou and she is 19. She is from Kumamoto Japan where she lives with her parents, 2 sisters, and her dog named Hime. She is ABSOLUTELY adorable. She can speak pretty good English (6 years of English are required in Japan) but it is still a little bit hard to communicate with her. But she is just too blasted ADORABLE!!!!!!! I mean. GRAAAAARRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!! Too cute!!! And she speaks all her words Japanese-like!! Now, down to business. First of all, I just wanted to let you know that I am doing a kiriban of sorta. Also.. guess what... TODAY IS MY B-DAY!!!! WHOOHOO!!!! I'm 15! Finally.. after a whole year of waiting >.< I am really excited.. I won't open gifts until this evening.. but I was allowed to open cards in the mail.. and I've already gotten $80! I am gonna buy a yukata with my money! Yayness! And its gonna be from Japan! -extra- I will love anyone a million bajillion times if they give me anyhting for my b-day (aka artwork ect.) lol! I tell you, one of the best aprts of my day so far has been hearing my name over the announcements in class today... i practically jumped up and everyon gave me weird looks heehee!

Weell.. what else should I talk about? Hmmm.... I know.. in Drawing I class today, we got out pictures taken so that we could draw a self portrait! I stuck my tongue out in the pic.. cuz I thought it would look hilarious! But I don't think I will do to well on the assignment. >.> Every time I try to draw a person that is supposed to resemble something, it ends up looking like crap! >.<

On another note, two days ago, my sister turned 3! Yay! If you wanna see a pic of my sweet lil sister, you can see this picture on imageshack [link] Ain't she ADORABLE!? In case you are wondering, my dad made her that tire swing for part of her b-day! She also got a TON of Dora teh Explorer stuff... I tell you.. she is OBSESSED! I counted like 20 something tings last time.. including a Dora bicycle!

I probably told a buncha you this already.. but in August, I GET A JAPANESE FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT TO STAY AT OUR HOUSE FOR A MONTH!!!!!! Isn't that sweet? This summer is gonna be great. On top of the exchange student, we got camping, drivers ed, confirmation, and I finally getta quit piano! I love piano, i really do, but after 9 years of lessons, its CRAZY! My teacher is starting to get lazy and she is driving me NUTS! -sigh-

Now onto the real journal stuff.

This past week has been my spring break. I am really depressed because we have to go back to school tomorrow. For all of you who didn't know, I am part homeschooled, but before you start telling me how lucky I am, I want to telly ou... I am not. lol. The first half of the year was really easy. That was becasue both my government and my scien e curriculem didn't work out so I only had a few subjects to work on.. but this half of the year I am taking both Algebra I and Drawing I at the highschool and doing, Physics, Government, English, Piano, Drama, Drivers Ed, and Bible study as well as my artwork. So I have been reaalllyy busy. ~dies~

But, on the bright side of things, the past week gave me a break and I finished two art pieces. I also went to the Mall of America (we live about an hour away from it) and bought a cheap anime and a J-pop CD. I also bought 4 more mangas! That makes, 47 mangas, 18 animes, 10 how to draw anime/manga books, 7 other drawing books, and 3 Japanese CDs, 4 Japanese language programs, and 5 different tools for learning Japanese... and surprisingly, I am not broke! I've still got like $200!

I should wrap this up.. sooooooo I might as well put a list of people that I watch up. In alphabetical order.
