No, not really a long-expected party. That would be far too interesting. I was just thinking about Lord of the Rings.
Thought, also, because I can juggle a quite astounding number of thoughts in my head at once, that I might write a new journal, because my last journal was talking about the summer, which is coming to a close, and to keep that up on my page would be just depressing. So here we go: Hurrah for fall, and school, and all that! Look at me, being excited! Not sad at all! Such a profitable summer! Not sorry it's over at all! ... yeah. Right.
On a more serious note, I have discovered the God of all cute things, and he is called Alan Davies. I first saw him on QI (BBC's quiz show, Quite Interesting, hosted by Stephen Fry. It is quite interesting.) but I didn't give him much attention. I mean, he was funny and good-looking and everything, but come on. You can't ask me to look past Stephen Fry. But then, I decided that this Alan Davies character was worth looking into a bit more, so I went on his IMdb page, looked at his profile, you know. Well, eventually, I found a show called "Jonathan Creek", and, as one does, I watched it. Well wasn't it just fantastic! Oh my God, if I may use the expression in a flattering, embarrassingly fangirlish way, Alan Davies was brilliant. He is absolutely adorable in that show, I love the character, I liked the storylines, in fact, I loved everything except for the other main character, Madeleine Magellan, who just sort of annoyed me. I suggest it very much to anyone. I'm halfway through the second season now, and it is just fantastic.
I am also starting to listen to radio dramas. I have, now, the Goon Show (inspired Monty Python), Beyond the Fringe (I think it had some or one of the Pythons in it), Absolute Power (came before the show, with Stephen Fry! and John Bird, very funny sort of political/ media satire), and Saturday Night Fry (with Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, and others, hilarious, very much like A Bit of Fry and Laurie), and am trying to get a hold of I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again (John Cleese). So far, they are absolutely terrific, especially useful when you are working out or something. It's like sitting down and waqtching a television show, without all the grief from those who think you should be doing something more productive.
Reading? Oh, yes, I still do that. Right now, I am reading the Adventures of Sally, a decent PG Wopdehouse, so far. They are so much fun to read; I only wish I'd discovered the author a few years earlier. I feel a bit silly carrying around these books with me, but no matter; I like them enough to feel silly. I also just finished one I'd tried and failed to read before: "The Historian", by Elizabeth Kostova. Great read, very spooky, very informative. Learned more than I had ever wanted to know about Vlad Tepes and the Dracula legend, but I really enjoyed it. It ruined the movie "Blade" for me though; having just read this terrific, moving piece, some guy and his cowboy saying "Let's get those motherfucking vampires with our large over-compensating swords" to each other really didn't cut it for me.
Drawing-wise, I haven't progressed much. I've started painting a bit; not very well, nothing I've yet had the courage to put up here. Mostly acrylics; it's been quite fun. I've done... let's see... a portrait of my grandmother, my little sister (which, incidentally, I made into a puzzle for her birthday), and some other, irrelevant stuff. If anyone has any magical solutions for painting, or more specifically, not being able to, please post them.
Writing. I do that too, occasionally, between games of Solitaire. One of my more fun things I've put up here; the other is too long. Again, can't say much here, there's nothing to say.
Summer has come to a close. It has been spent for the most part looking after small children. Fun fun. I am excited to start school (in a very miniscule, determinedly optimistic way). I get to read History this year, which may be fairly interesting. I also start Spanish -- useful, I guess.
Finally, Diet Dr Pepper is no substitute for Dr Pepper, and tastes vaguely of cat's piss, and I like iced cappucinos very much. That's not important, just a piece of general advice for the future.
Cheers.

Hello,
Thought it was a time for a change on the front page - my last entry complained of examinations, which are now all over, and which, happily, I passed well. Not much new here (is there ever really anything new during the summer?). I've been putsing around, biding my time. I have not been able to accomplish an incredible amount, because my computer has died and gone to computer-hell, where I hope it will burn and melt just like it did in life. Mmm, nothing smells better than burning plastic. My dad and I even replaced part of the dratted cord (involving lots of cutting and re-wrapping and lighters and electrical savvy - sorry, guesses - and so on), so that the whole machine looked like one of Frankenstein's creations. Granted, it was eight years old or so, but it was bloody frustrating. As it happened, the motherboard was shot, and ironically, because the computer was so old it would cost as much as a new computer to replace. You'd think the old computers would need more fixing, and their parts would be cheaper! But nooo. So I'm ordering another one (hurrah!) cos Dell is having a sale, and it should arrive on the twenty-third. I am most excited, but I found out that I am very dependent on the blasted machine, and living without one has been a form of intense torutre to me.
Anyways, I am utilising my dad's work-computer at the moment, so all is well (for now). ANNNDD I am extremely pleased because - that's right - I finally found somewhere to download "Kingdom"! It's this fantastic series, just aired in May, I believe, starring Stephen Fry, who is my hero. It follows a sort of solicitor in the country, and it's cute, I really enjoy it. I watched the first episode three times on Youtube, as that was the only place I could find it and there was but the first one, but, I found a website (www.veoh.com) which allows me to download all of them! Hurrah hurrah! I have just finished the second one, which was as good as the first, made me laugh and cry and all that, and the other two are at 60.3 and 56.7 % downloaded, respectively (another half-hour to wait on my part).
Book-wise, I have finally finished "The Old Curiosity Shop" and good Lord was it long. I mean to say, the characters were enjoyable enough, but the storyline moved along at the pace of an arthritic turtle, and I was incredibly bored by the end. On another note, I read James Joyce's "Dubliners", which is a collection of short stories, written in the early 1900s I reckon, all looking at different people living in London. No, that was a joke, it's Dublin, really. I quite liked it, read it in about two days. I hope to buy more of his stuff at my used book shop. And, what sort of person would I be if I had not read the new Harry potter? A much cooler one. But, that aside, I did enjoy it, though bits of it made me angry, especially bits in tents for eight long, drawn-out months.
Art, I've been drawing a bit, mostly sketches from screenshots of Blackadder (which I own doncha know!), also took my very first art class! and discovered that I can't paint for love or money. Ah well. Got to use neat things, though, like India ink and willow sticks, stuff I'd never think to go out and buy, but which was very interesting to experiment with.
Cheers.

Yes...
THEY'RE HEEERRE
Bloody exams. I can not stand them. I detest them. I loathe them. But they refuse to go away. I am somewhat insane at the moment, as I have studied for four and a half hours straight today. I had to stop, however; there are only so many times you can read the problems facing the forestry industry before the words you are seeing cease to mean anything altogether. I swear, by the last time I was reading through my notes, I could nearly recite them from memory. Not a bad thing, I suppose, but this is still as boring as hell. You may notice that I have selected my mood as "dead", which may seem like a joke, but I mean it quite literally.
On that note, I have not had time to do anything art-wise, and as for writing, it is very limited at the moment. I did, however, receive a brand new leather notebook from a friend of my step-mum's which is just lovely. I plan to write things in it. Generally, that is what you do with notebooks. But, ah, important things. I always seem to have strange conversations with people wherever I am, and they all put in their witticisms - things I'd like to include in some of my stories, and I always wish I had a piece of paper or summat to write them down in. Well, now, I do. So I am quite excited about that.
That is all, for the moment. I shall be more active in exactly eleven days, when I will be free from the grips of exams for-ever. Well, for the summer at least.
Cheers.

Quick update, as I've nothing better to do, and am successfully procrastinating against studying for geography. So.
Reading-wise, I've given up on Morte D'Arthur - it was a nice idea, but far too dull and poorly structured. It will take more than good ol' determination and prodding from Mr. Fallis to give me a love for Old English. So, I've gone back to PG Wodehouse! That's right! I love those books. They're a hilarious, light read - though I'm all out of Jeeves & Woosters I'm afraid. That's alright, my birthday approaches ... *hint*
As for new shows and that, watched a couple old British comedies (On the Buses, The Young Ones) which were both very funny, but not something I'd totally fall in love with. On the other hand, I've just found a new series Stephen Fry is doing for ITV called "Kingdom"... sadly ITV is not something readily available to me, and I could only get the first episode on the internet. Which I have watched three times in the past three days. It's an awesome series, about a country solicitor in the north of England, with a crazy dysfunctional family - it has moments of being funny, but was also quite sad at times - Stephen Fry's character's brother and business partner killed himself before it began. Wow. Watch that show, it is absolutely amazing. That is all I can say.
Drawing, not much to say. I have a couple of things to post from when I was away, as soon as I can get to a scanner and a computer that actually works long enough to scan things.
Had a strange dream, in which I carried around a fish, which looked like a parrot, in a plastic bag all day, and called it Wanda. That's not relevant to anything; just strange.
Right-ho. I'm going to go play around on Facebook now, because I've joined the cult and can't figure out what I'm to do now, aside from look at other people's names. Which I already know, so there seems to be very little point to the whole thing.

Hello -
Just writing a neat little update for all those who care - all of whom, of course, I can count on two fingers. Aside from the fact that I just looked at my last entry and thought to myself 'oo-er been nearly a month now, best update soon' because that is the cool sort of person I am, I was also tagged to do a quiz, which will be shown following the main journal entry. The meat of it, if you will. The bulk, the large middle portion, the essence, the core, the nucleus, the 'juicy bits with tits'.
I must put in here that if anything vaguely resembling this, or parts of this journal, has shown up twice in your message-box, I sincerely apologize, but it's not my fault. My sodding mouse is sodding screwy again. It's for a lap-top, right, so it always clicks on things when I don't, which is extraordinarily frustrating. Blame it, if you must.
As far as drawing goes, I've a little to report. I have started this new thing, where instead of simply using one, darkish pencil (usually 6B or so), I begin first by doing a layer of HB shadow, then 2B, then 4B and so on. I've found the effect to be quite nice, makes everything look fairly smooth, which is never a bad thing. I just did a sketch this way that I'm pretty pleased with, of "Huge" Laurie.
Speaking of ol' Hugh, can I say that I've just discovered Blackadder? And that it's fantastic? Oh my GOD, I'd never seen it before (too young, I guess) and it is a beautiful thing. Baldrick is my hero. Here, for example, is Baldrick's pièce de resistance, his, er, novel : "Once upon a time there was a lovely little sausage called Baldrick, and it lived happily ever after." It's semi-autobiographical.
What else, what else... just finished reading Stephen Fry's autobiographies, speaking of them. What an interesting person. I definitely reccomend that, as well as his other books. As I said, most... interesting. Also, I just bought Michael Palin's novel, which I am gearing up to read, as well as Morte D'Arthur (The original King Arthur story) by Sir Thomas Malory, which I am mentally preparing myself to read. He writes in a special way, that only bloody Shakespeare has managed since.
I am going abroad this week, which is most exciting, but also means that nothing will be submitted. Not that I've been submitting things regularly, anyways. I'm going to the French/Dutch St. Martin, which is very exciting. It will be nice and hot and, what is more, will have no school in it.
Also, tonight, I am going to see Billy Joel, live in concert! My favorite (American, alive) singer! Hooray! Soo excited for this as well. I certainly have quite the week ahead of me!
That is all, now. As promised, here's the quiz:

Rules: Not sure on the exact phrasing here - basically, post a comment and you get a letter, you can then put it in your journal or whatever. You have to think of five ethings that you like beginning with the letter you are given.

I got "P" from <devsilver-cobra>

1. Popcorn. Because my mind will always turn to food first.
2. Puck. Who doesn't love male fairies in tights. Honestly.
3. Porpoises. My favorite aquatic animal.
4. POWER. Because someone should have it, someone who's not Mr. Bush.
5. And - finally - Pythons. Bet you didn't see that coming.

Cheers to all two of you that read this, and congratulations if you've gotten this far without smashing in your monitor.

Yes! For that is precisely the purpose of my journal to-night. I aim to be entertaining, witty, and generally to enrapture you as an audience, compelling you to read the rest of the submission. Not that I will be, of course. In fact, there's a great possibility that the vast majority of readers will have dropped off by now. They read the first line, figure that the author is either a bore, unliked, or mentally deficient, and continue happily on with their day, not knowing what they could have missed. Such are the trials of an dabbling writer.
I must, first off, give a mention to Jeeves and Wooster, not only the television series with the incomparably funny Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, but also to the P.G. Wodehouse books, which I have begun reading and are absolutely hilarious. If you read nothing else, read these. They are light, funny, and a general delight to read. Also, I recommend About a Boy which is really cute, just read that as well and I can't wait to see the film.
Films! Speaking of them: Brazil. To those who have seen it and those who have not, the simple word probably evoked many the "What the hell is that?"s. That, my friends, is the most bizarre film I have ever seen, but probably one of the best. From the peculiar but genius mind of Terry Gilliam (who else?) it is like a spy movie on crack. But better. There are no words to descrie Brazil. Watch it. Ten times. You still won't understand it.
As for drawing, on this end, I am fairly pleased. I've got a load of things that I mean to put up on DA, but little time alone with the old scanner, so expect more as soon as I can get my hands on it. I've been drawing my countless siblings now, which has been quite the endeavour (once I draw one, it's only right that I should draw all the others, which takes up a fair bit of time). Oooh, and my Aunt was able to procure a 9B pencil for me. 9B! I've never so much as touched one of those! I haven't used it yet, mind you; too afraid. Also, some water-soluble pencils that I've tried but don't really get the point of.
Writing. I've been avoiding it. As I am now. (But you're writing now, surely, you argue? Well, this isn't proper writing, now is it? It doesn't count.) Wrote a quick short-story, which I've posted, and you're welcome to read, and have been making slow-but-steady progress on The Novel (namely, half a sentence every three or four games of Solitaire).
That's all on my end. Spending spring break looking after a four-year-old, which is a bundle of joy for me, as you can imagine. And I have to mention in here somewhere that Stephen Fry considers The DaVinci Codea... how did he put it now? Arse water? Loose stool water? Something to that effect. In any case, we have a consensus! Anyone with such good 'speakingness' as him definitely has substance in his opnions, and may I say that finally someone recognizes that blasted book for the insult to the English language it really is! Now that that's off my chest... Consider Yourselves Updated! (Neat catch phrase eh? Not quite as catchy as "And now for Something Completely Different" though. I'll have to work that in somewhere next time.)

Fat Bottomed Girls – Queen ((I’m so glad that my husband will like me for my personality. How delightfully inappropriate.))

------------------------------------

In other news, Happy Valentine's Day to all, even though I find it a stupid holiday and a waste of time and money. Probably because I'm single, and past the age where you just get candy and chocolates from everyone. Seriously, though, why do we need a holiday to be "in love'? What's the bloody point? Cheers.

I'd like to announce that Leigh has just had a lovely baby girl (I say lovely, though I actually haven't seen it yet. One can only assume. It still has the potential to be a piece of Salami, as my brother Jake suggested, but I'm hoping he was wrong on that count.) I owe Jillian 2 bucks- evidently I backed the wrong horse when I surmised it was a boy. Anyways, yes, apparently she's just beautiful, happy and healthy, called, for the moment- as they have not fully decided- Lauren. So, hooray for Lauren! Yay, very excited as you can tell.

---EDIT TERMINATED---

Hello, inspired by ~Silver-cobra or possibly obscene amounts of caffeine, I have decided to update my journal once again. It could be, also, that the last quiz I did was incredibly pointless and annoying to have on my front page. In either case, or in all of the cases previously mentioned, here I am writing yet another journal. Fascinating? Of course. Rambling, am I? Most likely, knowing myself. Onto other matters!
Reading Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray and I must say, it is FANTASTIC. Quickly becoming one of my favorite books. Each page is filled with so many insights into human nature and society in that time- I have to read each sentence about three times to fully understand it. Anyways, totally gripping so far, definitely a must-read. Oh, AND it had the quote 'The only thing worse than being talked about, is not being talked about'. Sweet.
I went book-shopping today- where I got Dorian Gray- and also acquired some other neat titles. King Arthur, for one, and I'm counting on the fact that the author lived to finish this one (here's looking at YOU Mr. John Steinbeck!). Also, Dickens stuff, D.H. Lawrence, and Beowulf. Can't wait to read them, all looks 'verynice'.
Writing a sequel to my novel- which is very fun. Surprisingly. The last story I wrote, I realised 96 pages into it- that it was absolute rubbish. That was a bit of a blow, but no matter... if nothing else, I've learned that fantasy is not my genre. So far, I've only been able to really do present-day stuff. It's interesting... I would love to do a sort of period piece, but I can never find the time to do the research.
Drawing-wise, not much to report on. I think I'm improving a it, which is nice, but stil not GOOD good. Good for me personally good, but not GOOD good. Yes. I bought myself a new set of Nobel pencils, which are THE BEST. All the others seem incredibly hard and... scratchy compared with Nobel. I'd been looking everywhere for them, except I didn't know what they were called, so finally I went to the 'big' art shop and just looked and for-ever until I found them. I also got 2B mechanical lead, which I did not know existed, but is very cool.
I watched Cars today. Which is pretty sad in and of itself. I made my little sister watc it with me, though, so I didn't appear totally pathetic. I'm sorry- I love Pixar films. All of them. I'd really wanted to see Cars. Sad? Of course. Pathetic? Definitely. Unecessary? Well, it was a really good movie...
Speaking of watching things, 24 begins tomorrow, which is very exciting. More Jack-Bauer-pointlessly-shooting-at-things! Yesssss. The American dream. My favorite character (Tony Almeida) was tragically knocked off last season, but even so. One can't help but be excited. Plus, they got Eric Balfour back (EEEK MILO!) from the 1st season, which totally rocks. Sort of because he's a pretty good actor that will bring more depth to the show, but 95% because he is very very good-looking.
Yes, well, my caffeine buzz is lessening somewhat now, so I think I'd better quit while I'm not too far behind, and apparently still awake.
Cheers.

Rules:
The 1st player of this "game" starts with the topic "6 weird habits/things/hates about yourself"

People who get tagged MUST write a journal about their 6 weird habits/things/hates as well and state this rule clearly.

In the end, you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list their names. I'm not going to, though, because I'm a nice person. If you want to, go ahead. If not, I really don't give a crap.

1. I don't bite my hair, or nails, or anything, but when I'm nervous, or just bored, I'll spin the rings I wear on my hand, usually my right thumb- or pointer- ring.
2. I hate that I can not, will not participate in sports for love or money.
3. I write and draw most happily late at night- 12:00 onwards.
4. I have an extremely addictive personality, and will become almost fanatical about certain things for a while. Then I become normal and appreciate them as would an average person. (Ex. 24, Law and Order, LotR, etc.)
5. I hate my feet.
6. I drink tea ALMOST CONSTANTLY. If I'm not with a cup in my hand, I'm asking someone to put the kettle on.

Here's a nice little update on Christmas, because I have had a damned quiz on my front page for nearly a month, and it is annoying and pointless. (Like meee! ) Oh by the way, I'm not at all sociable, but I loved the emoticon guy's little bowler cap.
Welcome to KAlmeida on DeviantArt.
Er, yes.
Normally she is smart and witty and quick but right now she just can't manage it, as she's just eaten about her own weight in turkey.
Ugh. She's also taken to referring to herself in the third person, apparently.
Why, you might ask, would I put so much thought into a mere journal entry? The answer is simple. I HAVE INTERNET ON MY LAPTOP!!! Yes, that's right, I finally got a wireless card! Yesss. MERRY (or Pippin, if you swing that way) Christmas! Also got Fawlty Towers on DVD (guess what I'll be doing the rest of winter break!) and a neat book on writing in Canada. Cool clothes too.
Julia comes tomorrow! Very very excited to see her ( ) !!! If she or Justine would be so kind as to tell me when she is arriving or when she has arrived I'll be very much obliged!
IN OTHER NEWS- I'm really tired. I just don't really want to do this right now. My interest level has just gone down the tubes. Bugger it, I'm off to bed.

Hello all-
Just thought I'd give a quick update. I'm trying to make it a monthly thing you know, but this school thing is really putting quite a damper on that. I was motivaed by my desire to rid myself of the quiz on my front page- it was entirely too long, and besides, I'm bored of it. I find it really freshens up your page if your journal is fairly up-to-date. Weeellll, that's a bit hypocritical on my part- I see now that there's usually 4 to 8 weeks in between my journals. But still.
I have to put this in, because it is really bothering me. The proper use of the english language. Now, I am not referring to when you're on an IMing service, like MSN, or when you are casually chatting with your friends. But when you are writing something that will be published you should at the very least make sure that you are not using informal words or slang, and that the structure of your sentences is correct, except in very rare cases where it suits the idea. I say this because I was given a piece of literature to study today in English, and the writing was absolutely terrible. I think that I can now describe myself as a casual writer, having finished a novel, and I could not believe that we had been given this as an assignment. Honestly! They used the word bam! once, and I am sure that at least a third of the sentences began with and. So, I urge everyone to rebel and write properly.
Good, I am glad that's off my chest. What else is happening? I joined the debate team for the first time, which was most interesting. I was assigned the negative side to 'Be It Resolved that abortion should be outlawed', and actually I have learned quite a bit from visiting pro-choice websites for the last hour as a part of my research. While I am not sure that I advocate either position, all I can comment on is that the pro-choice guys on this Vancouver site put up an excellent and substantial argument- as will I on the debate on Wednesday!
I'm reading 'The Dark Arena', by Mario Puzo (author of the Godfather), and while I do not like it yet quite as much as I did the Godfather, I still find it very interesting. The style is different from his other novels, which creates some variety. I am also on an on-again off-again relationship with CS Lewis' 'That Hiddeous Strength'. I find that once I read the first two or three chapters of his science-fiction, I can not put the book down, but getting to that point is pure drudgery. Still, though, his style of writing is incredible.
I'm taking an art course now, the first I have ever taken. Before, honestly, I learned by browsing this site and looking at others' technique and tools, then going down to a local shop and buying some of the art supplies I saw there. It is neat to have someone actually explain how to properly colour, or draw certain elements, and I adore the art history. It really makes you think of all the centuries of people who will only be remembered through their paintings.
As for myself, I am not drawing as much, because I am VERY busy right now- I have about ten tests this week that I really should be studying for. As of yet, my notes are still in a pile on the floor of my locker. I should be alright- or so I hope- because the French is farily easy, the BTT is nothing more than simple remembering, and a couple others are open-book. I am also having trouble finding subjects to draw, or really impressive photographs worthy of a sketch. If anyone has any, they may let me know, and I will probably draw them, so long as the light/ shadow contrast is adequate. My printer can not pick up subtle or non-existant shadows.
Not much politically to say- still not impressed with Bush. Unfortunately, I've been so exhausted by homework lately that I have been going to sleep at 11pm, which does not allow me to watch the Daily Show or the Colbert Report, the primary sources of my American news, and I have no idea when the Rick Mercer Report on CBC is on again.
You know, I think journals are a way for me to write an article without publishing it in a newspaper. I do need that outlet, to express my opinions. I do have quite a few. Anyways...
Cheers.

Hey all,
thought I'd update my journal, because my other one has ceased to make any sense at all. It lies, bereft of sense, and is in the ground pushing up daisies! It has rung up the curtain and joined the choir invisible! It's passed on! That journal is no more! That is an EX-JOURNAL!!!
Right. Moving on.
Started school recently. Very big and intimidating. It took me fifteen minutes to navigate myself to the front door! Oh yes-- did I mention that there's eight front doors, all of which people consider 'main'? Well there are. Try asking for directions to the right one.
Have this incredibly difficult teacher. He speaks in a freaking high-pitched monotone. Oh, and he doesn't stop talking. He just goes on, and on, and on, until midway through the class I end up with a headache. I swear, his voice would not change from 'Open your textbooks' to 'There's a gunman with a Bazooka at the door'. In fact, I just swear at him period.
The art teacher is really nice, as is the French one. No issues with them. The English teacher sets out all these unecessarily complex tasks, makes us do them to his exact specifications, and makes us redo them if they're at all wrong, which is a bit bizarre, but he's pretty funny.
Drawing- don't have exorbitant amounts of time anymore, due to LOTS of homework (already!) so there won't be as much as there was during the summer. I'm on a bit of a Monty Python kick right now as to who I'm drawing, but that's liable to change once ER and 24 and everything comes back.
I'm afraid that for once I don't have any political opinions! There just isn't enough time in a day to follow it as attentively as I would like to. Obviously Harper hasn't screwed up too terribly yet, or else I'd know about it. *wary watchfulness*
I will say this about Bush though: Get your ass down to New Orleans you pig! Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of Elderberries!! All jokes aside, though, come on, dude. You've got people living in holes and with half a roof, and you're spending 40 mil a day in fucking Iraq?
Liquid bomb scare-pretty freaky. Stephen Colbert did a really funny bit on it, listing all the liquids he liked to bring on the plane with him. ("Myu own urine-so my enemies can't get ahold of it,...") and his pet goldfish named Anthrax. ("I'll always walk up to the security guards and say 'Don't worry- I am carrying Anthrax.... I make them stripsearch me, whether they want to or not. You just can't be too careful.") He did this awhile ago, but it is still really funny.
Okay, maybe I have a couple opinions.
Reading some CS Lewis sci-fi stuff, really good, and something called 'The Crimson Petal and the White'- about prostitutes and stuff. I'm only on page ten, so no reviews yet. Also reading The Pythons by the Pythons, but it is enormous and I can't bring it anywhere, so its a very slow read. REally interesting facts though.

Well, that's all for now, folks. I may add more later as I see fit. Cheers!

Hi all-
Thought I'd make a new journal, as my old one is really outdated and makes little to no sense.
Yep. Not much to say. A man of few words, I am.
Or woman.
Whatever.
Soooo it's summer. Not much happenning. Saw a couple really good movies. You Me & Dupree was quite funny, and Pirates of the Carribean was extremely exciting, at points I had to look away. Jumped out of my skin more than once.
Went up to the cottage and built a zillion docks! It's actually quite easy. After the first hundred, you really know what to do...
No, I'm exagerating.
A little.
Watched a lot of Monty Python. My god, those guys are funny. Wow. Every time I watch any one of their skits, I laugh hysterically. I've tried to pick a favorite 'Python', but it's impossible. They're all so clever and sooo funny! Same with their skits. I love the Hungarian Translation Book skit, as well as the Learning how to fly one with Graham Chapman hanging from the wire. Seen them many times over. I just can't see how people don't 'get it'. It's freaking hilarious!!!!!
Almost finished the first season of 24. Very intense. Jack Bauer can do a lot for a man who has had no sleep in 36 hours, no food, and who does not seem to have any need to use the washroom at any point.
World news- pretty astounding! The whole situation with Lebanon (sp?) is crazy. Jon Stewart did a really funny -but accurate- summary of the whole thing on the Daily Show. He said something to the effect that Israel was going to bomb 'here andd here and here and here', and their goal was to crack Lebanon open and shake the terrorists out. I don't think it's right that Israel should be harming civilians to get to the Hizbollah. Like Bush; shoot first, think later. Who really needs to deal with consequences when you've got the big guns?
I've got to say, though, good for you, Stephen Harper. I'll admit I was not his biggest supporter at election time. I thought he was an unfeeling, robotic idiot who would screw up moments after being sworn in. Well, apart from his odd behaviour towards the press and his appointment of the lawyer from Montreal to the Senate (something he had promised not to do), I was wrong. Well, at least about the idiotic part. It seems that he's playing his cards right, at least for now. I've been holding my breath, waiting for him to do something unforgiveable. I'm still in suspense. I was rather impressed when he went into Lebanon with his plane and evacuated those Canadians. Good on him.
Still writing my novel, on page 115 or so, normal MS Word format. However, I resized the pages just for fun, basing my measurments on that of another book, and it was like 350 pages! Crazy. Haven't done much research, but I know a little more about 'Jihad's and Wahhabism. Google is truly amazing.
Read a lot; Cross Bones, John Grishams, Bridget Jones, Seabiscuit, and a bunch of others that I can't seem to recall at the moment. Couldn't get into 'Emma', so I put it down. I'll try again later. Reading The King of Torts, a lawyer book by John Grisham right now. It's standard is just as high as all of his other books. Awesome read. It's about a low-paid public defender, turned millionaire because of a deal he struck with a corporation manufacturing bad drugs. 5% of the people who take the drugs inexplicably kill someone, with no apparent motive. The lawyer has become incredibly corrupt. I love it.
Have a new used LOTR computer game. Pretty awesome. It's like one that Justine has, Populus or Population or something, but instead of just workers and fighters you have Middle Earth workers and Gondor Swordsmen and all the heroes of the Third Age. So far I've only met Gimli. Oh well...
Not much else to report. As far as drawing goes, I'm not doing much of it. Usually I'm like 'Bam! Bam! Bam!' and do three pictures in one night, but I'm getting easily frusterated when I can't shape an eye just right or whatever, so I've got a lot of either half-finished or really crappy pictures in my sketchbook, but not much worth uploading to DA.
I might add more later, but Jon Stewart's starting up any minute now, and I still have to boil some water for tea!
Cheers

Okay, just gotta rant a bit-
I just finished readind 'My Friend Leonard' by James Frey (he also wrote 'A Million Little Pieces', the book that Oprah got so pissed at). Anyway, this is the sequel and it is SOO SAD. First his girlfriend that he was like in love with kills herself (!) then he dates a bunch of other people who he breaks up with, then he makes a bunch of films but they flop. But the worst part, his friend Leonard- this really great character- DIES OF AIDS!!! OMFG. It's so sad, cause at the end, Leonard wants to go with dignity, so he tells James to respect his decision like he did Lilly's, and kills himself with a bottle of painkillers. Then, as if I weren't sad enough, James takes the ashes to this one golf course Leonard always wanted to play on, but never got to, and spreads them. That part sounds a little weird but there's a whole story behind it. It was amazing and beautiful but SO SAD.

Hey, just thought I'd point this out-
On DA they most certainly base all of the advertisements on our user pages on our deviations & journals. For example, MiaVoot said she was going to Mt Tremblant, so there are a bunch of ads for that on hers. Tav must have mentioned 'goth' at some point, because there's an ad for 'Sex Goth'. Oh my. And on mine, of course, there are 24-related ads.
Also, did you know Kiefer Sutherland has a drinking problem??? I just saw it on ET!
Ok, well once, but that doesn't count. Tony, that is, not Dr. Vandertramp. Also, EDGAR? and CHLOE? My god! There have been rumours!!! But the NERVE GAS killed PEOPLE but then Jack Bauer saved a little girl and there was god music. And has everyone forgotten that he broke his rib? And what about the stupid little boy that's in love with Jack and his redneck mother? And Vanessa? And what the hell happened to bringing in Kim Bauer? Jeez, the inconsistencies are killing me! Oh but then there's Walt Cummings. He's coooooooool but he's dead.
