Hey guys! Looks like I found this so-called "official" dA journal layout. It's not really official, but it is a layout, and it does have some neat stuff in it. I did notice that a lot of people using this have broken 'wishlist' and 'rint' buttons. Apparently the creator of the layout neglected to include complete code for these two links. I have fixed that in this one and I probably ought to let him know to fix it or include that in his installation instructions. Ah well.

Expect this page to be changing quite a bit soon; I'm not completely satisfied with this layout and I'll be changing it as I see fit.

Anyways, since I can freely type now that my roommate isn't asleep, I'll let everyone know what's been up with everything lately. First off, for the one or two of you out there who were actually paying attention to my deviations: I'm sorry I haven't posted in forever. I run a few servers for a small webhosting company I've been trying to get off the ground for a while now. I thought it might seem more scholarly of me to have my photos and art on a personal domain name rather than the MySpace of artists. After slowly adding things to my main gallery, I realized I needed a less portfolio-ish place to put the rest of the OK-enough stuff I produce. Thus we have my Coppermine-based gallery. But the only people who see that stuff are those I link directly to it. Parts of that gallery are even invisible and password-protected. And it's a lot of work to have to email everyone I know every time I post something new.

And so here I am, back on deviantART, posting stuff again. If you've bothered to glance at my past journal entries, you'll remember seeing that I whined about being stuck with the name "KabakaLion," and may have wondered what the big deal was. I'll try to summarize this a bit, here, but I can't go into too many details just for the sake of not making this way too long.

Okay, that's not true. I'll still get an A on it. But I want to sleep so I don't feel like crap. I'm perfectly awake right now. I slept 6 hours after about noon. For me, that's enough to last a day. But I finished it after night had started, so about the time I get halfway through my day tomorrow, I'll just pass out. That's no good.

It occurs to me now that I don't know why I'm complaining about this on here of all places. If you read this, I'm sorry to have wasted your time. I think I'll go lay in bed for another few hours and see if I happen to fall asleep this time.

I've always loved fantasy in general. Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter; all of those sorts are at the top of my list of favorite movies. Narnia recently fought it's way to the number one position on my list. The Lion King has sat there for a long time. I now have decided that The Lion King (and its two sequels) are to be considered separate from other movies and not compared. That just makes ranking them much easier. As such, my favorite movies before today were as follows:

1. The Chronicles of Naria: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe
2. Dragonheart
3. The Lord of the Rings (I consider the trilogy as one story)
4. Two Brothers
5. Star Wars (once again, all one story, all one spot in my list)

Those are my top five, and this is the first time I have ever shared that order. Not a lot of people know I love Dragonheart as much as I do. Not a lot of people have even heard of the movie. But those who have always love it. The few that do know I liked the movie surely do not know how much. I believe a large part of why I love it so much has to do with the dragon -- as I said, I have this deep attachment to them. I don't understand where it came from or why it's there, nor do I understand why I have a collection of lions and yet only one or two dragon-related items in my possession. In all truth, I ought to have a balanced collection. The Lion King has a special place in my heart, so I do wish to continue collecting related things, but still...

After seeing Eragon, I am left with the familiar feeling that reminds me of being depressed; it's a feeling I often get after seeing a movie like that. I suppose one could conclude that it is simply a longing to become a part of the story. That might very well be it, as I do very much wish I could have jumped right in and become a part of what was happening. The entire time, I was unbelievably jealous of Eragon. I wish more than anything to be so lucky as to even see a dragon. It's an unhealthy sort of obsession, I know. But it's the kind that makes me feel happy, even if it is a desire that shall never be fulfilled.

At this point, it occurs to me that I don't really know why I'm writing all of this in my deviantART journal. I could just of easily have written this somewhere people might actually read, or better yet, somewhere that nobody may ever see. It isn't the kind of thing I expect a lot of people to have the time to sit and go through, nor do I expect to get a lot of feedback on it. But nevertheless, I feel like pouring out what I feel, and this page just happened to be easy to get to since I was already on dA, searching fruitlessly for some pictures of Saphira, the dragon in Eragon, which accurately reproduced the look the movie gave her.

I cannot seem to focus enough on this page to continue writing about this; I've become rather involved in finding and obtaining everything related to Eragon. As such, I shall end here, saying that everyone should see Eragon at least once. If you like action, this movie never stops. If you don't like long movies, this one is good (if you're like me.. it feels short.. but the end makes it okay). If you like things that are entertaining, you'll love this. Go see it a few times. I'll be back at the theater soon to see it again.

Bleh.

In other news...

I'll be taking a final for one of the college classes I'm in: Intro to UNIX. That class was so pointless. I think I studied all of maybe an hour and thirty minutes for this test. And I don't think that I really benefited from that. I'm in another rather difficult class, CCNA certification stuff.. I'm going to take that final on Friday. I still can't decide what classes I should take next semester there.. I want them to be online classes like they were this time. I'm thinking one of them will be Adobe Photoshop, but that may end up being stupider than the UNIX class. I've taught myself as much about Photoshop as I have been able to figure out there is to be learned over the last several years.

I'll figure something out... For now, I must force myself to go to school.. and not go in early to make up a test I've been needing to. If I did that today I'd probably just scribble on the paper like a 2-year-old instead of write down the answers. I'm so tired. **dies**

A few days ago, my mother's friend was having computer problems, and asked me what they should do about it. The problems were just the usual ones: Slow operation, programs hang, virus scan only starts to run one out of five tries. I managed to help them get to the machine where it was running minimally, and told them that I would try to come over sometime soon. The next day, I had to deal with taking the ACT, and the day after that, they were busy. So that left tonight. Earlier in the day, I arranged to come over between 6:00 and 7:00 pm. At 6:10 pm I called confirm the time and said I'd be right over. About a quarter of the way there, I got a call on my cell phone -- I was to return home and wait until 7:30, while someone used the mostly broken computer so they didn't have to "lose momentum" on their work.

Now, that's not such a big deal, really. But this week is a pretty tough one. I'm in high school, yes, but I'm also concurrently enrolled in a few college classes. Finals are this week, so I've got lots of studying to do. I've also got a social life to plan around. Nothing special to me, just life. But you know how it goes.. Right before I left, I had just finished studying for one of my finals when a good friend called. We were talking and having a rather enjoyable conversation, but I had to cut it short and leave. I got back with the intent to call again and resume the discussion. Naturally, the phone they are currently stuck using has a bad habit of not working well enough.

So it's been about an hour since I got back now and I'll I've really done is poked around dA a bit and chatted with people about me being mad. Oh well. I like to make things seem bigger than they are... (macro lens rules)

Either way, I've been going through a lot of my old pictures and making something decent out of a few of them. I've only got a Canon Powershot S410, a rather old "4 megapixel" camera that is actually 3.8 megapixels. This is significant, as most stock photography websites will only take and sell photos at least 4 megapixels in size. Kind of upsetting, but the way I see it, it's barely worth the trouble with some of those sites as my photos would be competing with thousands of much better images.

Another thing I've been having a lot of fun with is a freeware program I found which is able to stitch together several overlapping pictures to make one large panoramic shot of very high resolution. The largest I've yet created is approximately 13 megapixels in size. Of course, in hopes of keeping some potential money-making usefulness to myself, I'm only uploading incredibly downsized versions of these panoramas. This website is hardly a good place to make money, though. It was kind of a fallback site for me since none of the stock sellers would take me. I figure I can get some good critique from this place and improve my work. We'll see how that goes, though.

I also decided it might be worthwhile to subscribe. I went for one month for now -- my PayPal account was 5 cents short of three months, but that's alright. I'll deal with it after Christmas, I suppose.. Really hope that's going to be worth it.. at least more worth it than it was to type it on here. Just rambling now. Ah well.
