It's been a while! I've continued to be super busy with school and stuff... @_@

Anyway, since I'm graduating in May, I've been interviewing for full-time jobs. When interviewers ask me about what I do in my spare time, I always talk about how I love digital art. I'd really like to show them my skills with some art samples, but all my stuff is Sonic-related... and I'm too embarrassed to show that!

(Do any of you show your fanart to non-fans or people irl?)

So, I want to do a pic that's not fanart, but that involves people in some way, shape or form, as opposed to being abstract... but definitely something expressive... Can you hit me with some ideas, plz?

THE DEBATE!!!

On to business!!! I have often debated people about the respective meanings on geek, nerd, and dork. The history of the debate is actually quite fascinating. It reportedly began in 46 BC when Julius Caesar, according to historical documents, called Cassius a "nerdious maximus" and Brutus a "dorkus malorkus." Outraged, the two quarreled as to which was the greater insult, but then of course settled their dispute by assassinating Caesar in 44 BC.

Anyway, these are the definitions that I for one stand by:
Nerd: someone who does nerdy things (programming, gaming, fanfiction, memorizing digits of pi, quoting Star Trek, etc...) and has trouble relating to non-nerdy people (or any people, in some cases).
Geek: someone who does nerdy things but CAN relate to other people.
Dork: Someone who doesn't do nerdy things, but has trouble relating to other people.

An alternate definition I've heard is:
Nerd: someone who does nerdy things and doesn't go to parties.
Geek: someone who does nerdy things but DOES go to parties.
Dork: Someone who DOESN't do nerdy things, DOES go to parties, but someone gives them a wedgie.

Thus, I consider myself a geek because I do nerdy things but am still pretty outgoing. In fact, people are usually surprised when they find out how shockingly geeky I am! But my boyfriend contends the opposite argument. He's EXTREMELY nerdy (a computer science major who can literally think in code), yet he's very personable. So I call him a geek but he insists he's a nerd.

So what do you guys think?

The first poem it created was this little gem, which - except for a few weird phrases - actually struck me as a pretty good poem!

Okay, so, I'm going to try to learn Dreamweaver this summer to make a personal website that also features my side projects - one of which will also appear here on deviantART very soon! Does anyone have some good advice about how to get started? I guess the obvious way is to tinker with it the same way I learned Photoshop, but I need a decent website running within a few months. Is there a certain good book out there, or a website that has good tutorials or something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Wow, it's been a while! Between being in Denmark for 4 months, coming home, moving to Kansas City and starting my internship, I feel like I've been MIA for far too long. But since my last journal, I have gone from not being "in Kansas anymore" to actually being in Kansas! Thus the picture of Dorothy! ^__^

But despite all the changes, things are going really well. When I got home from Denmark, I had a wonderful reunion with my family, boyfriend, and friends. As much as I loved Europe, I really missed this country and everything in it! Mmmm... American food....

I spent a nice two weeks at home, then made the 8 and a half hour hour trek to Kansas City 3 weeks ago. My boyfriend (who had started his internship a week before my arrival) and I moved into our little apartment. It's really all we need though, and we've actually gotten it to feel pretty homey, despite the fact that our side of town is basically a ghost town... And my summer internship is going fine - it's at a small software company in Overland Park, Kansas (I cross the MO/KS border to go to work, lol). It's more sales-oriented and low-paying than I would have liked, but I'm still gaining good experience and getting by. I really like the people though - we play frisbee every day during lunch (even in the 95 degree heat... oy), and I joined the company beach volleyball team - the Dainty Wrists!

Anyway, I hope you all are doing well! I have more time on my hands now, so I renewed my sub and I'll definitely be more involved here. AND I have some art in the works, both Sonic-related as well as something completely new from me!

As you could probably guess, Denmark has been keeping me extremely busy! I have been working for 3 straight days on an advertising portfolio project that is due tomorrow 9_9, but I just finished it and I think it's really good! So I decided to take a victory break and write about the CRAZY TRAIN of events that has happened to me in the the last few months! Boy, has it been a wild ride!

Not long after I last updated my journal, I had weekend trips to Stockholm and London (where met my awesome friend ~TheAmbassador! Wooo!). The next week, my 3-week-long spring break started! I traveled to Prague (beautiful and CHEAP!) and Berlin (creepy and depressing! lol) with my business program for three days each. When that was over, the plan was to meet a friend of mine in Paris the next day, but the night before I left, I got a facebook message from her that she wouldn't be able to make it! So not only did I end up going to Paris alone, I also missed my flight the next day and spent a good 8 hours in the damn Schoenefeld airport before the next flight.

But it all worked out - Paris was AMAZING and I fulfilled my life-long dream of going to the top of the Eiffel Tower! I also met Mona and Venus at the Louvre! A few days after that, my Mommy flew out to Copenhagen, and we then flew to Italy to spend 10 days in Florence and several picturesque Tuscan hill towns. It was an amazing trip - Tuscany is just as beautiful as they say it is - and I loved spending time with my Mom again!

But here's where the crazy train REALLY starts. The FIRST NIGHT in Florence, I get an email from the company I was planning to intern with this summer... the offer had been rescinded due to the bad economy D:. I was devastated, as I had worked SO hard to land that internship, partly so I wouldn't have to worry about it while abroad. I had even started to plan for working full-time for that company after graduating next year. Goes to show that you can't count your chickens before they hatch...

ON TOP OF THAT, I get an email a few weeks later that someone else will be the president of the marketing club I had been involved in at school for 3 years. As the most senior member on the exec board, I had planned on being president next year. But in the few months I had been in Denmark, the club had made many changes and decided to go in a "new direction".... without me. So just like that, two of my major near-future plans got upended. It was really hard to deal with, especially since I'm away from home.

But despite the setbacks, so many changes have happened that are actually better than how they would have been! First of all, though it was a tough decision... I decided to move to Kansas City this summer, where my boyfriend will be doing his internship! <3 I'm still looking for an internship there (although I already have one offer!), but I know in my heart it was the right choice. He means so much to me, and despite being apart for 4 months, we're actually doing better than ever! And GOOD GRACIOUS I can't wait to see him again!!!

So not only did we find an apartment for me in Kansas City this summer, the boyfriend reversed his longtime stance that we shouldn't live together and decided that he always wants me with him. I was shocked at this change! He was brought up in a really conservative Christian sect, so he never wanted to live together before because his parents would think we were living in sin! But now, he, our great mutual friend Joe and I will be living together in a triple apartment off campus. Thanks to this arrangement, his parents actually supported the idea (mine were totally fine with it, haha!)! Also, the apartment the guys found will cost me less than half than the on-campus apartment I was planning on living in before!

And finally, even though I lost out on being president of the marketing club next year, the faculty advisor offered me an alternative position in the marketing department working with the undergraduate committee. It will probably end up being a great leadership role for me.

So overall, I'm super excited about everything that has been happening, and this summer and my senior year are going to be amazing. All I have left are fun marketing classes and a lot of room for awesome stuff like History of Rock n' Roll and scuba certification! And this fall semester, none of my classes start before 2:30pm!!! And being here in Europe this semester, I've learned that you have to get out and do things while you're young. So I'm definitely going to live up my last year in college and enjoy everything my university and college town have to offer.

I've been meaning to post a journal here about my experience so far for a while now, so here it is, in the smallest nutshell I could manage! ^_^

I've been here in Denmark over 5 weeks now, and it's going really well! Sometimes I get kind of lonely because it's hard to be so far away from everything familiar. I miss my parents, my university, my boyfriend most of all (who sent me flowers on V-day!!!), and even my country! As another developed nation, Denmark isn't drastically different than the US, but I'm definitely not in Kansas anymore! The differences are in the details - for example, there are very few commercials on TV and virtually none during kids' shows, waiters don't bring the check to you at restaurants, and peanut butter is extremely hard to find. They just don't like it here!

My host family is awesome. The house is nice and cozy and since they have wireless, I've been able to use facebook and Skype to stay in touch, otherwise I would have gone crazy!!! There are the two parents, Anette and Torben, who are fluent in English and very kind to me, and their two kids - Cecilie age 10 and Jonas age 8. Cecilie is just learning English and can speak to me pretty well, while Jonas doesn't know much. Sometimes it's hard because I just want to be able to talk to them! But we have fun anyway. They have a Wii, so we have been playing a TON of Mario Kart!

The only drawback about where I live is that my commute to school takes a full hour... Back at home, I would roll out of bed 10 minutes before class - 5 minutes to get ready and 5 to walk to the business school. But here, I ride a bike 10 minutes to the train station, sit on a train for half an hour, and then walk 10 minutes to class. The good thing about this though is that I'm getting in better shape! Between the increased exercise, Anette's very healthy cooking, and a new regimen of ab exercises, I'm looking and feeling better than ever!

My classes are all business classes - European business strategy, international advertising, international marketing, creative industries, and leadership across cultures. They're much easier than my classes back home, which is really nice, but they're also interesting for the most part. We also have a lot of field trips. Last week, my marketing class went to a microbrewery, where we tried 5 kinds of beer, and this weekend, I'm going to a concert, followed by some clubbing, with my creative industries class!

The Danes are more reserved and modest than Americans, but also extremely friendly. Virtually everyone between the ages of 12 and 60 speaks fluent English, which is great because Danish is a crazy difficult language to learn! There are all these weird vowel sounds, and half the consonants in words aren't even pronounced! But so far, I really love a lot of aspects about Denmark, as I knew I would. It is the epitome of a welfare state, which is a really negative term in the US, but the system here works really well. People pay 60 to 70% taxes here (insane, I know), but they get free healthcare, education, pension, childcare, and a wealth of other services, like an awesome public transportation system and shorter workweeks. Torben once told me that he's never had to worry about money because everyone here is entitled to a comfortable life. Also, 20% of the country's power comes from wind, and society as a whole is a lot more environmentally-conscious. I wish Danish consultants would go to America and help us make some changes! America could never be just like Denmark, but I think we could fix a lot of problems if we emulated them a bit.

Let's see, I'm also going to do quite a bit of traveling while I'm here! Next weekend I'm going to Stockholm with some friends, and then the next weekend I'm going to London. I am very excited to announce that I'm going to meet my awesome dA friend of 3+ years, ~TheAmbassador!!! How cool is that?! We had tried to meet last year when I had a layover in London on the way to India, but it didn't work out. So I can't wait to meet him!!!

Well, that's about it! Denmark's great! I'm trying to get some art done, but it's slow going. I hope you all are doing well!!!

I'M DONE!!!!!!!!

My very stressful semester officially ended last Thursday with the presentation of my team's huge business plan project. So I'll be drawing, writing and playing video games while everyone else on campus has two weeks of finals left!

To top off the completion of my semester, I landed a summer marketing internship in Chicago! I've been so nervous since my second round interview with the company a few weeks ago that when I got the call on Friday, I burst into tears! I'm really lucky to have that locked down now because....

I'm studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark this spring! I'll be living with a Danish family and taking cool classes (all in English) that count toward my majors. I'm a bit nervous to be away for 4 months, but I'm really excited because I've never really been to Europe before. I know it's gonna be awesome, and that I probably won't want to come back! ^^

So, things are really good for me right now... which means that it's all downhill from here, haha. Oh well, c'est la vie!

My family and I are off to celebrate it with some friends, and tomorrow, we'll celebrate the true meaning of the American holiday spirit: BLACK FRIDAY SALES CARNAGE!!!!!!

In other news, I have just four more days left in my semester! My business program's classes ended way early, so now all I have left is a gigantic team project due on December 4th. We'll have to see how many hours of sleep I'll get... 9_9

But the great news is that after I'm done with that, I have a full 6 weeks of break! I've been in a really artsy mood, so you can expect a lot of new art from me!

, your request is first on the list! Thank you for being so patient. I've been so busy, and for a long time I literally could not draw Sally.... every time I sketched her it looked horrible - no joke! But thanks to all the doodle time I had in my unspeakably boring classes, I got my groove back!

AND.... last night, I started a new fanfiction... I have no clue when it will get done, but I think it will be worth the wait.

I just got back from seeing Wall-E.... I knew it was going to be amazing - well duh, every Pixar movie is amazing. But... But I... I'm stunned! It was an incredible film!

Interestingly, there's very little dialogue - mostly really cute robots making cute robot sounds - and Pixar tried a few new things, like incorporating a little live action footage. But as all the past films, it has an ingeniously clever and genuinely warm plot. I was entertained every single second.

You'll feel such compassion for the characters that, like me, you might just cry a bit at the end... I couldn't help it, okay?! It was just such a darn cute movie!

And I think it could be in the running for Best Picture of the Year.

And I really want a Wall-E or EVE toy now. ^_^

Yay random updates!

My new laptop arrived on Thursday! It's a 13.3" Toshiba U405 - the one I've been eying for months. On Memorial Day they had an amazing sale so I got a great deal on it and nice specs. So this weekend I've been upgrading it, installing stuff, etc. To save myself money in the long run, I also got the 3 year, everything-covered service pack, because I KNOW that I'll eventually drop it or spill something on it. One more paycheck and I'll have enough to pay back BillPay! XD

On Saturday I got a letter from the county summoning me for jury duty. "Bad news..." my mom said as she handed me the letter. When I saw it, I started laughing. "What are you so excited about?" she asked. "Jury duty sucks!" I replied that jury duty is kind of a rite of passage. It will be interesting to go through the process for the first time, but I nonetheless hope I won't get chosen as a juror!

As for my dog, Lindy, she gave us quite a scare this weekend. She's 13 years old, and Friday night she started having convulsions and generally going haywire. My parents rushed her to an emergency vet hospital, and the prognosis was that she had an episode of "old dog syndrome," which is basically a stroke. Things looked really bad... But since Friday she's gotten a lot better and just came home a little while ago! There are some lingering effects - she's very unbalanced, tends to walk in circles and holds her head at a tilt. Even though she'll recover in a week or two, it hit my family and I pretty hard that we're going to lose her sooner rather than later, and that will be a very, very hard time for us. But at least she made it through this time.

As hinted, I have decided to hold another contest YAY!!! Unlike the ÂUnofficial SatAM Soundtrack Contest,Â IÂm not going to participate in this one!

So this one is all you guys, and hopefully my idea for this new contest will be really fun! I give you...

The ÂANTHRO MY BOYFRIENDÂ Contest!!!

Introduction
Have you ever looked at someone and wondered, "What animal do they look like?" I have known people who have looked like turtles, wolverines, and even llamas - no joke! Well, lately I've been looking at my boyfriend and pondering, "What animal would he be?..." On that note, some of you may be familiar with my Sonic fancharacter/fursona Kya, who is basically the translation of me into anthro form. But unlike me, poor Kya is missing something: a boyfriend! So, with his reluctant permission (lol), this contest's challenge is to translate my boyfriend into a match for Kya!

***Please read though the following information if you're interested, and reply with a comment if you plan to participate!!!***

Rules
Â DonÂt draw anything that my boyfriend or I would be embarrassed to look at, especially since he isn't really part of the fandom and is skeptical about ÂfurriesÂ in the fetish connotation.

Â You can enter as many times as you want.
Â Since I will probably draw the winning design in the future, all entrants must be willing to share part of their ownership with me and Kya.

Â You can draw Kya with your design, but you donÂt have to. But I donÂt recommend drawing him with any other characters, especially female ones (Kya is the jealous type XD).

Thank you all for your well wishes and kind support as I underwent my first surgery! I'm finally almost back to normal after my tonsillectomy on May 2nd. Unfortunately though, I had quite a scare 5 days afterwards when I suffered some very rare complications. We're talking like 3% here, so I'm pretty unlucky!

I'll try to tell this story as non-graphically as possible... but basically, all of a sudden around 8pm, my mouth filled with blood. I ran into the room where my Dad was, screaming, "I'm bleeding!!! I have to go to the hospital!!!" At first he was like, "Oh, it's alright." But my parents got the idea when they saw the blood I was spewing into the kitchen sink, and frantically rushed me to emergency. Thankfully, by the time we got there, the bleeding had slowed down. But for a little while, I really thought I was going to bleed to death.

The hospital took me to a room with a big chair like a dentist's. I felt horribly faint at one point (I had lost a decent amount of blood), then very nauseous and... got sick, which was very unpleasant. The doctor, who was an associate of the one who had done my surgery, gave me pain medicine through the IV that made me freezing and shivery. Then the topical pain medicine he put on the back of my throat ironically burned and made me choke before it dulled any pain. THEN as he re-cauterized the spot that had bled, I was choking and gurgling and screaming because I couldn't breathe. I felt like I was being waterboarded. The ordeal was eventually over, but that was pretty much the worst and scariest day of my life. I spent the night in the hospital and came home the next morning.

Since then, I've been recovering fine. For the first time, I didn't really feel the need to take my pain medicine last night (I took a little anyway XD), and today, I could actually EAT a whole meal! Until now, swallowing has been too painful for me too eat much of anything. I've actually lost about 8 pounds since my surgery! But now I think I'm finally making progress toward recovery. I missed being able to eat real food!

In other news, my boyfriend moved into his apartment in a nearby suburb for his summer internship, so I got to see him on Friday for the first time since school got out last week ^_^. I'll be starting my marketing internship on Wednesday, if I'm up to it, which I'm really excited about. AND.... I'm thinking of holding a new contest soon. A free 3-month subscription will probably be involved, so stay tuned!

Lol that's right - I had my tonsils removed yesterday morning! It's really not a big deal, but I thought it was at least journal-worthy. Anyone else out there tonsil-free?

Tonsillectomies are one of the simplest and safest surgeries out there and only take about a half hour. But nonetheless I was a little nervous - I've never had a surgery or been under anesthesia before, and I was especially worried about recovery since it's tougher for adults than kids. But the hospital was really comfortable, as opposed to being - you know - "hospital-y," and all the doctors and nurses were really nice. In the operating room, we were just chatting about college and stuff, and then the anesthesia came through my IV - my throat suddenly felt numb and things started getting blurry... and that's all I can remember cause I was out!

When I woke up, I couldn't really focus my eyes but was pleasantly surprised to be able to talk, which I wasn't expecting. And nothing hurt at all since I was still under some powerful painkillers. Later though, I got really nauseated and miserable when the meds were wearing off, but I got some more nausea and pain medications and then was much better. I snoozed and chatted with my mom that afternoon (she was with me all day) and went back home in the evening.

Since then, I've been doing fine. My voice is worse today though since I talked to my boyfriend on the phone for two hours last night. Overall though, I'm recovering pretty fast. And since I'll have some down time I'm planning on working on some art! ^_^ But right now, I don't know what's grosser - how my throat feels or how it looks, because there's a giant disgusting scab where my tonsils used to be...

Anyway, at Borders I looked at a book called "Top 100 Simplified Tips and Tricks" for Photoshop CS3, and I was AMAZED at how much I DON'T know. What the hell is a mask?! How have I never found the Gradient Editor? When I looked at the titles of many of the exercises the book explained, I thought to myself, "Yeah, I could do that." But as I scanned through the instructions, I had never even heard of many of the tools mentioned. My way may have sufficed, but I'm sure the methods of the book would have been much more professional.

From time to time when I see other people's amazing artwork here on the dA, I am so humbled about my own work. I know I'm a pretty good artist with pretty good skills, but I realize there are so many people that are so, SOOO much better than I am. Sometimes it's a little depressing, because I know that I don't have the dedication to get as good as they are - but usually, it encourages me to improve my skills and keep learning.

Which brings me back to my journal's title - if you do digital art, how did you learn? Did you teach yourself kind of like I did? Did you take some classes? Did you study a related subject in college? I just am curious how people can know so much about Photoshop - or any art program - to be able to write a whole guidebook.

In conclusion, if you are a master of digital art, I have so much admiration for you. If you're still learning, keep at it! And if you're a traditional artist and are offended that my journal focuses on digital art, then this will reassure you - how much digital art do you see in museums?

(Btw, I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy the aforementioned book.)

I know there are a lot of Brawl journals out there already... but I simply couldn't contain my joy...

EEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

I got to play Brawl for the first time just a few days ago! My boyfriend had custody of our "love Wii" for spring break (I had it all of Christmas), but he visited me Thursday and Friday and brought it over. He had been playing Brawl since it came out, but he hadn't unlocked Sonic yet. Mind you, when I first heard that Sonic was confirmed in Brawl back in October, I literally screamed!

So, I had happened to beat the bf in a match, and suddenly a new challenger appeared! It was Sonic and... I screamed. So I had to play against him and... he creamed me! My bf's way better than me at Brawl, and it even took him several tries to beat the little mofo! But we finally did... somehow Sonic blew himself up XD.

I was really happy - I thought that Nintendo would make him a weak character as a cruel joke lol. But he's pretty good! I mean, pretty much all his moves are spin attacks lol... but he's SO FAST!!! And omg his taunts crack me up!

I'm not too good at playing him yet, but I've sworn a solemn vow that I would practice until I can kick anyone's butt as my favorite blue Hedgehog.... :3

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

Hi, everybody!

I hope you all are doing well and yes, I am alive! I can't believe I haven't posted a pic since late June and a journal since August! But dang, this semester has been so busy!

I check up on dA pretty much every day though, so I'm definitely still here!

Just in case anyone lives under a rock and my journal is their sole source of information (o_O), SONIC'S GONNA BE IN BRAWL!!!!!!!!

My boyfriend and his friends are all nerds and devoutly follow videogame news, so when they told me at lunch that day, I literally screamed! Got some weird looks in the dining hall...

Okay, I played Sonic Next Gen on Xbox360 and I admit... overall I enjoyed playing it. But Sonic games over the years, with a few exceptions, have been losing their edge and have just strayed too far from what made Sonic cool back in the early 90s. I guess that's one of the many reasons Sega went under and is just a third party publisher now.

I checked out the video of Sonic in Brawl right after lunch that day (watch it NOW!!! [link]), and aside from hyperventilating like a rabid fangirl the whole time, I noticed that Nintendo has ironically made Mario's archrival totally kickass!!! They've created a version of Sonic that's the best of both worlds - his cool next-gen look with a totally retro style... and the result is insanely glorious!!! Spinball moves, old-school sound effects, the same goofy face when he's tetering on an edge, and that spunky finger shake!

So that begs the question... How on EARTH does Nintendo, know Sonic better than Sega does?.... Oh yeah - NintenDON'T make sucky games!!!

In other news:
I'm really really, really, ridiculously close to completing the SatAM Soundtrack Contest! Your agonizing wait is almost over!!! So get hyped!!!!!

I need some advice on one thing though: should I include a list of runner-ups, as in people who were really close to making it into the soundtrack, or would you hypothetically prefer not to know that you almost won?

Hey everybody!

I feel like I've been pretty disconnected from DA recently, and that's probably because I have been. So I thought I'd update my journal and check in on everybody. So, how's everyone's summer going?

Today, I just had my last day working as a sales associate at a department store. I worked pretty hard, but the job was also pretty boring most the time. It made the summer seem to pass so slowly. Between working 35 hours a week and taking a summer class, I was pretty busy too. But I'm done! And we're going on vacation in Michigan all week starting Saturday. Hopefully I'll get to do some surfing in the lake. Then a few days after that I move back to school. I have a double single room this year, so it's going to be great having a big room all to myself.

I think this school year, despite taking five honors business classes this semester, will actually be more relaxing than this summer has been! I can't wait to get back to school. It's weird living back at home after being at college. But luckily, my boyfriend has been living here all summer. He's from a small town, and since he really needed to take a summer class and get a decent job, he needed to be here in the big city. Living together has been interesting and sometimes challenging for us. Mostly it's been really fun having him here, though we've had our ups and downs....

Lol, we bought a "love Wii" together a few weeks ago! Omg, Twilight Princess is so awesome..... It's sad how it made me realize how much the Sonic 360 game sucks... and besides... Link is so much more of a hero. He's..... epic. I really feel like doing some Link fanart (he's so cute!!!

), but I thought I'd do a "Link as a Hedgehog" pic first to transition from Sonic art to Link art, thus the poll.

I dunno - I really miss drawing. I've been craving creating art. I love spending hours at a time working on a pic in Photoshop. I doodled all the time at work. Mostly Sonic and Sally, and lately Link. I still like Sonic and all, but I'm starting to find a lot of aspects about the fandom very childish ("say it ain't so!!!"). My Sonic plush has spent all summer face down on the floor... So yeah, my interest in da hedgehog is fading a bit. I'm also frustrated that I have so many great ideas for pics, but I don't have enough time - or rather - enough time to myself, to finish them or even start them.

I was thinking about posting some doodles, but they're not all that great. I'd love to finish some pics I've had around for a while - like that Sally pic I posted a long time ago, and ironically, a pic of Elise from Next Gen. I also want to finish a SatAM fic I had meant to have done in December!

Oh yeah, and there's the SatAM soundtrack contest. I promise that I'll finish it! I really want to get it done. I've already chosen winners in certain categories, but I still have soooo many entries to go though...... and it's rare that in my rare spare time I'm like, "Hey, I feel like downloading a ton of songs!" But so far, I think you guys are really going to like the final soundtrack.

Wow, I haven't been on DA for several days, and I had a couple hundred messages and devations! O_O I'm sorry I haven't been around very much, but a lot have things have changed recently - beautiful, glorious, amazing changes...

First of all, I quit the sorority! I've been so neutral about joining all along, and it was driving me crazy to be so indefinite. It suddenly hit me a few weeks ago that I really didn't like it that much. I was so relieved to finally make up my mind. I have absolutely no regrets because for once, I'm following my heart instead of my head, and it feels amazing!

Second.....*drumroll*....... I have a boyfriend! It would take far too many words to convey how amazing he is, or incredibly happy I am... but I'm just going to say that he is the best thing that has ever happened to me... and I never knew someone could love me so much...

Now here's the bad news as far as DA goes... Needless to say, my priorities have majorly shifted. This is NOT one of those emo "I'm leaving DA forever!!!!" journals, because I'm pretty sure I'll still be around a bit, but not nearly as much. My art output has definitely slowed down. I just don't have the time or the drive anymore, which sucks because I'm in the middle of 3 projects (Sally pic, SatAM fic, and a surprise pic). I really want to finish them though, and I have so many other great ideas for pics! However, I WILL try my best to complete the SatAM Soundtrack project as scheduled.

So yeah, I just felt the need to explain why I've been around only sporadically. But I'm not going to be gone forever or anything, because I like you guys too much! Wow... I have so many friends here, and there are just so many great people! You guys have really meant a lot to me, and I sincerely mean that!

) But my professor let me make it up, so I ended up getting a B-, which is a helluva lot better than a ZERO, considering that essay is 5% of my final grade!

Hey guys!

First of all, I really want to thank everyone who responded to my last journal. I got so much more advice, support, and love than I ever could have expected, and it really helped me get through a low point.

So, thanks a lot guys, and that includes everyone else here on the DA who has supported me and has offered me friendship. You guys are awesome!

But, since my last journal was such a downer

lol, I thought I'd change the pace and share with you one of the funniest things on the interent I've ever seen!

It's stillshots from a bootleg copy of "Revenge of the Sith" with subtitles of the Chinese interpretation of the script translated back into English!!! The result is "STAR WARS: The Backstroke of the West!" [link]

So take a sec and check it out! The pics might take a while to load, and you gotta scroll down a bit, but it's so worth it! And the little comments are hilarious too!!! OMG I laughed so hard!!!!!

Speaking of other funny things, anyone ever seen 'Clone High?' It was this show that was on back in 2001 about the clones of Lincoln, Joan of Arc, Gandhi, Cleopatra, JFK, and other famous people - in high school! I've been watching the first season on DVD, and it's amazing, but the sad thing is that there was only one season!

.... WHY ARE THE BEST SHOWS ALWAYS CANCELLED!??!?!?!?

I'm not one for writing long, personal journals like this, but a lot has been going through my head lately, and some of it has to do with DA, so I have finally decided to go ahead and post this. The question is, where do I start?...

My senior year of high school didnt treat me too well, at least compared to the amazing years that had preceded it. Half my friends are a year older than me, so they all went off to college. The other half of my friends all coupled off or splintered away, leaving me without a paddle. To make matters worse, my grandmother, who had lived with my parents and me for 4 years, died on November 1st of 2005. This devastating and traumatic loss further alienated me from my friends, who couldnt relate to what I was going through. So, this former social butterfly became a jaded, apathetic, and resentful girl who withdrew from socializing and turned more and more to her computer for solace.

About this time, a friend of mine got me hooked on downloading the theme songs from old-school shows I used to watch as a kid. Doug, Animaniacs, Captain Planet, Alex Mack, Salute Your Shorts all these awesome, awesome shows! Listening to them and remembering my childhood made me really happy. Then, somehow, I remembered that Saturday morning Sonic the Hedgehog show that I absolutely loved when I was about 8 years old. So I downloaded The Fastest Thing Alive and freaked out at how amazing that song is!!! It wasnt long before it had the highest play count in my iTunes by about a hundred! I absolutely had to see that show again, so I bought a bootleg copy of both seasons on eBay. I fell in love with SatAM all over again. This was only the beginning of my re-immersion into the world of Sonic, after about a 10 year hiatus.

So here I am now, half-way through my freshmen year of college. I recently realized that almost all of my hobbies revolve around Sonic: creating Sonic fanart, watching Sonic shows, playing Sonic videogames, listening to Sonic music, writing and reading Sonic fanfiction, doing Sonic roleplays, collecting and reading Sonic comics, and talking to other Sonic fans. A lot of these activities revolve around DA, and I honestly believe that Ive developed an addiction to the website obsessively checking messages, pageviews, and deviations.

Now, as much as I love Sonic and his universe, I have known for a while that someday I would either suddenly lose interest or be forced to move on. It actually surprises me that Ive been in this phase for over a year now. But I truly believe that Sonic was my outlet during a difficult and disappointing time in my life, and in that sense, he has been very important to me. It makes me happy, and how can I argue with that?

College so far has been good, but not as great as my expectations. I had hoped that moving on from high school would mean an incredible start to a new and exciting chapter of my life. But no - Im still the same geeky girl who would rather play videogames or work on a drawing than go out and party with friends. Of course I realize that not everyone is the partying type in college, nor has to be, but I know for a fact that I havent been living up my college years. I dont want these years to pass me by, because for a very limited opportunity in my life, I have tons of freedom but few responsibilities.

That being said, I decided to pursue joining a sorority. What better way to kick-start my social life than by suddenly gaining over 100 sisters and becoming a part of the highly active Greek community? For me, I think its a great way to live up my college years like I want to. So I came back to school from winter break 5 days early to go through the exhausting sorority recruitment process, which I now believe is designed to make you paranoid and destroy your self esteem. These two weeks have been really hard for me. I never thought Id be one to cry over this stupid sorority stuff, but there was one night that I cried hysterically for about three hours, and could barely recognize myself in the mirror the next day because my eyes were so swollen.

To make a long story short, I ended up in an awesome sorority that I think fits me the best. The girls are cool, diverse, and accepting, and really want me to be a part of their sisterhood. If I decide to follow through and pledge in April, for the next three years I would live in a house with about 100 girls, and Id have to share a room with 3 other girls. I think I could be really happy there, but its a huge and somewhat intimidating change of lifestyle.

It doesnt help that Ive been facing this huge ordeal of a decision in the middle of an identity crisis. Over winter break it finally hit me that Im not at all who I want to be and Im a bit scared of who Ive become. Ive completely lost my sense of self. The Hogfather...

Howdy, y'all!

It seems as if all the cool kids are posting holiday-related journals, so I figured I'd do the same... being a cool kid and all...of course....

It's been a rather lazy and RAINY winter break for me. But my finals and semester grades turned out great so I deserve it! XD I've mostly just been staying up till 3 AM playing videogames, drawing, or writing, then sleeping in till noon or later. Ahhh..... the quintessence of adolescence!

Christmas morning treated me well. Highlights: a videocard thing for my computer that I can use to record TV shows like a TiVo, two pairs of cute boots, a new winter coat, and some cool clothes. And I bought myself the Sonic 15th Anniversary figurine on eBay, which = me squealing like a rabid fangirl. ^___^

Hahahaha funny story!!! I ordered a bunch of presents for my family on Amazon.com, but forgot to change my college address back to my home address, so I ended up sending everything to my dorm.... let's just say I figuratively smacked myself silly. And since it's winter break, campus mail is shut down, so I can't get the packages until I go back. Oh well, if anything I'm stretching out the holiday season, right?

After months of unbearable anticipation, and nearly a year since this contest began, the results for the Unofficial SatAM Soundtrack are finally in!!!!!

First, IÂd like to thank all of you who entered or supported this contest. I wanted to create a fun project that would be for the SatAM fans, by the SatAM fans. I really had no idea that so many people would so enthusiastically participate. So, thank you so much for joining me on this endeavor.

Next, congratulations to all the winners! I was looking for songs that have both lyrics AND a sound that fit SatAM, and you guys really hit the mark. Some of these songs seem like they were *written* for SatAM! We definitely ended up with an awesome soundtrack!

If you're disappointed that none of your songs made the soundtrack, don't feel too bad. With a grand total of 273 entries, the competition was tough. I do feel bad though that... um.... five..... of my own songs made it onto the final soundtrack... But you gotta remember, I started this contest with a very clear idea of the result I wanted, so my own suggestions already had an advantage. But like I promised, I chose a runner-up for every song of mine that won so more people could win prizes.

PRIZES:

Deciding on prizes for this contest was tricky. Subscriptions and requests werenÂt feasible since there are too many winners. Besides, entering this contest didnÂt require as much effort as the typical art or music contests. So hereÂs what the actual prizes will be:

* Winners and Runners-up: A three-deviation feature by me in an upcoming journal!

This song isnÂt so much a Âsong,Â but a dark and atmospheric soundscape. In the words of the submitter, ÂThis is more suited towards RobotnikÂs city...a really disgusting ambient that wreaks of dystopia. This song...IS Robotropolis.Â I totally agree. It just sounds like the churning, rumbling, polluting factories and the desolate wasteland the city has become. So I thought this was a good choice for beginning the soundtrack.

This song was a perfect introduction to the soundtrack. The songÂs intense and heavy sound fits SatAMÂs dark quality. Also, it seems to set up the premise of the show Â a desperate crisis in which a hero is needed to save the day. To me, the line Âthey're locking up the sunÂ sounds like how Robotnik attempted to destroy all hope and joy on the planet. And somehow, the percussion rhythm and minor chord structure reminded me of ÂFastest Thing Alive.Â

I call myself a Sonic fan, yet I have barely played any of the old school games... so shameful....

My parents didn't really let me have video games till I was about 13 (so deprived!), so the only time I really played any old school Sonic game was at my orthodontist's office! LOL seriously! They had some kind of Genesis based arcade dealie that shuffled about 6 different games. But the the problem was... it would time out after 3 minutes, so the farthest I could ever get was the first level of the second zone! GAH! >.<

UNTIL NOW!!!!!

A friend of mine brought back his Sega Genesis from home this weekend, so we just played Sonic 2 for about an hour! .... OMFG IT'S THE COOLEST FREAKING THING EVER!!!!!!!1

*Sigh* .....There's just something about Sonic's impatient little look if you don't do anything for a few seconds, and how goofy he looks when he's about to fall off an edge, and how Tails is basically his bitch in the 2-player mode! LOL!!!

It took me friggin' FOREVER to beat the Chemical Plant zone, which is only the 2nd one... because I suck at video games....

... Anyway! Poor Sonic ended up drowning many, many times, which always broke my heart!!!

I was like "OMG I'M KILLING MY HERO!!!!" But finally I focused and beat it! Yay!!! ^___^

Man... Sonic 2 is just so freaking cool... There were a few times that Sonic would be going so fast that the console couldn't handle it!

Isn't that always the truth about Sonic? Ahh... I love it!

Just goes to show there's no school like old school!

... Though - I will be playing Next Gen on Xbox360 in a week and a half... can't say I'm not psyched!

I realized that I haven't posted a journal for a while. I have a really cool one coming up (a contest perhaps....? XD) but in the meantime I thought I'd just let'ch'all know what's going on with the big Kahuna! ^_^

I'm taking an accounting class the 2nd eight weeks of this semester, and I thought it started next week, but it already started this week! I missed the first two classes! I'm such an IDIOT!!!

Halloween is a huge thing in college! Some friends and I were going to do a group costume thing, like the Spice Girls (SPICE GIRLS 4EVA!!!!

YOU KNOW IT!!! XD), but it didn't work out, so I'm just using my Lara Croft costume from 2 years ago... (see pic above) hehehehe :3

I went to my first ever college party last night! WOOOO!!!! I'm pretty proud because I'm not really a party girl, but it was... interesting! I've never seen a house so crowded before! @_@ Luckily my group and I left the place before the police busted it!!!

My school's football team won our Homecoming game today!

Like 51-17!!! It was awesome! You have no idea how amazing that is, because IU football is usually pretty bad! XD GO HOOSIERS!!!!!!!!

My roomate and I have been having some issues, nothing too bad I guess, but I've realized that it's so much more fun when she's gone for the weekend and I have the place to myself. So I've decided to get a single room next semester, even though I'll probably have to move to a different dorm.

In April 1990, Sega needed a new videogame that could sell over one million copies and a character to replace the severely uncool Alex Kidd as the company's mascot. Obviously, Naoto Ohshima's spiky blue hedgehog with a 'tude was chosen as the new mascot!

But several other character designs were submitted by its research & development department, including an armadillo who later became Mighty the Armadillo, a rabbit with extendable ears that eventually became Ristar, AND...... an over-sized Theodore Roosevelt in pajamas, who became none other than Sonic's arch-nemisis, Doctor Ivo Robotnik!!!!

So I was looking through screenshots of the upcoming Sonic Next Generation game (which I am SO EXCITED about!!!

), and when I saw this pic of the new, more realistic version of Dr. Eggman, I was like "That looks familiar......" Then I found this pic of Theodore Roosevelt (coolest president EVER!) and cracked up at the EERIE resemblance!!!!!!

So yeah, just goes to show how some things come full circle!!!

1. Whenever I'm checking email or getting on the DA to see my messages, I always grin in anticipation

.... as if smiling at my computer screen would bring me more messages!

2. You know how some people can cup their hands and do bird calls? Well, I can play melodies! Yes, I'm a very talented hand-whistler! My fave one to play is "Yesterday" by the Beatles!

3. I have the WEIRDEST laughs. The most infamous one is my cackle. Yup. I cackle. So if I ever sound exactly like a witch, you know something is reeeeeaaaallly funny. And sometimes I snort, but usually it's just to keep the laughs going!

4. I'm a face contortionist. As in - for a pretty girl, I can make ugly, UGLY faces!!!

I can't really prove this though, because I will NEVER post pictures! Then again, I guess I can't prove any of the other things..... MOVING ON!!!

5. Nutella is my Kryptonite. Ever heard of Nutella? It's a chocolate-hazelnut spread that has the consistency of peanut butter. And OMG, it's soooooooooooo good. I eat it straight out of the jar, and can go through a 13 oz. jar in about 4 days....*shifty eyes*.... okay 3! I'M AN ADDICT OKAY!!?!??!

6. Okay this one is REALLY weird. I don't do this all the time, but sometimes when I go down stairs I hold my hair.... I think it's because I don't like touching handrails but want to hold something...

Yup - those were the weirdest things about myself that I could think of... which leaves me wondering about the things I couldn't think of.....

Hey all! I havent been too active here lately because Ive been pretty busy at college, but now Im back and with a vengeance!!!

Ive been wanting to found a DA club for a while, but I couldnt think of anything that hadnt been done. Then I was SHOCKED and APPALLED to realize that there isnt a club for ROTOR!!!! I LEAVE FOR COLLEGE IN 5 DAYS!!!!

I'm going to Indiana University, a Big 10 state school with 36,000 students, which sounds bland but is actually really, really cool with a *GORGEOUS* campus! And it's an hour-and-a-half away, which is far enough to be "away" from home but close enough that my mom "can bake brownies and get them to me while they're still warm!"

My roomate and good friend Mary is doing a community service program for a few days before welcome week starts on the 23rd. So today I drove down to IU with her to help her move in and check out our room. Our dorm is the funky, ecclectic, artsy one on the campus, which is why we chose it, but it was built in the 30's, which means it's kinda... jank. There were all these pipes and crap in the room that really limit how we can arrange stuff, which is so frustrating cause we have a ton of stuff! And the desks have these permanent lamps attached to them, which messes with how I arrange my computer... and I have no clue where the minifridge will fit... such bad Feng Shui...

So this evening after stressing a bit about making this dorm into a home, I kinda broke down about about having to leave my real home. I've been so ready to go to college for so long, but now as it's looming closer, I'm getting scared...

I'm gonna miss my room, my parents, the comforts of home, my best friend, my dog...!

I know college is going kick ass, and my schedule and classes rock and I'm going to meet tons of people and have so much fun and probably have the time of my life, but right now... it's hard. It's a big transition.... I need a hug...

ON A LIGHTER NOTE:
My BIRTHDAY is coming up on September 2nd, two weeks from today!!! I'm gonna be 19! 19!!!! I can't believe it!

As I promised a long time ago, here are ALL 26 episodes of SatAM, finally online for fans and future fans alike to enjoy!!!! Tell your friends!

Since I got this new computer with a DVD drive, I could finally rip the SatAM DVDs I had. It took me a while to figure out how to do it, and how to get them into an uploadable format, but 4 days, 3 programs, 2 codecs, 1 plugin and 12 gigabytes later I got it done!!

I would have put them on youtube, but they have a 10 minute time limit there, plus I think yahoo ended up being better quality. Try fullviewing them - they look great!

Sally heads to a castle in the great swamp to follow a lead that suggests her father may be alive.

PHEW I just got done DEEP cleaning out my closet. Finally the dust has settled and I can see my room's floor again. I found some great stuff, including the carcass of the furby I dissected for a science project in 8th grade. I kept the skin because the sadism of it all never ceases to amuse me, and it makes a great hand puppet!!!

Creepy dead toys aside, I speak to you from my brand spankin' new kickass supercomputer!!! I got this baby from ibuypower.com, which makes awesome gaming computers. I'm not a big gamer, except for Sims 2 *lol*, but nonetheless it has

neon blue lights

glowing from the case, so when I go to college (in 4 weeks!) people will think I'm really cool... either that or reall nerdy!

Foreword:
The purpose of this journal is NOT to bash and complain about the DA or its administration. I love the DA!!!!

I'm merely pointing out the idiosyncracies that occur in its wake...with only one exception XD. If anything, this is supposed to be sorta funny in that "You know what really Grinds my Gears?" kind of way! So let the grievances begin!!!

5. Dead Clubs
I hate how like, half the clubs listed in ~Sonic-Clubs-List haven't been updated in over a year. If you're going to start a club, first make sure that the idea of it doesn't suck, so people actually give a crap. Second, if you start a club, don't let 37w 15d 10h pass since the last time you checked it. I mean dang. :

4. Good IDs that are taken but unused
For example, ~crystal and ~shadow. Two IDs that tons of people would LOVE to have, but haven't even been touched in milleniums. Ironically, both are currently

! It's SOOO uncool to take a cool name and not even use it. What a waste of prime retail webspace.

3. Can't Edit comments
I don't really think that the DA should change that, but don't you hate it when you're typing an emoticon in a comment and you mess up, so the whole world thinks you're a total n00b? :slamhed:

2. When people call out the troops...
Man I hate this! So Deviant X gets a comment they don't like from Deviant Y, and instead of dealing with privately, they single that person out in their journal, because obviously Deviant Y doesn't know who they're dealing with! And usually the people who do this are the ones who have hundreds of thousands of pageviews and hundreds of watchers! So not only is the poor n00b publicly humiliated, there's a whole massive army of rabid fans barraging them with nasty comments, notes, and death threats written exclusively in emoticons:

Well I got news for those pansy mofos: in the REAL world, you don't have an army to stick up for you when you whine, so you better....uhh.... enjoy that privilege in the digital world I guess! .... wait....

1. SEARCH DOESN'T WORK!!!!1!!one!
Okay, my numero uno pet peeve is that the DA search is like, a year behind. Do you know how many millions of deviations we are missing, just because we can't find them?!? Besides, I want people to be able to see my art! ;_; However, I have heard that the search feature will be completely revamped in the new version of the DA (5.1 or something), whenever that comes out...

I just watched a couple episodes of TEEN TITANS and felt like sharing my new love of it with the world! Anyone else watch that show? I noticed there was a lot of hype about it (the DA Teen Titans club like 2 million pageviews), so a few weeks ago I finally sat down and watched it. And now I'm hooked!

I'm not a huge anime fan (though I don't dislike it), but this show is so funny because it over-exaggerates those weird anime things like huges mouths and chibis and such. And when something is really weird and I'm like "...Okay.....", one of the characters will go, "...Okay.....", which is always good for a laugh XD

Some of the humor is really goofy (yay!), but some of it is "intelligent" humor - referential kind of stuff. For example, I just watched the 4th of July episode where this evil British guy (with bad teeth of course (sorry to any Brits out there, but over here that never gets old XD)) named Mad Mod tries to reclaim America. There were so many references to Monty Python and Yellow Submarine, I was in heaven! I was so glad to see that shows are still trying to teach kids culture, like the old school days......ahhh.....

And in some ways, Teen Titans reminds me of SatAM, which by now you should know I love ^^. Sure it's a kid's show, but it has some darker themes, along with some great messages about teamwork. Of the five titans (Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Raven, and Beastboy), I've been trying to pick my favorite, and I can't! I like them all because they're all so different and funny in their own ways. Though I love Beastboy, the self proclaimed 'good-looking comic relief guy.'

After some thoughtful research on... Wikipedia, it turns out the show was cancelled in January.... Why are all the good shows cancelled?!?!? Well, it's still on Cartoon Network, and it's worth checkin' out. I mean, I like it! ^^ And I might have to draw Starfire soon...

First, I'd like to thank the bunch of people who have started watching me lately. There is no bigger compliment on the DA, so thank you so much, I really appreciate it.

As the title of this journal suggests, I am suffering from major artist's block here. When the summer was just starting, I had ambitious plans that I would upload a new deviation every single day. I have a word document called 'Sonic' with about 60 ideas for drawings - I want so bad to actually tangibly see them - but I just haven't had the drive to actually draw. Part of the problem is that I'm trying to reinvent my style; the big obstacle there is how to make Sonic and Sally in proportion to each other. GAH! They don't even do it right in the comics, cause it's HARD! The other thing is that I have aspirations of creating art that's really, really good. Like, "Instant WOW" art. So, until I get some things figured out, I'm kinda in fanartist limbo. But hopefully I'll get my groove back soon and WOW you all

In other news, I recently found the Sonic comics I had when I was a kid!!!! In my Sonic renaissance, I started recollecting the Archie comics back in October, and I was trying to find my old comics. For a while when I was a bratty tween I was anti-Sonic and wanted to get rid of them, so I was afraid I had sold them at a garage sale long ago! But I found them! They were right in my closet, and very, very dusty!!! They're mostly in the 20s, but one of 'em is number freakin' 12!!!! The only ones I need now are #6-11 and #78-102, which evidently don't exist... even on eBay GASP!!!

About 2 minutes into the vid, Sonic, Antoine, and some other freedom fighter named Cat are sneaking around Robotropolis through some big pipe. Suddenly a robot opens it up and shines in a search light. All three are cowering against the wall, freaking out and trying to avoid the light. Then, the suspenseful music stops, the robot's panel opens, and Sally appears and says: "Hi guys."
OMG I laughed so hard!!! It's not all that exciting, but this show is just full of gems like that. I just had to share.

7. I got my tax refund recently - yay $47!!

6. I won a really pretty Cheong-sam dress from China on Ebay and it came today. It's for grad dance (the Seniors' version of prom) coming up, and I tried it on and it fits perfectly!

5. Speaking of eBay, I totally just won a Sega Genesis for $6.50! In about a week hopefully I'll win an auction for a lot of all the old Sonic genesis games. It cracks me up that I'm buying a system that's, what, about 13 years old? I used to play Sonic 2 at an arcade at my orthodontist's office... but every 3 minutes it would reset so the farthest I ever got was to the 2nd level lol.

4. We did our senior prank today! About 3 weeks ago someone organized a mass ordering of 2,006 trolls (those weird little doll things with the hair) to hide around the school. Unfortunately, all the stupid underclassmen thought it was some fucking treasure hunt to find all the trolls, but my friends and I had fun yelling at them, and as far as I know the two that I hid haven't been absconded!

3. The Survivor finale was on Sunday! I haven't watched it yet (if anyone tells me who won......

) but I tivoed it and will on watch it on Thursday. Wait - that's a bad thing! The Survivor season is over!

2. Both my parents are on business trips so I have the house to myself for a day!!!! Not that I'm going to throw a party, I just like the solitude.

I play the clarinet in the top band and the top orchestra at my high school. Both groups, and also our top choir, had state competitions today. Basically, its the culminating performance after months of rehearsing, and in the case of seniors like me, 4 years of hard work.

Orchestra performed at 9:20 this morning, and the award ceremony was at 1:45. They announce the prizes by counting down to first place. When it got to the last 2 orchestras, I was a complete wreck, but then they announced the other school's name, meaning that WE WON!!! I was so happy that I burst into tears, and I cried so hard my face went kinda numb! I was so happy!!!

A few hours later it was band's turn. We heard that the choir won their competition (which was a given because they've won the last like 7 years cause they're amazing), so the pressure was on for us to win too.

We got to perform last of all the 16 bands, which is the ideal spot. Our performance went pretty well, but not fantastic. The award ceremony was held in the host school's gym directly after our performance. Again, they counted down... again I was a complete wreck... and again they announced us last!!! All of us in the stands went crazy!!!! For me, it was 2 in one day, and I still am in a daze.

What's absolutely incredible about today is that for the first time in the competition's history, one school swept. all. three. Not in my wildest dreams did I think both orchestra AND band would win. This whole year in band we never really expected to win because a lot of really talented musicians graduated this year, and we have a new band director who had to fill the shoes of a great one. But, wow, WE DID IT!!!!!!

Man, what a great way to end senior year!!!!!!

Pretty much all you're going to see from me is Sonic-related, because that's what I do, plus I love the Sonic-universe community here on DA - all 10 million of us! I was a die hard SatAM fan back in 1993-4. Man, the Doomsday project finale was pretty much the most mind-blowing thing an 8 year old could ask for. Oh, I would like to take this opportunity to say to all the SatAM fans out there that if I ever get really rich one day, I promise to BRING BACK SATAM, or at least make a movie out of it...?

So yeah, after a decade long hiatus from Sonic obsession, I've come back. The story of my reSonicfication (?) is mildly interesting, so perhaps I'll write a later journal entry about it. Let me just say that it started with downloading that kick-ass themesong from SatAM ("he's the fastest thing Aliiii-ee-ive!!!" XD)- which just so happens to have the highest playcount in my iTunes with a hefty 132 plays, which isn't dorky at all. Nope

Nowadays I watch SatAM (yay for bootleg DVDs from eBay!), Sonic X (which is actually pretty decent and definitely good for a laugh), and I collect the Archie comics (yes I am painfully aware that they're pretty sucky at times). And yes, I'm a Sonsal supporter, but don't worry - I don't hate Amy

. Does she remind anyone else of Angelica Pickles or Sakura though?

I'm graduating from HS in about 3 weeks (!!!!!!!!!) so soon I'll have a lot more time to work. And if anyone is curious, I am completely open to art-trades and I'll do requests for you as long as I generally like what you want me to draw...
