Taking the day off work to go. And man do I need to. I am just about over that place at the minute.

Trying to get art printed and ready to go...but it comes out so dark! Still have recieved some tips from other artists! Here's hopinh they work. Officeworks is gonna thhink I'm so strange tomorrow. XD

But still. I get to be a geek all weekend and no one will care!

In the end Soon dragged me to see Nina Conti. Which was not a bad thing, cause she was about the ONLY funny female comedian on the Oxfam Comedy Gala. Ventriloquism is highly underrated. Her show was called "Evolution" and, that being my area of study, I found highly amusing in itself. The talking money was apparently the 'missing link'. XD

If she's ever in your area - go and see her! Even if you just go to the rude monkey.

My desktop has slowly filled up with projects that I have been trying to complete. I finally got one done! woohoo Working full time really does leave you with next to no time for anything else...especially when you get dragged out every weekend. Not that I'm omplaining mind, but sometimes you just need a night in front of your computer making sure your external harddrive hasn't become corrupted.

My computer wouldn't recognise mine yesterday. Then when it did all the anime had been wiped *MAJOR HEART ATTACK* So I plugged it in to my laptop. Stupid bugger was messing with my head. >.<

Meh...look at the date...I feel old.

The Fruits Fashion was incredible. Where they found the time to put together such amazing outfits, I don't know. Cosplay was mad. Never have I seen the entire Organization 13 together (well except for the four who were apparently in Germany...). And the detail on some of the costumes. (Mums around the world should be prayed and bowed down to!)

Decided not to enter the art comp though, as I had to be on a plane before the judging even commenced.

Their very compelling Tornament of WIN! was ... interesting. Cosplay Mystery Date was a laugh and I was bitterly disappointed that I was unable to stay for 'Thank Kami you're here'.

On a sad note; while I was down basking in the moderate weather that was Hobart, my poor home state Victora was suffering through a 46 degree day. And there were many many bushfires. There are at the moment 76 people confirmed dead and over 700 homes obliterated. The town of Marysville where I used to stay when I went skiing as a kid is gone, as is Kinglake and Kinglake West where we take the students from my school on camp. And the fires are still burning their way Northwest-ward tonight. I feel almost guilty for having fun this weekend and not knowing about it until late yesterday.

They're also thinking that at least one of the fires was deliberately lit. D<

Just my luck that it was the week I went back to work. >.<

So it was 30-something on Tues, 44 on Wed, 44 on Thurs, 44 yesterday and today it is supposed to be 38. I haven't had much sleep...at least we get dry heat here though. I doubt I would cope well with humidity.

Still. Off to AI-con next week! I find it funny that my first visit to Tasmania is for an anime convention. XD But if it isn't good I plan on going to the chocolate factory (and possibly the Cascade brewery) instead. Or we might hike, who knows. I'm going to submit 'Original Characters' to their art competition (if they have one).

Pity is that I miss out on Rach's 30th. She's having a Guys and Dolls 1920s theme! *crushed to not be able to go*

Have picked up my writing again. Updated 'Only the Weak' on ff.net. 'Another Time' looks like it's update might not be that far behind. I was reading over some of my past chapters...I never thought I could write particularly well but I was certainly holding my own attention! I was actually really pleased with myself! Ha ha!

Goal for the year: Stay motivated! ...for as long as possible... XD

Well apart from the lovely whinging I do about not having enough time to do anything now that I work full time...I have not done anything terribly exciting. I have, however, learnt to tell myself, that yes I can draw and that I don't need to go seeking recognition for it every second of the day. If I were a psyciatrist I would say I had overcome an important step.

*Of course this does not mean that I don't love it when people gush over my art*

Trying to justify buying a drawing board - well...I say justify, I mean when I find somewhere in my junk-hole of room to put it and get at it easily (which has not worked for my printer/scanner). I found this absolutely fantastic book in a cheap store that shows how to produce the manga greyscreens on a computer! I love that book!

Hoping to get some of my many projects done soon...HA!

On a side note - my students still haven't worked out who I am...XD

I'm so tired that I might just keel over in to the keyboard as I type. Whoever thinks teaching is easy should be left to some wild animal....possibly a wombat - hey, they can be vicious too! Holidays are what teachers use to recover from the rest of the year.

Anyhoo, I've only got to survive three more days and then I can sleep for two weeks straight. I'll actually get to see my friends and I'll have time to do things that I want, like actually going to pick up the new car I paid for or getting some of the art sitting on my hard drive finished or completing one of my fanfictions...okay so that last one isn't going to happen in two weeks but stranger things have occurred in shorter spaces of time.

I've found that when I come home from work and I really can't do anything, the best solution is to watch a movie that I don't really have to concentrate on (preferrably a comedy). Last week I watched Dead Man's Chest (again), today it was The Mummy. God that movie is camp, but so much fun!

Bah, I'm too tired, I should go to bed...

Look out for more activity from me in the next couple of weeks. I might even take a picture of me with my new car!

Hong Kong was a blast. I spent too much but meh, who cares!

I have settled nicely into my first full time job. I love teaching and I love the fact I get a set pay check every fortnight. But it is lots of work and so all my writing and drawing and RPG playing gets put on the back burner. *sigh*

Although, when my brain is tired, drawing seems to be the only thing it can cope with, so I should have some b/w drawings going up soon.

The orchestra I work for has finally announced it's next concert dates. A Night In Fantasia 2007: Symphonic Games Edition, will take place at Hammer Hall (Melbourne Concert Hall) on Apriil 27th. It should be huge, we have something like five guest artists coming over from Japan, and the great thing about Emience is that you usually get to meet them artists and/or guest after the show. Finished wathing Host Club last night. God I love that series. Can't wait for the next one to come out.

Valentines Day will once again sweep past and leave me behind. On to the rest of the year then!

Between trying to get my passport done, stressing that my work contract has gone off into oblivion because I forgot to put a stamp on the envelope (because said passport distracted me at the wrong moment), running around doing Eminence things, and getting ready fro my brother's birthday party tonight, I'll think I'll go spare. >.<

Not to mention that one of the girls I'm going on holiday with has just put me in the biggest s**ts.

Once again I had written an entry a couple of days ago but the net wiped it just as I submitted...bleh.

Some new stuff up. Most will be moved to scraps after I get around to colouring them.

Anyhoo. Been having fun lately, despite the lack of time to do so. I have a teaching round starting tomorrow that I haven't prepared for yet and here I am writing an entry for this. Oh well.

Went to MAniFest last weekend. Had an absolute blast, even though I was sick from Friday night til...well now, actually.

I bought a heap of stuff I didn't need but meh, who cares? I almost won out at the auction on the One Piece Art Book (original Japanese) but it got a bit too far out of my price range.

Submitted art to the art show again and found that they were having a competition this year! So I entered three pieces (the max for one category) into the CG section. "Elf", "What do Saiyan's Drink Anyway" (for which I got a weird look for the title) and "Frieza's Favourites". I also put up "Ki Suit" and "The Untouchables" just because they look pretty and I liked them but they weren't good enough to enter.

Actually neither were the other pieces when compared to some of the stuff entered. ^.^'

Piano Stories IV on the Saturday night totally went off! The muscians got a standing ovation at the end of the second concert. Go Melbourne Eminence Division! I missed the second half because by that time I was just so brain dead from counting money and merchandise...so I sat out in the foyer with the others talking about the next concert instead - at least I didn't have to do lights for the second one...I was so afraid that I'd stuff it up at the first session.

I got a job interview on Wednesday! My first resume out and I get an interview! Yatta! Of course I'm bound to stuff it up but we'll see how it goes.

Seems to be all I have time for lately. Cept that I'm probably the biggest slacker in the known world. So I finished my little manga project. It doesn't have a title...or a front page...but these are minor details.

So I propose a competition! Come up with a suitable name for the mini manga and I'll credit it to you when I get around to drawing the front page.

So. Went to the Education Careers Expo today. It was a little helpful - like I found some jobs going. But that was about it. I entered many draws to win an iPod and seriously considered going to the UK sometime in the future to teach. But I've heard many horror stories.

We all recieved a compliment from the UK agency guy though. Apparently Australian teachers are the best trained teachers in their areas in the world. WooT go me!

Have too many pointless assignments due in the near future. Never thought I'd say that about work that counted towards my grades but that's what they are.

These help me teach how? *sigh*

Found a wonderful quote from Terry Pratchett the other day. From his short story 'Cult Classic' - "And I went on reading; and, since if you read enough books you overflow, I eventually became a writer."

Now if only that could happen to the rest of us.

I really wish I had time to sit down and write more.

So, with assignments (five of them mind you) hanging over my head...where are the actual holidays? I can't have fun with work nagging me. *sigh*

Anyway. This rest of this week is promising to be a lot of fun.
Wednesday - Pick Amy up from airport and drive her to her new house (on the other side of the city...)
Friday - Dinner and Swan Lake on Ice
Saturday - Dinner party at Amy's
Sunday - All day work and general slavery at the Eminence concerts.

BTW - Eminence Symphony Orchestra is holding it's annual A Night in Fantasia Concert this Sunday 2nd July at the Melbourne Town Hall and a week later in Sydney at the Sydney Town Hall. The music featured is from Final Fantasy 1 through 12 (yep premiring) as well as Studio Ghibli films (Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke etc.) and two new computer games who's names escape me.

Still have used my time off productively and have gotten some artwork finished as well as some more writing done.

Now if only I could finish my assignment.

Hopefully I'll have finished the year book pictures by tonight so then i can start writing little profile bits... like: so-and-so wants to be ... will most like be ...
stuff like that and so on.

Have almost finished the shading for the pic that is currently displayed in My Favourite. Am still deciding whether or not to try my hand at highlights. Thankfully my skill with Photoshop has gotten better. If you look at my avatar it's a small sneak preview ^.^

Also have to finish the colour on the Ki Suit and the scrap entitled Untouchables.

Made a big mistake the other day. I made my friend cry! It was happy tears thankfully but I was still embarrased because we were in a busy resturant. -.-' Anyway, the reason she cried was because it was her birthday and I made her a portrait of me, her and our friend Amy, anime style, coloured and inked it and put it in a nice frame. It was a mistake because - I forgot to scan it before I gave it to her! I still have the original sketch but...the coloured one was so much better!

*Sigh* I suppose I'll just have to ask to borrow it back for a day or two. I'm sure she won't mind.

Sometimes it seems like I just don't have the time to do much. Especially these next two weeks, since I'm on teaching rounds.

I feel at least that my initial sketching ability has improved - in style as well as presentation. It must have been all that manga I read over the past year.

I think my stuff went over well at Manifest this year. While I haunted the area where my art was showing (though nowhere near the high level of some of the things on display) no one said anything bad about it (must've waited until I'd left the room ). And I won a prize in the artshow raffle ^.^

I also graduated last year. The ceremony is in April (I think) but I have to go back into Uni on Monday to enrol in my graduate diploma. Should be an exciting year.

Heading off to Sydney next Sunday for a week. Also thinking about going to Hong Kong at the end of the year, provided I can keep my money in my bank account instead of handing it all over to the nice guy who runs the manga shop (and gives me a discount).

I wanted to get something else other than my pencil drawings and my badly done with Photoshop colourings to show people, so I've taken up cel painting. I have one that I completed at Manifest last year, one done of my own drawing and another that I'm still working on the shadowing for. When I finish that one I'll post all three and see what people think. Mostly I want them to say I've improved.

I'm planning on going back to Manifest this year and getting the man who ran the class to show me some of the more difficult tricks.

I've also started som scrap pages for the manga some friends and I are writing. I get stuck with the drawing as I'm the only one who can. But it's fun. I've posted some characters designs and stuff under scraps if anyone's interested. I've only plotted out four pages at the minute 'cause I'm lazy and I'm stuck with doing the storyline on my own for the minute. But all I really have to do is have the main characters meet each other.

*sigh* Add to that the lack of any skill whatsoever with things like photoshop. The line tool and paint bucket are my friends. It usually takes me a good twenty minutes to figure out how to get the gradient tool working properly. Think I might as well stick to my black and white drawings and learn how to use a colour pencil properly. ]]> ~Karete
