I loved the original book.

If any of you guys have seen the movie, PLEASE NO SPOILERS. I'm worried that this movie is going to tear my heart out and pee in the remains, but I'm trying to avoid any full summaries of the plot. (Even though it follows the fundamentals of the original book.)

Uh, when I actually see WtWTA, I'll update this journal with my opinion. XD I'm excited.

By the way, I got my blood drawn today, and received two shots - immunizations for meningitis and some other virus (I forgot its name) respectively. One went in the upper right arm and the other in my upper left arm. I kind of feel like a pincushion, but I'm used to needles so it doesn't really bother me anymore. Besides, the worst I felt was a slightly annoying sting while the doctor administered the last shot and I didn't cringe during that. I had to wake up at seven in the morning so I could make it to my appointment on-time, so I think it's done a number on my mood, but all-in-all I got a clean bill of health during the check-up so I think it was worth it. However, the doctor was concerned with weight gain so we're going to work on my diet.

HELLO MY NAME IS TOTAL LOSER AND I WILL BE WRITING DOWN EVERY ACCOMPLISHMENT I'VE MADE IN FINAL FANTASY X FOR YOU OKAY? OKAY. <3

(HOLYF*** I finally won the World Champion for Wakka. I've never done that before. It's seemed like an insurmountable goal, but now I have an awesome team so everything's awesome. Ironically, the Ronso Fangs, the team which intimidated me the most, are now abysmal compared to me because I have a Guado on my team who can outrun all of the players. Ronsos have good Endurance, but as far as speed goes... yeah. I'm cheap as hell. :3

As far as the actual gameplay goes, I've obtained the Caladbolg, Nirvana, Masamune, and Godhand for their respective characters and unlocked their full capabilities. Tidus is now dealing 35,000-to-60,000 damage on a regular basis (this is an ordinary physical attack!), and once inflicted the maximum amount during a critical hit. As far as Yuna goes, she's replaced Lulu as my black mage because I'm never going to get Lulu's Onion Knight fully activated. I managed to cover all of Lulu's sphere grid with Yuna and learn Ultima.

Tidus has gone over his sphere grid, Auron's, and Wakka's, giving him over 100 (haha at least 100) strength points. Neat-o. Auron doesn't inflict nearly as much damage as Tidus yet, but this is because Masamune is most effective when he's near the brink of death. One of the disappointments to Masamune is that it lacks the Piercing ability, which was something very useful for Auron in the past. However, I managed to increase Auron's attack so it rivals Tidus's, so he's doing a lot more damage.

Rikku's on Wakka's sphere grid and she usually steals valuable stuff from other monsters. Since I've increased her strength, she's a lot stronger when she Mugs opponents. I like Rikku.

Wakka isn't worth much until I completely unlock World Champion. Until then, he's stuck at inflicting 9,999 damage. I'm hoping to do that soon, since he's actually one of my favorite characters in terms of personality and battle style and I don't like neglecting him. I'll probably give him a cool weapon that can totally disorient his opponents.

Right now, my team's training in Omega Ruins and the Monster Arena in the Calm Lands. The Omega Ruins is amazing, but my defense is incredibly low so I'm a sitting duck when a Great Malboro inevitably ambushes me. Bad Breath totally wipes out my party. So I'm reinforcing all of my armor to carry the Darkproof, Confuseproof, and Stoneproof features since I find those ailments the most frustrating.

The Monster Arena is fantastic. I love earning all of the cool items that the proprietor gives you when you conquer different areas. The monster creations are tremendously hard, but I've managed to defeat a few of them. My current record for beating Stratoavis is around 5 minutes, if I really pummel him with Overdrives and other cheap tactics. I demonstrated in front of my totally-uninterested-but-still-cooperative parents.

But Cactaur King continues to elude me! I'll just abuse Wakka like hell during those fights. I managed to figure out how to counter his evasion on my own, but a guide helped me elaborate that tactic since I'm otherwise very unprepared to fight a big nasty cactus that can spray 99,999 needles out of its ass.

I conclude this journal by saying that Tonberries are adorable and I want a plush of one made. Why hasn't anyone made some really cute ones yet? I'd design one if possible.

So here's my goal:

And I'm 5'3". Honestly, I'd like to lose a lot more weight, but I guess I need to take one step at a time.

To be honest, I've always been kind of chubby. Even when I was practically starving myself in 2005. 2005 kind of sucked. Stupid 2005.

I want to reinstall Ragnarok Online on my computer, too. I miss that game. :C I used to love it and somehow I stopped playing. I'll convince Cogidubnus to start playing with me again too. Oh, but I'm on Furcadia now. It's neat. I want to get a "job" someplace, but I'm going to do that after I get all my commissions finished. As I am writing this, I am both upset and worried over Hurricane Ike and listening to an autistic child screaming his head off.

This is not a good combination.

I'm scared stiff of hurricanes and tornadoes, so any and all news precipitating Hurricane Ike is just making me twitch and bite my pencil. My Writing teacher helped me by showing me a map that displayed Hurricane Ike reversing its path slightly so it slopes away from the Palm Beach region (and that there's a possibility it will turn away completely since many other hurricanes have done the same), but I'm still nervous as hell because it might accelerate to a category 4. All the resources I've checked are spouting off some doom-dialogue about it smacking where I live like an enormous bitch-slap from God, or at least that's probably my mental image exacerbating things.

I have an absurd paranoia about a hurricane spawning a bunch of tornadoes that will destroy my home. It's terrible. My house could probably serve as a bunker since it's really well-built, but I've never gone through a category 4 or 5, and I don't know how many tornadoes it spawns or whatever if the eye passes over us. (Hurricane Andrew doesn't count; I was really young and not in the destruction area)

I admit part of me is just terrified that Hurricane Ike is going to become another Gustav. I can't handle a category 5; God bless those people in New Orleans for surviving two.

It seems like my mom's just making light of the situation instead of consoling me, which... isn't really the sort of thing I want to hear, because it just feels like she's underestimating all of this. She promises we'll evacuate if Ike looks particularly threatening, but I am full of a lot of paranoia.

Actually, writing this about the hurricane is making me feel significantly better but my pessimistic attitude is raping my head.

Unless it increases in strength sometime over its travel to the Bahamas, Ike will probably be a level 1 when it hits Florida. Not to mention, I will barely receive the brunt of the damage because it'll deliberately ghost by the West side, whereas I live on the East side, and inland.

However, this is probably going to be altered in the future. I'm not really certain yet, but I'm definitely relieved.

1) What's your character's name?
Katherine “Keaton” Imenwati-Jyraneth (usually shortened to Jyraneth for clan affiliation purposes), Dekuyaketh (real name David Andross), Tikal Diethelm St. Zerachiel

2) How old is he/she?
Keaton: Keaton is over 300 years old in her original incarnation; those who are familiar with her DMFA-based form will recall I made her 519. I had to cut down on her age a little to reach a compromise with some elements of her background-story that I had to remove. But since this is about original Keaton and not DMFA Keaton, I’ll refrain from the semantics.
Dekuyaketh: Thirty-two. He’s very young for a Demon, since ones reduced to the servitude of a noble or lord Demon have near-infinite lifespans and reincarnation abilities.
Tikal: Not sure; like with Keaton, it depends on his particular incarnation. He was over four hundred in his DMFA version; nowadays he’s been reduced in age along with Keaton.

3) Is your OC a boy or girl?
Keaton: Female.
Dekuyaketh: Male.
Tikal: Male.

4) What's his/her race species?
Keaton: Keaton is from the same world as Dekuyaketh. By species, she is an anthropomorphic black-backed jackal. By race, she is an Etazekyn (name pending), or a highly independent group of anthropomorphic creatures possessing enhanced, sub-Demonic abilities.
Dekuyaketh: He is a Demon – a Converted Demon, to be precise, meaning that he was once of another race before he was turned into a Demon. He is a Maine Coon.
Tikal: A black-backed jackal with some great horned owl blood, as indicated by the traces of feathers in his pelt. He is of the Glass Angel race; a race victim to a hideous genocide.

Appearance


1) If this character were to suddenly become part of the real world, and ended up in a heavily-populated area, how many stares would he/she get?
Keaton: Considering she’s an anthropomorphic jackal, I’d say she’d get a hell of a lot.
Dekuyaketh: He’s an anthropomorphic animal. He’s utterly Demonic in appearance, with the horns and wings. He’s over seven feet tall. He’s got that enormous claw-arm. People would lynch him.
Tikal: Aside from the whole anthropomorphic thing, since Tikal has feathery wings, he’d probably be considered a religious phenomenon.

2) Is your character considered normal in his/her own world?
Keaton: Keaton’s particular race closely resembles another on her world, so she could effortlessly blend in with the population. If anyone was aware of her real heritage, they’d certainly be surprised, but not as vehemently opposed to her being alive as most would be of, say, Demons. If anything, people would find her presence remarkable, considering most members of her race thrive away from society.
Dekuyaketh: Not really, but this is because of the social stigma against Demons.
Tikal: Actually, not really. This is because Tikal’s race is so reclusive and prefers to stick to their sanctuaries, so seeing a Glass Angel out and about so openly among civilization, most especially on missionary work, is remarkable.

3) What would be his/her most recognizable feature(s)?
Keaton: The yellow and black fur, and what’s underneath her eye-patch. >:3
Dekuyaketh: His Demonic features, most likely. Horns, wings, a scorpion tail, and the like – plus his massive, mechanical arm and the artificial eye implanted on his forehead.
Tikal: His bigass feathery wings and albinism.

4) Would you consider your OC as attractive?
Keaton: Not really, but this is because she started off as my avatar and started to develop into an entirely independent persona. Uh, there's not really anything interesting to report other than that. I like school because I like my teachers. In case it isn't clear, I go to preparatory school.

My schedule includes World Studies (studying China's history during the first semester, followed by Russia, Afghanistan), Geometry (with the cutest little Chinese teacher ever), Study Skills, English, Chemistry, and Writing. All with my teachers from last year.

English is probably the class I'm looking forward to the most, as well as Writing (for obvious reasons). For English we're planning on reading Richard Wright's Native Son and Truman Capote's In Cold Blood, but we're still unclear about my reading list. Fahrenheit 451, one of my favorite books, was on the list, but we're probably not going to read that.

WTF WHY IS EVERYONE IN SOULCALIBUR IV LIVE BETTER AT THE GAME THAN I AM? This is terrible. I'm losing my touch.

Granted, part of the contributing factors to my (lack of) success is the terrible lag, which seems to affect my favorite characters most of all, and in certain stages. Unfortunately, these stages happen to be the only ones anyone ever picks, ever.

Plus, when I die, everyone I fight seems to find it fit to keep attacking my corpse even after I'm dead. I'd do the same right back at those jackasses if I actually beat any of them. :<

So in conclusion...

...Actually, none of this is really bothering me. I just wanted to update my journal footer. I need sleep.

As a note regarding picture-production: My scanner seems to be busted, so production on artwork will be very backlogged. However, I'm still drawing the commissions I owe; it's just that uploading them properly and inking and coloring them is kind of impossible at the moment. The only other option I have is a digital camera, and it's pretty useless as a scanner unless I want to give people low-resolution previews of their pictures. My gripes with the digital camera is that, while it would make an adequate substitute if I wasn't a total perfectionist, I can't adjust the resolution of the pictures to the maximum size (which is what I scan my images at so I can ink them) and the quality of the pictures do not rival that of a good scanner's. Why am I still typing? I love you people.

By the way, here's the conclusion of my last journal: I'm probably going to sell prints of my artwork, but not on DeviantArt. Also, I'm going to sell prints of my original artwork, not my fanart, because I don't want to unintentionally profit off of another person's concept. If I can get the hang of print-selling and if interest is high enough and if it sells right, I can probably try making things like bookmarks, calendars, mugs, and t-shirts. I have an idea for a calendar, but it'd probably kill my hands, because all of them involve cramming as much detail as humanly possible into each image.

I don't have many original pieces that I'm proud of in my DeviantArt gallery, so I'm going to draw some new things, especially now that I'm armed with a shading and coloring style. I should pump out some prototype artwork and designs, but this takes place after all my commissions are finished.

Should I start making prints of my artwork?

Granted, the biggest problem with this is that most of my best drawings are in the 100 Themes series, which centers on characters based off of DMFA. 65: Horror passes off well enough as an original piece because Lianna and Keaton don't have wings, but I probably shouldn't feature the 100 Themes series as a print at all.

But I should probably start drawing my original characters or the original variation of Keaton more often so I can make prints. This could be fun. Can you print your stuff on mugs?

Mind you, this all comes after the commissions. Production of the 100 Themes series and other pictures will continue after I've finished the commissions. Other projects tend to distract me, so I decided things I haven't been paid to do should wait. Blast you people and your generosity! I was only supposed to accept four commissions, but the temptation of moar money affected my brains. :<

Irrelevantly, I'm planning on using the money for commissions to buy a customized plushie of Keaton from ~BriteWingz to bring to AC 09. Check out her stuff; it's adorable. I should post the plans for that stuff up here once I'm done with them.

I was half-expecting for the kid next to me to look at me and say, "You're weird, lady."

Thursday, the 26th:

Plane ride was utterly uneventful, aside from the fact I was a little grouchy from lack of sleep and a little wound up. Also very much in disbelief that I was actually there. Either way, when me and my mom got to the hotel, I probably would have stayed there all day because I was too scared to actually leave and meet everyone. I also thought nobody was really gathering yet. Haz was online at the time, so I talked to him, and he convinced me to go to the Zoo so I could see him.

Anyway, I had my cell phone with me, so I used it to find him. Granted, there was a moment of hilarity:
Me: Okay, I'm here at registration. Where are you?
Haz: Behind you.
Me: *can't hear him* Beside me?
Haz: BEHIND you.
Me: What? *turning in every direction*
Haz: *standing behind me, waves*
Me: ...oh. Behind me.

Anyway, everyone ("everyone" being ShadesFox, Tapewolf, Mischa, Reese Tora, Magalian, Sofox, The Lurking Dragon, Jouster, Kenji, Zedd, and a few others - there were a LOT of people so it's hard for me to remember all of 'em) showed up a moment later, and I started blushing and freaking out and generally being very shy, because I just had no idea what to do and I was speechless. However, I felt much better a few moments later because everyone really went out of their way to make me feel welcome and happy, and they definitely succeeded.

Tapewolf gave me a printed version of the comic adaptation of his DMFA story and two CDs he made; I helped ShadesFox with his Phoenix Wright game; we talked about some old video games - Tapewolf recalled one where you could plant tulips in a dead hamster's body and ShadesFox remembered one where everyone and everything was killable; and I talked about literature with a very literature-fluent Siberian Tiger who could quote some complicated excerpts off the top of his head, which I thought was incredible. Speaking of him, I still owe him a sketch, so I wish I had gotten his contact information prior to leaving.

Tapewolf gave me a Kinder Egg. I ate it. It was like the chocolate of the Gods.

Naomi (a family friend) and my Mom also talked a lot with some of the other people, and I had my first encounter with a fursuiter. He, um, was very affectionate. I ended up posing with him for a picture, I think. I don't remember very well. Any way, I ended up leaving rather happy.

Friday, the 27th:

Not much happened this day. I ended up missing the gathering at the dealer's room. :C My ankles were all swollen from running so fast and I think I lost five pounds from running back and forth from the hotel to the dealer's room. Mischa was there, though, and he showed me to Amber (EEEEEE!) and Tikiman's table. I also gave him a drawing I owed him but hell, he deserved better than the one I gave him, so I want to draw him a new one. I was able to order a commission from both of them. Later, I went to go visit Kenji, Jouster, and ShadesFox at the Zoo - they told me everyone else had gone drinking. They also told me Tapewolf was ten times more recognizable because he got a pair of head-wings.

Saturday, the 28th:

Now see, this day was AWESOME. Mom, Naomi, and I ended up running to the dealer's room at 10:30 and I met Jouster at the auctioning section. I saw an adorable lucky bat statue which I desperately wanted so I could possibly send it to Stygian, but I couldn't buy it because the auctions ended in Sunday morning, which was when I was leaving. I saw Tapewolf a moment later and he showed me where he got the head-wings, and he made a commission from the same vendor, who was very awesome and was wearing an Umbrella Corporation T-Shirt, which I wholeheartedly approve of. I got a pair of black bat wings which I wore on my head, but later in the day I had to take them off because they were kind of cutting off the circulation to my forehead. I'll wear them again next year.

Tapewolf informed me that he saw an adorable Keaton chibi at Amber's table, and I promptly freaked out. We merrily made our way to the table, and I... I met her. My Madonna.

The Keatsicle. Which is an adorable Keaton chibi ON A STICK. On a f***ing STICK. That is amazing and I love it and oh god I'm freaking out again because it was just adorable. ;-; That Keaton-on-a-stick won my heart and soul. Tikiman also gave me his commission a while later, which was bloody fantastic and made Keaton look so gorgeous. <3 I envy peoples' traditional coloring skills. :C

EDIT (05/03/08): Oh my god! OO Thanks for the happy birthday wishes from everyone! ;-; Thank you all so much. I had a great birthday - part of my loot was a Wacom art tablet, so I'm hoping to start drawing again very soon. I just need to learn how to use this, since I'm very inexperienced and not very good at using the tablet yet.

I'll probably tackle some of those memes as practice.

I just realized that the image above has the most favorites (I think) out of all of my pictures. And it's one of the oldest things in my gallery.

Seriously. Why do people like this picture so much? I should redraw it, anyway. I made that stupid thing when I was still getting the hang of Photoshop.

Um... actually, there's no point to this journal other than to report that things are fine on my end, and that I'm flabbergasted with the popularity of that aforementioned Gatomon picture. Some new art should probably be up eventually; I have a few commissions on GAIA Online to take care of anyway. Then I have the next of the 100 Themes to finish.

I'll probably work on some profiles of my characters in the Etakor series after that, as well as information on Etakor itself.

oh god I swear the Phoenix Wright journals will stop after this one. I just finished playing Trials and Tribulations and I was inspired by the ending. So here, have a list of pairings that I support and some stamps which I deliberately searched for and really, really liked.

So I was talking to my parents earlier, and I had a weird idea. I showed Mom some sprites of Phoenix Wright and asked her if there were any actors she thought looked like him. She answered that Brandon Routh would make a good Phoenix Wright. Then I asked my Dad, and he said "Nicolas Cage." My sister said "Keanu Reeves."

Personally I think, visually, Keanu Reeves is right on the money. [link] Mostly in this picture. Though as demonstrated in Family Guy, if a woodpecker flew over, landed on Keanu Reeves's head, and started pecking away, he wouldn't even react.

Because yes, Keanu Reeves is made out of wood. It's true.

So I told you that story to tell you this story. This got me thinking; if there was a Phoenix Wright movie, who do you guys think would make excellent actors to portray the characters?

The RP is called Eternal Rains. It takes place on a dystopia-centered bastardization of ordinary Furrae, so I've kind of nicknamed Eternal Rains "the RP In Which Everybody is F***ed Over" in my head.

Just posting this before I leave to go to my friend's house for two days. The first of the 100 Themes pictures has been posted (1: Introduction), but you may notice my gallery's a bit emptier than it was before. That's because I took complete and total advantage of the folder organization system to sort everything out.

If there's a picture missing, just look for them in the folders. Here are the folders:

So a few days ago, I came to a shocking realization while playing as my original Ninja character in Ragnarok Online.

Ninjas suck.

Yes, they do. Of course, I've always been a pirate fangirl, but that's beside the point. Way beside the point. I created a new account, you see, this time as an Archer.

Not much to say, actually, except hopefully I'll start regularly updating again because the ever-awesome GOT ME TWO SUBSCRIPTIONS TO DEVIANTART. BOO YEAH!

I suck at headers and footers, but hopefully I can make this journal something of substance soon. For one there'll be an influx of art since I'm taking on the 100 Themes challenge now that I have all the requests finished, and maybe I'll get some writing done at the DMFA forums too.
