I was totally terrified when I read the syllabus this semester and found out that we were supposed to do a 2-minute film in a month. I'd never even done more than 15 seconds of animation in a month, which I didn't even finish!

My poor baby iBook has served me beautifully for 6 years. He still works just fine, most of the time, as long as you're very patient. I usually have to go off and do something else for about 10 minutes every time I hit Save in Photoshop. And his battery is 100% kaput, so he dies if you so much as bump the power cord the wrong way. These two factors have combined to cause quite a few calamities over time. But I still love him, and he's at least getting a new battery during winter break.

The problem is that this year, I'm taking classes that deal pretty much exclusively with Maya and CS5. Anyway... I WORKED ON IT. My animation teacher from last year has his own studio, and they do all the "big idea" sequences at the end of each episode. He needed some extra help, so a few of my classmates and I got to do a little mini-internship last spring. And the episodes I worked on are being aired right now!

I like this year!! I like it a lot. I'm taking animation, storyboards, digital compositing, and anatomy as core classes, and since I already have all my liberal arts requirements taken care of (MSU was good for something!) I had lots of nice room on my schedule for MORE animation! I filled that space up with character design (weirdly, not a requirement for the major?) and a Maya class.

DeviantArt is making such a big deal about the new prints store that it motivated me to give my own little corner of it a much-needed refurb. It turned out to be quite the undertaking. Mostly, this involved me bumping up all the prices.

I love all my classes to death and even better, I feel like what I'm learning is going to help me do what I want. My schedule is pretty much all animation all the time, and I LOVE it. Even the totally boring basic assignments we've been working on are satisfying, in their way.

The city is... very different from anywhere else I've ever lived. Pretty sure I like it. I'm still kind of figuring out the whole grocery-shopping thing.

You have no idea how good it feels to be making progress in my life again, and to be working towards goals that for a while I didn't really feel like I could ever get to. My years at Disney have been really fun, and I have zero regrets about taking the time off, but I always had the knowledge that it was a side trip. Being back on track is GREAT!!!

Recently I've gotten back on track, motivated, and lots of bandit shifts which means lots of free time. I've gone through and finished the few commissions I was paid for aaaages ago, and now I think I'm fully ready to take on a few more.

During the day we hear the train and every night at 10:00 it's like BANG and we're like what's that? oh wait it's just Wishes. So I'm listening to the fireworks right now. They're really loud.

I had basically the BEST BIRTHDAY EVER too. I went to Epcot with a couple of my closest friends, and we had lunch in Japan and it was deeeelicious. Then another of my friends showed up by surprise right before we were going to go on Spaceship Earth, and gave me my present. I opened it up and almost cried. Five of my friends, the gangsters I work allll the time with, all chipped in and got me a freakin' Nintendo DS. WITH Animal Crossing!!! So I'm never going to be bored at work again!!!!!

Then we sat and ate homemade cake in the middle of Epcot.
