Anymoose.

Heading back East in acouple of weeks, though not as far east as I would like to be. Instead of stretching all the way out to Portland, Maine I'll be making my stop in Baltimore, Maryland for my Cousin Matthew's wedding. Bound to be a good time I think, and hark, I'll be wearing a dress. Funny how two years ago I fought, tooth, nail, spit and venom not to wear one. But now I have one that I like. ONE that I like. end of story.

Also, Thanksgiving next week! May be out of town, may not. we shall see. Yes, we shall see.

Art is being updated at a better pace now, seeing as my studio space is almost completely set up. The scanner is back in business and photographing things has become simpler. photos of 3D work to come. cell phone images, my apologies, but its better than nothing.

Working at the Deli poses no threat or distraction, and believe it or not, it's quite fun to slice various meats and cheeses all day! Work there is pretty concentrated, so it's easy to stay busy and not get bored.

All in all, work and play, well balanced.
Good times are afoot my loves. good times indeed.

Also, a couple of days ago I yawned real big and my jaw clicked pretty hard. It smarted but was still in tact so I didn't think about it. Lately though it's just been sore and gets stiff at night. Hoping that'll go away as well.

In working at the Deli, there are afew things one must be careful of. Spinning blades on meat slicers, juice spills on floors, hot rotisserie ovens, etc. What I DIDN'T watch out for was a small bladed hook that we use to open vacuum sealed meat and cheese. The darn thing snapped forward on me and bit out a small corner of my thumb. But that's almost completely regrown as well.

Human body is an amazing thing really. ya get the snot beat out of ya, sometimes by others sometimes yourself, and it finds a way to put itself back together again.

Pretty Amazing.

And since I was there 10 minutes after sundown, the cops even gave me a birthday gift! A shiny ticket for being parked in the lot after sundown. It's not too much, so I don't horrendously mind, but it's still ridiculous. ah well. cest la vie.

20. It's crazy to think I survived this long. Time do do aliitle livin' I guess.

I'm digging the Deli hardcore. Soon I get to learn how to work the fryer.

Columbia is treating me quite well. I still miss Portland, but Chicago is feeling better and better. Living at home is an on and off experience, but I shall survive.

I had to leave so I could produce a good body of quality work for my senior year art portfolio in High school. Two days after graduation, I got hit with a particularly nasty strain of Mono. Hospitalization nasty. So when I was finally well, I could only apply to be rehired for about a month, and then breaks. I was denied.

When this summer came around, I applied again. And was denied. And then, a month later, again. And was denied. Finally, some less than pleasant family issues came to be, and I walked in, and against my better judgement, made them known to my hiring manager. And begged. I got the same verbal run-around as all the other times I was denied.

so when another company I had placed an application in gave me a shot, I took it, only to be told yes by my theater a week later after orientation had been completed. so I had to say no. Afew shifts into the new job, and I went back to the theater once more, to ask if they still had the paper work. More verbal run around and a promise of a call.

I called them today.

They told me, they don't think I'm serious about wanting to work there again.
Because I took the other job.
...

Two years of reapplication, bringing in things I never wanted to have to use, and I'm being penalized for taking a job offered to me over them because I didn't think they'd finally say yes.

And they tell me i'm not serious.

I haven't been this hurt in quite some time.

And now my new job KNOWS that I'm expendable and unhappy.

I've got alot of faked smiles and hoping ahead of me.

I dunno why. Somehow they manage to clean off the physical grime as well as anything lingering on the mind and soul. I'm not sure what does it.
The heat, the steam, the scent of fruity shampoo and Bodywash.
Maybe more than anything its each bead of water hitting my skin, rinsing off the slime and creating the overall massage sensation.

All I know is, theres nothing in this world that makes me happier than taking a long hot shower and drying off brushing my hair out to some acoustic godsmack.

Alot of movies, eating out, pictures, colleges and Japanese market

got my homework done in there at some point as well! Talk about accomplishments.

Plane left after i went to an open house at Columbia which is looking better and better as I go along. I got through airline security and baggage just as they were calling for my zone to board. Hopped on the plane, read, slept, took a GORGEOUS picture out the window of the sun setting above the clouds.

Got to Baltimore and discovered that my flight was delayed for an hour. Fish fillet, solitare, and freecell ensued. Got on the plane. Made it back to portland about mindnight. And once more, my bag did not make it there with me. This is the second time this has happened mind you. -.- So another day of marking my claim and febreezed clothes. Suitcase came today. good times.

Back in Portland Maine, Ready to tackle the rest of my semester. Lets do this!

Back in Portland for my second semester at MECA. Airport was a load of trouble which resulted in my flight being changed three times, once to a different airline and a reroute of how I was getting where I was going. Ultimately delays stuck me in a hotel for the night, luckily payed for by the airline. And the woman, who handled BOTH of my flight changes that day, Was kind enough to put me up in a darn nice hotel and have the longer of my two flights upgraded to first class seating.

Got back to Portland minus my luggage and cell phone.
My luggage has been delivered to me
My cell phone disappeared in a Detroit airport bathroom

I suspect I'll never see Stuart (my cell phone) again, based on the principle that his battery had been fully charged the night prior and yet he turned off about 10 minutes after his disappearance, bringing the fact that someone had found him and shut him down.
Reports and phone calls have been made to the airport thanks in large part to the internet and some very generous friends with phones of their own. The lost and found has informed me they do not have a phone matching my description which would be hard for them to miss seeing as my description was over-the-top detailed.

I miss my Stuart

Tomorrow I go to a completely re-routed painting class and if it has the same syllabus as the one I checked today, I may be dropping it in favor of a class with less expenses attached.

so a rocky start, but roads do tend to smooth out eventually.

I've officially gone through one whole week of classes. I gotta say, I'm liking it so far. My time is well manageable and the classes are interesting Though the cost of art supplies may just kill me. At least the local Art Mart has good prices!

I've already made friends (Shout out to Riley, Paige, Adi, Leah, Livy, Matt, and Jonny) whom I see on a pretty much daily basis. They're fun to hang out with too and just as strange as I am. My roommate didn't end up coming here, so I'm sorry i didn't get to meet her, but it does mean i have a double to myself.

Only complaint thus far? The mattresses are killing my lower back like you would not believe.

All in all, good times in my first year of college.
if the classes i'm taking have been described to me correctly, there should be plenty of updates coming from me soon. I'll even post the cover of the sketchbook I bound, just as soon as I decorate the darn thing

2 Days to College Time.
Going From Illinois to Maine.
Lets get this thing together.

(T-4) Been doing a frigton of packing and select shopping for the past 2 days. I swear, I'd never be able to do this with a minimum of boxes if it weren't for all the tetris I've played. Got calls yesterday confirming that the school didn't receive some of my more important forms like the BFA Agreement or my current medical records. Fixed that up well enough, but they're also missing some financial forms I mailed a month+ ago. I'm gunna blame the post office. My room is on the top floor (judging by common numbering systems, but maybe they've reversed it in my building for no apparent reason ) and my roommate is quite possibly non-existant, so I've got some more stuff to pull together. Moving on to packing pleasantries. Bank accounts in order. Saying goodbye one last time to the IHOP crowd and wishing my friends who have already moved off good luck! I'll put up a new journal when I'm finally there and in "Holy Shit" mode. Till then my dear children.

(T-6) Less than a week. Technically leaving in 4 days, but I'm moving in in 6. Almost finished up here, just gotta actually put thins in boxes and check off a list. Must buy computer lap desk. I'm gunna be all prepared, and then completely forget my toothbrush.

(T-19) holy hell we're out of the 20s now o.o okay so I think I've got most of what I need. seems like I mostly need an armchair pillow and a lap desk. got a lamp that doubles as an iPod dock, good times so I'm just nearing the 2 week mark, gunna start putting things in boxes soon. Good thing I have sharpies.

(T-26) Getting things for the dorm like storage bins, cups, bowls, etc. Got 12 cups for $1 at the goodwill store, its great for buying dorm items. Mum got me a plush sheep that snores and Baas. The idea of where I'll be soon gets more real with each day.

PART DUEX
So I just got back from Wizard World Comicon. I got the issues of the Umberella Academy that I've been missing, except for number 5. But I also got the trader so that'll tide me over until I can complete the individual issues of Apocalypse Suite.
I also won a copy of she hulk, Brett that belongs to you now, and a copy of something else I don't quite remember the title of.
I spent the whole day with my friends both in the group and one on one. Twas a damn good day I'll tell you that!
I really loved it, and I fully plan on returning next year
We also saw the animated movie Gotham Knight which is like a prequel almost to the Dark Knight which will be out in theaters soon. Gotham Knight is pretty much several animated shorts that all connect story-line wise but are done by different artists and writers each bringing their own unique style to the short. I really loved it, it was completely awesome and amazing. I might buy it when it comes out July 8th on DVD

I'm sorry if the quality is blurry, I didn't set up the drawings in a studio setting. Which makes me really want to get a super duper camera. But i dunno if I have the munnies for that >.< but it would make the photos so awesome! The image quality would be so clean! GAH!
I didn't have the energy to spotlight it like when I took my slides either. And I have to learn how to turn the date and time off on Bob (my little purple camera)

I got out of Hospital Saturday night and lemme tell you I feel fantastic!
I can swallow things, my throat isn't as swollen, my fevers have gone, it is fantastic!
On the whole however, Mono does make you very weak. I can stand up and move around, but it takes up alot of my energy so I can only go for so long. Though they've told me to move around so I don't get blood clots in my legs. Don't worry, thats not going to happen. I move around as much as I can whenever necessary. Everything feels great, except my spleen still feels like a bubble just underneath my ribcage, but thats normal when you have mono. It because the spleen is enlarged. It's not painful anymore though, so good signs! ^_^
Tomorrow I'm going to lay out what work hasn't been posted and get it photographed and up. (its all too big for the scanner) and when the stuff I sent in to the AP exam comes back, I'll post whatever is new in there as well.
I've been getting the urge to get a higher quality camera as of late. Something that'll take high resolution images of my work. I've realized that while slides are cool, retro, fun to handle and sort through, a digital portfolio is probably easier to use, not to mention theres alot less problems with developing. But I'm camera illiterate >.< I know there are high quality cameras that look like they would use film but they're actually digital, which then leads me to remember that using actual film can often be beneficial. and then I remember film can be expensive. maybe I should just stick with ignorant bliss and buy that camera Ashton Kutcher has given his face to. The one in the commercial where hes at a wedding and knocks over the champagne glasses. The Nikon D60. ... I'm a consumer whore.

Back in hospital again.
doc said I was really dehydrated. I'll be in 'till Saturday, but I think I'll be well enough to go home by then. My throat is feeling better and I'm getting some energy back. I think It'll be easier to sleep once I get back home in a decent bed with access to showers, which I have come to fall in absolute love with.

As of now I am officially a High School Graduate!
The last four years have been on the whole amazing, despite the bad, the good has certainly prevailed.
I have gone from wanting to be a kindergarten teacher to realizing I'd love to be an Illustrator, and have geared myself in that direction.
in four years I have met people, left them, forgotten names, built close connections, fallen into love, missed people, welcomed them back, and ultimately hope to stay as connected to them as I can.

Of course, I've had my high school prom. It was really loads of fun, and I danced for about four hours. My feet are still sore from it all. Barefoot on a hard dance floor can kill you after abit, but it was loads of fun.

Over the Summer, I'll be working, pulling together as much money as i can to help with college. I'll keep sketching to keep my skills sharp and my ideas flowing. I'll be posting alot of work soon, now that It's all home again, except for the pieces I mailed to the AP exam. I'll post those when they come back to me.

For college, I'll be heading off to Portland, Maine. I love their facilities and their program looks wonderful. Plus the state is friggin gorgeous! I'll be bringing my brand new MacBook Pro with me. His name is Dorian. I'll put together a persona for him soon.

I got there really early for the thursday show with my friend Karla, so I also got to see Drive By and Billy Talent. My apologies to the opener for the opener, I can't remember your name. sorry.

I managed to get about two people away from the barrier, so I could see the entire band perfectly front and center, and at that closeness, the mosh pitters keep you braced, and luckily my high top shoes kept my ankles from rolling. They gave us free water, and I was tall enough to stretch up for air whenever I needed it. It helps when the people around you are 5'5" and you're 6' even.

A kid threw a karate kid headband onstage, and Gerard loved it so much he made sure the kid got a free t-shirt. The girl next to me chucked a voodoo bunny that Gerard scooped up the second it hit the ground, immediately running over to Frankie to show it to him XD

At one point, I got Gerard's attention with a "come hither" hand motion. He smiled, pointed to me and started copying it. He turned it into a guitar playing move. possibly the greatest moment of the night for me, just knowing I made eye contact with the man. He truly is brilliant. But truth be told, I love Bob the most, who hasn't had a haircut in awhile it seems. his hair was all over his face, and I almost wanted to throw my scrunchee up for him XD and I know I love my Chicago boys, can't help it, comes with the territory.

They Sang all the B-sides, and Karla almost cried of Joy when they started up Headfirst for Halos. Teenagers was the moment for me, and I really did enjoy the bit where the keyboardist sang. And Gerard in the dark singing cancer with just his cigarette glow was amazing. I noticed he refused to sing "Know that I will never marry" he let the crowd sing never marry while he looked over his wedding ring. That to me seemed infinetly romantic.

All in all the brilliance of it would make me brave the pit again. And Gerard's "I'm so smexay" poses are way funnier up close. I got a tour shirt and dad was awesome and bought Karla and I water bottles before picking us up. I drank two in a row in about 10 minutes. Dehydration can set in fast, I didn't want to risk that. I showered obsessively after getting soaked in the sweat of 40 other people in what could be the most violent group hug ever. And found a hole in the back of both my shirt layers o.O And could only untangle my hair under running water. Lesson Learned: Always put hair in a bun for shows.

Day after I trudged myself up for school, taking motrin for the various aches and pains that come with ebergy exhaustion and lifting crowd surfers around and generally having a fuckin amazing time.
I Loved every moment of the show, and I can't wait for the next album.
Good on ya boys, you all fuckin rock.

Finishing mailing things in to the college I want to go to, and I need to look at other ones too just in case I end up not liking the one I want when I go visit.

IHOP is wonderful as ever.
Trying to decide whether over the summer, I go back to regal, or try my luck at hot topic
My writing is really starting to pick up. I'm being overflowed with ideas for stories and characters just keep jumping out of my pen.

I haven't been sick enough to stay home since elementary school!

still, even with the sleep delay I've crashed for another round of 16 hours straight.

but i didn't feel fever, stuffiness or any flu symptoms
so I got out of bed and lethargically got dressed and together.

I couldn't find my Godsmack CDs
I couldn't find my gym uniform
I got dizzy
my body kicked in with a new dull throb of pain
next thing I know 7:00 had become 7:28

My mum started to call me in late
and I was standing by the secretary in my dining room
looking around
and I just burst in to tears.
my mum asked what was wrong.
But I didn't know.

I got called out and collapsed back into my bed
and slept for a second round of 8 hours.
Woke up worse for wear
and have been curled into my laptop since 1 pm.

I watched the Labyrinth
and ate a light lunch
checked messages as they came in
and was pretty much miserable all day long.

my abdomen still hurts
I still feel fatigued
my temperature is spiking and falling at random points
my head hurts
and I wanna cry again for no reason.

so I'm gunna try for another round of 8 hours
it is not good right now.
not good at all

We may still be ill tomorrow.

So I went to the doctor today.
Because my shoulder was hurting and I couldn't even turn my head.
and I hadn't even done anything.
No major injury
no impact or sport-related anything.
I just woke up
in pain.

SO I went to the doc.
and he did his x-ray thing.
and in less than a second found the problem.

I would also like to direct you to one very particular passage from the journal which states thusly:
Well, needless to say I screamed my voice into oblivion. and despite the ankle injury I probably did more "jumping" than any of the emo kids XD Plus I headbanged to the point where I can't move my neck very well XD

of course, at the time, I didn't know that
and assumed I was just sore from headbanging for the first time.
Now, this may also be from when I took that crowd surfer to the back of the head at Warped Tour.
but hey, who's counting.

Either way, said whiplash did something permanent to the vertebrae at the base of my neck. something like a bone-spur.
so now, every once in awhile
its gunna flare up and hurt

so I've got painkillers and physical therapy
again.

She came and sat down at the next table over as it was empty
and we talked for abit.
