So, I plan to make a fighting game alongside a few other people. The game will be exclusively online, dropping arcade mode and CPU opponents in favor of multiple unique online and offline versus modes.
The characters will all be superheroes, or super-powered people. We'd like to make every character and their powers as unique as possible, so we'll more than likely be avoiding the spandex-wearing types (Though there may be one or two, depending on how much we like them), and avoid common powers like invulnerability, flight, laser eyes, etc(Again, there could be an exception or two depending on how much we like the characters)
To enter, all you need is:
1) A name for the character. Both a birth name and a super hero/villain name. ie. Clark Kent/Superman
2) A description of the character's power, if it's not already obvious because of the name or the picture of the character.
3) Finally a picture of the character. This could be a design sheet, action pose, anything.

Optionally, you can include a description of the character (personality, etc.). The game won't have a story, but it would help with characterization in the animations.

Send entries to me in the form of a note. I'll share it with the other people on this project, and we'll decide the winners at a yet to be determined date depending on how much attention the contest gets.

Prizes: Top six entries will get their characters in the game.
Four runners up will have their characters sprited in the game's style.

Well, the game is called All-Star Showdown. It will feature 30 character from various games like Mario, Klonoa, and Pikachu, plus five custom-made characters. The game will also feature a custom battle system we call the Momentum System. Details on this system will be revealed at a later date.
We'd like to have some sort of demo at one point or another this summer, so keep your ears open for news.

And now I have to list ten interesting things about my art.

1. My cartoon-style is largely self-taught, without outside influence. At least up until recently, that is. I've started to pick things I like about other people's artwork and try to implant it into my own.

2. I am no good with traditional coloring media. It always looks like something a pre-schooler made. Got too reliant on computers, I guess.

3. I tend to never draw something the same way twice. It may be similar, but it's not exactly the same.

4. Pursuing art is something I decided to do on my own. In fact, in the beginning, my parents were against the idea.

5. I tried to do anime/manga style for a while, and if you look, you can still see it's influences on me.

6. I LOVE Looney Tunes. I like to think it shows a little through my art.

7. I love superheroes, too, and this tends to influence me when I come up with stories.

8. I used to be obsessed with dragons, and it's sorta spread into a general love of beasties, not to mention a love of drawing them. (Not all my beastie drawings find their way to DA, btw)

9. I can't draw females. Take a look in my gallery. There is nothing even resembling the female form in my gallery.

10. There is no 10. Go away. NOW.

And that's when I saw it. It's not very eye-catching, and I'm not really sure why I was drawn to it, but I was. The book was DeathNote.
So I read the back, it sounds interesting, so I buy it. I was expecting same-old-same-old manga... but boy, was I surprised. I loved the first book so much, I went out and bought the next two volumes that same day.
Anyway, for those who don't know, it's about a high school student named Light Yagami. Light's a genius. Top scores in the country, geared to go to the best college. Well, one day he finds a black notebook on the ground with the words "DeathNote" written across the front. He puts the book into his backpack, dismissing it as a mere prank of some sort. Later when he gets home, he examines the book further and finds instructions written on the inside cover.
"The human whose name is written in this note shall die."
Needless to say, Light was a little skeptical, until he decided to test it on a criminal he saw on the news. He sees nearly instant results.
Light decides to use the deathnote to change the world. To create a world of only people who decides to be good.
Needless to say, the climbing number of deaths among criminals catches the eye of the police, and they begin to search for this "Kira" that has been killing them off.

I swear, this is among some of the best stories I've ever read. It's so complex, so intelligent... this is the kind of story that I could only hope to write some day. Someday...

I might, but that's only if I can convince my parents to let me go to the art store... they're kinda iffy about letting me go since I tend to spend a lot of money on stuff that I often end up not using.

Alright. I'm gonna try to get the first couple of pages of bones done this weekend.

I need to do a 70-something frame animation for the animation club by thurdsday. I'm ripping my hair out at lack of drive.

I need to start writing Proffessor It(which i've recently renamed Doctor It as Professor doesn't make sense), but I can't because my mind won't work properly.

Maybe I'll make something up to be in that big thing happening in June for the Art academy at my school... hell...

But my brain has been thinking... oddly enough... and now it's got a new idea for a comic... I don't know how far I could roll with this, but I think I'll steal a moment of your time...

Pan view. Desert. Sunset.
Zoom in. Boy, late teens, sitting by campfire. Backpack lay closeby. Body wrapped with blanket for warmth. STomach grumbles.
Man walks up from surrounding desert. Asks to share campsite for the night. Introdcutions. Conversations. They say goodnight, and drift to sleep.
Rude awakening. Late night. Men with guns tries to take man away. Man pulls sword from backpack, and fights men off. Apologizes to boy, and says he's stuck with him now, "They definitely think you're my associate". Boy and man run off into night.



Just a scene that plays out very vividly in my mind. I like it. I might do a preview page or two to see how it looks on paper. Who knows? Maybe this idea will replace Doctor It on my priorities...


Oh, and if I'm not mistaken, tommorrow's valentine's day. Blah de-fuckin' blah.

The Chosen-
The year PA 28. 28 years ago, strange creatures called "Korals" climbed up from the Earth's crust, and using strange, almost unholy powers, systematically decimated the majority of the planet...
In the outlands, the surviving humans live by the Koral's laws. Beaten, abused, and enslaved. Some humans live in underground cities, known as "Utopias", away from the Korals, while hundreds more live in "Eden", a city where the Korals cannot enter.
Our story begins in one of these Utopias, with an orphan boy known only as "Hatch". Visiting a fortune teller one day, he discovers he is a chosen one, one of many who legends tell will rise to smite evils that plague humanity. With Alva, the fortune teller, he seeks out the other chosen, and take back the planet from the Korals.

Professor It-
Area 51. Famed alien research facility. Despite common belief, this military installment is dedicated to the sole purpose of defending the planet from invasion, and making sure the public does not know.
Professor Albert Itamis is a scientist studying alien mutations technology, and working to create the "perfect soldier" using this technology. By combing DNA from the world's greatest creatures, he hopes to create a being who can fight any and all alien attacks flawlessly.
One day, his dream comes true. After years of studying animal DNA, he has finally pointed out which parts of which animals DNA will create which trait. Using the DNA for a shark's hunting instinct, a spider's climbing powers, the speed of a cheetah, the mental capacity of a dolphin, and the intelligence of a human, The professor insuses a patchwork body using the alien device. The creature comes to life, but goes on a rampage. The monster destroys Professor Itamis' lab, kills his assistant, and causes a malfunction in the device. The device goes haywire, and zaps the professor in the head, burning his face to a blackened crisp.
He awakes weeks later in the base's hospital ward, face turned to black ash, and his body having gone throughb a rather violent and sudden evolution. Professor Itamis had become the very thing he was trying to create.

Superhero High-
James Hackstrum is an ordinary high school student, with an ordinary life. He's got friends, goes to football games, and lives a picturesque teenager's life.
But his parents are anything but ordinary. His parents are Captain Humongous and Miss Terra, the world famous super duo.
But James doesn't have powers. He's ordinary. But that doesn't stop his parents from enrolling him in the "Extra Special" classes at school.
Now James is a normal boy, trying to live a super life in a super school full of super freaks.


Those are my ideas... personally, I like the idea of Super Hero High, mostly because it's got a lighter tone than the other two. But, ah well. Any input would be appreciated.
