Then one guy was like, "Yo! You're working for my dad now, btch!"

And I was like, "uhhhh..."

And before I could think about it, I was dragged into a truck and was sent to work. Needless to say I've been seething with purpose since then.

I now work for a Master Electrician and his team who's currently working on 3 projects. He got a contract with Limited Brands (the company that owns Victoria secret and La Senza). One of the stores we're working on is Victoria Secret in the Eaton's center lol. 10'000 square ft property. Back-breaking work (not to mention all the blood shed caused by that fckin chicken-wire) but fun!

I've been longing to do something other than sit on my ass all day lol...all of a sudden BAM! Get off you're ass and make some money! Whoa! Depression is over! 'EFFIN SWEET!

Somehow it doesn't end there...

My "Master's" wife is a professional artist who was impressed with my stuff and was more impressed by my ability to "speak" art when teaching her kids how to draw a figure. So I got referenced at the Visual Arts Center and depending on how I present myself I might get a position as a teacher and open a program for Life Drawing, LOL!!! xD

As if T.A-ship wasn't enough last year. I get to deal with Life Drawing again for this summer and next summer. HAH! What the eff!? Where did all this come from!? I blame God Faith can only take you so far. But that's a different story! For all you aetheists out there who don't wanna hear it, hehe.

Anyways...aside from the overwhelming turn of events (I feel like I just hit rags to riches in 3 days) my art process will be extremely limited, so I'm gonna end up lurking every now and then. Be sure to post sht while I'm gone or I'm gonna destroy all of you with my pliers and steel-toed boots.

Since I didn't get what I wanted, my inspiration from useless video-game characters (particularly from a dying company) have transpired. However, that transpiration was more of a blessing-in-disguise since a new form of inspiration has aroused my attention.

Like a capricious Chaos God (a pun meant for Warhammer fans), I suddenly have a raging hard-on for miniatures and maquettes.

Let me rephrase that...or maybe not...since I don't know how to describe it in a more "Professional" manner. That or I just don't feel like it...'cause I don't really give a rats orifice.

That's right, my friends. I am taking my ideas to a different direction...

Well not entirely different, since digital painting is kinda like sculpting sculpy...or is it?

My primary inspiration here is definitely Warhammer. I've been a Warhammer fanatic since I was 14 (only 6 years in the past lol) but back then I didn't know anything about miniature art and never learned how to paint models properly, let alone building them. Now they've updated their designs and the newer models look fantastic! Also there's a new game out there called "Warmachine" which is basically like Warhammer 40k except it takes place in a different universe, time, and story.

I feel like I should've put some more thought process in the digitally painted submissions, I will submit the lineart for each entry that I've made once the top 25 have been picked. (I really dropped the ball on my 2nd entry and the 1st one started out as a test run...I didn't expect it to become popular within a matter of hours; Only to have learned that it was a mistake for me to colour it in coloured pencil)

I also believe that I've achieved my goal in uniting the C-Class with the star-classes (A and B). I didn't do this entirely on my own, however, but what matters is that the C-Class has finally been recognized. Thanks to the few remaining talents of our tight group, the C-Class has also gained peoples respect.

In order to keep our senses sharp, the "Grave-meister" has set up a workshop with us to keep ourselves busy.

There are three 2nd Year classes labeled from A-C. Each class has to pitch their own idea for a story we could work on for concept art. Since C Class (my class) has had alot of "casualties" over the past, our numbers are too little to pitch a story and work among ourselves, so we had to join either A or B class and work with their story.

So the Workshop is broken down like this:

*Come up with a brief story and pitch it over to the "Director"
*Get the story approved
*Create Concept Art based on the story

The Concept Art is broken down into these categories:

*Characters: Broken down into categories: Prime Character(s), Potential Character(s), Extras
*Props: Weaponry, Accessories, Artifacts
*Environment: Interior/Exterior, Layout Designs
*Vehicles
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a great way to pass time! It's not marked as a curriculum, but it's one of the most purposeful events I've had in my journey as an artist. This will require cohesive Teamwork and Communication, not to mention it'll look sweet in a resume. Also, adding the lesson's we've been getting through Acting Class and Layout, comming up with Stories and Concept Art have become so much fun.

There has also been talk that, if the project is successful, there is a chance that we will publish a book that represents the school as well as ourselves. I'm crossing my fingers on that and keep my excitement intact because only hard work will pay that off.

Most of my classmates, including myself, have "allied" ourselves to the A class because we prefer their story over the B class. Team A/C is cooking something real awesome, and like our good friend, Joe, says it's "Built for Damage!" The B class has a neat story as well, I can't wait to see what they produce!

I will try to post a few of what I'm going to contribute for this project. I will notify anyone who's interested in seeing the rest once the Blog is created.

On the other hand there's me...out of shape...disgustingly fatted up by the M.S.G foods I've been feeding on in College. I appreciate what I've been learning in the school. However, my physicality rails at the time spent sitting on my ass in front of a computer or sketchbook.

My Dilemma has cost me my mind...and with that came along progress slipping through my fingers. Because of my situation, I've not been able to finish the art challenges issued throughout the break. However I've got a few things that still needs scanning. My final piece for the -Thumbnail Challenge- is still under-construction and will be submitted late.

Henceforth I shall make a new oath to myself:

Despite the crap that we've all been through, we're just glad it's over and next semester promises a better time.

We've been issuing some digital painting challenges for the past few weeks and for the short break, Andre has issued a Challenge doing thumbnails to improve speed as well as ideas. Of course, not alot of people find thumbnails interesting to look at, but they do give out some nice ideas that can be appreciated and used for bigger concepts.

How's everyone doing? Great? Awwriiiiiiiiiight!

Anywho's, so far I've been in good terms with most courses...Despite the fact that I'm endlessly juggling my projects back and forth, I have a good feeling all will end well. I've actually learned some very important things about life this semester...I'm pretty sure there are some here that know what I'm talking about since most people that have added me, know me in person and study/work with me in the Department.

I think I'm doing well with keeping up with Deviant Posts as well...I dunno, what do you guys think? I'm gonna end up revising most of this stuff since I want them to look prestine for a portfolio (which means the recent crap that I've been sending are going to be resent the way I actually want them to look like!).

Well in all honesty I'm not an egoist and you can tell by looking at my art, I have nothing to be all High and Mighty about.

Let me explain to ya'll why I picked KingJoJohn as my DA name.

I didn't make it up, it was actually given to me by my friends in high school. In a small town full of caucasians, people tend to be hick-like and I was given the nickname JoJohn as a sign of respect (I think). During high school I was very fond of music and loved playing the drums, so I ended up playing for bands and eventually got "King" since drummers sit in "thrones" (They're actually called drum thrones, not a stool O_O I never knew that).

Eventually it came to a point where I was known as King JoJohn or "that drummer" in my town.

So for some reason I chose that for my DA name since I couldn't think of a cool name and using our real names online is apparently lame.

However, if it comes down to it, I'm going to make a new account with a "less egotistic name" if it means alot to those who think I'm a pompous ass.

I have to admitt this is the best week I've had in years. Barney and Graves did a fantastic job setting up the spirit week event. The entire department is now united, and everyone's each others buddy ^_^

It's a great up-start for the year to come. In addition to that, there were admirable professors that made it in pub night!

Zub, Todd, and Werner! It was great to see you three in the Hive

I can't believe I won one of Werner's 1999 paintings for the paper-plane throwing event. HA HA! That was awesome! I even won some Udon Comics with it for the scavenger hunt with Dylan and Anna! Sweet!!! I'll split the comics even, come monday.

Even though I might've made a fool out of myself with the others that drank that night, I'd say that week...was a week to remember...and despite the hangover making the typing sound louder than it's supposed to, I soldier on. xD

2nd year baby! Here we come! New lessons, new projects, new Professors (with the exception of Barney). Quite exciting!

Moving back to Toronto tomorow morning. But this time I'm living in Residence! Woot!

So far I've appreciated the things we've learned this year, the professors have been great! We learned a variety of interesting techniques and philosophy's as well as getting "sneak previews" of what it's like in the Animation/Arts Industry.

I feel as though I've actually accomplished something with art and it feels amazing. It also increased my arsenal of methods and styles. (I can take advantage of what I've learned and input it to my story! YAY!!!!)

Despite everything I've learned, I'm afraid I'm not entirely impressed with what I've been handing in for my projects. The main concern was that there "wasn't enough time to work 100% on any of the projects" that were given to us.

Then again...that goes with time management and it comes down to the fact that "my generation" is indeed, lazy. I've heard tales of what it was like years before and it's been proven that my class was a joke compared to the students before us. (On a minor note; out of the 14 projects given to us for each subject, roughly 3 or 4 of them actually coincided)

I will NOT make the same mistake this year comming up...it’s time to step-up or step-out!

So I've been training my thoughts as to how to apply this to my next assignments. True enough, being inspired lightens the load by ALOT! It brought me to the fact that we artists shouldn't be stressed about the work that we're doing. WE'RE DRAWING CARTOONS FOR FCKS SAKES!

So be free! Express! Create! Do the work! Get Money! YEEEEEE!!!

Okay so I'm getting too far ahead of myself with the money, but I'm just expressing myself on how I feel at the moment.

It's almost like a revelation, it's overwhelming...to the point of insanity...

During the break I'm finally gonna have some time to do some of my own art work instead of school projects.

I mean, it feels as though time just flies by and we never really get to appreciate what we've done. Assignments just keeps getting thrown at our faces and we just do them as quickly and as accurately as a human being can.

What sucks even more is the fact that we only get 1 week to finish each projects. Calculate the number of subjects we have and the time it takes to get through projects halfway. It boils down to only having 1-2 days to work on each project.

The worst case scenario are the projects that are due in 2 weeks get piled up with projects due in 1 week. Thus, doubling the work load for at least 1 week and slowly easing to less work for the next.

Not to mention that the only way to improve drawings are to go to Extra Life Drawing, which takes up about 1-2 hours of your time out of the studio.

I know this may sound like a rant, but it's how it is...

The funny part is, I'm actually starting to adapt to this kind of life-style. However, the other side of me is like..."Friends...parties...They're escaping my iron grip!" *sniffles*

On the other hand I'm quite content by the fact that I'm getting my work done well ahead of most people, there are still a crap ton of projects due next week though, so there's no such thing as a real break.



I'll try to upload more things from class since I never have time to work on my own stuff.
