Also to explain the last journal entry... I'm just gonna say this. The PNs are a bunch of failures that crash servers in SL (which is about as easy as waking up) while pretending to be /b/. Hence my smiley abuse at the last journal when I found out he was a devART furry... It's just poetic irony. I still hate furries and most of you.

Also devART needs a section for maps and mods of popular videogames... anyone know if there would be a category for that? We seriously need some sort of user-made public gallery system or something. I've been making some TF2 maps, nothing much to show just yet.

I'm also considering dumping this account, I've done way too many embarrasing things over the past few years on this account. Not to mention my little cult of fangirls that I still have apparantly. Let's just say this, I've seen some of their accounts mentioned on 420chan's /i/. Don't know if any trolling resulted from it.

Here's the thread of which started the stupidity. I found said romance artwork stupid... so I wrote a legitimate critique - aka nerdrage. I don't care, call it nerdrage. I just don't like crappy romance artwork. I posted my critique on the image comments - I believe this isn't illegal. She didn't use the "Disable comments" or "Discourage criticism" options... which are stupid anyway, but I'll save that for DFYo4.

I'd like you to look specifically at their comments. Lots of abused 4chan memes abound. WAY TO FAIL.

But what I really hate is the hypocrisy. They're allowed to draw crappy pairing art, but I'm not allowed to make comments and critiques? They didn't even say "don't critique", but suddently I make a negative comment and now I'm getting their whole hugbox responding to my initial comment - yes, *Genolover posted a journal - a veritable call to action against those who don't like your art.

I find this almost... amusing. Almost. DevianTART advertizes itself as an artistic community... but it's not. At best it's a giant online hugbox for romance artists and furries, where they can band together to collectively re-enforce their fandom in one giant feedback loop. At worst it's SERIOUS BUSINESS - nothing can be criticized because everything is SERIOUS.

I'm not attacking her right to post shitty Earthbound romance art. I'm attacking her shitty Earthbound romance art, in the least offensive way I know how - and being treated like I just blew up a building. The worst I did was assume she hadn't played Earthbound - that just made me look stupid in retrospect - because it's always assumed that commenters have intimate knowledge of your life.

I'm sure Deviant"ART" used to be cool, but them animefags creeped in and Snape killed Dumbledore -- I mean, $spyed sacked °jark. The amount of artistic talent is extremely low on deviant"ART", to the point where even the "daily deviations" have ended up to be either *messa's work, or weeaboo crap, which is the same thing. While it is true that the daily deviations have higher quality artwork than the other trash on the site, it's not in any way more enjoyable. If you don't like weeaboo anime fan crap, then you're out of sync with the rest of the Deviant"ART" community. Even Pixel Art is going down the tubes, because people have forgotten the definition of Pixel Art; hint it's not MSpaint drawings. It's drawings made meticulously, pixel by pixel, like how they are drawn in videogames. A good pixel art is drawn by hand; usually only with the pencil and bucket-fill tools; and is NOT antialiased.

Not to mention, there's still creepy fetishes. 14 year old girls with the hots for Jack Spicer, but not just Jack Spicer, but Jack Spicer in erotic poses, naked, with usually either Yugi, Danny Phantom, or --- I'm just going to stop proving Rule 34 right now. Again, Mature Content filter doesn't work when Mature Content flag isn't used. The mods and admins of deviant"ART" refuse to do any flagging; even daily deviations can (or used to) have incorrect Mature Content flags.

Hello friends, enemies, and anime fans with weird fetishes I dare not repeat on daytime television. You may not remember me (I've been boycotting this site for more than a year now) but I remember you. And believe me, I wish I could forget. But I cant, just like trying to forget Powerpuff Girls Z. Seriously. I need to build a panic room just so I have somewhere that anime can't get me.

In this journal entry I plan to be even more controvertial than the last one by doing the only thing that will piss a devArter off (other than misattribution): badmouthing everyone. Even Beeflord was offended by the last one, and I don't plan on stopping.

The first order of business is to ask: How come _every_ cartoon I like has some creepy fangirl on this site with a fetish for it? Xiaolin Showdown? Check. Bobobo? Obviously. Billy and Mandy? Hrm... no check yet, but a quick search should find some sick, twisted fantasy of a 12-year-old valley girl. Seriously. Do you anime fans even like the cartoons, or just have a cute/cartoon fetish? I'm talking to you here. I wanna see you reply: Do you actually like the plot and/or storyline or do you just like sexually-ambiguous men. Or gay ones.

Now, this is Deviously Flipping Youoff 2 so I have to do some actual FLIPPING YOU OFF.

I feel a disturbance in the Force. As if a million Weekly Shonen Jump subscriptions screamed out in fear and then were suddently cancelled. Oh wait, it's just Naruto sucking as usual. You know, I don't have to like the anime everyone likes; and you don't have to like Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy and Weird Al. However, when Devart says that they're a breeding ground for new artists, they fail to mention that you have to actually SIFT through all that art to get to the good stuff. I'm suprised I even found Beefy on this thing.

Clearing out the message center is very hard. There's no "Trash everything" button, and the "Clear All" checkboxes don't work. I have about 1,108 journals right now, and I click the Clear All 1108 button and press Remove All. The journals disappar. I do the same with the polls, and it pops up a "You have more polls" message, prompting me to reload the message center. Fine. Reloaded and woo! 1,083 new Journals appear - Clear All just clears what's on the screen! This is suboptimal. I scuttle over to the devwatch tab in order to clear that out. At least that works. But seriously, is clearing out your messages in one click a subscriber-only feature? I never renewed mine, so I don't know. Eventually at 958 journals, the thing just doesn't load anymore of 'em, and says I have no new messages. Great. Now to clear out my 'friend' list.

Found the friendlist page. Apparantly, you have to watch someone to access the list. Dumb design. Oh well, at least i'm on the page. and... DANG look at all these n00bs. I really don't get why it's called a friendslist. Half the guys on this page I don't even know and probably only favorited over one piece of artwork. Some of them I just favorited because I liked their flippin icons. Not an optimal situation, but it's an ID-10-T error. At the end, I go down from about 50-75 "friends" to a core list of 8 true friends: Beeflord, Lustelle, Jark, Keiross, LegendaryFrog, Matt Wilson, Pagelord, and Uuklay. That _should mean_ no more inbox overloads like last time. Now to clean out yon free pass-em-out favorites. That's a whole 'nother article altogether.

I love deviantArt: The utter lack of 'community', the endless amounts of homosexual drawings in my eternally-filling message box, the constant admin firings, the japanophiliacs whom thinks that only good things come from Japan, dub bashers, pages that take 60 or more seconds to load (I checked with fasterfox.), subscriber account ads everywhere, the utter lack of any compelling subscriber features, the fact that large thumbnails and large amounts of results per page is actually worse than normal because of yaoi, yaoi, the fact that no one actually reads whatever you post because of all the yaoi noise, no voting system (e.g. NG's voting system), absolute shit all over the place, the fact that the clear all button doesnt work forcing me to go through extra amounts of homosexuality, the inability to maintain any moral standard, explicit adult content gets daily 'deviation' over better, non-explicit work, no Bobobo fans, etc. Basically deviantArt is everything I've always not wanted: a giant gay men orgy on top of me.

In short, deviantART is the worst website I ever visited, and to think I once ended up visiting it daily. Seriously, you guys are a bunch of assholes who cant draw for shit, use shitty adobe products, draw the same shit you see on TV, and generally FANFIC SUCKS, FANART SUCKS, and WHY THE HELL MUST YOU WRITE FANFIC OF YOU HAVING GAY SEX WITH SAKURA OF NARUTO?!?!?!

I am currently writing this from my new compact keyboard and gyration mouse combo I just picked up at Best Buy. It's an interesting thing - the mouse, that is. It's a gyration/optical wireless mouse: you can control it with your wrist, via an onboard gyration system thing. Alternatively, you can use it as a normal optical mouse, whatever floats your boat.

Installation was pretty easy, my Linux system used the mouse and keyboard the moment I hooked up the reciever. W00tness. I'm keeping the other mouse attached, just in case.

my shift keys arent working. this sucks. hopefully mom will get a replacement at work, or we go to best buy. i know it's not linux doing this, because i tried it on a different OS and it still didnt work, so it's some sort of bug in my keyboard. i cleaned it. didnt work. i also noticed that if i press two shift keys and q or z [not both], i get qz...

in other news, my brother burned his middle finger in the shingle fire we had yesterday. so he has a mound of paper towels and ice around it. everywhere he goes, he middle fingers people [exclamation mark]

EDIT: My mom found a keyboard at her work. It's not the best keyboard, but it works. It's one of those old PS/2 port keyboards. I'm gonna have to get used to the keyboard layout - the right shift key is a little smaller than usual. But other than that, I'm happy right now.

I also realized that getting to my actual tower to upgrade it or plug stuff into it... is... HELL!!!!!

What can I say? This is a very good deviant. The B.A.P. webcomic alone is good, especially the clever usage of Yu-Gi-Oh! characters as parody. And a rarity - an infinite-canvas comic that's easy-to-read and doesnt have excessive amounts of deadspace.

So... Anyway, I've begun to finally use my FicWad account's rating points and actually RATE some stories. It's a pretty intuitive system. You click the rate button, and you're given a list of adjectives, some of them good, others bad. You click on one of them to rate it. It will also tell you that another user rated it this way, and ask you to MetaRate it Fair or Unfair. It's a very large step up from FF.net's 'rating' system (of course anything is a step up from no real feedback or filter system). People have a limited amount of rate points, refilled each week according to their Karma. Sounds like SlashDot? Yup, you got it.

Plus, they dont ban scriptfic there.

As I type, I am unpacking the new graphics card.

Basically, here's how I did it:

First, I unpacked the card from the insane amount of packaging that the eBayer who I bought it from packed it in. I was relieved he used 3 layers of packaging (counting the anti-static bag) as I had nightmares of USPS postal workers stabbing at the thing intentionally trying to break whatever's inside.

Well, getting it in was harder. The card came with a fan over the GPU, so it wouldnt fit unless I removed the card under it. That means no more modem. We (me and my dad) finally installed it, and also did a through de-dusting. You wont believe how much dust ends up in a computer, in only 6 months since the last upgrade I did.

From there it was struggling with the software. Linux booted fine and all, but getting X to use both monitors was a problem. Eventually, I decided to give up on the Free Software 'nv' driver. Instead I used the proprietary, but official (and 3D-supporting) 'nvidia' driver. After some wrangling around with XF86-Config, I now have two monitors, with the ability to move stuff between the two. It's WIDE! Fortunatly, GDM and GNOME know how to communicate with Xinerama, so it didnt do any crazy stuff such as maximizing windows between two screens.

My only problem with it is now sometimes i'll over-shoot a scrollbar on Firefox on the left screen and end up clicking on the right screen. This is solved by shoving Firefox to the right.

Well, school has been out for high schoolers for a while, but today was the last official day for everyone else, which is why I decided to do the customary playing of the 'School's Out' song. Unfortunatly, I couldnt find the file this year!

So, I got a little more devious. Got out the document shredder and the school calendar, ripped out all the pages and started shredding. I discovered that school calendars are somehow made of heavier paperstock than your average document, so I fed them in one-at-a-time instead of five-at-a-time.

You know, I've been thinking about re-drawing Cover 1 and Pages 1-1 through 1-8. The reason why is that the high-resolution or vector source files do not exist for those pages. As such, Issue 1 cannot be printed until the source files are re-created. The current pages posted are of an inadequate resolution as most print works are 180-600dpi (dots per inch) while most monitors are 70-100dpi. Thus, if I were to print out Issue 1 using the web versions, the output would be pixellated and generally unsuitable. Thus I need to re-draw: Cover 1 and Page 1-1 through Page 1-8.

My question is, do you care?

Well, I woke up today, to see my cable modem on the fritz. I had all I could stand, so I called up Cablevision customer support. After going through many tests, I finally decided that it was our hardware malfunctioning. I was about to see if I could swap out the cable modem for a newer model (mine is 5+ years old) when I decided to remove the splitter between the modem and my TV card. I plugged the modem directly into the white cable, and instantly got a signal.

I guess it was a Devious Cable Splitter instead of a Devious Cable Modem that was giving me problems.

At least there wont be any more 'omega age 1-xx IS LATE' posts.

If you are checking my gallery, you might have noticed that around 24 deviations are missing. More specifically, these are everything done in MSPaint except the original Mike and Mr. Walker character profiles and a fanart I did for PF4S. You'll also notice that it's all fanart and some fanfics as well. I'm putting these into Deviation Storage. The reasons for this are -fold:

1. Fanart is a copyright violation. There's no getting around this fact. Copyright owners have the authority to control so-called 'derivitive works'. Derivitive works are basically ANYTHING based off another work, except for parody and reviews, which are covered by a woefully underpowered exception known as fair use.
2. The deviations sucked. Okay, so I cant actually SHOW you the deviations anymore, but it should still be in the Google caches as of time of writing (05-31-05). Do a google search for 'site:kirbymeister.deviantart.com gallery' and load the cached version. These were done, again, before I knew how to properly use the programs GIMP and Inkscape.
3. Possible policy violations. One of them was a hand-done trace and resize to wallpaper sizes. In a trial version of Flash.

Issue number one is what I'm most concerned about right now. It's becoming increasingly obvious that there is money in suing fanartists and fanfictionists. I'm sure you know ALL ABOUT how FOX once started a legal campaign against Futurama fansites. You may think it's stupid and idiotic, however, the constitution is a 250+ year old document and most copyright law is based in a 1950's world where copying is analog only and communication was hard to spread as fast as I can today. Thus, the stark simulaneous realization of both a massive communications network (Internet) and a system of making perfect copies of information (Computers and Digitization) has shocked copyright lawyers and polarized the community. The ones for control are working for big corporations while the ones for Freedom are preaching on blogs and the who-knows what. Fanfiction has little caselaw for or against it, and a hardlined treatement of copyright law would suggest that it's illegal.

Of course, it is perfectly legal to make fanfiction or fanart of Omega Age (even sell it, you eBay jackers) as long as you adhere to the license. Of course, no-one really has so far, and I dont blame them, this stuff is pretty hard to comprehend.

Looks like the new SA (subscription agreement) has gotten people in a conniption. One person sent the SA to a copyright lawyer, who told her that it was too many rights (although, these guys wouldnt advise you to use dA in the first place because you cant make money from it) given to dA. Another thought that dA was claiming copyright, and asking for CC licensing... which wouldnt make sense since a CC license and the submission agreement are two seperate legal documents. And the submission agreement isnt going to have dA taking your works - they only maintain the right to deliver content.

If you have a gameboy, GO OUT AND BUY SUPERSTAR SAGA. NOW. It's one of the best RPGs out there, and one of the funniest (one of the main characters, Fawful, constantly says "I HAVE FURY!"... obviously to make his dialog funner) as well.

That was great. Hartman has done some crazy stuff here. And I got it all with digital quality and sound. Heh. Actually, it's from an analog source and I dont have any denoiser to fiddle with. Either way...

That ruled. It seems Hartman's been influenced by many sources. That ghost dog? Reminds me of the ghost dog we used on oldDPMB RPs. Especially that 'invisible dog doo' joke. After spending tons of time in the Inuyasha Fandom, I realize a lot of the references now. Think of it for a second, Danny is clearly modeled after Inuyasha, Tucker after that pervert-monk Miroku - - - but toned down a lot - - - Sam... I dont know. They didnt have goths in the 13th century, now did they? The bullies are like ... okay... i'll stop now.

Anyway, today Hartman transformed a one-ep non-main character into a protagonist that will probably make more appearances than the person who gave her ghost-hunting weaponry, Vlad Plasmius. Seriously, when I first read the synopsys for SoG, I was expecting a new kid. Then I read

's theory, but I still thought Valerie was some new kid with ghost-hunting ability. Mostly since I doubt fan theories and categorize them in the NOT CANON section of my brain. Next to all those fanfics involving Inuyasha, Kagome, Danny, Timmy, Frylock, and Spongebob in a slash six-some. Actually it's 5/6ths slash, Kagome is a girl. Still, CRAP i'm on a tan() again!
