        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ How is it May already<br /><br />So A-kon finally finished sending out Artist Alley confirmations last night, but unfortunately, my hotelmates were not among those that got in, so I'm out a room for the con at the moment. Who did get in? You guys got space for one more? ;__; I'd really like to stay in the Hilton Anatole if possible. I'm not a big fan of needing to go back and forth from the con hotel and somewhere else, especially since I hear parking is going to be a huge ordeal at the new hotel this year. The Doubletree is apparently on the same block as the Anatole, so that's cool too? I'll be keeping most of my stuff in AA, so I won't take up a lot ]]></media:text>

It's 8200+ words long, but only the last two sections are really important. The tl;dr version is that Aki Con is a shady business that doesn't really care about its customers, and I hope people think twice before supporting them in the future.<br /><br />I also finished my IKKiCON report, which is far less drama-filled, but still manages to be 4000+ words. I think IKKiCON is the convention I've gone to the most number of times (3 as an artist, 4 total). The news article is hilariously vague about the details of commissioner/artist interactions and how the whole thing works, but the whole thing screams terrible anyway.<br /><br />In the first place, 20% taken off the top is outrageous. There isn't even a better percentage for premium subscribers (though let's be honest, the "better" rates subbers get on prints are still outrageous).         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ The real New Years is Monday<br /><br />WHY HELLO.<br /><br />I finished my super late IKKiCON. It is somewhat shorter than usual at 3,500 words, lol. I just couldn't remember as much since I waited so long to write it. I updated the front page of my dA and the conventions page of my website with my tentative convention schedule for 2012, which is hilariously still filled with Texas cons. If things go as planned, I'll be back in the south for Comicpalooza, A-kon, and IKKiCON again.<br /><br />I'll also be looking more into getting some stuff into the art shows at cons I can't attend though.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ 8 pg oneshot starts Monday!<br /><br />If you remember, last year, I promised I'd draw a 24 page comic in the month of October as a sort of make-up for not really being able to do 24hr Comic Day. The resulting comic was The Z Train.<br /><br />This year, still not really in a position to attempt 24hr Comic Day, I wanted to do the same thing, but I don't think it's really gonna work out. The story I was going to do is written (let's call it "DCBH" for now), but I want to do a better job with the pages than I could in the two weeks of October I'd have had when I finished it.<br /><br />So instead, I'm going to re-tone/clean-up an 8 page comic I drew for class in March 2010  ]]></media:text>

It is very tl;dr at 6400+ words, but I felt it necessary to report on a lot of issues and drama in addition to my normal recounting of events.<br /><br />The short version is that I had a good time, but this was in spite of everything that the convention and hotel threw at me, and I do feel that I was very, very luck to have had a relatively okay experience overall.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ I don't want them; do you?<br /><br />I'm still trying to get rid of as much excess stuff as I can, and I really, aside from the boring things like clothes and (way too many) messenger bags, the only things I own are 1) toys, 2) art supplies, and 3) art. The last post was mostly selling toys. I think I sold most of my excess art supplies before I moved out of Savannah, but I haven't really gone digging through that yet. I am running out of shelf space though, so I think it would be fantastic if I could get rid of some of my old art... including tons and tons of inked lineart for commissions that the commissioner didn't want mailed to them, the original ]]></media:text>

I had the AO one written in the week after the con, but wasn't able to get to the DHC one until today because some crazy shenanigans hit a day and a half after the con and took over my schedule for two insane weeks.<br /><br />During those two weeks, I closed commissions. I had taken two classes in Japan, Cartooning and the general Sequential Arts in Tokyo class. For the latter, I did an eight page comic entitled &#29436;&#26469;&#20102; (the wolves are here) which really had nothing to do with Japan other than having some generic Asian elements and a stereotypically named Japanese protagonist. The problem with the gigantic side menu is also that I always feel compelled to make entries long enough so that the menu does not seem disproportionately long even though it is.<br /><br />In any case, my dA subscription crisis has since been averted, though I still need to finish up my end of that. Most importantly, it's no longer just a lame portal, and I've finally integrated the portfolio with the main of my site, so the gallery is super-pruned and will function as a portfolio. I know the website is kind of just an auxiliary thing to my watchers here, but I'm really happy with the rehaul. It makes me feel more secure to have an up-to-date website. It took a bit longer than I expected, but it was an interesting project. I learned many things! ...Namely that I am suck at drawing large, leathery mammals like elephants, rhinos, hippos, and manatees. I already knew I liked drawing birds, but I reaaaaaaaally like drawing birds. XD I kind of wish there was a 100 Bird Challenge so I could go do that, but I'm too lazy to go look up a hundred different bird species on my own. :< Dinosaurs and reptiles are also fun, if kind of difficult. Today, I booked our hotel and confirmed a series of other technical details, but all around, it looks like we're pretty much good to go. I still have a ton of leftover stuff from AWA, so I don't think I'll be making any new prints. I am hoping to have more Pokemon stuff though, namely the full set of Eeveelutions and possibly some Kanto legendaries and Jhoto starters... The last time this happened, it was because someone had featured this piece in one of dA's monthly news features, but the news section has since been collapsed into something less prominent so I wasn't expecting anything like it to happen again.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ banshee<br /><br />I made a minicomic for class. It's about a little girl that can see and talk to banshees. The story's about ten pages long and features guest art by :devjelly-fish: and :devdarkrhapsody:. I'm thinking of selling them for $2 plus shipping ($1 within the US). I don't have the copies I made with me at the moment though, so right now, this is just to test for interest. The soonest I'd be able to take payment and mail anything out is the first week of January.<br /><br />So, uh... lemme know if you'd be interested in buying this?<br /><br />I want to make another, possibly longer, minicomic over December, but I'm not really sure what to make one of right now ]]></media:text>
