Greetings, my fellow deviants. It's been awhile, hasn't it? This semester has been flying by, and I've been super busy...classes have been very demanding, and I've been a lot more time getting into tabletop gaming and boffing...I've been doing a fair amount of photography work, actually, but it's all in film, and I haven't really had the time to print outside of what I need for class assignments. I haven't gotten my last project back yet either, so I don't have anything to show for that yet...

In light of my lack of recent postings, I'm doing some digging through the archives and pulling out stuff that I never got around to processing, and I intend to do some posting here in the coming week, seeing as I actually have some time to do it tonight! So, keep an eye open for that.

Hello, everyone! My contract is officially done, and I'm back in the game here...I'd like to thank everyone for the support while I've been away. I've gotten a TON more views than I expected while being completely inactive, which is very exciting. I'm starting to become a lot more active with my photography, so hopefully posts will be happening more often this year.

I have a gallery showing at UWGB in a few weeks that I am absolutely NOT ready for...so, wish me luck there.

I've also got to finish editing my brother's senior portraits, and I've got two potential commissioned shoots in the works in the coming weeks. I'm going to be looking into starting up my own website this semester, so keep an eye out for that as well.

My summer has been FANTASTIC, and I hope you all had a great time as well. For those who I am watching, I'm sorry, but I won't be able to look at all your deviations. There are over 600 of them, and I really don't have that kind of time. But I'll at least browse through them.

So, I feel the need to apologize for my lack of activity recently. This semester really got away from me, and I didn't get nearly as much quality work done as I would have liked. I recently posted two of my more major works from my intro drawing class...as of Friday, I'll have my portfolio back for the semester, and then I'll be able to post my last major drawing. I am very excited about it, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

I've got a concept for a diptych (potentially a polyptych, not sure yet) in the works that I am starting taking images for this week Thursday. I'm still not 100% confident that I'll be able to make it work the way I want it to, but I've got high hopes for this. There's a fair chance that you won't see end results until the end of the summer, as I'll probably get really really picky about post-work and number of images, etc etc. We'll see where that ends up. I've also got some senior portrait shoots coming up, so hopefully I'll be able to get some results from that as well.

In the meantime, though, you can probably expect a continuation of the lack of activity...as of June 7th, I will be running off to be a camp counselor at my old girl scout camp, and will probably be out of contact for the most part until August. Despite the fact that I'll desperately miss everyone that I have grown accustomed to having around me, I'm excited about it. It'll be a whole new experience, and it'll be nice to have a fresh start for the summer. Something totally and utterly new to invest my energy into. ^_^

But until then, I hope you all are having a fantastic May so far!

This is very exciting to me...I'm starting to get to the point where I'm feeling a lot more confident in my work, and less shy about trying to promote it. If I had more time, maybe I could actually take some goddamn pictures. x_o

Anyway, I'm working on a couple of sketches right now, as well as a couple of photo edits...I'll try and post *something* by the end of next week, but I can't make any promises...I have a crap-ton of homework this week (two exams on thursday! augh!) and next week is spring break, which means that friends are coming home. Also, we have a small trip planned that I am very excited about. So, we'll see what I've got time for.

I'm a week into the spring semester, and so far, so good...unfortunately, I'm not in photo II like I wanted to be, but I am in intro drawing instead! So you may be seeing some random drawing uploads...and I've also got a couple of things from last semester that I never got around to posting, so one of these days I'll get around to that. This is gonna be another busy semester for me, but I will do my best. ^_^

At this point, I am really very excited for spring...why? Because I have several concepts for photo shoots that I really want to do, but they're going to require warm weather so that my models don't freeze to death in the things I want to dress them in. ^_^; However, I do have one idea that for winter that I still want to do, but it will require something approximate to a miracle for it to actually happen...given that I want it to be snowing (and not just snowing, mind you, but the fluffy, gently-falling type of snow), and I want Aaron to be my model.

Aaron and I are both very busy people. The chances of us both being available at a point when it's snowing that nicely (which it doesn't often do, because it's too damn cold most of the time) are slim to none. However, I am holding out hope. But, snow or not, I'll probably be doing another photoshoot with Aaron at some point this semester...simply because he rocks as a model, though he insists that he deserves no credit whatsoever. Silly boy. ^_^;

Also, I'm kind of thinking that I'd like to do some modeling in the near future...yes, I'm one of those rare photographers that enjoys being in front of the camera just as much as being behind it.

If my roommate and I ever find an afternoon where we're both available, I'll probably do one with her...otherwise, *nohbdyshome, you feeling up for a photo day?

Totally unrelated: is anyone else TOTALLY pumped about Watchmen?!?!?!

I told him that I liked to do portraits and to just go out and find interesting things to take pictures of, simply because I enjoy taking everyday sights and everyday people and extracting their beauty for others to better understand.

Good news also is that I've got a shoot coming up with a friend from church, and I do believe that she will be perfect for it.

Date hasn't been set, though, and I'm not sure if I want to go downtown or to Sunset Park...we'll see. It's gonna be a few weeks before I can get back to Appleton anyway, so who knows when I'll actually get around to creating this image.

Until then, it will sit in my brain and drive me CRAZY.

I've always had a pretty muscular build. It's just my body type...if I work out consistently, I end up looking kind of masculine. ^_^; My calves have always been particularly defined in comparison to the rest of my body.

But anyway. I was walking back to my apartment this morning when I kind of tripped on raised part of the sidewalk, right? And I almost fell, but then my entire other leg just kind of flexed, and I was standing up straight again with practically no effort.

So, I started thinking, and...maybe my muscular legs are a result of years of repeatedly saving myself from smashing my face into the pavement?

I dunno. Just a little random tidbit from my brain. ^.^

Today, I did another shoot with the ever-fabulous Aaron. And I got some goooood results.

I spent the last five days at Lifest, one of the biggest Christian music festivals in the Midwest. 'Twas an epic time. If you haven't heard of/listened to The Myriad yet, LOOK THEM UP. Their amazingness knows no bounds. I'm STILL geeking about their show, and it was three days ago.

Spent some time this morning trying to get some shots of hummingbirds, but they successfully evaded me...sneaky little buggers.

How is it that I see crappy half-assed naruto fanarts on the "newest" page proudly marked "COMMISSION!!!!!", and at the same time I see legitimately awesome artists pulling down their commission prices in hopes that someone will get one so that they can eat/pay rent/buy gas to go to a networking event?

Right now, I'm pretty happy, because I found out today that I got a $2400 scholarship from my dad's employer. I also just saw Juno for the first time, which was an awesome movie.

But at the same time, I have to work tomorrow morning, and I still have another week of classes to endure. And I also had another photo shoot scheduled with Aaron tomorrow, but it's looking like we're gonna get rained out, which is highly depressing. The past two weeks have been jam-packed with things to do, and my creative energies are absolutely begging for an outlet.

::sigh::

Summer is so close, I can taste it.

And...it is bittersweet.

And I don't know how I feel about that.

I had plans to go out and do some random shooting in the arboretum yesterday, but my friend wanted to go along and she was busy, so I put it off. We're planning on going today, but it's supposed to storm today, so we'll see how that goes.

If it does storm today, I won't get out until next week, with work and stuff.

Also, I got the new Flogging Molly album, Float. Good stuff. Definitely recommend it.

Heck, I recommend pretty much anything Flogging Molly. They make me smile.

Two hours and 176 shots later, I had what we both concluded was a very successful batch of photos.

I'm currently uploading my favorites to my Flickr account, which I'll link to in a moment...I will be uploading selected works to dA once I'm finished uploading the sets I'm currently working on.

It was a good day for photography, and Aaron was a fantastic subject. He's very photogenic, for one (though he will deny this). He has a very beautiful facial structure. It's very sharp and angular--it's the kind of face I'd like to draw, because it'd be easier to see when I'd made a mistake.

I am very happy. Today was indeed a very good day.

I've got two rolls of film to develop once I'm home, so I should be getting new stuff up by probably Tuesday or Wednesday. Though there's a chance that none of it will turn out. Because a LOT of light gets into the viewfinder when photographing snow, making it difficult to see the little flashing lights of my light meter.

Oh well. I think I did a decent job of guesstimating.
