Hey guys, deviants, men and women, children and cats, photographers and subjects, I'm back !
I'm going to update something, change a few things, post some photos, but 99% I'll move to another community: CargoCollective, since I'll have my own page there, and it's way more professional.
I couldn't put my DeviantArt link in the visiting card, it didn't sound very serious hehe

The NEWS:
-in the beginning, months and months ago, maybe one year, i started working as an assistant photographer.
I was almost convinced to go to a school but then I met this guy, Cesare Chimenti: he convinced me that the best way to become a photographer wasn't going to a school, but pledging myself, and working like hell with different photographers, searching for my own work and pursuing your own projects.
and that's what i did
i learned the basics of studio lighting, how to conduct negotiations with the client, improved a lot my photoshop abilities.
the first month was the toughest one and also the most rewarding.
without it the next job that was dropped right from the sky in my hands would have been impossible to handle.

i was with my ex girlfriend, loitering around, while this middle-aged man, dressed like a penguin, strolled by and strafed me with a sense of recognition.
i stopped him, "hey! you!" and after five secs he said "I know you! but who are you!?"
it happened to be a very important guy, the curator of a lot of archaeological exhibitions in Milan and province, and one of the most important numismatic in Europe. I had met him at some event, exhibition or party around but never actually talked to him.
He asked me how were things doing: "do you still go to university? oh I see, and how come you quitted? what are you doing now? no way, nice one: that's exactly what I'm looking for!.." and he gave me his email: "we'll talk a bit more when we see again, write me tomorrow!"

this conversation led to a very nice work for the new wing of the Carlo Verri museum, that saw the printing works on may 16th, with a small book. I guess the run was around the 2500 copies, but it may be more, don't have a clue.
Plus the job's not over since the Wonderful Grand Big Book will embrace existence as soon as we (they) find the founds.
Maybe in two months or something I'll write some more about this and will have some bright news to share

---

I have to make a shower and go to a WorkShop.
Damn it, the wind is SO annoying today that I'll need a scarf to bike around..
See you all and may you have a Good Life

Guì

It came to my mind watching a deviation [[link] by [[link]

While thinking of how that deviation could be improved, I suddenly
thought: and what if I ask her to send me the raw photos, then I
make a couple of scraps and see what comes out.
Second thought: why not making an open contest?!

So, the contest:

the one who creates the best deviation starting from:

..1. a concept idea (like ciko's, or hmm.. let's see.. a silver spoon on
a cactus in a desert.. give meaning to it..!)
..2. a bunch of stock, raw photos to manipulate\compose to create
something meaningful, create something that's not just the sum of
the photos, but yet something *new*

wins (what is to be decided )

---

I also thought this as a *cooperation* rather then a competition
between the artists: from the same material we could share the yield
of a ton of different artistic minds!

Please, contact me both to tell me
"geez, I'm doing it!!"
or
"this is definitely a bad idea.."

Tell everybody, if you think we can work something good out of this!
