I haven't been around DA a lot lately, I know.  Nor have I been working on my many trade/prize/gift responsibilities, though I haven't forgotten them.  I mentioned some tough life things happening a little while back, and the truth is, they've advanced a bit.  The short of it, is that my partner of four years needs a liver transplant.

Getting back into the swing of things.  Hacking away at the to do list, working on great paying commissions, and having fun on my current personal projects.

Currently, my sanity is being saved by a new anime I'm watching. I've fallen in love with Ookiku Furikabutte. (Oofuri, for short, "Big Windup" for English.) It's sweet, interesting, and dramatic, and 32 episodes later I am still not bored. Which is way more than I can say for ten minutes of actual baseball.

I love it so much, I wrote a review in the hopes of spurring others on to giving it a try.  Read my review here:

Update 2:
I guess, in the end, I'm not all that disturbed about the removal of the piece.  The terms clearly say you cannot show an underage character with any nudity, and that you are not permitted to "make them older" in order for it to be okay. Fine. What may be okay elsewhere is simply not allowed on Deviant Art. I can comply.

I just feel really, REALLY weird having been accused of creating "underage erotica."  I'm insulted! Okay! I said it. Jerks.

Finished my first Lady Gaga picture, hopefully the first of two in a set.  I want the second one to be as dark and wild as the first was sweet and serene.  However, every time I try to draw her screaming she just looks totally ridiculous.  I have to do a buttload of studies before I get this right.

Working hard on product images for our newborn design label. We had two great production meetings last week, and tonight we will have an image meeting.  Should be good, we hope to have a pattern and a spot image ready in two weeks.  Then... broaches and T-shirts!!!

I am still waiting to get internet in my home (updating from a cafe now), but I'm working on several paintings that I can't wait to post when they're done.  A little Sailor Moon, a little Utena, a little bit of original stuff.

I went trough all my saved drawings (five crates!) from as far back as 1998.  I threw away about three-quarters of them, as it was time, and there isn't storage space for them in my new apartment.  But I did find all my old Pokemon fanart to share with :devkurumi-lover:.

WOW! I am going to Japan at the end of March!!! Merry Christmas to me!  I'll be going for ten days.  Regrettably, this time over laps with anime Boston, so I won't be able to do the Artist Alley if I get in (apologies to those I wanted to meet and to Jshea who I was going to share a table with), however, JAPAN!  I am going to go to Abe no Bashi, go to old Akihabara, see temples and mountains, go to a hot spring, and do all the things I've wanted to do and never ever thought I would get an opportunity to!  Ghibli museum! Oh my goodness!

Working steadily towards product for Holiday Sales... making stuffed ninjas, dinosaur ornaments, Christmas cards and trying to finish up the birthstones soon enough to make prints.

I'm more than halfway done with the birthstones...only Amethyst, Diamond, Peridot, Sapphire, and Turquoise left.  So many blue stones!!!

So I leveled up tonight- my color mixing has really notched up.  Sometimes, as a painter, when you look at the work you're making you get chills- amazed that you have the power to create something so beautiful.

I know it sounds hokey, but seriously, it's the most amazing feeling.  I feel invincible.

I've just finished painting Aquamarine and I've inked Opal.  Way too late at night to scan, so that can happen tomorrow. My studio is finally clean, and I found some great abandoned Sailor Moon inks when I cleaned- Chibiusa, Usagi, Rei, and Ami. Can't wait to get cranking!  But!  I'm on vacation for four days this weekend... maybe I can ta ]]>
