◆When did you start drawing?
Um… I’ve always had pen to paper (or crayon to walls really. lulz), but I only seriously started considering it something other than a pastime in 4th grade.

◆Which hand do you use for drawing?
Right, mostly. Although I’ll occasionally sketch with my left.

◆Which is easier to draw - male or female?
Uhm… depends on the day; I started drawing females, then swapped over to males for a while (my pretty boi stage) and now I can draw both pretty well, although I have an easier time with poses w/ teh femmes.

◆Which is easier to draw - long hair or short hair?
Hm, neither, I suppose. I can draw long hair adequately, although I prefer to draw short hair cuz it means less colouring. ><

◆Is it easier to draw the head facing towards the right or the left?
Hm, again, neither, I guess. I generally draw with the view off somewhere to the right, but I’ve drawn full portraits of just a left view before.

◆Is it easier to draw the side view of the face or the front view?
Gods, front view totally. I always make the profile look like a cats face with this short forehead and the nose and lips in one vertical line. -_- I have to redo the sketches several more times than I usually do.

◆What do you have problems in drawing?
Lulz, hands. Hands, hands, hands. LOTS of hands. If I’m having a good day, I can do a passable one, and occasionally a good one, but most of the time, they sux0rs. I also have a problem with babies and animals in cartoonish, but not either in realism. And burly guys. Srsly, ask ~Sarutobi-Sasuke.

◆What do you like to draw?
MEN. Sexy, sexy men, with liberal amounts of and very little clothes. KD No, srsly, I like drawing sketching clothes and odd things. Anything odd.

◆Are you a traditional artist or a digital artist?
Both. I start most of my sketches, at least, in trad media and then scan it where I finish with colouring and enhancing the linework, but my scanner bit the dust, so I’m mostly doing completely digital and completely traditional ATM.

◆Where do you start drawing from?
Mmm… the eyes, usually. In traditional art, I start from the right eye/temple and continue to the left and down before going up. I’m not as good w/ cartoonish, so I have to do the whole schpeel of boxing things off.

◆What is your drawing habit that you are aware of?
>< Ha. Redoing my sketches. A lot. Like insane amounts. I did a drawing for *jameson9101322 and redid the sketch for almost a year. That and I’ll wander away from my works at the colouring stage. Sometimes I wont get back to a piece for a few months.

◆Any tips for coloring/shading?
Start with your medium tones and use at least one light and one dark in addition to your medium. Five colours is my usual: one medium which is my starting colour, a lighter or darker medium (dependant on the mood of the piece), your dark, your light and a highlite. If I need to, I’ll go back in with a near-black colour to deepen the shadows.

◆How long does it take to finish a piece of art?
Eh, the average seems to be ~10hrs from start of inking to finishing colour and signature. Some of my simpler things take only 4 or so and I’ve done some pieces that have taken upwards of 30hrs.

◆What music do you listen to while you draw?

A guy who purchased his lovely wife a pocket Tazer for their anniversary submitted this:

Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest.
The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra
for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse- sized tazer.

The effects of the tazer were supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect on your assailant,allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety....

WAY TOO COOL!
Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home.

I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing!
I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time, I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs.

AWESOME!!!
(Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave.)

Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two triple-A batteries, right? There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) but thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect
herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong?

So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and tazer in another. The directions said that a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a
fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries.

All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference; pretty cute really and (loaded with two itsy, bitsy triple-A batteries) thinking to myself, 'no possible way!'

What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best...
I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side as to say, "Don't do it, dipshit," reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny little ol' thing couldn't hurt all that bad. I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it.

I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and...
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD... WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION... WHAT THE HELL!!!

I'm pretty sure Jessie Ventura ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs.

The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room.

Note:
If you ever feel compelled to 'mug' yourself with a tazer, one note of caution: there is no such thing as a one-second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor.. A three second burst would be considered conservative.

Printer at work now works. Which is good, cause that's what it's supposed to do. Yes. So I'm going in to work today b/c I had to dash out yesterday w/ only 2h and 15 mins on the clock so I could go up to Western [Washintong University] and sit through an advising apointment, which I thought was going to include me regestering for classes. BUT- the lady was completely unprepared (didn't even have the right notebook, 'misplaced' her PowerPoint and made us wait 10mins X__x.) and it seems that Transfer students cant even register until the 24 of Aug! WTF?

Home printer of fail is still utter fail.

I applied to Macy's department store up here. Hopfully (*crosses finger, lites incence and prays to gods*) I'll be hearing from them soon. Or any of the places I've applied at. TT___TT

DK Printer of fail is fail.
The printer at work we use to print out the shipping labels and invoices is busted. Yeay- I get to write out all the shipping labels by hand tomorrow. :agony: There's over 50!

Went to a MaryKay party tonight, to help out my brother's friend's sister. It was kinda fun, and I learned that I cant use any of the MaryKay skin care line cause it eats my skin. KD But we all sat around afterwards and chatted so it was loads of fun.

My own personal printer is still on the fritz (I'll see if I can borrow my brother's in the meantime), but I'm almost done with a peice I'd started more than three years ago.

I have my laptop back, and I'm soooooooo excited!! I have a lot of projects planned/in the works and it's really awesome to have my computer back! My desktop (who carried me through my no-laptop time) is wonderful but SO. SLOW. It's nice to have a webpage load in under a minute. ><

The sad, sad thing is I seem to have lost the software/corrupted the software for my scanner, and now it wont scan anything! DK So I need to figure out a sollution to that before I can put up any of the sketches I've been working on since I formated my hard drive. (I've already tried the internal update, manually searching on HP's website and uninstall/reinstalling the software manually.) DDDDDDDDDK

So I've hijacked my older desktop. Again. It's good to know that it's as slow as ever and the Blue Screen of Death (caps required) still exists, although I'm sure I could have gone without the demonstration. It took a while, but my internet isn't hating on me as much anymore.

New season of Burn Notice is kicking ass, and the new show, Royal Pains, is pretty good. They got nothing on Jeffery Donovan, though. ;D
Amazing actor. And the being totally hot thing doesn't hurt, either!

Unfortunately for my old computer, we cant watch back eps of either show, as the memory requirements send the tower running for the hills. Good news is I can at least watch Iron Man. !!!

Aaaaand... starting up any art program is almost completely out of the question. I fell asleep waiting for this page to boot! It'd take til Wens for it to open Painter!!

*hoarse* Yeah! Go Bro!

My brother just had his Sr Concert, and I shouted so much on a recovering sore throat that I lost my voice again and my throat hates me. I'm just about recovered; I'm no longer contagious, but I still have to put up with the cough/hack/blow nose part untill I get all the nastieness outta my lungs.

But I don't care! I had too much fun! They all got up on stage at the end and my brother got a flower for graduating and being in choir.... *sniffle* I love my boys.

Afterwards we went to the local Dairy Queen (we, being just about the entire choir, plenty of alumni, and all of their boy/girlfriends and a few parents) and had a blast until closing. I think we give them more cash than the football team.

Before that, though, I called up one of my dear friends, who's currently watching her parents' house while they're on a vacation/buisness trip. We spent the day babysitting and playing games. It was pretty cool. The kids are really neat.

And I'm outta tissue again.

I appologize if I haven't uploaded anything recently. Um weawy sigc. *sniffleSNERK* My head feels like it's gonna 'splode, and I keep diving for the tissue every five minutes going 'hanamizu! HANAMIZU!!!!' Every time I blow my nose, my ears pop all painful-like and all the blowing is hard on my sore throat.

But I'm in a surprisingly good mood. I'm not feeling run-down (too much), and my family decided to cash in the retirement account of my father's because the company's going out of buisness. So we now have some monies to help fix our cracked and crumbling drive way.

It kinda sucks it's raining, though; I wanted to finish the garden today...

The radical right just filed a referendum - Referendum 71 -- to repeal many of those protections and benefits.

They need two things from you to succeed: your signature, and your silence.

Don't give them either. Join thousands of people across Washington in saying no to discrimination by pledging: "Yes! I decline to sign!" Please put your name on our pledge not to sign this referendum. Then forward this email to your friends and ask them to sign as well.

First day of a long two weeks starts now. That's the two weeks it'll be before Mom is allowed up on her own. She's reviling in her new-found power over her nurses (me and Dad) and is really enjoying the chocolate that David snuck her.

Another note is that I've finally gotten my paperwork from Whatcom Community College confirming my graduation and my AAS DT. Which is a huge relief. I knew I was graduating, but the paperwork coming in is one less thing I have to worry about and keep an eye out for.

Okay, my mom's out of surgery and in recovery. She gets to come home tomorrow where she can boss me and my brother around instead of the smexy nurses *eyeroll*.

Okay, a heads-up. I just spent a very few late nights working on fixing up the artist comments and tags of my gallery. You'll probably see this:
"ETA: Shitty grammar and/or non-existent documentation sklz of D00m."
in quite a few places. All that means is that I've edited that particular deviation for spelling/grammar/capitalization/relivant data. I might have to go through again and fix some image issues (like pixelation or bad screen tones) but for the most part, I'm done. I hope this makes it easier to read around here.

A little while longer and I'll be almost completely done sprucing up the place.

So. I got my letter today.

Yeah.

After not sleeping all night and throwing up this morning, I get my letter from Western's Art Department.



I didn't get in.


Sorry guys, but I need to go away for a while. I'm not sure when I'll be back on. I need some time to get over this and look over my life now. I haven't got my letter from the admissions dept, and I can try again next spring, but I need some time to myself.

Aaaaaand... that's about it.

Oh! >< My friends and I played what was possibly the strangest and most fun game of Halo a few days ago. We played King of the Hill and Slayer on one console with five, and then six players. It was super fun. Every time someone would die, we'd trade off controlers. *laughs* But it was really amusing because we were playing with rocket launchers and shotguns so sometimes you'd get a dual kill/suicide (because we were also playing with 50% gravity and 300% speed. Wheeeee! I can fly!), so someone would pass of their controler and then get antoher one in the same go.

It was really fun in the end, because we'd all started off playing as ourselves, and ended playing somone completely differrent! *sigh/pout* I just wish Greggs had an internet connection, cause then we could've downloaded Grifball... Oh wells! We had fun as it was!

My mother might have kidney cancer. Yes, it is a big deal. But please, please don't ask me how I'm holding up. I haven't killed myself; that's enough. I'm dealing, and I really don't want and can't take the drama of a million people pitying me. I just can't do it.
I've told my mother I'm in stout denial (which she laughed at) and it's true.

Change of topic: I hate asking my parents for help because they bicker back and forth on who's going to help me. Yes, my computer's C drive is still not formated. Curses.

I'm kinda exahusted from all the stuff that went on yesterday, and I have to get my stuff into the college for my housing and... gods, do they give vacations from life? Cause, if they do, I could really use one about now.

Simmions: I've mostly given up on him. Whenever we get attacked though, I make sure to tell him that there's chips and salsa outside before things start exploding. He usually has about a 45-30 chance of being blown up by the Blue team.

Sarge: If he'd only stay still, it'd all be worth it... Goddamnit.

Angeal: *sigh* We originally got together to tell you that Kikky is more than 'absent'. She has just finished not only with her finals, but also with her applications to Western Washington University, the WWU Art Dept as well as the Honors Progm. She may be out a few days more.

Genisis: *draws on dead-weight-Kikky's face*

Angeal: Gen! Stop that!

Genisis: *snigger*... *adds a monocle*

Angeal: *facepalm* Continuing; Kikky has further been having trouble sleeping (the falling asleep part, not the getting up half), so she's slightly cranky and really not up to her best, mentally.

Cloud: *chases Genisis off with a Bleach Pen*

Angeal: It might take her a few days to recover her stamina, but we will take excellent care of her.

Cloud: *starts gently cleaning off the marker*

Angeal: I am pleased to say, however, that I am confident she passed with flying colours. She will make a fine WWU Jr.

I know, I never really say anthing important here because, let's face it, who actually reads my journals anyways? But, if you do read this and have a fangasm over Halo shit. YOU MUST READ THIS. (It's not my work, so dont worry; no shitty stories half finished ><. )

I'm very sad that this author, Raptor-19, hasn't writen anymore than 'Zulu Company: The Last Stand' because he/she/er... anyway, they are very good. The story seems a little contrived at the start, but it's not and trust me, the ending is WAY worth the wading through the training chapters.

Why does it seem like when I have entirely toomuch work on my hands, that my SIS kicks in and I have even more work to do?
I just finished with 'Halo Wars'. Which, BTW, kicks major ass. Forge is such an awesome character. And the cenimatics are absolutly beautiful. xBox 360 is clearly catching up to the PS3 in the terms of rendering and realistic cenimatics.
And the end, right, is kinda a cliff hanger and my muse sat up and barked somthing along the lines of 'OH! What if...' and I found myself acting out the first chapter or so of what my muse has come to call '35 Years Later and the Covenant Still Hate Me'. Which at this point could either stay a short little 'here's what's happening now' piece or a full-fledge epic. It takes place roughly 20 years after the events in Halo3 and you don't get to see many of the 'main' characters. Although there will be SPARTANs. Whey for SPARTANs! :yay:

I'm really, actually, very excited about this, because I'd always wanted to write a fanwork of the Halo universe, because Bungie totally blessed us fans with an enormus universe to play in, but I never thought I'd do it justice. I love Halo, but for whatever reason, never finished a game myself. I'd never read the books and was really affraid that if I tried to write a fanfic, I'd seriously screw it up.

My knowledge of Halo is pretty much all RvB. ><
