Sorry, no art for now. Last week I bought myself a new musical instrument (as if I don't have enough of those already ). It's a ukulele!

It's a concert size Oscar Schmidt (the OU5). Beauty, isn't she?
aside: Hey, Jason Castro from American Idol also plays a OU5! Bummer he had to leave last week.

So every spare minute of the day goes into playing my uke. ^^ And when I don't have time.. I make time! Yea, I'm a bad girl. I have exams in two weeks and essays for Writing and Philosophy and I'm a slooooow essay writer so I should be working right now but I don't want to because the sun is shining (in the Netherlands!) and I wanna play the uke and have summer holidays and.. Anything but work!

I hope to continue my Queen Amidala fanart again soon. I'm sure it'll be great! And a lot of work. But fun work, right? ^^ If only I could put down my uke for only two seconds...

Well, seems I got myself a new addiction. Been watching (almost) all Star Wars movies last week, reminding me how much fun it is, so...

Started a drawing of Queen Amidala and had some fun with Darth Vader and Sephiroth. If you wanna know what I'm talking about, take a look at my Gallery.

Need a little break from all this work I got from school. I follow this extra course to improve my Dutch, but this means extra homework thus extra stress. Or am I the only one who stresses out when I have an essay to write? I know I shouldn't.. It's just damn hard to get a thesis statement specific enough for a 1000 words essay! ><

School finally permits me some time off. Had four exams last week, and I think I did pretty well. Now let's hope my teachers think the same.

I got a Valentine's Card after all! w00t! ^^ And I know who it was from so I'm gonna give him an extra big hug Friday.

At the moment I'm extremely busy with school. Well, I'm used to worse (back in my Japanese days) but it doesn't give me much time to draw. Kind of makes me depressed (what doesn't?), as well as the fact that I don't really know what to draw or write. Just seem to get lucky from time to time instead of being able to put something decent down on paper.

Today I really felt like Hermione. The whole class wouldn't answer any question unless they were asked directly. Our teacher even asked "Is it boring? Or too difficult?" so something wasn't as it should've been there. As a result, it was me and 2 others who would answer all of the questions. Afterwards I heared "I didn't raise my hand because I couldn't be arsed to answer the questions, even though I knew the answers." but when they did get asked, they didn't know. Just raise these damn hands when you know the answer and don't make me feel like an insufferable know-it-all next time! >< Or just admit you're a bad student.

On a completely different note: got this big canvas from my mom. Any suggestions what to paint on it?

School started again. It sure was a bummer to go back after a long break, and the amount of homework scared me at first. This period's subjects are phonetics, phonolology, writing (spelling etc.) and drama. I still have a bit of trouble understanding the assignments, but I fall asleep in class because it's too easy. What's the logic in that?

What I really wanted to talk about is Valentine's Day. I dread that aweful day! It's my first in years without my (ex)boyfriend. Christmas without him was okay. New Year was kind of tough because it's when we officially started dating.. But Thursday it's Valentine's Day, which is all about love and boyfriends and being together and I'M ALL ALONE! To make it worse: they really promote it this year with heart shaped balloons and chocolates and personal messages to be delivered on your phone and all of that..

I didn't do much drawing since my last Journal Entry. 3 doodles and a unfortunate kitten is all I got on paper. I really had to force myself to try again today. Not that I don't enjoy drawing! Just didn't have the feeling I sould succeed. But I did! Here, look it my new little kitten. ^^

Before I finish I'd like to say welcome back to Raptoe, whom I haven't seen around here for quite some time. I always enjoyed watching her sketches whenever I happened to be in her room. Aaah, these good old days...

Last week I've been really busy thinking what to do with my hair. Yes, my hair! It curls, it's fluffy, it doesn't do what I want, it doesn't look the way I want, ... It's a mess!

Yesterday I went into town with a friend and after visiting 5 stores for at least 3 times each (and they're located all over town I should add) I finally decided to get a electric hair straightener. So a lot of thanks to my friend for putting up with my indecisiveness.

I tried the straightener today and the result is absolutely shocking. It's straight! Completely perfectly soft and beatifuly straight! Only downside: I keep thinking there are lose hairs on my bare arms now because my hair's longer. It itches! If you want to see what it looks like, click here. Okay, enough about the hair.

I took up sewing pluche / stuffed animals. Cats ofcourse. What else? Got some scraps of fabric here to practice on. It's pretty hard to figure it all out by yourself, but internet's been my saviour.

I'm making a nurse kitty now for my mom, who's in the hospital again. Hope it'll cheer her up a bit. She's always so grumpy when ill. Well, can understand somewhere.. But it's no fun when you're scolded when you're trying to do your best.

That's all for now I guess. Ow, make sure you read Roald Dahl's short stories. He's a genious! How everything becomes clear in the last paragraph is just wonderful.

Waterstone's, the largest bookstore of Europe, sure is impressive. I didn't visit all floors (there are like 7), else I would still be there now. I got myself Beowulf, Chauser's Green Knight and a book of synoniems. Very convenient!

Hamley's is a very very large toystore. How I'd love to have a job there! They were all playing with toys and balloons and everything. ^^ I think that makes it a lot more interesting for people to buy than to have them browse shelves. I bought a Yoo-Hoo pluche (very cute with LARGE eyes) and a board game with Shaun the Sheep. My hero! :cheer:

Indian food was a real surprise. I don't know any Indian restaurant here in Holland, but there were plenty of 'em in London. A travel-guide recommended a cheap one (sry, forgot the name). The interior wasn't very welcoming, but the food was delicious! Prefer my own curry though..
For italian food, you should try the restaurant next to Her Majesty's Theatre on Haymarket. Tagliatelle con funghi ftw! ^^

The Phantom of the Opera in Her Majesty's Theatre (see food) was so beautiful! I cried, I laughed, held my breath.. The cast was wonderful; great voices, talented in acting and pretty/handsome. Also the chandelier and the boat.. Well, won't tell about those. Just go and see for yourself!

The parks had such cute squirrels! When you make a tutting sound, they'll come really close to see if you got something tastey. Someone had M&M's (the peanut kind) and shared them with a squirrel. It was so funny to watch it burry that big blue thing! ^^ Oh, and I petted a pelican! Yes, a real one! Its beak was almost the size of my arm, which was kinda scary. But it stayed put and let me pet it and it was soooo soft! :cute:

The Tower of London was very interesting and entertaining. I had a wonderful Beefeater guide who made a lot of jokes and had a clear pronunciation, which I'm very grateful of. I study English, but I didn't get half of what most people were saying. You London people mumble! Oh, and if you're missing a raven.. I took it! ^^ j/k j/k Wouldn't dare make the tower fall. But they're magnificant creatures alright. Never seen a real one before.

Well, enough about London. What about my new Metal Dance Station? ^^ I got it on Tuesday and already love it. It's the TX 4500-v2 FMAX (my PC says it's RedOctane though) and very shiney! It wasn't very sensitive when I just got it, but after a lot of jumping it does what it's supposed to do now. ^^ It sure was worth all the money. *sadly watches her empty bankaccount*

I felt honoured yesterday. Really honoured! Someone was inspired by my Siamese 2 and made this lovely little piece of art. Even when she didn't have to, ~SadisticNinja referred to my work and praised it.

I got some exams next week but not much time to study for 'em. This week is supposed to be a 'readingweek', meaning I shouldn't have to go to school. Guess what.. And they even dare give us new material!

I'm working my ass off, but my pencil is screaming for attention. So then my hand reaches out
(nooo! you should study!)
and starts drawing a present for my mom, who has her birthday soon. The day before x-mas to be exact. I'm lazy so I'll combine the presents this year. Don't know what else to give her anyway. She already got so much presents last few months. All Beatles stuff btw! She's the world's biggest Beatles fan, so she'd better like my present!

Can't wait for the exams to be over. I got some time off then. Not just the holidays, but the whole month of Januari. I do have to read 6 books for Novel, but that's okay. I mean, didn't choose English Literature as a first major for nothing! ^^

Used my digital camera to do a photo shoot of some of my old drawings. Most of them you'll be able to find in Scraps, but some made it into the Gallery. I'm so proud of those!

Put up my John Lennon WIP1 as Favourite Deviation, but I don't know if I have the courage to finish it. I'm scared I'll mess up.. I know I should continue, and I'll always have the picture, but I still can't get myself to pick up a pencil. I'll just have to gather some courage and draw other things in the meantime.

Got a lot of Brits asking me for directions lately, but they always give me a strange look and I have to repeat myself some times. "Is my English that bad?" I wonder. Even though I live in Holland, I've always been reading and writing in English, but I never got much practice in talking. Now I'm studying English (with Literature as my first major), I am kind of embarrassed about my accent. But when I do speak English in class, everyone is able to understand me. Even native speakers like my teachers. Then what is it I'm doing wrong in the streets?

Been at my parents this week. I had some time off from school because of exams. I only had one, on Tuesday. It was English Grammar and I think it went pretty well. I spent a lot of time studying on it, so I really hope I get a good grade. I'm trying to get into the Honour's Programme, so I'll need a 7.5 average score at the end of the year.

I didn't bring my tablet, so I had to go back to the old pencil and paper. It's still easier to work with if you ask me. And I got myself a good example! *insert mysterious tune here*

As you can see I uploaded a drawing of:
- Mitarai, an avvy for a friend's LJ.
- Eeyore, for the sake of being Eeyore (love him).

and some photos:
- two of my sweet little cat Gitje.
- one of myself being.. well.. me.

Drawing Eeyore took me about 5 hours, but it feels like a lot more. My shoulders and hands are all stiff now. Also didn't get much sleep thanks to it, so catching up in the train to Amsterdam.

Every day 4 hours of boring trains.. I'm pretty much used to it now. I have a pass which allows free travelling on weekdays. Safes money when going to university, but can also mean a lot of fun when you've got the day off. Grab a train, no matter where it's going, and get out at an interesting looking station.

This is how I found out Enkhuizen is a very cute village with a beautiful harbor, and Utrecht is a great place to shop. Limburg or Groningen next time! Or perhaps the Veluwe? I'll see where the train takes me to.

Still can't find a scanner (didn't really search / kick people to be honest) and I think it's a bit too expensive to buy one. But no worries, I've got my drawing tablet! It's really different from drawing on paper, but to be able to have every thinkable drawing material in just one little pen is amazing.

After another year of absence form DevArt I see it has become a lot more user-friendly. Was my biggest problem with it really - never could do / find the things I wanted to.

Anyway, I posted my House MD FanArt today. Hope you enjoy!

I still like to draw, even though I don't do that as much as I'd like to. I'm improving, but I'm not as good yet as I want to be.

When I see a scanner, I'll make sure to use it and upload some of my new drawings. I'm focussing on the human body now, so any comments on my drawings are welcome. I also found out I enjoy to draw cats - they turn out really cute. ^^
