A fictional story set in the midst of World War 2, Winter War has taken Earthbound Comics to new heights, written and drawn by the mighty Kurt Belcher.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Thought it was about time for another update.<br /><br />In the purely art department, Martin Fisher's "Risers" and David Hayes' "Rottentail" are both nearly finished.  I have 8 pages left to draw on each of the final scripts for that.  Then I have 9 more pages of extra scenes to draw for the "Risers" GN.<br /><br />Zachary Turner is in the process of doing some amazing colors for Tom Pinchuk's "Unimagineable", a strange pitch we'll be sending out as soon as the colors and the letters are finished.<br /><br />After that, I'm in talks to draw a 110-page GN.  No contracts have been signed so far, so I can't say too much about it.<br /><br />I also need to finish drawing some shorter  ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Well, I haven't updated in a while, despite my promise to try to keep a regular journal thing going on.  Maybe I'll make that a New Year's resolution.<br /><br />"Risers" is about to enter the homestretch.  I have five pages left of #4, meaning that part 5 of the Martin Fisher-penned book is right around the corner.  I still need to do a cover for #5 and draw the cover for the overall collection, since the series is now going to be a done-in-one OGN.  I'll also be drawing some extra-special insert sequences to up the action and violence quotient on the book for publisher Peter Simeti, which should be fun.<br /><br />The one I need to be focusing on the most righ ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Just wanted to give an update on a few current things going on.<br /><br />First off, I just want to say how much it sucks that the world of comics in particular and life in general has lost such a talent as Mike Wieringo.  The guy was a style unto himself, and by all accounts, one of the few true gentlemen of comics.  The closest I ever came to knowing him was to comment on his work here on dA a few times.  Despite that, I had admired his work for years, especially his (self-admitted favorite book) "Tellos".  When people say he'll be missed, it's not an exaggeration.<br /><br />Anyways, I've entered the second half of "Risers" #3.  I'm way behind on this book b ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Hey, all!<br /><br />Alterna Comics, for whom I'm drawing the revisionist zombie comic "Risers", is planning on putting out a small line of childrens' comics.  I'm going to put together a science fiction proposal for this line, about a few kids who lose their parents and go on a quest to find them.<br /><br />To me, childrens' stories don't have to be dumbed down, just to make them more accessible to kids.  I mean, certainly some adult themes are a little too sophisticated for younger children, but I don't think the basic stories like friendship, love, violence, and new experiences are beyond them.<br /><br />So I thought I'd post a journal here and see if anyone who read ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Hey, all!  Just wanted to post and say thanks to all who read and might've voted for "Thieves" in the 2007 Small Press Idol.  We got a wealth of new votes over this past weekend, putting us back into the top 6, as of the end of Round 3.  This meant we had a shot at having our comic get the free four-issue commitment from Dimestore Productions.  I -- along with creator/writer Itai Rosenbaum -- was very excited.<br /><br />However, the three judges that guide the contest got to perform a 'Veto Vote' after Round 3, and decided that they didn't like "Thieves" after all, and voted it out of the top 6.  That was frustrating enough, but they also voted out an ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Hey, all!  For anyone who's reading, I've entered the Small Press Idol contest at Dimestore Productions.  This is the comic equivalent of "American Idol", wherein you do your damnedest to create a great comic book, along with all of the other contestants.  It goes round by round until there can be only one (to quote Conner MacLeod).  In the end, the winner gets a four-issue commitment from Dimestore, to publish your book.<br /><br />Anyway, our book is "Thieves".  Itai Rosenbaum is writing it and doing the letters, I'm doing the pencils, and Henrik Horvath is doing the inks and the colors.  I feel like I'm not doing enough...<br /><br />So what this Journal entr ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Not sure how many people read this or care, but I thought I'd update on all my current projects.  It's as much to get it straight in my own head as to explain to anyone else, I guess.  I'll start with the newest stuff.  Unless indicated, everything was inked by me.<br /><br />"Dead Living" - This is a new take on zombies, written by British phenomenon Martin Fisher.<br /><br />This is currently in the pitch stage, rather than a full-fledged short story or longer story.  I'll be drawing five sequential pages for it, and perhaps a cover and some character designs.  I've drawn one page so far, and I hope to get the rest done in the next five to six days.<br /><br />I don't h ]]></media:text>
