The reasons for this: I am currently 8 months pregnant, my house was under construction for a few months so I didn't have use of my art room, and my job has been keeping me a lot more busy than it used to.

Never fear, I am still painting and drawing and taking photos. I just can't not do those things. They are apart of who I am.

Within the last week I was featured in our local newspaper as the Artist of the week type thing. I was also in the fair last week and received two 3rd places (one for "surrounded by fertility" and one for the photo "not-so-ninja-turtle").

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm still here and really appreciate everyone's support and will continue to produce artwork (even if its not on a regular basis).

i am currently working on two watercolor pencil pieces that i am hoping to find the time to finish here in the next month or so. but we will see. one will definitely have to be done before the 4th of july as it is going to be a present for my mom-in-law.

i have 5 pieces of artwork entered into a local fair. i'm hoping hoping hoping and crossing my fingers that one of them will place. i atleast wanna make back my $20 entry fee.

i have been promoted at work and thus don't have as much time on my hands as i once did. that unfortunetly means that my MS Paint pieces will be very few and far between.

well, my lunch is coming to a close so i must close as well.

HOWEVER i wasn't having very many people say they were interested.
this morning i got ready early and went down to the distributing point of the bags in my town and pulled in. by this point i was so nervous i was shaking. its hard to explain why, but it has to do with me being afraid that people are just nice to me and say my paintings are nice and i am really a crappy artist.
ANYWAYS! i went over to the ladies and asked if they had any more bags. they kind of looked around and said, "no, sorry we just ran out." so i said "that's okay, i actually have another question for you guys... i have a painting that i was planning on selling and donating the proceeds, however ihave not had very much feedback on that, and think it would be better if i just donated the painting itself. i have it in the car if you would like to take a look...?"
the ladies were kinda looking back and forth at each other and finally two ladies stepped forward and we walked over to my car and pulled out my sketch book. i probably looked like a bumbling fool trying to open my awkward sketch book and shaking like crazy at the same time, but i finally got it open and showed them the painting.
their reaction was sort of pleasant surprise. i could tell they had mentally prepared themselves for a really crappy painting and were surprised and yet thankful for finding one not so crappy. all they kept saying was "that is beautiful..."
anyhoo, the lead lady asked if i had a card, which i have never thought about making before, but am now thinking that i should.... anyways, i said no i didn't. she told me that she wanted my name, address and phone number so that they could credit me and get ahold of me if they needed. she said that she wasn't sure if they'd want to donate it or if they'd keep it or what. then she asked if i would like to present it to the board myself, and i said "oh no! i am way to nervous right now, i don't know what i'd be like if i had to do that."
so they took my painting and the head lady asked "how many bags did you need?" i said, "i would like 4 but 2 would be good." she said "we have a reserve of 150 for the gateway school board but they won't miss 4."
anyhoo, i feel really good about myself right now. i feel like i have accomplished something good today and have hopefully helped out in some way. i am thinking that next year i might try to volunteer and fill or pass out bags. who knows. ...or... maybe i'll just donate another painting.
