About a month ago, I noticed some spotting of blood in her urine. She was otherwise acting normal, so I didn't think it was too serious. We made an appointment to see an exotic vet. They did an ultrasound on her to rule out stones, and her bladder looked just fine. She had to be under anesthesia to do the ultrasound, and it was hilarious seeing her come out of it afterward. She was running in circles and standing on her head!

Since her insides looked OK, the doctor thought it was a UTI (urinary tract infection) and prescribed an antibiotic. The hard part was actually giving her the medicine; it had to be given twice a day via syringe in her mouth. Of course she didn't want to take it, and turned into a raging ball of spines whenever I tried giving it to her. I put some peanut butter on the tip of the syringe to make it somewhat pleasant, but that didn't help much.

The day we took her to the vet was also the day the blood started to clear up. Luna was just fine taking her medicine (and pouting afterward) and going about her daily routines. Then, less than a week later, I went to give her the medicine after coming home from work. I untucked her from her pillowcase and was shocked to see it soaked in blood. It looked like she had her period. After I did the medicine, I put her back in her cage and she immediately started throwing up. It made me feel sick just watching it. As she roamed around her cage, she was still passing excessive blood, and some of it was in big globs, like you'd see in menstrual blood.

We took her back to the vet that evening. The doctor saw the blood on her pillowcase and on a sampling of litter, and suspected it might be her kidneys. So, they did another ultrasound, and it turned out there was something abnormal in uterus. The most likely cause was a tumor. The solution would be to get her spayed. Before the operation, they would take an x-ray to see if they could see any tumors in her chest. If they see any, they won't do it. =/

The surgery was scheduled for about two weeks later. In the week following the second vet appointment, Luna was very weak. She stopped eating and could barely walk from one side of her cage to the other. However, she kept drinking and still puffed and hissed when disturbed. She grew very thin and I thought she was dying. :sad: I thought it was so unfair...she was only two years old, I was supposed to have her for at least a few years and it had only been a few months. I thought about what I would do with her and her cage and toys. I hoped that if she didn't recover, she's pass away on her own so that I didn't have to make that decision for her.

But, little Luna never gave up. She kept drinking water and hobbling around. The next week (this being the week of USA Thanksgiving), she slowly became more active and nibbled at her mealworms. Then, she started nibbling on her cat food and could have playtime on the floor. She steadily got her appetite back and went back to running on her wheel and playing with me. I was especially excited to see her start pooping again. After being so weak the previous week, she made up for lost time. She built the biggest nest I've ever seen her make.

The operation was this past Thursday, December 3rd. Her cage had to go with her because they didn't have one to put her in. We dropped her off in the early morning, and by the time I sat down for lunch, the doctor called us with the results of the surgery.

Whatever was in her uterus was no longer there. He searched her liver, her cervix, her vagina, even her intestines...it was just gone. He went ahead and spayed her anyway. She went through the surgery just fine, and would be available to pick up the next day at 4 in the afternoon.

Sooo...little Luna is back at home and is just normal except for a shaved belly. She really is my tough little girl.

Yesterday, when I checked my messages, I noticed in a couple journals that there's been a backlash against some people who draw South Park slash.

Now, I absolutely detest slash in any fandom. However, I'm a fan of letting people draw what they want, and "don't like it, don't comment."

When it comes to SP slash, there are two things that piss me off:

1. These characters are only 8-9 years old, and there's a large number of sexually inappropriate fanart of them.
2. Some people take their pairings a bit too seriously.

On #1--it is against DA policy to depict children, including cartoon characters, in a sexual manner. It's part of the campaign against child pornography. And, drawing said characters as teenagers or adults does NOT make it OK.

#2--this isn't nearly as big as a problem as #1. However, it's what pissed me off enough to write this rant. In one of the journals I read yesterday, there was a conflict that occurred in an SP fan's poll. I don't know what was said since DA fixed the trick on how to read hidden comments .
But, the comment that seemed to trigger it was the OP's opinion that the networked forced SPS to put Stan and Wendy back together because the fans draw so much StanxKyle fanart.



Stan and Wendy are together because...um, Stan has had a crush on Wendy since the first episode? They were broken up for a while and he never really got over her? Plot development?

Here is what is canon and not canon in South Park:

Trey writes whatever he wants on his own show + Comedy Central gives and show comes on air = canon
Anything else = not canon

Now, unless the persons above take a bit too much acid, Stan x Kyle is not and never will be canon.

I am not here to attack slash fans, and I'm certainly not trying to attack the deviant I just alluded to. By all means draw your fanart and write your fan fiction. Just please, for the love of God, keep the nasty stuff off DA. There is a huge difference between drawing two characters hugging/nuzzling and two characters having sexytimes. Don't whine when your "rape" pictures get deleted. It's not trolling, it's enforcing the rules.

My favorite teacher from high school fucking killed himself (I know the reason why, but I'd rather not share). It's....hard to imagine, he was such a cool and funny guy. He really liked my driver's ed. project where I planned a road trip to Detroit. He even let me draw during PE class and I drew a picture of Shrek for him. In 12th grade we had an assignment where we had to write a thank-you letter to a teacher and I picked him. =/

One of the supervisors rescued her from a fox in her yard. The person who rehabs deer nearby has broken ribs and can't do it, so she's going to raise her.

The lady's had to teacher her to eat, drink, and even poop. The fawn has been getting fed goat's milk and we're gonna try to get her to eat some solid grain (which is intended for goats). Today, she found my hand to be quite tasty. It's hard to pet her when she licks all over it!

It's amazing just how darling she is. X3 She curls up to sleep inside a pet carrier (yes, she's small enough to fit in one), and follows us around in the lobby. The little bleat noise she makes is so precious, too. When she's a little older, they're gonna try to socialize her with the goats.

The lower picture was a much harder pose to draw, with that jumble of arms and little legs to deal with. Note that I switched from portrait to landscape position. I did the final drawing by sketching circles and ovals for their heads first to make sure they'd all fit, then took it from there.

Out of all the artwork I've ever done, this one took the most planning to do, and I consider it to be one of my greatest.

These are practice drawings of all the guys except for Marshall, who I've already drawn plenty of. I think reason Kanye isn't colored in because the set of pencils I used for those has a brown that is totally NOT good for using as skin tone.

This shows a few things.
1. I drew Marshall's pose first, then Trey's. That drawing of him is on the back of the practice drawings in the previous photo. I realized the two of them had almost the exact same expression, which wouldn't look good because they're going to sit next to each other and they look a bit similar. So, when I traced his face from the other side, I changed a couple things. :<
2. ....After drawing Trey's pose, I noticed I had a sizing problem there. In the final picture, you can still tell that Marshall is drawn at a smaller scale than the rest of them. X(
3. Tracing and re-tracing makes some things lost in translation. Buddy's hands look much better in the sketch then the final picture.

TRACING PAPER MADNESS!!! That's what I used to get them all on the final paper. I taped them all down, and re-traced AGAIN to press the outlines into the paper. It was quite tedious. The only thing different from the guys on the tracing paper to the final paper is that I fixed the line's under Seth's eyes.

We've had some 70F-degree weather, the flowers are popping up, I saw a robin at work the other day, and speaking of which, we had newborn baby kittens at work. They were so tiny, with their eyes shut, and nursing on their mother.

So, new season of South Park premiered the other day. Took a pretty huge swipe at Disney, but they totally deserved it. XD

I spent a portion of last week computer-less. D= My desktop has been out of commission for a long time now thanx to viruses, so I've been using my laptop. However, the power cord thingie broke, and Dad had to order a new one. x__x

Well, during the time I was computer-less, we drove down to Blacksburg, VA [link] to visit my oldest brother. It was a nice drive down and back through the farms and mountains. There were lots of little calves laying down in the fields. X3
Damn, it was nearly 80 degrees down there. The second day, we walked around downtown and on campus. We visited the memorial. It's pretty damn creepy seeing the building where you-know-what [link] happened. Outside, the only thing you can see amiss is that the front door is boarded up. Brother says that building is going to re-open next year. Then, we walked around the duck pond. There's not only ducks, but a bunch of geese and some weird birds we didn't know hanging out there. Because it was such a nice day, lots of people were out there. I could see dog and horse footprints in the mud, and one women even had her cockatoo on the bench with her.

This week at work, there were only a few dogs, only a few kitties, and no little critters (last week we had bunnies, ferrets, and Guinea pigs). I was disappointed at this until I looked outside and saw a new horse.
Her name is Sock, she's 18 years old, and the owners dropped her off because she's "mean and unpredictable." o.o Well, she was fine with me and one of the other ladies petting her head.
The next day, I watched her as she was included with the other barn animals. The miniature mule grazed with her, and the goats kept their distance. She and the horse we already own sniffed each other over the fence a few times, and she tried to kick him. X( Well, there you go. Grumpy old lady horse.

2.) I completed something 10 years in the making....THE 50 STATE QUARTER COLLECTION. To non-U.S.'ers: A long time ago, the U.S. Mint decided to release a quarter with a new design for each of the 50 states. They issued five new quarters a year, thus, it took ten fucking years to release all 50 quarters. These were done in the order of the states' admission to the union, starting with Delaware and ending with Hawai'i. I got the Hawai'i quarter just the other day, thus completing my collection.
To coin-savvy readers, I didn't bother with getting both mints. One guy told me I should've just ordered them for the U.S. Mint. But, that's the easy way out! There's no fun in that! compared it to Pokemon--it's the thrill of finding them in the wild!

1. I'm female.

2. I have tics. I jerk my facial muscles, neck, and shoulders; and make little noises in my throat. I can't help it, and thinking about it just makes it worse.

3. I'm a huge animation nut. I like an assortment of preschool toons, educational toons, kid cartoons, adult cartoons, feature films, Eastern and Western animation, etc. I have a large collection of these on DVD, too. My dream is to someday work an animated feature films.

4. I consider myself an audiophile. I have a large music collection with a variety of artists. I generally prefer stuff that's energetic and fun to listen to. As you may or may not have guessed, my favorite genre is hip hop. My second favorite would have to be soundtracks--film, TV, Broadway, video game...

5. I love to look at and organize media. I have a compulsion to organize by size or alphabetization.

6. I'm an animal-lover. =3 I love domestic and farm animals, wildlife, fish, creepy-crawlies, you name it. I currently volunteer at the county animal shelter--the ladies there have been calling me "the pet whisperer." After I finish cleaning, I go play with critters for the rest of the time I'm there.

7. When I'm alone, I'm almost always talking to myself. I could be singing, repeating lines from movie/TV or a past conversation, or just gibbering nonsense words. I tend to make animal noises back at whatever critter I'm playing with; I can make cat noises, goat/sheep noises, guinea pig noises, and have been working on imitating this noise: [link]

8. I always have the urge to hold something. It can be as mundane as a pencil, book, purse, or eating utensil. In my room, I'm usually at my bed or desk, where I'll hang on to a stuffed animal or a character figurine. If I'm in bed reading or just watching TV, I arrange myself in a very specific way with my blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals. I need to hang onto something with my hands and feel pressure around some areas, which helps with the tics I mentioned above.

9. I have no interest in dating, having a boyfriend, or having sex. None at all. That said, I do find a very small number of males to be good-looking and I have only ever had a crush on (**SURPRISE!**) Eminem. <333

10. I have a strong interest in geography and world cultures (languages, religions). My coin collection ties into this. The areas I have the most interest in are Africa, and currently, the far north (think Arctic Circle and Greenland), and India. I took a class on Eastern Religion last year and enjoyed it very much. Hinduism is quite yummy!

11. I have a very sensitive stomach. My eating habits are a result of that, plus being a little emetophobic when I was very young. Being overly hungry gives me a tummy ache, so does being full, eating sweets, and being active right after eating. I deal with it by eating smaller amounts throughout the day. I was tested for a stomach disease when I younger, and it came back negative.

12. I played violin for three years a while back (from age 10-13, I'm now 20). I stopped because I had to drop music to take art, and playing hurt my back (I have a bad back thanx to a sledding accident in 5th grade, and probably genetics). Though I haven't played in years, the violin player in me has never left. I still make fingering motions with my hands as if I'm playing, and still listen to music and imagine how I'd play it on my violin. Today, it has given me advantage with playing Guitar Hero on DS--the fingering and arm motions required are very similar to playing violin.

13. As the IRC chatters already know very well, I'm a weather-holic. I always keep track of the weather not only in my area, but across the U.S. I especially love bad weather--thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes--and get very excited if one comes my way. Though, I get scared if there's a potential a tornado is actually near my house. The one time that happened, we were in the basement, someone on my brother's ham radio said "tornado touch down at [intersection a few miles from my house]", and the electricity in the house flickered. My love of severe weather also ties into my fascination with the Emergency Alert System.

14. I get dizzy easily. This didn't start until high school (I bet stress and anxiety is a factor). It's especially worse when I get close to my period. Looking at a patterned carpet, aisles in department stores, and stirring have all made me dizzy. "Lady-KL" is short for one of my other usernames, "Lady KnuxLocke." It was originally KnuxLocke (Knuckles and Locke) at one forum, but I changed it to Lady KnuxLocke so everyone would stop calling me "he."

The other day, I bought SP seasons 7 and 8 plus Orgazmo. It felt great to finally watch that in widescreen, unrated/NC-17 glory (I've seen the edited-for-TV version a bunch of times).

Of all the shit to happen, I became sick starting on my birthday. That's about the third time I've had a cold on my birthday/Halloween.
The first time happened back in first grade...I stayed home from school, but Mom let me wear my costume anyway. My teacher even stopped by my house with a cupcake from the Halloween party they had that day.

Also, w00t @ election timez. Mom, Dad, and I voted at around 1 PM at my middle school, and there was virtually no line. One of the workers asked me, "Is this your first time voting?" "Yes." "Congratulations!"
Besides president, I had to vote for two Congressmen. Everybody I voted for won.
That was quite an exciting night seeing Obama win...Hell, he was in my city holding a last-minute rally the night before! It was kinda weird seeing a place I've driven by so many times on the news. However, I don't live in an area where people were partying in the streets. One of my buddies in NYC said there were thousands of people outside cheering and letting off firecrackers and gunshots.
There were a bunch of people partying in the streets of DC, too, that I saw in the local news. They were even crowding around the White House, even though Bush wasn't even there! It was pretty crazy.

Another crazy thing is that there's a category 4 hurricane hitting Cuba as I type. o__O;; It's pretty late in the season for those, especially one so severe.

I had a scare last week.
I was getting in the shower, and I bumped my leg (a little below the knee) VERY hard on the side of bathtub. It made my leg from my knee all the way down to my foot hurt. It skinned it a little, and I could see it swelling and a bruise forming right away.
I tried taking a shower anyway, but I had to stop soon because I got dizzy and my vision went funny. I shut off the water and sat down in the tub. Then, I threw up a little bit.
I went downstairs and told Mom about it. She was afraid she'd have to take me to the ER. I figured it wasn't broken because I could still move my leg fine, it just hurt. Have you ever hit your elbow and had your whole arm ache as a result? It was like that.
After a couple hours with ice on it, most of the pain in my leg went away except for where I bumped it. Now there's a huge, multi-colored bruise on it.

First of all--I'm not going back to university in the fall. It was just too much for me to handle.

But, it wasn't a waste. Let's see...I had some fun times in the dorm, took a lot of nice photos; went to anime club and saw Cowboy Bebop: The Movie, Death Note, Lucky Star, Princess Tutu; went on a trip to DC to the National Gallery of Art, did good stuff in my art classes, learned a lot about religion...and I saw Wayne Brady. X3

There were a lot of tornadoes over the spring. It was unusual. o__O NOAA says that this could be a record year for tornadoes in the U.S.

When I came home in May, it took a long time to recover from the anxiety, on top of having my period. =/
My anxiety got a lot worse, and I'm still in a major load of pain when I have my period, so I'm trying different medicine. I started a new one last week, and it's been disagreeing with me. We had company over, and I felt sick almost the entire time. Bleh.

I'm trying to push myself harder in my artwork. I'm feeling one of those "my work isn't good enough, blah" moods. Well, everybody gets those at times. I feel very proud of that painting I did of sea horses and lollipops. I plan on doing more paintings like that. I'm having moments where I have really good ideas but have trouble getting them on paper, and wind up drawing South Park pictures instead (which there's nothing wrong with).

Hmmm...
So far this summer, I've seen Speed Racer, Indiana Jones, Get Smart, and Kung-Fu Panda.
I'm a huge fan of the Speed Racer cartoon, and I loved every minute of the movie. The CG animation was awesome, it was a lot like the show, and it had the theme song integrated into the score. The credits even started with the Japanese version of the theme song. I'm disappointed it got mostly bad reviews and did poorly at the box office.

I found one of Eminem's DVD's that has been out of print for a few years among the used DVD's at GameStop.

I've been waiting a few months for South Park figures to come out at Best Buy. Mezco, the toy company, said they were doing a police officer Cartman and a frozen Kenny (which they've made before, but I don't have either). They wound up doing only the one of Kenny. He was $2.99 if I bought any SP season boxset, which were all on sale. So, I also got season 5 for $14.99. w00t.

Where I live, lots of these [link] come out everywhere in the springtime. They're fun to watch and fun to play with. Their bodies are very soft, and the hairs on them are not irritating (to humans) at all. They can move pretty fast, too.
A lot of people like to stomp on them for fun, and that's always bugged me. Damn, I loved those so much when I was little, that I wrote a story about them for an assignment back in first grade.

So, of course I had to pick one up and play with it for a bit. When I was finished, I set on a bush, and watched more caterpillars hurry across the walkway. There were a bunch of squished ones, too, but I guess not everyone watches their feet when they walk.

They day went by...I spent the afternoon pondering an English assignment, went to a 5:30 class that got out a little early at 6:30, and came back.

At 7 PM, I sat down in front of my laptop to eat and watch a movie, and was a little startled when I noticed something on my jacket hanging up. There was a caterpillar on the hood. Not only that, there was some caterpillar poop on my hood, too. o__O;

How did that find its way on my jacket? And how did I go about my day without noticing? Well, it must be a good sign that they recognize me as a place of refuge. I paused the DVD and walked all the way downstairs to put that caterpillar (and its dropping) back outside.

Well, that was the highlight of my day. Luckily, the caterpillar didn't accidentally get squished, that would've been real messy.

I like watching the new flowers and leaves coming in. It brings up good memories of the weather warming up and the school year winding down.

Though, the past few years, springtime has been a time of death. Which is a bit ironic, since spring is supposed to be a time of rebirth. In 10th grade, one of my grandmothers died, in 11th grade, Proof died (two year anniversary was the other day, egh), and in 12th grade, double whammy, one of Mom's cousins died, and there was the VA Tech shooting (1 year anniversary coming in a few days x.x).

And, now that springtime was rolled around again, it makes me wonder, gee, what will happen this year? Let's just hope this year breaks the cycle.

That really sad ep of Death Note was on last night. >__< If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about.

Well, there's gonna be a bunch of movies to look forward to in May and beyond. Indiana Jones 4, Prince Caspian, WALL-E, and, of course, *SPEED RACER*. And hey, though we're not in Japan, the next Miyazaki film is coming out over there in July.

The other day, the Peninsula SPCA was over here. The fliers advertising promised puppies and kittens. It turned out that they brought a few dogs and two kittens that were only four weeks old. So tiny. @__@ I really wanted some kitty time, but I chose not to disturb the sleeping babies.

Nope.

"TORNADO WATCH"

WHAT?! Tornadoes on an early February morning?! I knew there were tornadoes in the Gulf area last night, and I saw lightning and heard thunder at 5:15 AM or so, but I didn't know they found their way up here! I went over to my laptop to check the radar, and the storms were in the Outer Banks and out to sea. The watch had been issued at 6:45 AM and was going to end at 11 AM; at 8:30, it was canceled for everybody except someplace in North Carolina.

Well, in other news...

I've finished reading all of Death Note. That was pretty intense. Next, I'm going to read Persepolis. The movie of that was nominated for Best Animated Feature (Oscar show is Sunday!). I'm disappointed The Simpsons Movie didn't get into that category.

Friday, the 8th, I saw Wayne Brady at my uni's concert hall.
I was all the way up in row G on the third level. It's scary up there.

College work just gets in the way. =/ This semester, I'm taking a Watercolor class. Wanted to take Basic Drawing, but it was full. The previous semester, I was frustrated with my art class only because I didn't spend nearly as much time on my work as I wanted to, because of all the other shit going on.

It's easy to walk around outside and take a bunch of photos. And with the way the campus is laid out, there's plenty of places to get a wide view of the sky and sunsets. Plus, the buildings and trees look nice enough that it isn't a big deal if they get in the picture. In fact, they often enhance it.

I didn't know Entertainment Tonight was going to premiere the Speed Racer trailer tonight, and I just happened to be channel surfing and came upon it.

I am SO EXCITED over this movie. That is EXACTLY how a live-action Speed Racer movie should look like. It's so colorful. And yes, it does look corny, but in a cool way.

So happy...so happy.

It's especially relieving because I love Alvin and the Chipmunks, too, and that movie looks fucking awful.

Guys I am totally at college (and have been for over a week).
They have the freshmen come early so we can sit through a ton of orientation crap. Though not all of it is crap; one night there was a wonderful performance by a spoken word group and an R&B/Jazz group. While waiting in the concert hall for that, we did the wave a few times. XD

Just finished my first week of classes (I've got none on Friday ). They consist of 2D Design, a writing seminar, a social justice seminar, and art history.

I went in today, and they had rearranged quite a bit. The section on the wall with Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park stuff was no longer there, and I searched around to find that it had been set up on one of those island shelfcase thingies.

I was dissappointed to find they didn't have as much stuff, and was thankful I had bought my SP toys from there when I did. I did find the exact two items I was looking for--a Timmy figure and a Brian pin.

So a few hours later back home, I'm in this very chair with my pocket knife, happily opening my Timmy figure. I got the package opened, and his head fell off.

...HIS HEAD FELL OFF.

I just found out the new Kanye West will be out the very same day.

They got the name of the school wrong in that article (so did the woman doing the voice-over for the report whenit aired). It's Osbourn PARK High School, not Osbourn. Osbourn High School is a separate school in the area. The newspapers have gotten the two mixed up as well.

Yesterday, I received another Presidential Academic Fitness Award. I got it in 5th and 8th grades, too. The guy reading the names pronounced my middle name like "ahngle". It's "Angel." I don't see how you can say that wrong. o__O;

Graduation is a week from today, and it will be held outside in the football stadium. Over 600 kids graduating, too. When my oldest brother [link] graduated from this school in 2001, it rained and was held inside the GYM. My parents were in there while I and many others watched it on TV in the cafeteria. My other brother graduated from a different school in 2004, and they held theirs at the Patroit Center (indoor sports/concert arena at George Mason University).

On another note, Wal-Mart must be damned for false advertising. They had a poster and another thing in the country section saying there was a new Big & Rich CD "available now." However, it was nowhere to be seen. I checked Amazon, and it turns out it's not even out yet.

I live in northern Virginia, in a suburb of Washington, DC.
My oldest brother went to Virginia Tech for a bit, joined the Air Force, and plans on going back to Tech and finish his college education. My other brother goes to Radford University. He considered transferring to Tech but changed his mind. VT and RU are less than 20 miles apart from each other, and the populations of both schools are close as well.

So, yeah, this thing has really upset me. It's a bit of a weird feeling that something like that that has gained worldwide attention happened someplace I'm familiar with.

It was 10:30 AM (EST) that day when I came home from school, checked my local news station's site, and heard of this. Under the BREAKING NEWS banner, it said one dead, one injured, gunman still on the loose. I went and told Mom, she was shocked, and my brother at RU called and told her the same thing.
Within 20 minutes, one dead was upped to 7-8 casualties, and by the time I ate lunch, it was 21 dead. Later, it was 32. So unlike my peers in school the whole day, I watched the whole thing unfold as they day progressed.

Now for the rants.
Yes, the campus response was slow.
However, that campus is FREAKIN' MASSIVE. The best way for mass contact at college these days is via e-mail. Even so, the thousands upon thousands of students were on their way to class and other things, many of them live off campus and commute to the school. By any means, in that situation, it's difficult to mass communicate to thousands of students at once.
Also, it's located in the middle of nowhere. Had this happened at maybe George Mason University (Google or Wikipedia--it's not hard), I think response would've been better.

It bothers me that a number of non-US people are blaming this on American gun laws.
And, there is no "American right to shoot people." It is only lawful to shoot someone in self-defense. And even if you do that, you might get charged for another gun-related offense (concealed weapon, discharging a firearm in public, etc).
For Pete's sake, MOST GUN OWNERS DO NOT INTENTIONALLY SHOOT OTHER PEOPLE.
Had he gone a stabbing spree, should we question the right to own kinves?
This young man was a troubled and disturbed individual. If he was really Hell-bent on killing someone and didn't have a gun to do it with, he'd probably find some other means.

Well, a Nor'easter came, and right now there's quite a windstorm going on. It's going 50 miles per hour. The power popped a couple times last night, and I could barely sleep because it was so loud.

We hoped they'd close school today. A few schools closed because of power outages, and Fairfax County closed three hours early. In addition to power outages, there's a lot of branches and whole trees that have fallen down.

-People ignoring that personal taste in music, movies, books, etc is entirely subjunctive and varies from person to person. It's horrible when people complain about getting shit for listening to [whatever], and then flaming someone else for listening to My Chemical Romance or Panic! At the Disco.

For instance, some dude admitting he doesn't know why kids join gangs while he's trying to insist gangsta rap makes them do it. For example, trying to convince someone that Eminem isn't "anti-women", and getting a response of "So if Hitler helped an old Jewish woman cross the street..." ...just no. You can't possibly say that angry songs about his mother and ex-wife are on the same level as mass genocide. Or, "Well, I don't care. I though it was a good movie [Apocolypto]." "Who cares if Hitler was racist? He painted pretty pictures!"

-Inappropiate racial comments. [on the subject of the innocent man that was shot literally 50 times] "As long as young black men place themselves in situations like this they are going to be shot. Unfortunately, the "gangsta" life is prevalent now and disrespect for the law is rampant." Gangsta life or being black had nothing to do with it.
"Catholics have a lot of kids." "That's discrimination!" That's not discrimination, that's a stereotype, and one that is generally true.
"If everybody who likes rap got shot, there'd be no black people left.....the above statement is a stereotype and may or may not be offensive." .....WHAT THE HELL? Even though he admits it's a stereotype, it's a terrible one. Many fans of rap are not black, and there are also many blacks that think gangsta rap is offensive and portrays a bad image of black culture.
More variations of basically the same thing- "White rappers are posers." "It's OK for blacks to act gangsta, but not anyone else." "I'm not concerned about suburban white kids to listen to gangsta rap, but it influences poor black kids to join gangs/sell drugs/etc." ...there are many more on the same level, and they're all terrible.
[on illegal immigration] "Hispanics =/= Criminals" Woah, woah, nobody's saying hispanics are criminals. "Illegal" immigration is the key word there.
On another note, just because someone is interested in another culture, it does not mean that person is trying to be that particular culture.

-People who put "le" in front of words. "Le gasp", "le sigh", etc. Really, all it means is "the". It's annoying when I see this in print, too.

-"No one cares." "I think this topic is stupid." Then why are you posting? One time, I replied to a "No one cares." with "Yet, you cared enough to post. " So, the person got angry and attacked me for "making a lame comeback." Get over yourself, man.

-When someone gets defensive or offended for no apparent reason.

-Making excuses. Everybody has a bad day once in a while, but that doesn't give you a right to be a bitch to the rest of us. Oh, and being depressed/OCD/ADD/ADHD/bipolar/austic/Asperger's/or this/or that is not an excuse for poor 'net behavior, either.

-The above usually escalates to drama-whoring, which is even worse.

-"my problems > your problems" This is variable. If you're complaining that you have to get up at the ungodly hour of 7:30 AM and go to school, stop whining.

Just got exams done. All were easy. Oceanography took me 30 minutes, Government and Math took up the majority of the 2 hours, and I needed an extra 20 minutes to complete English.

If I keep an A average all year long in a particular class, I don't have to take the final. I got all A's first quarter...the second quarter is two A's and two B+'s. If the semester grade comes up as an A, I can still be exempt from the final.

I had my first post-braces dentist appointment. I have to get four fillings next week.

There a REAL PEOPLE out there with REAL PROBLEMS. There actually are kids that get abused and even killed by their parents or others, and there actually are people who plan on and commit suicide. Well, my English teacher/principal assigned a huuuuge Shakespeare project. There's a list of activities, each worth 5-35 points. The more points you have, the higher your grade is. To get an A, you need 260-340 points.

That previous rant was about one time during my lunch period, I was standing outside the second floor bathroom and some woman came by, assumed I was skipping class, and gave me an attitude.

Well, something similar happened today.

I ate my lunch, went upstairs to use the bathroom, finished that, and waited outside and stared at the clock just like I always do.
I hear a man behind me trying to get my attention. I turn around and he asks, "Are you OK?"
"Yeah."
"How'd you get out of class so early?"
"This is my lunch period."
He does not give me a chance to say anything else. He goes on with this lecture on how I wasn't supossed to stand there, I was supossed to stay in the cafeteria, if we let everybody wander around than blah blah blah would happen...and he did not let me say anything.
I opened my mouth and he puts his hands up and says to me, "Now I'm not going to argue, blah blah, etc." The bell rang (signalling the end of that lunch period) during this.
Then I said, "Excuse me, can I explain why I'm here?"
He didn't answer, but I went ahead anyway. I told that I don't eat in the cafeteria, I eat in so-and-so's office, there was a problem with people bullying me when I used the bathroom on the first floor so they gave me special permission to use the second floor bathroom, and when I'm finished I wait outside for the bell to ring...
...he just says "Thank you for telling me." and walks away.

...

...why couldn't he ask me what I was doing instead of assuming I was doing something wrong and giving me an unnecessary lecture?

For the record, you ARE allowed to leave the cafeteria during lunch. There are two cafeterias, actually--one on the first floor, one on the second floor. If you in either cafeteria eating lunch, and you leave to go to the bathroom, you're only allowed to use the first floor bathroom. I think this is because the second floor bathrooms are very close to classrooms.

Just about every day I stand there and wait for the bell to ring, some teacher or administrative person walks through that hallway. Sometimes they say hi. So it's good to know that most of them don't think I'm breaking their rules.

Anyway. Yesterday, I got my braces off. That was the most traumatizing dental experience I've EVER had. Getting teeth extracted, cavaties filled, and having gum surgery were many times more enjoyable then this.

My teeth are very sensetive, and when he popped the braces off and polished my teeth afterwards, it REALLY HURT.
Then, they needed to take photos.
Then, they needed an X-ray.

And on top of that, they needed TWO fucking sets of impressions!

I go back tomorrow to get my retainers...so, I only had a day and a half to enjoy my mouth without some sort of gizmo in it.

Argh...I had those braces on for over two years. I needed the gum surgery before they could start orthodontic treatment, and before the braces there were spacers and biteplates and lip bumpers and the this and the that.

Well, afterward, Mom told me this warranted an A-list prize, like a box set or a video game. I picked out volume 2 of Family Guy. She also got volume 4, and will give it to me when I'm finished with college writing/application shit.

Sunday and Monday, I got these 9-inch tall figures of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles from CVS. The boxes advertised them as "collectible action figures", and it had Sonic X images and said to catch Sonic X on FoxBox. Wow, 2003-2004 called.
On the toys themselves, they are copyrighted year 2000, and each one has a button (that doesn't press) on one shoe, and underneath that shoe is a speaker and a battery compartment. It seems they were supossed to talk at one point.
They're based off the original Sonic Adventure character models, and I think that's what they were made to promote, and for some reason were held back.
Of all of them, Tails is the most well-made. Knuckles can't look in front of him and Sonic's head is too loose.

I got an opal ring as a gift. Mom says an 18th birthday present should be one that lasts.

I got out of school at 10:04 that day. A little later, we went out to lunch, went shopping, and I spent a lot of money. I got Hustle & Flow, Get Rich or Die Tryin', and Monster House on DVD. I also got three CD's:

Run-D.M.C. - Raising Hell
Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back

I meant to get Monster House when I got Over the Hedge last week, but Target was all sold out of the widescreen version. Yesterday, at a different Target, they were sold out of both versions. I looked again and they had restocked, but only in fullscreen. I ended up getting it at Best Buy.

Next, I plan on getting a really big-ass CD binder. My 92-holding one has now ran out of space.

There was actually no point for me to go to school today.

This year, I have a short schedule:

Blue Days:
1 - US & VA Government
2 - Oceanography
4 - Advanced Math

Gold Days:
1 - US & VA Goverment
3 - English 12

So, I have no 5th, 6th, or 7th periods. And, my English class is taught by the principal. =O

Today, a gold day, the underclassmen were taking the PSAT, which threw the regular schedule off. We had first period for an hour and 15 minutes (only half the class was there and we watched a DVD), and no third period. Instead of third period, there was an assembly for seniors about Code of Behavior shit, graduation info, and a "So you're 18" thing. Well, I left instead of going to that. Didn't know if I could or not, but no one stopped me, so I went on out of there.

The other day, Mom came in my room and talked to me about college applications. During this, my kitty hissed in her sleep. o__O;

What the Hell was Encore, then?

I finally downloaded the Akon song, "Smack That", and hoped that by the title, it would be a song about kicking ass. I was horribly wrong. When it got to the part where Em was rapping, he was talking about going to a club and seeing a woman there.

Um, I know he can be more original than that.

I remember another person here on DA posting a rant in her journal that with the song "Ass Like That", he was reducing himself to the level of typical mainstream rap. My response was that the purpose of the song was to mock Triumph (that puppet dog), not to hit on women.

But with this new track, he sounds like typical Top 10 MTV rap.

Now, I love "Shake That", even though it's about going to the club and hitting on women, he sounds very good in it.
I HATE "Fack", already posted that rant.

I like the Encore album, and I do listen to it, but except for a few songs it's very weak.

I know he is so much better than his most recent material. If you can, I urge you to find and listen to "Biterphobia". It's from 1995 and it's awesome.

I have a lot of faith in the upcoming D12 album. It is speculated that it's called Trick or Treat and will be released on Halloween (the day after my birthday). With track titles such as "Ugly Bitch" and "DUI", I hope this is the D12 I know.

It was originally called The Ambition and scheduled to come out this summer, but as we know, there were a couple unexpected delays.
50 Cent wanted to release an album this summer, but Em told him to wait. When I first read that, I thought it must be because the D12 album was supossed to come out.

I already wrote a journal about how I felt about The Massacre. I was dissappointed in that one.

This summer, I have also gotton seasons one and two of Futurama for the same price at Wal-Mart.

I got my volume one of Family Guy one day at Target when it was on sale, it was $30 instead of the usual $40.

I really wish the Looney Tunes sets weren't $50 each. At least I'm not into 24, the sets for that series are like $55. x__x

In other news...

...I'm going to be getting a new computer.

How old is this one?

It still runs on Windows 98.
