I plan on going to the big city near me to celebrate with dinner, maybe batting cages, or arcade, or karaoke with my friends.

I had a mini party with my friends who live far away on Saturday when I went to visit them. I got a hat and scarf and gloves. The hat and gloves I used last night when the cold woke me up at about 3ish.

I GOT IN!!!! The JET coordinator called me on Wednesday morning asking me to call him back. Apparently he got my e-mail wrong and wanted me to confirm it for him, and over the phone this morning (Thursday) he let me know that I was short-listed. There was much jumping up and down in happiness. ^_^

So JC and I get to the Houston last night (Tuesday) and arrive at my aunts place. She welcomes us with open arms and puts us up for the night and gives us advice and directions on how to get to downtown Houston where our interview is.

Today comes and JC and I get up at 8am. We shower, dress, eat, and at 10am start to head down. JC's forgotten his tie in SM so we pop by a mall and pick him up a new one. Then it's on to downtown. We have our interview at the Consulate of Japan at the Wells Fargo Plaza.

IT'S THE BIGGEST FRICKIN' BUILDING IN THE AREA.

So we head on up after finding a wonderful parking space and are about... two hours early. We sign in and then head down to the Houston tunnel network under downtown, find a Subway and just sit until 1:10pm or so looking over our apps and some JET questions that we could be asked. At 1:10pm we head back up and sit in the consulate lobby and chat with the JET Coordinator and some JET alumni until JC is called in. Then I get to wait until it's my turn. We have our interviews one after the other and it's with the same panel in the same room.

So then it's my turn....

I don't really remember much of what I was asked and my answers, but they kept me in the room a good... 20 minutes. JC says that's good because if they hadn't like the answers I was giving them or just didn't like me they'd have tried to wrap it up quickly and send me on my way.

My interview panel was three women, two Japanese, one half-Japanese. The lady at one end of the table was the actual Japanese Consul to Houston. The lady in the middle I don't remember what she was, and the other lady at the end is an ex-JET ALT. The lady in the middle and the ex-Jet asked most of the questions. The consul asked a few as well. There was a lot of nodding, lots of writing, some smiles, and tons of questions.

What I remember:
*What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? - I said that I was open-minded, loved learning new things, loved learning about people and new places for my strengths; for my weakness I said that if something wasn't going as fast as I liked it to I had a tendency to take control and get it done on my own.
*Name a challenge you faced and how you overcame it? - I talked about my move to East Texas my sophomore year of high school.
*Somethings about my degree and how it didn't relate to Japan, teaching, or Japanese, and how it related to JET and my future aspirations and how those related to JET. - I mumbled something off that I think they got and were happy with about my degree being a kind of tool with which to possibly further my desire to return to school and get a degree in Japanese language, or culture, or international relations, that it was something to fall back on.
*How would you teach Japanese junior high students about the 4th of July? - I told them I'd teach the history of the holiday and how it was celebrated currently. Then they asked what I would use to teach and I said I'd use pictures and that I had a video camera and could take video of the holiday.
*What is my degree. - I explained what a HIM did.
*Asked about my arthritis. - Told them what was in the letter, it's not a problem anymore and hasn't been for a while.
*If you weren't placed in Chigasaki, would you quit the JET Program? - I told them I wouldn't, that I'd be happy where ever they would place me. That I think it would be awesome if I was placed in Chigasaki, but I'd be just as happy being in the middle of Hokkaido.
*What afterschool clubs could I run. - I said an English Club most likely. I was about to say maybe a martial arts club, but they asked me what activities I would do in the English Club. I said that we'd watch movies, read some books, mostly conversation and culture activities though. Then they asked me what movies I'd bring over with me to show. I said Disney movies and... and... and... Disney movies. I couldn't think of any other type of movie.
*I think 'Why JET?' - That JET was a way to experience Japan, the culture, the people, and the language in a first hand way that tourists never get to experience.
*What if a student asked you if the US was dangerous? If Texas was dangerous? If New York was dangerous? - I said that that was a hard question to answer, but that I'd say that I'd explain that yes, both places can be dangerous, but it depends on where you go, what time you go there at, and who you happen to run into, and that using common sense will usually help you avoid danger.

And I think that's it. It really was a blur for nearly 20 minutes. At the end of the interview they'd say I'd know my fate in about 6 weeks. So... around April I'll know if I'm in or out.

1. I have to use my own model.
2. I like to design to attitude.
2a. If you have a character I'll need: eye color, hair color and style, attitude, origin, possible styles they may wear, job, powers (if any), and your own preferences (though I like to work with my own ideas).
3. If you're using non-human or anthro charries, I can't really draw them, but I'll give it a try to add the features to my model for the design. Don't expect much though.
4. I can do color if you want me to.
5. In return, the trade part, I'll take anything from a design for one of my own charries, the coloring of some of my designs, or an original drawing of a charrie.
6. Please be patient! I've got 21 or so projects this semester, 2 internships, and 2 seminars, so I will be very busy, but I won't forget you!

You see... I was professionally treated for depression back in high school my junior and senior year (after I moved to that new one from where I had been) and part of the application was a Self Assessment Medical Form. One of the questions was if I had ever been treated for depression and if yes I needed to submit a letter in my own words about what happened and also submit a letter from my treating physician saying that it's not a problem and that I can live and work overseas. Well my treating family physician hasn't seen me in... two or three years and so in his letter he said that yes he did treat me, but he hasn't seen me in that long and so couldn't give an opinion on whether or not I could work and live overseas all right. And I did put in my letter that I've been off medication and fine since I graduated (STUPID BLOODY HIGH SCHOOL!!!). But I dunno if that'll work with them or not.... I think it will... but all this worrying about the letter has made me a nervous wreck and snappish. I guess I'll just have to send it in and cross my fingers.

Maybe another reason why I'm snappish is that my 23rd birthday is next Wednesday and I'm nervous about that.

But what I'm happy about is that my parents are coming down this weekend to visit for my birthday! ^_^

My laptop is sooooo slow nowadays, I just know I've been invaded with lots of stuff. That's what I'll be doing for a while, saving everything to CD-R and then wiping my hard drive clean. Then I need to reinstall my stuff, buy new Norton System Works and install that, ad, pop-up, and spyware blocker, and Windows Office (I had a copy of Windows Office, but I gave it to my little sister and since she lives in NM, I don't think I can get it back anytime soon). But I did manage to achieve clevage today! I went to Excalibur Fantasy Faire in Smithville, Tx and found a corset booth with lovely ladies inside who kindly let me put one on.

DAMN!! I looked HOT! I was in the smallest corset they had on site and it was laced all the way shut in front and partially in back and after "fluffing" my average sized boobies I had achieved something I have never achieved really before. Clevage.

I wanted it. I wanted that corset so bloody bad. But alas I don't have the money for it despite how bloody affordable it is compared to others. Only $70 for a Tudor style and $150 for the one I was wearing.

Must save up for corset.....
