First Strike

The glossy black warriors crept across the steel rafters, glaring at their prey with hunger and sadism. The figures were slender and inhumanly tall, their footsteps made no sound upon the surface of which they stalked. Their victims never knew when they would strike, or where. Raids had been happening across the planet and the citizens were consumed with fear.

*Info dump there. It almost sounds like the Eldar are stalking people below the rafters, but also the entire planetary population. You need to seperate the two.


For they knew not who or what was attacking the planet. No survivors were found after a location was struck. Even the trained soldiers of the planet's militia were mortified at the tactical prowess of the unknown assaults.

*'Mortified' means humiliated or embarassed. Perhaps Horrified would be better. Also, the second sentance would read better as 'The raids left no survivors'.


Although the pict recordings did show a gruesome pattern, first the lights would suddenly malfunction. Next high pitched whines of some kind of vehicle could be heard. Then, came the screams, the bloodcurdling screams of the innocent. The pleas for mercy went unanswered as the voices were cut short and the gurgling of blood followed. Afterward the lights returned and all that remained, was blood. No bodies were left the only smears of life fluids encrusting the walls and floor.

*I appreciate the attempt at horror, but its in the wrong place. Also, does every last place on this planet have pict-recorders?


“Thank the Emperor we got this job. No action and three months ’till I go back home.” said the pale skinned human as he tossed down another card. He was dressed in flak armor and a lasgun lay beside him. He was surrounded by similarly dressed men that were muttering and complaining as well.

*... and you've jumped back to the warehouse. At least, I think that's where they are. Try separating the info-dump sections out into a prologue or something. Also, why does the man think that he has a safe assignment?


Suddenly a man fell to the ground, a long needle protruding from the back of his neck. This weapon was bathed in poisons that slowly collapsed the victims lungs to cause excruciating pain to its…lucky recipient. The other men of the squad looked around nervously terrified of the coming strike.

*This just feels wrong. To me it reads like one man amongst the group just went into agonised spasms and died, and the other men just look nervously around into the shadows. Show them diving out of the way or something. As it is they're still holding their playing cards.


“S-sir what are we going to d-do?” a stocky man asked. Beads of sweat dripping slowly from his forehead his knees wavering. He glanced around and fired his lasgun at the shadow in the corner of his eye. A 6 inch needle slid silently into his eye, causing it to swell and burst into a fan fare of blood. The pain did not end there, the poisoned blood burned his face to the bone. Skin disintegrated and armor hissed as the acrid liquid bit into his chest, searing all dermal layers, leaving only a agonized body. 2 men remained.

*Who is the stocky man addressing? Repetition of the word 'eye'. Fanfare is one word. Don't tell us what's happening to the poor bleep, show us him rolling around in agony as his face dissolves.


“Emperor save us!” they screamed and opened fire, the searing beams of heat hitting the left to danced across the walls. 2 black figures dropped behind the frightened soldiers, a cruelly curved blade in each of their hands. In alien disciplined unison they plunged their blades into the backs of their victims. The alien figures drew their chitinous bodies closer to the victims, eager to feel every sliver of pain they exuded from their soft, pink, flesh. The weapons were brought up the spinal chord slowly causing the humans to cry out and then weep in agony. Seemingly satisfied with their kill they removed their blades and slit the throats of the prey, careful to avoid the warm pools of body fluids spilt at their feet.


*'Hitting the left to danced across the walls' is full of gramatical errors. Repetition of the word alien. Good description of the kill, but to me it reads like the men don't even try to resist. Oh, and Dark Eldar would gladly bathe in the blood of their prey.


“Filthy mon-keigh, they care to much about one another…and it is their downfall. Although, their screams are very soothing to my ears.” A slender figure stated. It was the Sybarite, the leader of this particular Warrior Squad. His face thin and pale. IS ALLL GOOD! Hah! I honestly have nothing to complain about except the fact there are not enough hours in teh day I have been practicing bass at least 2 howahs a day. So im getting better.
