Well, I do not draw regularly since a year ago, so, my poor skills are getting worse. I gave a look in my gallery and could see that it's full of photos and with less draws each year. In fact my gallery was stagnant last year...

I'm really not sure if I can continue drawing or I should quit for good... I have no time to exercise my skills and when I draw awfully as in the last to pieces in my gallery I fell even worse... Well, this is the point. Time to stop? Maybe I could be a not so bad photographer in return...

I decided not say “Happy Christmas”, since I know that nor everybody celebrates the Christmas… And also because for those that believe in Christ everyday is Christmas, because He is in our heart. That Brazil (and the world) of 2007 may be even better, with more justice and more democracy, food in our tables, job, respect, dignity, freedom of choice and equality for all of us, men and women. Well, well, tomorrow we go again. Most people vote because they do not have choice around here. In fact, the Government pay for a lot of advertisiments telling people that they should be proud for voting, and in fact in a normal democracy, we should. But pay attention, our politicians are really corrupt; people even do not considerer it as a flaw. The great fault is to be gay, to defend bortion and so on; rob people's money is NORMAL. For that reason, I do not have hope and no matter who wins, it's going to be the same...

Looking at the newspaper it's quite amazing to see that in serious countries a minister can fell "just" for not paying all the work rights for a babbysitter. It happened in Sweden. Here the most voted deputy of the congressman of the country is a confessed corrupt, one of the worst and a man able to say "Rape but do not kill" and "teachers (*female ones*) are not bad paid, they're not well married" and his ancient slogan was "I steal but I work for the people". No comments... So sad...

Well, a whole group of Japanese anime have debuted this month. Hataraki Man is the one I liked most, but no group is subbing it for real... So, I'm just with NHK. But I'm watching Nodame Cantabile dorama and it's really good! I love it, no subs, but very good. The only weak point is: Chiaki is beating Nodame... It's not fun. Violence against women is no joke and the manga does not show it.

I'm reading Harlequin and other romantic novel stuff. I've never read any of them till this year, I despised this kind of book without even reading, but since I got one Harlequin manga and hated it, some friends of mine pressed me to read the books and make a fair judgement. Big problem, I liked most of what I read, specially Deborah Simmons books. Bad time to begin with a new addiction, but it's too late. I even write to her and she answered me. Very kind lady, and I'm finishing her De Burgh series.

On Sunday, we, Brazilians, are going to vote. Not a new experience anymore. Since the end of the dictatorship we elected three presidents, one of them two times. I'm quite sure our current one will win. He's a consummated corrupt that continues repiting the mantra "I saw nothing, I heard nothing, I knew nothing", an absolute coward, and maybe worse an almost illiterate. As a teacher and daughter of poor people coming from ther same region of the country as the President, I cannot agree with a public person that sell the image the education is not important. edutcation may change your life for better, but our President did not use his time to improve himself, so he pass the wrong message to the young. We had the soccer/football players and the girl dancers saying it to the poor teenagers, now we have the man in charge of the country saying the same. You maybe President and not be educated even having money and time for that. So sad... But he'll be elected again, and if not I do not see any change for good.

This one was a boring election, a clean one too, no papers, no billboards, no discussions. People is almost dead... All the politicians are corrupt, so we stay with the same. I only see one great movement Pro-Life groups are trying to stop the election of Pro-Choice Congressists. The problem is, generally the Pro-Life candidates are complete scums, but for Pro-Life Catholic and Evangelical movements it's not a real problem. You may steal education and health resources, tell lies, do not try to stop child prostitution and general exploitation, but you cannot let even a raped woman choose about her fetus... Well, I'll not get so many mails after the election, this is enough for now.

out of the election, new season of Bones, full of dreadful crimes. I wish they stay with only the bones and some sex... In fact the male lead character is making sex till with the new boss. If Angela and Hodgins were not there I would completely prefer the first season. In anime, Ouran Host Club is almost gone, and I'll miss the series, but i still have Welcome to NHK for now. let's see how it ends!

I am a Jane Austen fan since I watch the movie Sense and Sensibility. I'm brazilian, so Jane Austen is not required at school, and at English course they did not make us read any of her books... Pity! She writes very well and her characters are so alive. I really enjoy her settings and how she portrays the British society of her time. I love the Brönte sisters as well, specially Jane eyre, one of my top favorites since I was a teenager, but Austen make things serious but lighter at the same time.

Well, I watch the last Pride and Prejudice movie. It was good, but the better part of it was that reading the reviews I got in touch with the BBC version from 1995. Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy is really awesome. He makes the character even more real! And Keira Knightley is nothing in front of Jennifer Ehle, that made a far interesting Eliza Bennet. If you like Jane Austen, you should watch this minisserie. It's a must!

Ah, and now I understand the only interesting part of the last Bridget Jones movie. It's in the extras, Bridget interviews Colin Firth - that is in the movie as Mr. Darcy - and she must ask him about his new movie, but she only talks about the "shirt scene". Well, it's one of the top moments of the BBC's series... fanservice for the girls, because it's made just for the straight feminine taste and it was not one time...

I'm not sure, but I think Pride and Prejudice would make a great shoujo mangá. I do not know if there's one, but some other interesting books such as Little Women were turned into anime. But returning to Pride and Prejudice: read the book, watch BBC series. And after that Mr. Darcy will always be Colin Firth.

These days I discovered a new TV Series... I'm not very good to follow series and in fact I gave up Monk and even just give a look here and there in Star Trek (*They finally are finishing NG, DS9 and Voyager in Brazil. Enterprise does not count for me*), well, but Bones is quite good. It's not a great series and the first episode I watched almost made me give up. It was about a comics' fan who was murdered. They presented the comics fans as freaks... or else I got things like this... but I was sleepy... So I givve the series a second chance. And I like it!

Bones is about a forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperence Brennan, who works at the Jeffersonian Institution and writes novels as a sideline, has an uncanny ability to read clues left behind in a victim's bones. Consequently, law enforcement calls her in to assist with murder investigations when the remains are so badly decomposed, burned, or destroyed that the standard identification methods are useless. She works with an FBI agentSeely Booth, a former Army sniper, and they make a couple that some times resembles Scully and Mulder. The other members of the cast are very good too, we have an intelligent plot most of the time, some terrible scenes and humor. Of course a intelligent heroine, able to kick some asses for real (*she does not need a gun!*) and some fanservice from Boreanaz turn it really better. In fact, Bereanaz is a best actor now and most handsome too.

Out of that, World Cup is coming to the end. THANKS GOD!!! I can't stand the changes in daily routine for long. People behave as if only football matters and streets become ghostly during the matches... But let's see, if Brazilian team behave as most of us in our country do, we'll lose the match for France. But we are relly good in football so we can beat hem easily, just forget 1998. And I wish we really can meet Portugal on wednesday... I know, I know, but Felipão is a great coach and Parreira is just mediocre... Well, let's see... Now, I'm pro-Argentina... but I know it's everything for Germany... Everything, everybody, but Argentinians do not give up as Brazilians usually do.

As I suspected they did again!!!! Low self-esteem? Were they payed to not play? We'll never know. But Parreira is a ridiculous coach as I told yesterday. Now it's more than proved. France has a very poor team but they encountered no adversary, just a shadow of all the greatness midia say they are... Ridiculous... But here goes Felipão! And I'm Portugal till the end! I hope they put France in its place!

Well the other journal got old and needed some change, the charges affair is dead or got frozen for now. I'm not doing anything really interesting in the moment, just work and some study, I have not even time or inspiration to draw... My art is getting awful and awful. The worst phase I've passed for, I suppose... Well, I'll not die for that reason.

Back at work, things are still horrible. My consolation is that I spend more time with my students than with my workmates, so I can go on. My classes this years are not enerving... just one may become a problem, but I'm not sure yet.

Ah, I got into Buffy, The Vampire Slayer again. I've just watched some episodes of the four first seasons. I bought the boxes that were released in my country, and I'm downloading the other four. The result is that my husband got addicted, and it's funny because he is so full of prejudices about movies and series but he liked Buffy with all its small and big flaws, including the trash vampires.

I continue thinking that the fourth season is weak, it almost made me let the series some years ago, but the fifth, well, I really hope I can buy the box... if they decide to sell it in Brazil because it's really good! Dawn was a good idea and some episodes are exceptional, like The Body. And we have Spike, that rocks!

I'm just opening this journal to say that I support freedom of speech and that all dogmas have History. I know that the violence would not stop if we do nothing. For that reason, I'm posting the text of a petion on line in support of the newspaper in Denmark that have publishes Prophet Mohammed. i respect the Muslins and I see they have all right to send letters and boycott products but not to set fire on embassies, consulates, nor ask for censorshipo or even the death of people involved. The petion on line for thos that want to sign is here. The text in the petition is as follows:

"On the 30th of September, the Danish newspaper Jyllands Posten published 12 cartoons in its edition, representing the Prophet Mohammed. However, in Islamic culture it is forbidden to show any drawing of Mohammed. So it isn't unreasonable that there would follow a reaction towards the cartoonists from the Muslim World.

But in a democratic society, such as our Western World, it's unacceptable that two of those cartoonists had to go into hiding after some calls in which they were threatened by dead. Some Islamic countries, such as Saoudi-Arabia, have already declared that they would boycot Danish wares and goods because of the cartoons. The Danish prime minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen was asked by a number of ambassadors of Islamic countries to undertake measures against Jyllands Posten. Fortunately Rasmussen declared that Denmark is a country in which the freedom of press is a high-valued good. And in the city of Gaza (Palestinia), a number of 15 armed men attacked the office of European Union-embassy. These are all facts that cannot be accepted as a legitime reaction against the cartoons.

Because our Western society, to which Denmark also belongs to, is in danger after those threats of an agressive anti-democratic group of Muslims; this petition has been started to show the sympathy and empathy towards Jyllands Posten and the Danish society in general. The democracy thanks you in advance to sign this petition.

One of my favortie stories of all times is Tristan and Isolde. The first complete version of this doomed love story was from the XII century. Tristan was the perfect knight, serving his old bachelor uncle, king Marc, but destiny makes him fall in love with Isolde. First she was daughter of the enemy king, and after by force of circunstances she was made his uncle’s queen.

Cursed wounds, love filters, dragons where a constant in this story. Tristan was sweet and generous, Isolde clever and capable to do everything to save her lover and herself, Marc deserves pity and rage at the same time. I was absolutely fan of this undying love story since I was twelve and no Romeo and Juliet can be better. Romeo and Juliet were stupid and died, Tristan and Isolde have no choice.

I knew there was a Tristan and Isolde movie called Love Spell from the 70’s, but I was never able to watch it. Well, I got very happy when found out that a new movie would be released in 2006. Well, but I got also worried when I knew that the director would be Kevin Reynolds, Lara Croft had the same writer and that they gave the role of the old king Marc to a handsome man that is not even 40 yet!

So I got the trailer on Saturday and gave a look. Now, I’m not worried anymore, I have fear. Isolde looks pretty old for the 12 year-old girl she should be in the beginning, they made her save Tristan from a peril that was not in te book, Marc is as handsome as the Opera Ghost in the new movie and I think they cut the dragon!

Well, I hate this new trend in Hollywood that consists in take all the magic away. Troy was almost lost because of that, King Arthur was horrible as a medieval movie. Tristan and Isolde gave me hope and I wish the trailer is not right. The story is so good to be turned into a great fiasco!

As a Maurice Druon's Rois Maudits fan I got crazy when I read about the 2005 TV series. Then I knew that there was a 1972 series and I got crazy to get it. Well, it was even better than I imagine.

The Rois Maudits collection tells about the curse Jacques the Molay, great master of the Templars, cast on the French King, Philippe IV Le Bel, and his descendants till the 13th generation. Tragedy after tragedy comes over the characters. So an advise: do not love one of them too much, or you can be very sad and very quick!

People must know that it's a play style movie, the actors and actress came from the comédie française and are wonderful at this kind of production. What amazed me most is the fact that even when the character of the book does not fit the person, the actor or actress impersonates it too well that I got convinced that they are the same person at all. One example is Georges Ser, he is Louis X Le Hutin, exactly he is in the book.

[So I was able to erase the rest without seen... I do not remember what was written after that...]

One of my favorite series - Les Rois Maudits - was turned into TV series. OK, it's French like the books and my French is awful, but I'llget the serie no matter what! And the good luck, this new serie made they release de 1972 one!
I'm going to watch Harry Potter #4. I know the books are better than the movies and that I'm not a child anymore... But I liked it! And I love to go to the movies.
Anatolia Story, aka Red River, arrives this week. I really love this manga! I can hardly wait.

Just for a few hours but when your lord is visiting the vassals should do the best to please him. So the city - Brasilia - is anomalous: many kilometers around the hotel where the great lord is it's not permitted any particular party, lake travels (*It's by Paranoa lake*), no restaurant may open (*Just imagine: it's weekend**) and no cell phones even in the Brazilian presidencial residence. A local authority appear on TV to say: It's the minimum we can do when a foreign State Chief visits us. *LIAR*! I'm living in the capital for four years now, many foreign authorities payed Brazil a visit and *NEVER* this never happened! But the Great Dark lord deserves the best, of course...



Imperador Bush está passando aqui em BSB para ver seus vassalos. Sim, é literalmente isso. Ele é o suserano-mor e nós nações vassalas... algumas mais subservientes, como o México, outras revoltadas, como a Venezuela, mas todos vassalos. Pois bem, amanhã uma parte considerável da cidade será isolada, bares, churrascarias em um raio de vários quilômetros de onde sua Majestade está - um hotel à beira do Lago - terão que fechar. Simplesmente isso. Aliás, ninguém poderá navegar no lago Paranoá também. E sabem o pior? Ninguém falou em indenizar as pessoas. Deu pena do dono de uma churrascaria: final de semana é quando a casa dá mais lucro e não vai abrir nem sábado nem domingo! E o cara que tinha uma festa particular marcada? Também não poderá reunir os amigos. E ninguém vai pagar por isso.


O trânsito também poderá ser fechado sem aviso, e um brigadeiro deu entrevista dizendo que é o mínimo que se pode fazer quando uma autoridade estrangeira vem até o Brasil. Coisa nenhuma! Estou faz quatro anos aqui, já veio Putin, um monte de autoridades árabes (*reis, presidentes, príncipes*) e outros tantos líderes de estado e *NUNCA* fizeram essa farofada. Até aula extra eu tive que dar porque um colega tenente está desde sexta-feira envolvido na recepção de nosso Imperador... Durma com um barulho desses!

My father is OK. A little sick but he has not got a cancer. So just to know it this Wednesday after almost a month waiting for a position saved all my year.

My thesis is finally progressing and my professor did not press me and my text (*part of the project*) was considered good.

Classes are over so I'll not be forced to replace any of my colleagues at work. It was very common and I lost most of my free days (*friday*) during the year. This friday was the last one!

My boss is a jerk, but he'll not be my boss (*99% in my favor*) next year.

So, let's celebrate and praise the Lord for everything.

It was not boring at all, but the situation was not comfortable too. People in Brazil has not the right to choose if wants to vote or not. You should or you'll be fined, will have problems with justice, difficult to get a job and so on. It's a right and an obligation too. Some people hate it... some people love it. I like to vote, but now I should work at my first election or referendum.

When I took my license to vote I was sixteen, I've not finished the high school yet, and I was full of juvenile excitement. For a long time I never understand why they never called me to work at the elections... But after I understood: they only call people that have finished high school and in my original registration I was not qualified. But now I'm living in another state and I had changed all my documents... so, as a "privilege" I'm in. Well educated people should work, specially when working for the government in civil life. I'm a teacher at a public school... many people in my country does not know it but military schools are public schools too.

I don't know if I'm going to love or hate. In fact, I only think people should have the chance to choose if they want to work in the elections or not. Just imagine that if someone is missing the electoral section's president could take any people at the line to work... you do it or you face justice. Not fair at all.

But what is going to be voted? The right to regularly buy firearms. In Brazil it's really difficult to buy a gun under the law and I'm not against it. Guns are not toys to be kept at home and most people does not know how to use and does not keep them in safe places. I had a 13 year old student expelled for threatening the othe male colleagues with a gun. It was just a joke for him but could have being a tragedy. Well, I'm not sure if the law is not perfectely correct and the fines and punishiments should only be raised.

The Government argument is that if you finish this kind of commerce people would be safer. Well, some people never thought of have a gun... now they do. Criminals would never give up of their guns, but common people should. Pointless I think. Education is the best way, so I should vote "NO".

But people that are defending the right to have guns are generally facists that are defending the right to kill... so it becomes like abortion: I'm not absolutely pro-choice but people pro-life are so disgusting and I fear them so much that I have to line with pro-choice for my own and women's security. Well, I'm inclined to vote "YES".

When I think of the whole thing I see it as pointless. The question is worng, of course legal commerce is not the problem, I supose less than 30% of all Brazilians have a gun, but our Government is not a reasonable one... and I'm going to miss another Sunday...

Well, real life is not like that... And I think I'm entering this period when the villains start to make your life very unpleasant. My new boss is a devilish person, and I think I'm one of his targets. I'll not loose my job, but he can make my life at work harder than it is. Well, form monday on I'll have one more class to teach... It would not be a problem if it happened to help a colegue, but it's not the point, and now I know that I cannot trust the teacher that works with me, because she took advantage of my disgrace. I'll have to take one of her classes because she have much to do and me not. Well, well, let it be!


The important thing is that I'm a healthier person, my husband loves me, I have friends that I can count and my pupils like my classes. Let the villains plot, I may not win like in a sopa opera but life will not end because of that.

I'm not a great fan of this anime or it's manga form because it's always going and coming to the same place, but I cannot deny that it was a great notice although I'm not really able to see what advantages may come from releasing a serie with more than 100 episodes in a place where this kind of market is just beginning. But let's celebrated! Oh, not that quick, dear anime fans, the disc will only come with 2 episodes and without the original Japanese sound.


Well, I really hate Brazilian companies! They make our lives a living hell! They don't have any vision and dare to lost all the money they can get from us. I'm not in favour of piracy but I'd never buy this kind of DVD, specially because they are not cheap but expensive. If I have to pay R$50,00 (*Well, if I convert it into dollars you would laugh at me*) for a DVD, let's try something that really worth it, because InuYasha or Kaleido Star dubbed and cut don't worth it! I read about this new trend in sites like ICV2 and Anime on DVD and got really sad. I'm not American nor live in USA but I buy regularly some manga published by VIZ (Utena/Red River), Tokyopop (Mars/Paradise Kiss) and CMX (Swan/Eroica) because in my country I cannot find good shoujo manga. I'm deeply worried with this "revival" of censorship.

First because it's a disrespectful to the comic and to the audience.

Second, because it can make the sells drop because you'll not buy a censored manga if you can get it in the net uncut. Ah, before I forget to say that it's really dumb to buy a manga like I's or Tenjo Tenge full of fanservice to cut it! The main public af this kind of material will not like it and the editors may not gain other public doing this.

Third (I may think in many other things to say in my own language: Shoujo House), I fear that publishers in my country start to do the same just to follow USA trend. They follow American model in almost anything so it would not be a surprise if they start (or restart) cutting manga.

It’s a herstory of the comics for girls and women in USA. At the begining it sounds very odd for me, because here, in Brazil, the identity of American comics was always connected to super heroes magazines. Well, Trina Robbins proves that one day, not too long ago (I’m a historian so 40 years is not long time ago.), things were different, women read comics and read more than some boys and men. Amazing! And more amazing is the death girl's comics.

Interesting the parallel with Japan. Men left the girl’s comics (shoujo manga) in the 60’s and the bussiness flourished, expanded ans continued till our time. In USA, men got unable to catch the new women and all the magazines died sooner or later. Sad and crazy to allienate half the working force and half of the reading public.

But now, girls are reading again, because they have manga. There’s the seme fenomenon in my country (Brazil) but publishers are not interested in seeing it... well, they may pay for it in future.

Returning to the book: there are minor problems, but it's great. Read it if you can!

I always sleep before the end or during the show, but I'm always curious to know who will win what. It's not a great deal but I'm not very young anymore. I'm not tired to count my days of course and I like to recieve "happy birthday" from my friends and family. This is important and for the first time since I got married I could stay together and celebrate. I was born around 7:30 p.m. so my birthday is only begining.


Thanks to the Carnival, I don't like this holliday but I got the chance to stay in Rio. So let be happy and enjoy my last days with my family. Next tuesday I'll go back home and not return for some months.

A year of peace, love given and recieved, possibilities to make the best choices, money to live not only to survive, equality for all and respect for the diversity.



To the world I would pray for peace, less "leaders" (What a joke!) like Bush or Lula (Brazilian president), more food for all, shelter and hope for the needed, the end of slavery that hurts mainly children and women, and no tears going down from the eyes of the parents that have to bury their sons and daughters because of the violence.

But I knew that a short test would bring worse grades than a longer one. Thelast term is ending in Brazil and most students have being approved so many of them would not mind wirh low grades, me too I could say, but it's really annoying to see a clever girl or boy doing a poor work just for laziness. And at a place that would blame a teacher for more than 40% of bad grades, I have to fear... Not that my pupils would do this shame but it would be a real nightmare to have to apply the tests again... Well, I think I have no motive to fear at all. Who would be mad enough to delay students Summer vacations? No, commander or principal would try, I suppose.

But I'm really tired and I hate this, my back aches and I have one more pack to give a look (33 tests, 6 pages each one). Better come back... My Sunday is lost...

And I'm really sad because I'll miss most of the kids... Tomorrow is our last encounter...

It's hard to breath, you feel tired since the early hours of the morning, people loses the temper very easily (and I'm a teacher so people expect that I should have infinite patience ), you drink liters of water, and I can't concentrate in my studies... All right, one day I'll move, but I expect this city doesn't become a complete desert till then... but if this kind of thing happens, I'm sure the government will not tell us the truth... Meanwhile, I'll create a groups on Orkut "I hate Brasilia". It's the best thing to do!!!!

Well, there are some good things, of couse:

My husband is back.
One of my ebays goods has arrived (Shoujo Kakumei Utena #1 from Viz) and the other was sent "by mistake" by surface mail.
This week starts the book fair. For the first time it will starts when I have some money in my pocket. I wish I may found some good deal.

I dislike it, but in fact, I like to be able to visit my parents and friends twice a year.

The best part of this two weeks vacation is: I'll take them with my husband for the first time! Happy, happy, joy, joy!!!

Now, that I almost on vacation I decided to read books that I bought and let on the shelf... Of course they're many, so it'd not be possible... but I'm gona try. The one I'm reading with great pleasure is Harry Potter and the Prisioner of Azkaban. It's a very fair and interesting literature for children and teens. Out of that,I watched the movie and finally I liked a HP movie. Well, I expect I can read The Globet of Fire soon. If I take it in my language I'll be able to get the volume faster, but I disliked the translation of names into Portuguese... Very bad and sometimes poor ideas.

Ah, I was very happy to find someone that watched both Candy Candy (a classic Japanese animation) and Slave Issaura (a classic Brazilian soap opera). Both os this television pieces are unforgettable and better than all: in many languages!
