No place for Canada in Afghanistan

Foreign invaders will never control the fierce Pashtun tribesmen of Afghanistan

The war in Afghanistan that was supposedly won has resumed -- with a vengeance. Fighting is reportedly intensifying and spreading across southern Afghanistan as resistance to foreign occupation grows. In 2001, unable to withstand high-tech U.S. forces, the Taliban leader Mullah Omar ordered his men to disband and blend into the civilian population. At the time, this column warned war would resume in about four years, just as it did after the 1979 Soviet invasion. Now, Taliban forces have taken the offensive against U.S. and NATO troops, often employing deadly new tactics like roadside and suicide bombs, learned from Iraq's resistance. Significantly, the Taliban have been joined by many other political and tribal groups. Prominent among them: Hisbi Islami, led by former CIA protege Gulbadin Hekmatyar -- the most effective guerilla leader in the 1980s anti-Soviet jihad -- and renowned mujahadin leader, Jallaludin Haqqi.

Small numbers of foreign jihadis have also come to fight. Most important, growing numbers of "khels," or clans of the Pashtun (Pathan) tribe -- the world's largest tribal group, numbering 40 million -- have joined the resistance. Pashtuns comprise half of Afghanistan's population of 30 million; 28 million more live across the border in Pakistan. The U.S./NATO campaign is increasingly directed against warlike Pashtun tribes like the Afridi and Orokzai, and their civilians, rather than against so-called "Taliban terrorists." Only fools pick fights with Pashtuns. Until recently, millions of dollars in monthly cash bribes from the CIA to Afghan warlords kept key areas under the nominal authority of the U.S.-installed Hamid Karzai regime. But that authority barely extends beyond the capital, Kabul.

Bodyguards 24/7

Karzai's popularity among Afghans is best judged by the fact that he is surrounded 24/7 by 100-200 U.S. bodyguards kept just out of range of western TV cameras. The Soviets built schools, clinics, and roads in Afghanistan, held "democratic" elections and branded the resistance "Islamic terrorists." The U.S./NATO occupation follows an identical pattern, complete with candy for kids, platitudes about women's rights and nation-building, and rigged elections.

But the westerners won't be any more successful in winning hearts and minds of Afghans than the Russians -- particularly once Washington begins to cut back on the mission. The biggest difference between the Soviet and U.S. occupation is that since 1989, Afghanistan has become a total narco-state. Close to 80% of national income comes from export of opium and morphine/heroin. Washington's allies (the Karzai regime and Afghan communists) are believed to be up to their turbans in the drug trade. Sending troops to Afghanistan was marketed to Americans -- and Canadians -- as a crusade against terrorism, with nation-building as a sub-theme. Blaming "terrorists" for the current upsurge in fighting obscures the natural and inevitable growth of resistance to foreign occupation.

Unbelievable claims

Claims by Washington and its allies that political progress is being made in Afghanistan are unbelievable. Many Afghans working for the foreign occupation are secretly in touch with the resistance. Of course. Afghans know one day the Americans, Canadians, and other foreigners will go home, just as did the Russians, British and Alexander's Greeks. What Canada hopes to gain by waging a 19th-century style colonial campaign of "pacification" straight out of the pages of Rudyard Kipling, against wild Pashtun tribesmen in the mountains of the Hindu Kush, remains to be satisfactorily explained.

Mood: tough luck

HI ALL MY FRIENDS AND PASSERS BY

How's it going? Long time no see/hear from/to.

A few weeks ago, my wrists started to just kill me due to typing too much and arthritis. I decided to take a break from all things computer and hand related. Tricky. Still no luck. Couldn't afford to replenish my supply of Glucosamine Sulphate/MSM until very recently so my hands are only gradually getting better.

Then my sis and family arrived early for her summer vacation - very depressed and very ill with super bad migraines. Throughout this period mine have also continued to get worse and more consistent again! ARG! At least the CT-scan and neurologist's tests all checked out. Now I'm on yet other medications which make me even more sleepy and exhausted. Don't you feel sorry for me? NOT!!!

Meanwhile, I've got lots of other non-computer related projects that I'm working on.

Please forgive me if I haven't answered your messages or commented on your fantastic works. **Please write to me again if I have failed to answer a really important message.** Meanwhile, I'll be coming to the site only occasionally as hands permit to try and catch up in bits and pieces.

I'd like to thank all the commentors as well as the admin and the artists who participated in this discussion. Sorry but I still think this photo was in very poor taste but because dA isn't a democracy, there's not much a mere member or subscriber can do about it. Since this is pretty much a free/paid site though and dA relies on our subscriptions to operate, it seems to me that we should have a say it how things are done around here and more and more people are getting together to politely inform the staff of this. is one person who is carrying on a dialogue with other members to encourage change at dA. Meanwhile, life continues apace. Sometimes, it goes at such a pace, I can't keep track of everything though for the most part, much of my life remains in cyberspace both here and elsewhere/when on the net.

I've had some family surprizes both good and bad and having to face some of my responsibilities. What a tough life, eh?

So if I've been less than present here please let me apologise. Inspiration has been down a bit too so I haven't been posting quite as wildly as I was for awhile there either. Hoping that this too will pass and that a brighter future will be in store for us all!

Phraktalous

Then I was asked by Rodrigo at Phraktalous to contribute a parameter for the ATC Tweak Challenge. Whoo hoo! This was a total thrill - never did I think that I'd be chosen for this either!

The parameter I chose is for "Outside the Apple" which was one of the first Apo flames I made with the new Apo 2.04beta. I had no clue what I was doing so I'm sure ppl can come up with something way better using these parameters which I've already sent to Phraktalous and I guess will be posted in the near future. I'll update this journal when the notice is posted at Phraktalous !

Duh! Oops. I was supposed to be navigating....If there weren't 2 events going on in town here, we'd be staying at the Hilton for a cheaper price...at least it has a pool though it's unheated!

Dressed up like a pretend Thelma and Louise, even though I've never seen that iconic movie! Pink pants and a pink and black tight top with pink flip-flops with pink and white flowered soles! Moi! PINK! Hard to believe (for those who know me!).

Sis wore a lovely pair of faded denim capris (she's a very slim, hot looking gal for her age! ) and a tight turquoise t-shirt.

We sped just fine from Dallas here though in under the Mapquest predicted 3 hours and 25 minutes. And to be totally, totally honest, Mapquest wouldn't allow the exact address, just the zip code thus the directions, though narrated meticulously by me were vague and perhaps even incorrect, so that was another part of the problem. When we stopped to ask directions and of course, go to the bathroom (that's Canadian for going to the loo), the good ol' boys couldn't help out either....long story...

And we checked in, I've stayed in worse places but not for $160/night USD. This place is perhaps one eighth of a step above a Motel 6. In fact, I think the one we passed looked better than this but it was booked. This place was the only place not booked when sis finally made one last weather check and we found out that it was going to be freezing in Galveston!

So now, I'm typing in the lobby, I'm ready to eat, starving to tell the truth and sis is getting ready in the room and we are going to eat delicious food soon after spending an hour or so at the pool!

HEY Y'ALL

Wassup Baby Girl as they say here!!!! Well some people do!

Have been having a great time - not doing much but taking a vacation from the vacation which is my life! Still have to cook, clean and put the kid to bed!

Actually doing some of someone else's work (my sis's) isn't nearly as tormenting as doing my own!

The computer set up is very uncomfortable here so I have been able to break its hold on me considerably which makes me homesick for my own sweet system.

Trying not to think of homesickness because when I get back to Vancouver (late April 13th for those I've left in confusion) it will be wintry again (no doubt) for another 2 - 3 months.

Here the weather has been variably warmish but we've had two gloriously sunny days so far (I guess that doesn't sound too great since March 23 but more than I'm used to!) and yesterday it was HOT enough to lie out and get in the pool! Yum! Seriously!

Last week Thursday and Saturday, sis and I went out dancing to this cool club called Memphis and danced a fair bit! The bands were great and it was quite the thrill to be told in person that you are beautiful and have nice lips and hair etc! !!!! I'm not lying! Looks like I might even have a date! Ha! Sure@#$**^%!!!! Why are guys so unreliable - say one thing and do another?

Response from guys and girls on that question [or vice versa] would be most amusing!!!!!!!!

We've cooked some great meals and gone out to some great restaurants. We're going clubbing again Tuesday - a fun excuse to put on a dress for the first time in around 10 years! and be oggled - not googled for a change!

As for Galveston, we've just received too many unpleasant (no offence to Galvestonians) comments about the place and its unreliable wind and weather and so since Corpus Christi and South Padre Island are too far to drive to and too expensive for us to fly to, we're looking at Austin now. Just two days left to cancel the Galveston (always liked that dumb Glen Campell song though I disliked him and the rest of his silly country muzac!) reservations and find some place cool and reasonable to stay in Austin - preferably with a pool and kitchenette. So please let me know so I don't have to do another ton of net research! My sis really needs a holiday from her non-holiday life too!

Hey Y'all!

I'm here now and arrived safely and without unpleasant incident on the 23rd at 8:00pm and my sis wasn't there yet! Luckily she came only a few minutes later - hadn't even picked up my bag yet! So all's well.

Unfortunately for the first few days the net was down here and one of the computers wasn't working so this is the first time I've had to update.

We survived the birthday party of my 15 year old niece and all her buddies and neighbours.

Have already had delicious Texas steak barbecue and then chicken barbecue thanks to my bro-in-law's excellent skills - now he's gone for 2 weeks off to work, which will mean less cooking for me. Yay! But less barbecuing too...

So far the weather has been volatile! Who knows what to expect from day to day - just like Vancouver but warmer! (I won't like but I've had a more or less severe migraine everyday so far! Dang!)

Anyway, I won't have daily access to the net and I won't be able to answer all your notes and comments, especially your Deviancies and Journals! Sorry! but probably none of you will notice amongst the storm of other messages that you get! So don't worry if you can't answer my messages either for this short time!

Still looking for a camera, actually looked at and sort of tested out some at Frye's and Costco but of course the clerks weren't very helpful. So if anyone has any more ideas on that, let me know. Don't worry if you already sent me some advice - I'll go back and look that up too before I order one off the net. Anyone know any cheap camera websites - please let me know about that too!

We are still thinking of leaving Dallas for a weekend...looks like Cancun isn't $99/flight but goes up to $250 with taxes! Ridiculous! So I guess I'll have to do some net-hunting or we'll be likely to just drive to Galveston which everyone says isn't very pretty! But cheaper. Dang!

Any ideas on that are much appreciated!

Hey to all my friends and anybody I haven't met yet! Pretty soon, I'll be saying "Y'all"!!!!

DALLAS, TEXAS, USA EDIT(If anyone has any suggestions about where to visit in and around Dallas - restaurants, bars with live music and older crowd - not c&w, lakes, parks, trees, weird buildings, let me know. Also was contempating going down to Galveston but hear the water is still all roiling about. I just have to see AQUA water - so if you know of any cool places like that on the Gulf, let me know about that too! Thanks!)

Only 1 1/2 days until I'll be in Dallas, Texas!!! I can't believe how fast the time has gone since the decision was made nearly 2 months ago, the time I bought the ticket and now! Wow! And it's all thanks to the live entertainment that you here on dA have provided me with! It's thanks to you that the time zipped by so enjoyably.

Though my initial frenzy of commenting, befriending and viewing has slowed to a slightly more balanced pace, I'm still really thankful to everyone I've met and hope to continue talking with as many people as possible. Let's hope I can manage to type shorter comments!

No house-cleaning or packing is getting done around here! Like I really care! I'll have probably 3 cat and computer care-givers taking turns while I'm gone so I was hoping to tidy up enough space for another person to move around in my studio apartment. And because it's been so cold here, I've done nothing in the garden. Hope I have the inclination and energy when I get back.

Last time I went to visit my sis who lives in Dallas (she and her family ended up having to leave their glorious suburban Vancouver aerie, due to the lack of jobs here and her husband getting one there, now live in an even fancier house!), I took my camera, but only took a few very mediocre shots with my ancient (circa 1992) Olympus IS2000 analog camera. Very disappointing. First time I went down there, I was too ill to even bring my camera.

This will be the third time, I've managed to organise things and I'm hoping to actually buy a digital camera! Yay!

Having done some research, now I'd really like to hear about the cameras you use, how long, where you got it, how much, why you like it, specs if you can explain them to a lay person, special features, interelationship with the computer, camera related links AND samples of your best art shots. Please don't send me any of your links to stock, really abstract shots, nudes, portraits or other people's stuff.

What makes one of your most complicated and expensive tools so great and/or popular? I know I can get a mid-range type SLR digital (not a compact) in the States for under $300USD these days and I can't afford to pay much more than that. It has to have space for around 200 or more exposures. I know nothing about digital cameras as yet - so assume you are teaching me something new!

Possibly I will feature some photos you've taken, starting off like I did with the Censorship Project...I had to really prod some people to get them to act and that was kinda self-defeating, don't you think! STORTROOPERS [link] where you can make your own pixel-art and then he made his own cast of dA All Stars.

It's very very easy to do! It's a little Java applet, so you must have Java (free) which you must have to use the doll-dressing webpage. Don't worry about feeling too silly (I don't mean that as an insult! Lol!), but consider it experience for dressing your kids or grandkids. Warning! The base bodies on this site are completely naked, without any clothing at all. But you can't see their brains. There is even a skeleton body base!

These characters are in the Creative Commons [link] , which means you can make your own, save them, customize them, use them for your avatars or whatever but you must credit these "storTroopers" [link] for your creations no matter what you do to them.

What’s happening in Afghanistan is leading up to what’s going to happen in Iran but there’s also some other unexplainable stuff going on too. I don’t mean to generate a big discussion here, just give you some info and maybe a little understanding which seems nearly impossible these days!


OK Folks< I haven’t done a great research project but this is some information I’ve received via a political newsletter. If you don’t think art and politics should go together, stop reading here! If you don’t think that harsh words are needed and feelings are going to be hurt, stop here.

For my dear Canadian, American and Islaamic relatives and friends and people I know of a variety of religions and political leanings and countries, I ask that difficult request: Please don’t take this personally. The word “they” may be taken to refer to certain general groups, not individual persons – who will generally be named exactly! I try to love (at least theoretically) everyone in the world even though they may be against me!

I don’t bear any bad feelings to all the persons I know and include myself as responsible for allowing these continuing initially non-UN sanctioned violent actions to occur. I can remember studying as a child about Nazi Germany leading up to the war and wondering how individuals could sit by and LET things these things happen! [They even showed us films of the war and inside of the gas chambers in action, theoretically so that we’d remember and never do or allow such things again! Imagine – we were 12 years old! Coming from a religious background - a so-called “peace-church”, I saw not one stitch of glory in war, either from the victors, the victims or the by-standers. At that time, though this justifies nothing, there was at least some sense that civilians should be spared. Then Dresden, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were all blitzkrieged, giving birth the the current –scorched earth policy taken by many military forces.]

And now I understand perfectly because even though I am doing something (letters, petitions, demonstrations and so on), the landslide toward more war continues and it seems my actions are futile but I can’t give up. And incidentally, lest there be too much confusion, in War II, Canadians enlisted several years before the Americans joined in too. So we have to get over these petty ideas about borders and nationality and who did what when and why and what name or none that we choose to call God. I think we must overlook these “differences” as much as possible no matter how much they bother or even madden us. Just remember that everyone has the right to believe what they will, as long as it doesn’t harm them or anyone else. But of course, that’s only what I believe!

Here’s some good news about what you can do and it only takes a nanosecond if you have one of those auto-fill functions on your system: go to Stop War on Iran, read or not the main info, or just go directly to the petition page and auto-fill your letter to American President Bush and Congress! This is an action that anyone can participate in regardless of location! [We should have a Canadian petition soon!!! There may be one in existence so if I stumble across it, I’ll let you know!. I won’t pretend to be any sort of political or historical expert (or any other kind really!) but I’ve been listening with half an ear to news about Afghanistan. The reasons for this is that since sometime before the Iraq “conflict” began, about 300 Canadian troops (that was only the initial number) were deployed there as a “staging point” to launch the attacks on Iraq. People may not have heard this but in fact, it was clearly stated in all the news – just not glaringly so. There have even been documentaries made about Canada’s activities there.

March 8, 2006 Women (and all) Say NO to War

Today I received an email from my main political newslist about Code Pink [link] . This is a U.S.A. based organization of primarily women (BUT OF COURSE MEN ARE WELCOME TO SIGN AND JOIN. IN FACT HUGO CHAVEZ JUST SIGNED RECENTLY) who want to stop the wars not only the horror in Iraq but everywhere on our planet Earth.

They use the colour pink to epitomize their passion to bring peace to everyone no matter what their country or belief. They want US ALL, women, men and children of all nationalities to join together to say no to war [link] sign this petition (of course) [link] and join in a world wide communion on International Women’s Day March 8, 2006!!!!! It seems that I am befriending people and then somehow they are not turning up on my list.

Please give me a shortcut here and let me know: if you accidentally devwatch someone twice do they disappear from your watch in the same way that fave pics do?

Is it possible to have a cap on the number of people who watch you? There's been a case where I tried to put the person on my list (they already had over 9000 watchers!) and the system wouldn't let me...meanwhile I am awaiting an explanation from the person in question....

So if any of these problems have happened to you, let me know, especially if I have put you on my watch then removed you. I haven't purposely removed anyone from my watch ever!

(EDIT: decided to go through my fave gallery and see who I faved to make sure that I have those people on my devwatch. I just going to do that without messaging each person. Hope you don't mind!)

Where Do We Go?

I was just talking to my new friend WolfSorcerer about this image ‘Where Do We Go From Here?’ and it really reminded me of a) the Japanese red-headed crane [tancho tsuru] and the song ‘Where Do We Go?’

The one I am thinking of is pretty heavy metal or alternative rock, came out some years ago (10?) and is sung by one guy using a lot of falsetto – he repeats the refrain, “Where do we go”? numerous times and goes into a classic weavy (up and down the scale) sounding solo on the word “go” at the end.

He sounds agonised. It’s gotta be somebody like Guns and Roses (but it’s not them), Maybe Pearl Jam? Anyway, I looked it up on LimeWire and came up with over 200 songs related to that lyric! So if anyone can help me here, I’d appreciate it, it’s driving me nuts! And I’m already nuts!

Yesterday I posted one of the pics my daughter in law took while we were at my aunt's picking berries last summer! I know I've got some more from that day too but I can't seem to find them in this mess after the 5 floods and all. Just don't seem to have the wherewithall to start sorting it out AGAIN! Anyway, it was a great day - not too hot for berry picking and not raining which in and of itself is a miracle in the Lower Mainland of BC!

Then one of my watched friends - Andréia Solha [link] (sorry I haven't figured out how to do all that fancy stuff here yet!) - check out her amazing site - mentioned raspberries again.

Then what do you know! I took out the last bag of frozen raspberries, nuked them for a minute, put on some milk, sugar and maple syrup (a Canadian speciality - lol!) and what a lovely desert! I highly recommend it!

Anyway, it made me feel quite a bit better than I did earlier today!

Yum, raspberries! My second favourite berry after blueberries!

And here's a little note for those who are cat fanciers!

As far as Susan is concerned - the one at the bottom - she's the one from Thailand. The Aby is from the mid-east, thought to be what is now Ethiopia. It's true Susan's tabby (stripping effect) type, called 'a ticked tabby' or 'a ticked agouti' (=banded) is somewhat similar to her far away cousins [link] . Lora is a broken mackerel tabby or near spotted tabby. Her back reminds me of trout patterns.

People have been asking me a lot of questions about cats, tabbies and so on, and I found there are some misconceptions, so I luckily found these websites that explain both the details of tabby markings [link]
and about the Abyssinian in particular [link] .

Both sites also have a lot of info on all the other accepted breeds (in the CFA) and explains what constitutes a pure breed and why it's unlikely that our domestic cats are really related to pure breeds at all any more - they are under strict breeding programs - much more likely to be kept indoors (or in an enclosed cattery) so they don't interbreed with local populations, as many dogs are let to do. (I'm not as saying it's impossible though!)

A typical registered show cat could go for as much as $5000 or more these days, with registered breeders costing almost as much. Pure-bred cats that aren't "good enough" (that is, they don't conform to the breed standard closely enough) to show or breed and those that are bought without the intention of breeding are sold under contracted conditions that include having the cat neutered. If you don't present the neutering certificate from the vet, the cat can never be registered and if you allow it to breed, the progeny can't be bred or shown as registered cats either.

Sorry to sound like a cat snob but believe it or not, I was actually on the outskirts of the cat fancy when one of my girlfriends was really into it. We co-owned a Devon Rex (looooong story), which I showed once! I had a registered "pet stock" Persian too. I did go to a number of cat and dog shows during the 80's and read up on the whole thing and totally got into it before I began to think that maybe there were enough cats in the world! It's a tricky business.

I just sent this email to our local Member of Parliament, Libby Davies, but from what little I could gather on the news, the NDP did fairly well, at least in BC. We need a new strategy. Thank God the Cons only came in on a minority so maybe the other parties will be able to control him somewhat.

And now we have the DEVIL (Stephen Harper or Satan from Hell) for Prime Minister. Prepare for big trouble in Canada ya stupid bunch of Canadians who voted for him!!! Sorry and no offence but you don't know what you're asking for! OOOOOO NOOOOO, Mr. Bill!!!!

So I took off the old signature and put my gallery links on it again but somehow I can't get enough room to put all my (4) groups in there too. What's the trick? Anybody? I don't quite know how to look it up in the helpdesk section or maybe I'm a lazy slob!

Also, just this evening I got my new (used) Sony Trinitron CRT 17"!!! This is totally exciting for me but probably nothing for most folks. It was only $50 CDN so I can't complain. It's great having the larger size and the brightness and all and we used all the monitor settings then the WYSIWYG colour setting program but I still find my images to look very washed out. Most websites look fine though. So maybe I need to concentrate on making my colours look brighter or just using brighter colours? I WANT brighter colours!

The Conservatives are running hard to win this election. Tory leader Stephen Harper is acting like a new man – trying to convince Canadians he is likeable and compassionate, not the hard-right ideologue he was foryears. And since the Liberals will probably lose several seats in Quebec to the Bloc Quebecois, the Conservatives could very well form a minority government (in partnership with the BQ).

Who knows: they could even win a majority. All of the progress we’ve made under minority government would be lost, and then some, if the Conservatives form the next government.

Here are ten good reasons not to vote Conservative in this election:

AUTO INDUSTRY:
Conservative leaders have said for years that they don’t support targeted, pro-active measures to win investment in key industries. All we need is corporate tax cuts, they say. Under Conservatives, we never would have won $5.5 billion in new auto investment last year – and we won’t win similar projects in the future. Our auto industry would be on the ropes.
PENSIONS:
Most Conservative leaders came from the former Reform Party, which wanted to abolish the Canada Pension Plan and replace it with private RRSPs. Instead of a secure public pension, you’d have to cross your fingers and hope you picked the right mutual fund. Today Stephen Harper is trying to downplay this approach, because he knows Canadians want secure pensions. But we know where he really stands.
TAX CUTS:
Ottawa will enjoy $50 billion in surpluses over the next 5 years. The Tories would spend all of that, and then some, on tax cuts. Most tax cuts would benefit profitable corporations and high-income earners. But what we really need is government to do its job:fixing health care, improving education, protecting the environment.
ENVIRONMENT:
The Conservatives opposed the Kyoto agreement from the beginning. They are so loyal to business, they will not support even the mildest controls on pollution.
FREE TRADE:
It was the Tories who brought us free trade with the U.S. in 1988, under Brian Mulroney. And the Tories are still the biggest cheer-leaders for free trade – despite the broken promises of that deal, and the other trade deals that came after it.
CHILD CARE:
To keep their hard-core moral conservative supporters happy, the Tories still campaign hard against public child care. Instead, they promise small tax breaks to families with young children – instead of organizing a decent, comprehensive child care system. On this issue, they are truly living in the past.
IRAQ:
The Tories would have sent Canadian troops to Iraq, anxious to support their ally George W. Bush. And Canadian troops would still be there, dying, today.
HEALTH CARE:
Here, too, Stephen Harper is trying hard to sound non-threatening. But the Conservative record is clear: they will support the expansion of private health care delivery, arguing that the “market” is always more efficient.
SAME-SEX MARRIAGE:
The Supreme Court ruling makes it clear that same-sex couples have a constitutional right to equal marriage. And a free vote in the Commons this year should have settled this issue once and for all. But Conservatives want to open it all up again – and potentially overrule our Charter of Rights in the process.
BALLISTIC MISSILE DEFENCE:
Here, too, the Tories’ devotion to the U.S. government would have gotten us involved in a dangerous, technically risky venture: putting weapons in space, right above Canada.

Canadians have made some important progress in the last 17 months, under minority government.
Over the Conservatives’ constant objections, the federal Liberal government – supported by the NDP – has expanded
spending on health care and education, strengthened labour rights, implemented a national child care program, and respected equal rights for all.

Another Liberal minority, supported by the NDP, could do more.
But if Stephen Harper succeeds in convincing Canadians that his party is really moderate and compassionate, then these hopes will be crushed. We’ll be going backwards again: undermining public programs and labour rights, and giving more power to business.

On January 23, cast your vote to protect the interests of you, your family, and your community.

People often wonder why I usually post a whole bunch of similar pictures or a series at the same time. It may not be to everyone's liking.

If that's the case, here's what I do when I see a lot of deviations have been posted at the same time by one person: go directly to their gallery, look at them all over, only view and/or comment/fave the ones you like, delete the others. Comment when you fave.

In my case, I think I have some reasons but no offence if you disagree - it's just my idea. I posted a small explanation in my last post in the gallery, Imitrex: [link] (my allery), in case you are interested.

Also you may find that I am quite verbose and will likely write long comments on your sites which may or may not be appropriate - if not, you can gently let me know cuz I'm senstive that way. Lol! It's true!

But if you find something interesting, it's likely that I'd never kept a copy and it's the greatest answer to a question that I've been asked several times and might be better posted in my journal - please send it back to me! That is, if you happen to see anything decent, even a rant.

My primary task of finding a tiny cheap place in Vancouver that takes cats and smokers (ok not tobacco) keeps getting put on the back of the stove. (Has to be under $500 to move and of course suit some specifications - but if you hear about something - preferably government subsidised, email or note me!)

So I'm living way beyond my means and dreaming that one day I'll win a net contest, the lottery (though I don't buy tickets) or be discovered at dA. Har har har!

On top of being sick every day since I don't know when (which really puts a person behind their imaginary goals!), my computer had to crash violently a few days ago. So there's another little set-back. This time, I lost only the very last thing I was working on - ApoUF collage.

I don't have anything ready to post but am working on it...

Also way behind in deviations, messages, etc.
