Sooo, I just randomly decided to google one of my made up character's names, just to see what came up, you know? His name is Yiron; I made it up, based loosely off of Orion, and later based a good bit of his culture off of that of Israel/Hebrew culture . . . . He also is a wine connoisseur.

And then I found this:
Galilee Mountain Yiron

"A blend this year of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Syrah. Young and vibrant but already showing complexity, depth and elegance. Dark royal purple, with firm but nicely integrating tannins, judicious wood and layers of spicy currant, anise, tar and cedary oak aromas and flavors blending nicely on the long finish. Elegant and deep. Drink now-2010."

.... wow..... God, you're cool XD (especially since that quote is pretty much a character description of Yiron)

So, without further ado *drumroll*:

Midnight-Fire: I really like this one. It's actiony, with lasers and guns. That had to have been a tough angle to draw, yet she pulls it off well.

The Lonely Tree: This one's simple, and not in color, but I love the style, how she drew the tree, the branches, the grassy hill, just the over all composition. It's really relaxing.

Taking Flight: Wings + Actiony Pose + Cool Costume + Lean Men = win, in my book at least.

Unnamed Race Concept: This is a really cool creature design, sort of like a hybrid of a cat, snake, raptor, and jackal. Very fascinating.

Well! That was fun. I'm back in school now so productivity = O_o We'll see how it goes. Though I still have 1 commission left to finish- I am working on it, I promise!

I uploaded fanart . . . . of something popular. . . . Quick! Check! Did hell freeze over??

>_>

Okay, enough mocking myself. So yes, I uploaded fanart . . . for Kingdom Hearts 2 no less . . . .

I'm a bit of a Final Fantasy fan, have been for awhile now. The makers of FF have a knack for making good stories and good characters. While I've been playing the KH games mostly for the Disney-esque nostalgia and the gameplay (dozen+ arial combos FTW), I found the Organization characters a bit of a welcome surprise from the relative simplicity of the Disney charas and Sora + co. They're a lot more complicated (at least to me), smart, conniving, slick, and you can't ever be quite sure who's side they're on (as they play both sides quite frequently while really being on their own side) . . . .And somehow, I never can quite consider them villains.

Sooo, when I decide I like a character, I like to find cool pictures of them to favorite. Unfortunately, in my search for Demyx fanart . . . I didn't really find anything that wasn't sketchy, comic, odd style, slash, or any combination of the four. O_o Rather irritating really,Then at some point it occurred to me that I could just draw what I wanted, since no one else seemed to have already. So I did. [link]

This picture might just hold the record for fastest serious picture ever drawn by me. In fact, I think it does. I started it on Thurs . . . finished it on Mon. Which is . . . not normal for me.

Almost every serious writer/artist I know or know of, has music paired with their characters and stories. I don't know what it is about us human beings that so attracts us to music, I just know it does something to us . . . get inside of us, takes us higher than the moment, etc.
I know I'm getting serious about a character when I start looking for a song to fit him/her. I tend to be picky. The lyrics must fit as must the musical style. If it a theme-song, it must explain them. This is hard to find. A lot of my characters don't have themesongs, because even though I have 900+ songs, I still can't find the one that explains them as they are. Sometimes, I don't even know if one exists. But that is beside the point.
Examining a character's song or songs in like a window into their soul. The author knows them far better than the reader ever shall (one hopes, if the author is doing their job) and finding that one particular song is like opening up that soul a bit more for the reader. I love knowing what other people choose for their characters; I love chosing the songs for my own (provided I can find what I'm looking for) With that said, I felt the odd need to list a few of my characters and a few of their songs.

Yiron Flechyr (from Argalian War/Tarvalas):
Theme Song: From the North by Runrig.
I remember the day I found this song, vividly. I'd been trying to find one that fit his character far too long and was just sampling Runrig songs on CMradio, when this one came on. I knew instantly. It was his. It's still one of my favorite songs.
It's got synthesized instruments, a fast beat, soul, power, longing. Even the rawness of the singer's voice fits. And the lyrics send chills up my spine. Except for a few minor discrepancies (Yiron's not from 'the north' on his planet, and horses have no place in a song about him), the song fits him better than anyone but me could know. It even contains forshadowing of the second book! It's incredible . . . . a gift of God I would have to say. Runrig, you guys don't even know.
Without You Here by Goo Goo Dolls.
Another song I stumbled on. In fact, I wasn't even thinking of Yiron when I first heard it. Then, as the lyrics gradually began sinking in, I came to realize just how well it fits him and the woman he comes to love, Ahriel. The muscial style fits fine, and again, the rawness in the speaker's voice seems such an intergral part of the song. The lines "That love could kill the pain, Truth is never vain, It turns strangers into lovers, And enemies to brothers, Just say you understand, I never had this planned" also give me the chills. There's more in there than just him and Ahri. It even bleeds out into the rest of the story. This one, I must say, caught me by surprise.

Kael (The Traveler):
Kael doesn't technically have a theme song. He's a complex character who's story spans quite a long time and a lot of character development. Thus, each 'theme song' is from a particular phase of his life.
Lonely Soul by Unkle.
I found this one thanks to a trailer for Assassin's Creed. As soon as I heard it, I thought "Kael". The song is haunting, almost resigned, yet longing. The pain, the struggle of living is very evident. It fits Kael in the latter part of his life, after every thing has fallen apart (but before the story starts).
Work by Jars of Clay.
This one is chilling. It fits a part of the actual novel very, very well, and the condition of Kael's soul therein. I can't really go into without spoilers, but let's just say, his eyes are opened to what he is, and this song perfectly describes his reaction. "Do you know what I mean when I say I don't want to be alone?" Chilling . . . .
Angels from the Ashes by Runrig.
This is his story's themesong. It's an instrumental, but an absolutely gorgeous one. It's simple, only a piano, but beautiful, and in it, I hear a hint of eternity. No name I could give the piece would fit Kael's story better than the one its performers gave it. "Angels from the Ashes" = The Traveler's theme.

Ohin (An unnammed story I'm currently writing. I need to post one of his pics)
Theme Song: Sick Cycle Carousel by Lifehouse.
The song is a tad gritty. That entire story is gritty. Gritty, realisticly so, and a little hopeless. Not entirely, and it gets better as it goes on, but for a large part of what I've plotted, Ohin is facing the fact that where he once thought he could do anything and knew everything . . . . he seems to no longer be able to do anything right. Still he tries, and still he fails . . . . and where it final...

I wanted to update my journal, so I took this from *Rynnay. Procrastination FTW!

1) What's your character's name? Yiron Flechyr
2) How old is he/she? 54 yrs, but where he lives, that’s still young. Looks about 30ish.
3) Is your OC a boy or girl? Male
4) What's his/her race? Human (Jade-Eye Genetic Engineering)

Appearance:
1) If this character were to suddenly become part of the 3D world, and ended up in a heavily-populated area, how many stares would he/she get? Not many from appearance anyway. I could see him doing things to make people stare just because he likes weirding people out, but he does that anyway.
2) Is your character considered normal in his/her own world? Somewhat. His jade eyes make him a bit unusual, as does the fact that he’s a Tarvalian very far from Tarvalas, but otherwise, he’s normal. So they think, anyway.
3) What would be his/her most recognizable feature(s)? The jade eyes, perhaps his long brown hair, but mostly the jade eyes. He tries not to be recognizable
4) Would you consider your OC as attractive? Um, YES

Personality:
1) Temper: Yiron’s temper is very hard to set off. Extremely. He gets indignant if the need calls for it, but he’s very level headed. The only time I ever recall him actually losing it was when his father humiliated him in front of a woman he liked, and that never happened twice. (Him losing his temper anyway, his father was a better fighter than him at that point.)
2) Does your character ever get depressed? Occasionally, if he’s very tired and is prevented in some way from sleeping. It never lasts long.
3) Leader or Follower? Leader
4)What is the main aspect of his/her personality? Tenacity. Brilliance. The man’s a genius and he’s down-right proud of it, though he tries not to be. Thus, any mention of his assets, and he’s liable to get snappy. He’s also a bit of a joker, and loves catching people off guard. Otherwise, he’s very logical, very tenacious, and the last man in the galaxy you want to cross . . . . really.

History:
1) Does your OC have a family of any sort? If so, are they still alive? He has an older brother and a younger sister. His father was killed, as were most of his extended family. His mom is still alive.
2) Is your character out on his/her own? If so, why? He’s 54 . . . . Plus, someone had to leave Tarvalas for help after the coup, and Yiron was the best pilot around.
3) Has he/she encountered any traumatizing events? Would watching his father die count? Almost murdering one of his best friends at the urging of a demon? Almost losing his mind? Nearly dying of thirst in the desert? Something that hasn’t happened yet but will in the second book?
4) What was probably the best time in his/her life so far? Too many too count. Racing, flying, meeting God in the desert (though that was a bit painful . . . .) Meeting Ahri.

Romance:
1) Single? In a relationship
2) Has your OC developed any romantic relationships? See above. He had one previously, but she dumped him for becoming Christian.
3) Virgin? I think yes, but I'm not sure.
4) Does your character like flirting? Yes. He tends to be subtle. If he's flirting really obviously with someone, it's a dead give away that he's not serious.

Symbolism:
1) What animal would you associate your OC with? Caracal
2) Musical Instrument? Sakih (it’s a guitar, basically)
3) Element? Bromine (It's the only non metal natural liquid, and its darn volatile, I think that's why he likes it), though he prefers compounds usually, especially carbon dioxide. He doesn’t answer WHY as to that one.
4) Planet? I was going to say ‘Uranus’ for it’s uniqueness, then he demanded I change that to Tarvalas, which eliminates any symbolism, but I’m not arguing.

Showing the Love:
1) Do you draw your character? Yes
2) Do you write about him/her? As much as I can, even though it’s like squeezing water from a ROCK. >_<
3) Do you use him/her in any rpgs? I bring him up in random conversations with my friends, but I’ve never done anything formal.
4) What other ways have you appreciated your OC? It's not like I could cosplay him or anything, but I talk about him a lot and he holds a special place among my characters (i.e.: he-who-is-most-like-me)

RANDOMIZE!
1) Is your character wanted for anything? Besides being Yiron Flechyr? Not really....

I am ~le-hana But, due to an overcrowded gallery, and my frustration with the backseat my art was taking, I decided to split into two. ~le-hana shall remain up and running as my photography gallery, while this shall feature art and writing (what little of that I manage to upload).

<<EDIT>> Everything is uploaded, finally. That took awhile. I left most of the fanarts up over on ~le-hana so the creators wouldn't have to relink to the new ones. Also left up anything that had been faved for now until I decide what to do about that. Otherwise, the shift is complete.

~ ~ ~

As a way of reference, these are my stories that are currently being worked on. The full list is about 28, give or take as soon as I make some decisions on some new ideas. Could push it up to 30. :
The Bluefire (Finished, Rewritten, currently being edited with aim of getting published) Abbrev: BF
The Traveler (Long one, maybe half finished, maybe not) Abbrev: TTh

Argalian War/Tarvalas (Two parter, first part almost finished but enduring a killer writer's block >_< ) Abbrev: AW/Tarv

Less than Perfect (A recently started story about a genetically engineered super soldier gone rogue) Abbrev: LtP

<Unnamed Story> (As it says. Another new one. No clue what to call it, no clue where it's going, but its awesome. ) Current Abbrev: O&F

Cat's Eyes (Webcomic I'm scripting with then intention of drawing after I get out of college in 2 or so years) Abbrev: CE
