I have gone gaga for textures. I am trying so hard not to use them in all of my pictures, but I am finding it difficult `cause when I try to leave them without the end result looks barren. For example for this: [link] I found this great heart bokeh texture that was just perfect for the theme. And don`t get me started on the grunge textures.

I think I should buy a scanner to make my own textures `cause while using other people`s textures is easy and great it only takes ones pictures to a certain direction - which may not be the direction I want to go. Besides, I would like to try integrating some watercolour paintings with digital drawing really much - just like the talented Hannah Stouffer does in her amazing pieces. Check them out: [link] They`ll blow your mind.

And I you have any recommendations for a quality scanner, drop me a line.

After photographing the great traceurs of Hämeenlinna I proceeded to photograph my very lovely friend up North. I had SO many ideas, but after nine (!) hours of non-stop photographing we called it a day. The results were astounding. Now it is only up to me to deliver - I have to decide what to do with the raw-files. `Cause I want the pictures to represent the versatility of the digital photography scene. And now I found it almost unbearable to decide what to do with the photos `cause so many of the options look nice. But after playing around with hundreds of photos one gets lost and quite blind. One can blow even a great photo with the wrong choice in post-production.

Here is a GREAT article series about the seven deadly sins of a photographer. And the guy who wrote it is a GENIUS. The texts are filled with great thoughts and truths. And they really do help to be a better photographer. And for example to accept that some criticism is just envy.

[link]

I have agreed to photograph six women and four dogs (no, not DOGS, but real dogs, what do you take me as ) - separately in different places. I AM SO THRILLED! I am just filled with ideas, how to photograph those ladies. And as if that wasn`t enought I am still going to take formal portraits (with my brand spanking new Elichromes flashes) of my relatives. Man, I just love holidays!

But after getting to know it through some amazing examples I want to learn how to use it. Maybe not just that but Illustrator with my photos or with Photoshop. Something in the way Ai is so clean and distinct attracts me. I don`t think I will be making anything worth anything with it for a while but maybe I`ll upload some of my efforts on my account. I just bought a very lovely ring flash adapter from rayflash and I have to say that it does the job quite magnificently. I know, I know, using ring flash is kind of cheesy if one does it without proper concideration but I am willing to take that risk. Next week I will be photographing a bunch of people using only ring flash and I hope the result won`t be a bunch of 90`s fashion photos.

Next up on my list are mediocre studio lights and a Wacom -table. And then a larger hard-drive. And then, in the distant future, a brand new, pimped-out iMac.

Everything, everywhere, everyone ends.

Not the band, you silly things! Death metal isn`t my cup of tea. I`m talking about the fabulousness that is Alan Ball`s masterpiece, Six Feet Under. Though I promised to myself I wouldn`t start watching the series AGAIN in a while, I found myself totally wrapped in it`s beauty last night. I was supposed to watch the pilot. Now I have enjoyed five episodes so far. It`s like crack! The show is addictive. But I love it to death. It genuinely is the most impressive piece of art I have ever come across in my life. After watching an episode you feel like you`ve gone through a catharsis. It`s your own little piece of personal therapy.

And it inspires me to photograph and to write. Because, man, that show is shot with such care and concideration it astounds me everytime. The usage of blur and lighting makes me want to grab a camera and try to do similiar kind of aethereal beauty. Just the intro itself has so many original visual ideas, it`s staggering. So now I am going out for a walk and try to capture the essence of spring - end of death and the beginning of life.

And then I´ll propably watch some more of that visual and narrative narcotic substance.

Everything, everywhere, everyone ends.
