So, I'm just waiting for my mom to get home from work right now (she works nights), then breakfast/present opening shall begin.

No news on Cosplay right now, as I'm still waiting for JoAnn's to get my Ciel fabric in stock. And really, I wouldn't have had time to sew recently anyway, since I've been working about 55-60 hours, 5 days a week, this past month. I'm exhausted! BUT, it should be winding down from here on out - we take the Christmas scene down at work on the 30th ... I think all of us working there kinda want to burn the Christmas tree and make a bonfire party out of it. I'm only kidding~!

As for Cosplay, Minori from Toradora is done! I finally got my wig and cut/styled it. Ciel is at a standstill for the time being, since the fabric I needed is currently out of stock/doesn't exist ... who would've thought that blue velveteen would be SO. IMPOSSIBLE. to find.

Oh, and I caved and got a Twitter account. So, there is now a Twitter feed of my most honest and unbridled thoughts/feelings/YouTube dumps right on top of this. :3

I guess I haven't been feeling quite myself for a while now, and it's starting to really worry me. I'm sorry if this is reflected through my comments/typing on here - I try my best for it not to. I don't have any friends where I live right now, so I don't have anyone to hang out with since I graduated college this year. And well, I've been pretty unhappy lately due to a few things. So, thank you, to all my good friends who I keep in touch with on here - you're pretty much what's keeping me going right now.

As for life, I've been working for about 2 months now. It's not my dream job, but it's a good paying starter job, and the environment isn't bad. I take pictures of babies, children, and families, mostly (I'm a portrait photographer). It's full-time, and I have a bit of a commute (an hour each way), so it feels like I have little time for anything else when I get home.

I'm still managing to work on new costumes on my days off, however - right now, I'm working on Minori from Toradora, and pretty soon I'll start on Ciel and Sebastian from Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler).


I've been kinda lonely lately, since I'm living back at home, and all of my friends are either scattered, or back where I went to college. So, I don't really have anyone to hang out with or talk to back here. It's not THAT big of a deal, though, because I can still talk with them online and on the phone and whatever, and I've been keeping busy, obviously. But still ... gets a little depressing sometimes, and I don't quite know where to go from here.

But that just means it was a good time, so I have no room to really complain. I cosplayed, I saw friends I only see a couple times a year, and I met a lot of new cosplayers. Everyone there was so FRIENDLY! I wish I could've nabbed their devArts ... if they even have one.

I also got to see and cosplay with once again, which is a treat in itself, really. I broke down our cosplay schedule in my last post, but just for the record, I'll probably go over it again in my report. Which leads me to delineate the weekend ...

Friday: I got out of work at noon and flew to Atlanta right afterwards. Unfortunately, my flight was delayed (lol,isn'titalways), and I got to Atlanta around 5, where I met up with Matt, and we took a taxi to the hotel. We were staying with my fab and tsundere cosplay friend , who looked super adorable all weekend. *o* So, when we got to the room, we changed into Suzaku and Euphemia

and b-lined to the convention to pick up our pre-regs and go to the AWA Ball! Which was amazing, and exceeded my expectations, because they had a LIVE string quartet playing animu songs all night, and actual dinner and desserts (which were delicious). Matt and I danced as Suzaku and Euphemia to an actual Code Geass song (Innocent Days) which was pretty amazing, and we met an Emperor Lelouch cosplayer who hung out with us for part of the con, and I nabbed this super cute and chibi Mytho (from Princess Tutu) crossplayer for a dance.

Saturday: Matt and I cosplayed Saito and Tabitha from Zero no Tsukaima

for the first half of the day, and scoped out the dealer's room. After that, we went back to the room to change into Suzaku and Euphemia again, but I wasn't feeling very good and ended up taking a 2 hour nap. x_x We changed, eventually, and headed back to the con in time to check out Artist's Alley, and watch the costume contest! After that, we decided to go back to the hotel with the intentions of going to the pool, but got caught up in wacky and random conversations with our cosplaying roommates until the wee hours of morning.

Sunday: We cosplayed Mitsuru and Minato from Persona 3

and swooped in the Dealer's Room and Artist's Alley one last time, and I ended up getting one of those SURPRISE BOXES of a Toradora figure, in which I lucked out and got a SUPER Tsundere Taiga chibi (complete with a little fang and fox ears!), and a figure of Yuki from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

We also went to a panel on Cosplay and body image, which was pretty interesting, and hosted by one of our roommates! After that, we wandered a bit to see what was going on, and eventually left since things were winding down. Then it was time to go back to the airport and go home, but not before being driven by Maxwell, the taxi driver/African-American church preacher of justice!!! Most memorable taxi ride EVER.

So, that was amazing con weekend, and now it's back to work and I've got an awfully bad case of Con Comedown. ;_;

I'm still adjusting to having a full time GROWN-UP job, y'all ... 5-6 days a week, 8:30 - 6:30, plus an hour commute back and forth. It's pretty tiring, but I feel like I'm on the road to independence (and paying back my student loan :3).

I am SO glad to be back in Florida! North Carolina was nice and all, but I've never missed Pensacola so much before.

1. Thanks to and for pointing this out, I belive Hyatt from Excel Saga is my anime twin. We both have the worst health in the history of the world and die all the time.

2. Being the center of attention makes me uncomfortable, but I absolutely hate being ignored.

3. I like most foods and am pretty open minded to trying new things, but I cannot stand pickles! Even the smell of them makes me gag.

4. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a fighter pilot, a violist/violinist, an architect, and a meteorologist.

5. On most days, I don't wear any makeup - it feels too gross on my skin.

6. I LOVE desserts. The prettier and more gourmet, the better. It's really a wonder I don't weigh 300 pounds.

7. I tend to feel the most lonely when I'm around a lot of people.

8. I'm kind of a shut-in. A perfect day for me consists of staying home, drawing, and working on costumes. And of course, eating fancy little desserts in between.

9. My self-esteem is pretty low. There were lots of things that I wanted to do growing up that I didn't because I was convinced I wouldn't be any good at it and I'd just embarrass myself.

10. I'm a pretty good cook. :3

So, at the con it was me, Matt, , and Rachael (a friend from college). We had such a random, zany time - we did a group Zero no Tsukaima cosplay together, since we had all watched the anime during our last semester at college and it was fresh in our minds for something we could do together. Matt and I also cosplayed as Minato (Main Character) and Mitsuru from Persona 3, and had an awesome time doing that! And I was "Bunny Euphemia" for 's Code Geass Bunny Girl group, which was a lot of fun to cosplay, and I'm sure we got some amazing group pictures from that escapade!

We also went to the rave for about 5 minutes, the yaoi panel (which was ridic and lulzy, just the way it should be), some dollfie events with Sakura, the Quick Draw contest, and nearly lived off of Perkins the entire weekend (mmmmm, pie and pancakes!). And also, in the four years that I've been to AFO, I FINALLY got to swim in one of the pools! This weekend went by way too fast, it was pretty surreal, really.

So yeah, awesome weekend was awesome, and I thank all the people who made it such!

But back to real life ...

I'M IN NORTH CAROLINA FOR 2 WEEKS UNDERGOING JOB TRAINING, GUYS.

So, I might be a little slow with responses and such.

Sorry if I've been slow to respond to comments or comment on work lately, I've been very busy since I got back home from Yasumicon. I'm helping get some pictures ready for her D&D compillation book, and working on three different costumes for AFO next weekend. And of course, getting prepared for my new job, which I have a 2 week training period to leave for right after AFO.

But anyway, since I'm less than 500 pageviews away from hitting 20,000, I decided to have a Kiriban. So, whoever gets my 20,000th pageview, take a screencap of it and send it to me, and I'll draw you a free request. It can only be 1 character, though. We went to Yasumicon, which was held at FIU in Miami. We got a little lost finding the convention building since it's an XBOX HUEG campus, but aside from that, everything went so well! I pretty much lingered around Artist's Alley most of the time, since that's 's thing. She let me sell some prints of my artwork at her table, and give out business cards, so that was really incredible.

On Saturday I helped Sakura with her Dollfie Teaparty. I made Russian Teacakes, Molasses cookies, and chocolate covered strawberries for the event, which random passerbys were actually willing to buy. LOL. Sunday was pretty chill, and I didn't cosplay even though I was going to originally.

However, in other news, I GOT A JOB! It's with Portrait Innovations, a new portrait studio that's opening in Pensacola. I don't know if you remember me going on about that job interview last week in my last journal, but apparently they liked me enough to hire me. So now I'm going through 40+ pages of paperwork and getting my plans together for when I go off to job training in August. I will be broke no more!

Next con is AFO, cosplay plans are as follows:
- Mitsuru from Persona 3, to go with as Minato (Main Character)
- "Bunnygirl" Euphie, for the Code Geass Bunny Girl group
- Utena, for a smexy UtenaAnthy photoshoot

I also got some 'Artist' business cards, so I'll be handing those out at Yasumicon - stop by Sakura02's art table and say hi! I'll be cosplaying Maryweather on Saturday, and Layla on Sunday. I may also be judging for the Cosplay Improv contest on Sunday - should be a riot!

So, I went to Metrocon (in Tampa, Florida) this past weekend, which I wasn't originally planning on including in my con lineup this year, but I'm really glad I went!

I spent most of the con sitting with/helping/being a big fat bother-er to at her artist's alley table. The more I help her out, the more I want to try doing artist's alley myself. It looks like a very fulfilling experience selling your art. Although, I don't think I'd have it in me to do on-site commissions ... that would just be crazy, and I don't know how she does it. x_X

I finished Anemone (from Eureka Seven), so I cosplayed her on Friday, and had a photoshoot, so I should be uploading some of those pictures soon. As well as Shion from Xenosaga.

I entered the cosplay carnivale (the costume/cosplay contest) as Euphemia, and won "Best Character Likeness", which was amazing! I acquired some nice loot from that, like a gift card for JoAnn's, a free manga from the dealer's room, Yaya Han's cat ears, and a nifty little plaque. ^^ I also met some pretty amazing cosplayers while being in the cosplay carnivale, like my "Twin Euphie-chan", who was adorable AND a real sweetie! Also got to see some familiar faces again, so that's always a treat.

Sakura and I also went to a Harvest Moon panel, which was fun (the girl hosting it was a RIOT!). We went to the Friday night rave, but didn't stay for too long 'cuz we were tired, and the music was just kinda 'meh'.

Hmmm, yeah, didn't really do much besides that! Like I said, most of my time was spent hanging out with Sakura in artist's alley, which was pretty cool.

Next will be Yasumicon!

I miss my friends.

I'm staying at the beach with my family until Wednesday, then heading home, then going to Canada in a few weeks!

Then I have to find a job, preferably a graphic design one.

I got a package from my mom yesterday (bearing truffles, cookies, a yoga outfit, and some very nice bodywash/lotion/body spray from Victoria's Secret), a card from my Grandma, and then I woke up today to the lovely surprise of a subscription given to me by , and an amazing giftart by . Thanks so much!


Later today we're going to Chili's for desserts, and, yes, I'll probably get a drink, too. I'm of age, and it's my birthday, and it's not like I'm the type to be irresponsible, so I think a Sangria is in order. I'm really looking forward to some molten chocolate cake, though! Mmmm, chocolate volcano ... .

But yes, only 3 weeks left until I graduate college! I'm so stoked. It's been stressful, and it's really getting to me that in 2 weeks I'll be walking with my finished portfolio, in business attire, to the AIGA portfolio review, where they'll pretty much tear apart everything I've done and tell me I have no future as a designer and that I should probably just go jump off a bridge. Okay, maybe it won't be quite that bad, but I'm really stressing about it, and I haven't been feeling very confident about my work at all. But that's a different story for a different time and place entirely.

I have Portfolio class today in a bit, then it's cake time. :3 Woot!

Apparently my Maryweather costume was showcased 6 days ago on Cosplay.com. LOLWHUT, I didn't even notice until like, minutes ago.

But aside from that, I just wanted to thank you all for the well-wishes from my last journal post. I'm feeling much better now, almost ridiculously so (though I'm not complaining ). Now I just have the rest of the semester to worry about, and you know, graduate. I only have little over a month to go and my portfolio still needs so much work ... it's a little disconcerting.

But after graduation, I have a pretty big cosplay project planned, so I'm pretty stoked about that.

Also, I'm considering opening art commissions after I graduate (lol, if there's any demand). I might start doing art trades or even giving away a few freebies, but I'll let you know more when that time comes. I gotta graduate first and put my life into this portfolio.

Also, we got to see after two years, so that was pretty sweet as well. Aside from that, it was just overall very stressful, and it seemed that everything that could go wrong did.

Friday: A lot of driving, but overall not a bad day. , (Steph), and I left St. Augustine around 6:45 in the morning so we could get Sakura to her artist's alley table with time to set up before the dealer's room opened. After we checked into our hotel and dropped Sakura off at the con, we went to the airport to pick up Matt and we got back to the con around 1. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling too well (probably due to nerves?) so I didn't cosplay. We mainly browsed the dealer's room and hung out at Sakura's artist table since nothing else was really going on, and my stomach was still hurting pretty badly to do much else.

Saturday: Saturday wasn't bad either, except Sakura got really uber sick with a high fever and flu symptoms and couldn't make it to the con. Most of us headed over to the con pretty early, since my friend and I were doing the costume contest, and the rest of us needed to man Sakura's artist table. We didn't win anything in the contest, but it was fun entering anyway, and we got a decent amount of pictures. After the contest, we decided to call it a night. We ran into some communication issues, but seriously, with 11 people in our room to keep track of (or try to, anyway), this was to be expected.

Sunday: Sunday was pretty awful, not gonna lie. I woke up with a sore throat and a stomach ache, but it was nothing terrible. I was probably just con stress. Anyway, Matt, Steph, and I woke up early and got breakfast without a hitch. However, when I got back to our room, Sakura had taken a turn for the worst. She was having trouble breathing and couldn't move at all, so we called an ambulance and she was admitted into the hospital. There wasn't much else we could do at this point, so we packed our things, and Matt and I went to the artist's alley to pack Sakura's art stuffs, while the others checked out of the hotel. Matt and I lingered at the con for a while, since Sakura's boyfriend and our friend were at the hospital with Sakura, and we figured they wouldn't want a million people over there derping around.

Thankfully, it turned out being nothing serious, so Sakura was released around 1, at which time her bf drove her back to St. Augustine. Matt's flight wasn't supposed to leave until sometime around 6, so we scoped out the dealer's room one last time, and stuck around for part of the AMV contest. We left the con and drove Matt to the airport around 4, but unfortunately, his flight got bumped to Monday due to bad weather in Atlanta, and he had to stay at an airport hotel for the night.

As soon as Steph and I got back to St. Augustine, we just kind of fell onto our beds and crashed for a while. I was feeling considerably sicker at that point, and no one was around (except for Sakura, who was resting, understandably), so I was feeling a little depressed. However, I ended up talking on the phone with Matt for nearly 3 hours, so that cheered me up and kept me from moping.

But now I'm full-blown sick. We stayed at the con hotel with a bunch of my friends that I don't get to see or dork out with nearly enough. Seriously, though, it was one of the most fun conventions I've ever been to. Sure, the con itself was pretty small and there wasn't a whole lot in the way of events, but the people I hung out with really made it phenomenal. And not to mention, it was on the beach, so that was pretty awesome, too. was kind enough to take some pretty awesome beach photos for me.

There were a lot of funny/weird/interesting moments over the course of the con that will stick in my mind for a long, long time, and make me laugh out loud (or at the very least chuckle) and annoy everyone within earshot. One of my friends talking on the phone for HOURS in a very pronounced southern accent comes to mind. XD Questing for food was also kinda interesting, and of course, there was the clown car drive to Waffle House that was as cozy as it was for the lulz. And we can't forget the faux British accents thrown around during the weekend, either.

I also won Outstanding Craftsmanship for my Utena costume, and I got a pretty bamf-looking trophy and a Misa plushie out of the deal. It was all around a great weekend, and I don't think I was sad even once, even the slightest bit, the entire time. I think I might have stumbled upon something brilliant here.

Next for me will be Megacon in Orlando, then Anime North up in Toronto. Until then, I've got to suffer through my final semester of college as a graphic design student. I go back next week already. Here's hoping I can graduate with my sanity intact, maybe?

Speaking of, my grades for last semester were ... better than I expected, which is always a lovely surprise. I got A's in Advertising Writing and Illustration, and B's in Typography and Web Design. Which means I should be getting one of those nifty little Dean's List certificates once again. ^^

And ... I do believe I will be entertaining guests within the next week, which I am downright ecstatic for. and are coming to visit the otherwise desolate Florida panhandle for New Years, and then we'll be off for our SUPER ANIME WEEKEND! in Destin, FL, for Anime South '09.

I just finished Movie Duelist Utena, and am feeling rather good about it. It's not too shabby for something I made in only a week. It feels like I'm becoming more efficient at sewing. Now it's just a matter of sculpting the handle for the Sword of Dios, which ... I am not so confident about.

My Christmas was merry, and I hope everyone else had some great holidays, as well.

Oh, there was EXP-con last month!
It was a really good con, I thought. Small, but fun nonetheless! There really wasn't a whole lot in the way of cosplay. I think I only spotted a handful of cosplayers throughout the entire weekend, most people were there just to hang out, it seemed. But anyway, my friends from college and I piled in the Brent-mobile (our friend Brent was awesome and drove us to and from the con all three days). Luckily, the con was only 20 minutes from our college, so the commute was REALLY painless considering how far I usually travel for cons.

So anyway, before I digress any further, EXP-con was fun, and if I'm in the area again next year, I'd go again. It was held at the World Golf Village resort hotel, so it was really posh and roomy, and perfect for taking pictures, and since it was pretty small, there wasn't any crowding. It felt like I didn't have to wait in any lines that entire weekend, even when we got our pre-regs and went to the VA panels. I'm not really into autographs, but my friend got Steve Blum, Johnny Bosch, and Beau Billingslea's autographs super-duper easily. And I got a picture with Steve Blum, so that's awesome as well - I love his voice. , , , and I went to a dollfie painting panel and got to paint on dollfie heads. :3 I do want to get a dollfie someday, lol.

Also, I entered the costume contest and ended up winning Best In Show Female with my C.C. flightsuit. I won a really pretty kimono! [link]

So, yeah. It was a lot of fun for all of us, and a much needed break in the middle of the semester.

School, I regret to say, hasn't been nearly as awesome. I'm feeling SO unmotivated to work on anything school-related now that the semester's coming to an end ... and this is unfortunately the time when I have to apply myself the most. Ughhhh, do not want. At least it's Thanksgiving break, though.
Only one more week of class, then it's finals week. :/ I'm kind of terrified.

I want to do something art-related for Christmas, but I think I should devote an entire journal entry for that, just in case this whole thing about EXP-con/school has been TL;DR. So, you'll probably be hearing from me again in the next few days, bugging you all about that. XD

Oh, has anyone been playing Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility, the new one that came out for the Wii? My friends and I have been ADDICTED, I tell you.

Just two more weeks until EXP-con! I'm so excited. ^^ It's only in its first year, but it sounds like they have a lot of awesome things planned, like fireworks and freaking IMAX anime showings. Um, for one thing, she said that the TEACHER said to tell everyone you know, family and friends, goodbye for the semester. And then she assigned 30 thumbnail sketches, on the very first day of class, due FRIDAY (she's taking the MWF section, I'm Tues/Thurs).

I'm scared, you guys. I rather like having a life outside of class work ... and going on deito's (XD) with .

Anyway, here's what my schedule looks like:

Monday: Web Design I - 10:30-11:45, Illustration - 4:30-6:45pm
Tuesday: Typography - 12-2:45pm, Advertising Writing - 5-7:30pm
Wednesday: Same as Monday
Thursday: Typography - 12-2:45pm
Friday: FREEEEEEEEE!!!

So it's pretty awesome that I get a 3-day weekend every week, but I'll probably be spending most of that time cooped away in a dark dungeon chained up to Typography homework, if it's as bad as it's made out to be. I already have homework for Illustration, too ... thumbnails and rough sketches ... fun. :/

And ... I have a job interview! It's just for a part-time job on campus, but there are a lot of perks. My interview's on Monday at 2 in the afternoon ... I'm so nervous, I've never had an interview before. Though I've read up on tips, and countless people have given me advice over the years, in case such an occasion were to arise. :/ I hope this works out, guys.

Anyway, my main point throughout all of this, is that most of my time here at college is spoken for, and unfortunately, this means very limited deviantart time. I'm sorry, I know I'm waaay behind on commenting and such, but between classes, friend-time, and possibly a job, my presence here might be sparse compared to how active I was over the summer.

I leave for college on Sunday - a glorious 8-hour drive with all of my college crap weighing down the trunk and part of the backseat, I imagine. I hate move-in. But I did manage to make one last costume (C.C.'s Flight suit) before college time, which makes me especially happy since I won't be bringing my sewing machine with me to college (no space for it, heavy to lug around, etc). So this means I'll have a new costume for EXP-con, which is this new convention starting up in St. Augustine this October.

I'm just waiting on the wig to get here ... but aren't I always. EDIT: Ohohoho, wig arrived not 20 minutes after I finished typing this up, and it is GLORIOUS.

And, I'm really sorry I haven't been as active here as I've been this summer. Since Otakon I've just been derping around trying to get my stuff together. But I'm working on catching up on comments and journals and deviations. :3 And since I haven't featured anyone for August yet, I'm just going to wait until September, that way it won't be unfair to anyone being featured for only a week and a half.

Honestly, I'm kind of bummed that college is going to be starting up again in less than two weeks. :/ There's still so much I want to do that I just CAN'T do there, and I'll be honest, I love being home. I love the food, I love my bed, I love my own bathroom, I love my dog, and I love my mom. That's not to say I don't want to see my friends, though! I've missed you all so much, and I can't wait to see you all and hear what all you've been up to. You guys are the one silver lining about going back to college.

Also, Code Geass R2 is SO GOOD, but SO DEPRESSING. ;_; I got caught up last week and watched episode 19 last night. I'm not going to rant about any spoilers since I know not everyone on my f-list has seen all of it.

IT WAS HUGE, OMG. Seriously, after being used to Florida cons, the largest being Metrocon, it's a real shock. It was awesome, though. The dealer's room could have been a con in itself.

Aside from some minor problems, like the walk to and from the hotel in uncomfortable shoes and stifling costumes, and problems finding some areas of the con since it was so spread out, I had a great time. Being in the Masquerade (Cosplay Contest) was fun, albeit stressful since two people flaked out of our skit last minute and we had to find replacements ... and we only had 1 hour before the contest started to rehearse and learn our parts, since everyone couldn't meet up until then. Lindsay, my friend who came up with and put the skit together, and I were the only ones to be craftsmanship judged for our costumes, since everyone else was last minute help out of the kindness of their hearts.

But despite all of the stuff that went wrong, we ... ohmygosh, we actually won something? YES, WE WON SOMETHING! Which we were totally not expecting, given all the pitfalls and last minute changes. We won Best Craftsman Performance, which we were very happy about. And unfortunately, video of our skit isn't up on YouTube yet, so you can't see my terrible acting yet.

and I also entered the Art Show, and all of our drawings sold! I've never sold my artwork before, so I really wasn't expecting that. :3

Oh, and Sakura02 also took some bamf pictures of my Princess Neptune costume, so whenever she sends me those, I'll upload some.

And now that I'm home, I'm trying to crank out one more costume before it's back to the salt mines (college). Hopefully it will be my EXP-con costume.

But yes, omg, this is the last leg of my little vacation. and I leave Fort Lauderdale tomorrow morning and should arrive Baltimore/Washington airport around noon. After the weekend, I'm going back home to the panhandle, and then in a few weeks, it'll be back to college.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. The point is, OMG, OTAKON THIS WEEKEND, SO STOKED, OMGOMGOMG!

That unfortunately kind of ruined the con for me. However, judging the cosplay improv contest was fun, and the other maids in the cafe were sweethearts, and held up even in such cruddy circumstances. One good thing was the photoshoot at the end of the con - I look forward to getting those pictures!

kept me sane and put up with my ranting, and even took me to Friday's after the con was over, which was awesome and delicious and made up for the lack of food during the con. Thanks so much for cheering me up!

Kiriban's still going strong! Less than 400 hits, guys! And wow, we leave for Otakon on Thursday already, guys.

We had a dress rehearsal (of sorts) last night, where we pretty much tried on our uniforms and figured out schedules. It was my first time going to the meetings since I've been too far away to make them up until this week, so it was a little scary trying to find the place and stuff. I'm nervous, wish me luck at being MOE, y'all.

I'm also one of the judges for the cosplay improv contest, "Whose Cosplay is it Anyway", at the request of Mr. D. Should be good times!

I'll be sure to post some pictures from the Maid Cafe after the weekend, or at least link you all to some.

I'm at my dad's now, and will be visiting him until Sunday or Monday, so I had time to type up my con report ... but it's probably tl;dr for me to post here, so I'll just sum up some of the highs and lows of the con. ^^

AWESOME THINGS:
Traveling and checking in on Day 0 is the way to go.
Seeing Diana and Alison again! And going to the Fantasy Masquerade with them and Sakura02!
Anime Idol was really impressive and awesome to watch!
Sakura02 and I got to hang out and see lots of events!
Got to meet lots of awesome cosplayers in the costume contest! I love you all!
I won Honorable Mention for my Umi costume! I even got a medal. :3

NOT SO AWESOME THINGS:
- FLUGTAG. Drunk men with their exposed beer bellies hitting on cosplayers ... KTHX NO.
- General con frenzy, disorganization, miscommunications, losing track of time.
- Cumbersome Umi costume

Really, the good heavily outweighed the bad. We had a really fun time. Sakura02 took pictures of my Umi and Leyline Melfina costumes, so I'll be posting pics as soon as I get them from her - probably won't be until next week.

All of my costumes and touch-ups are finished, so I'm in good standing for Metrocon. Since I'm done with costume stuff, I was able to draw yesterday - drew a couple things, though I only finished one. It feels good to be drawing this summer, especially after last semester being so chaotic and never having the time to draw something on my own terms. It feels like I'm improving, though I can't be too sure about that.

So, I've broken down the conventions I have coming up:

Metrocon = Costume Contest Con - After putting my heart and soul into Umi for the last month, I'm definitely entering the craftsmanship contest.

Yasumicon = Work Con - I'll be working at the Maid Cafe and helping with her artist's table for most of the con. I probably won't bother entering any contests.

Otakon = Skit Con - I'm going to be in my first Cosplay skit, in my friend Lindsay's Xenosaga group. I'm so excited! It will be my first time entering a Cosplay Contest.

So the rest of July and beginning of August will be very full of conventions, visiting people, and traveling. I will be bringing my laptop, though, so I will still keep in touch.

Metrocon cosplay is near completion, thank god. I just have one jewel left to glue on the shoulder armor, and then I have to embellish the prop. I dyed the wig, too. Still trying to get the sharpie stains off my hands, even though I wore gloves (some leaked through).

Most of my cosplay friends are at Anime Expo right now ... wish I were there too, though I shouldn't be complaining because I already have three cons lined up. MAYBE NEXT YEAR, AX. And then maybe I can run into someone internet famous. XD Or not.

As for costumes, I've been getting some good work done on my Umi costume this weekend, which is awesome since I was stuck for the longest time. I've finished most of the sewing for it, and now it's all armor and bead work. I still have a little over 2 weeks until Metrocon, though, so I should be able to finish her in time. I'm also fixing up Esther, namely re-making all the metal arrows out of wonderflex so they don't crack and break, since I've been informed that there will be a Trinity Blood photoshoot at Metrocon. I'm going to boil to death in all that velveteen, you guys.

Summer!
Whatever character you request has to be in the swing of summer. This can mean swimsuits, beach balls, enjoying a glass of iced tea, whatever you equate with summer.

As far as life goes, it can be summed up in one word: Costumes. I've been sewing like crazy, getting costumes ready for Metrocon, Yasumicon, and Otakon. I won't have any time in between to sew, since I'm going to 's again, so I have to get everything done before Metrocon.

I have some health issues I need to clear up, and I'm SO NOT looking forward to going to the doctor. It's giving me so much pain and sickness, though, so I don't really have a choice but to bite the bullet and endure whatever the white coats have to throw at me. It's nothing life-threatening, though, so please don't worry. I am extremely squeamish of doctors and the general poking and prodding they do, though, so I need all the luck I can get with that.

Oh! I signed up for the maid cafe at Yasumicon! I'm not sure if they're going to accept me or not, but I'll let you all know how it goes.

I left for her place last Wednesday, and on Thursday she took me to my first baseball game (the Marlins won!) and we got to sit in the "hmmmmm, yesssss" club seats and everything. Then on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday we went to Florida Supercon which was only 15 minutes away from her apartment. All I did for most of the con was help Sakura-chan out with her artist's booth, but that was awesome in itself! I got to see conventions from a new perspective, and got to meet a lot of awesome new people including , , and , just to name a few. I also saw a lot of cosplay people that I normally see around at conventions.

The one event I did participate in was the costume contest, in which I won Yaya Han's Judge's Award for my Pink Esther Blanchett costume! I could hardly believe it. *o* And I received the 4th season of Smallville on DVD, which is so random, but cool all the same since my mother LOVES Smallville and we used to watch it together sometimes when I was in high school, so it's like, WHOAH GOOD MEMORIES. XD And that was a horrible run-on sentence.

And then to cap off the awesomeness, yesterday was my two-year anniversary with ! I can't believe we've reached the two year mark already, oh how time flies. I just wish I could have seen him yesterday and given him a glomple.

So, now that I have the next month and a half until Metrocon, I will be working on more costumes, and have included Princess Neptune in my schedule so I will have a fancy-pants gown to wear to the Fantasy Masquerade. It also looks like I will be going to Yasumicon, since I will be down in South Florida visiting at that time, anyway.

It's been a good week!

I've been in the Dairy State since Wednesday, visiting my sis and her family, including my 1-and-3/4-year-old niece, who is just PRECIOUS, btw. She loves my Nana cell phone charm, and adorably can't really say my name right (it either comes out "Kyare-nen" or "Carrot"). But anywho, I go back home tomorrow, and am quite excited for Florida Supercon coming up!

I just ordered a wacom tablet! Well, I ordered it before I left, so it should be arriving soon, and then you'll have to put up with a bunch of crappy artworks as I break into my new tablet. XD Won't that be just lovely.

Going to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner tonight, and let me tell you, I am EXCITED!

Been getting costumes for Florida Supercon underway ... I finished Layla, and I've finished Esther except for the parts that require the fabric I ordered (which I'm still waiting on). I really hope to get everything done before I go to Wisconsin next week.

Before I forget ... here's a meme that I've seen floating around on my friends list.

Eight Odd Facts Meme:

1. I will eat just about anything, but I'm really fussy when it comes to what I drink. It's usually just water, milk, or the occasional tea/chai for me.

2. Unlike a lot of college peeps, I don't particularly like parties. I'd much rather stay home and draw/sew/watch movies/hang out with a small group of friends.

3. I get sunburned ridiculously easily.

4. I am the only person in my group of friends who CAN'T roll their tongue into weird shapes. Thanks a lot, genetics. XD

5. I love learning to play musical instruments, but when it comes down to it, I never have the time/commitment to really stick with it.

6. Even after moving around all the time and living in various parts of the US, I STILL have a Midwest accent.

7. I have long toes, which I stub all the time. OW.

8. I'm really interested in theatre and performing arts, and though I haven't had much experience first hand (and chose the arts/graphic design route) I still admire the theatre scene from afar and feel drawn to the stage.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day! It will be the third V-day with my boyfriend, , though the first year we weren't technically a couple yet. ^^ Two valentine's days ago he sent me a box of chocolates and a little teddy bear; last year he greeted me with a GIANT teddy bear as we were about to go to Megacon, along with some chocolate goodies. Tomorrow, we'll be going out on a dinner date! I'm so excited, it will be the first Valentine's Day that we'll actually get to spend together! However, before I can relax and have a great time with my sweetie, I, along with the entire female population at Flagler College will have to endure ....

HOUSING DAY. >

Only the most ridiculous waste of time EVER. Basically, everyone lines up outside the student center so that at 7 in the morning, when they open the doors, we can get housing contracts for next year. However, since there's a shortage in female housing, all the girls have to scramble at UNGODLY hours of the night just to get in line because it is THAT chaotic and that much of a zoo, and everyone's terrified that they'll run out of contracts. So my roommate and I are getting up at 4 to line up. 3 if my suitemate says a line is already forming. Hopefully this year will be better managed than the last few.

Coupled with my mystery illness of late, I will have absolutely NO ENERGY.

I'm sure some of you guys already know, 'cause I live with you and all. My classes are pretty awesome this semester. 18 credit hours, three of those classes being 4-credits, so it's a lot of work, but it's stuff I rather enjoy, so it's not too bad. That's what I'm saying now, anyway. Just wait until midterms.

Painting I - I'm learning how to use oil paints!

Principles of Advertising - Really amusing for a lecture-based class, actually. Our teacher is a riot and makes puns off of EVERYTHING! He makes the material extremely relatable and easy to understand.

Intro to Visual Arts, aka ART LOL - It's a freshman art/humanities class ... that I just realized I had to take because my credits for a "comparable" class didn't count afterall. But it's cool, it's just re-hashing over basic art concepts and history that I already know, so it should come pretty easily.

Graphic Design II - It's with the Apricot, what do you expect? Only some of you will get this, sorry. XD

Acting One (because a Roman numeral just isn't good enough!) - Has nothing at all to do with my major, but I really wanted to take it anyway!

I went to my first audition today, since auditoning for Senior conservatories is mandatory for all Acting One students. I was SO nervous. But I didn't forget any of my lines or freeze, so I am happy about that. I'm not expecting to get a call back, but just auditioning and gaining that experience is good enough for me anyway. I must take the opportunity to thank (and shamelessly plug) for helping me so much and giving me much needed support!

School is going well, except I can't really say I enjoy any of my classes in particular, which sounds horrible, I know. They've all been kinda 'blah' so far. Not bad, just blah, though that could change as the semester picks up and we become more involved, especially in Graphic Design and Photography, which would be fun if we ever did any work in class.

Onto better things, Esther costume is starting to look finished! I'm finished with the actual sewing on the dress, and now I'm working on all the metal, armored bits. And I've got everything for it except for the boots, which I ordered two days ago.

Haven't been feeling very well, but I'll chalk that up to some funky brain chemistry. I dunno. I certainly don't have anything to be eeeeeeeeeeeeeeemo about, but I'm still not feeling quite myself. Everything's peaches and cream other than that, though, so I'm sure I'll get over whatever it is soon.

It looks really nice, but it's harder to store things since there's not as much closet and storage space. But we managed to get everything unpacked and organized, and now we can start decorating! My Lolita Asuka wallscroll fit perfectly above the fireplace.

came over the first night we moved in and brought a cake and we had a little welcome back party! She works at a Publix bakery, so she was able to customize it and it looked so cute. We also met another anime fan - - who's really cool and talented and likes to cosplay! And we had our first Anime Night of the semester last night, during which we watched the first disc of Fumoffu and the first episode of Trouble Chocolate. It's so great getting to see everyone again.

Classes start tomorrow, but I only have one class on Mondays and Wednesdays, and then the rest of my classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which is going to be a pain. At least I get Fridays off, so I'll have three day weekends every week to regain my sanity. But yes, these are the classes I'm taking:

I pretty much re-did the skirt, beefed up the petticoat so it's even floofier than before, and started painting/drawing on the skirt designs. But aside from that, there's the imminent college move-in (CHAOS!) that'll start soon. I move back into the dorms next Sunday.

I don't know how I really feel about that ... I mean, I'm ecstatic to be seeing all of the college crew again, but I could really do without the moving and tests and stress and not being able to hang out with my mom and all. My mom's awesome, and I'm really going to miss going to Target and the fabric store and Starbuck's and such with her. I always do when college starts. I'm kinda nervous about my schedule this semester and how my campus job is going to work out, if I even get one since I'm apparently on a wait-list now. But on a more positive note, I really can't wait to see everyone at Flagler, especially since he'll be starting this year!

AND OMG SHOUTOUTS!

I so can't wait to see you again and am so glad that you're my roommate! I'm really looking forward to the new D&D quest and seeing what you throw at us this semester. XD I really, REALLY hope you decide to go to Janicon and that everything works out. I've missed you tons! Did you get to see your baby brother in Grenada?

But about AFO, it was sooooo much fun, and I am so glad I got to meet and hang out with so many people! Usually when I go to conventions I just hang out with a couple people that I go with, which usually includes my roommate from college, , who mans her own booth in the artist's alley, and my boyfriend, , who's awesome and does many a couples cosplay with me. And while it was indeed sad that couldn't make it to AFO this year, I still managed to have a fantastic time and got to hang out with people I only got to briefly meet up with at previous cons. And that really made my weekend!

So for most of the con I wandered around with some friends, got pictures taken, hung out with Sakura at her artist's table, browsed the dealer's room, and saw some highlight events like the Anime Checkers Match, Cosplay Contest, Ouran Panel (which was incredibly awesome and I'm totally having a conniption for not having seen the show yet), and entered the Costume Contest, which was also awesome because I got to pass the time in line talking with a couple of friends who entered as well. And coincidentally we were next to eachother in the lineup, so that really made it fun and distracted me from being nervous.

And the outcome of the contest was extremely made-to-order, too, what with Daisy winning Best of Show for her uber amazing Queen Esther. And *gasp* I actually won Best Craftsmanship for my Chii costume, which I was totally not expecting and was probably shaking like a leaf when I went on stage to receive my award. lulzz. XD

And on top of that, Sakura won third place in the fan art competition! So yes, it was a fun con. I did get sick on Friday and Saturday, and couldn't cosplay as much as I would've liked, and had to miss out on the rave/dances, but the rest of the con totally made up for that. I also didn't buy much in the dealer's room, which could be either a good or bad thing depending how you look at it, but I did get the 6th volume of Godchild manga, a Yuki shirt which is awesome in its purpleness, and a surprise for Roy.

In less interesting news, I leave for Wisconsin tomorrow. Though this means no sewing or scanning in drawings to color for the next two weeks, I am highly looking forward to seeing my sister and her family and eating copious amounts of frozen custard - a midwestern delicacy.

So with that said, most of my day is spent sewing, with the occasional break for Harvest Moon and watching NANA on YouTube. And when that gets too tiresome, I bake cookies. I bake lots and lots of cookies -- mostly chocolate chip, though I have dabbled in some double chocolate and oatmeal as of late, and am slowly acquiring the ingredients necessary for Black & White's (inspired by the Seinfeld episode). Oh, and I also almost forgot to mention that I'm DDR-ing again, in the mornings as an exercise regimen. I have to start out slow because it's been so long since I played and I get winded so easily now. Having a morning exercise routine makes me feel so much better and more energized during the day, though, so I should be back up to my usual level in no time.

And I believe this has been The Summer of the Guests. My sister and her family visited for almost two weeks in May, then Roy stayed with us in June, and last week my step-grandma dropped in for a good week. It's nice having company.

Anyway, that's pretty much all I've been up to since Metrocon. I hope summer is treating everyone else well.

Friday:

and I left Pensacola as planned and our plane got to Tampa on time ... but it was storming so hard at the Tampa airport that our plane waited an entire hour outside our gate before letting us off. LAME. Meanwhile, was having difficulties checking into the hotel and was treated extremely rudely by the staff. When Roy and I got to the hotel later that afternoon at 2:30, we tried checking in again with a nicer lady, and she got us into a room.

Once we got to our room, Momo returned to her table in the artists alley, and Roy and I changed into our Sara and Setsuna costumes and went to the convention center, which was connected to the hotel. We picked up our con badges and stopped by Momo's table for a little bit. After that we walked around and explored the convention area, Roy bought a few packs of Yu-Gi-Oh cards, met up with some people we knew, and then decided to get changed for the Fantasy Masquerade that night. Unfortunately, we weren't really in the mood for dancing, so we only stayed for an hour. Roy wanted to go to the game room, so I followed and watched as he played Guitar Hero and Halo Something-or-Other. I was getting really tired and decided to call it a night after that. Roy stayed to go to the midnight rave, which I heard was awesome and played all the popular songs like Butterfly Remix, which made me wish I had stayed up for it.

Saturday:

Momo and I got up early to eat breakfast and head to the convention, since she wanted to get a head start on her business. Roy met us on the way down, and after helping Momo carry some things down to her table, we went back up to the room to change into our Melfina and Harry costumes.

We got our pictures taken by Maboroshi and got recognized a lot more than we anticipated. It's so awesome that people still like and remember Outlaw Star. We even ran into two other Melfinas, an Aisha, a Jim, and a Gene cosplayer. At noon we went to the Anime Human Chess Match with Mr. D, his daughter, and her friend who was cosplaying Link. The Chess Match was 10x better than any of the previous years, and you could really see all the work and fight choreography they put into it. All the swords were real, too.

After the Chess Match we got lunch, sat in on Mr. D's Evangelion panel, and went to the Cosplay Contest, which was hilarious, and OMG, we could actually HEAR the contestants for once! A few people I knew won awards for their skits, and that was awesome. A retardedly awesome Pokemon group won best comedy (they had a man play Misty, LOLZ).

After the Cosplay Contest we didn't know what to do, so we decided to go to the Eyeshine concert ... which ended up being a Vic Mignogna concert/panel since the events were behind schedule. Mr. D's daughter and a bunch of her friends were sitting up front and they let us sit with them. The audience was filled with Vic's pre-teen fangirls ... lots of "I LOVE YOU, VIC!" and squealing from the Vic fangirls ensued. Poor Roy was about to die. XD We agreed it was awesome in all its gayness, though.

After the Vic show, Eyeshine took the stage. Their performance was pretty cool, and Roy started moshing with some other guys, of course. XD After that we went back to the room to change into our rave clothes, and hit Saturday's midnight rave. We only stayed for an hour since I wasn't feeling very well, though. :/

Sunday:

I spent most of the day dealing with the Costume Contest, which I entered as Chii. Roy cosplayed Harry again and helped me along to prejudging, which took longer than I expected because people kept stopping us for pictures along the way. I really wasn't expecting that much of a reaction for Chii, but it made me extremely happy!

You spend months upon months planning everything, making costumes, getting hotel reservations, yadda yadda, and then it only lasts for two and a half days. But it's so awesome nonetheless.

Roy and I are flying out of Pensacola tomorrow morning and should get to Tampa around noon. We'll be in costume all three days, most likely.
