Happy Birthday to me.

Went to SSF today, bought a really fun jacket (it's like military meets marching band meets blue silk) and a fedora. FEDORA! /happy And tomorrow, I'm off to Hawai'i for a week or so. I plan to, while on the lanai with feet up on the railing watching the rain and the birds, work on Drowned. So expect an update sooner or later. AND pictures of paradise.

Greetings all and Merry Christmas! Today was a successful present day for me, and my family. I received random lumps of currency, hurray, and a great fancy outfit that my mom picked out and MOSTLY succeeded. Also got a Michael Crichton book about pirates, a Dean Koontz book, Boondock Saints (lol), a collapsible jin (Chinese strait sword, hurray), socks, smelly stuff, a couple games, a MGS bag (hahahahaha) and the usual mountain of candy. Oh yes, and Acrade Fire's 'Funeral.' EAR. GOLD.

And a cactus farm. I do love my cacti.

Secret Santa Original Character Project, 2009

We al have original characters. And man, do they make a mess of our brains.

Is your OC dying to get out for the holidays? Begging for recognition when youÂre firmly putting your foot down? I have the thing for you, then, because not only will your OC get some sun, you wonÂt be trapped in plot-quicksand trying to figure out how to appease them!

Secret Santas are already a well-known social device to liven up boring offices, groups of schoolmates, or a way to keep old friends together. You enter, and are given a name that you keep a secret until the 24th - at that point, you approach them with your gift! And of course hilarity ensues.

This is the same idea, but between original characters.

I'm actually painting in photoshop. It's so weird. That little tickle of excitement finally came back, and it isn't even for my character. Ha! Anyways.

I passed 1,000 faves. Isn't that weird? Since I actually started being active on DA like a year and a half or whatever ago, after years of semi neglect, I have faved so much awesome stuff. I try to not give them out lightly, I get hit by the 'I have 20,000+ faves!' fave-spammers all the time and it kind of bugs me. Who knows why.

In my quest to get to know a certain character better, I've run across something that is worth 5 minutes and will give you many lols.

Hi everyone!

I had a great halloween, twas very mellow, I just hung out and handed out candy to kids. I did scare a ninja though, that was hilarious. I dressed a dead nurse-in-scrubs, easy costume! Next year perhaps I'll try harder, give a better shot at being a Sith or something. Anywho it was fun. Many pumpkins met their end. Muahaha.

And I still know I have much art to catch up on, my muse still hasn't revived, though, it's come close. A twitching corpse, maybe.

So, even though I didn't have the energy to answer every comment I got over the last week, thanks for your concern when I was sick.

It didn't feel like a normal cold, what with the very severe cough and my back going out, and every day it got worse and worse. Yesterday and the day before I was in so much pain and discomfort, and my breathing was constricted to the point where I felt I was suffocating. It was actually pretty scary. I don't have health insurance, so I went to a clinic (clinics' generosity is mind boggling to me, I'm so grateful to them). I have, if you care for full names, acute bacterial bronchitis. So now I'm on antibiotics, and it's amazing how much better I feel. I got like 5 hours or so of sleep last night, which is more than the last 3 nights before that combined. I also got immunized for h1n1 and influenza, so my arm hurts like a bitch. But a minor pain. I can't beleive 9 days have passed. It's a looong time. I still don't have the energy to get back into life, and am still pretty damn sick, by healthy's standards.

And I'm still kinda bored.

Hi kids!

Writing a journal mostly because I'm a little on the bored side. I had a nasty couple of days being sick, and this morning I had to work with my back completely thrown out. Not to mention my lungs are still swimming in goop. Raw throat. Pain. Resting in bed ALL day.

I'm taking it easy but man ALIVE am I bored.

I've been trying to think of a topic for `Memnalar's Halloween contest. Everything I come up with seems stupid. My latest idea has been the zombie apocalypse in the wild west / postapoc future with alien technology. I think my diseased mind is taking hints from *RalfMaximus's crazy style.

My other idea was the spiders in my bathroom starting a war and asking me to intervene as God, smashing them with my shoe. That didn't go far.

Another idea was the giant blinking cursor chasing me around trying to smash me. Maybe that's too realistic.

Basically I could take anything in the world and set it on Halloween night. I'm still pulling a 'durrrr' though. Oh and not to mention I'm still brainfarting on =aeromachia's contest. At least I have butt tons of Drowned chapters stockpiled to create the illusion that I'm not just doing nothing creative whatsoever. So. Suggestions? hahaha... ._.

I was cropping up some preview images for Drowned today, cuz *Siobhan68 said I should, and I do everything she asks. So I got to this one chapter where Jessica does a crayon drawing of Fisher, and realized that it would be hella funny to actually have the crayon drawing.

Took down most of the Star Wars fanfic today. Only part 1 and 2 are still up, but even they have revised versions waiting. So, I actually opened it up today...and revised a little, and even added in like a page-long section. Wow. I figure one day, when I finally finish the third section, I can repost it. It's really super different now. And more of the names you guys (hella long ago) suggested are being used. Whee!

And - don't you hate it when you have free time but the old brain shrivels up and dies? All I've been doing today besides work is eating cheese, playing flash games, and watching tv. /yawn.

I am so sleepy, this weekend was a long long 36+ hour day broken up by like, maybe two hours of sleep, MAYBE. I went to a tournement (as a coordinator person, I swear I'll compete one day and regail you with tales of my lolvictory) in Sac. Lotsa higher-end (compared to a lot of tourneys I've seen >_> ) okinawan stuff, which was fun to watch. I took like about five thousand pictures, and four (yes, four) came out. Yay really bad lighting and long distances!

SO. On the art front, almost done with *Siobhan68's trade, I will so suprise her when she comes back from vacation.

And if you want cool jewelry, please buy from `Mithgariel. Know the bucks are going to a good cause, the cure for Kitten Flesh Eating Detonation Virus, which kills thousands of kittens in horrible gibby explosions every day. Rrreeeallly.

1- Reading really good writing on DA inspires me. Seeing really good art on DA makes me feel like I suck.

All you have to do is write one tiny little sentance, and put it in one tiny little paragraph. The goal is to catch a reader in minimal space. This is a good chance, those of you who may be like me with blossoming ideas, to write a very small beginning.

They call them...thoughts. But yes, I am having them.

The first is thus, mostly inspired by the DA poll about vampires and starting to watch the very uninspiring 'Vampire Diaries.' Is there too much when it comes to vampires? Has it been done so much that it just isn't interesting, ever? Or would it take an original idea to spice it back up? Original being not human and vampire pairings. For the love of god. Has anyone else caught 'Vampire Dairies'? I actually am not sure if I 1. Like it 2. Am exasperated by it 3. Am still inwardly intrigued by the genre or 4. Think the Evil Brother (tm) is a hunk. But is the genre reached its hayday? Has the world had its fill?

Which brings me to the next subject I was thinking about (while watching the TELEVISION GOLD that is 'Tool Academy' ) is a new subject to write about.

As 'Drowned' nears its end (Sorry! It's true!), I'm thinking about fleshing out ideas I've had before.

The first idea is to expand on well, my type of vampires. I wrote a quickie about one of them in 'Blood Shift,' but think that they're unique and interesting enough to actually have a novella-ish thing. Another idea I'm having is to stay in the Drowned universe, and give Dominick Santos (of the 2nd addendum) a story. So yes, if you're read this far in the journal, bravo. I want opinions on my ideas! Brainstorming is fun.

And my last thought: People seem REALLY antsy about submitting lit to DA. I think it's some kind of publishing phobia. Liiiike the won't like it if someone else has SEEN it and DEVIRGINIZED IT WITH THEIR EYES? Lol. Sup with that?

Oh and lastly - Who's rooting for Giant Tool, the Lu Bu of Tools? Lol! Oh HEY Star Wars Ep IV is on AGAIN!! I <3 Droids.

And um, for the sake of conversation, answer me this: How old is your oldest original character? One that you still use is lit, art, or RP? Old as in how long you've had them, not the 1,000,000 year old vampire who's so jaded with the world, all they do is play Gaia online and read Twilight.

I was actually thinking that the other day, because if it weren't for DA, my little schizoid personalities I love so much would probably be in the dark recesses of my mind because my concious body of thought would still be telling them "art is not cool." I HAVE characters older than 7 or 8 years, but I don't really use them or think about them. They're cheesy/silly anyways.

I have mucho projects of visual artness to do, but truth be told, I haven't picked up the tablet in weeks and weeks, and have sort of fallen into a total inspirationless funk.

And because the awesome =DemonicTiphia offered 10 free sketches (the only catch for being a sketch taker being I dole out 10 of my own), I'm doing it too. So, first 10 posters, you get a sketch. A very sketchy sketch, yeah, but I do need kind of warm ups to fire up my drawing fingers again, now that life is settling back down (phew).

You know when life gets complicated, the days just fly by. I've found that this week, though I had 4 days off of work and planned to just chill and catch up on art and all the stuff you guys have posted, is one of those weeks. Feel free to note me if you're curious what's the haps, but all in all I'll just say that there are some really sad things going on, and some really exciting things, like my friends moving to a big new house. FIRST! I just discovered right now that The Drowned exceeds the word and page count of Travel Diary. I never thought that'd happen! TD has been my project for years. YEARS. Drowned has been in the works for less than a year. But it really seems that Ahren's epic mope-o-rama was like, practice for something a little more involved like Drowned. I do love my crazy circus car full of characters. But I miss Ahren and Sig dearly. They shall be reborn someday.

I never thought, after Twilight, Interview With a Vampire, 1,000,000 other random books, that I'd ever give vampire fiction a shot again. BUT, the amazon suggestions thingy and my itchy buying finger lead me to purchase Richelle Reed's 'Vampire Academy.'

And I gotta tell you, it's restored my faith in bloodsuckers. What it lacks in title creativity (hey, it gets strait to the point, I guess), it makes up for in true-to-reality well made prose. Mary Sues be damned, no one in that book is perfect or even close. It's one of those books where the characters aren't defined by the magicalness of their environment (harry potter) and aren't defined by one another (twilight). The main character has a laundry list of flaws, as well as strengths...often times the two conflict. A lot.

Other characters and events orbit in a complex planetary system, where not one character is the center. Yet all the paths cross...at the awesome climax, of course. Most of all I like how the characters ages (teens) reflect their knowledge of their own world. They take what they've been taught in school for dogma, and as a reader I have a feeling their little socio-political sphere is going to pop, whether they think it's possible or not, as they tend to become embroiled in school dances, boys, and dresses. In other words, they're part of a greater unknown.

And best of all, isn't aimed at a super high reading level. So it's easy to get through and enjoyable!

So yes. I'm going to read on in this series!! If you have 8 bucks, I'd highly recommend giving it a read. That is, if you want your faith restored in things vampire.

I finished the comic!! I'm so happy. I'm actually pretty sick of the computer screen now. But finished is a good thing. My cunning plan is to upload a couple or three pages a day, and hopefully force people to actually look at each page, and not as a serial.

And despite the blood sweat and tears shed for the sake of this, the cover has like 5 views. Ha! I blame the weekend. I have no life though, and am happily at my computer. So appease my geekness, if you like it, fave it. I say this because I rarely put effort into visual art. I just sorta dabble. This though, it took effort. Yeah!

Eh updating journal again! Just for the hell of it.

So I'm working on the Drowned comic, and it's fun. But unfortunately it's not good for anyone who actually cares if I post or not, as all 25 paintings that are slated to be made for the comic are hiding on my PC until they're all ready.

25 is hard.

And I am being a perfectionist about it. This brings up a question though...would anyone be interested at all in the rejects? There's been stuff I've done that I'm just not gonna use. Just ain't turning out the way I want. I hate scrapping stuff I spend hours and hours on! But that's the way it's gonna be.

And I've discovered a few things: it's easier to draw people in bright light, architecture SUCKS, and I'm going to be very, very very sick of drawing piers. Very soon.

Oh, and I have like a thousand things to read sitting in my inbox, but haven't felt like reading. I know! I'm sorry. I'm a promise breaker and a hooligan. Right? On the personal front, I guess I'll say a short word or two about this, remember last month where I was all depressed and stuff? Yeah, it's really no better. I'm just getting more apt at ignoring it. edit: I fixed the quality problem. Notice: if any of you have Sprint broadband, take care, the latest update included an 'accelerator' program that knocks all image quality down to Mario. ~_~ Fortunately, you can disable it.

And has anyone noticed that the image quality of some of the stuff here has completely gone down the shitter? I thought for a second that the pixily noise on a lot of the images I was seeing was just user error. Then I looked at my OWN stuff, and saw that it looks like it was hit by the super mario world stick. The hell?

Anyone else seeing this problem? ~_~

Oh, and I played the BSG board game this weekend. It was hilarious. President/ Admiral Tigh (Roslin spent most of the game in the brig for being a cylon sympathizer) took about half of humanity (the rest was drunkenly, er, nobly sacrificed) to Kobol, while being chased across the universe by the evil Dr. Baltar, Cylon Sleeper Agent!!! And Helo was a better mechanic than the Chief. Heehee.

+ E3 2009 is over. It feels like...the end of christmas. A whole 'nother year till the next bonanza of amazing game news. Speaking of aging geeks! *hide*

I promise I am done talking about it now. Promise! It was the first one really I'd paid close attention to. It helps to have other crazies to talk about it with at work. Really. Okay now I'm done. DONE.

I HAVE to talk about the game news at E3. I have to.

SO. Firstly, FFXI giving way to FF14.

At SE's interview about FF14 ( g4tv.com/e3 , it's in their news section) they mentioned that the trailer does include the IN GAME ENGINE. Specifically, the sections with the galka fighting multiple enemies. This is the power of the ps3, people. Wow.

Rumors about the game being free to play aren't confirmed or denied, however, they do say races from FF11 are going to be used again. "Think of actors in a movie," one of the SE reps said, about reusing the races. They also said they're porting FF11's 'better' qualities, ie, Level Sync.

Another item of note - the game will be catered to solo play, multiplayer, 40 min long play, or all day play. So, FFXI for casual gamers, on a platform that can actually hand the power needed for story based content, instead of teh dreeaded "FORMULA."

they said only ONE MORE YEAR of FFXI content to be released, then the game is going to start to be phased out. Really.

And non FF related, Assassin's Creed 2 looks stunning! Slightly more stunning, in my opinion, than the active gameplay demo of Uncharted 2. But believe me, Uncharted 2 was astounding. Helicopters blasting, shit flyin everywhere, buildings collapsing...Wow!

I need a ps3 now. ._.

Rejoice, world, for I have written today. I gotta tell you, =bekkia's writing FAQ's are really helpful. They're fun to read, firstly, and point out a lot of important stuff some of us tend to overlook. Hell, I overlook stuff. I get stuck in 'tell' instead of 'show' ruts a lot. I'm trying to fix that little problem.

So I did like, a half chapter of Drowned. It was like (do they say this?) milking an orange. But I got it out! More or less. Alex's chapter is next, prepare yourselves for violence. Let's just say Billy comes back...briefly. Poor Billy. It's gonna be a big chapter too, and will probably be split at least 3 ways. Alex needs a lot of space. Plus, you guys want him to speak, right??

And I did a major edit of chapter 3. A few surrounding chapters have been hit by the almighty revision stick, introducing the missing children as 'world flavor,' until of course we find out who is taking said children. Andre and Ferdinand also have speaking parts now! My beloved minor characters finding their voices. Go Mafia!

I'll post it soon, really. But work makes me so sleepy, my brain doesn't work properly, ya know? D:

Wild Talents again, where I transplanted my SW fan character's powers (dubbed 'blood fu,' being able to control blood outside of one's body) onto a mechanic named John. John, who is not a jedi, is in a state of constant irritation because using his powers, overpowered and mighty they may be, hurts. SO! Our little team works (incognito) in a Wild West theme park. Our boss tries to make us use fake western accents, the other two comply, let's just say John doesn't. Being stubborn, iritable, violent, and a sucker for soap operas are among his many awesome traits.

A kid who can teleport stole a funnel cake (Oh noes!) so Brad, the smartest-man-in-the-world-but-doesn't-know-it-yet, gets in his little cart and tries to chase the kid, but gets stuck in human traffic. Chuck the bbq loving earth moving historical reenactor gets on his horse and tries to lassoo the kid. John, aka me, charges past people with little regard to their health, tackles the kid, the kid ports, chunks of John go flying, so in overdramatic retaliation, pounding this kid's face in, he's screaming that he gives up, but I stabbed him anyways, right through the chest, with a spear made of my own blood. Lawl. Kid goes to the hospital, Brad quickly (he's really smart! he just has to learn first) learns how to be a surgeon, and sneaks us in. Brad and Chuck offer the kid a job at the theme park (best to keep watch on all the weirdos with superpowers), and he becomes, to his utter horror, MY underling as a junior ride mechanic.

Oh, the cover story for how the kid got impaled at a theme park was that "Calamity Jane's Threshing Experience" malfunctioned and sent a metal pipe through the kid's chest. LOL. Threshing.

I haven't laughed so hard and consistantly in a LONG time.

I'd creep up behind my mom and scare her. I also ran around in my dad's old white gi, pretending I was Luke, of COURSE I had my socks rolled up over my pants! Good times, good times. But ya know, media in general should really be no.5. Entertainment, well done ones at least, are art, and they being people together. Star Wars is just a big one, but really I'm glad that humanity's vision has gone beyond cave drawings and firetime stories. How sad is it, that I have the most to say about this one?

Callsigns over the radio make for weirdness, adding perfectly to our already strange collection of junk. Like honey bears killing eachother with toothpicks, a Nuka-Cola bottle a-la Fallout 3, a mask of Matt Damon, and dress up dolls of Palin and McCain.

5. I had a long dream last night, really strange, where I was my own character, Alex. More or less. I shot two people in the face, it was loud and horrendously messy, and I felt horrible after. Part two of the dream had me trapped on a tropical island with a bunch of idiot college people (a rl worst nightmare). They were frightened of me, but not so frightened that they couldn't mock me. I think I was more Ahren at this point (another character), and let me tell you, a hot island is a bad place for him (me?), as both Alex and Ahr prefer the cold. So I flew away from the island, setting distracting fires in my wake. I found out the world wasn't even mine, it was as if Rome had never fallen. I went to the capitol, and the leaders were all Koreans in traditional dress. The stairs came alive and we battled. The end.

Rejoice, world, for I have finally seen the Twilight movie.

And I'm sorry, massive amount of people who despise the franchise, but I did enjoy it. I'm a little bit beyond raging fangirl (I froth a manageable amount on a schedule, how adult!), but the movie did give me the same warm fuzzy feeling that the book did. I could rant on things I like and don't like about the book all day, and the movie was a tad on the silly side, but hey, you know what I'm talking about. A little happy nostalgia for the series, the first two books totally sucked me in. Shlurp.

Hey, even my mom liked the movie, she wants to read the book now. We both agreed, it's very escapist, which is nice sometimes. And I took an allmighty all knowing quiz that said I was like Bella. So I asked my mom, and she laughed and said no, to which I tried to look as morose and boring as possible and said "uh huh." >_>

I'm gullible.

I was coerced, we'll say, a month ago, into buying some very expensive brownie mix. I was over at my parent's place tonight for easter dinner, and decided to finally make the "these better be made out of fucking gold" brownies. And yeah, the box was a liar, the bake time was nowhere near where it really needed, and so when I took it out of the oven, molten brownie sloshed all over my leg, my foot, the counter, and the floor.

We managed to salvage about half the brownie, but the rest was bust.

And best of all, it wasn't anything special, as far as brownie mix goes. The lesson is, kids, don't...slosh brownies. Or buy ANY boxed food over 4 dollars!

The critique system thing sure is interesting, and juicy. A good move for DA, that's for sure, they'll rope in a ton more subscribers with that feature. Hell, they almost have me. I love critique, but my self-resolve is very beefy in saving money.

At least until summer, when I'll actually have an income. I hate to admit it, but my work seems to be suffering a little. The weather is GREAT! But where are the guests??

The last week has been pretty uh, interesting for me. The week before last was a bad week, I was burned out and under pressure, and the cake topper was this monday finding that my license plates had been stolen. Luckily, after ya know, I broke like a twig and sobbed to friends, the issue was resolved that day.

This is the part of the show now where I think you all on DA (and those I know irl!) for being upstanding citizens. The attention, the jokes we throw around, and even hairy pancakes keep me giggling through rl's distressing moments. Reading stuff, interacting, and giving gifts to you people is really fun.

And I've been a good little minion, and though I'm more than a few days behind current, I do tend to read all of the prose submissions for the daily lit deviation group. And holy shittola, have they gone downhill lately. Does anyone SCREEN those suggestions? I've noticed a great deal of them are 'suggested' by one person, who gives the same generic "this is good" comment on all of 'em. Not to mention, the latest submission I read was like a first person 5 paragraph description of why this character's face is so cool. And they also had a few gems, my favorite being "I already graduated collage." *headsmack*

So my point is, maybe it's true after all. Lit on DA sucks. I remember the first lit I read on DA. An elf was shoving her hand up a unicorn's uh, unspecified private parts to massage the fetus inside. And getting off on it. ._.

It's free for all to do, and encouraged, since another part of the assignment is to read others' answers too. SO. Here goes:

A few things to consider when writing:

What reason(s) do you write for?

First and foremost because it's fun, and I learned some time ago that it's not going to get the crap beaten out of me on the playground if I share my creativity. So I just kind of indulged in it. I can get all the insane, semi-destructive thoughts out of my head and entertain myself and others. Mental diarrhea, in a good way, as I've been telling *denlm. >.>

Do you take your writing seriously?

No, in the way that I know it's not perfect or professional; but yes, in that I care for it fairly deeply, it's my creation, after all.

If so, when did you start taking writing seriously?

I used to write nothing but parody, thinking it was okay to write (see playground + crap beatings) if it's so funny, no one notices your skill. Senior year HS though, my project was to write a book, and that's when the mental milking really started. Oh what was it called... I don't even remember the title, but it was srs bizzniss.

Where do you feel you stand as a writer?

I prefer to sit. ...somewhere in the amateur corner of the ring.

What do you feel you do well? (ie, characterisation, dialogue, imagery, etc.)

Dialogue and char development.

What do you feel you struggle with?

Environments, battles.

What do you most want to improve on?

Making a frickin' plot and actually weaving together all the stuff properly and finishing it. *cough* finishing it... >_>

Do you have any questions to ask your readers?

- Do you agree with what I think are my strengths and weaknesses?

Melinda Fisk waited inside the cab, arms crossed over her boobs, for a gentleman to open the door for her. But Wolfe, lost in thought again, wasnÂt one to oblige, and the driver may as well have been a fucking zombie, so Fisk groaned and grumbled as she clambered over the seat, and popped out behind the private eye, tugging her black skirt back over her buttcheeks.

Who are they visiting? Why did I say zombie? Is Fisk a ... lady of questionable motives? Stay tuned, folks. If I find more time, and my muse stays fired up, good things will happen.

If I had a subscription, I'd totally make a poll, but instead, I'll just ask here. So, from my lovely lack of deviations lately, you can tell I really haven't been working quite as hard as I should be on my writing. It's a fun hobby, but I don't often force myself to do it.

In other and far geekier news, I modified Koda from my Star Wars fanfic thing into a character for an rp last Friday. He fits in nicely to the world of superheroes - he works as a mechanic in Knotts Berry Farm (I know, I know...) Wild West theme park. That was created as a compromise between some people wanting wild west theme, some people wanting modern setting, and some people wanting post-apoc (aka wild west with robots).

He has maxed out strength and coordination and of course the blood-weaving, renamed blood fu! Adventures included racing souvenir carts over ramps, flipping them and blowing them up, and fighting a giant 50 foot tall animatronic statue of John-Wayne-as-portrayed-by-Nathan-Fillion. He has a penchant for self-preservation and a soft spot for romance. In fact, he watches soap operas instead of working... >.> But I hope we play that game again, I'd like to have John Koda kill some more shit and make some more mayhem and frighten some more teammates.

And with my new, awesome modern device, what have I done with my computer time? Become re-addicted to KOTOR (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic) of course! My character (aptly named Koda) is well on his way to the dark side, and has a walking carpet following him around for life.

R.I.P. Waffle Pirate Ship's CRT Monitor.

It was flickering a lot more than normal last night, and today it won't even grab a signal from the box or pop up the menu. 'tis dead as a dornail. I'm currently viewing DA, to my head's ACHE, on my hdtv. Stuff is kind of warped on it, either too bright or too dark, and its hard to see art. Thusly I probably won't be viewing many deviations 'till I buy a new monitor.

Okay yeah so, there's this group on DA called *Writers-Workshop, and this um 'fortnight's' assignment is ... fanfiction. I have never written fanfiction in my LIFE! But I'm giving it a try.

My first try was Fallout 3 fandom. I wrote a letter to Dad. It was very boring, just going postapocalyptia-emo over my dog. I finally let Dogmeat just die, because I hadn't saved in a while, and he had a pathing error and fell off a stupid building. So I made it out to be like, my poor dog, blah blah, but it was very boring.

So I started a new one tonight, this time for Star Wars, and it's a lot easier to write. The Wookiepedia has been open the whole time I've been working on it. I've learned all about Zam Wessell, lightsabers, force powers, and Corsucant. YES. Wookiepedia. So yeah, I look forward to posting that within a day or two. I'm excited because I'm finally giving this old char of mine a home. KOTOR just wasn't good enough for him.

Feel free to give fanfics a shot yourself! I'm eager to see how this club works when I submit this horrible Star Wars story of mine. HA.

Oh yeah okay, so here's something weird. Look at the country options here on DA, I saw this country on someone's page when I was looking around. Heard Island. So I looked it up, having never heard of such a place, turns out its an Australian territory located between like, Madagascar and Antarctica. It's used for research, as there are tons of species on the islands as well as two active volcanoes.

And - there is no permanent human settlement on the island, not now, not ever. YET ... the islands were assigned a country code, and thus make it on all country internet lists...

Ya learn something new every day.

I had some funky dreams. Lately, yeah, but tonight, a lot yeah.

Okay so I was on a pirate ship right, and we were hundreds of years ago and this pirate obviously went all the way to china cuz it looked like frickin' Chinatown in his ship. Then this Chinese pirate came and wanted to battlez me, but I couldn't get my second hand on the 2-sectioned staff thingy cuz my sleeve was too long. So after fixing that problem, I bopped him on the head like 50 times and it didn't do anything! I ended up using a lot of weapons, and he broke my jin with a pair of steel tongs. O__o He won. He killed the captain and became captain of our ship and wanted to drive us all back to China. Wut.

Okay then I was like a fish in the ocean, looking for my fish buddies and trying to not get eaten by giant fish, and I saw my friend and he had gotten tattoos all over his arms, for some reason, that looked like scratch scars. And there was a big wave and we all screamed "YELLOW TAIL!" and swam towards the wave which was filled with delicious fish.

And now for the part of the show where I lol at 3 day weekends. Last night when I was laundering, I ended up reporting like 4 or 5 people for art theft...in about 20 minutes. Between those, the guys who take ss's of like naruto and stuff and post them, and the teenagers who shove cell phones in their crotch and take pictures, I was really wishing all these people would spontaniously grown brains. *shudder*

When will people learn that devart = / = myspace. And the other day this person totally bitched me out when I was feeling nice and told them to just take down their entire gallery of stolen art. They got pissy so I reported them. I didn't have a bad attitude towards kind strangers when *I* was 13. Yeesh.

I am so sore today, from kickboxing. I can hardly walk, my legs are swollen even and after work I was glad enough to amble home and just enjoy not moving or standing. Even climbing like 2 stairs is like...ow. THUS. Finding much entertainment to hold me over while I heal up on the computer.

Well, three, counting Suzy MacDonald in fourth grade who kissed me. The last one was a girl in Florida named Sarah, she was a sweetie, but completely disapproved of moving to the cold, cold north.

Do you know someone who doesn't use iTunes for music?
Um, everyone? Music is on CD's...

Does anyone in your family drive a red car?
Not that I know of. I'd say that it just doesn't run in our blood, but adopted, et cetera, blah blah.

Have you ever had to go to a laundromat to do your laundry?
Every week. It takes four hours! And creepy people give me stares like they're going to take me out back and beat me senseless, or just grow fangs and eat me. I have terrible luck like that at any rate, so its a valid fear!

When was the last time you used a type of public transportation to get anywhere?
Taxi...bus...ah, let me think...yes, it was a bus. Or did I drive myself? Did I mention I haven't slept properly in days?

The last time you went to the mall, who did you go with?
My best buddies in blue, you know the world is fucked up when three men with guns chase down a ... serial porta-potty arsonist...through a public mall. Disgusting fellow, called himself John.

I don't want to repeat it. I was the only one not laughing. Apparently suspenders have another function than to hold my fucking pants up.

A bad, bad man, and his little sidekick whose boobs were falling out of her dress the entire time. I'm not sure if a conversation that may as well have been at gunpoint qualifies as a conversation. I'm pretty sure I was mumbling the whole time.

Either that, or it was with my partner Sammie. Oh wait she's a woman! 'ho snap!

My city is just as busy as those, and I really do use the bus a lot. I'm not sure where my car is parked right now, actually...shit.

Some news about Travel Diary. It is officially...now, hold back your sobs...closed. Yes, for those of you reading, you will have to live with a little bit of a cliff hanger. I know. Ahren was shot, bleeding, the kid was tied up, et cetera, but they'll pull through.

What made me realize that it was nearing a complete state of defunct was watching tv tonight, a biography of Buffalo Bill. Careful readers will note at this point that Ahren's father is named Bill, and he was also a gunslinger. I realized then I know *nothing* about Buffalo Bill but tried to half-heatedly write him into the story. And it's been that way with a LOT of things.

But, the story has problems. It was my second attempt at any sort of lengthy writing. The first was my senior project, which ended up being around the same length before it sputtered and died. They both have a fundamental problem.

The passengers in the car of the story might be great, but the car is falling apart. TD's car is wretched. There's nothing going on but the two main characters' emotions, and that's not what I want. The mystery of the main story arc (if you can even NAME what that is, you win) is severely underplayed. The environment is all but dead, it's basically a solid plane so they don't fall into space.

So I'm going to start at the beginning.

The place names will all be changed to their real life counterparts. Directions will also be flipped back. Their fictional setting was a mirror image of California. The city they are in is SF. I've a rant. Stop reading now if you don't want to hear it. I try to be a good friend to everyone on DA, and it seems that despite my best efforts, (prepare for G-rated euphamism without any cursing) it doesn't always work out. I found out today that this person I've been watching on DA for years, who this year conjured a new "I'm going to ignore everyone except for my new best friend" best friend, has allowed said 'newbestfriend' to not only insult me, berate me, but now blacklist me. I went to the Iamtheonlyoneworthyofattention new best friend's site to look at their art and be all nice and supportive and stuff and found they'd blacklisted me. Oh, and the best part is, its not even a real person, its some sad fuck who rp's on an art site. Big man, having your character pwn me. Congrats. I am indeed angry. Anywho, I think after the ignoring and all the whining and stuff, I'm just done with this person. Why cling for so long? One might ask. Nostalgia. It's what gets me in the end. At least I have a life to distract me from how annoying the internet is.

For me, pretty good. Life as usual I suppose. I'm enjoying my Xbox, working at worky work and volunteering at the kung fu school so, definitly life as usual. My guy-best-friend and his family left for Tahoe so I suppose I'm a little lonely, I do miss their company. Not to say anyone left in Sonoma is anything less than awesometastic, but you know, it happens sometimes. HEART ACHE. Yes, I have a heart.

So work: today was a work bonanza. I caught up with my co-worker about his trip to London, Belgium/Bruges, and got some real belgium chocolates from him. Sounds like he had a great time, he even got a tattoo of some tulips in London. Oh and while working and chatting, we found MAGGOTS, a BLACK WIDOW and FLIES under a shelf that had been neglected for a very, very long time. Remodeling is good sometimes, even though I loathe the backbreaking work.

I'm having a rough time catching up on messages. I'll skip to the end of the story and tell you why: shopping spree. I took my holiday money (I say holiday because Christmas, my birthday, and Hanukkah are in the same week, usually) to Best Buy. Danger, danger! I came home with an Xbox360, Infinite Undiscovery, the special edition of Fallout 3 (I get a lunch tin, a bobblehead, and an art book! f'yeah!!), and a thingy for mp3 players to make them broadcast to the radio station. I also hit up Borders Books. Danger danger again, this time I came home with the comics of Wanted (it came before the movie, fear not) and Heroes. Woot!

SO yeah. I was going to check DA last night and write the big journal about my trip and put pictures together and stuff, but my power went out! I was very sad, I couldn't even play Fallout. I just sat there in the dark, lit by the glow of my cell phone, texting morosely while clutching my Vault-tec lunch tin.

Of course there are many other distractions away from the computer. New Years I stayed over at a friend's for both days, yesterday I went out with another friend for the day then to class to work out, and today of course, more stuff in the way of getting my daily dose of computer radiation.

Today is my birthday party, so I'm off to Tai Chi then to rock out with my ... socks out, or whatever. I'll grace you all with tales of Chicago later, I am SUCH a tourist and had just a great time!

Great as it was I'm glad to be back. I missed rl friends and interwebz friends alike.

Anyone have an original character, either a comic character, rp, mmo, or literature character that bounces around in your brain and just is dying to get out for the holidays? Well, I have just the thing for you, then.

Secret Santas are already a well-known social device to liven up boring offices, groups of schoolmates, or a way to keep old friend together. You enter, and are given a name that you keep a secret until the 24th - at that point, you approach them with your gift! And of course hilarity ensues.

This is the same idea, but between original characters.

It was a Dark and Stormy Night
These came from the annual "Dark and Stormy Night" competition. They are actual analogies and metaphors found in high school essays.

1. Her face was a perfect oval, like a circle that had its two sides gently compressed by a Thigh Master.

2. His thoughts tumbled in his head, making and breaking alliances like underpants in a dryer without Cling Free.

3. He spoke with the wisdom that can only come from experience, like a guy who went blind because he looked at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it and now goes around the country speaking at high schools about the dangers of looking at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it.

4. She grew on him like she was a colony of Ecoli and he was room-temperature Canadian beef.

5. She had a deep, throaty, genuine laugh, like that sound a dog makes just before it throws up.

28. It hurt the way your tongue hurts after you accidentally staple it to the wall.

I always look forward to christmas shopping until I actually have to do it. I'm sure I'll be mighty sick of malls by the time its over, I could just internet shop but I'm really a browser. Items have to call out to me, its very strange. But it'll be fun.

And a little side note - now that its getting pretty late at night, I've found my throat hurts, and I feel not so well. If it turns out to be a deathcold, ima be pissed. I can't sit around and cough getting fat while life ticks on around me. Screw that. OUT, YE BUG! OUT! skdjfksdjfkld!

So I mentioned that Wiz quit FFXI, right? On our last salvage we did, we did bhaflau twice, and got five drops between the two of them. Holy moly! Way to go out with a bang. Good times.

Moving on, I can't bring myself to partake in 'black friday.' As much as I do want wonderfully cheap material goods, I can't bring myself to stomach the torture that is buying-gas-traffic-waiting-people-shoving madness. I opted to buy a book on amazon (paint me fangirl, the second 'twilight' book) for cheap instead to satisfy my buying urge.

With regards to DA, I still plan to put up some updates. Neither Travel Diary nor Drowned are dead, I'm just too busy over-thinking them instead of actually sitting down and working with them. Like a back-seat driver. It's working out about as well. >_> I'm gonna keep trying though. I also plan to enter *AAAGH's holiday contest, waiting still for the creative juices to squeeze out a little drop from this dehydrated orange that is my brain.

Last note, the TV gods have canceled another show I like. Say bye bye to 'my own worst enemy.'

Last last note, I don't really report on FFXI goings on here on DA but a good friend of mine, Wizerd, is finally quitting the game. His uber mandau wielding thf, 4/5 usu mnk, and train making linkshell mpk-ing superpowers will be sorely missed.

I also congrats mightily at Obama. I roll my eyes at California, though, who voted 'yes' (by a tiny margin) to ban same-sex marriage. So far, no riots. But lots of lawsuits, as the constitutional amendment in itself is unconstitutional. You can't ban marriage, frickin' people.

In other news, cleaned my swords today! Really, really thoroughly. I smell like brasso now. And I cut myself. Then got brasso in that. Ow. I realized then, less zoning out, more focusing on not hurting myself. I was daydreaming about the big, burly sword I have. >.> May or may not have been imagining poetry about 'have you killed anyone, sword?' Lol at me.

And at midnight last night, I got the random bug telling me to organize all my martial arts notes from ever. I think some of you might know, its gonna take a long, long time. But I hafta do it! My old pencil notes from yesteryears are FADING!

's account, she's a friend of mine and I'm helping her out uploading some art. If you read this tonight, then wait a while, I'm gonna upload her stuff tomorrow morning, as DA is being slow and I'm impatient. Anywho, she's 12 years old, hilarious, loves to draw, and wants to someday marry Inuyasha (just kidding!)

That aside, last weekend was the kids Halloween party at the kung fu school. It went swimingly, and was a lot of fun. We started out having them make their own goodie bags, then they'd meander off to the games we'd set up. Musical squares (we have squares, no chairs were hurt in the making of this game), a cake walk (but with candy), hoop tossing, and one of those foam dartboard things.

We then broke off and organized our 60something hyper sugar filled kids into teams, and had them do a candy relay, complete with going under staves set upon pads. I tried it, it was really hard! I dropped all my candy. xD

There was tons of food, pizza, cookies, we watched a movie, apple bobbing, weird dancing, prizes, costumes, madness and the subsequent cleaning up everything till the wee hours.

I only hope the real Halloween will be as fun. Maybe if I go trick or treating and use certain small cute children as candy farming tools. >.> We'll see.

Moving on: music. John Mayer's cover of "Free Fallin" is epic. Awesome and sad. Stuff like that. It's on a live album of his.

And, I'm almost caught up on Heroes! Peter is getting hit by the 'angry writer stick,' haha. At least Adam is back.

And, the new season of Desperate Housewives (omg inorite, I watch it) is pretty funny.
