Our community identity contest is now closed. We received one entry, from *Gothic-Nyu and it wins first place by default.

How do I submit to the Lyrics-Community, and what can I submit?

We are open to all categories of art, but we do have rules for submitting. They are as followed:

1. The piece does have to be in some way lyric related, be it lyrics themselves, lyrically inspired artwork, etc...

2. The piece must be your work. Art theft is a no-no.

3. The piece must not contain excessive nudity or violence.

4. The piece must follow all of DeviantART's rules and policies.

You are welcome to submit anything you like, but it is at the admin's discretion whether or not to add it to the group's gallery. We will always let you know why it hasn't been submitted, and we will not take it upon ourselves to report any violations - unless stolen from another artist.

Just send us your submission via Devnote, with the subject of "Submission," along with the link to your deviation / title / inspiration / however you would like it described in our gallery. We'll do our best to post our submissions as soon as possible, and we thank you in advance for your patience with us.

You can also update a submission, if you'd like. Just send us a note with "Submission Update" as the subject along with the link of your deviation in our gallery, and the updated one in yours.

Are there any rules for members of the Lyrics-Community?

We do have rules for our members, and they are as followed:

1. You are welcome to submit as often as you like, as long as you don't make the community gallery a duplicate of your personal gallery. Contest submissions are limited to only one entry per member per contest.

2. All deviations in the gallery belong in the gallery, and members will be credited and linked back to the original. However, all comments, critiqueing, and +favs are to be made at the original deviation.

3. The Lyrics-Community enforces DeviantART rules and policies. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT COPYRIGHTED WORK. If you get a picture off the internet and post it under your account, that is not art, and it can get you banned. Who or what is the Lyrics-Community?

The Lyrics-Community is a community that is dedicated to the representation of song titles or lyrics in art! We enjoy songs, lyrics, and music of all genres, and we believe that music has a lot of impact on inspiration for works of art. Music has a certain way to inspire people, for example, at the beginning of a song, the lyrics or the melodies can convey a single emotion, and then almost instantaneously, it compounds into illusions of several emotions at once, and for a split second, the audist feels corrupted with distortions of a certain feeling, thusly generating the ability to distract and force the audist to see things a little differently by the end of the song, and this is a feeling alternately felt through a well displayed piece of art. We feel that music and art are connected, and we are excited as a community to grow as a group of people who share the same passions and ideas.


Who founded the Lyrics-Community?

None other than ~sheepofsean. His great idea birthed the start of a lyric group on February 1, 2006, and since then, it has grown tremendously. The Lyrics-Community is currently managed by three admins: co-founder =nightfall8705, ~youneverasked, and =yamyyabes.

How does a club affiliate with the Lyrics-Community?

To do this, we ask that our club affiliates send us a devnote with the title "Affiliation" and add us to their devwatch, as well as our icon to their club affiliates.

How can I become a member of the Lyrics-Community?

Easy! Just send us a devnote entitled "Join" and add us to your devwatch list, and we will add you back!! Also add us to your journal and / or signature, shout board, wherever else you would like to promote us! And that's it, you're in!! Anyone is welcome to join the community!! To add icons, or our name to your signature, just put : iconlyrics-community : and : devlyrics-community : without the spaces.


I want to become a member, but I have nothing to submit!!

That's ok! Members are not required to submit anything, however it would be very much appreciated if members submitted from time to time. We are a very open community, so no worries!
