Another update in the span of a week, let's see how long I can keep this up.
Slowly but surely the pace is starting to pick up here, which is a good and a bad thing. On the one hand it was kind of nice to not be in the driver's seat for a while, but ultimately I want to get to work, and that's tough to do when you're not the unit in charge.
The biggest issue at the moment is space, or rather the lack of it. I'm living in a room with 2 other Majors, which isn't really a huge deal, but there are a lot of other people that are only two to a room. I was fine with it, because we had a day room, so I didn't need much space. The problem </media:text>

I've lost track of how many Birthdays I've had in the field, and I know I'll prolly have a few more since I plan on staying in the Guard. So what's new? Not a lot. We haven't been hit by mortars since that last attack (quickly knocks on wood) and the relative quiet has most of us on edge, waiting for the other shoe to drop. We've developed a bit of a rep in theatre. I guess everybody thinks Scania is dangerous. Personally I think that's ridiculous, but it's neat to have the 'rep' for however brief a time.

Moral is...well let's say it isn't high. Holidays during deployments are always odd, mainly because we don't focus on them as much as we do when back home. It's interesting how things like that lose some of their importance when not amplified by the media. I'm not saying the holiday isn't imortant, but you tend to focus more on what the holiday means instead of the fanfare. That said, Labor day was pretty cool here since MWR set up a 'Splash Day' for us. There were water pistols, water ballons and launchers, a couple of pools (water holding tanks), a mudd pit and a GIANT dunk tank. All the commanders got dunked.
