Yeah just trying to get my birthday journal off the page, so lemme just talk about how it went.

My birthday is rarely a big deal anymore (in my opinion), it's really just another day to me, although I DID get to go out and do stuff with my mother, she took me out to dinner at Bob Evans and I had some chicken parmesan which I love and some of their lemon supreme pie which kicks nine kinds of ass, and then we went over to Borders. I wanted to head there to check to see what kind of manga and such they had as well as just look around at all the lovely lovely books which I love so. While I was there there was an older gentleman standing around the entrance to the bathrooms playing a little guitar, and he was playing a really catchy tune and I kinda liked it, like a lot, so I ended up lingering in the DVD area while looking to see if I could locate some anime nonsense or anything interesting just listening to him. Right before I was about to head off somewhere else though, he stopped and was going to walk off, so I decided to clap for him to get his attention and let him know I liked his song, and we ended up getting into a conversation. Turns out his name is John and he works for NASA or something but he plays music as a hobby, and we had a good talk on the various forms of art and how it intersects our lives in so many ways, it was pretty cool. I should do a line break this is getting kinda ridiculous.

Ahh, much better. Anyway once I parted ways with him my Borders trip was pretty uneventful, I just looked to see if I could find the Desert Punk manga (totally couldn't, not even sure if there is one although I assume there is), but I DID manage to find a manga series reccommended to me by , and that is Sand Land, which is done by Akira Toriyama and is set in a desert so she thought I'd like it. And it was less than 8 bucks for like 14 chapters of manga all in one book so I was like "Hey, what a deal huh" so I decided to go ahead and get it for myself to see how I liked it, and when I went to the counter with mom, she surprised me by putting her magazines up with my stuff and paid for the whole thing herself, so that was kind of a nice little gift, that manga, which was nice.

After that we went to Best Buy because I got a Best Buy gift card back on Christmas and never got a chance to use it. Well, I went there looking for something in particular and boy did I find it - the entire COMPLETE series of Desert Punk on six DVDs for less than 40 bucks, not bad at all. I also managed to pick up the 3rd Lucky Star DVD because there wasn't much else I saw that I wanted and I wanted to get all the gift card nonsense done in one fell swoop.

So yeah, that was a long story to tell when I honestly didn't do shit, but I dunno, I guess I'm just not an exciting person at the moment. Sorry.

Just saw the first episode of the anime Desert Punk. I'm a big fan of desert environments so I really wanted to give this anime a shot.

So far, I'm really REALLY liking this series. It's pretty hilarious for an action comedy set in a post-apocolyptic desert wasteland or something similar. Granted I think the "lol desert punk likes boobies" joke is way overdone but that's honestly to be expected in most anime, to be honest with you, so it doesn't really affect me. Once you get past that the show is really funny besides that, and even the boob jokes can get pretty funny. It wasn't until the last few moments of the first episode that I thought so - but it was worth it to sit through those to hear Desert Punk called Junko "Tits McGee". Why yes that is the best name ever.

Anyway, yeah, since I liked the first episode, I'll be looking into actually buying the DVDs and seeing about the manga, just adding it to the list of anime and such I need to buy. Just thought people might be interested what's going on in my life considering I've been AWOL for the past few months.

EDIT: Also I needed a new DA icon anyway so I ganked this one from the official site.

Yeah, I'm home from my visit to Baltimore to go to Otakon this year, and it was amazing. I spent it with my friends at the ATF, and it was great getting to meet some online friends I had previously only spoken to over MSN or, at the most, Skype.

It had its ups and downs, I will admit, but it had more ups than downs, so altogether, I'd chalk this one up to a success. I really don't know if this can beat my first year at Otakon, but this year here is probably in the top 3 (of 4. Yeah). I got quite a few pictures, but I'll wait to post them until I get a couple things from Otakon in the mail so I can take pictures of them as well and lump them all together so as not to have to edit or make a new journal for two damn pictures.

Anyway, I guess I just wanted to post this to let people know I'm home, relaxing, hoping to get some writing done (I got some ideas at the con), and hopefully show some pictures and tell some stories, but right now, I just want to sit here forever.

So I was thinking to myself a while back and I decided...I need some OCs. OCs I can put into a series of TK stories that I can write. That'd be fun, and all the most well-known TK artists and such have their OCs. So I got to work coming up with some, and after a few days of coming up with character premises and brainstorming with friends, I have a group of characters who should be a lot of fun to write about, who I would like to unveil now while working on writing stuff about them.

Each bio will be accompanied by a basic character design lovingly done by Chesire Cat. Although these designs depict the characters generally well, keep in mind thatthese designs may not be final. Things may end up changing, but this gives you a basic image of each character.

[link]

This is Dawn Light. Personality-wise, she's a real sweetheart. She's very soft-spoken and generally keeps to herself, usually reading or writing. Her parents are hippies, which shows in the slight hippie influence in her design, as well as giving her a "hippie" outlook on life (peace and love, animals and nature, etc). Most of the members of the group are meant to represent various aspects of geekdom, and Dawn brings the team the "book geek" - she's generally very quiet, shy, and withdrawn and spends a lot of time reading and writing, which led to her doing well in school. Dawn gets flustered and embarassed easily, and one of the primary reasons is her height and the size of her feet (Dawn only stands 5'2" but has size 8 feet). She's the newest member in her group of friends, and the series generally follows her, given that she's technically the "new girl" (and has been for many years).

When it comes to fetishes, Dawn has a minor foot fetish - she enjoys having her own feet felt and played with, and she also enjoys playing with the feet of others. However, she doesn't get to enjoy having her feet touched very often, due to how agonizingly ticklish she is. She does, however, enjoy being tickled, but to a point; she loves playful, gentle tickling, but is not at all into the torture aspect of it - in fact, she has a strong fear of being tied or strapped down and tickled, to the point where being threatened with such a fate, more often than not, causes her to faint, at best. Dawn is also primarily straight, but shows distinct signs of being at least bi-curious, which may be due to her surrounding environment (detailed later).

[link]

Next up is Mitch Mitchells. He's the only member of the group who doesn't represent a kind of "geekiness"; instead, he's the group's stoner. Although he does drugs, they don't seem to have any clear negative effects on him other than causing him to be seemingly detached from the world as well as experiencing sudden non-sequiter-esque bursts of curiosity or knowledge that can only come from a strange view on the world around him. Mitch stands quite tall, just around six feet tall with size 13 feet, matched or possibly even surpassed only by someone detailed later. Even among his closest friends, Mitch is somewhat of an enigma. Though he lives with everyone else in the house they all got together, he seems to vanish and reappear at completely random times. In fact, many times has one of the gang paced about an empty room, talking to themselves, only to get a response from Mitch, who will suddenly be in the room, having been there all along. To be honest, they're not even sure if he knows where he disappears to. Despite his constant aura of mystery, he's a good, caring friend, and no one would ever want to give him up.

Note: Mitch's glasses should be tinted a reddish hue.

Mitch's kinks and even his sexual preference is all a mystery to the group. The only clues he has given are that he's at least open-minded to everything his friends are into, and in the few times he's been targeted, he hasn't expressed a dislike towards being tickled.

[link]

Ta-da! Meet Keitsu Chintetsuda. She's a party in a can and the group's avid roleplayer. She was a native of Tokyo until her family moved to the States, and the rest is history. As the story goes, Keitsu was the first of the group to officially meet Dawn and bring her into the group. As a result, Dawn and Keitsu are best of friends and 100% inseperable. Keitsu serves as the outgoing, wild spirit that gets Dawn moving. Ironically, Keitsu, the Japanese girl, stands much taller than Dawn at around 5'8" with size 9 feet. Keitsu is wildly energetic and charmingly spontaneous, and this, along with her dress and style, helps her stick out like a sore thumb - which Keitsu enjoys to no end. Although her constant exuberance...

My Brawl code is 1332-7364-3045 and my nickname there is Stark if anyone wants to add me.

Brawl is just as fantastic as I'd hoped. It "feels" a little different from Melee, but after having played it for over seven hours (zomg) one eventually gets used to the pacing and such.

I noticed it seems to be kinda awkward when it comes to unlocking characters...unless I have some unlock requirements wrong, some characters are, like, just...not unlocking, like Jigglypuff or Toon Link. Although luckily I got to unlock Lucario, who I really wanted to play as. He's cool, by the way.

Characters I enjoy playing as and who you may see me play as on WiFi!:
Meta Knight (red outfit)
Pokemon Trainer (either default or red outfit)
Pit (either default, gold, or red outfit)
Pikachu (blue goggles, more often than not)
Lucario (either default coloring or the slightly red coloring)
Lucas (red outfit, and believe me, this one came as a shock, but what do you know, I really like this kid!)
Dx3 (either default outfit or purple pimp outfit)
And if I feel like it, possibly Ike, who's surprisingly fun and has an awesome voice. Also, he fights for his friends.

Things that annoy me? It took forever to get random WiFi to work. Also, why the fuck does the game seem to not have Spectator mode? I know this is a problem I believe all American games have, but this is actually pissing me off, Spectator mode looked like a load of fun, where the hell's my god damn Spectator mode?

Other than that I really don't have much to complain about. I love the English voices to death, but Lucario sounds a little too "gruff"? But then again, I guess when it comes to Lucario, what kinda voice are you gonna give him? yeah.

Why did no one tell me picking a character when using a Wiimote will have that character speak THROUGH the Wiimote? I practically had a heart attack when the announcer declared "Meta Knight!" and all of a sudden I heard him growl "Fight me!" from my hand. This is an EXTREMELY cool detail! I like to go into the character selection screen and pick characters at random just to hear that! That's the main reason I use the Wiimote/Nunchuk control scheme so often, and it makes it awkward when I don't hear it when using a Gamecube controller.

God, is there anything else I can talk about? I dunno. Brawl's fucking huge and there's so much I can talk about, believe me when I say there's a lot of things I could say about it that I won't go into detail about here. I do plan to write Brawl fanfiction because there are a lot of characters who I'd like to see interact that can only do so in Brawl. I won't go into detail but I will say that much. So I guess that's about it, until I think about something else I want to say that I forgot, in which case I'll either edit this journal or make a new one.

Again, my code is 1332-7364-3045 and my nickname on Brawl is Stark. If you add me, please comment and tell me your code and the name I should use to add you. Thanks!

So the new NiGHTS game is out! NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams for the Wii! I was so excited when I heard NiGHTS was coming back. I never really played the first game, but I did play just a little bit of it as a kid, and flying around as NiGHTS was absolute bliss, so it was such a thrill to revisit it.

Also, NiGHTS has a really hard to type name when you type as fast as me.

I can't comment on the story or anything compared to the original because I never played it enough to realize it HAD a story besides "Fly around! WEEEEEEEEE!" I also can't honestly comment too much on the actual story of the game because I've only played for about an hour, or at least, so says my Wii, and I would prefer to assume my gaming consoles don't lie about me and talk about me behind my back. I know PS2 would have a few choice words about my cruelty.

So what am I gonna comment on? Gameplay, DUR. The most important part. The main thing that hit me was that it's not free-roaming, NiGHTS flies constantly forward on a set path that you have vertical control over. You can flip around and fly the other way, but you're constantly moving forward. At first this sounds bad and annoying, but all it basically means is that you're flying on a track and how you go about that track is yours to decide. After playing for a while, this feels natural and you'll just feel like you're constantly flying forward - which you should be. I mean, you can fucking FLY. Why the HELL do you want to STOP? Idiot. Keep flying. WEEEEE.

Some of the missions are a little...vague. Each mission tells you the objective before you start, but there are a few things it neglects to tell you. For instance, the third mission of the first area involves you flying in a circle, trying to catch Nightopians with your Paraloop (basically flying around it in a circle so that the sparkle trail NiGHTS makes encircles the creatures or items) before a dark cloud of nightmarish origins sucks them up. What the game doesn't tell you is you need to keep constantly, CONSTANTLY saving them until time runs out. It also doesn't tell you that if five of them are sucked up, it's NIGHT OVER for you. However, noting that there's a timer on the mission, and five Nightopian icons on the bottom of the screen that disappear as one is sucked up helps you to realize your constraints. So this isn't really much of a problem.

Another thing that may irritate is that sometimes, like in the mission I described, there are things you need to find, usually either Nightopians or, um...I think they're called Dreamdrops or something...anyway, just stuff you can collect and send to either My Dream (Nightopians), or the Dream Fountain thing (Dreamdrop things). Sorry if I'm a bit hazy on the terminology, but for some reason, info about a game I played not five minutes ago escapes me. The point is, there's shit you need to find, but you're constantly flying forward, and it's a bit hard to see what's around you to collect, considering it may be way off the screen and you may miss it. If you do notice you missed something (such as you hear a Nightopian cry out), you can turn around to go grab it, but sometimes that takes a little work - not to mention the work it takes to Paraloop a Nightopian. And don't forget - you're on a time limit on the mission, so don't fuck around!

Those main gripes aside, is this game fun? Oh yes, this game is fun as shit. Flying around as NiGHTS comes fairly easily, and dashing through the sky freely is always a fun experience. Paralooping things to collect or defeat them, while a little wonky, is still way fun to do and I don't mind doing it a few times to get it right. The landscapes you fly around are beautiful, as to be expected, the music is catchy and appropriate for what's going on, and you can play the game four different ways - Wiimote only, Wiimote-Nunchuk, Classic Controller, or even the Gamecube controller! This allows you a lot of experimentation to find what works best for you. Hey, isn't there some other Wii game coming out that has four different controller types? Isn't it some highly-anticipated game that comes out soon that a lot of people are really excited about?

Oh yeah! It's that Super Smash Bros. Brawl game! Hey, if it works as great as it does with NiGHTS, imagine how Brawl's gonna be!

But Brawl's not the topic today, NiGHTS is.

Another small bonus that doesn't affect gameplay much, is the fact that NiGHTS is voiced by a British lady.

Oh yes. That is definately a plus. I've never actually "wanted" NiGHTS. UNTIL NOW.

Although it confuses matters that NiGHTS is androgynous...especially when you're referring to NiGHTS. Do I call NiGHTS him? Do I say her? I dunno...I've always viewed NiGHTS as a male...but with the way NiGHTS looks and the way NiGHTS sounds (and to a point, the way NiGHTS acts), "her" sounds far more appropriate. "It" ju...

The rules:
1. Post these rules
2. Each person tagged must post 8 random (hopefully interesting) facts about themselves
3. Tags should write a journal of these facts
4. At the end of the post 8 more bloggers are tagged and named
5. Go to their page and leave a comment telling them that they're tagged.

1. I may be getting a job at Barnes & Nobles soon...I got an application and all.

2. My sleep schedule is literally random...for days I'll fall asleep at around 10:00-11:00 PM and wake up at 8:00 AM and then all of a sudden I'm up all night and sleeping all day.

3. I alternate being extremely arrogant and extremly insecure. Somehow.

4. I take out my depression at the fact that I can't draw by making others do it for me (WHERE'S MY SHIT SPRECH I WROTE ONE DAY WITH HER HOW LONG AGO).

5. I'll go for weeks, months without writing. I hate these periods because I feel so unproductive but never actually feel like writing. My Gardenia fic was my first new work in months.

6. I tend to quit my jobs right before I need money. (eyeroll)

7. Foot and tickle fetishism are constant themes in my work because no one else writes about that stuff and I honestly want to.

8. I rarely get hyper from sugar or caffiene or energy drinks - however, if I get tired enough, I become extraordinairly stupid. Just go look at my first scrap for something wrote while "under the influence". Sprech tells me I'm amazing when I'm tired and Raven just plays along.

9. (I'M ADDING ANOTHER ONE BECAUSE FUCK DA POLICE) I don't just write about foot and tickle fetishism a lot, I talk about them a lot because I find them extraordinarily interesting subjects. All sexual interests and fetishes are interesting to me. If you want me to interview you, tell me what turns you on, honestly, I will get curious and ask questions. This also allows me to love and accept all people and beliefs and I honestly wish other people would to.

10. (Let's just make it even) Another constant theme in my work is unity and teamwork, because I like happy endings and I love when people work together. I can remember this from early on when I was a kid because (next to brainswap episodes), my favorite episodes in cartoons where the ones where the heroes and villains work together. If you like unity and happy endings, keep an eye on my work.

This is going to be a long one. Bear with me.

So people may or may not know I am a passive fan of the card game Magic: The Gathering. Hey, the game's been going strong for over 10 years, they have to be doing something right, eh? Eh? Well, today they posted a comic created by people at Wizards focusing on a character introduced in one of the latest sets. She is a planeswalker named Chandra Nalaar (for those who are not up-to-date on their Magic lingo, replace "planeswalker" with "bad-ass").

[link]

This here is a link to the comic. You may want to read it before getting into my rant.

The first thing is that the comic is called "Chandra's Ultimate". Chandra's ultimate what? It's a nonsensical title that doesn't even make sense after you read the comic. But that's only the surface. Staying on the cover for a moment, the cover artwork (which fills a meager third of the page) is EXACTLY THE SAME as the artwork for the last panel of the first page to the point where it's clearly obvious they copy-and-pasted that artwork. This is confusing because there's dialogue on the cover forwarding the story, so you'd assume the cover artwork had ALREADY HAPPENED. But then you turn the page and oh shit, it looks exactly the same. It makes the page look redundant, uninspired, and all-around unappealing.

Secondly, the entire plot of this comic is that Chandra (that's the girl running away - don't feel too bad if you didn't know, they never actually say that's who she is and you're supposed to know this without a shadow of a doubt) stole some sort of scroll (and we don't know what it does or what it's for) and now she's escaping the lawmages that are after her because of it. That's about it. She mentions something about Kephalai except for one thing - what the hell Kephalai is. The main assumption on the forums is that that's the plane they're on. Now, we've never heard about this plane before, and it's confusing because her card debuted in Lorwyn, which took place on the plane of - guess what - LORWYN. Now, everything about this plane looks strikingly similar, however, to Ravnica, a plane we HAVE been to before. In that case, WHAT THE HELL IS KEPHALAI?! Is that the organization she stole from? I don't know! They don't tell me anything, so I'm left to assume.

Another thing that annoys me about the art style is how confusing it is to follow. I'm not quite sure what's going on in this chase scene because the way everything's drawn is hard to make out and strange. It appears that she used some explosion to throw herself upward and throw her would-be captor into the sky, but it's impossible to tell because I have to stare at it for five minutes just to follow it. It's just stupid and trying to make her look cool and in reality, just serves to be stupid and useless.

Also, these gargoyles that the lawmages animate to capture Chandra, what the hell happens with them? They're flying, they're flying, and now they're falling. Did Chandra cast a spell to counteract the animation spell? Did it just run out of mana or time or range? Again, upon closer inspection, it appears that the lawmage cut the spell so that the gargoyles, holding Chandra, would fall to the sea below and drown her, but I can't be sure, because those lawmages are never seen again until the final scene!

Oh, and they throw in a mention to Jaya Ballard, who, again, if you don't know Magic history like the back of your hand, you're left going "whuh". And is it possible to create a flaming explosion from UNDERWATER?! That's the least of my worries, considering planeswalkers are supposed to, you know, HAVE THE POWERS OF GODS OR SOMETHING. It's easier to have the passionate, emotional red-mana character just be obsessed with fire and explosions. And the lawmages just assume she's dead! What, are they assuming that the blast killed her? Considering the fact that it's quite obvious she caused it, wouldn't the slight clue that her HEAD WAS ON FIRE giving them a hint that maybe FIRE DOESN'T HURT HER LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE?! Or something!? Did they assume she drowned? I DON'T KNOW! They just say "THE BODY WAS NOT FOUND THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THE MISCREANT SURVIVED ELIMINATION BLAH BLAH BLAH". And it just ends with Chandra talking about "LOL WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS USE FIRE" like a freaking one-track minded idiot. These characters are so flat, boring, and stupid, I almost wouldn't mind seeing this bitch drown so that we can move on to more interesting characters.

AND WHY THE HELL IS IT CALLED "CHANDRA'S ULTIMATE"?! THAT'S PISSING ME OFF SO BAD!! A title is the most important part of a piece of artwork or literature! It gives the reader an idea of what to expect OR gives them another allusion, reference, or symbol to help their understanding! Naming this comic "Chandra's Ultimate" would be like me naming "A...
